1. Be considerate This includes IC and OOC. Please be courteous to your fellow players, and try to resolve any conflict politely. Bullying and harassment are taken seriously, and are not permitted at all. Don't godmode (take control of another player's character without permission), or infomod (allow OOC knowledge to become IC knowledge unrealistically).
2. OOC =/= IC Just because a character is rude or offensive, does not mean the player shares those views. Please try to keep IC and OOC separate.
3. ICA = ICC In Character Actions = In Character Consequences. Feel free to make a stir with your character, but please be prepared for consequences from the NPCs or other characters.
4. This is a panfandom game We accept canon characters and OCs, we also allow previous game memories to be retained. We do not allow AUs, fandom OCs, or duplicates. This does not apply to canon AUs which are sufficiently different to one another (for example: Mickey Mouse from Kingdom Hearts and Mickey from the Disney cartoons). If in doubt, please ask.
5. Please be aware of the activity requirements Each AC period will last from the first of the month until the last day of the month. An AC post will go up in the OOC community on the first, where all players will be required to submit proof of their activity from the previous month. Activity can be either of the following:
One post or log AND a thread of five comments or more. OR Three threads totalling thirty comments or more.
Failure to comment to the AC post or provide sufficient AC will result in being removed from the game. You are free to re-apply for an ejected character; but to be fair to other applicants, you must wait a month before doing so.
6. How's My Driving? A bi-monthly game-wide HMD post will be posted in the OOC community. While it is not mandatory to participate, it is strongly encouraged. Anonymous will be enabled, but moderators will be monitoring the post for any signs of hostility or bullying.
7. Explicit Content Haven is a horror game, and will often deal with disturbing and graphic themes. Any extremely explicit content posted by players (sexual, violent, etc) must be placed under a cut and warned for.
8. The moderators are here to help If you have a problem or complaint that needs to be dealt with by the moderators, please do get in contact. You can use the anonymous-enabled concerns post, or use the information on the mod contact page.
9. Time Zones In the effort to be considerate to multiple time zones, all events and important posts (activity check, etc) will go up around 7pm EST.
10. Tags Each character will receive their own tag created by the moderators, this tag should be used when your character is both the original poster of the entry and when they tag into a post. There are also tags for each important location, free to use for all posts.
11. Communities Haven may use the main community and logs community a little differently to other games. A guide on how to use them can be found here.
12. Breaking the Rules Breaking the rules will result in a strike being placed against you, any player receiving their third strike will be removed from the game. However, any instances of plagiarism or harassment will be cause for an immediate ban.
So what sort of game is this, and how does my character end up here? Haven is a horror game, and will compromise of predominantly plot-based horror events. Characters wake up in an apartment one day, it's a mystery how! For more information, please see the premise and setting.
What sort of characters are allowed in Haven? Haven allows canon characters from any published medium, as well as OCs and canon AUs. A canon AU is a different version of the same character within the published canon, a canon AU must be sufficiently different from the original canon character to be accepted (e.g. Mickey Mouse in Kingdom Hearts and in the Disney cartoons). The rule is intended for the same character in completely different canons. For example, the KH/Disney one stated, or Quasimodo in Disney's Hunchback and the live action film 'Quasimodo'. We do not accept fan-made AUs, two versions of the same character (anime and manga, for example) or canon OCs. Characters are also allowed to bring in previous game memories, if they should choose to do so. However, powers gained in previous games (additional to canon powers) will not carry over to Haven.
Do my characters have their powers? Yes, but these may be liable to be taken away during some events.
My character has a pet and/or summons, can they come? Ordinary pets can't come. If a summons is the result of a personal ability (example: Final Fantasy), then they are allowed. Pokemon trainers can have two inhabited pokeballs with them on arrival.
I want to apply for a giant mecha/animal/six-armed alien. Go for it! All character types are welcome here, and there's no need to humanize them. The only alteration is for characters over 15 feet tall, they must be shrunk to under that height. Child characters are allowed in Haven; however, applicants may be asked to justify how they will fit within the setting, this is especially true for characters under eight who will usually be considered too young for the themes of the game. For characters whose physical age does not match their mental age, or for characters of a race/species that ages differently for humans, that will be taken into account.
How do our characters communicate? Each character wakes up with a battered cell phone that is capable of both voice and video, though not text. Conference calls to several people or the whole game are permitted. As for how they all speak the same language... it's a mystery!
