APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN!
The next processing date is Friday 11th October
IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE
We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.
In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.
You may apply for two characters every two weeks, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.
Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. If you wish to request a specific apartment, please do so in the relevant part of the application. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.
If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.
Every attempt will be made to place a character in their chosen apartments, though this may not always be possible depending on the slots available.
Applications are open constantly, but are only processed every other Friday at 7PM EST. The Saturday following acceptance, an IC mingle log will be posted for characters to be introduced to the game.
We now have a test drive community athaventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old.

MODERATOR SAMPLE APPLICATION | FAITH LEHANE | BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER | RESERVED
Contact Info:
Other Characters Played: None.
Preferred Apartment: None.
Character Name: Faith Lehane
Canon: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Background/History: Canon Background / Faith's Background
Personality: To the casual observer, Faith would seem confident - perhaps even overconfident - secure in her sexuality and aggressive with what she wants.
Which she is, to a point.
She would be the first to say that "childhood issues" were so cliche, but that doesn't mean they don't ring true to her. She learned not to trust anyone from a very young age; her father went to jail for murder when she was only four, and her mother abandoned her to become a whore when she was still in school. She believes that it's better to not let anyone in, as everyone is bound to disappoint eventually. The aggressive moves, to take what she wants without care for those around her, is mostly just a defence mechanism. This has become so much a part of her, that it would be untrue to justify it as only a defensive shell; she does have a streak of aggressive attitude that goes all the way to her core. On the flip side to that, she does still truly want someone to care about her and stand beside her. She might not be the type of friend that can be called over for a slumber party, but once her loyalty is earned then it's unwavering. It's seen when Wesley comes to her in jail to tell her about Angelus, and she says she will never give up on him, because he was the only one never to give up on her.
Initially, Faith is very much a loose cannon. She grew up without much in the way of rules or guidance, and she never had any real attachments to anchor her in place. Because of having to grow up too fast, losing faith in the adults around her and nobody taking her to task, she learned that kicking, screaming and sex were the only things that were going to get her noticed. Her temper is a hair trigger, she seems to enjoy violence as though it were a recreational drug, and revels in teasing the men around her with her sexuality. She enjoys the attention, it's the next best thing to real affection and a much safer thing for her to indulge in. Yet this recklessness leads to blind acceptance of a very dark path. She kills a man and then turns to the "dark side", pushing away reservations for the sake of a father figure finally in her life.
Although there is no denying that Faith can be a creature of impulse, she tries to curb herself later in the series in order to work as a team with Buffy and the potential slayers. She does have have a conscience, even if she pretends not to sometimes. Killing the Mayor's aide, fighting Buffy and torturing Wesley were all huge steps down a path of self-destruction. Eventually, the guilt was so great and overwhelming that she attempted to make Angel kill her. When he doesn't give up on her, the first person ever not to, it cracks her defenses and starts a change for the better. Perhaps for the first time in her life, she takes responsibility for her actions. Giving herself up to the police marks a big step in maturity for Faith, and a step towards healing the issues of abandonment and guilt.
In no way is she fully reformed or an angel, she's not the rogue slayer for nothing. Faith is still short on patience, fast on the attack and sharp of tongue. But she's not a bad person and she's on her way to realising that about herself.
Abilities/Powers: Faith is a vampire slayer. This basically means she's an ordinary human being, with a few enhancements. She's faster, significantly stronger, possesses a natural aptitude with fighting styles and weaponry, and has a greater dexterity than normal. She heals faster than would be natural, but it's not instant by any means. As a slayer, she also can have prophetic dreams about coming threats, but she can't control when they come or always know what they mean.
Sample Entry: [The voice that suddenly comes through the cell phones that morning is American, female and irritated.]
I'm gonna take a wild guess and say this isn't, like, some whacked-out, slayer voodoo dream. I mean if it is, damn, you guys got your shit on since last time. No more of that eighties retro fuzz.
[Wait, that's off topic. And she is already way over this place, she doesn't have time for whatever shitty hell dimension this is supposed to be.]
Look, we both know I can fuck you up. But I can do it fast, or nice and slow. So why don't you get your scaly demon asses out here so I can kick them and we can all go home?
[No takers? She sighs.]
This whole thing is getting wicked old.
Sample Entry Two: The beat of the music was thudding through the club loudly enough to shake the dancefloor. Faith hadn't had a decent party since going to jail, not that a good fight wasn't equally as fun. Several guys had offered to buy her drinks, and she wasn't about to turn down free alcohol. She could feel eyes on her as she gyrated against a tall guy with big muscles, and it felt good. He was pretty, kinda obvious about his intentions. But that was okay by her, she wasn't looking for any kind of committment.
Another guy put his hands on her hips and pulled her in closer. She laughed and went with it, he was kinda geeky looking but she was keeping her options open. Fucking typical that they couldn't see that and one took a swing at the other. It was funny until they spilled her drink, that was a bad move. She dealt the first a roundhouse kick to send him stumbling into the other. Glaring down at them both, she raised her voice to be heard over the music.
"Disappointed, yo. Guess you kids never learned to share."
