Applications Two

APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED!
The next application opening date is Friday 16th January, 7pm EST.
The next application processing date is Friday 23rd January, 7pm EST.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.

While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

To see what we are looking for:
Canon Characters:

Abilities/Powers:
First and foremost, Reyson is capable of using seid magic - chants and songs commonly referred to as galdrar. The wiki link explains which each chant is capable of, but it is generally speaking support and healing magic. He is able to invigorate his targets, bolstering them with speed and stamina, and increase their biorhythm - which is to say they'll fight better, in laymen's terms. Increased accuracy, damage, etc etc. He also knows songs that can physically heal, and decrease the accuracy and stamina of enemy targets.

Aside from the galdrar, Reyson is also able to read the minds of those around him, and sense the good and evil in their hearts. Herons are incredibly sensitive creatures attuned to the balance of all things around them, so it's easy for him to get pinged by chaotic energy. That said, excess of chaotic energy will literally make him physically ill, and interfere with his mind reading abilities. Think of it as sound - when there's too much noise around you, it' next to impossible to distinguish specific sounds from one another, right? This ability works best in a serene environment. Overly chaotic situations (such as battlefronts, and incredibly violent situations), can even make him lost consciousness.

Herons as a rule also have this.. peculiar ability to make everyone around them feel good. Even standing beside a heron can have healing properties, and being within the vicinity of one generally results in lots of GOOD FEELS.

Also, he's capable of flight (obviously..), and he can transform into his bird form, a gigantic white egret (i mean huge, like as big as a person, like fifteen-twenty foot wingspan), also capable of flight, and casting Galdr. In fact, while in this form he's pretty souped up - his Galdr are strengthened, and he's able to affect several targets at once.

Items/Weapons: Reyson will have none, save for the clothes on his back.

Personality: Usually cheerful, energetic and in possession of a ready smile, Heisuke is the youngest member of the Shinsengumi, and it shows in his actions and how he carries himself. This generally takes the form of hotheaded, impulsive behavior that tends to get him into trouble more often than not. If provoked, he'll jump into a fight without thinking things through or sizing up his opponent, as seen when he finally threw himself into the the fray at Aburano Koji and took on an unarmed man nearly twice his size only to wind up mortally wounded, as well as during the Ikedaya Incident in which he failed to heed his opponent's words when the man claimed he wasn't there to fight -because he was there and not on the side of the Shinsengumi, he was obviously an enemy and thus had to be defeated... and for his efforts, Heisuke suffered a pretty nasty head wound and was out of commission for a while.

His hotheaded and impulsive behaviour is not without a price, though. The few points when he does take time to think things through, they almost never pan out the way he would like, and as he tells Chizuru, “I think a lot about what I'm gonna do, but it seems like every time I make the wrong decision and then I regret it and just want to quit”. When this happens and he's feeling down, he's incredibly hard on himself to the point where, if given the chance and proximity, he'll drink quite heavily. This usually winds up leaving him even more depressed which leads to a beautiful downward spiral of regret. Bringing him out of it is something he can do on his own, typically by reminding himself that he's the only one who can make his decisions for him and choose the path he walks, but it tends to go a little faster if there's someone on hand that he feels comfortable talking to. Over the course of his route, there are several times when Chizuru has to drag him back up, whether it's by talking him through things or outright slapping and scolding him -that is to say, sometimes he can get back on his feet by himself, but there are other times when he needs a push.

Heisuke is also incredibly loyal to his friends, even when they're on opposing sides... and even if they've proven themselves to be completely off their rocker, though in those instances, that loyalty takes a different form. During the Aburano Koji affair, he chose to side with Sano and Shinpachi against the Guardians of the Imperial Tomb, not because he was betraying Itou whose side he had joined, but because friendship won out. On the flip side and much further beyond his canon point, when Sannan went crazy and set out to create a kingdom of rasetsu, Heisuke chose to fight against his former friend in order to stop him from doing something that was definitely in the wrong, even if it meant he was forced to kill him. In this, he was still retaining his loyalty to the friend that Sannan was by stopping the man Sannan had become. His loyalty to “that special someone” is something else entirely, and he will lay down his life in order to keep them safe.

The mention of rasetsu above brings about an interesting point because through that, we learn that Heisuke is afraid of dying. Again at Aburano Koji, he was mortally wounded by Amagiri and was given a choice: he could either die a human or drink the ochimizu/Water of Life and live as a rasetsu. Despite the pros and cons with rasetsu -super strength, speed, and regeneration tempered with a painful bloodlust and (as later learned) the fact that using the abilities of a rasetsu eats one's lifespan until one turns to dust- he chose to drink it. As he told Chizuru, his choice to drink wasn't because he still had things he wanted to do or anything great and noble like that... but because he was very much afraid of dying. Later, when he learns about the rasetsu powers using up one's lifespan, it sends him back into that depression and fear because he could turn to dust at any moment and without warning, leaving her to slap him in order to snap him out of it.

There is a point where he makes mention of being jealous of Chizuru's love for and devotion to her father. This comes from his being a bastard child who is unacknowledged by his own father, the daimyo of the Todo Domain. He claims that he's given a stipend in the form of cash that is essentially “hush money”, which he'll only receive so long as he doesn't go looking for his family, and that after being publicly declared dead, his father is probably happier that he doesn't have to waste his money keeping “some brat” quiet. In other words, the boy has daddy/family issues that he won't talk about unless specifically asked, but other people's happy family stories will cause a pang of jealousy that may or may not be evident.

He doesn't read much, outright stating this when he, Sannan, and Chizuru go looking for information concerning rasetsu at Chizuru's father's house (again, later). Food, primarily meat in all its various forms, is one of his favourite things, and he's got an average capacity for alcohol (not that he actually recognizes it), liking the fuzzy feeling that drinking brings, but too much and he's a sleepy drunk. He's also not terribly eloquent or good with words in general, either, though there are times when he can string together a plausible excuse or explanation if need be, such as when trying to get out of training with Inoue by insisting that he was going to be showing Chizuru around the Shinsengumi headquarters. The other thing of note is that in the drama track "On a starfall night", he actually describes his own personality to Sano as being "always happy and cheerful and full of sunshine". For the most part, this is pretty well true.

While he's 23 and technically an adult, he has a tendency to act rather childish. In general, this refers to his impulsive and hotheaded behavior, but it's also present in other things. For instance, in one of the games, when a cat steals the bag of snacks he wanted to share with Chizuru, he actually got down on the ground and tried to talk to the cat in hopes that he could convince it to give them back. He gets incredibly giggly and silly when drunk, laughing at the strangest things -ie. he was practically crying from laughter when Shinpachi drew on Sano's stomach and Sano yelled at him, because the way Sano's muscles shifted, it made the face Shinpachi drew on him move in response. When Chizuru made Souji some riceballs, Heisuke's childish nature came out again, resulting in him vehemently challenging Souji for them by playing a game of 'Tora Tora Tora' (similar to rock paper scissors). Later, he sulked over it, which caused Sano to drag him out in an effort to cheer him up...and it worked. To put it lightly, Heisuke's actually a very simple young man and acts the part.

His best friends are Sanosuke and Shinpachi, with himself making the third member of the self-proclaimed "baka trio". It's not hard to see how he fell in with those two, as they're both a bit on the childish and fun-loving side, and they've got a pretty strong bond between them, often hanging out and going drinking. When he's feeling down, the other two tend to drag him up from his sulking, sometimes literally. They're there for one another, and even despite Heisuke's departure with Itou, they don't lose faith in one another. They're his support crew, his partners in crime, and oddly enough, they're all from backgrounds that would be considered more than commonplace yet they don't ask about it because they accept one another as they are.

Chizuru falls into the category of 'best friend' as well, though he admittedly has a crush on her, going out of his way to be around her and find reasons to engage her in conversation. She's able to keep him sane and gives him someone to talk to/spend time with who falls into a closer age bracket than Shinpachi and Sano. As friends, they lean on one another for things and act as their own support group, pulling one another up from moments of self-pity or sadness. She gives him something to live for, and by his canon point, he's acknowledged the fact that he likes her, though he has never outright said "I like/love you" and instead says things like "No matter what I'll be there for you! Any bastard that thinks he can come after you will have to get through me first because you're what I'm fighting for!". Even if she were to choose one of the others over him, he's not the type to abandon her. He'd still stand by her side even if it hurts because that's what friends do.

