Applications Two

APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED!
The next application opening date is Friday 16th January, 7pm EST.
The next application processing date is Friday 23rd January, 7pm EST.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.

While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

To see what we are looking for:
Canon Characters:

bladebender: (SERIOUS ► no)

Mai | Avatar: The Last Airbender 3/3

[personal profile] bladebender 2014-10-10 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Abilities/Powers:
Mai has no special powers, but she is a highly skilled thrower of projectile objects including knives and arrows, which she keeps on her person. Her apathy and negativity is practically a skill, as well.

Items/Weapons: Aside from her clothes, Mai will arrive with three sets from her weapons arsenal kept on her person, which would be three sets of throwing knives.

Sample Entry: Here!
Sample Entry Two:
In Haven, we are all safe... together. Yeah, sure, safe is exactly how Mai feels when she wakes up in a bed not her own, far from her aunt's flower shop.

It could be worse. Haven's buildings could be painted orange, for example. That would be worse.

One might expect the apathetic Mai to appreciate a dreary place like Haven, but no. No. Everything feels grimy and unsanitary and ew no why this, she did not leave the capital for this. And it's boring. After leaving the mystery bed she woke up in and the mystery people she woke up with, Mai wanders Haven. She can believe that she'd been kidnapped, since obviously she wouldn't choose to come to a place like this of her own free will. But what do her kidnappers want? Ransoming her is pointless-- her parents went far down the rung of nobility for their support of Ozai, and no one would be stupid enough to ransom her to her ex-boyfriend.

Whatever the reason, Mai is not going to sit here. She's not here to sit and play the we're all in this together game. Given that no one appears to be actively guarding the town, it seems a simple matter of walking out. No one appears to be selling maps (or selling anything, weird enough in of itself, everything else aside) and someone has attempted claiming that writing isn't possible here. If it wasn't obvious before, it is now. Everyone in this town is insane. And frankly, Mai doesn't have the patience for this.

She plans to head the next Earth Kingdom town (she's presuming this must be the Earth Kingdom solely because she's sure this isn't the Fire Nation), get a map and head back to to her aunt's flower shop.

Then she hits the barrier. She presses a hand to it, walking along it for more than several minutes. She's not an idiot, it's clear whatever the hell this is likely wraps around the whole town. Sigh. So much for that. No wonder the town is nuts. She'd lose it if she were blocked inside a place like that for any length of time. With nothing better to do, she'll head back to the place she woke up and wait. So be it. She'll just have to wait it out. And if her captors appear... well, they're sure to find themselves facing the sharp end of her knives.

Tohru Adachi ⚬ Persona 4 [2] spoilers for Ultimax

[personal profile] shoved 2014-10-10 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
And that brings us to the final contradiction of Adachi's personality. After his defeat at the hands of the Investigation Team, humiliated and injured, Adachi accepts his loss with as much dignity as you can expect from him and allows the Investigation Team to do whatever they want with him. Instead of leaving him to die like he expects, they instead pull him back into the real world and demand that he take responsibility for his crimes. And he actually accepts this. He agrees to play by their rules and by proxy the world's rules, allowing himself to be escorted off by the police to face justice. He claims to be above relationships, but he's clearly touched when Dojima personally sends an ambulance out to wait for him when he returns from the TV. He cares about Nanako, too, and even Yu, the target of so much pent-up jealousy and frustration for being the sort of person Adachi hates, who he tells as much when he sends the Investigation Team a letter from jail months later, giving them a vital clue about the real instigator behind the fog because he can't clean up his messes by himself. And then, before Yu can get too comfortable with the idea that Adachi is truly sorry, he closes the letter by calling Yu a dumbass and asking him to stay healthy. What a guy, right?

Surprisingly, this attitude sticks well into his incarceration during the events of the P-1 Climax. Adachi continues to honor his agreement to the Investigation Team by doing his time until it's threatened by the appearance of a mysterious boy named Sho Minazuki who takes control of a policeman to throw Adachi back into the Midnight Channel. Revealing that he wants to use him against the Investigation Team and use the energy given off by their Personas in the subsequent confrontation for his own agenda, Sho gives Adachi an ultimatum: help him, or die and risk having the serial murders continue again. Adachi, of course, agrees. Why? Because if he doesn't, last year's investigation will have been for nothing and the police will have no choice but to set him free, and as a result he'll never pay for his crimes. And because he's made a promise, because it's a direct violation of what he's come to claim as his rules, not even the world's anymore but his, it does more than just piss him off.

So he helps Sho — or so he leads him into believing, anyway. Playing the part of the apathetic bystander who's nonetheless eager to see chaos unfold, Adachi uses his position to help by cryptically dispense clues to the Investigation Team under the pretense of mocking them, knowing that if he were to tell them outright Sho would immediately dispose of him. He drops hints and uses shrewd tactics to keep his allegiance uncertain until the very end, even going so far as to save the Shadow Operatives and distract Sho from immediately noticing the Investigation Team when they eavesdrop on them talking; he even comes between Sho and the kids to keep them from fighting on several occasions. In spite of this, however, the nastiness still remains. With all of his masks set aside, there's even less of a reason for him to hold back, as evident when, in prison, he goads a prison guard into attacking him by taunting him about his own shady past when the man has the gull to ridicule Dojima in front of him. The entitlement has been dulled to something a little less thorny and unbridled, but the crass insults and demoralizing jeers and all its trappings remain. Even when his game has been found out and Sho proceeds to unleash a world of hurt on him, Adachi takes it all with little more than a laugh to even out all the pain, telling Sho not to insult him by putting himself on his level. That he actually has a reason to hate the world and Sho is little more than a spoiled brat lashing out; that just looking at him irritates the hell out of Adachi because it reminds him of the person he used to be back in Inaba; and that even if Sho does kill him, he better be ready for the Investigation Team to come after him next. He remains true to these convictions even when Yu arrives to save the day, putting aside everything to team up with his old enemy to finally bring an end to the P1-Climax — and by extension, the threat to their world.

Ultimately, Adachi is a perfect fit for his Arcana, the Jester, a reversed version of the Fool. Whereas the Fool embodies the beginning of a new journey and reaching a state of limitless creativity where life can be lived to the fullest, the Jester is the total opposite: impulsive and reckless with very little regard to those around itself or the potential it's squandering. For everything awful he's done, he offers no further justification than what he had when the Investigation Team first confronted him — he was bored and this great goddess-given power came to him as compensation for a life of perceived hardship. His manipulative tendencies and misanthropy are so deeply ingrained into his personality that it's crucial to the person he was when Yu first met him — the overly chatty, bumbling detective hiding a dark secret — and the one he is now: the lackadaisical former killer who finds himself allied with the very children who put him away in the first place to insure that nothing they did would go to waste as a matter of his own personal pride, who mercilessly belittles his opponents and treats anyone who crosses him like dirt beneath his shoe, but who is also a little more willing to face the truth, to take responsibility for his actions, and a tiny bit less reluctant to admit that maybe, perhaps, having just a bond may not be such a bad thing after all.

Abilities/Powers:

Adachi is a Persona-user, meaning that he's one of a select few who can summon a spiritual manifestation of his true self — a Persona — from the depths of his soul to fight for him. Whereas the usual method of obtaining one is to either be born with the potential or gain it after accepting your Shadow self, as is the case with the majority of the Investigation Team sans Yu, Adachi's is special as it was bestowed upon him by the goddess Izanami, who granted him, Yu and Namatame the potential upon unwittingly meeting her after their respective arrivals in Inaba. As such, his Persona, Magatsu-Izanagi, is unique in that it's all but identical to Yu's own Persona, Izanagi, hinting at its divine nature.

Magatsu-Izanagi is resistant to Light/Dark spells and is currently level 73 (HP: 4200, Magic: 55, Strength: 65, Endurance: 66, Agility: 45, Luck: 45). Its abilities are as follows:

Vorpal Blade ▶ Inflicts heavy Physical damage on all enemies.
Ziodyne ▶ Inflicts heavy Electric damage on one enemy.
Maziodyne ▶ Inflicts heavy Electric damage on all enemies.
Garudyne ▶ Inflicts heavy Wind damage on one enemy.
Magarudyne ▶ Inflicts heavy Wind damage on all enemies.
Power Charge ▶ The next normal attack, physical skill, or Almighty physical attack will be 2.5 times greater in power. Self.
Mudoon ▶ 50% chance of instant death from the power of Darkness on one enemy.
Dekaja ▶ Cancels stat increase on all enemies.
Heat Riser ▶ Increases an ally's Attack, Defense and Agility for 3 turns.
Evil Smile ▶ 25% chance of inflicting the Fear ailment on all enemies.
Foolish Whisper ▶ 25% chance of inflicting the Silence ailment on all enemies.
Ghastly Wail ▶ Instantly kills all enemies suffering from Fear ailment.
Atom Smasher ▶Inflicts medium Physical damage on all enemies up to 2 times with a chance of fear.
Megidola ▶ Inflicts heavy Almighty damage on all enemies.

Additionally, Adachi can also enter the Midnight Channel, a bizarre world inhabited by creatures called Shadows, by using televisions as portals. During the events of the first game, Adachi was also able to demonstrate several other abilities inside the Midnight Channel such as the power to create illusionary duplicates of himself, change the terrain of the environment, and even summon powerful Shadows to attack his enemies. However, all of this can be assumed to be due to the presence of an entity known as Ameno-sagiri that had been laying dormant in him at the time because, by the end of the game when Ameno-sagiri has been expelled from his body and by the beginning of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, he displays no such abilities when he finds himself in the Midnight Channel once more.

Finally, Adachi has one more ability in Magatsu-Izanagi: the power to perform a fusion spell with Yu's Izanagi where the two of them merge together to execute an immensely powerful attack that takes the form of sword. This power seems isolated to Adachi and Yu given the nature of their Personas as neither of them have ever performed it or an attack of similar nature before.

Items/Weapons: All Adachi has on him aside from the clothes on his back is his New Nambu M60 handgun, with an according clip of extra ammo.
Sample Entry: Here

Sample Entry Two:

Adachi had only just finished closing and locking the door to his apartment when he heard the noise behind him — guttural but small, a sound that was so passive aggressive he didn't even need to turn around to see who it was because he knew immediately, because while there were many people on this floor who were irritating in some way — some more minor than others to the point of being insignificant, even he could admit that — there was only one person who had a habit of clearing their throat in such a distinct way to announce their presence. And, seeing as how it was only six o'clock in the morning (as if that mattered), hearing it this early either meant one of two things: it was actually important or it was the beginning of one of those long, long, long days.

“Saito-san.”

“Tohru-kun.” The old woman nodded, her lips pulling into a pleasant smile that was wide enough for her toothless gums to peek through her wrinkled old mouth. In that instant, Adachi wanted to gag. Instead, he returned her smile, awkward and out of place as it was, and raised a hand to rub the back of his head. God, what he would have given for an actual good morning. It'd been so long since he had a chance to eat breakfast before work. Whatever he had in his fridge was infinitely better than anything in the station's break-room, mold and all, so today seemed like a first in terms of setting new records. First time eating a go— okay, alright breakfast in four weeks; shortest time spent throwing together whatever was clean in my laundry basket; and now, longest time spent standing here listening to this rotten old—

“It's gotten colder,” Saito said with a laugh. Adachi could feel the pulse ticking away in the wrist of the hand that held his key give a sick, sudden leap, her laugh being repulsive enough to remind him of something shivering, like the congealed mess currently festering in the jello mold that lie tucked away in the back of his fridge. “The weather man was wrong again, as usual. Back when I was a young woman, we didn't have computers to help tell us things like that. Now everyone is using them and people have forgotten the old fashioned way. That's such a shame.”

“Yeah,” Adachi said. He smiled modestly. See, bitch? You're not the only one who can play nice, that smile said to anyone who had a pair of working brain cells to rub together. Of course, he was talking to Saito who probably thought it meant that he was agreeing with her.

“Oh, you're on your way to work, right?” She asked. “I was on my way back from the market — you know how early they open — and I didn't see your bike when I came back. I'd thought you already left, but since you're still here...”