Why are there no books or written materials? That's one of the mysteries of the game...
But surely there is text display on the phone to list contacts? No. The phone automatically updates as people leave and arrive, showing a picture instead of their name. Caller ID functions as a picture of the person calling, not their name.
Is there a record function on the network? I.e. can my character look back over past calls? No, afraid not.
What happens if my character writes something themselves? The writing will last for thirty minutes and then vanish.
My character wants to destroy a building/blow something up, can I? Go for it! But be warned, things are watching... If you want to cause damage to one of the important locations or hurt NPCs, please run it by a mod first.
What stops my character leaving this town? Nothing, theoretically. But any attempt to leave the town will bring the characters against an invisible barrier that extends right around the town, and is impossible to fly over.
What happens if my character dies? Following the event of September 2014, death is currently semi-permanent. What this means is that if your character dies, you have a choice between dropping them from the game, or leaving them dead until the next application round and then soft-resetting them (this means they will be as if fresh from canon).
My character is injured/ill, do they keep this? Any old injuries (like an old football knee strain) or disabilities remain as they are. Any life threatening illness or injuries sustained immediately before arrival will be healed, this is to stop characters arriving and being unable to do anything at first.
Can I bring in any items or weapons? Your character may arrive with up to three items, these may include weapons or personal items. However, please be sensible about this. Guns and a photograph of loved ones is okay, a rocket launcher or a car is not.
Can I bring in a book or ID? Of course! But these items will be wiped clean of any writing. Books with blank pages, dog-tags with no ID number, etc.
Where do our characters live? On acceptance to the game, each character will be assigned an apartment within the housing spiral, you can see where others are living here!
I want to canon update my character, can I? Yes, but it must be run past a mod first. The character will enter a coma-like state for 24 hours and then wake up updated. They will remember going home and spending time there again. Just go here and fill in the form.

I heard the date IC is not the same as the date OOC, is this true? Yes, it is! The characters (and players) only discovered this after over a year of gameplay (in October 2013). A calendar has been provided over here where you can instantly compare the date OOC to the date IC.
Is this game based on any game/movie/anime that I might know? No. It takes inspiration from Silent Hill, Uzumaki and The Shining, among others.

How many characters can I have? The character limit is six, with a maximum of two from the same canon.
How do reserves and applications work? Reserves open on the third Friday of a month and close on the second Sunday of the following month, you can reserve two characters at a time and the reserve will last until the second Sunday of a month. Applications open on the second Friday of a month and are processed on the third Friday of a month. Once a character is accepted, there will be a mass intro log the following day (Saturday). App challenges are not allowed, nor are extensions on reserves. Please see the application post for more details.
What is this intro mingle? The intro mingle log is a place where all new characters must join the game, and is posted the day after applications are processed. The post contains options for action and network segments to provide choice.
I want to go on hiatus, am I exempt from AC? That depends on how long your hiatus is, please see the hiatus post for more details.
I want to pick up a previously dropped character, can I? Of course! When characters are dropped, they simply disappear from Haven.
What happens if a post goes over 5000 comments? This is a recent addition as this has happened a few times and we've hit CAPTCHA. If a post goes over 5000 comments and there is a thread you want to continue, just head on over to this overflow post.

In Haven North (or the Haven area with the housing block and all) is it possible to find anything like makeup or hair products in even a barely usable/not-completely-dried-up condition, or would someone have to get creative in concocting their own (and if so, what's available to use for this)?
I'm thinking about apping a character who is basically like a pokemon tamer but with ghosts. However, they tend to keep only two ghosts actively out and with them, so would they be able to be brought to Haven? And I'm gonna guess they wouldn't be able to recruit new ghosts unless they were player controlled.
Characters can bathe, fill the toilet cistern, or do laundry by hauling up buckets of water from the well and filling containers with them - or they just don't bathe!
If someone apped a character who needed to periodically cover themselves in water, then that would be the same as bathing. Pulling up several buckets of water and filling something to use as a bath.
Hello! I'm considering a character who's got super speed - are there any limits on this? I see during events they can taken away or limited, but would their speed be limited any other time?
Because of the nature of Haven North and not being able to stay there for a long time, it would be impossible to read all the books in a few hours.