Sannan is like the scary mother hen he never had, and he treats the man with respect, going to him for advice with things (pre-Sannan's-rasetsuism). When Sannan becomes a rasetsu, he starts to worry for him, afraid that Sannan has lost himself and instead of scary mother hen has just plain become scary. He is the lens through which Heisuke's own fears concerning the ochimizu are realized, and later he becomes the obstacle which Heisuke has to overcome in order to move past those fears.

There really isn't much in his route to show how he gets along with the others, but Kondou is the glue that holds them all together despite the differing beliefs between imperialism and nationalism as well as being a father figure of sorts, Hijikata is the disciplinarian who is not only treated with respect but still manages to be a friend -if a testy one, Saitou is the enigma as Heisuke never really seems to be able to read the guy yet still a friend (and directors' notes have said that they get along well due to their age...but it's never ever seen in canon), and Souji is one who can be playful and fun to be around, yet is like trying to juggle a drawn sword -you never know if that edge will be what comes down on you or if it'll miss you entirely. Of the four of them, he's probably a little closer to Souji than the others due to personality and maturity differences, but while he doesn't always understand Souji, he doesn't let that deter him from interacting with him. A good example of this is from a drama CD in which Chizuru made Souji some riceballs and Heisuke challenged him to a game where the winner got to choose the loser's fate: Heisuke lost and Souji threatened to kill him for it...but instead of backing off or beating a retreat, Heisuke stood his ground. Whether Souji was serious or not, he didn't know, but he didn't attempt to wheedle his way out of his punishment (he wound up playing with children instead). Oddly enough, Heisuke is closest in age to Saitou, being only a few months younger, but the maturity difference makes those few months seem more like a few years.

3/...or not

[personal profile] wolfthatbarkstheloudest 2013-11-05 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
-Strengths:
Physical: Despite being the smallest and youngest of the group, Heisuke is perfectly capable of holding his own in a fight. Because of his diminutive size as compared to the others, he’s used to going up against bigger guys who may have difficulty facing a smaller opponent. At a glance, it’s easy to forget that he’s as skilled as he is because he has a slightly more “effeminate” and child-like appearance with almost dainty limbs, large eyes, and a butt-length ponytail, which makes people more likely to underestimate his ability. What he lacks in mass, he makes up for in speed and skill, but strip him of his clothes and there's a good bit more muscle there than what one would expect.

Mental/Emotional: He’s actually quite loyal to those close to him –namely the Shinsengumi- and through them, is able to find the strength to keep going when things get bad. He stuck it out with the Shinsengumi when they were looked at with contempt and distrust, working hard to try and help them overcome that image. Add Chizuru to the mix, and he's got everything he needs to keep him going, be it friendship, one-sided affection, or something more.

He’s not as much of an idiot as his actions and age may have one believe. Though he doubts himself sometimes, does things without thinking them through, and tends to come across as more of a child than the others, he’s perfectly capable of behaving like the adult he actually is, and though he does tend to question things a lot, it’s because he doesn’t understand and he’s not afraid to make that known… and rather loudly at that.

-Weaknesses:
Physical: While his size is a strength, it’s also a weakness. Against an opponent of equal skill, speed, size, and strength dictate the outcome, and in those last two areas, Heisuke sits near the bottom of the pack. Add to it enough hair that someone could probably strangle him with or grab to keep him from being able to move easily, and even his own appearance becomes something of a trouble spot. Given the fact that he's canonically lost a sparring match to both Hijikata and Shinpachi, though he did hold his own for a while before losing, it's safe to say that a large opponent who doesn't make the mistake of underestimating him could take him.

He’s also human, which means he’s susceptible to illness and injury, and any or all can lead to death.

Mental/Emotional: Total hothead. Heisuke has this annoying tendency to rush in first and ask questions later, which is technically what gets him more or less further down the road. Even in terms of daily life, he does it, and the scolding he gets for it it deserved.

Though he's able to kill an opponent and not have a mental breakdown over it, he’s very much afraid of dying himself. This isn’t really mentioned until much later, but as he showed hesitation and got thrown around a bit in his first real fights, it’s safe to say it still applies.

The other major weakness that Heisuke has is his ability to second-guess himself at every turn. From failing what would have been his first kill due to hesitation to his "did I do the right thing" over going with Itou, he's proven to be rather good at this.

Abilities/Powers: Heisuke's versed in the school of Hokkushin Itto-ryu, which is a popular one-sword style that was considered the style of the Tokugawa shogunate in the late 1800s. By the time he left, Heisuke's rank within the dojo he was trained at was close to, if not already at, that of Menkyou Kaiden, which pretty much means he'd be able to teach if he wanted, and he was considered one of the strongest there. His smaller stature gives him less of a strength advantage as he has no bulk to back his blade, but his size also means he's lighter on his feet which gives him better maneuverability and speed. In canon, during the battle at Aburano Koji, Chizuru's monologue outright states that even though he's talking to her, he's batting away others' attacks like they're nothing, and even though there's a bit of distance between himself and Chizuru at the time, he manages to not only throw two swords in a straight line and hit his targets, he does so with deadly precision. He may act rashly and get in over his head at times, but against human opponents/opponents with no superhuman abilities, he's able to hold his own and then some.

By this point, he's taken the ochimizu which makes him a rasetsu, which is canonically something of a "defective fake demon" and bears a resemblance to some sort of pseudo-vampirism. The most distinct change that occurs is that his hair turns from brown to a snowy white and his eyes from blue-green to red when his rasetsu abilities are in use. While imbuing him with superhuman strength, speed, and regenerative abilities, it's also got several drawbacks (hence the "defective" part). Rasetsu are weakened -though not killed- by sunlight, and being outside during the daylight hours can be physically exhausting. The regenerative properties can't heal wounds caused by pure silver, and being impaled through the heart or being beheaded is still very fatal. Perhaps the worst of it though, is that all rasetsu need to drink blood, as the lack of it causes intense pain. Since Heisuke was one of the few to retain his senses and sanity after taking the ochimizu, he suffers from what they've termed "bloodlust" -the overwhelming need to drink blood. This can happen at random, or it can be triggered by the sight/smell/taste, and unless sated, leaves him in utter agony until he either drinks or the need passes. The last drawback is that a rasetsu's powers are tied to their lifespan in that the longer and more often they use them, the more time they shear off their lives -it isn't so much regeneration as it is accelerating the body's natural healing ability, and cells don't live indefinitely. When one's lifespan is consumed, the body literally crumbles to dust.

Charlie Bradbury | Supernatural | Reserved

[personal profile] hasthatspark 2013-11-05 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
Name: Mahreee
Contact Info: aim: norighttoenslave | plurk: lessthan3spn
Other Characters Played: Absolutely none.
Preferred Apartment: One with a roof and four walls, pleeeease~

Character Name: Her first name is unknown but her last name is Middleton. She initially goes by Charlene Bradbury. Charlie for short. She went by Carrie Heinlein in "LARP and the Real Girl". And in Pac-Man Fever, she had passports for: Christine Le Guin, Annie Tolkien, and Susan Asimov. But she's still Charlie to the Winchesters.
Canon: Supernatural
Canon Point: Mid 9.04 (After the Game of Thrones marathon, when they find Dorothy.)
Background/History: Link
Personality: When we first meet Charlie, she seems like your average IT girl. Smart, energetic, loves all things nerdly and spouts off internet memes in everyday conversation. So, your average twenty-something who has access to the internet.

First off, Charlie is a genius. In the scary smart way. Not all 'oh, yeah, that's so and so, they're a genius.' I'm not saying she's Albert Einstein, but she could hang out with him. Just saying. Charlie's been hacking since she was a preteen. Within five minutes of meeting her, we see Charlie donate ten thousand dollars from some big business to a charity website. What she does isn't necessarily always legal, but she's learned how to cover her tracks. When she was twelve, she stole a prototype video game of a game company's server, reprogrammed it with her own flair, and released it for free. The company tracked her down and had her arrested, hence the covering her tracks after that. After the events of Moondoor, when we see her later, she's got an iPad full of information on all things dark and scary. When Charlie gets into research mode, she gets heavy into research mode, finding whatever she can on a particular subject. Super-obsessed, to paraphrase her.

