Motonari's base power is that of 'light', specifically, sunlight. His methods of attack vary between offensive and defensive.
❚❚❚ Offensive
❚ Using his ring blade, Motonari can summon a sunbeam that appears from the air behind him. It can only hit one spot at a time, then move forward to burn the space in front of it, so he has to aim carefully to make sure he doesn't miss his target. ❚ Using the same ring blade, he can create 'force fields' by spinning the blade in circles in front of him. If 2 force fields are created, the area between them (granted they are not too far apart) becomes a sort of vacuum that throws whoever or whatever is inside around. This injures a target. ❚ Simlar to the force field mentioned above, Motonari can summon a circle around a group of enemies that creates the same kind of vacuum effect. However, he must keep spinning his ring blade to keep this in motion. ❚ The decoy mentioned below can be activated as a bomb to cause damage to the close area. ❚ His basara attack (pressing circle with a full gauge) is Motonari powered up with light as he spins to attack enemies. The attack finishes with a mini sun appearing in the air above his head, raining down light on any in it's proximity.
❚❚❚ Defensive
❚ Motonari can create a decoy of himself. This appears as a green light, yet any enemy will be drawn to it like a moth to a flame, unaware that it is not actually him they're attacking. ❚ The same force field as mentioned in offensive abilities can be used to reflect attacks and be used as a protective barrier.
❚❚❚❚❚ normal abilities
❚❚❚ Offensive ❚ He's fast and quick with his weapon. ❚ Skilled at using a ring blade, which can be split in two and used as two curved swords. ❚ Strong enough to withstand attacks from people like Yukimura and Motochika despite not having visible muscle strength. ❚ Fights in heels that needs a bullet point of it's own right...
❚❚❚ Defensive ❚ A brilliant tactician. In his route he used his own dedication to protecting the Mori clan against Motochika and produced an elaborate story. In this story, he told Motochika that Ieyasu had trampled over both of their lands, leaving many of his clan dead too. All along it had been him to attack Shikoku, to leave the bloody banners, and it was him who destroyed Motochika's friendship with Ieyasu--even though Motochika hates him and knows to not trust him. He knows how to use words and evidence well, let's say. ❚ He's cautious. He's willing to be patient and wait something out than dive head first into a situation, especially if it's necessary to plan out tactics beforehand.
Here is an example of a stage which shows most of these moves.
Items/Weapons: His ring blade, Ieyasu's flag/banner covered in mud and blood that he used to trick Motochika with..., spare shirt/trousers because lbr he won't find clothes that ridiculous in haven...
His memories flashed before his eyes. An uphill struggle versus another great mind, lies he'd spun to trick weaker men and the chase of hunting down Motochika Chosokabe until he was laying dead and cold on the ground in front of him. When he'd awoken in the bed confusion had obviously been his first response, but the question and doubt that followed was not usual for him; however, how was he to blame for that given the state of the place he'd awoken in?
Had it all been a lie, too? Had the wet sound of flesh in his ears been a lie? Was the other not really dead? He was too clean to be covered in blood to begin with, so using that detail for the truth was impossible, so he used logic. He stepped outside.
Whatever he had expected to find wasn't this. It was desolate, yet somehow far more modern than the world he was used to. Ikutsushima was mainly wooden, designed as a temple on the edge of the sea. The concrete here was unfamiliar. The buildings, the well, even the sun in the sky felt surreal. He bit down on panic, bit down on any rise of emotion that threatened to overwhelm him and tried to look into this logically. He thought of possibilities, yet none made any sense, and he thought of ways to find information. Walking, he thought, would be the start.
He took his weapon with him, of course, not willing to be caught unguarded in unfamiliar territory. He kept it loose and over his shoulder, ready to be spun into action given slight movement that was deemed threatening.
He only stopped when he reached the billboard, eyes taking in the picture and the words written in large text.
"Is that how this is to be?" Despite the circumstances, he didn't sound surprised. In fact, his tone almost sounds as though he's mocking the picture--perhaps even questioning it at the same time. "Very well, I'll see how safe this 'Haven' truly is. Then when it's all over, I'll strike you down too." Whoever that is aimed at, however, is unfamiliar to him. That, fortunately, won't stop him or make him give up in the slightest. An elaborate plot was brewing the shade of the sun--and it was Motonari who stood in the centre, beginning to wonder how to weave another web of lies. It would take time, but as it seemed as though time was something he had plenty of, that would be no issue. The first step-- "Let's see who else is here, shall we?"
