APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED! The next application opening date is Friday 16th January, 7pm EST. The next application processing date is Friday 23rd January, 7pm EST.
IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE
We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.
In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.
You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.
Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.
If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.
Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.
We now have a test drive community at haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.
While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.
“i'm not the protagonist of a novel or anything... i'm a college student who likes to read, like you could find anywhere... but... if, for arguments sake, you were to write a story with me in the lead role... it would certainly be... a tragedy.”
The first thing to know about Ken Kaneki is that he’s a liar, through and through, and that every facet of his external personality is something that he’s specifically crafted in order to fit the role he thinks has been thrust upon him, rather than who he really is. There are many different layers of Kaneki, and we’ll be going through them in a semblance of chronological order. However, one of the most important base aspects doesn’t come into play until later chapters, and that will be the beginning point.
During chapter 118, it comes to light between a conversation between Kaneki’s best friend Hide and friend Touka that Kaneki isn’t the person he seems. He goes into a background story about he and Kaneki when they were both in elementary school, how Kaneki was quiet, reserved, read a lot and didn’t have a single friend but Hide. These are all traits he kept at surface level, but Hide goes on to tell about a night where Kaneki was cast as the main character in a play they were doing, and how he was fantastic. He tells Touka that he thinks Kaneki is a great actor, and a lot of his reactions are carefully formulated according to how he thinks he should react. This piece of information is important, and threw a light on a lot of how Kaneki was acting after a couple of traumatic events that happened.
But, with that in mind, let’s go back to the very beginning.
At face value, Kaneki is a very kind-hearted, very demure, and very soft-spoken person. Where he will joke and make humorous remarks with Hide as a mirror of Hide, he won’t do the same around any other person. This is because Kaneki is an actor—a foil of the person around him. When Kaneki was young, his mother died and he was forced into a difficult living situation with his aunt, wherein he learned that seeking praise for his achievements was forbidden, speaking up was forbidden, arguing was forbidden. All Kaneki’s achievements were to be achieved in silence, because it’s cruel of him to dare patronize his cousin by being more academically gifted than he. Because of the impact the aunt had on a young Kaneki, he learned to keep to himself, leaning only on Hide and never speaking of his positive achievements.
This evolved into something else, where he stops talking about critical events in his life. Throughout the entire manga, he tries to avoid telling anyone about what happened between him and Rize the night she turned him into a half-ghoul, and after failing to protect a dear friend from serious trauma, he cries to himself in the shower and vows to make himself stronger, rather than talking through his problems and getting some emotional closure. Outside of his Haven canon point, he takes this trait further and becomes a ghoul-hunting enigma. Nobody knows what he's after, and he doesn't tell a single person the things that happened to change him so dramatically.
However, he’s definitely a clever kid, and he’s always been a clever kid. Rather than seeking out comfort through his cold and vindictive aunt, he turned back to his most beloved friends—books. He says himself that after his father died at four years old, Kaneki turned to his extensive library, and found that reading the books his father left made him feel like he was having a conversation with him, reading what he read. This is likely why he never bothered to seek out any friendships; because all the friends he needed were only a turn of a page away.
Kaneki is a firm believer in his own experiences, and isn’t usually one to pass judgments on a situation he hasn’t been through beforehand. For example, despite all the media reports about ghouls running rampant in Tokyo, Kaneki questions whether they really exist, because he still hadn’t seen one. After his run-in with Rize, he then concludes that all ghouls must be bloodthirsty and cruel, because that was his experience. However, upon meeting Hinami and her mother, who will not hunt humans, he changes his perception again because of his own first-hand experience, and decides that it isn’t the ghouls who are wrong for needing to eat meat, but the world that is wrong for forcing it upon them. This is easy to tie back into the point earlier made that he is a very adaptive person, and is open to explanation.
He is very, very quick to trust. During the first half of the manga, this is one of Kaneki’s largest faults. He believes in his own morals, and believes that they are logical and sensible, and that everyone else must believe the same as him. He trusts his enemies to keep their word, his friends to be friends, and everything to be fair and lawful. This is rarely the case, and it always manages to throw him for a loop when things don’t seem to make moral sense to him, such as when his “friend” Tsukiyama decided to try and eat him. Up until the point he was drugged and thrown into a death pit, Kaneki still held onto a vain belief that he could trust Tsukiyama (and eventually ended up regarding the man as an ally, though one that he keeps a close, critical eye on). This is also shown when he goes out of his way to help Nishiki, despite the man attacking him, vomiting on his best friend, and attempting to kill the both of them.
While Kaneki tends to operate on a very rational level, there are times when he will do reckless things in a bout of irrationality. Upon becoming a ghoul and realizing that his peaceful way of life would be threatened, he fetches a butcher’s knife from his kitchen, lifts his shirt, and hypothesizes that if he stabs himself in the kidney, he will probably live, and the doctors will have to transplant him with a healthy, human kidney to replace the ghoul kidney given to him by Rize. He will also travel along the same line of thinking to protect his morals. Upon becoming a ghoul it is imperative that he consume human meat to survive, but Kaneki takes a firm stance that he just can’t consume a person, even if it will lead to his death, and tries to live with his ghoul hunger.
However, he has an extraordinarily difficult time controlling himself when he's hungry. He tends to lose focus, and the internal voice of his he constantly blocks out and ignores becomes his only voice, telling him to just eat already, anyone will do. The anime interpreted this inner voice as the voice of Rize, and it's her voice in his head that encourages him to embrace his inner ghoul. When he loses control of himself he's impossible to get through to unless extreme measures are taken, and the first time it's by Touka smashing him into the ground, and the second and third by realizing he just stabbed one of his close friends (Yomo, Banjou). Much later in the series it's revealed that he sometimes blacks out when he's lost control of himself, and can't remember what happened or what he did.
The inner Rize of his, however, he later eats in a symbolic embrace of being a ghoul.
Above all else, the innocent are Kaneki’s lifeline, and he will do absolutely anything to keep them from being harmed. He believes doing nothing while others lose their lives needlessly is unacceptable, and for their sake he would be willing to bend his own moral code. During his fight with Amon to protect Hinami and Touka, Kaneki bites him, in order to gather the strength to break his weapon, even if the result was that he lost his mind in his own hunger. But he can’t possibly kill a person, and eventually breaks down into tears, begging Amon to run before he does something he can’t take back. He wants to prove to Amon and the investigators that just because ghouls have to eat meat to survive, doesn’t mean they are bad people.
Upon becoming a ghoul, Kaneki’s stance on what is truly right and what is truly wrong changes dramatically according to his experiences. He used to think in black and white that ghouls were things which were evil and needed to be stopped, then after witnessing ghouls who were inherently good being killed by humans, wondered if it were the humans who were the evil ones. He is very aware and very perceptive, and open to gathering new ideas to change the way he thinks.
As a relatively new ghoul, Kaneki is considered to be pretty lousy when it comes to things that come to ghouls naturally. He can't control his kagune, he can't eat, he can't pretend to eat, and he can't keep his kakugan--his left eye--in check. Blood thrown in his face by an ally immediately sets it off, and it's set off when there's too much adrenaline in his system, but it isn't always clear just how much control he has over it, because while cutting up a body, it isn't triggered at all, possibly due to his disgust overwhelming it, but it isn't explicitly stated.
Thanks to his ghoul physiology, he can't eat a single shred of human food without immediately vomiting, because the changed texture of his ghoul tongue turns the flavors absolutely foul in his mouth, and he cringes at even the scent. He never eats around a person like ghouls learn to do, and lives entirely off cans of coffee.
But on a different note, Kaneki is a very loyal person, holds his friends to the highest value, and will do anything for them, bar none. Simply because he was asked, he puts his stomach through hell trying to help Touka eat the stew a beloved friend made, and he teaches himself to eat properly for the sole reason of being able to comfortably have lunch with Hide like he used to as a human.
Kaneki considers himself to be a weak person. He watched Fueguchi-san be beheaded before his very eyes and could do nothing about it—this rattled him, and he decided afterwards that he would become stronger in order to protect everyone. However, he only wants to do so without having to resort to his kagune. He says that the kagune of his—Rize’s kagune—cannot yet be used by him to help people. He sees its main function to be only breaking and hurting others, so he locks it away inside himself and refuses to use it.
He also has this little habit of deciding what is best for others on his own. He relies on his own judgement a lot, and would rather lie, hide, and deceive rather than letting a person deal with their hurt and react in their own way. During the Aogiri arc, he deliberately withholds the truth from Banjou about Rize to spare his feelings, and lies to Hide about being a ghoul despite knowing that not a single other person would ever be told. However, to his friends, he's a pretty terrible liar, and will always touch his face unconsciously when he isn't telling the truth.
Lastly, he can be considered a martyr of sorts. He considers his own safety to be low on his list of priorities, and will willingly sacrifice himself for the sake of others. Willingly. At the very end, coming upon his Haven canon point, Kaneki gives himself up for torture by a crazed ghoul known as Jason. He calls it excruciating, enough to drive a person mad, but Kaneki stays strong, because he believes that with him, Jason will keep his word and not hurt his friends—his blind naivety coming into play again where he fails to realize that not everyone is as true to their word as he is. His breaking point isn’t until he realizes that everything he went through was useless, and Jason was just going to kill his friends anyway. This is where he goes through and emerges his traumatic cocoon as someone else entirely.
Since meeting Rize Kamishiro at a coffee shop, Kaneki has lived as a “ghoul”—a monster that wears human skin, according to him. The differences between a ghoul and a human are staggering, and not only because a ghoul must consume a human to survive. Ghoul’s are bred fighters, and fighting is in their very DNA.
There are four different kinds of combat ghouls, and Kaneki is what is known as a “rinkaku” ghoul. Rinkaku ghouls are exceptionally strong and heal very quickly, and it’s said that they are also superior in their tenacity compared to the other types, too.
However, the true strength of a ghoul lies in what is known as a “kagune”. From eating humans, ghouls gain a stock of something called an RC cell; it’s said to be like liquid muscle, and can flow like blood while being solid like teeth. RC cells are a requirement for a kagune to manifest, and a hungry ghoul cannot manifest a kagune. Inside the ghoul is a “kakuhou”; a pouch where the RC cells are stored, and its place varies depending on the kind of ghoul; for a rinkaku like Kaneki, it is in his lower back, and this is where his kagune is released from.
The kagune itself is made from RC cells piercing through the skin, and rinkaku ghouls have a kind that is thin and pliable, like a tentacle made of scales. It has the texture of muscle, and are controlled like you would control a separate limb.
Being a rinkaku-type ghoul, Kaneki’s specialty is regeneration, but he doesn’t learn how to use it properly until later in the series. It is said that rinkaku kagune are very brittle, but are also easy to mold into different shapes. When using a kagune, a ghoul’s physical strength, resilience, and mobility all increase, and Kaneki is not an exception.
Kaneki’s kagune isn’t his weapon of choice for the most part, and he is a very avid fighter in hand-to-hand combat, but when fighting another ghoul he can be considered very weak unless manifesting his kagune (which he often has a difficult time doing, because he refuses to eat).
Items/Weapons: - A copy of The Black Goat's Egg, by Sen Takatsuki, filled with nothing but blank pages on arrival. - A packet of “special” sugar, to curb his appetite. - A mask.