When given the task to hack into Frank Deveraux's hard drive or face being fired, Charlie is a little freaked out, surprising no one. But she buckles down and gets right to work. Charlie is determined to get the task finished. She stays the whole night, working on decrypting the hard drive. When informed that the Leviathans are bad news bears and would basically eat everyone in the world, Charlie, understandably, isn't for that at all. She's willing to go back to work where there are real life people-eating monsters and do some supremely illegal things that would get her eaten if she was caught. But she does it. Because, as she put it, 'who sits by while everyone gets eaten'? No one's that big of a douchebag. But during this, she is still extremely nervous. There's a big difference between doing a crazy dangerous mission that ends possibly in death in a video game or in Dungeons and Dragons...and real life. She has a rough go of it for a little bit, but succeeds with flying colors, if you don't include the broken arm. But as that was vengeful ghost!Bobby's fault, not going to count it.

Charlie is, at base level, a good person. She's kindhearted, gets along with just about everyone. Loves gaming, pop culture, all things fantasy, and a good roleplay. Often quotes movies and internet memes. She's willing to help the Winchester brothers when they're around, despite after their first adventure, telling them to never contact her again. During the events around Moondoor, and having the Winchesters thrust into her life again, Charlie agrees to help out. Not only did she know all the ins and outs of Moondoor, but the people as well. The next time, Charlie goes to the brothers with a case. By the time we get to Slumber Party, she's got the hunting bug. Saving people hunting things. Just two things. A ghost and a teenage vampire. But it's a start.

One night when she was twelve, she was at a sleepover. For whatever reason, she was scared and asked her parents to come pick her up. They were hit by a drunk driver on the way. Her dad was killed, but her mother was in a coma. After that, Charlie did the hacking thing, got arrested. Then disappeared. She'd keep moving, using different aliases, and donate money to take care of her mom in the hospital. Sometimes, she would visit, reading The Hobbit to her. It was what her mom read to her when she was little, and what got her into what she loved even to this day. Charlie has a massive amount of guilt over what happened. She keeps up with the donations, hoping against hope that she'd wake up so Charlie could apologize, could tell her mother she loved her. That guilt and fear almost kept her under the Djinn's curse and could have killed her, if it hadn't been for Dean.

When she returns again, and they do their bonding and Charlie explains what she's been doing (a little light hunting), she complains that hunting isn't magical to her. It's not like in one of her fantasy books or tv shows. She's a little lost, look and waiting for her quest.

Her relationship with the brothers is an overall positive one. She and Sam speak nerd fluently, which is awesome for the two of them. Dean teases but he doesn't really have a problem with all of the geekly stuff. And Dean is definitely the older brother, through and through, who is there to coach her when she needs the help. During Pac-Man Fever, Dean asks her if she has any siblings. To which Charlie replies that, yes. She has two, XBox and PS3. But despite her reply, she really did have two brothers. Sam and Dean. They took her under their collective wing, and even go as far as lecturing her on the dangers of hunting alone. They're good for her, and she's good for them. Giving them an outsider's perspective to their relationship, and they give her something she hasn't had in a long time. Family.
Abilities/Powers: Aside from being a super genius and probably the best hacker on the planet? She's human, painfully so. She's a decent shot with a handgun, too.
Items/Weapons: Her tablet, an old, worn copy of The Hobbit, and a 9mm handgun.
Sample Entry: Hello? Is this thing even working? [There's the pressing of buttons and some muttered cursing.] Can't believe this thing even powered up. What is up with this thing? It's practically an antique. Minus the video function, it belongs in the middle ages. And the text function isn't working, what sort of crap is that? No internet, I'm lucky I have a signal.

[Charlie sighs heavily, switching to video. She switches the phone around and lifts her free hand in greeting as she smiles.] Hey all, I'm Charlie. And I have no idea what the hell is going on. Any and all help would be appreciated. Especially a phone made in this century. Please.
Sample Entry Two: Link to a random psl thingy. If it isn't enough, just let me know!

Background/History: canon; toshizo
criesoverhaikus: (Default)

[personal profile] criesoverhaikus 2013-11-06 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:
Toshizo Hijikata is known as the Shinsengumi's Demon Vice-Commander and for a good reason too. He ia a strict, cold and calculating man that wouldn't hesitate to cut someone down if he was ordered too or believes that they should. When work needs to be done, Toshizo doesn't like to play around and it's the same with going off track. He places the Shinsengumi above all else, including himself and honor, and honor is something that he takes very seriously.

He's an intimidating man and the reason for that is due to the fact he is a natural leader. Although he was born as a peasant and just on a farm, Toshizo often walks with authority and acts a lot like a leader of an army. This is needed in order to lead the Shinsengumi because it's not an easy job. He receives a lot of orders and reports which he must take on in to make sure that they live a comfortable life and they succeed. He is aware that there are a lot of people who rely on him and that is why he barely allows himself to rest and because of that, Toshizo will refuse any help given to him.

Sometimes the Shinsengumi is given dirty jobs and Toshizo won't hesitate to take them. If they're told to kill someone, they will obey with no questions asked. There have been many cruel jobs he has been given; like needing to torture a Choshu in order to obtain information, and there are some he gives himself like Itou's fate. While his close friend and leader, Kondou had suggested to let the man go, Toshizo couldn't agree with him due to the fact it would not only risk his friend's life, but also those of the Shinsengumi.

Toshizo takes his life as samurai very serious. He believes that a man always sticks to their word no matter way, the same with a promise. The Shinsengumi code is serious to him, just like the samurai code, and he won't hesitate to punish those that break it. Often, if they are his own men, he will give them the choice of committing seppuku or drinking Ochimizu and becoming part of the rasetsu unit. Seppuku is something that he doesn't believe traitors or cowards should be allowed to do as betraying your own and fleeing the battlefield is not seen as honorable.

Toshizo can be a force to be reckoned with. It has been noticed that sometimes he will have a short temper. When he is upset and full of rage, he won't hide it. At one point he even slaughtered a group of men without hesitating because he was in so much pain of having to abandon the man he worked so hard for. He's not the type of person you want to be around when he's like that because he has a sharp tongue and he is unlikely to hold back with his words. He would not hold back on his actions either and will do what he see's best unless strictly ordered otherwise.

Sorrow is an emotion he feels greatly too, but it is also one he works hard to not show. Toshizo refuses to let anyone see him cry, in fact he does what he can so he won't shred any tears. This might cause people to worry about him and that is something he doesn't like. There are very few people he will allow to see this side of him if he can help it. Some of those people are Kondou, the man he works so hard for and wishes to raise to the top and a young woman named Chizuru. She is someone that he can possibly fall in-love with.

Despite how he appears and comes off, Toshizo cares deeply for his comrades and those close to him. He might be strict and cold at times, but he will always hold a persons best interesting to heart. This is why he will order a person to rest if he believes that they need too and will refuse to give in to their demands no matter how many times they push him to let them go. Because of this he comes across as a mother hen. He has also shown to care about innocence people, which is natural because of his job. Toshizo had ordered for the rasetsu corps to be stopped and that they would no longer create anymore rasetsu because of how it shortens their life span greatly.

There are times where it looks like he doesn't care about his friends, an example is when Saitou and Heisuke leave. Toshizo knew that Saitou would return, but he did not know about Heisuke. Either way, he said that he would cut them down in need by. His words ring true, but it would still be a painful action to Toshizo even if refuses to show it. When Sanosuke and Shinpachi leave, he once again displays very little reaction to it although he does recognize it as a low blow for the Shinsengumi. But as Toshizo is an understanding man he can accept their reasons for leaving.

When someone deserves a praise, he will give it to them which might some as a bit of a shock to some people. It had been unexpected for Chizuru when Toshizo told her that she had done a good job by getting to him quickly when she was tasked with relaying a message to him about the Choshu and Ikeda. It's quite clear that his men do mean a lot to him, he isn't the type to send them to their deaths and will order a retreat if it appears hopeless. Toshizo on the other hand, doesn't always know when to back down from a fight. While he might not be willing to risk other persons life, Toshizo is willing to risk his own.

There is one person that is very important to Toshizo and that is Kondou. He is the man that gave him hope for his dream to become a real samurai and the one who he was able to help create the Shinsengumi with. They did also get help from a man called Serizawa. It was actually thanks to Serizawa that Toshizo became the man he is today and took up being a demon in order to push his best friend to the top. Because Kondou is important to him, Toshizo will not hesitate to strike down those that can get in their way, i.e Itou because he wished to kill Kondou and Serizawa who had been dragging down the Shinsegumi, although they had been ordered to assassinate the latter.