“Uh, I thiiiink I might've told you already that I don't own a bike,” Adachi said, jabbing the air with the point of his key in a faintly puzzled, troubled gesture. It was so rhetorical it might as well have been a non-statement. Of course he'd told her. Either she had a budding case of dementia or just enjoyed fucking with him; he could never tell which. Such was the case with the elderly, he supposed. He had yet to meet anyone of her age who wasn't putting on an act in some form or other for attention or company or some other petty shit that made sense only to them. He wouldn't have been surprised if the TV in her apartment was broken or something and this was the only form of entertainment good enough to meet her standards. “Why didn't you call someone? If it was stolen on the property, it'd be the landlord's job to go through the proper channels.”

Saito gave another ladylike cough. “Oh? Well, I'll have to do that.”

“Sure you will.” Adachi winked. Finally pocketing his key, he stepped away from the door and edged around the woman. “And you know whose desk it's going to end up on the moment you do!”

Saito laughed heartily, joining in on Adachi's chuckle. Like the prior smile, it too had another easily read but easily missed second meaning to it: not mine.

Personality:
"A game about Mafia? Cool!"

There are at least three common first impressions people get upon meeting Yamamoto:

1. He is dumb.
2. He is obsessed with baseball.
3. He is really happy.

In actuality, Yamamoto isn't really any of those things -- not completely, at least. He's honestly just your average and friendly teenage boy who lives in Japan, whose father owns a sushi restaurant, and just so happens to love baseball: something he's also really good at and very passionate about. He is the star player of Namimori Middle's baseball team and has dreams of becoming a professional baseball player after graduating high school; with his skills, it probably wouldn't be out of his reach. He's so passionate about baseball that he nearly committed suicide when he broke his arm during practice one day.

To any other person, a broken arm is really not a big deal. But to Yamamoto, that was equivalent to Armageddon. Yamamoto's grades in school were average at best, but baseball was truly where he shined. His devotion to baseball is nearly the same as Gokudera's devotion to Tsuna, or his father's devotion to kendo, and he spent hours during the day practicing. A broken arm would be a severe stunt in his goal to going pro and that devastated him to no end. That's really one of the most important things to Yamamoto's personality: he's very driven and very passionate in what he does and believes in. Fortunately, Tsuna manages to save him and in turn, receives Yamamoto's undying loyalty for all of eternity.

And that's how he starts off: as comic relief, the dumb jock that literally laughs at everything, who always has a smile on and seemingly doesn't know how to get angry. He's warm, he's caring, he's popular (this is the guy who is usually surrounded by groups of girls just waiting for him to accept their chocolates and gifts on Valentine's Day), and he's pretty much everything you'd want in a friend. He's like that for most, if not all, of the daily life arc and his sort of wide-eyed innocence and goofy (almost impossible) sense of obliviousness serves as a nice balance between Tsuna's eternal worry and Gokudera's eternal rage. Yet, it's during this early, silly period that we actually get to know Yamamoto better and suddenly, everyone slowly comes to realize that he's actually not so dumb after all. It's in the way he takes on Lancia, seeing through his technique before any of the others can; in the way he masters his father's kendo technique in about a week; it's even in the way he always manages to find some way to defeat his opponents without fatally wounding them. Even when facing an impossible enemy like Squalo, the famed Sword Emperor, he's still all smiles as he walks in calmly and full of belief in everything that his father taught him. Though he's mocked at and nearly gets beaten, he never gives up hope and faith, which is ultimately what gains him the upper hand... and Squalo's tutelage ten years into the future.

It's this sort of intelligence that sort of sucker punches everyone in the face and it's at that point that Yamamoto is finally on the cusp of manhood.

And not long after this realization, Yamamoto starts fleshing out to be a well-rounded character. Of course, he still seems clueless and oblivious and thinks the mafia is one huge game, but there are times when that obliviousness and naivety turns into quick perception and maturity in a drop of a hat. It has to, especially in the world ten years later, when he's given up his dreams of going pro and is in his prime as Tsuna's Rain Guardian, battling against the people who killed his father, and taking on missions where he can't exactly get away with just knocking out his opponents with the blunt edge of his blade. That's another important thing about Yamamoto: even ten years in the future, he's still very loyal to his friends and will never hesitate to do what he can to help them, to the point where he would give up the dream he'd been working on fulfilling since he was a kid.

It's also in the future arc that we see the slightly more jaded, more weary side of him that is not only expressed in the scar he now bears on his chin, but in his smile that the rest of the characters have grown so accustomed to. His humor is still there and many of his traits are still present; however, Yamamoto doesn't hold back his punches anymore (he takes out a mobile suit with just one strike when he makes his debut in the Future arc) and it's here that we see the results of all his growing. It serves as a warning and a reminder of what he can become, if Tsuna and the rest of his guardians in the present were not stuck in the future and did not manage to stop Byakuran.

But back to the present: his strength doesn't just lie in his physical skills, he's a terribly fast and adaptable learner. It's almost kind of terrifying -- underneath the bright smile and laughter lies the skills of a natural born assassin. And while some may think that talent is wasted on someone like Yamamoto, it's really no surprise (almost ironic, even) that it would come so easily to him. Another important thing about Yamamoto is that he's always dependable. People can rely on him to get the job done (and get it done right) and to be the one that holds the group together. Yamamoto is all about teamwork and cooperation, which he doesn't fail to attempt to beat into Gokudera's head when the latter withdraws into himself and starts pushing everyone away. He does it with such ease; though his naturally warm and friendly disposition probably helps with that.

At his core, Yamamoto is a very kind and loyal person, in that normally awkward transition from boy to young man -- awkward for everyone else, but nothing is ever awkward for Yamamoto. He takes everything in stride and that takes a certain grace and intelligence that not too many have.

PETER PARKER | MARVEL 616 | RESERVED

Name: Froot
Contact Info: [plurk.com profile] frooting, AIM: frugivorous
Other Characters Played: Also apping Youichi Hiruma, yeyeye
Requested apartment: N/A

Character Name: Peter Parker ("Spider-Man")
Canon: The Amazing Spider-Man, Marvel 616
Canon Point: The Amazing Spider-Man V1 642ish, after the events of "One Moment In Time"
Background/History: [x]
Personality:
To understand Peter, you have to understand what philosophies he's chosen to define himself by. That can only be explained through the iconic catch-phrase and personal motto of the man who came to accept and respect his title as the Amazing Spider-Man:
‶With great power comes great responsibility.″
Brave to a fault, he dons Spider-Man's mask to thwart the evil he's made it his responsibility to bring to justice. Because of this strict sense of duty he upholds, he is not the frail, bullied kid he was in high school before his abilities manifested; he has no issue jumping into situations far over his head (almost typed "pay grade", that'd be an instant app rejection), courage to overcome the impossible stronger than the fear of remaining idle. It's his righteousness that fuels it, the memory of his dead Uncle Ben and the fact that he was powerless to stop the man's death that drives it. "I'm trying, Uncle Ben... and I'll always keep trying. That's my promise."

And Peter does keep trying, knowing there never will be an answer to his deep yearning for the pride of his family, friends, and city—he's stubborn. Stubborn enough that sometimes he just can't leave things well enough alone.

As the plucky comic relief character to his own series, he has a tried and true tactic of aggravating his enemies (and allies, sadly enough) with stream-of-consciousness witticism and wile. He presses and presses and presses until it's overbearing. It's no wonder he's known to many as the intolerable, annoying hero from America's legendarily-loud New York City, and he lives up to the infamy with a sassy attitude, campy humour, and an endless internal monologue he can't quite switch off. The majority of it is intentional, even strategically used against his opponents to anger them; shake them up and make them err. The rest?

Defence mechanisms. For Peter, they come in the form of holier-than-thou mockeries, an unfaltering optimism, and laughing in the faces of danger and injury. When he's stressed, he's a chatterbox. When he's fearful, he's the court jester. Even his villains who get him under-thumb find it hard to believe, hissing, "Always with the wisecracks" or "Just shut up."

Although Peter comes across as a total weirdo, his sharp tongue and equally sharp wit are a complimentary testament to his broad intellect. Not only did he receive a full scholarship to Empire State University and graduated with a Masters degree in Biophysics, the man supposedly has a staggering IQ north of 250, intelligent enough to be recognized by some of Earth's most brilliant scientists. It's one of his more flattering traits; he can carry conversation well, takes pride in the extent of his knowledge, and is confident in his nerdy lifestyle. Though he does make some pretty numb-skulled mistakes in social situations and making important judgement calls, but it isn't surprising how he's managed to carry himself this far in his illustrious "career" as Spider-Man.

Yet, in the shadow of his beautiful mind, he's an instinctual man driven by that Spider-Sense and how he feels in the thrill of the moment. He's reactionary; adrenaline is a big factor for him, and his reactions to danger and love are strikingly alike. Peter is prone to creature comforts (rarely finding them—he's not that lucky) and finds solace in simple things such as a good rest, a decent meal, and spending time with his loved ones, especially the notable ladies in his life. Even he admits that he's doomed to be a helpless romantic, caught saying "It's like going out with girls! I can't give it up!" The man's been around the block—so to speak—and has had many loves, many conquests, and many, many heartbreaks. Things that drag him out of his brain, such as lazing around or playing around, are hailed as scarce luxuries he oftentimes feels rather guilty for indulging in.

Peter has a notoriously short temper, frequently seen when friends and family members are in danger, and is liable to make a scene or hollow threats when he finds himself overwhelmed with emotion. Matters of the heart always glean his undivided attention—he gets serious when issues themselves are serious.

Maturity strikes when he needs a sober view of people, including himself and his own actions. Self-consciousness is a major character flaw; he's often found blaming himself for matters well beyond his control, and events in his life that were brought on by his immaturity or neglect (see: the death of his Uncle Ben, and his girlfriend Gwen Stacy). He has a poor self-esteem, despite coming across as an egotistical optimist, and doubts often in the wake of petty mistakes and life's missteps. He's dubbed this "Parker luck" as a way of coping, feeling cursed to a stereotypically overdramatic existence.

Injury and hurt have affected him a lot. Peter is a wounded soul, putting on a tough front vicariously through the guise of Spider-Man. Occasionally—especially in the younger days of his heroics, though infrequently now that he's matured—he finds it difficult to work in teams considering the fact that his style of fighting and his own detective work is specialized and seclusive, respectively.

So don't be surprised if he brushes you off to be on his own. Chances are, since he's a helpless extrovert with self-imposed loner tendencies, he'll find his way back to take comfort in the ones closest to him.
Abilities/Powers:
‶Spider physiology″
Peter manifested proportionate powers of a spider after he was bitten by an irradiated common house spider. From this, he's gained numerous superhuman abilities:
Strength (can lift up to ten tons, holds back on strikes unless he's fighting someone like him, can jump several stories vertically)
Speed (an olympic athlete on crack, capable of running/moving far faster than a natural human, can catch up with cars on foot)
Stamina (produces less fatigue toxins during physical activity, can stay at his peak for several hours, can hold his breath for eight minutes or more)
Durability (takes hits like a champ, falls from incredible heights with no discomfort, a normal human's punch will break their wrist if he's flexing)
Agility (extraordinarily limber and flexible, tissues are twice as elastic as your average human's, enhanced coordination and balance)
Equilibrium (perfect balance in any position imaginable on any object no matter how small or narrow, adjusts position by instinct)
Reflexes (40 times greater than those of an ordinary human, can dodge almost any attack, or even gunfire if he's distanced enough)
Healing (broken bones/tissue damages heal up in days, high tolerance to diseases and drugs, radioactive blood kills foreign contaminants)
‶Spider-Sense″
Peter has a finely tuned spider-sense (or "danger" sense) that tingles at the back of his skull when there's trouble, even while he's sleeping, stunned, or distracted—it's nigh clairvoyant in quality, though not nearly as over-powered; it lends him several hundredths of a second's warning and it works hand-in-hand with his superhuman reflexes, allowing him to dodge attacks and avoid injury. At times, it may circumstantially be triggered several minutes before an event, depending on when, where, and what the gravity of the danger is.

The spider-sense is directional, and can work like a compass to find his enemies or whatever's proving to be a danger at the time. Used once, like Dare-Devil's radar sense, when he was blinded by the New Vulture, his senses allowed him to hone in on the danger so he could parry and retaliate naturally—working in tune with specific radio frequencies, especially from his "spider-tracers" (small tracking devices kept in his utility belt, planted on someone he needs to hunt down later), he can follow the frequencies to his perpetrators.