Sample Entry: [ Compared to his usual polite, enthusiastic demeanor, Kaneki looks very, very off today. He's gone pale, shaking, sweat rolling down his head. His hair sticks up at odd angles like he's been running his fingers through it excessively, and below the patch over his eye, it looks like there are the tiny little tails of veins peeking out from beneath. The most noticeable thing is, though, that he looks scared. ]
I've been here a while... Yeah, it's been a while, and I like it, mostly, but there's... um. I need someone's help.
[ He wrings his fingers together, and drool drips obscenely from his mouth--he's quick to mop it up, embarrassed. ]
I need someone who can... regenerate their body? Not someone invincible, but someone who can't be killed by something like an open wound. And uh, a high pain tolerance would be a good thing too...
It isn't for anything weird, really! I just... I need someone's help. I'm really sorry. I can repay you, somehow. I will.
Sample Entry Two: He's famished. He's hungry. Even before Haven, the perpetual slow gnaw was something Kaneki had just learned to live with. The only way to satiate a ghoul's hunger would be with meat, but... No, he'll never do it. He's still human, too. He can't hurt a person just because he hasn't eaten for a while, but...
He's so hungry. A ghoul's hunger isn't the kind of torture he would wish on anyone (hellish, painful, a constant reminder that he's still somewhat of a monster), and he pulls his hood over his head, over his eyes, tries to stop breathing through his nose and inhaling the scent of meat, meat, meat. He can't be more than a block from his apartment, but there are too many people on the streets; they're getting too close, they're sweating too much, the small ones, the fat ones, the lean ones, they all look so good why don't you just drag one into an alley and--
No. He's alright. He can see his apartment. He made it.
Or so he thinks. A step away from the curb and a woman grabs him by the arm. She's gentle, her fingers soft, but it feels like electricity up his arm and Kaneki turns in a hurry, knocking her off her balance and tumbling her bags to the ground.
"Ah, I'm sorry! I was surprised, it was my fault." He's thankful he didn't impale her with his kagune. He's thankful he's too weak for it to even pierce through his skin.
He gathers the woman's things and hands them too her, but she drops the bag right away and stares at him, horrified. He realizes too slowly that his eyepatch has moved a little too far over, and the dark abyss of his sclera is on full display, practically screaming not human right from his face.
If the woman says anything after that, he doesn't hear a word. The only thing he does is run.
Character Name: John Winchester Canon: Supernatural Canon Point: 1.22 (End of the episode with the car crash) Background/History:http://www.supernaturalwiki.com/index.php?title=John_Winchester#History Previous Game History: None Personality: John Winchester is a deeply flawed human being. Whatever happiness and light heartedness he once had died the second his wife went up in flames. He hides the pain of losing Mary under a veneer of gruffness. He resorted back to becoming the marine, the soldier. It was easier for him than allowing his emotions to consume and likely destroy him. Even to the point of blocking out any sign of obvious affection and love for his children. The pain and loneliness he felt after Mary were enough to drive him to keep taciturn about his real emotions and thoughts. Rather than openly admitting he is proud of his boys, he prefers to show them by counting on them with certain cases.
He is single minded in his obsession to kill the demon that destroyed his wife. This is his Moby Dick, he is willing to chase the demon to the point of madness, knowing he is likely going to be defeated. While he focuses on other cases, they have only been stepping stones for him, leading up to the final battle. He is well aware that he will die from the demon and is willing to sacrifice himself. His torment and need to protect his children making the sacrifice much easier to bear.
Despite the fact that he is generally harsh and stern, deep down, John genuinely loves his children. They have been the other driving factor of his life. His need to keep them safe went so far that he fought with Sam about his desire to go to college. He was frightened to let his son out of his sight, knowing that he would be without his protection. He said cruel words that drove his son away, but they stemmed from that irrational fear.
Like any parent, he makes mistakes, but he does recognize them and apologize to his sons in time. His desire for some sort of normalcy manifesting itself in his interactions with his youngest son, Adam. However, John always returns to the life of hunting the Supernatural. Beyond the vengeance, he does it for his sons, wanting to see them safe and not resting till they are.
His greatest love was Mary. They didn't like each other much at first, but once a cupid interfered and they were brought together, she was his greatest passion. After her death, he had a few brief affairs, but they never lasted long or meant as much. He wore his ring, even after becoming a widower. In his eyes and heart, he is still married to his wife. The mere mention of her is enough to bring tears to his eyes.
He is passionate about his work, allowing hunting to dictate his life. He is unable to make friends easily, usually preferring to focus on business. Bobby Singer (a long time friend) , remembering when he pulled a gun on John commented that John usually has that effect on people. Not many people talk about him fondly, unless it is about his ability as a hunter.
Only his children speak well of John. Despite all their fights, they have a deep rooted love for each other. Family always comes first.
Abilities/Powers: Organization, hunting, tracking, military training, research. All the things that make a good hunter.
Items/Weapons: The colt (a revolver that can kill any Supernatural creature), his journal (which lists his experiences hunting Supernatural creatures as well as his research, his wedding ring
Sample Entry: [He raises himself from the ground, feeling his head or arms for any sign of injury. His natural response to waking in a foreign area. Slowly, he reaches in his pocket, searching for a weapon. But there's nothing. It's gone.
Slowly, the memory comes back to him. The argument with Sam, Dean injured, near death in the back of the Impala. The sudden collision of a truck against the car. Where were the boys?]
Whoever is listening to this, my name is John Winchester. Maybe you've heard of me. [He waits for some kind of response, but there is none.] Listen to me, if you've taken my boys, if you've hurt them somehow, I promise you, I will send you back to Hell with the other bastards I've hunted before.
[Still no sound.] You want a hostage? You want someone to hurt? Take me instead. Their worthless to you! [The silence is starting to raise his fears.] Dean! Sammy! Answer me! [Still nothing, the sharpness in his voice grows.] Sam! Dean! Answer, that's an order!
[His body feels weak as he nearly collapses. Alone. He's all alone. First Mary...now his boys.]
Dammit, please!
Sample Entry Two:
The voice mail gutted John, far more than any vampire or demon had before. In all of his years of hunting and all of his years of searching, obsessing over what lurked in the dark, never had he been stricken so deeply as he was listening to Dean's voice.
Dad? I know I’ve left you messages before. I don’t even know if you’ll get ‘em. But I’m with Sam. And we’re in Lawrence. And there’s somethin’ in our old house. I don’t know if it’s the thing that killed mom or not, but... I don’t know what to do. So, whatever you’re doin’, if you could get here. Please. I need your help, dad.
So much of the words struck John inside the vulnerable and raw place that had never healed, not since Mary's death. He could remember Dean, the little boy so innocent and loving, carrying Sam from the house as it burned around them. He could see the moment the child in him died and he became something haunted, something guilt ridden. The day Dean stopped being a child and was forced to be an adult.
He had been at John's side growing up, sharing the information and secret of the world of hunting. Sammy kept in the dark. Only Dean had heard what needed to be done and how relentless his father was in his efforts to get justice.
It hadn't been fair or kind, John knew that much. He forced a burden on his son that should never have been placed on a child. It cut at him, but not deeply enough to convince him to stop. Especially now with the chance that Mary's killer had returned home.
Mary. She had been a part of him, the love of his life, taken before his eyes in an inferno of Hellish design. It ate away his soul until he felt like he was nothing left inside, nothing but a voidless husk that continued searching for a demon that may never appear again. No matter how close he got, Azazeal was always two steps ahead.
What was this now but a diversion? Something to keep him from finding the information he needed, the knowledge about why his wife was killed in the first place? He couldn't afford to let himself be sloppy, otherwise he would be killed.
But...the way Dean sounded close to tears...it reminded him of that child that he had suppressed long ago. The little boy left without a mother, that looked to him now for help...just as he helped John everyday after his hunts. He would always come to his side, look at him with those wide eyes and say, "It's going to be okay, dad."
How could he abandon him now? Abandon either of his sons?
"It's going to be okay, Dean." He said softly, shutting off his phone. "I'm coming."

Vincent Nightray | Pandora Hearts | Reserve Expired | 1/4
Character Name: Vincent Nightray Canon: Pandora Hearts Canon Point: Between Retract 95 and 96, after being stabbed by Glen and before being confronted by Gilbert. Background/History: Pandora Hearts | Vincent (Pandora Hearts Wikia) Personality:
On the surface, Vincent Nightray is composed and sophisticated. He appears to be always calm and kind, speaking softly and always smiling with 'gentle eyes'. In this pretence, Vincent is aided by his chain, the Dormouse, to appear as a constantly sleepy and lethargic, incapable of harm. He convinces those that knows about his power that he 'can't control his chain fully yet'. Vincent's carefully cultivated the belief that no one would suspect the kindly gentleman when things suddenly take a turn for the worse. Dormouse sometimes causes Vincent to sleepwalk, and even in that state Vincent's obsession with his brother is obvious, calling out for his brother even when unconscious of walking.
However, that Vincent is an incredibly well-crafted mask hiding he unstable monster underneath. Vincent is a scheming, sociopathic, violent individual who cares little for others except for his brother and a few choice others (One could even say he cares too much for his brother). Vincent, as a master manipulator, will do anything to achieve his goals. For Vincent, people are chess pieces and tools to be used and discarded once they have accomplished their mission. The way he smiles and the way he portrays himself in the public sphere is an extension of how he deceives others into seeing the side of him that he wants them to see. Like most chess masters, he keeps his cards to himself, and even his closest servants do not know his most well-hidden secrets (such as his involvement in the Tragedy of Saliber). He is incredibly skilled going about this, and even when engaged in banter with his opponents, Vincent reveals nothing that he doesn't mean to reveal. He has no limits to how low he'll sink to accomplish his goals He'll poison his servants, kidnap and poison important people, or attempt to poison his own brother if he thinks it'll get what he wants. After all, people are just tools to be used, so why stop at a certain level?
In particular to his view that people are tools are women. Vincent dislikes women due to a series of events in early childhood that caused him recurring trauma. He sees himself above them, and he'll charm them and discard them as he wills while maintaing his status in the noble public sphere. Vincent flatly states that he hates women and everything they do, especially the way they gossip. He'll seduce them, flirting and throwing fake hints, only to corrupt their purity and bed them only to rid himself of them when he tires of them like a child tiring of a toy. His misogyny and mistrust of them is a result of his childhood, starting when his mother sold him and his brother to a freak show because of Vincent's ominous red eye and the social stigmata attached to it. The woman who claimed to help him save his brother caused a tragedy with repercussions that would traumatize him even a hundred years into the future, and the little girl in the tower who made fun of him (whether in genuine curiosity of with malicious intent) for being a "Child of Misfortune" with his red eye incurred his wrath. Because she made fun of him, this caused his brother, Gilbert to attack her. She got upset and cried to Gilbert and Vincent's rescuer, and Vincent, who liked both of them dearly, slit her pet cat's throat and gouged out its eyes with a pair of scissors in revenge, creating a violent coping mechanism whenever he felt stressed.
One would think that with his misogynist, Vincent would refrain from touching women, however, Vincent is extremely touchy with others. He drapes himself and his hands all over his servant, Echo, without her permission, and feels up Lottie Baskerville when discussing plans, without her permission either. This stems form his belief that once again, people are almost worthless. Also surprisingly is Ada Vessalius, whom although Vincent decides is naive and disgusting, continues to spend time with her even though he claims to hate her. Her actions confuses him greatly, and while he would not admit he cares about her, still does not actively push her away. Although he's only using her for her value in his plans, her kindness towards him baffles him greatly.