In fact, Toshizo was happy to become a rasetsu in order to help his friend, along with to be able to protect Chizuru from a man named Kazama. Once he became a rasetsu, Toshizo ignored the chances and continued to work his ass off in order to keep the Shinsengumi going. Working during the day time is not an easy task for a rasetsu, but Toshizo is a stubborn man and pushed through it with determination. During this time he would sleep very little, some of the soldiers believe that he did not sleep at all, and would refuse to take breaks even if it put himself at risk.

Most of the time he is calm, confident and levelheaded. He projects an air of control over sticky situations. But, as said before, this is 'most' of the time. As said earlier, he does have a bit of a short temper and he will snap if he's buttons have been pushed too far.. He's not afraid to yell at people and give them a piece of his mind. Toshizo has a bit of a foul mouth, but it gets even worse when he's anger. It's not a sight that many people wish to see because it's, again, another sight where it shows his 'demon' side.

He's a hard man to read and often acts the opposite of what he is feeling, he refuses show weakness and being worried about someone to strangers. He maintains a mask and only those who are close and spent a long time with him will be able to see past that mask. There are times when it will falter and fall apart, i.e when those close to him have been killed or badly injured. Toshizo's true emotions will come to light when that happens. He isn't as cold hearted as he is assumed to be and deep down inside, Toshizo is a kind and caring man.

Abilities/Powers:
Toshizo became a rasetsu after drinking the ochimizu that he had been carrying with him. An rasetsu is a "fake" demon as Kazama puts it. He's speed and strength become enhanced and can be on par with those of a pureblood demon, as he was able to fight against Kazama before Kazama showed his demon forum. When Toshizo uses his ratsetsu abilities, his hair turns white and his eyes will become red.

Healing is also something that Toshizo, and all rasetsu gain. It can take them a few seconds for their wounds to heal unless the weapon is silver then the process takes longer and is more painful. However, a stab or bullet to his heart will kill him.

There are, of course, a few downsides to becoming a rasetsu. They are nocturnal beings and that means being out in the sun or even during the day can be painful and take a large toll on them if they're not careful nor strong enough to handle it. They also have a bloodlust which will force them into their rasetsu form and cause them great pain. The best way for them to revert back is by drinking blood, although waiting it out and having medicine designed for it can also work, but it's a painful process.

Items/Weapons:
(2) His katana (izuminokami kanesada) and wakizashi.
(1) A few coins in a small pouch.

Sample Entry: test drive!
Sample Entry Two:
"Hey, hey! Calm down," Toshizo growled as he watched the new trainees go at each other. They were supposed to be training together, but instead they were trying to get at each other's throats. Honestly, what was he going to do with men that wouldn't cooperate with each other? If they were going to behave like this out in the streets or on the battlefield then they'd end up dead in a matter of seconds.

Once he heard them bow and apologize, Toshizo released a large sigh and placed a hand on his hip. New blood was always good to get and they did need members, but some of them were utterly clueless. He couldn't be picky about who wished to join the Shinsengumi though. At least he wasn't forced to like it. "Keep your eyes on the enemy and pay close attention to their movement, okay?". He was grateful that they were willing to listen.

Most of them at least. Out of the corner of his eye, Toshizo did notice that a few people were slacking off. Making a 'tsk' sound and looking away, he wasn't going to waste any energy of those that didn't wish to help out. He was aware that if they were to slack off then they wouldn't have what it takes to be a samurai.

Really, who was the one that went out and got these men? He appreciated their hard work, but he would need to take a note not to let them recruit new people. Scratching the back of his neck, Toshizo turned around and started to make his way back inside. There were still plenty of paperwork to do and they wouldn't get themselves done if he spent all day watching these fools.

Personality:

SOME SPOILERS HERE. The movie has been out for a while now but just in case.

Clark is, first and foremost, a good person. Martha and Jonathan tried their damn best to keep him safe and hidden from a world they thought wasn’t ready for him yet, but they also taught him that ‘be good and good will follow’. Lois understood, after only meeting him once, that he wouldn’t be able to stop using his powers to save and protect people even after he would have been found out. He wanted to join the army when he got the age, even though his grades and his writing were good enough to get him a place in most colleges. The urge to do as much as he can, to use his abilities to save everyone on Earth runs deep inside of him and it’s as much a part of him as his powers are.

And his powers are a part of him. Are we alone in the universe? Well, his father told him he’d come from space to answer that particular question and that’s a moment Clark will never forget. He’s very much aware of the fact that he doesn’t exactly belong on Earth, like a piece of a puzzle that doesn’t quite fit even if it looks like it should. He doesn’t see himself above humanity like Zod did- he was raised by the best adoptive parents he could ever ask for, he knows fist-hand the best humanity has to offer and he killed to protect it.

Killing Zod so he wouldn’t kill that innocent family will forever be his biggest regret, a guilt that will follow him to the grave and something he will never repeat (if anything, killing once has scared him so badly he will be even more determined to never do it again), but the fact that he did it proves how much he values human life.

Still, he knows ‘humanity’ doesn’t include him… and he knows now for a fact that he’s the last Kryptonian alive. No one will ever comprehend what being the last of your species feels like, how much of a burden he’s carrying with the knowledge that he’s the last remain of a lost world. He had the Jor-El AI for a few precious moments but even that was taken away from him- he has no way to learn about his culture, his history, no way to learn what he really is and that kind of kills him inside.

He actually sees himself as some kind of impostor on Earth sometimes, fully aware that he’s been hiding among humans who would run away the moment they knew who (what) he really was- and by doing so he’s been lying to them. Even when he finally came clean on what he really was (with a little help thanks to being outed by the other Kryptonians) he did so with half-truths, not reveling who he really was and keeping a part of him to himself… and people with his full trust. But the alternative is fear, panic, becoming a test subject, losing humanity’s faith- and the list goes on. His father died to keep it a secret, to give him a chance at a normal life (or as normal as someone with superpowers can have) and he isn’t going to let his sacrifice go to waste- if that means letting the bullies kick him around even though he could throw them all against a wall in a second, if that means letting a loser throw beer on top of him and toss his glass at him right after he’s gotten fired for defending his coworker… then so be it.

Even now that the world knows there’s an alien among them he keeps Clark Kent a secret, an oasis of humanity in a life where the government uses satellites worth a fortune to spy on him. When he was younger he didn’t fully grasp how important it was to keep it a secret- ‘stay here, it’s safer’ his parents repeated over and over and all he wanted was to get out, to see world, to learn while he actually used his abilities for something useful. But all that changed with his father’s death, and he learned how to be careful (even though he obviously wasn’t careful enough to avoid being found out by a certain determined journalist).

At the same time, Clark doesn’t really see ‘Clark Kent’ as a lie. He was raised on Earth, completely unaware that he wasn’t human until his teenager years. He saw human shows, read human books, studied human history, had a huge crush on a human girl. It is part of who he is, just as much as the S-shield and he is proud of being Jonathan and Martha Kent’s adoptive son like he’s proud of being Jor-El and Lara’s biological son. Like a first generation immigrant Clark struggles to merge his parent’s heritage with the culture of the land who adopted him. If it were possible for him to live a normal live and saving the world at the same time, he would still be Clark Kent… he would just not be wearing the glasses.

But being an alien trying to live a human life isn’t all that Clark is. When you strip him out of this dichotomy you find a man with a fairly sarcastic and cynical sense of humor, a man who destroyed a semi when he wasn’t allowed to retaliate. You also find someone who read Plato when he was on his teens and hungry of knowledge, getting it wherever he could find it. You find the adoptive son, grandson and great-grandson of farmers who were really proud of what they did. You’ll also find someone who wanted more, who wanted to travel the world and make a change with his powers. And you’ll find a romantic at heart.

Because yes… I obviously have to talk about Lois Lane. In this universe he’s only met Lois for around two weeks and most of that time was spent a) hiding b) saving the world at the last minute, but she still managed to make an impression. She wasn’t afraid of him… even when he used his laser vision to cauterize her wounds, even when she tracked him down and learned that he could do much more. When the world’s safety was at a stake and the government was behind her she still kept his identity a secret, she still trusted Clark Kent would do the right thing. They never really got the chance to define where they stand, but Clark would love to have someone like her by his side no matter what- there is a reason he picked journalism without giving it a second thought, and while he was shown enjoying the written word since he was a kid it’s not much of a stretch to assume Lois was at least a huge plus about working in the Daily Planet. Public opinion of him might have changed since he stopped the alien invasion, but finding someone that trusts him, someone he can both be Kal-El and Clark around and someone whose company he actually enjoys- it’s something he knows he has to cherish.