In severe cases, it can nag him aggressively enough to cause him physical pain and migraine-level headaches.
Items/Weapons:
∙ His jazzy hero duds (usually includes his utility belt, but lemme know if it's too much, I don't mind!)
∙ Wrist-mounted web-shooters
∙ His dumb work phone
Sample Entry:
I'm so sorry.
Sample Entry Two:
Yet another case of Parker Luck.

Except it’s bad this time. Worse.

Some dystopian setting, a city with its buildings in disrepair. Windows barred and boarded, or fogged up with grit and cracked under the pressure of the spooky atmosphere.

Not quite comparable to the slim chances of a torrential downpour on a clear night’s swing home, or one of those “final calls” you narrowly miss trying to catch the last bus and a freaking break.

No, this is a bit on the not-so-funny-now side of his losing streak, and Peter can almost hear his own city—his New York—upheave at the loss; it’s completely blind-siding.

Things were so up and down, back home. Wheels were turning, pots were being stirred. No goddamn time to leave it all behind for this.

Whatever and wherever this is.

“Face it Tiger, you just hit the jackpot.” A quote, whispered dryly—he’s been thirsty for hours.

Nice time for a sardonic thought (now’s not the peachiest time to act bitter, Petey, just look on the bright side; no money, no headaches), but what else can he spice the situation up with? And how do you cheer yourself up when your hands are glued to one big fat lie of a peeling billboard?

IN HAVEN, WE ARE ALL SAFE… TOGETHER

The depiction makes him want to vomit, and for a moment he considers it.

Wouldn't be the first time he’s upchucked chili dog in his mask. Sure as hell wouldn’t be the last.

“Where’s the cutout I can stick my face into? I mean, what kind of tourist trap is this?” He asks the woman holding her gas mask with a pretty smile. “Would you take my picture, sweet cheeks? I’m into scrapbooking my struggles. It’s a hobby.”

A reply would be nice, even though these chipper poster-folk can't offer Peter the information he wants so desperately to unearth. There's that creeping feeling at the back of his skull (that tingle that spells danger, danger, danger) that forces him to entertain the idea that this vast community—even the Haven veterans—will never find what they're seeking.

It scares him. Truly and honestly does.

"We're gonna' be chalk full of stiff-smiled Kodak moments."

Still, even now, Peter is a firm believer in hope.

And when he drops from the sign only to look away from it in earnest, mask blazing red on the backdrop of night, Spider-Man addresses the apartments and the people hidden away.

(The people he's ready to protect.)

"But I'm ready when you are."

Personality: Sousuke is a very quiet boy with a hard to crack exterior, but when you look past that he's actually a very thoughtful person who's really dorky. He's very quiet and keeps to himself. He'll carry on a conversation just so he isn't downright rude or disrespectful to the person he's talking to, but, he's not really the type of person who goes around starting conversations. In fact he's the type of a person who will just stand by quietly in the background, and will only speak when it's necessary or if he's asked a question. He's also really stoic looking and it could be said that he has permanent resting bitch face syndrome. So that coupled with his quiet nature is probably why he doesn't talk as much as the others on his team do.

It also seems like he needs to warm up to people before he's buddy buddy with them. As seen with how he treats Nitori and Momotarou at the beginning of the series. When he first met them he didn't really say or do much, other than when he introduced himself to Nitori. At first he didn't really interact with them much, but as time passed on and he gradually warmed up to them. As seen where he takes Nitori under his wing and helps train him. He also jokingly told Momotarou that he was going to release the stag beetle the other had caught and given to Rin for his little sister. He's extremely loyal (probably one of the most loyal characters in this series) though and is definitely the type to look after his friends. He's also extremely protective of his friends, and will intervene wherever he sees fit. Which is why he confronted Haruka early on.

Like most boys, Sousuke's determination knows no bounds, especially when it comes to things he's very passionate about. He's the type of person who will commit to whatever he's doing and see it through to the end. When he sets his sights on something he usually goes in for the kill. Even if it means fucking himself over in the process. Once he's set his mind on something he usually doesn't go back on his word. But when he has to come to terms with things he takes his time considering the possibilities. And when he does come to terms with the possibility that he has to give up on something he loves, he accepts it with grace. This is why he decided to go back to Samezuka instead of just quitting or giving up on his dream. One, he wanted to make sure that his rival/friend was going to fare all right on his own. And two, wanted to be able to get the chance to swim with his friend one last time before he had to give up and abandon his dreams so quickly. This was one of the reason why he lied to Rin. Because he's usually pretty straightforward, and isn't one to really beat around the bush. But he did this because he didn't want the other worrying over something and not focusing on achieving his own goals. He also lied because he knows how emotional Rin could get, he didn't want his friend to cry over something that he did to himself because of his own thoughtlessness.

But in order to truly understand Sousuke Yamazaki, you need to understand how serious he is when it comes to swimming. Swimming is like his life, and he doesn't take it for granted; or see it as a something to do with your friends to pass the time on a hot summer day. He's poured his entire being into the sport just so he can reach his goals of becoming a professional swimmer and getting the chance to swim with and against his rival and childhood friend, Rin Matsuoka. So when Rin went abroad to Australia to better his swimming career, Sousuke took that as an initiative to better his own skills as well. He would feel horrible if he wasn't able to provide much of a challenge to Rin when he got back home to Iwatobi.

So that's why he threw himself so aggressively and headstrong into training. That's why he didn't really pay much attention to how his body was reacting to his rigorous training until his shoulder had completely shut down on him. And by that point it was too late to go back and fix anything. This is one of the main reasons why he decides to help coach Nitori and help him improve his time. He doesn't want to see someone else making the same mistakes that he did. Especially when the share the same goals of getting to swim with Rin. He's not bitter about it either, like most athletes are when they can't carry on with their dream. He recognizes his own mistakes, learns from and moves on with his life. He has his moments, like when he first initially gave Nitori his blunt advice to get better. But he was able to recognize where Nitori was going to go with it, stepped in, and intervened before Nitori could mess up his career like Sousuke did with his own.

Because he takes the sport so seriously, it's understandable why he has such a negative confrontation with Haruka Nanase. A boy who is as gifted as Haru and only wanting to swim "free" is kind of a joke to Sousuke. He doesn't know Haru well, only that Rin completely idolizes his swimming. And yeah, he admits that Haru is an excellent swimmer, but it's hard for Sousuke to wrap his mind around the effort Haru puts in to swimming. It would be something if he were like a lazy genius, but it isn't. It's completely frustrating to Sousuke because it's obvious to him that Haru doesn't really care about swimming as much as he and Rin do. And as any good best friend/rival, Sousuke wants to see Rin excel in his swimming career. He wants the best for Rin, and he really felt (at the time) that Haru was dragging him down. That's why he confronts Haru and tells him to leave Rin alone, because he doesn't want to see his friend blow his chances at making it big or getting scouted. Unfortunately this confrontation was before he truly knew what happened and that Haru and the other boys on the Iwatobi team actually helped pull Rin out of the slump he had been in last year.

His friendship with Rin is... actually quite an odd one. He spent most of his childhood as Rin's best friend, but he never really considered himself one? Even if he... basically did everything a best friend would do. He visited Rin when he was sick and cheered him up, they would get into stupid pretend sword fights with broomsticks when they were supposed to be cleaning the classroom up, and they pushed each other to do their very best in swimming. They even have the most dorkiest handshake greeting ever. Sousuke knows Rin the most and understands how he works, but he never really considered himself as one of Rin's friends. He probably took that childish fight they had to heart and thought that since he kind of drove Rin away after they fought over the relay that they lost, that he could at least be Rin's rival instead. It's only when he learns what happened to Rin last year and how much the Iwatobi boys helped him out makes him realize that he wants to be included as one of Rin's friends as well. He deeply cares about Rin and at the end of the day he wants nothing more but to see his friend accomplish his dreams.

Abilities/Powers: Sousuke is kind of lacking in magical/super powers. But he kind of makes up for that with his swimming. He's a very gifted swimmer and really excels in anything that has to do with the butterfly stroke.

Items/Weapons: his Samezuka duffle bag, track jacket/shirt/sweatpants, and his shoulder brace.

Sample Entry: random scenario meme + test drive meme.

Sample Entry Two: Sousuke awoke with a complete start as he came to in the unfamiliar looking room. He could have almost convinced himself that this was a hospital, what with the droning beeping noise going off right beside him. That would make sense, after all. Rin probably dragged his sorry ass to the nearest hospital for him to get his shoulder looked at, and the doctor and/or nurse probably put gave him something to relieve the pain and to simultaneously knock him out if he needed to have on-sight surgery. And with the amount of pain he was in after the relay, he could believe that on-sight surgery was needed. He did wreck his arm after all. But... hospitals don't have bunk beds, do they?

As his vision cleared he noticed the beginnings and ends of the metal springs and bars one would need to use in order to support another bed on top of the bed he was laying on. Not that he had any experience looking up at this recently, since he was the one forced to sleep on the top bunk. But it was still recognizable. Beds only had that if they were bunk beds. He sat up slowly as he took in his surroundings, but the moment he put any weight or pressure on his sore shoulder had him doubling over instantly. A noise managed to push past his lips in a very painful hiss as he reached over to clamp his hand onto the shoulder in question. His teeth clenched as he sank back down onto the bed in pain.

Just... remember those breathing exercises and techniques you learned the last time this happened, he thought to himself as he tried to focus on anything but the pain. Seconds turn into minutes as he reclined on the bed uneasily and focused on breathing and simultaneously counting the beginning signs of the springs on the mattress above him. A couple of more minutes pass by before the pain eventually settles down again. It's not completely gone, because unfortunately the pain is still there. But the throbbing in his shoulder has finally dulled down in to a more bearable ache. The pain is probably going to be permanently stuck with him for the rest of his life now, but if you asked him would he race in that relay again? His answer would be: abso-freaking-lutely.

Sousuke's thoughts fleet back to the still recent memory of that race as a small smile forms across his face. Racing in that relay was the perfect way to end his swimming career. In fact, he probably needed to swim in that race more than he needed oxygen to breathe. Because not only did it help him solidify his friendship with Rin, but, he also got to see firsthand how much the relay race actually meant to his rival turned friend as well. ...But now is not the time to be thinking about those things. Right now he needs to be figuring out where he is and if there's even a small possibility that he can get some pain relievers.

.... And maybe a shirt. Since the only thing he seems to be wearing right now are his swimming jammers. With that, Sousuke carefully hoists himself up (this time very mindful of his sensitive shoulder) and out of bed to wander over to the person who's sleeping right across from him.

Abilities/Powers:
"The Shigure Souen Style is completely flawless and invincible!"

DYING WILL FLAMES:
In the world of Reborn, the symbol of the Mafia and the source of the characters' supernatural abilities is the dying will flame. Basically, dying will flames are made up of energy from one's life force and if one channels it properly, it can be used to light up or power different kinds of weapons to be used in battle. The strength and purity of the flame depends on the person's will and the strength of their resolve. There are currently eight different types of flames, each with their own characteristics. Yamamoto possesses flames of the Rain attribute, which means his flames have the ability to null the strength of other flames and cause his targets to slow down considerably.

SHIGURE SOUEN RYU ("SHOWER IN LATE AUTUMN; BLUE SWALLOW")
The most important of Yamamoto's abilities is his kendo style, the Shigure Souen Ryu, that has been passed down to him from his father. Reborn states that "Shigure Souen Ryu's four defensive formations and four offensive formations make up eight forms that allow response in accordance with the circumstances", which means it takes a certain adaptability and dexterity to wield it to its full potential. Although the forms make use of water, Yamamoto is able to summon flames of the Rain attribute, thus as long as he uses his box weapon to fight he can use the techniques just about anywhere.

