Personality: When Beka is not working she tends to be extremely shy. When speaking to people she does not know, especially large groups of people, she will often stutter or be unable to speak at all. If she is not forced to speak then she will not do so at all, preferring to hide or merely observe. When she is at work however she becomes much bolder; seemingly forgetting her shyness all together. She becomes almost completely focused on the job she is on, to the point of obsession.
Day to day Beka is a very serious, quiet young women. Those that know her well know and enjoy her stern mother like manner to those that she allows to get close. She is an old soul and even as a child was known to scold her friends when she felt they needed it. She takes responsibility very seriously and feels that responsibility for those around her and has since she was a young child. This is seen in the way she would take care of her younger siblings and the way she felt the need to protect their mother. It was her sense of duty that lead her to do the things she did and that same since of duty that started her on her path to becoming a Dog.
She's a practical, tidy sort of girl. It makes her feel better when she and her space are clean and put together well. This often leads to frustration, given how messy she gets at work. However, though she likes to be presentable she would very much rather have simple things. Fine things make her feel guilty or silly. She does own a few pretty things but rarely wears them and the things she does have tend to have more sentimental value then that of coin. Her one true vanity is her hair, which she wears long though she has to braid it to keep it out of the way.
Beka is a very lawful, straight-laced person. She believes strongly in justice. This makes her a rare sort of Dog, one that actually believes in what she does. She loves her Country and her Lower City. She knows the people of the Lower City, knows and cares for them. She fights for them, even when they are the one's trying to break her head. They are hers, to protect or take down. She has an especially soft spot for animals, children or those that are helpless. She has often gotten into a tight spot or two because of it.
This leads, of course, to her temper. She has one, big time. Her biggest trigger is hurting those that can't fight back. She has others, though most of those take much longer to explode. She does have extremely good control of herself most of the time though she tends to brood, her bad temper simmering just under the service. Unless you know her well the only way you can tell is her eyes, which seem to become down right frightening when she is angry.
Beka, though shy, has a great many friends. People seem to flock around her and will not allow her to ignore them. Rats ( criminals ), children, Dogs ( Police ), a dog of the four legged kind, a Lady Knight, pigeons, dust spinners, The Royal Family, Mages, a consolation and even a God consider her a friend. She has no idea how she ended up with such a large and strange lot of friends but tries not to think about it too much. Each of these people is important to her and though it is difficult or at least should be, she wants them in her life and tries very hard to keep them. They in turn, knowing her as they do, try to make it easier on her when they can.
