-> REVISE

(Sorry for my delay on this!)

The effect of Zeno’s immortality on his personality is a great one. He states that before he was given the blood of the dragon he was a normal human being, lacking in skills or fighting courage, but if him receiving dragon blood could give him the power to make the world a peaceful place or even make people happy he would take it. After receiving it he seems to have a rather carefree nature, which shows he might have always had this kind of nature to a degree. Once spending time with the king and the others, he began to feel hopeless and even useless to help. Even when he showed the king his ability by smacking his hand onto the stone wall and wounding himself only to have it heal, he was still told not to fight, instead being given the pendent, the one presented to the king of the dragons Hiryuu, that he still holds dear. This kind of protection continued to the point that the other dragons knew if Zeno was injured then the king would cry. So when he would venture on the battlefield it was usually to pick up Seiryuu after he was paralyzed from his powers. This kind of thing proved to be a mistake even when Zeno was attacked and cut down. In that moment he felt the pain and thought he would die, it was then he heard the attacker scream monster and he was left in shock of his fatal wound healing. This was the point where his immortality is found out and it begins to have a major effect on his personality and state of mind.

Over time Zeno continues to question his powers as the others age around him and he remains the same. He never grows, never gets sick or stays wounded as the pain lasts a moment and then vanishes. Zeno asks Hiryuu of this and before he can receive an answer the king passes away. He continues to show a carefree nature to the others not revealing any of this to them, instead keeping it to himself since the only person he told of it was king Hiryuu. While the others leave he remains and continues to help with Hiryuu’s son saying he will leave when the son is grown. In truth, he remains longer because he is scared of seeing the others who have aged and would be allowed to return to heaven while he remained behind. Never does he show a break in this nature until he feels Guen’s death, screaming for none of them to leave him behind when they already have.

Zeno in present tells the others that he had spent most of his time wandering, even getting married since with that long of a life it makes sense to be married at times. It can be felt that the length of his life adds more to his carefree nature since after a certain amount of time passes anyone would become numb to stressing over things that most humans find stressful, like death or time running and if they achieved anything in their life. With the length of his life he feels that continuing to be carefree is easier than constantly remembering things like they were, even to the point where he stopped counting the years he’s lived since it became too much work to do so. Zeno knows he has eternity as he waits for the reincarnation of king Hiryuu so there is little point to worry and the best option is a carefree way of approaching things and offering wisdom when he feels it might be needed.