CAMBIO FORMA: ASARI UGETSU ("CHANGE FORM: MORNING MOON OBSCURED BY RAIN")/AGGREGATE ART: JIUNOKA ("RAINY METAMORPHOSIS")
After his training with Squalo in the future arc, Yamamoto acquires a new four-sword style: Asari Ugetsu (or "How to Kill People With A Bird, A Dog, and A Bamboo Sword"), which is technically a combination of all forms of Shigure Souen Ryu. It mostly involves the use of Jirou's (Yamamoto's other box weapon companion) three short-swords, which look like lightsabers made out of rain flames. With this technique, his already high levels of speed and agility are increased even further.

CAMBIO FORMA VERSION VONGOLA GEAR
With the activation of his necklace of rain, Yamamoto gains two new swords and an outfit change. He also has access to all of the above abilities and two extra forms, Sadachi: Kirisame and Udachi: Kirisame. Both forms are to be used in conjunction and are extremely effective against Mist flame users and their illusions, both of which have been Yamamoto's weakness throughout the manga.

PHYSICAL STRENGTH AND AGILITY
Yamamoto possesses the makings of a natural born assassin, coupled with his athleticism, he's got fast reflexes and can pack quite a punch in his hits. Put a katana in his hands, and he'll cut up everyone faster than you could blink. He's also a scarily fast learner and is pretty observant in analyzing enemy strategies.

In short, Yamamoto is kickass in fights. But he's the only one who will ever pause to cuddle his dog in the middle of a boss fight.

Items/Weapons: The clothes on his back, Shigure Kintoki, and the upgraded Rain ring: Rain Necklace Version X.

Sample Entry: All throughout this post, but more specifically: this thread and this thread. Also, this one too. Let me know if these don't work and I'll provide other ones!

Sample Entry Two:
this sample is taken from a previous app to another rp. let me know if this doesn't fly!

It was one thing to wake up in a foreign bed (soft sheets that weren't his own underneath his fingertips, the scent of clean linen that wasn't the generic brand of detergent they kept in the base assaulting his nose), but another thing entirely to have no memory of getting into said bed. His eyes were still closed, and aside from the minute tensing of his muscles revealing his consciousness, it was as if he never woke at all.

Yamamoto kept his breathing in check, not sensing anyone else in the bed next to him. He opened his eyes then, sitting up and glancing around. It wasn't the base, nor was it the island where the Shimon Family's base was located and as he looked down at himself, he was still wearing the same clothes he was wearing a few moments ago. It was brighter than he expected and though his surroundings were pretty unfamiliar, he took comfort in the house's bamboo construction. It reminded him of the tatami mats back in his father's sushi restaurant.

Still, he wasn't where he was supposed to be and he knew he had to get back as soon as possible; with half the team was gone and held by the Vindice, they were hurting for people and now that Daemon Spade managed to obtain control of Mukuro's body, things were going to get dangerous.

But his thoughts were interrupted by another man (weird, he was pretty sure he was the only one in the room a moment ago), handing him a map and device. He tried to listen closely to what he was saying, but unfortunately, most of it went through one ear and out the other. Except:

"Haha, wait a minute. What do you mean I can't go back?"

Personality: Sherlock Holmes plays the violin when thinking and doesn't talk for days on end. He can get into 'thinking mode' and have no realization that anyone else is around for hours. He's arrogant, imperious, pompous, fascinating, 'not safe' (as described by John). He can read people like books. He is demanding and doesn't ever seem to be aware of how his demands affect others.

Sherlock is a self-proclaimed consulting detective. He defines his job as "When the police are out of their depth, they consult with me." Basically, he solves crimes and mysteries for a living. While his methods of deduction are second to none, his social skills leave something to be desired. The challenge of balancing his deductions and intelligence against his poor social skills is one of the most exciting aspects for me to play.

Sherlock needs an assistant (his words). Mostly because sometimes he gets so caught-up in his own head that he misses something. Having an assistant, an outside eye is valuable to him, because it helps him to ensure he hasn’t missed anything. He gets ecstatic over cases or changes in cases, with no regard to deaths, exclaiming "Four suicides and now a note, oh it's Christmas!" He loves the 'brilliant criminals' because they're "Always so desperate to get caught."

He's been labelled by some as a psychopath or aspergers-ish, but he claims to be a "high-functioning sociopath." Whether this is a self-diagnosis, an actual diagnosis, or something to annoy DI Lestrade's team, is difficult to ascertain. It doesn't matter how he is labelled, because Sherlock has no interest in 'getting better.' Since his mind functions better than anyone else's he doesn't think anything needs fixing.

He has an addiction to nicotine and dabbles in narcotics. Though he claims the drugs are only for cases. Ironically, he believes giving in to his addictions helps him to think. According to ACD canon, Sherlock took morphine and cocaine regularly (they were legal substances back then), so when the issue of drugs/drug abuse come up those are the drugs I use, since it is never explicitly stated in BBC canon.

This "drugs help me" attitude stands in contrast with things that distract him when he's working a case. For instance, digestion slows him down. Sex, love and sentiment and the distractions they offer fall into the same category. He goes so far as to say that “Sentiment is a chemical defect found on the losing side.” Of love: “The chemistry is incredibly simple and highly destructive.” And “Love is a dangerous disadvantage.”

While Sherlock's sexuality is never stated in canon, until something specific is offered, I play him as asexual and aromantic. There are many clues to this, not the least of which is in "A Study in Pink" when John is asking him about his relationships. He mentions not being interested in women or men and that he's married to his work. Further confirmed, that when Irene is naked, he doesn't NOT look at her face, as well as when she is trying to seduce him and he simply takes her pulse. You can toss as much sexual activity as you want at him, it will be met with disinterest. Though, he might get scientific within his observations, he will not engage in sexual activities - because he simply isn't interested.

Sherlock has a meditative state he refers to as his "Mind Palace" which is a memory technique he enters to sort through all the information in his head. Sometimes this provides quick results and sometimes it can take time for him to sort through all the information. The end result is usually the same: a break in the case.

John offers Sherlock a conscience not just as a sounding board, but grounds him in his humanity. Sherlock doesn't have "friends." But, he would say he has just one: John Watson. John constantly offers Sherlock something he's never experienced before: being valued and accepted - eccentricities and all. And Sherlock finds himself doing the same towards John. The second day they knew each other, John shot and killed someone to save Sherlock's life. But Sherlock wasn't able to identify the killer as John until he started to rattle off the qualities the shooter must have had. He came to a complete stop in the delivery of his deduction when he came to the phrase "nerves of steel." It is rare that Sherlock ever stops when he's in the middle of a deduction, which marks that phrase as something different: that one phrase in Sherlock's mind is what sets John apart from so many others.

People say John had to deal with a lot when he lived with Sherlock, they seem to forget that John has habits that are equally troublesome to Sherlock. At the top of the list is the fact that Sherlock can't really help John - other than keeping him busy. Of course this benefits Sherlock as he now has an audience with him everywhere he goes, but it is clear by the time they meet Irene Adler that Sherlock has grown to care for John. In a sense, John is the brother that Sherlock wishes Mycroft had been. In another, John is the only close friend Sherlock has ever had. Sherlock respects and values John enough to stop showing off to him all the time and to enter into an interpersonal relationship, rather than a relationship of convenience or necessity.

Sherlock grew dependent on John over the course of their relationship. To the point that living in a world in which John Watson is dead was considered unacceptable. This is what allowed Sherlock to take the jump from St. Bart's Rooftop. Being the walking-dead away from John, knowing that he's alive was better than to live in a world where John Watson no longer existed.

Gregory Lestrade respects him and puts up with him because "Sherlock Holmes is a great man. And I think one day - if we're very, very lucky - he might even be a good one." Sherlock respects him and views him at least partly as a father figure. It can be inferred that Lestrade was well aware of Sherlock's previous drug use and probably helped him with his recovery at different points in time. Even with all of that, it is unlikely that Sherlock would ever willingly admit to anyone how much Lestrade has meant to him over the years.

Even with that, he was able to name Lestrade as a friend to Moriarty during their 'final showdown.' And while it came after Mrs Hudson, it was before Molly or even Mycroft - who both remained nameless. That speaks to how he truly views Lestrade, even if he has a funny way of showing it all the other times (never getting the man's first name correct, for example.). One of the things that allowed Sherlock to remain so calm about his arrest the night before he jumped was that Lestrade was there. If it had been any other officer arresting Sherlock, that night would have gone differently. Sherlock trusts Lestrade enough to allow himself to be vulnerable in a way that he can't be with John.

Mycroft asks us: "He has the brain of a scientist or a philosopher, yet he elects to be a detective. What might we deduce about his heart?" Mycroft further states: "It would take Sherlock Holmes to fool me." - This line offers us a glimpse to the kind of relationship the brothers have. It shows that on the one hand Mycroft doesn't really understand his brother at all and on the other that he knows him very well. Given the seven-year age difference, I believe that Mycroft helped to raise Sherlock and it is a difficult dynamic to try to be both brother and parent. It is a dynamic that Mycroft doesn't navigate well. Sherlock rebels because even when he needs a brother, Mycroft still holds that parental position in Sherlock's life.

The Brothers fight and argue. But, most of that is because that is how they're used to dealing with each other. If one were to ever express to the other how much they actually do care, their entire dynamic changes. During the Christmas scene in "His Last Vow", Mycroft tells Sherlock that to lose his brother would break his heart and Sherlock responds by saying, "What the hell am I supposed to say to that?" For as much as Sherlock seems to like chaos everywhere else, he needs some stability in his life. The relationship with Mycroft provides that. It is clear that Mycroft has always cared deeply for Sherlock. Sherlock holds resentment because he views it as Mycroft trying to control him. But, when he needs something he has no problem 'negotiating' with his brother to get what he wants - especially if it involves solving a case.

Moriarty was Sherlock's arch-nemesis. As far as Sherlock knows, Jim Moriarty is dead. Sherlock found entertainment from Moriarty in the sense that he offered many puzzles for Sherlock to solve. Sherlock is a different man when he is around Moriarty. At once, he has an exceptionally calm exterior, however, inside he is never more worried, agitated and excited as he is when around Jim.

Sherlock sees Jim not only as someone as intelligent as he is, but someone who is exceptionally dangerous. Jim Moriarty is not to be trusted. In the past when Sherlock has been delusional with fear, the image of Jim Moriarty is what he saw (This happened both with the HOUND drug and when he had been shot in "His Last Vow.").

While the world is better off without Jim in it, I think a part of Sherlock was shocked that he chose to blow his brains out. Sherlock thought they were very similar: valuing the mind, the puzzles, out-witting each other. Moriarty destroying his brain in such a permanent way is an insult in Sherlock's mind.

Sherlock is easily bored - and finds most people dull. When he's bored, he finds ways of entertaining himself - this usually involves throwing some form of temper-tantrum - like shooting at a wall in his flat. He is an expert fighter in many forms.

He is a bit obsessive-compulsive - especially about his looks, though you might question it by looking at his flat. His experiments and other things all find ways out of their designated areas and infiltrate every aspect of Sherlock and John’s lives. (Much like Sherlock himself, when people get close.)

He is prone to talking to himself and sometimes loses track of time. Usually this is attributed to time spent in his Mind Palace.

Sherlock has weaknesses. He cares for people more than he will ever admit - threatening to harm those he cares about gets him sentimental - he's been known to nearly kill others for only frightening and bruising those he is loyal to. When he is sentimental, he doesn't think things through, so he makes mistakes. Although he has every reason to be arrogant, he will risk his life to prove he is right.

When Sherlock returned, he was overly chipper. It seemed he wanted to pick up and continue things where he left off, as if he hadn't been gone for two years, but he wasn't quite sure how to make that happen. By the end of "The Empty Hearse" it's clear that had all been an act and he had settled back into the stoic man as we know him.

During "Sign of Three" we saw Sherlock between the extremes of 'acting' in his role as Best Man, to care and concern when Mary and John called him out that he didn't care about puzzles, he cared about what's dramatic. Sherlock can't argue with it but to say, "John's a drama-queen too." We also learned that Sherlock loves to dance and even taught John how to waltz for the wedding.

During "His Last Vow" we learned a great deal about the lengths Sherlock would go for a case: Using drugs again, proposing to a girlfriend (having a girlfriend), daring to take that one step. But we also learned the conviction he held for John - John was the reason he fought to stay alive. Also, we learned just how seriously he took the vow he made to Mary and John at their wedding.