The woman that told him how to interrupt the important ceremony caused much more a stir. Because of her, Gilbert opened the door to the Abyss, an otherworldly equivalent to the world that they lived in. With the gate opened, the town of Sablier, being held up by chains, began sinking into the Abyss. Those that fell into the Abyss would become denizens of the abyss unwittingly, unable to gain salvation. In order to save them, the Baskervilles killed everyone in Sablier, and the city sank into the Abyss. Once he had escaped from the abyss, eighty-five years had passed, but he had not aged a bit due to the Abyss being in an alternate dimension. However, the amount of blood and gore that Vincent witnessed there everybody was traumatizing, especially when he convinced himself that the number of bloody bodies at his feet was all his doing. Vincent's already fragile mind snapped. Vincent feels the repercussions of the Tragedy of Sablier, even by the time of the present story.
Which brings us back to his unstable state of mind. Not only did Sablier traumatize him to the extent that his practiced calm mask cracks, but he personally experiences and sees the mutilated bodies again, displaying symptoms similar to PTSD. Anything could trigger these visions, but usually acts of violence by people other than himself, or general chaos in bloAs for his own violent disposition, Vincent destroys curtains and pillows and stuffed animals and abuses servants with complete disregard (in part due to his lack of empathy for others), and in general, anything he can get his hands on. He is partial to torture possibly as a result. He states that "he really feels the need to torture something" when he's particularly stressed out.
The underlying cause of Vincent's instability and personality is his brother, Gilbert. Due to Gilbert's care of him after their mother abandoned them, Vincent became attached and dependent on his brother until they were saved by Jack Vessalius. Gilbert could have abandoned Vincent at any time, yet chose not to. Because Gilbert chose not to, Vincent convinced himself that he was dragging his brother down and that Gilbert would have happiness without him. Although no words of thanks could explain how appreciative Vincent is of Gilbert for taking care him, the guilt overpowers Vincent's appreciation for Gilbert until this day. Even though his rescuer made them both feel safe and welcomed, this eventually culminated in the Tragedy unfolding due to Vincent being easily convinced that his brother would die if he did not intervene. Vincent became determined to make Gilbert happy because of the guilt he feels for being helpless when Gilbert was always by his side. If it wasn't for him, they never would have been sold, and Gilbert's happiness never would have been compromised. If it wasn't for him, Gilbert's childhood might have (or as he convinces himself, would have) been happy instead of spent on the streets. The disgust he feels with himself at being so helpless carries to the core of his being.
Vincent would do anything to make Gilbert happy, desperately so. He kills for Gilbert, schemes around for Gilbert, and hides information of what happened in the Tragedy of Sablier because Vincent's fierce jealousy of anyone that spends time with Gilbert. Although he himself might not enjoy something, he makes an exception when Gilbert asks him to do something. He's so obsessed Gilbert's happiness that, instead of helping Gilbert when Gilbert loses his memories of the Tragedy of Sablier, destroys the evidence after going through a elaborative scheme that is completely counter-productive. Throughout the events of the story, it is revealed that Vincent is working with the Baskervilles to accomplish the goal of erasing himself from ever existing. By erasing himself from existence, Gilbert never would have suffered the awful childhood while having to take care of Vincent.
However, because Vincent swore himself to the current leader of the Baskervilles and is stopped by others who want him to survive, his own mind is fuddled with an existential crises. Vincent loses control over Demios, his other Chain, while overpowered by confusion. Confused and desperately clinging to his master's wishes, Vincent arrives in Haven shortly after being stabbed by Glen.
Before discussing his supernatural powers as a result of his "Chains", we must discuss what they are and how to obtain such powers. In the world of Pandora Hearts, there exists an otherworldly counterpart to the world, and Chains are denizens of this world who can only escape that world if they contract with a human. In general, Chains possess high regeneration abilities and tend to be durable against attacks. There are two ways to contract with a human, legally and illegally. In order to contract a chain legally, the contractor must be a member of Pandora with a blood mirror called "Carcere". The process of contracting legally requires the acceptance of the Chain itself. In exchange, the Contractor will stop aging, and the power of the legally contracted chain will be reduced.
The illegal way of contracting a chain requires that the contractor drink the chain's blood. Doing so causes a blank clock-shaped seal to appear on the contractor's body. Every time the contractor uses the Chain's power, the hands on the clock will turn. Once the clockface is full, the contractor will be dragged down to the Abyss, persumably with no escape. In addition, using the Chain's power will cause the contractor immense pain. Legally, Vincent is contracted to the chain, Dormouse, which has the power to put people to sleep, even against their will. Dormouse seems to affect Vincent as well, putting him in a lethargic state when he isn't focused and being the cause behind Vincent's constant state of sleepiness. Vincent has illegally contracted Demios the Executioner (or also named The Queen of Hearts). In addition to following Vincent's command sometimes, Demios possess the ability to decapitate others in an instant, an ability Vincent has used many times throughout the series. Because Vincent is a Baskerville, his seal does not have clockhands, meaning that he will not suffer the ill-effects of a complete revolution and will not be dragged into the Abyss, nor does he seem to feel the pain associated with illegal contracts, because only Baskervilles are supposed to form contracts with Chains in mythos. Vincent is not in full command of Demios.
Vincent is a Baskerville, meaning that he possess nigh-immortality and is able to recover from normally mortal injuries. Of course, it's still possible to kill him by dealing just too much damage, and his body is otherwise human. He will still feel pain as he is otherwise human with an incredibly fast rate of regeneration.
Human
As a human, Vincent is also a master manipulator. He's able to use people like chess pieces in his plans without consideration for their feelings. Although he prefers to use his charm and smiling his way to the top, he has no qualms about using other methods when needed. Speaking of other methods, Vincent has been shown to be a skilled torturer.
Vincent is also an accurate shooter, having demonstrated shooting with precision from an early age. His brother has mentioned that Vincent was more skilled than him, even though he had been practicing for longer. One could say that Vincent is a prodigy when it comes to sharpshooting.
Lastly, Vincent's red eye classifies him as a "Child of Misfortune." While it is true that his life has been fairly unlucky, it is unknown if his red eye grants him any other powers besides disrupting the apparent flow of this world.
Items/Weapons:
- His Carcere, the symbol of his contract with Dormouse. - One pistol with full chamber. - One pair of fancy, golden scissors.

Sample Entry Two: (Taken a few hours after the Test Drive!, I hope this is alright.)
Vincent hasn't been in Haven long enough to understand everything that's happened to this abandoned, run-down town with its boarded up windows and shadowed streets. He knows enough to function and navigate, and that's enough for now, even if everything is different from what he's used to. He's made his way out of the curious little cabin considered a 'home', but the sickening feeling in his lungs doesn't go away no matter where he is. He's thankful, at least, that he can move around without his legs giving out whenever he takes a step.
The overwhelming pressure on him is unbearable, like the darkness and hollow space of the Abyss. With a glance around to makes sure he's truly alone in the shadows of the building ruins, Vincent grips the cloth over his chest, wadding it in his first and wheezing, coughing until his lungs adjust. He can still feel the ominous aura bearing down on him-- whatever is causing that uncomfortable feeling in his chest is here to stay.
He squeezes his eyes shut, thinking back to Demios and the stab wound in his chest. Vincent should be ashamed, for abandoning his Master and for waking up in some place without permission. He should go back to the gate, for Leo, for his brother whose voice he barely caught when he passed out, but he doesn't really want to see Gilbert right now. Vincent laughs, what would he even say? Utter a heartfelt apology so vile he could vomit?
Vincent glances around the haze, stepping out of his little corner in the shadows. He's thinking again, planning, and decides that it's important to come up with a plan of action before continuing any further in this town with its blurry apparitions. Information is a priority in this forsaken place. He still needs to know if Glen erased him, since he doesn't remember anything from after being stabbed. Straightening out his clothes and pulling his face into its usual smile and pretence, Vincent proceeds. There are stragglers here and there, with confused faces matching his own. One seems confused in particular. He swallows, keeping the relief hidden and the look on his face cheerful.
This place is Haven, where people are supposedly 'safe.' Although, what exactly are they supposed to be safe from? Vincent mulls the question in his own mind, and takes a step forward, guarded as Demios bites at the back of his mind. "Excuse me... I couldn't help but notice..." His voice is sweet, ringing like a bell, and cloaking his insecurity.
Character Name: Shatterstar | Gaveedra Seven Canon: Marvel Comics (Earth-616) Canon Point: X-Factor #254 (Hell on Earth War storyline) Background/History:Shatterstar | X-Factor Investigations
Personality:
Shatterstar's pretty much exactly what you'd expect from a genetically engineered gladiator from the future who loves television, sex, and a good fight: he's got a lot of personality. He wasn't always like that though, as Star's earliest appearances showed him devoid of most emotions, a perfect warrior for televised violent sport, but with a strong sense of right and wrong. When given the chance to help free Mojoworld from its tyrannical ruler, Shatterstar took it, tired of being a slave to Mojo, and took the first steps toward his independence both physically and emotionally.
Growing up in an environment completely focused on televised gladiatorial combat, Shatterstar has a deep love of fighting (and television, oddly). Not only is he a good fighter, but he enjoys the thrill of combat, eager to test himself against any opponent he can. As a warrior, he is clever strategist, though sometimes his reckless excitement gets the better of him, and he never shows hesitation in battle. He fights fairly and honorably (though he's not above finding loopholes in his warrior's code at times), and he sees no problem with killing, having grown up dealing with death his entire life. In battle, an honorable death is the best outcome one can hope for after losing. This of course doesn't always line up with the morals or ideology of his teammates.
Despite this, his teammates and friends are people he protects fiercely. His time on Earth opened the door for Star to explore his own emotions, allowing him to become more than just an emotionless warrior, and over time he developed friendships with people across multiple teams (X-Force, X-Factor, etc.). Once someone has his loyalty, it's a sure deal. He always makes sure to repay favors, and those who fight alongside him are given the same protection in turn. Despite how quick Star is to join (or start) a fight, he is surprisingly not quick to anger, unless someone attacks or insults one of his friends (or makes fun of the 'tattoo' on his face. Do not insult the tattoo). In and out of battle, Shatterstar is a loyal, trustworthy man, one worth having on your side.
One person in particular, his boyfriend Rictor, is especially important to him; their friendship is why Shatterstar returned to Earth after spending time away in his home dimension. He loves Rictor deeply and is convinced he'll never feel that strongly for anyone else, but the vast, confusing world of romance and sexuality is new to Star, and he wants to explore it in every way possible. Understandably, Rictor is not happy about this, especially when Shatterstar flirts with or kisses other people right in front of him. Any sex Shatterstar has that's not with Rictor, however, isn't an emotional thing to him. It's all just for fun no-strings-attached sex. And even though he doesn't see why Rictor should get upset about it, he in return can't help being jealous of Rictor's previous serious relationships. Sex is one thing, but emotional attachments are another thing entirely, and Shatterstar still doesn't fully understand his own emotions, let alone other people's. No matter what he wants Rictor there beside him as he figures them out.