Hello! I may be considering a character from a book (James Carstairs of The Infernal Devices) and in this book he has... something of a disability. When he was younger he was dosed with something called 'yin fen', which is a kind of drug in this series. He can't live with out it or it would kill him and the very thing that will eventually kill him anyway is what keeps him alive. If I were to bring Jem in, would this kind of addiction be cured?
I didn't really see this kind of question asked so I thought I'd... y'know. double check lol
Kon is in the mood to do something dumb and reckless. I have come up with two options for him.
1. The convenience store is the most obvious target for his needs, as that is where the Luthor thing went down and that is at the heart of Kon's need to prove himself through wanton property destruction. I was wondering though -- since it is just Kon, and this is not going to go well for him, would you like to play this out, or to save time, hash out how the encounter would most likely go?
2. Something else that I have been thinking about for a long time is the trains in East. Would it be possible for Kon to use his tactile telekinesis to latch onto a train as it hurtled past and rip a hole in the outside to get on board and ride it to its destination? If he could succeed in this, I'd like to open it up to other characters to be involved with. Would this be a worthwhile thing to do or not?
1. If one person attacks the convenience store alone, the store will go all out physical assault to kill them almost immediately rather than rely on psychological weapons. The store is weaker the more people it has to focus on.
2. He definitely could do this. It would require a mod log, which I am happy to play through with you whenever you want (though please be aware an event is starting tonight and if Kon is on a train, he may be unable to participate, so waiting until after might be the best choice).
So a question concerning people not physically aging in Haven.
Would it be possible to update characters after a series has ended?
In usual cases, I'd assume no, but since Reborn has future timeline material without actually having an epilogue set years in the future, I decided to ask.
You see, there is an arc that takes place ten years in the future, so we get to see how characters look and act in the future, the character I play, Hibari, included.
Though Reborn is also completed with how it runs on parallels. They defeat the enemy in the future and when they return to the normal timeline, characters involved that didn't go to the future get memories from these events. Because of this, the bad guy is found and taken into custody, and basically, the disaster is supposed to have been prevented. However, there are no proof of it actually changing. After all, just because you do something to change the future, it doesn't mean it will get better. This is proved within canon, too.
So basically, would I be able to do a canon update to ten or so years post canon, since the material exist?

So it turned out to be more of a canon update question than anything okay...that was not what I intended but alright, this makes more sense than what I was going to ask originally. Or well, it's better formed in explanation than what I first wrote..
I was thinking of maaaybe apping this guy, but is it possible to limit his powers somehow? Like, Yao corp doing something to downpower him a little bit? Otherwise he might accidentially destroy all of Haven in one go (it happened to the enemy base in the manga...so much for stealth).
When you apply, simply put in the abilities section to what extent he will be able to use his powers, and if there are any further clarifications to make then we can discuss it then!
Hey I was considering apping Chase here and his powers involve having a telepathic link with a dinosaur named Old Lace and I was wondering if she would be allowed? She isn't a HUGE one, size comparison to a person.
I've read some of the questions for minor characters. Would a character that you learn about mainly through heresay + a flashback (because they die before you actually get to meet them) be too minor/too close to being an canon OC?
And would it help at all if they were transplanted from another game?
If they don't appear in canon themselves then they are too minor, I'm afraid. If they appear in the flashback and it is substantial enough to gain sufficient insight into their personality then they have appeared in the canon and that's fine to apply for.
Hi, I was planning on apping Laura here and I wanted to double check on how things might work on her arrival if I apped her from a canon point where she has been severely injured (her arm having been cut off). She has an extreme regeneration ability and would not be bleeding any longer but it would take a couple hours after arrival for her arm to finish regrowing itself. So would she be allowed to enter with the injury left alone? It's not critical or lethal to her at that point. It would be more like she was an amputee and after a few hours, her arm would have grown back entirely.
Also her severed arm would be in her possession at this canon point and inside said arm are her adamantium covered claws. Would they be considered weapon enough for her arm to be brought to the game with her? They are her natural claws augmented by metal and she would be finding a way to re-insert them into her newly regrown arm.
I'm thinking about apping Ryuuko here (from Kill la Kill) in the future, but regarding her items, I have a question. She happens to wear a sentient, talking uniform named Senketsu (here, for more information) and can't use most of her powers without him.
I'm completely fine with her not arriving with him at all, since he's probably considered a character himself, and giving up the powers she gets from transforming with him is A-OK. Her canon point would likely be from a place where she was wearing him, so would she arrive in her undergarments or a non-talking, non-powered uniform? (Or in one of her other sets of clothing?)