Because Clark seems nice, even friendly at first… but anyone who spends more than a couple of hours with him knows how much he hides, how much he holds back and how lonely he really is. It’s not that he doesn’t like people; it’s just that he spent most of his life hiding from them and now he doesn’t really know how to switch that off. He spent most of his life repeating a pattern: get somewhere you can hide, find a job, try to avoid getting noticed, run away when you’re eventually at risk of getting caught… rinse and repeat.

It’s no wonder he ended up getting a fortress of solitude in the arctic.

Abilities/Powers:

Outside of being Kryptonian Clark hasn’t had any kind of training whatsoever, and the only ability he really has is his writing (good enough to land him a job at the Daily Planet). He’s traveled the world and gained experience at odd jobs here and there, but that’s about it.

Now to the interesting part: describing a Kryptonian’s powers! Keep in mind the movie kind of twists his powers a bit to make Superman more realistic (yeah, yeah) and we don’t know where the sequel will go or if they will add more powers we see in the comics as Clark learns more and more about his abilities. I will simply write down the powers we do see in canon for now.

With that in mind…

Clark comes from a planet with a denser and more toxic atmosphere, bigger gravity, an older sun and generally harsher conditions. Kryptonians body adapted to those conditions, which means that once Clark’s body adapted to Earth said adaptation granted him superhuman powers because that is totally how science works.
It made his skin ticker, his bones and muscles more dense, durable and strong, it stretched out his senses… but in terms of actual powers, let’s see what this means:

- Super strength. He was able to move a bus when he was on his teens, he can break through walls as if they were made out of paper, he can move steel bars and put them through vehicles without breaking a sweat, bend metal, break handcuffs without effort…
- Super speed. The human eye can barely catch him when he’s moving this fast, but neither the movie nor the novel pin point his actual speed. Around match 4 or 5 is the best guest.
- Invulnerability. Bullets bounce of his skin; fire doesn’t even bother him, walks around the artic in a t-shirt without even feeling the cold, is able to withstand space… things like being hit by a helicopter do seem to hold him back but he’s generally a thought nut to crack.
- Flight. Contrary to popular belief he doesn’t leap high enough that he’s flying, since that would mean every time he picked up someone mid-flight they would die. He actually manipulates gravity around him since his body is adapted to a much higher pull. This is the reason why he can fly even in space.
- Enhanced senses. Laser vision, x-ray vision, telescopic and microscopic vision and super hearing are the ones we see in canon for sure.
- Super…breath? He’s able to hold it back for long, staying underwater for a long time and flying to space.

Now weakness! I bet you’re expecting me to talk about Kryptonite but nope! There is no Kryptonite in the movie. Kal’s weaknesses are actually more general: since his body has adapted to Earth, contact with conditions similar to those Krypton have (like the ones the World Engine was creating when it was terraforming Earth, or those the Kryptonians had on their ships) will strip him away from his powers. Being completely exposed to them, like being forced to breathe a Kryptonian atmosphere, can even be toxic to him- and probably lethal in big doses.

Also, the movie doesn’t deal with magic but Clark has been vulnerable to it in every universe so I’m choosing to have him keep this vulnerability. And finally, electricity in really big doses also hurts him.

Items/Weapons: The super-suit! A full set of Kryptonian clothes (including the boots) with the House of El’s S-shield on its chest. And then… a set of his normal Clark Kent clothes (including the famous glasses!) over said suit.
Sample Entry: Sample, hope this is enough!
Sample Entry Two:

‘You are not alone’

The moment he processed the words he couldn’t help relief, curiosity and hope hitting him at once and leaving him breathless for a second. He knew the message was meant for him (or at least meant to be seen by him) with an uncertainty he couldn’t explain and honestly didn’t want to question. ‘You are not alone’ were the words he had always wanted to hear, needed to hear since that dreaded day his father had made him kick open a door that would change his world forever. He’d thought he had learned to process, to accept and had resigned to live with the idea of being the only one in the world when he had grown up, but the way his heart skipped a beat at those four words made it clear that wasn’t the case.

“Clark?” His mother tried to get his attention even though her eyes were also glued to screen as she reached for his arm to squeeze it softly, as if trying to reassure herself he was still there. She brought him back to reality.

He’d been telling her a moment ago about the spaceship, the key-stone and Jor-El’s AI. He had explained to her how his world had died; how he was the last remain of a death civilization. He had shaken as he hugged her tight and she calmed him down by merely being herself, her smell and heartbeat slowly but surely washing away all the pain. And now… this. Had Jor-El been wrong? His father had seemed so sure, so determined. He held his breath as a voice began to speak over the speakers of a TV that couldn’t possibly be working since the electricity was off.

By the time the message had ended they had slumped on the sofa, holding hands.

“What are you going to do?” Martha asked tentatively as Dust tried to hide on her lap like it did any time the dog sensed something bad was going to happen in the household. Someone should tell that dog he was too big for that.

“I don’t know.” It was a stupid answer, but it was the best he had at the moment. He’d thought he had gotten a part of his native world back and instead they were taking away the world that had adopted him.

“Jor-El, my father… when he spoke about Zod-“ He hesitated, fishing for the right words. He had been doing that more and more lately, as if wording was somehow fundamental. It calmed him down. “He seemed pained; angry… ashamed of what he had done to Krypton. I’d turn myself in without a doubt if I knew for sure Zod was going to keep his promise. But can I trust his word? Or will that put Earth in danger?” He looked into his mother’s eyes, looking for an answer.

For the first time in his life, he realized she didn't have it.

Background/History: Jolyne’s history and Series background
stonethread: (Default)

[personal profile] stonethread 2013-11-07 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:

One look at Jolyne and one can safely say that she isn't the nicest person around. In fact, she's actually far from that. She's actually quick to anger, snappy with her elders, and she's flighty and irresponsible. Because of this, she's always led a terrible life, usually fueled by her own bad choices. But she does have a kind side to her, even though she only shows it to certain people, like her mother or a potential love interest. Because of this, Jolyne wasn't the most social person, often getting into fights because of her bravado, and getting in trouble with the law most of the time.

However, this all changed after an encounter with her father, Jotaro Kujo, left him paralyzed and unable to do anything due to the meddling of Enrico Pucci. After this, Jolyne gained a sense of responsibility, and is known to undergo a lot of personality changes throughout the series. The first part of her personality being the one that was mentioned in the paragraph above.

After the encounter, Jolyne becomes a driven individual who will stop at nothing to actually get back at Pucci for what he had done to her father. Because of this new drive, Jolyne has become more open to others, but she's still rather quick to anger if someone says something wrong. She's also more wary of who to trust, rather than placing her trust in someone who says that they could help her out like before, unless they can actually prove their worth to her. She's also not one to let her emotions get in the way, actually being able to think quickly under pressure and keep a calm, leveled head when things manage to get hairy for her, as she's able to take out opponents that seem to have the upper hand on her with a little meddling on her part.

As stated before, Jolyne can choose to be nice to others that she deems worthy of it. Because of it, she's shown to have loyalty to her friends, always wanting to back them up when they're in trouble, and she's also been shown to take some hits for others that don't deserve it. She can be caring because of it, always making sure that they don't have any wounds on them, or to teach them new things that they didn't know before. She's seen as a rather motherly figure to some people, but she doesn't like to show it often due to her rough looks.

However, when she does find a romantic love interest, her demeanor changes completely. She becomes a sweet girl, always trying to sugarcoat her talk in sweet nothings, and giving them nick names that one would find a couple muttering to each other. She's also tolerant of a lot of things that they will do to her, as shown when she fell in love with a man named Romeo. She was willing to take the blame for a hit and run that he had caused, but that ended with her actually ending up in jail. Because of it, she's also more wary of who to actually choose to love, but when she does actually find that person once more, she will revert back to her lovey-dovey exterior.

The girl is also shown to actually be quite humorous when the time calls for it. Her wit can get the best of her sometimes, cracking jokes at what seems like the most inappropriate of times. She's also a bad influence on others, actually making a lot of sexual innuendos to others just to see how they would react to it. However, when she knows the joke goes a little too far, she will stop. But once the joke does get rolling, she finds it a little hard to stop- especially against someone she knows that wouldn't be able to handle something like that.