Star's other great love is the television. TV was the main form of entertainment on Mojoworld, and much of Shatterstar's free time on Earth is spent watching TV shows and movies. He'll quote lines from films like Gladiator and old westerns in battle and try to reenact scenes like the titular one from Singin' in the Rain. When he learned Spanish to have another way to communicate with Rictor, he learned it through watching TV. He'll watch pretty much anything and enjoys seeing new styles and genres. Like with fighting, it seems like there are some things from Star's old life that he can't shake.
Even with everything he's picked up through his TV addiction, Shatterstar occasionally remains socially clueless. He can be tactless, saying things honestly without a filter even if it's something the other person might not want to hear, or he'll crack a joke at a serious moment. People sometimes have to point out things that are considered faux pas to him, or tell him to shut up if he's poking around a sensitive subject. By now however he's spent enough time on Earth to know when to stay quiet or how not to completely embarrass himself. He doesn't mean to make people uncomfortable, he just doesn't always understand why people are so often made uncomfortable by things that shouldn't really bother them.
Overall though he has a amicable personality and is quick to make friends (though some can find him more annoying than friendly). He's more thoughtful than people give him credit for, sometimes doing unexpected or kind things that most people wouldn't even think about, such as giving his umbrella to a homeless man in the rain. He loves trying new things and meeting new people (and, of course, possibly getting to fight those new people), and he's happy to lend a helping hand when needed. Sometimes his friendliness can cross a line, like when he greets people with a full-on kiss on the mouth or doesn't bother turning around when someone's changing clothes. Still, Star's intentions are good ones, and his approach to the world is very much one of curiosity and respect.
For Shatterstar, there's still so much he hasn't discovered yet, new emotions and movies and people and places, and he wants to explore them all. He has his freedom, a keenness to take full advantage of it, and a desire to learn even more about how the world works. It's a long way off from how he started, but Star'd like to think that's for the better.
Superhuman Enhancements: Because of the extensive genetic engineering, Shatterstar has incredible superhuman skills, including increased stamina and endurance, acute senses, extreme flexibility and agility, and exceptional coordination and balance. He's much faster than a normal human and has equally fast reflexes. Star also has superhuman strength, capable of lifting several tons. He's noted that his bones are hollow, which allows for his increased agility and makes him capable of dodging even bullets from automatic weapons.
Healing: On top of his physical abilities, Shatterstar also has an accelerated healing factor and can quickly heal minor injuries so he can continue on in battle. More severe injuries cannot be healed as rapidly, though they do heal more quickly than a normal human's wounds.
Enhanced Intelligence: He is also an incredibly quick learner, able to master things like new languages, weapons, and technology faster than a normal person as well. He's had extensive training in various martial arts and military strategy thanks to his time on Mojoworld, and his specialty is sword fighting.
Weapon: Shatterstar uses dual blades seen here, which extend/retract from wrist gauntlets hidden beneath his coat. These swords are seemingly unbreakable and can slice through a number of durable materials, though it's unknown if they are the same swords he used in earlier portrayals (see: Dual Mystical Blades on the Comic Vine wiki).
Mutation: Star can create vibratory shock waves/some kind of bioelectricity by converting sonic frequencies around him and channeling the power through his swords. (But he's also used other metal weapons like his daggers or shuriken.) However, doing this uses up a lot of his energy and exhausts him to the point that he rarely uses this ability, preferring to rely on his physical ability to fight.
Teleportation: Shatterstar can also create portals capable of transporting large groups of people across space. This requires the use of his blades to channel the energy, and someone dubbed an "anchor" to think of the place they're trying to teleport to. The anchor must be someone Shatterstar has a close connection with (examples shown in the comics are Rictor and two other X-Factor members). If Shatterstar is not 100% focused the portal is at risk of collapsing and can kill the people crossing through, and the energy generated by the portal is enough to destroy a building if opened inside one. After teleporting Star needs about four hours to rest before he can teleport again.
Character Name: Perseus “Percy” Jackson Canon: Heroes of Olympus Canon Point: Mid-House of Hades, after battling the aria Background/History:Half-Blood Wiki Previous Game History: --- Personality:
❝Am I a troubled kid? Yeah. You could say that.❞ -Book 1, the Lightning Thief
Being a teenager isn't easy but neither is being a teenaged half-blood, that is, a child of a god.
In Percy's own words, being a half-blood is dangerous and most of the time, it gets you killed in terrible ways. If he had to choose between being a normal kid and a half-blood… well, let's just say, he didn't have a choice.
It's easy to call Percy a troublemaker; he looks like one. He can't help it that he's inherited his father's brooding looks and that monsters and deities can smell him from miles away and want him dead. He's been accused of delinquency all his life but really, it isn't his fault. He never meant to make the school bus explode or kill his pre-algebra teacher but to be fair, the latter was a fury that tried to kill him first.
Percy doesn't fit in like normal kids. Even if mortals can't tell what he is, it seems that most people can tell that he isn't like the others. He has ADHD and he's dyslexic, his grades are awful, and when his teachers are monsters that pick on him all of the time, it's easy for other students to single him out. As a result, he's been picked on before which does't help when you consider Percy has a short temper when it comes to bullies and he isn't afraid to get into fights.
Because he doesn't fit in, Percy gravitates towards other outcasts. For example, his first (and best) friend was Grover, a boy who looked too old to be in the sixth grade, had a limp, and a funny laugh that made him an easy target for bullies. He also befriends a large, clumsy, and homeless boy named Tyson. Even if making friends with them made it easier for bullies to pick on Percy too, he didn't care, and if anyone gave them trouble, he was quick to stand up for and even fight for them. More than being labeled a loser by society and getting suspended from another school, Percy hates bullies.
Still, Percy tries to be normal. He tries to not get in trouble and keep his head down. He isn't exactly proud of the fact that he's been kicked out of a different school every year and that some times his teachers try to kill him. You see, Percy is actually a good kid but trouble just keeps coming for him. That said though, trouble is just another day in the life of Percy Jackson and once he's in it, he tends to dig himself into it deeper thanks to his rather short temper and sarcastic sense of humor which makes him come off as disrespectful in situations where you really should want to show some respect. He doesn't really think before he acts which is why he relies on his friends to rein him in before he gets himself turned into a dolphin by an offended wine god.
❝"Your fatal flaw is personal loyalty, Percy."❞ -Book 3, The Titan's Curse
Percy values his relationships very much. In fact, he values them so much, it's his Fatal Flaw which is basically a type of weakness that every demigod has and will bring about his downfall if he isn't careful. However, Percy's fatal flaw is also one of his greatest strengths (which makes it all the more dangerous).
Percy won't stop for anything when it comes to his friends and family. Maybe it's because he never had many friends growing up that is why he feels so protective of his friends. For his mother, Sally Jackson, he attacks a minotaur, goes on a dangerous quest across the country, ventures into the underworld, and considers turning his abusive stepfather into stone for her. More than anything in the world, he wants his mother to be safe and happy and he'll do almost anything to make it happen. Almost because as much as he wants to act on impulse, his mother taught him that he can't fix everything and has to let others work for themselves… Knowing that he has to step aside and let others fight their own battles doesn't make it any easier for him to accept though.
He's repeated this behavior to rescue his friends, Grover and Annabeth who were each in danger at different points in time. His bond with Grover is so close, he shares an empathy link with him. An empathy link is a psychic connection between a satyr and another person. It allows Percy and Grover to communicate from great distances, often through dreams but some times when awake. They are able to read each other's emotions, sense where they are, and feel when they are in danger. Grover established one with Percy when he was kidnapped in the Sea of Monsters and offered to remove it when he was rescued. Percy declines despite knowing if one of them were to die, the other would most likely die as well.
Annabeth, a daughter of Athena, becomes one of his best demigod friends and eventual girlfriend. Like his mother and Grover, Percy goes on a quest to rescue her and the goddess, Artemis, who was also missing. However, when confronted by Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love, Percy admits he was really going on the quest to save Annabeth. He cares for her greatly which puts him in a rather difficult position when you consider his enemy, Luke, was most likely Annabeth's first love and she still had some feelings for him. from the beginning, Percy thought Annabeth was attractive, but as he grows closer to her, he begins to think of her as beautiful and cute. He thinks about her constantly while on quests-- how to keep her safe, how he can see her again, how to not make her worry, how to make her happy, etc. Percy even expresses jealousy over her feelings towards Luke, some times becoming frustrated with her because he doesn't know how to handle his new feelings (he is, after all, a teenager). The two start dating at the end of the first series, after Percy turns down an offer to become an immortal god because he doesn't want to leave Annabeth.
On multiple occasions, Percy continues to show mercy and tries to save his enemies, even against his better judgment. For example, he constantly tries to reason with Luke who tries to kill him and eventually becomes possessed by Kronos. Percy also rescues Ethan Nakamura, knowing there was a very high chance he would be betrayed by him (which he was). In Last Olympian, Percy warns the enemy crew he is going to sink their ship and he grieves when the ship sinks, killing many enemy demigods and one of his friends.
Still, the worst part of Percy's fatal flaw isn't his compassion for his enemies, as dangerous as that is. The real danger ultimately comes down to how far he would go for his friends. Athena, goddess of wisdom, warned he might destroy the world to save his friends.
❝He's actually pretty intelligent but he acts so dumb some times. I wonder if he does it just to annoy me. The guy has a lot going for him. He's courageous. He's got a sense of humor…❞ -Annabeth, Demigod Files
While his grades at school certainly wouldn't show it, Percy is smart in his own ways. In normal, mortal situations, he comes off as a troublemaker thanks to his ADHD. He's presumably a C student academically and his grades can drop down to an F when he has other things on his mind. But with demigods, ADHD, along with dyslexia, means something else. ADHD for demigods means Percy is actually hyperaware of his surroundings which is supposed to keep him alive in battles and difficult situations.
However, Percy still comes off a little foolish in mythical situations. Part of this has to do with the fact that he's often being compared to Annabeth who, as a daughter of Athena, is very wise and intelligent. Though familiar with Greek mythology, he doesn't know nearly as much as Annabeth. This leads to him not knowing how to handle certain enemies are and combined with his rather sarcastic sense of humor, he can come off as a fool. Toss in a bit of ADHD/hyperawareness and some times he can miss obvious things like people's feelings or the fact that the creepy old lady with the stone garden named "Auntie Em" is Medusa in disguise.
Still, he is intelligent and knows how to handle himself. He regularly figures out how to defeat seemingly unbeatable enemies and to outsmart the ones he can't beat on his own. When he makes dumb decisions, like trying to save his enemies, he does them fully aware of how foolish his actions can be. Some of his actions, however, are genuinely rather silly.
Combine his intelligence and his good personality with his bravery, Percy comes off as a very charismatic leader over time. He's always possessed the qualities of a leader, seen in how he protects his friends and makes decisions on his first quest. However, with some polishing and experience, Percy can easily become a great leader.
Percy doesn't always have to be the leader though, it takes him some time to get used to this. As he grows and matures, he eventually learns to follow others when it is their time and support them, just like his mother taught him.