Sherlock is much more willing to kill now. It seemed to come easy to him - a first choice rather than a last resort. And his claim of being a "High-functioning sociopath" may be something he actually believes to be true now. Though, that hasn't been explored as much in this series and it might take another series to know for sure where the show is headed with that change.

    Personality:

    "please... make me hurt you."

Born the daughter of a prominent Noxian general, Katarina grew up in a prestigious noble family, surrounded by luxuries that many young girls can only dream about. Unlike most little girls raised in the aristocracy, however, Katarina's interests veered more towards her father's knives and military tactics, raising more than a few brows. While a woman warrior was far from unheard of in Noxian society, most often relied on poisons and seduction as their weapons of choice. Katarina's early preference for the knives and daggers of an assassin was unusual, but her father recognized her talents and began to hone them, creating a rigorous training schedule for his eldest daughter and enlisting the help of the finest assassins Noxus could offer, with himself trumping them all in terms of skill. It wasn't long before Katarina became an accomplished fighter, her own natural talents imbued by the knowledge imparted by her mentors.

Katarina's first mission wasn't so much given to her as it was demanded by her, which gives insight to one of her more prominent personality traits: Katarina is a very decisive, aggressive individual, one who does what she wants on her own terms. This isn't to say she's willfully insubordinate; her love for Noxus is what keeps her a terrifying force to be reckoned with, and if given orders that she deems worthy by a superior, she will carry them out without question.

Her first mission was simple, meant simply to whet her appetite: she was to assassinate a low-ranking Demacian officer, quickly, efficiently, and discreetly. To the highly skilled Katarina, this was a cakewalk; on her way to carry out her task, however, she found that a Demacian general had arrived at the camp her target was stationed. Ever the opportunist, Katarina seized these favorable circumstances and easily killed the sentries stationed outside of his tent before eventually slitting his throat, quickly leaving the camp aglow with her greater victory.

She would soon learn, however, that there was a price to pay when it came to putting all aside for her own ambitions.

The next day, Katarina's initial mark, the seemingly low-ranking officer, staged an ambush against nearby Noxian forces, catching them completely unawares. While the skirmish ultimately ended in a Demacian defeat, the Noxian force suffered heavy casualties, sending Katarina flying into a rage at her own idiocy. It was this rage that sustained her as she made her way to the Demacian officer's (now heavily-guarded) tent once more, all pretense of stealth thrown to the wind as she caused a bloodbath of the ages, killing each of the myriad guards surrounding the officer before placing a well-aimed dagger between the eyes of the officer, finally carrying out her task. While mostly unscathed, the battle left Katarina's left eye marred by a long, thin scar that extended from above her brow to the midpoint of her cheek.

Katarina is a brash, willful, and quick-witted young woman with an unmatched skillset and an even more unmatched bloodlust. She is extremely family-driven, doing everything in her power to elevate her family's (admittedly already high) standing within Noxian society, performing feats of strength and glory on the fields of combat even in the face of her father's disappearance. Her exploits earned her the title of "Sinister Blade," her name striking fear into the hearts of enemy soldiers across Valoran. While she had initially been driven solely by her passions and own interests, her misstep when it came to her first mission taught her to never allow her own ambitions to get in the way of her greater duty to that of Noxus and to her family.

Katarina is highly adaptable to shifting situations, though she prefers to wait in the shadows for the opportune moment to strike her opponent down once and for all. This personality trait is evident in her fighting style, as she is a very effective champion when it comes to cleaning up the battlefield, picking off her weakened foes before dashing to safety. She is highly opportunistic with a strong drive to finish whatever she starts.

When it comes to personal relationships, not much is seen of the Du Couteau family; while it's assumed that Katarina and her father were close, not much is said of her relationship to her younger sister, Cassiopeia. Considering the fervor with which Katarina pursues the elevation of her family's standing, however, one can easily come to the conclusion that their relationship is fairly typical in spite of their vastly differing interests. Katarina also sees Talon, a young man who had been taken in by her father from a life off of the streets, as a younger brother, so while she may come across as exceedingly prickly to some, there is clearly a warmth within her hidden to everyone but those she's close to.

It's just the "getting close to her" part that's difficult.

As she ascended the ranks of the Noxian military, Katarina soon proved herself to be a skilled speaker and negotiator, rallying her units and speaking and acting on behalf of Noxus during several diplomatic delegations on both foreign and home soils. While her interpersonal relationships may suffer due to her thorny countenance, she is a respected leader, one whose abilities are backed up by her exploits on the battlefield.

If Katarina speaks with a touch of haughtiness, it's only because she's earned it; she revels in battle and is damn good at it, and while she's capable of diplomacy when necessary, she is a firm proponent of violence solving most everything. She'd much rather let her blades do the talking rather than her words, and her love for her country trumps all else.

    Abilities/Powers:

Voracity: Killing an enemy fills Katarina with adrenaline, replenishing her energy reserves and allowing her to act immediately after striking an opponent down.
Bouncing Blades: Katarina throws a dagger that ricochets and can hit up to five targets, with each subsequent bounce dealing less damage than the initial hit.
Sinister Steel: Katarina whirls her daggers, dealing damage in a radius around her.
Shunpo: Katarina is able to seemingly teleport short distances to her target, dealing damage to hostile units.
Death Lotus: Katarina spins on her heels, throwing a barrage of daggers and greatly hindering her opponent's ability to heal for a short duration.
Aside from this, Katarina is extremely quick on her feet, though if an enemy manages to catch her, she has no real way to defend herself. Her fighting style involves a lot of nuance and waiting for the opportune moment to strike her enemies down, and while her offensive abilities are unmatched, her defenses are extremely low.

    Items/Weapons:

Sample Entry: Test drive meme and A Dear Mun post.
Sample Entry Two: The first breath Katarina took upon awakening was sharp and abrupt, her eyes snapping open as she rolled out of the bunkbed she was in. Her surroundings were unfamiliar to her, and her mind immediately jumped to the possibility of some wet-behind-the-ears Summoner calling her to some previously unknown Field of Justice. Whirling on her heels, her hands instinctively closed around the hilts of her blades, drawing them as she examined her surroundings. As she opened her mouth to demand answers from her supposed Summoner, however, she caught sight of a gigantic billboard outside, plastered with the ominous image of a couple wearing gas masks.

Katarina quirked a brow. Something told her that even if she were to speak aloud, she wouldn't get the answers she sought. This was no Field of Justice; according to the billboard, she was in a town called Haven. And in Haven, they would all be safe... Together. Obviously there was a distinct possibility that Katarina wasn't alone in her foreign environs.

The sight only made her grip on her blades tighten as she tested them, swinging them in a small arc before her. She was grateful that her muscles seemed to be in working order, as her mind was drawing a complete blank when it came to how she had come to be in this place. Just as Katarina was about to examine the unfamiliar room further, a small movement caught her eye from the bed directly across from hers.

She wasn't sure how she hadn't noticed before, but there appeared to be someone appeared to be asleep in the bottom bunk. In an instant, she strode over to the bed's occupant, grabbing ahold of their hair and pressing the edge of her blade to their exposed neck. It wasn't the most subtle or cordial way of intelligence gathering, but Cassiopeia had always been the more refined du Couteau daughter when it came to the art of subtle espionage. While Katarina knew that the sleeping individual could very well be the same boat as she was, she knew she couldn't take any chances.

"I have three questions," she growled under her breath. "The first: where the hell am I? The second: who the hell are you and how did we come to be here? You have approximately ten seconds to convince me not to slit your throat. I hope you make a very compelling argument as to why I shouldn't."

    Personality:

James Barnes, (or Bucky, as he prefers to be known as) is the kind of guy you'd want at your lunch table. He's easygoing, has a good sense of humor, and a way with the ladies. He is intensely loyal to his friends: he'll step up to bat for them, and he'll take good care of his people when they're hurt or in trouble. Especially if they happen to be one Steve Rogers. Steve is his best friend, and Bucky would - and did - follow him into the jaws of death without question or hesitation.

As the oldest of four children growing up during the Great Depression, and as the only son of Irish immigrant parents, Bucky had to deal with a lot from a young age. He learnt to shoulder responsibility, smooth-talk his way into jobs he was too young for, and make a little go a long way in order to survive. He had to make himself useful to people, preferably long-term, because being indispensable meant having a job, and having money to support his folks.

Yet, he doesn't treat his relationships in a purely ornamental manner. Bucky genuinely cares about all people, not just his own. During a time of hardship for many, kindness was a way to survive as well. He fears not being needed, and specifically, not being needed by Steve. He doesn't foresee pre-serum Steve getting any less prone to illness or fighting, and thus didn't consider it a big issue because he never expected circumstances to change as suddenly and drastically as they did after Pearl Harbor. During the course of the first film he barely copes with the fact that his worst fear has just become real.

Being Irish in his day and age wasn't fun and games: Bucky has a strong sense of justice and dislikes bullies just as much as Steve does. He's far more likely to participate in a fight than he is to drag Steve out of it. This attitude changes when World War Two comes along and Steve's desperate to enlist. Hitler's a bully by both their definitions, but this is no longer something Steve can do with an ad hoc shield, and it'll hurt them a lot worse than bruises. Bucky chides Steve for wanting to enlist, in a tone that suggests they've argued about it before, and vehemently. Bucky doesn't like the idea of going into a situation neither of them can fully understand or control, and more than that, he doesn't like being in a fight where the odds of survival are so slim. Despite his misgivings, he still goes to Europe in 1943, not wanting to disappoint Steve by staying home.

Growing up on Brooklyn's streets made Bucky tough: any kind of weakness made one a target, or worse, a burden to be left behind. He's tenacious and driven in almost all aspects of his life, and a very difficult man to rattle. The war changes some of that. The army gives Bucky the physical tools for soldiering, without any emotional or spiritual support to cope with the life. He's making life or death decisions for his enemies within split-seconds, and his actions more directly and drastically impact his men. Hesitation or failure cost lives, and that takes a toll on his psyche. Like most snipers, he is calm under pressure and able to take the shot, but when he's off duty, he appears dishevelled, exhausted, and lost, exhibiting symptoms of depression and post-traumatic stress. War hasn't made him tougher, it's made him harder. He is less likely to extend compassion, his efficiency and ruthlessness is honed more sharply, and above all, he takes to soldiering like a duck to water.

Bucky is a situational chameleon, so much so he can almost seem like a completely different person depending on which circumstances you meet him under. He's people-smart and usually adjusts himself as he sees fit. In a bar, he'll be brash and outgoing. With a woman, he'll be polite and charming. On a battlefield, he's focused and quiet. This particular facet of his personality saves his life during his imprisonment in a Hydra facility. He is the only survivor of what's implied to be brutal experimentation by Arnim Zola. He didn't break under torture, but like all his wartime experiences, it left him irrevocably changed.

What affected him the worst, however, wasn't anything the Germans did. Steve was suddenly 6'2" and built like a tank. While Bucky is happy for Steve, it's difficult for him to adjust to Steve's new status. All of a sudden Steve is the one getting the attention from others (and especially from women), he's the one leading the missions and taking care of the men - Bucky feels he's becoming an afterthought in the eyes of the world. Protecting Steve was - and remains - a large part of Bucky's identity, and he doesn't react well to having this foundation shaken up so soon after a traumatic imprisonment. He never voices his inner emotional conflict, hiding his discomfort and envy with quips and thin smiles. However, it surfaces when he and Steve attack Zola's train. When Steve is down, Bucky, instead of dragging them both towards cover, picks up Steve's shield and advances on the Hydra agent, eager for vengeance and to prove he doesn't need Steve to take care of him. This nearly costs him his life.

Bucky has a play the hand you're dealt no matter how bad it is attitude. He's not one to complain about hardship, he wouldn't abide by others seeing him as someone to worry about, or worse, pity. He'd much rather make a quip and keep his chin up rather than directly face his emotions. Under ordinary circumstances he'd have been able to cope with sharing Steve, and take great joy in the fact that everyone's now seeing what Bucky always saw: Steve's heart. In the war it's just one more thing with his life that's going horribly wrong, but he would never wish away all the accolades and attention Steve has, because if anyone deserves them, it's Steve Rogers.