When it comes down to it, Jolyne has come a long way from what she used to be- she's gained a new sense of responsibility, she's hard working when it comes to achieving her goal, and she's also shown a sense of loyalty to her friends that she wouldn't want to trade anything for. That goes without saying that she's still not the best person, as her wit can get the best of her when it doesn't really call for it, and she can find love in all the wrong places if the person does treat her right. But boiling it down does show that Jolyne does have a heart of gold, helping out those in trouble when they need it, and showing others that she can defend herself when the time actually does call for it.

Abilities/Powers:
Jolyne has what's called a "Stand", and her Stand in particular is called Stone Free. A Stand grants the user unique abilities, and a Stand can only be seen by other stand users. Here is what Jolyne's Stand allows her to do;

Super Strength: When the string is completely compacted into one place, it becomes incredible strong: the destructive force of Stone Free's punch is roughly equivalent to being hit by a small but incredibly fast-moving meteor.

String Decomposition: Stone Free gives Jolyne the power to unravel herself as a string. She can completely unravel up to around 70% of her body and quickly reassemble it and has been shown to be able to stuff herself inside the mouths of others and use it to hide from view by unraveling her limbs. The string provides for more conventional usage as well, as Jolyne can also "cut" the string and make it independent from her body. This makes it useful for weaving nets or clothing to create disguises. Ironically, when the stand moves further away from Jolyne, it unravels itself.

Stitching Wounds: Jolyne is able to use her stand ability to stitch any wounds sustained by her and her allies.

Long-Distance Hearing: Stone Free also uses its ability to listen to faraway conversations via vibrations, similar to a can tied to string.

Items/Weapons: She won’t be arriving with anything!
Sample Entry: Dear mun post!
Sample Entry Two:

This was just great. She had a mission that she was supposed to fulfill back at home, and being brought here just set that back about...oh, a good while. Sure, she had been here for a while, but she honestly was worrying about how her being gone might actually affect her from not being home. Her dad was suffering, and if she didn't get his memories back...he might as well just be good as dead. The thought weighed heavily upon her, but she had to think of something else in the meanwhile.

Which is why she decided to actually walk into the Haven, hopefully finding the sights to actually be a little calming as she tries to wrap her head around the situation. Sure, things seemed bleak at the moment, but being in Haven? Somehow, even though she’s been kidnapped, it’s bringing a little tiny smile to her face. How long had it been since she had been able to walk around freely like this, without having to listen to some prison guard telling her what to do? She will admit, she actually does like this aspect.

But she would be damned is someone weren't about to screw with her right now. She had heard that there were monsters around here. Seriously, she actually couldn't be more half-assed to actually drive them away with her Stand sometimes (thankfully, her Stand was the perfect for tying monsters up, and leaving them out to rot. Her strings aren’t easy to break, after all) but she wasn't too worried about that little fact right now.

She had actually wanted to rest now, finding herself a good spot in the rubble to actually sit down in. With a yawn, she’s laying down, not minding the fact that it’s totally rocky underneath her. "...Is this what it feels like to be free once more? To actually feel the wind blow against my skin...?" She thought out loud to herself, that smile of hers actually stretching out once more.

Or at least she thought she had found a good place to rest. Soon enough, a voice came into her hearing. Was someone actually watching her sleep? It’d better not be some creeper, or else she’d get really peeved. In fact, she already seems to be angry as it is, herself sitting up and pointing a finger in whichever direction the voice is coming in.

"Hey, do you think you're funny over there, you little shit face? If you don't want to get pummeled right now, I would suggest you get out of here before things turn ugly."

As if she couldn't sound more threatening, she heard the voice stop, and soon go away. "Heh, that's one way to deal with those annoying bastards..." She yawned, laying down once more and feeling her eyes actually drift off, a bit of a snore coming out as she drifts into sleep.

Personality:
Our first meeting with Yuna is a rather ethereal one. In a chamber full of worried faces, a sweaty, fatigued woman stumbles out of a room, nearly about to pass out - after Kimahri catches her, she rises to her feet, a cheerful grin stating "I did it. I've become a summoner." In this scene, there is a feeling of magic and calmness emanating from Yuna - and this feeling doesn't wear off for a while.

Dona: All these guardians... and Sir Auron, too? And I hear Maester Seymour's quite taken with you. The world must look different when you're the daughter of Lord Braska.

Yuna is magic, in a way. She's a summoner, which is a special ability only a few hold. This ability has shaped Yuna's life, defining who she was as a child and young adult. Born the daughter of the former High Summoner, Braska, Yuna lived her life in his shadow, with spectators constantly anticipating to see if she could live up to everyone's expectations.
Lulu: Yuna chose her own path. She knew from the beginning what it meant.

However, she does not resent her father for this. Instead, she'd made it her life goal to surpass him - to become high summoner, like he did. Yuna is an extremely dutiful and piteous person, loyal and dedicated to the teachings of Yevon, which she has been taught is 'right' from childhood. Yuna is impartial, nonjudgmental, and kind-hearted; always looking out for her friends and people around her, above herself. This can be seen when she's quick to defend her Guardians when Dona insults the sheer number of them frequently. The meek, soft spoken Yuna quickly stands her ground, saying it is 'more of an honor to be [with them] than to be [her] father's daughter.' It can also be seen early on, when surrounded by the Kilika Beasts. She proudly proclaims that Tidus played for the Zanarkand Abes, something she firmly believes in, even though it makes her look odd. From this, you can see a major theme to Yuna's character; trust. Her blind faith in Yevon, her devoutness to saving the people of Spira, and her fealty to her friends. When these things pull here in different directions is where her real inner conflicts stem.

As a person, Yuna is very demure and polite. A huge doormat, she lets people walk over her and tell her what to do in many different ways. She allows others to tell her how her life is to be lived, in what way, and how she is to do it. She lives her life according to the teachings of Yu Yevon, obeys Lulu and Wakka when they forbid her from doing something. Yuna's life is not her own; she's given it to others, to use as a tool, a bringer of peace. This is something she is content with. However, she is steadfast in her beliefs and quick to defend them when they are challenged, something that seems almost uncharacteristic of the modest girl we often see.

Yuna is also very charismatic, despite her modest nature. Children are drawn to her natural kindness. People naturally flock to her, and she is able to shine in the spotlight; a true celebrity. This is because Yuna truly loves people. She is moved by their stories, and humbled by their admiration. She draws strength from people and their energy, hopes, and tragedies.

Yuna has a strong case of wanderlust. Though she's lived in Spira her whole life, most of it has been spent on Besaid Island, so when she is exposed to the outside world, she can be a bit impulsive and curious, always wanting to explore and experience new things, almost like a tourist. This can get her in to a good deal of trouble, such as when she goes searching for Auron and ends up kidnapped by the Al Bhed Psyches.

While Yuna may seem like a saint, she does have flaws. Namely, her biggest one is her naivety. She's lived most of her life confined to Besaid Island, full of piteous seniors, Lulu and Wakka, who have basically raised her since she was 7, and friendly islanders. Yuna may have lived in Spira all her life, unlike Tidus, but as she travels, her pilgrimage is one of discovery and great let downs as well. Because of this, she can have an idealized view on things, and puts her faith in nearly everyone she meets. Yuna is trusting. After only knowing Tidus for a day or two, she desperately wants him to become her guardian. However, there is a downside to this; Yuna places blind faith in people, things, ideals.. Yuna trusts Lulu and Wakka to take care of her, all of her guardians to protect her, Yevon to guide her, her Aeons to aid her in the battle against Sin.. but not all of these things are on her side. And when something or someone does let her down, it crushes Yuna's spirit.

However, how can you damn Yuna for this? Yuna is pure in various respects at the game's start. Innocent and untainted, she is not sure how to react when much more bitter, arrogant summoners, such as Dona, arise. Yuna has a lofty goal, one of self-sacrifice, and she is ready to give her life up for others. Shouldn't the other summoners hold these intentions, too?

Yuna is not stupid, though. Intuitive, clever, and with a strong sense of ingenuity, Yuna is able to deduce things and figure them out with a little digging. She might not be the strongest fighter, but she's great at reconnaissance. This can be seen in the respect to Seymour Guado, a fellow summoner who is loved by all of Spira. Yuna is able to see past his charming words and helpful disposition, able to see the disillusioned, vile person he truly is, and to prove it with the sphere she found of Jyscal's detailing how it was him who assassinated him. In a way, this makes Yuna a very impressionable person, someone who judges things by what she sees and senses from them first.