❝Grover looked at Thalia desperately. I tried to not feel upset by that. Used to be, Grover looked to me for answers, but Thalia had seniority.❞ -Book 3, the Titan's Curse
Percy is rather stubborn and proud. He believes that he can and needs to fix problems. While his relationship with his mother is one obvious example, another is Percy's desire to go on almost every quest to save his friends and save Camp Half-Blood, his "most favorite place in the world." Part of this problem comes from the fact that he's the son of Poseidon, one of the "Big Three" Olympians. From the moment Percy learned he was the son of Poseidon, he was hyped up to be a hero at the center of a fantastic prophecy. For a long time, he things that the world literally depends on him. This changes drastically when he meets Thalia, a daughter of Zeus, the biggest of the Big Three. Thalia is heralded much in the same was as Percy except for the fact that Thalia kind of sacrificed her life to become a magical tree that protected Camp Half-Blood for years before Percy ever showed up. When Thalia arrives, she's greatly respected and Percy takes it rather personally because he used to be regarded in the same way.
❝"Percy, it's not your fault you have a monster for a brother." "He's not my brother!" I snapped, "And he's not a monster either!"❞ -Book 2, the Sea of Monsters
Tying into his loyalty to his friends and his personal pride, there is some conflict here simply because, at the end of the day, he is a teenaged boy with more than enough to deal with. When Percy finds out that his friend, Tyson, is actually a cyclopes and his half-brother, Percy becomes incredibly embarrassed and frustrated and begins to deny Tyson is his brother. His problem isn't that Tyson is a monster (though, that is a little embarrassing) but the problem is Tyson is his brother.
Part of Percy's emotions comes from the fact that Percy already had a complicated relationship with his father. Percy's interaction with his father was rather limited and suddenly his father announced he had a brother who was a cyclopes. Percy eventually learns his lesson though when he believes Tyson is dead. He immediately regrets ever denying Tyson was his brother and becomes angry with himself. When Tyson returns, well and alive, Percy accepts Tyson completely and becomes a proud brother. However, some of his frustrations resurface when Tyson is summoned to Poseidon's palace, a place Percy had never been to. This hints that the problem was never really Tyson but had always, really, been his complicated and some times awkward relationship with his father. Despite everything though, Percy learns to understand and love his father, expressing loyalty and trust to him the same way he would for his mother.
❝Percy was almost the same age now as Luke had been. He could understand how Luke became so spiteful. In the past five years, Percy had been a pawn too many times. The Olympians seemed to take turns using him in his schemes.❞ -Heroes of Olympus, Mark of Athena
In the second series, Heroes of Olympus, Percy loses some of his naivety thanks to a tryst with amnesia and being jerked around by the gods on a few too many quests. He's always known that gods were jerks but he he learns exactly how much the gods have ruined people's lives via their involvement (or lack of). It gets to the point where he begins to empathize with Luke Castellan, a demigod that betrayed the gods in the first series. Furthermore, his time as an amnesiac with out any memories of friends or family has made him more confident and independent in a more jaded way. He comes out of it with a "wolf glare" that dares anyone to challenge him because he's been through worse. He also has sharpened senses which lets him hone into his demigod instincts better.
Percy ends up in Camp Jupiter and he sees a life he never thought was possible for a demigod. When he sees people going to college, having a life, and raising families, it makes him want to do the same thing. Sure, he's a strong demigod and he's taken on every monster thrown at him but he's always felt like, some day, he would meet one he couldn't defeat and he would die young. He'd become rather resigned to that fate until he found Camp Jupiter. When he gets his memories back, he still likes Camp Jupiter and wants Annabeth to have a life with him there. For Percy, Camp Jupiter becomes a second important place for him after Camp Half-Blood and it gives him hope for a future he never really thought he had.
❝”Percy wasn't a kid anymore. He didn't want anybody he loved taking a risk for him. He had to be strong enough to be the protector himself. ❞ -Heroes of Olympus, Mark of Athena
When he travels to Greece with the other demigods, Percy reveals he's developed a fear of drowning due to almost suffocating in Alaska. He begins to question if it's really just being unable to breathe that bothers him and starts to wonder if the fear also stems from him drowning in all of the responsibilities he's taking on for himself. It doesn’t help that as his enemies get stronger, he struggles more and more despite being one of the strongest demigods of all time. This bothers him because he wants to be strong enough to protect his friends so they don’t have to get hurt. He wants to lead his friends away from harm and keep them safe. Unfortunately, he has to learn with dealing with the fact that he can’t always be the leader and that some times, he does have to let his friends walk into danger in which case, he can only have their backs.
❝He couldn’t blame anyone for his troubles. Not the gods. Not Bob. Not even Calypso, the girl he’d left alone on that island.❞ -Heroes of Olympus, House of Hades
Ironically, despite how intensely loyal he is to his friends, Percy is actually… a pretty awful friend. He has a pretty nasty habit of forgetting people and not checking on them, even if they’ve saved his life. Upon realizing this about himself, he wonders if he is a good or if he ever was. Regardless, he decides to become a good hero and to make things right!
… But being in Tartarus takes it’s toll on a hero’s spirit.
❝"Percy!" Annabeth called. She'd retreated to the edge of the cliff, even though the poison wasn't after her. She sounded terrified. It took Percy a moment to relize she was terrified of him.❞ -Heroes of Olympus, House of Hades
After falling into Tartarus with Annabeth, he begins to show off a much darker and less flattering side to his personality. He blatantly manipulates Bob, a titan that lost his memory in a battle against Percy a year and a half before. Percy had lied to Bob then and said they were friends to keep him and his friends alive. Right after, Percy forgot all about Bob. Nico visited Bob and told him that Percy was a good friend and Bob tells him this. It makes Percy feel bad because he'd forgotten all about his friend and instead of acting like a good friend to Bob, he manipulates and continues to lie to Bob who is slowly regaining his memories in Tartarus. Percy is so aggressively manipulative and angry, it even frightens Annabeth when he attempts to violently kill a goddess. He knows what he's doing is wrong but he's doing it to keep Annabeth alive. Abilities/Powers:
hyperawareness, Percy is extremely aware of his surroundings, able to see everything even down to small details like how an opponent's muscles tense up to determine how they are going to attack. Even though he can process everything, it can some times take him a try or two to come up with a successful reaction. This ability is most obvious in battle. While it can also come in use outside of battle, for the most part, he comes off as unfocused and impulsive, resulting in mortals diagnosing him with ADHD. auto translate Ancient Greek, Percy's brain is "hardwired" to Ancient Greek which he can translate naturally. He struggles reading English where the words tend to move around and become illegible. As a result, mortals have diagnosed him with dyslexia. natural combat skill, combined with his hyperawareness, Percy has natural combative skills. He can read his opponents and hold his own in battle. His weapon of choice is a sword but he will also use a shield when necessary. He fights well solo and can easily learn to fight with others. semi-prophetic dreams, when demigods dream, they are rarely just dreams. Percy can dream about events in the past, events happening elsewhere at the same time, and even possible events for the future. In some dreams, he is merely an observer, in others, he takes on the form of another character within a dream. While dreams often have meaning, Percy often doesn't understand what they mean at first. In dreams where he is merely an observer, his presence can some times be sensed and chased away which will result in him waking up. hydrokinesis, as the son of Poseidon, Percy can manipulate water. He can create great waves, walls of water, and other shapes. He can manipulate the water in ice and snow. Percy is also able to create salt water from petrified seashells and even thin hair. Creating water takes a lot of concentration and energy; the more water he creates, the greater the strain on his body until he, begins to feel pain, exhaustion, and lose control. He can also walk on water or make water solid for others to travel on, however, this exhausts him. zoolingualism, Percy can communicate with all sea creatures, mortal and mythological. He can also communicate with horses since Poseidon created horses. These creatures regard Percy with great respect, often calling him "Lord." They are also naturally attracted and aware of who he is, often coming to him for help or coming to his aid. water resistance, even if he has been underwater, Percy will always come out dry unless he wills it otherwise. He is also immune to water pressure, able to swim down to great depths without any problem. Likewise, even if he were to fall from a great height and into water, he wouldn't be harmed because the water would just cushion and protect him. Drowning and and the idea water could hurt him is basically a foreign concept. healing, when Percy comes in contact with water, his wounds will heal. Time varies depending on the severity of the wound. This also applies to poison. swimming, naturally, Percy is a strong swimmer. He can also breathe under water. He can separate the oxygen from water to create air bubbles for companions to breathe into. sailing, he has a natural understanding of ships and can control even large ships with his mind. He will also always know where he is when he's at sea so he can never get lost. limited powers, Percy can generate storms. He can summon wind and even generate lightning but it will take up a lot of energy and it isn't something that he can keep up for too long without becoming exhausted. He can also resist high heat but the greater the temperature, the more pain he feels. He was able to withstand the heat within Mt Saint Helens but he began to feel pain, was pushed to his limit, and emerged badly burned but still alive. Presumably, as a son of Poseidon, he also has some control over earthquakes and setting off volcanic eruptions and while there is some speculation that he's done it before, it isn't confirmed if those instances were coincidence or actual powers at work.
Items/Weapons:
Anaklusmos (Greek) or Riptide (English). Riptide normally takes on the form of a capped pen. When uncapped, it becomes a sword made of Celestial Bronze. Celestial Bronze is able to cut through gods, demigods, titans, and monsters. However, it will harmlessly pass through mortals due to the inability to hurt humans. Riptide will always return to Percy's pocket unless it is purposely left behind. It glows lightly.
Sample Entry:Previous thread! Sample Entry Two: If they could write, Percy might have seriously considered petitioning Haven to take down the billboard.
”IN HAVEN, WE ARE ALL SAFE… TOGETHER”
Really? Really. Yeah, Haven was about as safe as it was back home. Scratch that. Home was probably safer and that was saying a lot. Also, that ellipses? Talk about ominous. If he didn’t know any better to begin with, that would have been his second warning that something was seriously up with this place (the first being basically waking up on the set of the “Walking Dead” deal).
Waking up in Haven again was vaguely familiar. It was like going back to camp before his sixteenth birthday: There were a lot of familiar faces and a handful of new ones but a lot of missing people too. There was also that whole feeling of needing to prepare for danger if that’s what you want to call it. It didn’t help that he’d woken up in Haven again before but last time, it was like he’d gone to sleep for a long time and woke up with new memories.
This time? One second he was in Haven, the next he was back in Tatarus being carried on the back of someone and then he was back in Haven! The least Haven could have done was wait until he and Annabeth managed to escape from Tartarus. Of course, the more time he spent here in Haven, he kind of wondered if Haven and Tartarus might be related some how…
… Yeah, he wouldn’t be surprised. But he probably shouldn’t be thinking about that now with certain mind readers lurking about. it was probably one of the last things he needed right now. So let’s focus on the first things he needs to do. Check himself and his belongings? Check. See who’s still in Haven? Check. Send them a message? … Yeah, he’ll shoot a quick voice message right now while thinking about Poseidon before heading out.

Character Name: Jak (Mar) Canon: Jak Series Canon Point: From just after Sig's death in Jak II. Background/History:Jak's Wiki page Personality: Up until his arrival in Haven City, Jak was a pretty happy kid. He did stupid things with his best friend Daxter, up to and including getting his friend turned into an ottsel while they snuck off to areas they weren't supposed to be at. He could look at his friend's predicament with a sort of humor, even if he was the most taciturn person ever, and I mean ever. It's not until Jak gets to Haven City that he says a word, and his first words are "I'm gonna kill Praxis!"
So, yeah, there's a downturn in his happy-go-lucky attitude from the first game. After being tortured as part of a 'human experiment' by Baron Praxis, Jak has little to no love for the authority in Haven City. He comes out of it bitter, angry, and with a new power in the form of 'Dark Jak.' Dark Jak in and of itself scares Jak, and is a reminder of what he went through.