Bucky embodies loyalty, kindness, and tenacity. He liked being an ordinary guy who was king of his little corner of the world, content with his dreams, but when circumstances asked him to be more, he rose to it, with no second thoughts or regret.

Abilities/Powers: Bucky is a garden variety human being at the physical peak for someone his age. He's an athlete; he has all the skills of someone who's been through military and survival training as well as the specialised program for snipers. He is an excellent boxer, and marksman. His left arm is non-removable, made of an unknown metal. It's shown to recalibrate itself automatically to varying levels of strength. Since it neither dents Steve's shield nor is shown to be physically damaged by it, it's likely the arm is made of vibranium, but we have no canon confirmation. The extensive scarring where it's attached to his body also makes it likely that bones and muscle groups in his left shoulder and upper back have either been reinforced or replaced to support its weight. The inside of the arm consists primarily of tech designed for flexibility and strength, and to alert him to damage.

Events in the second movie by and large confirm that he has been exposed to a variant of the super-soldier serum, which enhanced his strength, speed, endurance, and healing factor. I estimate it is approximately half of Steve's.

    Character Name: Nikola Tesla
    Canon: Sanctuary
Canon Point: End of series (Season 4)
    Background/History: http://sanctuary.wikia.com/wiki/Nikola_Tesla

Personality: Tesla in "Sanctuary" is moderately different from the historical one. By which I mean he is entirely different. The real Tesla was reserved, and shy. This version of Nikola Tesla is flamboyant and theatrical, punctuating his words with gestures and a vastly confident manner.

There is a certain amount of humour and sarcasm that goes with it, as well. Tesla is a supreme believer in the power of intelligence, and it is the only quantity he respects. People who do not thing, or unintelligence is rewarded with disdain. As a result, he has a rather sarcastic nature with those he perceives to be below his necessary level. This is attached to a sense of humour that is more than willing to use a witty remark to verbally cut into an opponent.

He is a man who has lived a very long time. He has seen the ebb and flow of history and it brings the altruism that is inherent to the nature of any version of Nikola Tesla into conflict with a growing sense of pessimism. After a long life, Tesla is soured on humanity - he expected better, demanded better, and humanity has let him down.

This means that in some cases, Tesla is very willing to act towards the 'greater good' and do ethically questionable things. Though the positive influence of good people he respects (in canon, this would be Helen Magnus) pushes him back towards more positive contributions.

There is also a flirtatious side to his nature. Intelligence being so critical, a woman displaying it is automatically attractive in his book, and the flirtation will run rampant from start to finish. While he is more than capable of being dedicated to one person (he's had feelings for Helen Magnus since the 1890s.), the flirtation may make it seem otherwise.

Overall, Tesla's personality is dynamic and often bombastic. But he means well, and creation is his default state. He makes, builds, and creates. By this point, it is likely he cannot stop. He contributes, and believes others should rise to his level. Even if he doesn't say so, even if he is horrendously sarcastic to them - he expects the best of people. And then demands it.

Abilities/Powers: Originally, Tesla was precisely what he was, historically: a technological genius and inventor. But after exposure to the Source blood (vampiric blood), he acquired a bevy of vampiric powers. He is now essentially immortal, his cells continually renewed. He also had a natural aptitude for electricity pumped up to the point where Tesla can manipulate electricity. This includes being able to generate a personal force field (that he can extend to others in a limited range) and manipulating data on a corrupted hard drive. In addition to his ability to absorb/project electricity, he also can recover swiftly from heavy injuries such as bullet wounds and can survive at least indirect explosions. (Decapitation probably still works, though.) He also has some degree of ability to manipulate his own personal magnetism. More limited than, say, a Magneto, but he can move metal objects. Lastly, vampirism comes with increased speed, strength, the usual teeth and claws - though the bloodlust is very thoroughly under control.

Items/Weapons: A decent selection of suits, toolbox, random assortment of electrical components/wiring.

Sample Entry: [He almost threw himself into a chair like a cat, landing in a languid pose with a strange sort of ease.]

You know, the worst part - and there are so many worst parts - to being here? The decor. Honestly, what is this, Warsaw circa 1945? Who decided this fresh hell was something I deserved to have happen to me?

[He sighed, hands tapping on the arms of his chair. Then he threw himself up again, hands folding behind his back, one tapping against the other.]

I'm Nikola Tesla. Do you understand what that means? Nikola Tesla. Inventor of the modern age? Might have heard of me, junior. And here I am, stuck in whatever fresh hell this is. It's so...bad sci-fi.

[He pulled at his vest idly, smoothing the fabric.]

Well, there's nothing for it. I've got things - and possibly people - to disassemble, then electrify. Possibly not in that order.

    Nobody hijacks Nikola Tesla.

    Sample Entry Two:

He sat at a bench, and worked. It was the finest moment to him, the one acme of peace in his existence. Here, he could most thoroughly be himself. He picked up another component, turning it in his hands. Ah, it would do. It would do very well. He placed it down, lifting a hand. His screwdriver flew into his hand, and he smiled, speaking to himself.

    "Still got it."

He went to work again, his mind at peace. Or, really, as at peace as he ever was. Inside his mind, ideas swirled. Thoughts rose and fell, dismissed as impractical, or useless. He worked almost on auto pilot, hands moving, connecting wires and circuitry.

He reached out, picking up a circuit board, laying his fingers upon it. He closed his eyes. He felt the patterns in the board, and concentrated. Bit by bit, he kept track in his head, the numbers shifting. He manipulated the programming, mind ticking like a metronome to make it work.

Satisfied, he placed it down, connected the last part. Then he flipped the very deliberately old fashioned switch. And he leaned back, a smile spreading across every inch of his face at the resultant hum.

    C-sharp. Absolutely perfect.

    Personality:

To begin with, it's necessary to summarise Joseph's character from the previous part - Part 2: Battle Tendency. Joseph was the main protagonist of Battle Tendency and we get an account of him at the age of 18.

We see that Joseph at age 18 is hot headed and doesn't think too much about what he says before it leaves his mouth. And he has quite the mouth on him - insulting and sassing friends, foes and everyone in between. He's quick witted and sharp tongued, always having something to say no matter what the situation is. But he also has a sense of humour. Joseph is also good at bluffing, and usually these bluffs play well for him. Except when they don't, and he's got a month to live after being "engaged" to two super-human beings.

He's able to scheme very quickly, able to look at his situation and find a way to either win or get out of it quickly. Even when the odds are against him, he shows the Joestar spirit of being able to beat them. However, unlike his grandfather Jonathan, Joseph is not above playing dirty (to a degree) to get a head up, but not to the point where it disrespects his opponent. He is the king of improvisation with his weapons ranging from hair, a coke bottle top, string from his scarf and his trademark Clackers.

His record for snap decisions means that Joseph is also deeply reckless, showing no qualms about throwing himself into a situation despite the odds against him. He occasionally also has some very dumb ideas - such as trying to sneak into a heavily fortified German army base in the Mexican desert by dressing in drag and offering the guards on duty tequila. (Just for the record, it didn't work.) He marries Suzie Q after surviving a life or death incident at the end of Part 2 because she treated his wounds and why not and partially because she called him cute after he got his breathing mask taken off. But it's this combination of recklessness and quick wit that gets him into tough situations. It also gets him out of it and allows him to be a versatile fighter, even though it does take his toll on him.

Joseph usually hates putting effort into things and likes to take life easy. As such, he is also the kind of person who has a loose understanding of what it is to follow rules. He does many things that get him into trouble and doesn't mind asking for help, but also he doesn't expect it to pull his ass out of trouble.

Despite this, Joseph is also an honourable kind of person. The person he fears most is his Nanna Erina, who he reveres and respects to the point that when his shirt that was a gift from her got stained during a plane crash, he was more concerned about what Nanna Erina would say rather than the plane crashing. He later learns to fear and revere Lisa Lisa in the same manner, and that is before he knew she was his mother.

He respects people for being people, as he was very friendly toward Smokey Brown and defended him against both the police and a racist man in a restaurant despite Smokey first attempting to steal his wallet when they met. He's also able to assess people relatively quickly as to whether they're threats, friendly or whatever else. Joseph has respect for those who follow a code of honour or way of the warrior, as is the case when he recognises that Wammu did not leave Caesar's blood bubble with his piercing intact out of pity, but rather for the fact that Caesar fought with honour. He offers Wammu the same sort of honour on his demise. It's very clear that Joseph has a set of morals, and he believes in doing the right thing in the end - even if his ways of getting there are unusual.

Joseph in Part 3 at the age of 67 largely retains the same qualities, yet as time went on he became more responsible and becomes more of a leader. His cleverness allowed him to become a big shot New York realtor, which is a business loaded with assessing risks and making decisions. He still occasionally makes horrible decisions due to his impulsive, such as cheating on Suzie Q with Tomoko Higashikata and telling Avdol to get Jotaro out of his cell at the beginning of Part 3 by whatever means necessary.

He's acutely aware of all the people that allowed him to live a comfortable life. The fact he's allowed his grandmother, uncle and mother to live nice long lives gives him great comfort in his old age that he broke the "Joestar curse" that took his grandfather and father early in life. He loves his daughter more than anything and will do anything to make sure he's okay, which is why he still lets her act like a teenage daddy's girl around him despite being 45 years old. Joseph is upset that a Japanese man stole his daughter away and holds some prejudices against the Japanese for this reason - though this largely melts away as Part 3 progresses.

This is why when his life and the life of his family is threatened by the presence of DIO, Joseph is the one who takes the initiative to stop him and rounds up the rest of the team. It is very clear that the death of Caesar Zeppeli leaves a lasting impact on him even in his old age, because when Joseph accidentally touched a nerve regarding family - Caesar walked into his death against Wammu. Family means a lot more to Joseph and he recognises the need to surround yourself with good people to fight against the odds. He recognises that danger plagues his family and he is very much willing to traverse the earth to protect them. He's not interested in keeping the threat at bay, he wants to destroy it completely - which is why he was reluctant to let other people get involved with what was a Joestar problem. Yet Joseph is someone who understand the convictions hold and know that sometimes, you just gotta let them go on a dangerous journey with you.

In the great road trip that is Stardust Crusaders, Joseph takes the position of Team Dad. He's in charge of collecting knowledge and advancing their journey, taking the job of planning and logistics with Avdol. He is very careful to try and avoid the assault of Dio's followers and other Stand users. Yet he doesn't coddle the members of his team, because he recognises that all of them have made the decision to come with him to Egypt. Joseph now wants to have more of the upper hand against his opponents through planning, which is something he picked up from an old friend. This shows on a number of occasions, but most prominently where he holds off on killing Enya Gail so that he could get information on what Dio's Stand actually was - and appealing to her to tell him when she was the verge of dying.

Yet despite his forward planning and position of experience, he is still one of the hot headed members of the group alongside Polnareff. Not to mention he still has the greatest ability to bullshit in the entire group.

Pictured above: Joseph "knows how to ride a camel because he watched lawrence of arabia three times" Joestar

Joseph's relationship with his grandson is rather rocky at the beginning of Part 3. Jotaro has a perpetual attitude problem and Joseph is not happy with his grandson disrespecting his mother every day and making her worry. However, they start to gain a mutual understanding and respect when they both decide to work together to save Holly's life. As the series progresses, they gain a mutual respect and understanding of each other's skills and strengths. When The Lovers enters Joseph's brain and whatever damage is done to Steely Dan is mirrored on Joseph, Jotaro follows and keeps tabs on Steely Dan to make sure he doesn't do anything funny to hurt his grandfather more. Jotaro does a number of humiliating things to make sure Joseph stays safe, buying Joseph, Kakyoin and Polnareff time to find a solution.

With regards to Avdol, Kakyoin and Polnareff - he treats them all as comrades in arms and trusts them with his life. Avdol and Joseph were first united under the common threat of Dio and it was Avdol who told him about Stands and how to cure Holly in the first place. Joseph was the one who made arrangements to make sure Avdol recovered in peace, as he recognises that the group needs his skills and knowledge. Though Kakyoin and Polnareff were directly under DIO's influence through the flesh bud that he had implanted in them, he gave them the chance to join them to redeem themselves for attacking the group initially. He treats everyone as equals and is just the cool dad like that.

