Personality: Gohan is a warrior; a child that was pushed into his father's world of fighting at a young age, and left alone to mature and grow into the world's defender. As such, he takes his role very seriously, and is both determined to stop any threats to his home, and fierce in his battle tactics. This is shown when he faces the androids on numerous occasions, his battle tactics always consisting of putting on the pressure just so that innocents civilians can get away. He's constantly putting himself in the front lines, willing to take any abuse from the androids so long as other people are safe. And this ties in to two very strong aspects of his personality.
For starters, Gohan is an idealistic person. He believes strongly in right and wrong, and he's confident in his ability to distinguish between the two. As such, he truly believes himself to be the hero of his world; the person that people can look up to in times when hope is lost. And he believes this because he wants to carry on the spirit of his dad; the person Gohan idolizes the most. He will fight to defend his home, but he will not kill someone. Like his father. He will attack with ferocity, but he will always give second chances. Like his father. He will never give up, even when things look hopeless. Like his father. And like his father, he'll make sure that his spirit carries on in someone. That should he fail to protect the world, someone else could; which brings us to the core of Gohan's personality. His compassion.
Gohan is, and forever will be, a gentle person. He may fight with the strength and determination of his Saiyan ancestry, but the fact of the matter is, Gohan was born and raised human; and most of all, Gohan loves life. He loves the sounds of nature outside the window, of his mother arguing with his father in some meaningless squabble, of a fire crackling in the fireplace as they all gather around it. He loves the smell of a flower in the spring, of a large meal his mom is cooking, of a boiling oil drum as his father takes a bath. He loves the feel of a warm blanket as he sleeps, of a warm dinner with the whole family. And it's the small things like that that he cherishes above all else; those moments where he can truly be a human being and not just some warrior or hero... those moments that he will never get back because of the androids.
This is what he fights to protect; life. The life that all people should live; that the androids are preventing people from living.
And this leads to one of Gohan's strongest character flaws; his sheer anger. Ever since he was a child, he was shown to have a temper, and this temper has manifested itself in the way of a tantrum and a hidden power. This can be attributed to his Saiyan heritage possibly, but nonetheless, it is both a strength, and a weakness. The angrier Gohan gets, the more powerful he becomes. However, the angrier he gets, the more unreasonable and blinded he becomes. He may become downright brutal, unleashing a torrent of power unlike anything anyone has ever seen before. But he will forget to conserve his energy, will forget the nuances of tactics. He will just be an unstoppable force, without any finesse.
That is why Gohan is the person he is though. Because as human as he may be, and despite how much he would rather be sitting down and reading a good book while listening to his family and friends in the background keeping things lively... the world needs a hero. And Gohan needs to force himself to be that hero. The androids are killing people, making them suffer. And Gohan is simply not the type to let this pass. His ideals, compassion, and anger simply do not allow for it.
Abilities/Powers:Martial Arts – Gohan's been trained in the martial arts by Piccolo at the age of four, mostly through survival training, trial by fire exercises, and sparring matches. His training continued with his father for the next few years after that, and eventually he learned to train alone. But the discipline and experience gained from all that training, as well as his hybrid physiology, has made him into a very formidable martial artist.
Life Energy – Also known as ki. Thanks to his training, Gohan can freely manipulate his own ki and put it to use in a number of different ways, such as to fly, manifest it into energy blasts, generate barriers, and naturally enhance his physical attributes by "powering up". This is only a basic generalization however, as this is barely the tip of the iceberg. His main energy techniques are the Kamehameha (a blue energy blast), the Masenko (a yellow energy blast), and the Makankosappo (an orange energy blast which functions like a drill).
Saiyan Physiology – As the first Human-Saiyan hybrid, Gohan's physiology allows for him to posses beyond superhuman strength, speed, reflexes, and stamina. This is mostly in part due to the fact that saiyans were bred and trained for war and battle, so their physiology has adapted over the years to reflect that, down to the genetic level. Not only that, but it also makes him much more adept at the art of freely manipulating his ki, since saiyans have a naturally higher ki reserve than most species.
Super Saiyan – As one of the few super saiyans in existence, Gohan has access to incredible levels of power, capable of enhancing his physical attributes and natural abilities to unspoken levels. When in use, his hair turns blonde and spiky, and his eyes turn jade. In addition, he is bathed in a golden flame, his power practically exuding from him. However, in this form, he is much more susceptible to anger and other negative emotions.
Items/Weapons: - The uniform he made to resemble his father's uniform, although it will be in extremely bad shape due to his most recent fight with the androids. - A small brown bag tied to his belt with a piece of twine, where Gohan housed his remaining senzu beans before he used them all up. - The power pole, a magical pole that can stretch and shrink to any length. Used to belong to his father, but is now in his possession even though he doesn't use it.
Sample Entry Two: He hadn't been expecting to open his eyes again.
And it showed, the moment his eyes cracked open and the sight of a actual ceiling greeted him. It was all over his face, really. The shock and confusion, for starters. Then the disbelief, as he narrowed his eyes and tried to piece together what had happened to him. The moment it hit him though, he couldn't help but sit right up from the intensity of it all, his breath coming to him in short pants as the images flashed through his mind.
A rain of light... no, of energy. Coming down on him. It was burning... searing... the most intense pain he'd ever felt in his life. It felt like he was being torn apart, burning up from the inside out. But how? What had he been doing? The last thing he remembered, he was...
Androids.
His eyes widened.
"I was... fighting the androids," He started talking to himself, his breath having calmed down somewhat... but his wild look still not quite gone yet. No, if anything, it was growing worse, his teeth grit as he grabbed the top of his head with his right hand, like he were in intense pain. "I knocked Trunks out, and... I didn't want him to get hurt. I wasn't going to survive, that's... I knew I wasn't strong enough. But Trunks would've been, so long as he... lived..." His grip tightened, and he began to hyperventilate. "I took them on myself. With.. one arm." Idly, he noted, his left arm was actually missing. But any surprise that he might've experienced from that fact was washed way by the images that continued to flash through his mind. The images that he couldn't stop sorting out, like he was possessed by them. "There was no way I could've won..." He continued. "I went in there-- I told them, that what I represent couldn't be destroyed... because I knew I..."
And then his eyes widened. The wild look to them gone as his right arm grew limp and fell to his side.
"I... didn't win."
He looked as his right hand then. And then at the space where his left hand should've been. Then finally, the question tore itself from his throat. Although whoever it was aimed at, Gohan didn't know.