But Jak is ever resourceful and isn't going to waste an opportunity just because he doesn't like it. It's for this reason that Jak starts doing Krew's, a crime underlord, bidding. He uses the connection to earn weapons and to chase down leads on how to get back at Baron Praxis. It's the same reason he races in the Haven City race tournament, and what motivates his every action. He really, really meant it when he said that he wanted to kill Baron Praxis.
While it looks like his morals have deteriorated, Jak shows appropriate horror at some of the things Krew asks him to do, most notably destroying priceless heirlooms. He also works hard a protecting people when asked to do so (notably some assholes in a sewer that you will probably RAGE QUIT at at least once. it's been known to happen). In the end, he wants to protect the city more than get even with Baron Praxis, because while revenge is nice, Jak is at his core a good person who wants to help. Unfortunately, his anger makes him easy to manipulate, as seen by every mission Korr, the ultimate bad guy, sends him on.
It just so happens that revenge and helping align more often than not-- if he were in a different situation and they didn't align, he would likely change course, even if it was at the last minute.
And despite his anger and his struggles with being tortured for two years, Jak manages to maintain his humor, though it is darker. He also likes trying new things-- he took to the hoverboard with glee, and enjoys shooting. He's a capable racer, and enjoys the challenges that presents. He and his best friend Daxter get into a lot of trouble over both of their goofing off.
Jak relies on his friends to help him when his moral compass fails. Keira, his love interest, gives him a hard time about his ties to Krew. Daxter, his best friend and constant companion, is always there with a quick sarcastic remark to help pull him back from the edge. And if not for Daxter, Jak would be dead by the time the end of the game rolls around. Abilities/Powers: Jak is a capable marksman-- he has one weapon, the morph gun, which has four modifications.
Scatter shot - It fires short range, wide area burst shots. it's not his fastest weapon, but it's great for creating space between him and his enemies. Burst mod - This gives Jak a longer ranged, more precise weapon. He can shoot a SINGLE TARGET, as opposed to a wide area of targets, which comes in handy. Vulcan Barrel - Like the burst shot, except this fires rapidly. Jak can easily spend 50 rounds of this weapon in about 3 seconds. That's the speed of the vulcan barrel. Peacemaker - This modification fires burst shots into the distance, and uses electroshocks to neutralize anything within about a 10 foot radius. It's extremely powerful, and the most difficult to find weapons for.
Jak also has a 'dark eco' mode, due to the experimentations that Baron Praxis performed on him. While he is in dark eco mode, his speed, power, and range of his attacks increase. He is invincible, and he can use powerful area attacks both in the air, and on the ground. Jak dislikes dark eco mode personally, but he makes use of its powers in order to survive. He has to absorb enough dark eco to make it work, which will be the problem in Haven.
Jak is also a capable driver/racer, both with your regular vehicles, but also with his hoverboard. Items/Weapons: His morph gun (and by extension, all the morphs), his hoverboard, and not much else. Sample Entry: Dax? If you're out there, let me know.
[the feed cuts-- and then cuts back on, this time with an entirely separate message] I heard that we're the guests of the esteemed 'Kite.' [the smile on his face says that he means none of it. The dangerous glint was just barely there-- and he didn't really care how stupid this seemed.]
I'd like to meet this guy, and I heard that they listen to these phones. So consider this a message for him. As much as I'd love to stay here and be part of your weird torture fetish, I've got another Haven City that needs my help.
So let's settle this man to man. Or man to machine, since you're not the first coward I've met. [he stares into the video, the smile gets slightly more dangerous, like he's barely containing his anger at being trapped.]
My name is Jak. And you know where to find me Doctor.
Sample Entry Two: His head hurt. Like, really hurt. He felt like he'd hit his head something hard, falling somewhere, but he couldn't really remember where he'd fallen. After all, the last thing he remembered was a giant metalhead bursting through the walls. ... And swallowing Sig. Oh hell. He immediately sat up, reaching for his gun, his eyes narrowed suspiciously as he looked around the room for any sort of hint as to where he was.
And he waited for the smell of sawdust to pass. Given the last place he'd been, he didn't think anything of it. He just wanted answers as to what part of the city he was in, and nothing immediately came to mind. He gritted his teeth and stood up-- no bones broken, his head felt a little woozy, but that passed soon enough. Overall, he felt like he was in good health. Which made everything about this really weird.
"Dax?"
He looked around for his friend, the only familiar face he would've expected to see anywhere. When he got no response, not even a sarcastic one, he called a little louder. "Dax, where are you?" His hand went to pull his gun out of its case, and he gripped it tightly.
This was an even worse day than usual, if he didn't have his best friend around. And he was bound and determined to get some answers. His finger curled around the trigger. God help the first person who surprised him.
Name: Shiemi Moriyama Contact Info:hentai Other Characters Played: Asuka Langley Soryu Requested apartment: If both characters are accepted, Shiemi would like to share a room with Rin Okumura!
Character Name: Shiemi Moriyama Canon: Ao No Exorcist/Blue Exorcist Canon Point: Chapter 50 Background/History:Here!
One would think it'd be bizarre to compare a character to an undesirable plant such as a weed. With their bad reputation, weeds are considered useless and unwanted in a garden. But despite of their un-charming nature, weeds have the ability to overcome difficulties and spout out for the world to see. This is something that Shiemi thrives for and she wishes nothing more spout and grow for the sake of her friends and for herself. However, in order to do so, she'll have to over own difficulties which is overcoming her self-doubt.
Her self-doubt could be easily blamed on her very sheltered life as a child. For most of her childhood, Shiemi was known for her shy and timid behavior because of her lack of contact with the outside world. During her first meeting with Yukio, she shyly hid herself away instead of introducing herself. Her social disorder was due to her illness (which hasn't been explained), which prevented her from attending school and making friends her own age.
However, she never once considered herself lonely because the majority of her time was spent helping her grandmother tend to her garden. Because of this, Shiemi grew an appreciation for all kinds of plants and formed a strong bond with her grandmother. With her mother busy attending to a family-owned Exorcist supplied shop, Shiemi grew attached to her grandmother and considered her more like a mother-figure than her own mother. During their time together, she was taught a great deal about plants and how to make remedies from them. She adored plants, just as much as she adored being around her grandmother. Their time in the garden together was special to Shiemi.
Her Grandmother often told Shiemi stories of an extraordinary garden known as The Garden of Amahara. It was place where God, himself gathered up all the world’s plants together in one place for all to see. Hearing about the legendary garden encouraged Shiemi and she decided that one day, she'll visit it. The tale of The Garden of Amahara inspired her and gave her the courage to see the outside world for herself.
Unfortunately, after wandering off on her own to find Amahara, her grandmother died from a freak accident while Shiemi wasn’t around to help with the chores her grandmother was attending too. This lead to Shiemi blaming herself for her grandmother's death and withdrawing herself from the world once more. She took it upon herself to keep up with her late-grandmother's garden.
Upon meeting Rin, she instantly considers him "nice" and decided to open herself up to him despite of her timidness. With her sudden change of nature, this could easily be noted as one of the first times she attempted to break out from her shell to fond a bond with another.
As a result of being sheltered, Shiemi often comes off as someone who is naïve and gullible. She is unfamiliar with how the world works. Her naïve behavior allowed a demon to trick her into forming a deal with it after realizing that her skills and resources alone weren’t enough to keep her grandmother’s garden alive. The demon offered its protection and keep the garden alive as long as Shiemi allows it to feed off her like a parasite, in which she agrees to.
As the demon fed from her, she grew weaker, but she was still determined to keep up with her duties. After an exorcism performed by both brothers to chase away the demon, Shiemi decided on her own to finally leave her house, follow Rin and attend True Cross Academy to become an exorcist herself, so she could become stronger and get a better understanding of the world around her.
Once enrolled in school, Shiemi’s character finally starts to mold and its’ revealed that she’s actually cheerful, optimistic and extremely kind. As she starts to converse with the others, she slowly starts to come out of her shell and gains a few friends in the process. However, there are still times where she’ll doubt her abilities to do, well, anything. She pushes herself, which eventually leads to disconnecting herself from both Rin and Yukio, more specifically when she overhears Rin claiming “they weren’t friends” after Bon and Co. teases him about Shiemi. Eventually, she tries to befriend her fellow classmate, Izumo Kamiki and her friend Paku, which is a success, to some degree.
As their “friendship” blooms, it became clear that Izumo was mistreating her and taking advantage of her kindness, which Shiemi doesn’t seem to mind because her lack of understanding how a real friendship worked. Whether or not Shiemi was aware of Izumo’s mistreatment, she was still determined to work hard to please her new friends. Even after Rin addresses the issue to her, she merely replies that he wouldn’t understand because he already had a group of friends.
That same day, Izumo and Paku are both attacked by a demon and instead of running for help ( like Rin suggested her to do ), Shiemi decides to stay and help, which she ends up saving Paku’s life with the help of her new Tamer powers. After this event, Shiemi decided to better herself as someone who can help others in need. She’s also finding happiness with even the simplest of chores such as cooking, gardening and house chores — Basically anything that’ll benefit the people who are close to her.
Returning back to her battle with her self-doubt, she is constantly questioning both her actions and abilities. She’s fully aware of her powers and is always eager to expand them to further herself so she can be considered anything but useless. One of Shiemi’s biggest fears is the fear of feeling worthless to her friends. When Rin’s heritage is revealed, Shiemi finds herself unable to face him, but not because she was afraid of him. She felt ashamed of herself and was slowly revealing that she knew little to nothing about both Rin and Yukio.
But as quickly she does fall, she is always quick to pick herself back up. When Shiemi was at a complete loss, she ends up breaking down in front of Izumo and reveals all her frustration and feelings building up inside her. However, when Izumo responds by calling her shameless, like a weed ( due to her ability to admit all these negative traits about her, without showing any signs of embarrassment. ), Shiemi twists the girl's words and turns her negative comment into a positive one, therefore embracing them and her spirit as a weed.
To Shiemi, the definition of becoming a weed is to grow stronger and to fight against all odds. The plant's sole purpose is to grow and to stand out which is something she longs to do. Shiemi’s biggest goal is self improvement and in order for her to achieve that, she has to grow like a weed.
Tamer is one of the five meister types an Exorcist can excel in. Tamers use demons, known as familiar, to fight for them. As a tamer, Shiemi is able to summon an infant Greenman spirit, which she calls “Nii-chan”. With the help of her Greenman, she can perform multiple abilities. She can have him create an aloe branch that can produce juices can heal wounds. She can also create barriers made from wood, tree woods and flowers to protect her or her friends.
Herbalism
Shiemi also is talented in the field of using medicinal herbs to heal wounds. She is able to recognize different types of illnesses and uses her greenman to summon specific plants that can heal wounds such as burns and stab wounds.
Filling the bucket with with well water? Seems easy enough! If all the tasks were as easy as fetching water, then Shiemi couldn't see herself having a hard time here. If anything, she thought she had it easy. There were plenty of familiar faces, food to eat, and as far as she was aware, she was still in one piece.
She learned a great deal of Haven by merely eavesdropping and of course, some of the things the other had to say seemed, well, pretty unbelievable! But Shiemi wasn't the type to turn something down just because she didn't see with her own eyes. Plus, stuff like monsters and demons weren't unheard back in her home world.