At the end of the day, what he wants to see the most is DIO eliminated. He undertakes the journey that he does, with all the risks it entails to ensure that his family has a future to look forward to. As someone who has seen too many lives taken before their time, it is of paramount importance that he completes his journey. He's lived a full life and wants to make sure others that he cares about can do the same.

    Abilities/Powers:
    - Ripple Technique
A power that he keeps from Part 2 - Joseph is proficient in the use of the Ripple. Ripple users are rare - Joseph's father was unable to use the Ripple, but his mother and Joseph himself are able to use it.

It is an ancient martial art that utilises an energy similar to that of the sun that is controlled through breathing. It is very similar to the real life Chinese concept of Qi.

Conductivity is one of the key concepts of the Ripple, and most of its attacks/uses are based around increasing or decreasing Ripple conductivity as needed. In perhaps what is the most famous example, Will A Zeppeli in Part 1: Phantom Blood punched a frog sitting on a rock to a horrified Jonathan Joestar and Erina Pendleton. Through the power of the Ripple, Zeppeli was able to conduct the Ripple through the frog leaving it unharmed but completely decimating the rock underneath.

Because the Ripple is essentially a form of energy, its uses are varied. Ripple users can use the tension between Ripple energy and an object to scale walls, walk on water etc. One of Lisa Lisa's famous trials was the "Hell Climb Pillar", a room where one had to scale a massive pillar using only the Ripple while everything was drenched in oil. Ripple energy can also be used defensively to repel harmful objects or heal bodies.

Most objects can be infused with the Ripple, leading to the variety of things that people have used to channel it (bubbles, clackers, scarfs, wine etc). Ripple users can control the bodies of living beings by using the Ripple by physical contact - Joseph controlled a pigeon through the use of the Ripple while Caesar used it to control the movements of a woman in the same fight.

Ripple energy cannot harm its user meaning it cannot be used against itself, so it can be conducted around the user's body freely. It is one of the few effective methods of dealing with Zombies/Vampires in Jojo's Bizarre Adventures. In Part 3, Joseph uses the Ripple to dissolve the flesh buds that DIO uses to control people.

In his youth, Joseph often infused objects with Ripple energy with his special attack being Ripple infused Clackers. He often would use string to create traps around his enemies and use it to conduct the Ripple through.

Joseph largely forgoes infusing objects with the Ripple in his old age and instead opts to infuse his punches, elbow strikes and chops to deal damage.

    - Stand, Hermit Purple
As part of Dio coming into contact into the Stand producing arrow with Jonathan Joestar's body, a manifestation of Joseph's spirit now appears to "stand" by him in combat. The concept of Stands is several decades in the making so a full explanation of Stands and its rules are on the JoJo Wikia. However, the general idea is that a Stand is an image based in energy similar to the Ripple, but each Stand is different and has different abilities according to the spirit of the user. It is only visible to other Stand users, but their effects are felt in the area - for example, Magician's Red can generate flames that aren't visible but the surrounding area feels hot. A Stand is controlled by the fighting spirit of its user, so those who do not have the sufficient spirit to do so can suffer negative effects and can die from the Stand consuming the body of its user.

Joseph's stand is Hermit Purple, representing The Hermit in the tarot major arcana. It manifests as purple thorns curling around his arms. Here is a picture of how it looks!

Hermit Purple is a defensive orientated stand. It is able to conduct the Ripple, allowing Joseph to use his Ripple techniques in conjunction with it. In combat, it is able to wrap around other Stands in a limited area to deal damage with its thorns. Joseph is seen using it as a grappling hook to swing between locations, allowing him to use his Secret Technique better. In the fighting game All Star Battle, Hermit Purple's strength is enough to toss weighty objects towards foes.

The strengths of Hermit Purple comes from that it gives Joseph considerable psychic/precognitive powers. By destroying a camera, Joseph can generate Psychic Photographs which can reveal the location of the intended target and what they are doing in that moment.

Hermit Purple becomes more versatile when in contact with a TV or any device with a screen. By quickly changing channels, Hermit Purple can create an audible message of what Joseph wants to know. It can also read people's minds when connected to a TV. If Joseph concentrates, he can have a live video feed into a location or object or person using a TV - this was the case when The Lovers stand entered his brain and planted one of Dio's flesh buds deep in it. Hermit Purple allowed him to broadcast where The Lovers was in his brain so that Kakyoin and Polnareff could see exactly what they were doing.

Other uses include being able to make maps capable of tracking moving subjects and objects of interest. Joseph uses Hermit Purple to create a map of the local area using dust in one notable incident in trying to fight The Empress. It allowed him to find a barrel of coal tar that allowed him to immobilise the Stand and gave him the heads up.

In game, Joseph will probably only be able to see characters in Haven. He won't be able to see characters from their own worlds or his own, as his stand isn't that powerful. (though there are other stands that are capable of such) Since Hermit Purple's rooted in the present and near future, he won't be able to see anyone in past points in time either.

Joseph would probably able to use the cellphone screen to project images using Hermit Purple, though he would not be able to send it to the network.

His maps using sand or dust would be able to circumvent the ban on writing as they are purely pictorial in nature, but if any of this is problematic, I'll happily change it.

    - Prosthetic Hand
Having lost his hand in the final battle against Kars, Joseph now has a prosthetic hand made of metal. Thanks to the superior quality of the German medicine that manufactured it, it moves and works just like a real hand would. He wears vambraces and gloves near constantly to hide it. It can conduct the Ripple but Joseph is shown favouring his other (non-prosthetic) hand to generate it. A running gag in the series is that it constantly gets battered yet reappears whole without any question.

    - Joestar blood
In the wider scheme of things, Joseph is a member of the Joestar family. This is indicated by the star shaped birthmark on his back, near his neck. Anything that affects the Joestar family line as a whole, will also affect him. The reason why he has a Stand in the first place is because Dio, while fused with Jonathan Joestar's body received a Stand. All of Jonathan's descendants were also granted the ability to use a Stand as a result.

    - Secret Technique
A Joestar family technique that is normally utilised as a last resort - Joseph has used this a number of times throughout his life and is a master at it. It usually gives him enough time to formulate a plan and catch his breath. Using this technique can usually give him the upper hand.

(This secret technique is known as running away as fast as you can.)

    - Built as fuck
Possibly due to the side effect of the Ripple, but despite being in his sixties during the time of Stardust Crusaders, Joseph is still able to fight and has the endurance of someone of a much younger age. He is still pretty athletic, showing that he can run on minimum sleep and still kick ass. He is able to take blows with no problem, he can still run long distances and do things that most sixty year olds can't. His punches, elbow drops and kicks hurt and can cause considerable damage.

    - Posing
Everyone in this series has the ability to pose ridiculously, even while doing seemingly mundane things like have a conversation in a cafe. In his old age, he can still pose like the rest of them and isn't being beaten by anybody younger than him in this posing game.

    Items/Weapons:
    - One 30000 Yen Polaroid Camera
    - A folding photo frame with two photos - Joseph, Suzie Q, Holly and Jotaro in one and Lisa Lisa, Speedwagon, Erina and a younger Joseph and Suzie Q in the other.
    - His walkman with a cassette tape in it.

    Oho!

[ Joseph finally manages to get the device working and the serious face that he was holding turns into a small smile. He taps the screen just once more to make sure it's broadcasting properly, then clears his throat. ]

My name's Joseph Joestar and I need to get out of here!

[ The levity of what he was saying contrasted with his features, which turned serious once again. ]

    This is a serious plea.

[ He pauses. It's very clear that it's difficult for Joseph to express this so publicly. ]

My daughter is very sick. She could die unless I...

[ Joseph bites his lip and looks away, like he's hesitating to explain his daughter's conditions who don't understand. It's his problem, nobody else's. He doesn't want to drag anyone else into it. ]

Well, there's only one cure for a disease as rare as hers and we have 50 days to get it back to her. It's found in Egypt and I was on a quest to get it with my grandson and our friends. We ran into a few troubles along the way [ okay this is a gross underestimation considering the roundabout way they took to get to egypt, thanks dio ] and we were close to Egypt. But now --

[ One of his hands clenches into a fist and he gestures around his area with his free one. ]

I'm here. Not helping my daughter. My wife is going to be worried if I'm gone for too long, because she's going to think I'm slacking off - or worse, cheating on her!

[ He takes a deep breath and tries to calm himself down. But it's not working, because the next moment Joseph is putting his hands to head and looking down. ]

I'm an old man, I don't have much longer but my daughter deserves to live to see her son graduate from high school. Someone... please tell me how to get to Egypt as fast as I can.

[ After a long pause, Joseph says one last sentence. ]

Or at the very least, how to tell my wife I love her.

[ The feed clicks off. ]

    Sample Entry Two:

He's trying not to think about the worst.

Joseph's never really thought about the worst option in a long time. He lived his life outwitting and outdodging everything that life threw at him. Even when Holly started being affected by her stand,

The fact that he can't actually go to Egypt from here is something he doesn't want to consider too deeply. He's desperately trying not to let himself be consumed by the thoughts of the fact that someone he deeply cares for is going to die on his watch if he doesn't get a move on.

"Holly." murmured Joseph as he kicked a stone from the path under him. Just saying her name pained him. He takes off his hat and runs a hand through his hair, sighing heavily. It would put his mind at ease if he could at least call Suzie, and ask her how Holly was. That would put him in a better state of mind.

Wait a minute, what was he talking about?

    He's Joseph Joestar.

He didn't survive this long against a whole host of horrible things by hoping for something to put him in a better state of mind. Joseph grabs the wrist of his prosthetic hand and double checks it is firmly in place.

It still is. It was a subconscious habit he picked up after the whole incident with Kars. The fact that he had the rest of him was due to the acts of some very brave people who relied on him.

    Because he's a Joestar.

    Because he's Jojo.

He adjusts his hat and with a renewed sense of being. There hasn't been a situation he's never escaped from before, why should this one be different?

Personality: Damian is the son of Bruce Wayne/Batman and Talia al Ghul-the daughter to Ra’s al Ghul, head of the League of assassins. As such, he was born into two all encompassing legacies that have a hold on his life before he’s even aware of what they are. Although the canon on how Damian was conceived varies from writer to writer, the facts are that Talia was at one point in love with Bruce, and Bruce was attracted to her on some level as well and that eventually led to the birth of Damian.

From the moment he is born, his destiny has been carefully plotted and laid out for him by his mother, a destiny that is to rival that of Alexander the Great if Talia has her way. He is brought up in the league of assassins away from his father with nothing but stories about him to imagine what he’s like. Although not many specific details are given about Damian’s early years and training, we do know that he doesn’t meet his mother until he reaches the age of 8, and that he is taught to kill at a very young age.

The lack of a parental figure coupled with the harsh training Damian undeniably endured creates a child desperate for approval and affection, something which he has learned is gained through crushing his enemy and doing as his mother commands (even if that instruction is via a third party.) His sense of morality is skewed to fit that of the league of assassins, and there’s no denying that his psyche is severely damaged by learning to and carrying out kills at such a young age. Damian has no concept of unconditional love as his entire childhood, his worth and how much affection Talia chooses to bestow upon him is measured by how successful he is at following her instructions and improving his skills and abilities.

When Damian finally meets Batman it becomes painfully clear that despite his harsh training, his status as eventual heir to the league of assassins and to Batman’s cowl has left him full of himself and spoiled to the bone. When he comes to live with his father, he is a rotten brat who complains about everything from the food to the lack of electronics he is allowed. He throws tantrums and makes demands until Bruce calls him out on his behavior, after which he is cowed and obedient (for a time at least). When it comes to authority figures who he respects, Damian can be the perfect child soldier, listening and doing as he’s told in certain circumstances. As the heir to the league, failure would not have been tolerated. Damian respects fear and shows of discipline which is why Bruce raising his voice has such an effect on him. He hasn’t learned to correct his behavior, only that there is someone of a higher authority who has told him not to do it, and he has to obey or presumably suffer the consequences.

