In a church with his two siblings and a foster mother, Ragna was at peace with his childhood life. Being the older brother, he looked out for his younger brother Jin, and his little sister Saya. He took care of them, and they both were dependent on him as well. If there was a sibling squabble between his brother and sister, Ragna would break it up, as he usually did when Jin and Saya got into arguments. He always cared for Saya, taking her side when Jin usually bullies her. One day, Saya became ill, and Ragna was out gathering water. While on his way to return home, he hears an explosion, smoke coming from the direction he was headed. Ragna returns to the church, currently burning down before his eyes. Desperately looking for his family, he runs into two people--one who was unfamiliar.
Jin and Yuuki Terumi burned down the church, and Terumi then severed Ragna's right arm, kidnapping his sister along the way. The rain sets, leaving Ragna alone with his home in crisps, hearing the sweet sounds of his sister's music box. Some time later, Ragna is bitten by Rachel Alucard, in turn the color of his hair turns from blonde to snow white, saving his life in the process. The Azure Grimoire is used in place of his missing arm, and Jubei, one of the Six Heroes, appears before an older teen Ragna, in order to train him to control the Azure. Years past, and his training is finally complete. Ragna, now powerful enough to seek out the one man who destroyed his life, decides that he is ready to depart on his own. Before he leaves, Jubei hands Ragna the red coat that once belonged to the hero of the Dark War, the one who stopped the Black Beast 100 years ago, Bloodedge. He also gives him Blood Scythe, the sword that also belonged to Bloodedge. With these gifts in hand, Ragna sets off.
New Years Eve, 2199. Ragna has destroyed countless NOL branches and bases, the NOL being the world's "military" in simpler terms, arriving at the 13th Hierarchical City of Kagutsuchi to destroy the base there. He has gathered a huge bounty on his head, and known to be dangerous around the world. Vigilantes have caught wind of his name in numbers, and some have heard of the "Azure Grimoire" he possesses, gauging interest in meeting Ragna the Bloodedge. Whether it be with the intent to kill or the intent to gather the Azure Grimoire.

Personality: Hearing the name "The Grim Reaper: Ragna the Bloodedge," is bound to give shivers to the casual population of the BlazBlue universe. To each their own, as they say, as many of the citizens have their own personal views on the criminal who "terrorizes" the city. Some cry that he enjoys hearing the screams of helpless despair, murdering anyone who appears before him, reaping their souls apart; a cold-hearted killer.
And if you happen to come across Ragna, you'd probably have enough to believe that he was exactly like that.
Ragna the Bloodedge comes off as rude, easily angered/angry, sarcastic, and unapproachable. He always seems to have a goal in mind, giving off that he doesn't want to be bothered by anyone--and it's true. Dependent only on himself, he remains sardonic towards anyone who'd try and speak with him, and never holds his tongue when it comes to being as blunt and vulgar as possible.
His will is second to none though; as mostly powered by rage, Ragna has more than enough of an ability and common sense to fully take care of himself and the strength to follow through with his own decisions. His stubbornness takes him far and wide, never allowing himself to give up on anything. He knows this, and fully understands the responsibility he has to bear on his actions, and he knows it weighs on him alone.
Which brings back up the public identity of "Ragna the Bloodedge"--mainly, his personality of being a gruff jerk, is mainly created by the public. He keeps up this face and follows through with it to everyone, only because he knows that's what he has created based on his actions. But aside from that, Ragna holds his youth nature close. Deep down, he's still a big brother--so there's instances of his softer side showing to either the people he cares for, or for people in need of help. Despite how it's displayed, Ragna does have the capabilities of caring for people. In one instance, Ragna had spared a life that Litchi Faye-Ling had begged him to, and promised that he wouldn't harm him. This side of him shines the most when dealing with his sibling, Jin Kisaragi, who's out for his blood. When Ragna defeats Jin, he always spares him, opting to leave him be than to ever finish him off once and for all.
The catalyst that made him this way goes back to the burning of the church. Ever since then, Ragna had harbored a burning hated for Yuuki Terumi, the man who took his arm and his life away. In a sense, it was him who made Ragna into who he is today, and he will stop at nothing to get his earned revenge.
As mentioned before, Ragna keeps his youth close. May it be intentionally or not, it will always be a part of him; maybe even closer than he may know. This is referring to his menial tasks he likes to do, as one of his favorite hobbies is cooking. With the right ingredients, Ragna could possibly make anything he'd like, but due to his general laziness and not being able to stay in one place for too long, he prefers to eat out at a dine in, usually enjoying a casual meat dish. He is also very afraid of ghosts, and it's implied reason is because they're spiritual; not something that Ragna would be able to simply attack head on. One could argue that Terumi had placed some kind of ghost-phobia onto Ragna, ever since his attack on his home.
He also has a strong dislike of needles, and frequently finds himself hanging around "younger" girls, causing the people around him to think he's a lolicon.
