(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 10:21 am (UTC)(link)You can get into contact with the moderators of that game if you want to confirm some of this. At this point I just started to avoid the player period with the drama they stirred and only saw bits and pieces of it until now. The main thing I think you should watch out for should you let them in is their attitude. They don't like taking critique from people no matter how it is worded or suggested. Despite asking for it to appear open to it, they'll never put it into action or ignored it outright. They'll make noise on improving with what was given by others and that's about it. There was one time they complained about how an anonymous account pointed out how they were conducting themselves poorly in someone else's Dear-Mun entry with how they belittled and made fun of the poster. They responded by deleting the PM and 'ignoring the haters' as the plurk went, I think. This is not the type of attitude I think anyone would want with a player in a game.

If her application is accepted then she will be subject to the same rules as everyone else, including accepting IC consequences, listening to any valid critique, and following the setting of the game. If there's an issue with any of these, with any player, then I can assure you that the moderators will deal with it.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)She would run crying to the mods about being 'godmodded' at every little opportunity, from being OOCly discussing that their character might be better at something than hers to someone telling her not to upset their character unless she was prepared for some negative consequences (which she wasn't). She has no grasp of one of RP's most basic concepts and it'll cause you no end of annoyance to have to constantly explain the difference between godmodding and IC consequence/behaviour.

Again, thank you for bringing these concerns to us, and we will be aware of everything you've said going forwards. But as the ban was for another game and not for any major infraction which could be of concern to our playerbase, we will still be allowing her a fair chance at her application.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)I can't give details anon without outting me, but she has stalked and harassed a friend of mine for years. This friend of mine played with her once, about three years ago. She repeatedly will talk about them to "trusted" friends and this friend of mine doesn't even RP anymore. Back when we were on good terms, she would frequently complain about this mutual friend in a way so specific, worded so specifically, so suspiciously timed after discussing it with me that it was so blatantly obvious that she was stirring up wank on anoncomms and the one leaving harassing messages on their HMDs.
Additionally, I can confirm firsthand that any of the issues that have been brought up on wankgate are true. While I have no issue with characterization (anyone can change, get better, everyone starts somewhere, etc.) this is all from an ooc standpoint. She creates a toxic atmosphere under the guise of friendliness and becomes passive aggressive to the point of being flat-out aggressive to people if she doesn't get exactly what she wants. She ICly would threadjack every entry my character would reply to to an extent that if it were "real life" it would be considered stalking. My character had almost no CR with her and she used ooc knowledge to god mode and harass her and her close CR because she was flirting with a character hers had her eye on (which wasn't implicitly stated, only implied via her old plurk with her saying something about how SOME CHARACTERS GET IN THE WAY OF TRUE LOVE!!).
She is a toxic person. If you let her in, I'd let her in under a stipulation or with a strike from the get-go. She is someone who hides her vitriolic behavior with being nice to the point it's creepy and obsessive so she seems harmless. As someone who has been harassed by her and really hurt by her behavior and has had more than one friend go through the same, I really hope you won't take this complaint lightly. She has the potential to really hurt people and it's not ok.
Thank you for your time.

These concerns, as well as concerns from players within the game and information from the Demeleier moderators, who I contacted to make sure I had the correct story instead of basing anything on wankgate links, have led the moderating team to the decision that Kally will not be allowed to apply to Haven.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-05 01:27 am (UTC)(link)I will not be applying if this player is accepted into the game, as I do not seek out stressful environments in games.
The risks of dealing with her or her characters and the obsessive, clingy and aggressive behavior that will be a part of whatever circle of CR she creates makes me as a player extremely uncomfortable for personal reasons.
That I will potentially expose myself to behavior like this is enough to make me reconsider applying to Haven.

As I have explained to the anon above, other concerns were brought from current and prospective players and the decision has been made to not allow Kally to apply to Haven.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-20 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)The canon in question is sexual and seems ill-suited for a game that does not focus on sex. The player has a permissions post but I feel uncomfortable with the idea of having them in the game because even if I don't interact with them, my CR may, and it may get to the point where even if I don't thread I have to contact them to handwave things, and my character would then have to experience the consequences of having a sexual character in the game along with them, which is what I'm concerned about.
Additionally I am concerned about the subject matter of the canon. The Shinsengumi were real people and this canon fetishizes and sexualizes them which is another reason for my concern.
Please keep this in mind when you are looking over the application. Thank you.

If the harasser's comments here are deleted I can provide caps but I won't do so without the permission of the player in question so I'm just linking the posts themselves for now.
I know wankgate is not a credible source to base mod decisions on, but I'll also point out the relevant thread for what it's worth:

Re: http://havenmods.dreamwidth.org/13078.html?thread=3130390#cmt3130390
This character (and player) will be judged by the merit of their application just like anyone else who applies. If anyone is uncomfortable tagging them, they should contact the player in question on the opt-out/permissions post and myself, so I will not pair those characters during any events. If the player tags someone who has requested not to be tagged, that's different, of course.
But just because someone is from a sex canon (or a war canon, or a reverse harem host club canon) does not mean they will constantly be having sex, fighting, or flirting. Haven is not a sex game, but sex is not forbidden (from characters of any canon, not just sexually based canons) as long as it's warned for and under a cut.
Furthermore, the moderating team certainly do not condone spamming any player's (current or potential) HMD or permissions posts with harassing messages, and this is strongly against our rules.
Thank you.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-21 12:18 am (UTC)(link)Calling it 'an argument' and 'anons on both sides' gives the crazy person too much credit. It's one lunatic being a crazy person. You're giving their claims too much credence.
Re: http://havenmods.dreamwidth.org/13078.html?thread=3130390#cmt3130390
In addition to this, some people may legitimately wish to opt out or feel uncomfortable (without harassing the player), and I wanted to address them too.
Either way, the decision stands as it is, and harassment will not be tolerated.

(Anonymous) 2013-11-21 02:34 am (UTC)(link)I am completely blown away, and so very impressed, by the way the players in this game, as well as the mod(s), have handled this situation. As someone who has been harassed in the past for characters I've chosen to play and fandoms I enjoy, I know awful the experience can be. Seeing the players jump to this person's defense, and the calm, fair way it was handled here by the mod(s), I will definitely consider this game in the future when I have the time to app somewhere. Bravo to all of you for making sure this poor potential player still feels welcomed, and treated fairly. That's a rare sight these days and is much appreciated.
Re: http://havenmods.dreamwidth.org/13078.html?thread=3130390#cmt3130390
I'm very proud of my playerbase as a whole anyway, any wankgate incidents aside, and grateful to my helpers for supporting my decisions on things like this.
I hope you do consider Haven one day.

I wasn't sure where else to come with my problem, but I have no tags for Mako Mori! Could you please add one for her so I can tag her posts? Thank you so much! :3
no subject
I just checked and they do already exist, unfortunately there's a weird problem where tags don't show up on the tag list until they've been manually entered once. So you just need to enter character: mako mori once manually on a post and then it'll be in the tag list.

App Question
(Anonymous) 2014-10-05 01:08 am (UTC)(link)For the Third Person sample, do you have a preference for which tense is used?
Re: App Question
Generally speaking, action brackets tend to be present tense and third person tends to be past tense.