He’s rude, elitest, and incredibly entitled. Damian feels that the status of Robin and eventually Batman is his by birthright. Because of this, Tim Drake’s current status as Robin (and adopted son of Bruce Wayne) infuriates Damian. He resents Tim for taking what should be his, feeling as though Tim is an intruder into the life that he has always been destined to live. When Tim reaches out to him in friendship and appealing to the idea that they could be brothers, Damian uses underhanded tactics to severely injure Tim with the reason that Tim doesn’t deserve any of what he’s been given and that Damian is the rightful heir. He shows no remorse for his actions, leaving Tim to bleed out. As far as Damian is concerned, Tim’s attempt to befriend him is weakness and any similar compassion is the kind of useless emotion that Damian associates with a lack of discipline and cowardice.

Although Damian in undeniably an entitled brat, he’s acting upon what he has been taught by the league about how to handle enemies. Tim was his enemy and therefore he addressed it the way he had been taught. It’s clear that Damian (erringly) believes he is doing right in his eyes and in his father’s. Because his views of how the world works are so skewed, he seems to genuinely believe that by taking Tim out that Bruce will recognize his superiority. It’s also important to note that Damian is completely attention and affection starved and his reasons for wanting to be deemed worthy of the Robin mantle and of Batman’s attention all stem from his desperation to be loved by someone, even if he doesn’t consciously recognize (at this time) that this is what motivates him.

Later when Damian goes out with Batman for the first time, he promises not to fail him, and again the reader can see that success and failure, especially in regards to how Batman sees him-are absolutely vital to Damian’s self-worth. It is how he believes his value will be measured. Although Damian does not stay in Gotham for long, he makes a few appearances in various batfamily issues until finally he returns to stay as a resident of the Wayne household.

Unfortunately just after Damian officially becomes a member of the batfamily, Batman is seemingly killed. In an effort to keep him from returning to the league of assassins and thus in his eyes, failing Bruce’s blood son, Dick Grayson strips the mantle of Robin from Tim Drake and grants it to Damian, a move that further solidifies the now mutual animosity between Tim and Damian.

Under Dick’s instruction as Batman, Damian slowly begins to develop into a healthier and at least somewhat more well adjusted child. He reluctantly begins to respect Dick and eventually to see him as a friend, mentor, and arguably something of a paternal figure. It is in this part of Damian’s life where he begins to question the way Talia raised him, what it is the league stands for, and what his father (and Dick) would want him to become, demonstrating the fact that he cares about their opinions of him. Though he retains a prickly and rude exterior, he shows compassion towards innocents and rage at those willing to hurt and take advantage of them. When Damian comes across the mutilated corpses of several children, he is so shaken up by the gruesome sight that he becomes physically ill, a move that would have seemed highly out of character for the Damian who readers had first been introduced to.

When Talia begins to realize that she is losing her hold on Damian, she makes a move to kill Dick in an effort to win her son’s loyalty back to her, and does so by using Damian’s own body, manipulated by an implant she’d placed in his spine. The attempt is unsuccessful and leads to a confrontation between mother and son that has Damian asking her to love him for who he is, and not for the person she wants him to be. Talia refuses, and when Damian declares that he is going to follow the way of Batman now, she disowns him after showing him the clone she already has on hand to replace him. Although Damian believes she’s in the wrong, he voices the thought that he hopes he will be a worthy enemy for her, a sad notion that shows that even in their state as enemies, he still wants to please his mother in an effort to be thought of as good enough. In spite of everything, Damian does love Talia. As emotionally distant and at times cruel as she was, Damian will probably always love Talia in some form because she is his mother and the first person who claimed to love him.

To deny his mother takes incredible courage and a very strong sense of self. He breaks away from her controlling grasp and the idea that he must constantly jump through hoops to garner any scraps of affection because Dick Grayson has shown him that this is not the way love should work. He does not make the decision lightly though his conviction never falters. Talia is his mother and was the only source of affection he had for so long, despite how sparingly given that affection was. It absolutely hurts him to know that his mother will not love him or accept him unless he follows her orders and becomes who she wants him to be, but his time with Dick has given him the security to know that he has a home and he has a family outside of her.

Along with his sense of compassion, Damian’s sense of right and wrong grows as he begins spending more time around the Batfamily. Upon first entering Gotham, to the shock and horror of Tim and Bruce, Damian finds and beheads one of their enemies, a move that seemed logical and straightforward to him at the time. The action is immediately condemned by Batman and Damian quickly learns that killing targets will never be tolerated under Batman’s rules. He agrees to stick to this code, but he does so out of necessity rather than because he agrees with the sentiment. The longer he spends with Dick (and eventually Bruce) the more Damian’s sense of morality is refined. Although he doesn’t appear to fully reconcile himself to Bruce’s ‘no kill’ policy, he definitely considers killing much less of an option than before, and chooses to abide by it.

Though the majority of his development begins due to Dick’s influence, there are a number of other individuals who help shape Damian’s growing personality. Most notable aside from Dick is Stephanie Brown/Batgirl. Like the others, Stephanie views Damian as an annoying and incredibly rude brat, but in spite of this Stephanie is willing to give Damian chances and eventually comes to accept him and even desires to teach him how to be a child. During a mission that Batgirl and Robin take on together, Stephanie makes the startling (and very telling) realization that upon being placed in a non-threatening environment around children his own age, Damian is at a loss at how to respond. He doesn’t know how to ‘play’ or have fun and in fact he appears lost and out of his comfort zone. Damian’s contact with peers in his life has been minimal at best, and Stephanie decides in that moment to do what she can to teach him what it means to have fun. After the mission is finished she takes him to a bounce house, and even though Damian reacts with apparent indifference at her efforts to do something “fun” he does enjoy himself. Dick is the first person to believe in Damian and to show him unconditional love, but it’s arguable that outside of the familial bond he has with Dick, Stephanie Brown is his first friend.

Along the lines of relationships, it’s worth noting that surprisingly Damian has an easier time getting along with (or in some cases putting up with) children his own age in one on one situations. Colin Wilkes and Nel Little are both examples of this, and though Colin is perhaps an exception being more like Damian considering his vigilante status, it would seem that Damian feels less threatened by his peers and as a result, doesn’t feel as great a need to put up a front when around them. His excess bravado disappears and he isn’t nearly as rude. In general Damian’s behavior towards other heroes and vigilantes is one of superiority and disrespect, but by the time the end of preboot comes around, he appears to have been rather grudgingly accepted by a number of heroes.

Damian is snarky, rude, sarcastic, and uses an air of superiority to hide his own fears of falling short of expectations that he believes will define how others value him. The teachings of the Batfamily and the relationships he develops with them changes him into a former child assassin learning to balance experiencing actual childlike things with his unusual upbringing. He will never truly be a regular child, but he will also never become the hardened assassin and ruthless leader that his mother desired. He fights for Gotham because he still believes it is his destiny, but now that belief is coupled with the genuine desire to help the people of the city.

Abilities/Powers:Damian is a regular human, although modified to be “genetically perfect.” What that means we can only assume is that he contains no innate physical or mental flaws.
-He was trained as an assassin and now trains under both Nightwing and Batman. As such his combat skills are extensive.
-Since working with Batman his skills as a detective/deductive reasoning have improved but he is still nowhere near Batman, Red Robin, or even Nightwing’s level of skill.
-swordsmanship: Damian is skilled with a sword and his preferred sword is a katana
-he has been shown to be proficient at using a bow and arrow
-mimicry: Damian has something of a talent for imitating voices.
-being a pain in the ass: no seriously it’s a skill
-Although we only have canon confirmation of Damian speaking English and Cantonese, it is very likely that at the very least he speaks Arabic as well. His mother Talia would have highly valued his ability to communicate in a multitude of languages, and it’s an ability Batman would have encouraged as well. For the sake of the game I would assume English, Cantonese, Mandarin, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, and Arabic.

    Character Name: Chiaki Nanami
    Canon: (Super) Dangan Ronpa 2
Canon Point: Where in the series are you taking them from?
Background/History: Chiaki and the game overall

Personality: As befits someone known as the Ultimate Gamer, Chiaki Nanami loves video games. In fact, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to assume that she has something of an obsession with them - she'll take any opportunity she can find to play games, even when others might think it not the time to get so distracted. She also tends to become so absorbed in playing them that her sleep patterns are all over the place as a result - she'll often fall asleep standing up and even mid conversation, and even if she doesn't she'll mention being sleepy because she spent all night playing games. In conversation, she'll drop in casual references to games (even ones that a lot of people might not get due to the obscurity/poor quality of the game being referred to) and she also often even dreams of video games. She loves and excels in all games and genres, even the really bad ones, with one exception that she isn't as good at: dating sims.

That might not seem much, but in truth it reflects a lot of both who and what Chiaki is. She specifically notes that the games she's not as good at are those that focus on feelings and relationships, games that require a grasp of something beyond cold logic to master. It's not that Chiaki doesn't like people, she's just not particularly good at talking to them - she often takes a while to respond to people when they address her, even if she's not absorbed in games, and she admits that this is because she needs time to think about and prepare what she's going to say before she says it. Which makes a lot more sense when it's revealed that she's actually a highly-developed AI, capable of passing as an average if quirky human. Which also helps to explain her certain naivety about the world, outside of video games - for example, she doesn't know what Girl's Day is or that milk comes from cows, and her comments about being uneasy around animals because they (like other people) are warm to the touch. Suffice to say there is probably a lot that she doesn't know that she "should" know, for her apparent age and being a high school student - development-wise she comes across rather younger, which is also reflected in the journal she keeps that's discovered in Monomi's missing treasure chest. The writing and drawings, and the language used, speaks far more to someone primary school aged, though in other ways she is startlingly mature.

This doesn't mean she's cold herself or that she doesn't care, however. She's happy to participate in group activities, such as the girls' planned beach visit or when she joins Hajime, Ibuki and Hiyoko in paying tribute to Mahiru. This also makes sense considering what she is and what she was designed to do - as an observer/NPC in the Neo World Program, she was there to help encourage harmony within the group of students and this reflects in how she joins in with the group's plans but always keeps herself a little separate. This shows itself early on, when Byakuya orders the group to gather for a party in an attempt to thwart a murder attempt - Chiaki volunteers to stand guard outside the party building in case Monokuma shows up.

There is one aspect where she becomes a lot more involved, however, where she lets her more serious, capable side show. Like Monomi, Chiaki has a duty to protect the students and she takes this incredibly seriously. As a result, she becomes very determined to ensure that murders don't happen and that no harm befalls them - the clearest example of this is when the group is trapped in the Funhouse with no food; when a starving Hajime decides that he should visit the Final Dead Room in order to find an exit, she stops him and tells him he won't find what he needs in there. When murders do happen, she puts her all to investigating the circumstances so that the survivors (save for the culprit) don't get executed. Like Kirigiri in the first game, Chiaki is often the one who moves trials forward alongside Hajime, raising new points where it seems the discussion is stalling or going in circles, and she's also the one to raise the idea after the first murder that someone should guard the crime scene (because that's what they always do in closed-circle murder games).

Overall, for all that Monokuma refers to her as a 'traitor' for not being a real student, Chiaki's behaviour speaks to the exact opposite - she's not there to hurt or betray the group but to help them, and nothing speaks to her success in that more clearly than when the truth of the matter comes out thanks to Nagito's attempt to set up a murder that couldn't be solved, that would allow the traitor to survive and see the rest of the group killed. None of the other students alive at that point want to believe that Chiaki is the traitor or that Nagito's luck would play out to ensure she ended up as the killer when he didn't even know who the traitor was, meaning that she would be executed if they voted for her. Chiaki, however, faces this truth with dignity, telling the others to choose to believe in their friend and survive. Even after her death, she becomes a key aspect of the final trial, largely for the fact that if they force the system to shutdown and lose their memories of the game, they will also lose all memory of her. Additionally, she is the one who manifests as the part of Hajime's psyche that pushes the rest of him to keep fighting, to find and choose his own future. Not bad going for someone who comes off at first as a mild-mannered dreamer-type who cares for nothing but her video games.

Abilities/Powers: Chiaki is known as the Ultimate Gamer and as might be expected, has the skills to back that up. She excels in games of all genres bar dating sims and she can also apply those skills to other situations - for example, she knows how to map areas in relation to one another because of all the dungeon-crawler RPGs she's played.

Items/Weapons: Her cat backpack, a portable games system (with at least one game installed) and an Usami phone strap.