As mentioned, she was grateful that she was lucky enough to have the company she had with her. She was aware that someone wasn't as fortunate as she was and they were here, alone, by themselves. It was something that Shiemi could admire because she couldn't even behind to fathom what she'll do if she was in their shoes!
She knew one thing, she was here for a reason. Sure, she was saddened by the whole "kidnapping" thing, but now she was here, she figured she'll make the best of it. So if people needed help or a new friend, she'll be there!
But first, she had to figure out how to water well thing worked!?
Character Name: Ellie Canon: The Last Of Us Canon Point: End game. Background/History: A link to a source about the canon is fine for this. Personality: Ellie is the product of a broken world. Born somewhere around 2018, Ellie came into the world 6 years after the spread of an extreme infection that stole the entire world and left it in shambles. Her parents died at an early age for her, leaving her the child of every camp and quarantine zone run by a corrupt post-apocalyptic government. She was always a problem child, being transferred from military school to military school after beating up other students, stealing, escaping, and just acting out in general. She's defensive, feisty, and not afraid to pick a fight where she sees fit. But there's also a soft side to her-- Ellie is just a teenager, having barely experienced puberty and growing up.
She made friends with another student around her age, if only a bit older, named Riley, who had generally the same temperament as her. It's because of Riley that she's able to find fun in the darkness of their world. Ellie loves to joke around, her interest in terrible puns and dreams of playing actual video games making her the normal kid that she really is deep down. Her sarcasm and sense of humor are still the likes of a budding teenager, given how much of a smart-ass and rebel that she can be at least 99% of the time. Even throughout her adventure across the country with Joel, she still has a fire about her that never goes out. She's the only person holding the key to the cure, which is a heavy weight to carry on her shoulders. And although all seems lost throughout her adventures, her life and her integrity remain the only part that means something to her. She's a fighter, first and foremost, and a child later. Even in her young age, she's smart and quick-witted, fully educated on how to defend herself and those around her. But that doesn't mean she necessarily holds trust. Ellie has had trust issues her whole life, casting out those she doesn't see fit or rightful in her personal space.
Anyone and everyone, to her unfortunate opinion, is an enemy first. It's how she was raised, but that doesn't mean she won't give them a chance. Ellie wants so much to have friends and family, but the closest she's gotten to that at all have either lied to her, died, or turned into infected. The only ones who have honestly tried for her are a part of a government rebellion group, or those who have gotten in the way of her own views of justice-- Namely, Joel. And although she believes her own sense of justice and righteousness has been stepped on and destroyed, that surprisingly hasn't taken the kid out of Ellie. She's a fun-loving, humorous, and curious individual. When her walls are down, all she wants is to try and find her own smile among the disarray and destruction that is the world she has grown up in. So don't be afraid to try and get close to her, she might just let you in.
Additional Revision:
Of course there is a mention of Ellie's lack of trust in my previous entry, which is a given for basically everyone and anyone in this universe. All she knows is either you are a citizen or a soldier at first, and neither were savory unless you were a specific number of people.
When Ellie had first met Joel, of course there was an extreme lack of trust, and her desire to listen to anyone was already nonexistent. It was with the trust and dependency on Marlene that Ellie had tagged along with Joel with no argument. It was strictly business and the only means of her getting to the Fireflies and find the cure. Ellie found it her responsibility, and something that she had to roll along with for the good of mankind.
Throughout the journey, it's having to deal with an adult telling her what to do and undermining her talents and ability to fight. She's tense around him at first, and you see it in the way she holds her arm and stands away from him in gameplay, only engaging at small times. But Ellie tries to keep positive vibes in her life, maintaining jokes and striking conversation with Joel regardless of his lack of response.
When they lose Tess, she's left absolutely alone with Joel, no choice but to stick beside him and try to get along with him. And she tries, tries to engage him and tries so hard to at least tolerate him. Ellie realizes quickly that he's her only lifeline, and even if he doesn't seem to appreciate her all that much most of the time, Ellie quickly starts to depend on him. She begins to trust him when he quickly jumps in front of her in the face of danger, regardless of her pride making her slightly irritable.
Ellie's dependency on Joel derives from the quiet agreements and even little laughs here and there, when he jumps in front of her in the face of danger, and when he finally bites the bullet and gives her a gun. He extends trust to her, puts his own life at risk while she defends him on the sidelines, and that's when Ellie starts to get close.
And then he tries to give her up to Tommy...
Ellie was heartbroken, and she felt like her even attempting to trust Joel was a mistake on her part. There was an anxiety that came with being separated from someone she had gotten even semi-close to, to having to be with a total stranger again, which is what drives her to run off. It starts to become clear that even if Ellie had trust issues with Joel before, the idea of being without him made her extremely uncomfortable. They did nothing but look out for each other, and how was she supposed to know that Tommy would do the same? But fights and arguments are had, once again he protects her from hunters and runners, and surprisingly decides to keep her.
She's hardly out of touch with her own feelings. Ellie doesn't keep things bottled up-- Something she learned when she lost Riley. There's no point in holding things back because you have no idea how quickly you might lose them. That comes into play when Joel gets impaled and left out of commission for a long time, leaving Ellie to tend to him and try to keep them safe. She ends up getting kidnapped and abused by cannibals, the whole time thinking of Joel and his safety. She risks her life to find supplies and medication to keep him on her side of reality, wanting nothing more than to keep him by her side. She needs him, and hardly keeps that to herself.
When Joel ends up rescuing her from her kidnapper, there's a tearful reunion and a moment where Ellie realizes just how dependent she's gotten on Joel. From hating him in the beginning, to tolerating him, and feeling attached when he risks his life yet again to find her.
Joel and Ellie have a complicated relationship that teeter-totters from partners in survival, friends, and a strange father-daughter type thing. Joel clearly remembers his daughter every time he looks at Ellie, and Ellie has caught that on multiple occasions. She respects him for being a father, even a bit envious of the life his daughter led before her death.
Basically, in terms of Ellie's personality? Ellie doesn't shut anyone out until they deserve it, and they mostly never do. Trust is something that everyone has to gain over time, and Joel sort of gained it quickly and lost it just as fast at the end of the game. But there's a complication because outside of the trust, she's pretty attached to him. There's disbelief in what Joel did at the Firefly quarantine zone, but a desire to believe him just as much.
She tries so hard to hold on to what she has, because she doesn't have much. Ellie is loyal, hard-working, and dedicated to those she gets close to. She tries to make Joel laugh and keep his spirits high because she cares.
Abilities/Powers: Ellie is a normal human being, but is significantly talented in self-defense, archery, guns, and first-aid for her age. Items/Weapons: Her switchblade, pistol, and letter from her mother.
Sample Entry: Revised third person:
"I'm an expert at this... ish."
It would be easy to say she went into this with at least a minimum amount of confidence, but her hands speak otherwise. Her gaze fixated between the blood on her hands and the suture needle between to fingers soon shifts to the older man teetering between consciousness and death. Ellie's hands tremble as she stares at the gaping wound that's soaked through a red shirt and duct-tape-- A hurried attempt at ceasing the bleeding. She remembered her training: clean and disinfect, apply pressure, begin stitching carefully. If it came to it? She'd have to cauterize the wound...
A heavy inhale, a shaky exhale.
"Okay, ready Joel?"
But it's when the needle punctures through flesh that she starts to feel sick. Sure, it was easy to suture tiny wounds at the military schools; most of the time, it was just a dead frog or pig skin. But no matter how clean and precise she got at it? It was like she was doing it for the first time when it came to fixing an actual person she relied on.
"Come on, you have to tell me what to do! Joel?"
It all plays in her mind like a horrible re-run, Joel falls off the horse, bleeds out on the concrete, and she's left with absolutely no idea what to do. Sure, she's had the training and the what-if scenarios to rely on, but she's just a kid. A kid who relied on this jerk of an old dude to drag her ass halfway across the country for some cause he didn't believe in.
She fucking hated him at first. Joel was keen to leave her behind with someone else that she barely knew in this shithole of a world, leave her like some cheap cargo, but...
The minute she saw even a bit of compassion in him, the way he looked at her when she knew he was thinking about his daughter? How could she not hold on to that feeling? Hell, if he wasn't going to leave her behind like the rest of them did? She had to give him another chance. So when he's teetering on the edge of death only dependent on her now? There's a bout of nerves there that she's never rightly experienced before. Now he's her responsibility, not the other way around.
But miraculously, she's able to still her hands to succeed in that first stitch. Ellie exhales with relief. She looks to Joel, a half-smile on her features while she gazes upon a practically lifeless face that shallowly breathes.
"See? I'm like a fucking natural at this. Clearly, I was kidding when I begged you to tell me what to do."
Somehow, she's able to push forward, being mindful of the bleeding and cleaning him off every so often. There's silence when she tries to concentrate, but it's deafening when all she can hear are his shaken breaths and soft grunts of pain.
"You know, we're gonna get nowhere if you keep scaring the shit out of me and I have to watch your ass this whole trip."
It's a bluff-- Sarcasm pouring through her lips when she knows damn-well that it's probably going to keep happening. Joel has made himself responsible for Ellie's life, and possibly for the lives of everyone else should this vaccine be the real deal. But there's this part of her that feels like they could stop...
Joel is hurt, unconscious and probably on his last limb here from the bitter cold and the loss of blood.
She softly laughs, and it's a cold one at that.
"Can't... Really help but feel like this is kinda my fault though," Ellie looks back at Joel, still talking in his direction even when her concentration goes back to her handiwork.
She pauses, like he's replying.
"I know. I know, it's like I said: I didn't ask to be immune. But come on, Joel, look at you. You look like shit and we're basically up the creek without a paddle."
And a sigh.
"No... No, I can't think like that. I know you're all about negativity and crap, but that's not gonna help us now."
Continuing to stitch, Ellie starts to feel slightly better when she's more than halfway done, and there's a smile there. It's imagining that Joel gets out of this alive that keeps her going, that faith that she can use what she's learned to better them, to prove that she's useful and knows her way around an apocalypse. It's been a while that she's wanted nothing more than to prove to Joel she isn't a liability for him, she can be a good partner, she could be like Tess.
And when she finishes, Ellie's hands drop to her lap with yet another sigh of relief.
"There. All fixed up. Told you I could do it."
Still, there's no response from Joel. Ellie scoffs as she gets up to grab an old blanket off a nearby washing machine.
"Can't keep going on like you gotta do all the dirty work, Joel. Look where it got us."
Throwing the blanket over him, she makes sure he's neatly tucked in from the cold. Sitting Indian-style next to him, she tries to settle herself for a long night of watching over him.
"You need me. No more of this me hiding behind you bullshit, if you can trust me with a gun, you should trust me to work next to you."
Eyes cast shadows to the ground, and she finally looks away from him. It's hard looking at a face that once had color look completely white as a sheet. Honest to god, she's terrified this won't work. This won't work and she'll end up dead with him in this dirty, run-down basement they've holed up in.
"I'm sure you can hear me... You'd better. Because I'm not doing this again, Joel. 'Cause..."
