Personality: First and foremost, Makoto is a beastkin. Beastkin aren't the most liked of all the species back home, so she has been subject to much teasing and harassment because of it. It most certainly bothers her when people make fun of her for what she is, but because of Noel and Tsubaki, she doesn't mind as much anymore. She flaunts what she is proudly, and she is nowhere near ashamed of it. She even dresses all skimpy-like with no regrets. However, she still doesn't like being made fun of for it, so it's a bit of a soft spot. It only makes her stronger, though.
Makoto is a bit of a goof, constantly acting silly and over-dramatic around her friends, and even making the simplest of things sound hundreds of times more epic (legendary chocolate, anyone?). She loves all of her friends, but most definitely loves Noel and Tsubaki the most. She would do anything to keep them safe, even if it meant attacking an old friend like Carl. She has even made an idle threat about protecting Noel to Iron Tager, who makes a T-Rex simply look large. She can be very friendly with people, and loves to be social and outgoing with her friends whenever she can. Because of that, Makoto really wishes that things back home could be like they used to be; simple and fun. Everything got so complicated back home, and Makoto abhors it, and she wants to work towards that.
Despite being shown as being a complete goof who makes a complete mess of her living quarters with a disinterest in learning much back in the Academy, Makoto is surprisingly perceptive and intelligent -- and definitely knows when to get completely serious. There's no other way she would be an officer in the Intelligence Department of the Novus Orbis Librarium. She knows much more than she lets on to people, and only gives grains of salt to people about her motives. Those motives happen to be more in sync with Sector Seven than with the NOL, which is a world without magic. Her primary example of it all was bringing a creature back to life with magic, even if it didn't want to come back to life. It simply bothers her. That's why she works as a spy for Sector Seven within the NOL.
She doesn't enjoy fighting, or at least fighting people that she knows or has known well in the past, but she will do it without questions if someone she cares about is in trouble, such as the case as attacking Carl to protect Tsubaki. You simply just don't mess with her close friends or face her fury. Tsubaki and Noel are like family to her. She even cares enough about Jin to tend to his wounds nonstop until he woke up, and try to bring him back to rest after he left. Like it was mentioned before, Makoto just wants things to be like they used to be. It's this pure willpower and love for her friends that even allow her to retain her identity when her soul is sucked into the Cauldron, a place where her soul should have disappeared and killed her. That love for her friends and those she truly cares for is more than enough to keep her alive and even end up returning her back to her world.
She also believes that people and other living things should be helped a little bit, just enough that it can go off and live its own life for itself. That way they don't become dependent on someone's help, and a helping hand is always a nice thing to give someone in need. Her belief of this comes from personal experience with the prejudice she experienced throughout her life, and how Noel and Tsubaki stood up for her and gave her that helping hand that let her squeeze out the poison from the discrimination, and live her own life.
Makoto also has a huge soft spot for cute things, such as Carl. She thinks Carl is adorable, and would instantly just grab him and hug him for quite awhile on sight. In fact, she probably treats cute things worse than Noel when she sees them. Not only that, but Makoto gets excited over the smallest of things sometimes, such as chocolate. She also loves all-you-can-eat buffets and chestnut parfaits, and playing lacrosse is a hobby of hers. Makoto is also apparently a fan of things such as mecha and video games.