May I ask before I make a decision, please, if Senketsu is ever seen interacting with people without Ryuuko?
This is because we do have other sentient bound characters (Crona and Ragnarok, Nanoha and Raising Heart), because they are never seen apart, but if Senketsu could be applied for and interact without Ryuuko around then he wouldn't be able to come as an item.
I'm wanting to app a character that, though they existed in canon and there is video/photo evidence of them and such, due to an big breakup between people offscreen and their abrupt removal from the group, most of their official/canon information has been deleted from the major websites. I can link a few things, but it's difficult to compile lot to prove what is canon information and what is fanon and all of that business.
What do you think I should do? Is there still a possibility that I can bring them in or is that too wishy-washy?
The weather in Haven is artificially simulated, so it would not feel normal. However it is linked to the real sky and so he may be able to slightly affect it (for example, turning heavy rain into lighter rain).
Would there be a way for a character to be anon? Mainly asking this so Kal could keep his Secret Identity, but I can play around some other ways if it's not possible
No, the phone displays a picture of who is calling. Although if they use someone else's phone, the character would appear as the owner of the phone on a call.
I have a question. Ulla here is an Idol of Murder. Anyone who hears her voice or sees her eyes, dies. She's a princess of death, so in order to not kill someone she doesn't speak, and keeps a cover over her eyes.
She normally speaks through writing things down, or else sign language. If she was to use sign language in the game, would it translate (...somehow) like other languages, so that people are able to understand? Or would she depend on people who can do sign language to be understood.
I would say you had two options with this sort of power. Either you could nix the speaking causing death, leaving her just with a need to cover her eyes, or else she would have to be dependent on people who could speak sign language.
quick question! i know the the creatures in the tunnel are edible BUT (assuming they come back once the tunnels are fixed) do they have blood specific to whatever creature they've become (also assuming they actually were humans before), or will they have human blood?
After noticing that the building is slowly falling into a state of disrepair, Lambda here would probably begin to investigate the apartment building to find out what the structural integrity is and to come up with an estimate as to how long it'd take before the building is basically uninhabitable.
So my question is, just how much damage has the building sustained? Like, as a percentage if at all possible. And also, what would she be able to give as an estimate for how long the building has left to last? I'm totally fine with the number being off, either because the damage becomes more eratic and thus her prediction becomes ruined or because her sensors are on the fritz, but yeah.
She can certainly come up with an estimate! Currently it's at about 18% damage and her estimate might be late February/early March, which is just off by a couple of weeks too late.
i feel like this should be obvious but i just want to make sure.
the character i'm apping is paralyzed from the waist down and can't walk. in canon he normally uses a horse or a wheelchair to get around. obviously, the horse is out of the question as an "item" to bring over, but is a wheelchair? he can technically get around without it (he has crazy upper body strength) but i was wondering.
This girl here is a host to two supernatural beings, an angel and a demon. Their powers are capped since her body is only human, but the angel can possess her body to talk to people with her consent. The demon is more malicious and a heavier strain on her soul, but won't possessed Amane (it's content to slowly wear down Amane until she's consumed in canon).
Basically, if I bring in Amane, can she bring in Remiel and Jezebel? I can play without them, just want to know my options for app writing.
May I just ask if the angel and demon are ever seen outside of her body (as in, could they be applied for as separate entities with their own bodies), or are they always possessing her?
Do those poppies only pop up on the staircases or do they also appear elsewhere like say, inside the rooms? Also, are these vines the ones specifically from The Ruins or are they just normal rampaging vines?
hello! i have a question in regards to alex's condition. it says in the FAQ that any "life-threatening injury or illness" will immediately be healed so that they can do things when they first arrive. alex has a particular condition involving withdrawal symptoms from drugs she'd been forced to take in the past — specifically, she suffers from hallucinations, paranoia, and anxiety/panic. in canon, she's been subscribed pills to help combat her symptoms. she would just pop one when she feels herself beginning to spiral.
1) would these withdrawal symptoms remain with her upon her arrival? 2) if so, will she allowed a bottle of those pills as one of her three items? (knowing full well that, should she run out, she might regain those withdrawal symptoms again)
If the withdrawal is life threatening when it happens, then it would be removed on entering the game. If it's not life threatening, then you're welcome to bring in a bottle of pills as an item.
