Abilities/Powers:
Magic is a force that fills almost everywhere in Merlin's world which makes the attempts to squash it out seem impossible. Merlin himself has been called a "creature" of magic and the Old Religion, having been born with magical abilities. He has an instinctual control over certain parts of magic, telling Gaius that he could moves objects with magic even "before he could talk." It has also been shown that he also has the ability to slow down time for a short period and conjure certain elemental magics (such as fire, wind, and lightning) on his own without a spell.

With spells examples of things he has been shown to do include opening locked doors, bringing a dog statue to life, created a shield from magic, putting people to sleep, healing, . (a list of spells used in the show and by whom is here) Most of the spells he uses are spell from the Old Religion, although while using a Sidhe staff it's been shown that he can use spells that use their magic as well, at least while in possession of the staff.

While he is foretold to be the greatest sorcerer there ever was in his world, he is still young. He has a lot of raw power but is still trying to learn and train in spells and a wider variety of magic, and although he is talented and a fast learner he is doing just that: learning, and new spells can take him a bit to get the hang of still.

After learning of the existence of his father Balinor, Merlin learned that he is also a Dragonlord. This position is something that is passed down from father to son and when Balinor died Merlin inherited it. This gives him the ability to speak in the tongue of the Dragons, whom are their spiritual brothers. They can use this language to control them (and relatives such as wyverns) and also summon them, along with abilities such as a stunning spell using a roar similar to a dragon's. They are also the only ones that can help dragon eggs hatch, calling them into life by giving them a name.

Items/Weapons:
- A now blank (thanks to Haven) spell book
- A small wooden carving of a dragon
- A brown satchel

Sample Entry Two:
There was something about this that just screamed "bad idea!" to him.

The tunnel was dark, although he had brought a torch with him (a real torch, not one of the weird clicking things someone had offered him), but that wasn't the problem. Even in the darkness he felt as though something was watching him, but as far as he knew he was the only one around. At least, he'd been very careful in making sure of that before he lit the torch by magic. Despite the fact that nearly everyone here had something (whether it be called magic or not) he was still a little hesitant to let too many people know about his own abilities.

Old habits die hard, he guessed.

He'd hesitated at the entrance long enough, so even though he continued thinking "bad idea, bad idea" Merlin took the first few steps in, taking a moment to appreciate the strangeness of what had been called a "subway tunnel," if he remembered correctly. What he'd have given to see this thing while it was working! Well, not now. Not while he was trying to walk through it. From what he'd heard the walk was going to be hard enough but he had his eyes on the prize: a library. A library full of books, books that had been read by people here previously but that he hadn't seen. And he was quite eager to see them. There had to be something helpful in there; he was starting to get a little desperate, because he just had to get back home as soon as possible. There was no telling what was going to happen without him there! Bad enough things happened with him there to stop them, and now that he was here he'd spent a lot of time worrying about Gaius, Gwen, Arthur, and the kingdom in general. So even if there wasn't anything in these books… he was just going to have to try. And on that thought, he started walking.