Yuna: I've.. Learned how to smile.. even when I'm feeling sad.

Despite being a summoner, Yuna is rather helpless. Summoners take on 'guardians', people who accompany them on their pilgrimage to protect them. As such, Yuna is rather dependent on her friends, those who she's entrusted to protect her with her life. Yuna does not want to be a burden. She is constantly frightened she is relying too much on others, and desires to be independent. Because of this, she will bottle up her own feelings on things, not express how deeply saddened and depressed things will make her, which is difficult for her. Yuna is a very emotional person. Wakka and Lulu know this, and know exactly what it is that's bugging her at all times. She wants to be able to take things into her own hands, to not have to rely on anyone else. At the beginning of the game, though, this just means she'll have to smile and pretend everything is okay, that she's not torn witnessing the deaths of many Spirans, by the fact that if she succeeds, she will die.. She has to be Spira's light, as that is the job of a summoner.

Yuna is brave. Despite the many warnings from Lulu and Wakka as a child, the variety of setbacks from her pilgrimage, and even being branded a traitor by Yevon, Yuna's number one priority is to always continue with her pilgrimage — even though she is aware death is what awaits her at the end. She is also a master at the power of positive thinking; she shows this after her and Seymour's 'marriage', when she jumps from the tower, and, with a stroke of luck and good timing, manages to summon an aeon to catch her fall. She says it will all be okay "if you just believe". As she cites near the end of the game, she 'knows nothing outside of the teachings of Yevon', so everything she does from that point on is a huge leap of faith, a risk that she is willing to take if it means Sin will be quelled from Spira forever.

Tidus, the strange visitor from Zanarkand, always manages to cheer her up. In the beginning, she takes a childlike fascination about his stories, putting full faith in him actually being from Zanarkand. Later, they learn to rely on each other. They are always able to cheer the other one up, and Tidus always know what to say around Yuna to make her laugh or smile. Rikku, too, takes on this role. Her cousin is her confidant, the one she's sure she can tell anything to and not expect to have it leaked. Wakka and Lulu act as substitute parents, there to guide her and give her advice when it's needed. She admires Auron for his work as a guardian with her father, and is able to put full trust in him and his honesty. Kimahri has been with her since she was young, and though he does not say much, she's positive he always has her best interest in mind. They share a silent bond. In these ways, Yuna is kept going by her relationships; without these key people in her lives, she wouldn't be able to continue with her pilgrimage.. physically, mentally, or emotionally.

Immediately, the weight of betraying Yevon by killing Seymour, no matter how justified it was, weighs on Yuna. 'Traitor', he calls her, as she falls to her knees. Though she is aware of what is right and wrong, going against the code she followed so closely her whole life is difficult and 'taboo' to her, as opposed to Tidus and Auron, who realized the necessity and don't freak out like she and Wakka did. Even still, Yuna continued on her Pilgrimage, despite being followed and assaulted by Yevon's various troops and maesters. She realizes soon that she put faith in Yevon because she believed it was the true way, and, as she continues on her pilgrimage, more of Yevon's lies are unraveled, such as Maester Mika being an unsent and the true nature of the final summon. Still, the betrayal of the doctrines and people she looked up to for so long weigh on her for the duration of the game, and when she is spoken to in the airship before the final battle, she regretfully waxes "All those teachings.. were they for nothing?"

Somehow, with the reassurance of her Tidus and the other Guardians, Yuna overcomes her anathema for straying from Yevon's teachings, even going so far as to dispose of Yunalesca, the one who imposes the truth of the final summon. She proves she is capable of taking things into her own hands, and, through that, is able to vanquish sin for good, something no other summoner has ever tried to accomplish, merely because they were not as revolutionary as Yuna. They did not take the time to unravel all of Yevon's secrets, to learn of the lies, to seek other ways, something Yuna learned from Tidus and the Al Bhed.

Yuna: I love you.

Tidus's departure weighs heavily on Yuna. She'd learned to rely on him, to confide in him — she loved him. So the fact that he ceased existing is enough to send her into a deep depression, an unrecoverable one. However, if her smiling in the ending is any indication, she realizes it is for the best, and appreciates the sacrifice Tidus gave for her and the entirety of Spira. If it wasn't for her, she would be dead, and Sin's cycle would begin anew. She had to smile for him — one last time.

Yuna: It all began when I saw this sphere of you. At least, it looked like you. I couldn't say for sure.

Fast forward two years, and things have changed considerably for everyone in Spira — except Yuna, that is. Now the 'High Summoner' and the face of The Eternal Calm, for the past two years Yuna's led a pensive and quiet life in her hometown of Besaid. Lauded around Spira as a saint, though she is more often treated as a celebrity, Yuna somehow feels dissatisfied with her life. That is, she feels dissatisfied with the life chosen for her now, the life of a summoner in a time when they are no longer needed. It's not that she's tired of living for the sake of other people, but she's weary of being stuck on Besaid, unable to do much of anything with herself.

Everything changed one day when Rikku visited. Armed with a sphere Kimahri had found on Mount Gagazet, Rikku planned to persuade Yuna to journey with her as a sphere hunter. On the sphere is a video of a man that looks shockingly like Tidus, which convinced Yuna that he may still be alive. In a brash impulse of selfishness usually uncharacteristic for Yuna, she sneaks off with Rikku that night without saying goodbye to Wakka or Lulu, scared that they might convince her to stay.

By the start of the second game, Yuna is a full fledged sphere hunter, complete with a new, less modest outfit that Rikku had arranged for her. She's a new Yuna, a more assertive sort, and it's her story now — well, sort of. Changes don't just happen over night, and it's still easy to see that this Yuna is the same Yuna from before. She has a difficult time making selfish decisions, and almost always stops to think about how it will affect others before she does anything rash, something she gets scolded for by Rikku and Paine often. Yuna can be a bit of a doormat, and has a chronic need to help everyone when they need it. She even has a difficult time cutting people off when she's trying to get a word in edgewise.

It actually becomes pretty obvious that Yuna's trying her best to behave more like her roguish companions — in particular, she picks up some of Rikku's mannerisms and neologisms ('Poopie', 'Disasterrific'), and claims that she looks up to Paine because of how strong she is. In a way, you can even say that Yuna has taken to emulating Tidus, her lost love — she wears the symbol of the Zanarkand Abes on her chest, and her outfit seems to mimic Tidus's, with the open chest area, hooded shirt, and shorts.

Yuna:Here comes the real Yuna!

Despite Yuna's difficulty in trying to adapt to her new life, she's still the same Yuna, the Yuna who can't stand for injustice or seeing others get hurt. This is evident all throughout the game; Yuna even gets pretty assertive and sassy with others, and developed a sense of sarcasm, probably from a mixture of Paine's cold, biting sense of humor and Rikku's more goofy side. She can even be outright stony when people insult things like summoners or her pilgrimage. Yuna is very protective of her precious memories and can get snappy when someone tries to deny the validity of he experiences.

Due to the Eternal Calm, everyone has changed quite a bit. Loosened up, you could say. Even Lulu has learned how to relax and figuratively let her hair down. Because of this, Yuna begins to feel less stress about keeping face. Before, Yuna smiled for the people of Spira, but now, she smiled for herself, and frowned for herself, and experienced a whole range of emotions just for herself. She is more willing to show her flaws, and we learn that Yuna is, in fact, a rather jealous person. When she learns that the man in the sphere who resembles Tidus is looking for a woman named Lenne, she angrily exclaims 'who the heck is Lenne?', causing a bit of a scene at a party on the Celsius, then awkwardly storms off to her room, trying to process why she was so mad. She's not used to experiencing such human and normal feelings like jealousy, when she always had to be perfect and modest in the past.

Tidus:You know, you've changed.
Yuna:Well, you've missed a few things.

In the end, Yuna is a teenage girl, and a lot of people seem to forget that, because she's never had the chance to be a teenage girl. And when something threatens the Eternal Calm that allows her to be a teenage girl — that allows everyone to be who they want to be — she kicks into action to staunchly defend it, even if her methods are a bit more sneaky than she was previously used to. Yuna's character truly comes full circle in Final Fantasy X-2, as Yuna finally gets a voice — a chance to live out her own story.