Character Name: Ozai Canon: Avatar: The Last Airbender Canon Point: Book 3, Final episode shortly before the fight with Aang Background/History:http://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/Ozai Personality: Ozai is a hard, emotionally distant though not emotionally void man. He sees the world very much in blacks and whites with little to no exceptions. You are either friend or foe, with him or against him. An asset or an obstacle. The reason for this attitude comes from how his own father, Azulon, treated him as a young man. Being the second son, Ozai has no claim to the throne and so Azulon sees Iroh as the more important of the two almost to the point of neglecting his second son entirely. Two things grow out of this neglect. First is Ozai’s feeling of being alone and being unable to fully open up and depend on anyone other than himself. Second, it ignites a desire for power to replace the lack of attention that his older brother takes for granted. Not only does Ozai become a master firebender like his older brother, but he also begins desiring to be made the heir. He views Iroh’s laid back and relaxed attitudes as a weakness that will end the Fire Nation’s bid for control of the Earth Kingdom, as well as the rest of the world. Only when Iroh loses his son, Lu Ten, and returns home with a broken spirit does Ozai openly speak of his desire, though it enrages his father that Ozai would seek to take his brother, his favored son’s, birthright. To teach him a lesson, Azulon orders that Ozai kill his first born so that he might understand his brother’s pain. Ozai's desire for power is greater than his emotional attachment to his family and he is planning to go through with the order to prove himself to his father. It is only through the intervention of his wife, Ursa, and an agreement that would land him the throne without killing his first born, that prevents him from doing so.
Ozai is a man who is willing to do what is necessary in order to come out on top. Not only is this shown in his willingness to kill Zuko to appease his father but also during the arrival of Sozen’s comet when he plans on laying waste to a wide swath of the Earth Kingdom as a way of breaking their spirit and their resistance. He is the kind of man who is unforgiving of incompetence or weakness. This is shown in the events leading to Zuko being scarred. First, it’s Zuko’s incompetence that offends Ozai in his war room. During the Agni Kai, Zuko has the chance to redeem himself in Ozai’s eyes. Unfortunately, Zuko thinks that begging forgiveness will appease his father. Ozai would have rather he’d fought and failed. This show of weakness makes Ozai view his son as a lost cause. After scarring him, he sends Zuko on a quest that he never expects him to return from.
There is another side to Ozai as well. While he certainly is ruthless in the face of failure, he is also generous when he is pleased. Ozai is no fool and he knows he cannot expect to micro-manage his kingdom alone. So he seeks out those who are best suited to certain tasks and places them in that role. In this way, Ozai is both an effective and charismatic leader. The best example of this is General Zhao. Even though unable to capture the Avatar, Zhao shows himself to be a shrewd and capable leader able to deliver results. Because of this, we see him rise through the ranks until he’s the commanding general of the attack on the Northern Water Tribe. Also, during the meeting with his war counsel during Book 3, Ozai shows that he is more than willing to defer to those with more experience in a matter. While discussing what to do to quell Earth Kingdom rebellions, he asks for Zuko’s opinion. Unlike anyone else in the room, Zuko has direct experience among the Earth Kingdom people. It’s a perspective he’s unable to get from his generals or even Azula. This is what draws in people and makes them want to follow Ozai. They know that, doing well and pleasing him will get them rewarded, even if they know failure won’t be tolerated.
Abilities/Powers: Ozai is a firebender which, in it’s most basic sense, is pyrokinesis. He can create flames from his chi and wield it as a weapon in a number of different ways. He can create flame blasts similar to a flamethrower as well as fireballs. He can also shape the flames into arcs and other forms. Other abilities that firebenders can use include being able to raise or lower the temperature of items they’re in contact with and their immediate area. He can also affect the strength of nearby open flames, causing them to putter out or flare up at will. Ozai is also capable of performing the most advanced form of firebending and creating lightning to attack his enemies, though he doesn’t know the technique for redirecting it. While there’s no way of knowing with absolute certainty, it’s strongly implied that Ozai is one of the most powerful firebenders in the world at that time. Among the characters shown, Iroh, Azula, and Aang in the Avatar state all have comparable power. However, only Iroh and Aang in the Avatar state are a match in experience. Items/Weapons: His robes and the royal hair pin of the Fire Lord.

Sample Entry:http://havenmemes.dreamwidth.org/26983.html?thread=13882471#cmt13882471 Sample Entry Two: Haven. The irony of the name certainly wasn’t lost on Ozai, though he was in no mood to appreciate it. He was a prisoner here. Trapped in a strange, twisted city full of strangers and, if the talk was to be believed, all under the whim of some group called the Yao Corporation. Oh how he longed to see those fools burn for their insolence. He wasn’t some cur to be swept up off the street. He was the ruler of a powerful nation, soon to be ruler of the world. Until he’d found himself here. Here in this accursed city without a soul he knew or trusted. Seemed he would have to come to trust these other people, or at least find some way to make use of them. As much as he was loathe to admit it, he didn’t want to consider himself alone in this place.
Fear was a weakness Ozai had rid himself of long ago, back when he still longed for his father’s acceptance and would shrink under his withering gaze. He hadn’t felt fear for many years but he has to admit there his…something about this place. It’s not the same kind of feeling he was used to. No, Haven brought out something more primal. An odd, but all consuming sense of foreboding that lay like a blanket over everything, touching and tainting it. Ozai wished to do nothing more than to burn away that feeling. Burn the Yao corporation. Burn its city. Burn these people. Burn it all. Burn. Burn. Burn.

Character Name: Sharon Rainsworth Canon: Pandora Hearts Canon Point: Chapter 94; after Lotti leaves her with Lily and Reim Background/History:Pandora Hearts | Sharon Rainsworth
At first glance, it's evident enough that Sharon Rainsworth has an air of grace to her. She's a textbook example of what a lady is and should be, after all, having been raised as an heiress to a prestigious dukedom. This upbringing outlines everything from her proud posture to her insinuating way with words. She's no stranger to the dance of politics, and is more than capable of holding her own in a debate while remaining a charming girl at the same time. Gentle, well-mannered and demure are all descriptions that would crop up if one were to ask about her.
An excellent conversationalist, she knows what to say and how to say it, and is well-versed in any handful of topics that could possibly pop up at work or a social event. History, politics, recent happenings and more are all things she familiarizes with, making herself more than capable of keeping a chat going, small talk or debate. Being involved in the politics of her time, Sharon's way with words also makes her adept at manipulation, subtle as it may be. Much like her grandmother, she can cow others with little more than a smile, and gets her way more often than not because of it.
Along with having a way with words, Sharon is a good listener. Observant of the little things, she's the one to pull a friend aside and ask them how they're doing after a particularly stressful day once she notices that something isn't right with them. Over a cup of tea, she'll dispense rather sensible advice and send them on their way, once she's certain that the crisis has been averted. It wouldn't be wrong to call her one of the more competent members of their group, and that becomes clear once she's had her way with clearing up any emotional turmoil amongst them.
However, this all lies very much at the surface of who Sharon is. The traits of a noblewoman, along with her appearance, are merely tools to be used at her disposal. If there's something she wants, she will follow the best route to get it as quickly as possible. She's not above playing coy and smiling sweetly to get her way if that's what it takes and, more often than not, it does work. Her girlish wiles often make it easy for one to forget that she's an esteemed member of Pandora and excels in gathering information through the use of her Chain.
At the end of the day, Sharon is still very much the young girl she was ten years ago. No matter how informed she is on the current state of affairs, she's still a sheltered and naive child that's been too dependent on a power that isn't truly her own. Once she realizes this, her frustration grows. She doesn't want to be useless, defenseless little girl anymore. Already familiar with being kidnapped and poisoned, she goes through a period of stubborn foolishness to prove herself wrong, only to nearly die without her Chain. It's this wake up call that allows her to overcome this frustration- she admits that she is useless, and is trying to accept that even if she cannot be as strong as she'd like, she can still help her friends in a way that doesn't put her at risk anymore.
To the people she trusts, Sharon is more than just well-mannered lady. She's a girl whose emotions run deep, and a short temper to match. More than once, she reaches her limit due to worrying over Break's ( rather flippant ) way of handling his health, resulting in her attacking him once he wakes up again before breaking down into tears and scolding him. As composed as she'd like you to believe her to be, she doesn't handle worry well and the hold on her stronger emotions can be tenuous at best.
To those that know her best, Sharon is a fantasizing romantic. Instantly lighting up and starry eyed at the mention of romantic tension between the group, she doesn't hesitate to insist on Alice calling her "Big Sister" while prying for details between her and Oz's "relationship", consulting her "bible of romance" as she does so. She is overjoyed to partake in social events as well, having been barred from most, regarding circumstances to her contract. Occasionally, forming a contract will prevent one from aging. Due to a social law where one is only recognized as an adult and able to participate in events at the age of fifteen, Sharon cannot attend any events unless they are work-related, as she is still technically thirteen.
Overall, Sharon is a passionate girl who holds herself to the political composure that society expects of her. She's steely at best and knows enough to admit when she's at her worst, no matter how hard it may be. Becoming a lady as noble as those before her while overcoming the battles with herself and her friends is a struggle, but nonetheless, Sharon aims to be a true Rainsworth woman, "cheerful graceful and beautiful...no matter what she is going through."
To delve into Sharon's abilities, certain aspects of the 'verse she's from need to be explained. In the world of Pandora Hearts, there exist beings called Chains. Chains reside in the Abyss, and it is the Abyss that "gives them life", so to speak. The original form of these creatures ranged from objects that originally existed in the Abyss to the souls of living beings. Over time, however, the power of the Abyss warped them, turning them into what we now know as Chains. All Chains have particularly outstanding regeneration capabilities and their durability is equally high, the only differing factor being their appearance and powers. (example: Mad Hatter is the only chain that can destroy other chains, as it was specifically made for this) For the most part, Chains are unable to leave the Abyss unless there is a distortion (known as The Way) or through the Doors to the Abyss, and the few that do leave are unable to sustain themselves for prolonged periods of time.
Unless of course, they have a host. Humans can form contracts with Chains, either by drinking the blood of the Chain (which is considered to be an "Illegal Contract" by Pandora), or by soaking a Carcere (blood seal mirror) in it instead (considered to be a "Legal Contract" by Pandora). Once the contract is made, a Chain can exist within the human world with it's host until their Incuse (a sigil or mark the host bears either on their body or on the Carcere) has made twelve progressions and completed a full rotation. It is important to note that the amount of power a Chain under the command of a Legal Contractor is slightly restricted compared to an Illegal one.
Sharon Rainsworth works for Pandora, and thus has formed a Legal Contract with the Chain, Equus. Its appearance is that of a violet-eyed, black unicorn with its mane, tail, and the hooves replaced by purple flames. Equus is capable of travelling between locations, as well as other dimensions, by manipulating the darkness. However, this must be in areas where the power of the Abyss is strong, otherwise it is much more difficult to create portals. It is mainly used for reconnaissance, as it is capable of hiding in people's shadows, allowing Sharon to communicate with and observe the target through it.
She's gone through a brief few lessons in swordsmanship with Break, though how skillful she's become at it is questionable at best. If anything, she's familiar with the bare bones of basic structure in defense, but it's better than nothing!
As a footnote, she's fond of using a harisen, or paper fan, to reprimand her cluster of idiots friends on occasion. It may not be battle-worthy, but it does make her a least a little more fearsome... kinda.
Items/Weapons: - her Carcere, binding her contract with Equus; - a harisen; - practice sword;