Abilities/Powers: Yuna's Garment Grid, designed by the child genius Shinra, allows her to use Dresspheres in battle. Dresspheres are normal spheres that Shinra has altered and enabled to be equipped to a Garment Grid that, when utilized, gives the bearer innate and special abilities. For example, the Warrior Dressphere would allow the wearer to utilize a sword like an expert, while the White Mage Dressphere would enable the wearer to access curative and support magic.

Oh.. poopie.

[ Yuna 'swore' as she pulled the well's bucket up, looking in tentatively. Unsurprisingly, it was bone dry. ] I've really gotten myself into a complicated situation this time.. [ Yuna mused to herself for a moment, hand to chin thinker-style. ] I fell through the hole in the temple, where the Fayth used to sleep — so that must mean..

[ she couldn't shake the feeling that wherever she fell should have felt familiar, but she can't imagine how a place like this would be anywhere in Spira. Her mind kept drifting to the ever-changing landscape of the Farplane, though. Could she have found herself stuck there? In the playground of the dead? ]

There isn't any point in over-thinking it. [ at least, that's what Paine and Rikku would say. Yuna had a habit of over-thinking. ] For now, I should focus on getting water.

And then.. [ she can figure out the deal with how she got here — and where here was. ] I can only imagine the earful Rikku is getting from Brother. [ and, with a tiny chuckle, Yuna pulled at the bucket's string once more. ]

Another day, another beginning. That's what Yuna had begun to tell herself every morning. A brand new day, a sinless day, a day of eternal calm. It was something to be thankful for. Yet she was so restless, so eager to stretch her limbs beyond the island of Besaid once more. Sighing, she began her morning ritual: brewing tea, cleaning up the house a bit, having a silent, reflective prayer. This had been her life for the past three months, since her pilgrimage. Was it wrong to say she was displeased, with how stagnant her life had become?

She sits for a moment, pouting and gently sipping her tea. "Is this.. what my life is to be, from now on?" Blissful, yes, but empty. Without purpose or direction. Lulu and Wakka were exploring their budding relationship, Kimahri had reunited with what remained of his people, and Rikku returned to the Al Bhed, hoping to forge a new home. That only left Yuna. If Rikku were to send her a letter, asking her how she had been, what would she even say? "Mm.. I can't think of a thing.." Not a single interesting topic to cover.

She makes her way to the sink, mulling this over as she begins to mechanically wash her glass. "The Eternal Calm really lives up to its name." She chuckles a bit, staring off into the distance, reminiscing. "I can just imagine what he'd say. 'High Summoner Yuna, busily washing dishes.' He would die if he knew." She finds herself smiling. She took solace in memories of him, effectively subtracting some of the more perfunctory elements of her life. When she thought about him, it was like he was right there next to her, laughing along with her, his hand on her shoulder. A daydream.

Of course, he wasn't there. He was gone. This was something she had grown to realize.

For now, her life would have to be methodical. She may be the High Summoner, but Spira didn't have to do a little tap dance to keep her entertained.

small edit: i forgot to say i'd like if yuna roomed in #3.004, if that's okay!

Character Name: Tsunayoshi Sawada
Canon: Katekyo Hitman REBORN!
Canon Point: Chapter 296 before the Shimon Family crashes Tsuna’s inheritance ceremony
Background/History: Here
Personality: The way Tsuna perceives and understands his life is very simplistic, which is both refreshing and destructive. In the beginning, Tsuna had little ambition. He received poor grades, didn’t apply himself in athletic activities and isolated himself from being social. His nickname was No-Good Tsuna which he never bothered to change, even if it irked him, but he merely accepts it because he had a poor perception of himself. At that point of his life, he felt it was a fact that he was one of those people who will always be mediocre. Though he earnestly wished to get the attention of the girl of his dreams,Kyoko, he would have easily accepted if some other guy made her their girl.

Then entered Reborn, the home tutor/hitman, who placed Tsuna’s world upside, pushing him to outrageous extremes on a daily basis. Forcing him to interact and befriend all sorts of people from various walks of life. And though the hitman is initially there to groom Tsuna into a respectable Mafia boss of the distinguished Vongola family, Tsuna’s main focus is humble. He still wants to enjoy a normal life, trying to indirectly woo the girl he adores and have friends. Tsuna doesn’t really care about the mafia, or what he’s been asked to become, what’s important to him is his friends. Fighting to maintain the very thing that made his life so fulfilling despite the craziness ensued. It is not the Mafia that Tsuna fights for, but to go back to those crazy days he used to dread but now look back in fondness (almost).

Tsuna’s friends are what drive him; friendship is usually his motivation for any scuffle he must overcome. Having been without friendship, he values it. Being surrounded by people who appreciates him, only pushes Tsuna more in not disappointing them. His strength and his potential for growth lie in that. Unlike the stereotypical Mafioso whose tough and gruff, caring little for their subordinates, Tsuna cares a lot for his family, often not wanting to involve them in anything that deals with mafia at all. When it comes to Yamamoto fighting in a battle and messing up his arm for baseball, Tsuna feels especially guilty, or whether Gokudera decides to carelessly throw his life away for Tsuna, the brunette becomes furious not wanting to lose a friend for something so minor.

As his awareness grows, Tsuna begins to see the good in people. During his battle with Lanchia, Tsuna was able to see through the pained man, and understand that he wasn’t a bad person. It’s because this intuition that Tsuna has been able to open up and trust more people. He’s been shown to have compassion not only for his comrades but his old enemies as well. He’s not a person who can hate, or at least dislike people for very long. This is shown when Tsuna shows concern for Mukuro after finding out he was still locked in the Vendice Prison, despite what the illusionist put his friends and himself through.

Despite his lack of confidence, Tsuna is far being a complete pushover. If he completely disagrees, he wouldn't do it ( unless forced). If he sees something shocking, the daily antics of his peers, he would say it( mostly internally). Especially when previous bosses of the Vongola test Tsuna, saying he must continue to walk down a bloodied path, he refuses and vows to destroy the Vongola if it comes to that. When he is pushed to his limit, and sees that people are wrongfully hurt, Tsuna becomes a champion that fights Injustice. Normally he would cower at thought of standing up to anyone, but there are times where he can fight for what’s right and resolves to defeat his enemy at all costs. He can also be unforgiving. When Yuni and Gamma are forced to sacrifice themselves in order to revive the Arcobaleno, Tsuna retaliates on Byakuran, with the intent of defeating him. Even if he had no other choice, it was the first time Tsuna willingly wanted to hurt another person.

When it’s time for him to make decisions, Tsuna isn’t always secure in his own decisions, and he would rather allow someone else to make those tough judgments and go along with it. However the Future Arc has really pushed him into making decisive moves, and not being afraid of making wrong verdicts. Tsuna is forced into being a Boss, despite his aversion to being a part of the Mafia. Being able to make the right decisions shows how much he values to people in his life, and to make sure he can protect everyone he must take responsibility and find a solution.

More than most, Tsuna has been very reliant on Reborn. The hitman and his pupil share a special bond, which may seem really comedic from an outsider’s standpoint, but Reborn really understands Tsuna. And it is Reborn that Tsuna looks to for counsel. When his friends can’t calm his nerves, and when the dark world of the Mafia seems too overwhelming, Reborn is usually there to set him straight. However, little by little, Tsuna’s reliance on his home tutor has been tested. There have been instances where Tsuna has to make decisions on his own and find his own resolve. Going by his gut to make the right choices he needs to make.

Tsuna doesn't have the air of a leader, he isn't confident; he spends more time trying to avoid ordeals than face them. Still, he's a friend first and has everyone's best interest in mind. That's what makes him respected by his friends as well as those who've come to accept him in his journey. Tsuna has much potential for growth, but he is content with enjoying the crazy days while he can.

Abilities/Powers: Dying will flame of the Sky – like most main characters in Reborn canon, each person has a distinct dying will flames that are characterized by the changes of the Sky, such as Storm, Rain, Thunder, Sun, Mist, Cloud and Sky itself. Tsuna possesses the sky flame. In Tsuna's case, his dying will flame visibly shown, whether on his forehead or engulfing his gloves, Tsuna’s flames can be used offensively or defensively. In the form of the x gloves, these gloves can compress his dying will flames making him able to fly and fire long range and devastating attacks. He can also use his gloves to absorb energy and also deflect it with his ice. The sky flames can also be used to activated any box weapon because of the harmonizing effect, still a box opened by a sky flame will never match the full power of box of a certain attribute

Hyper dying will mode- Unlike his Dying will mode that removed external limiters, such as pain nerves, the hyper dying will mode lifts any internal limiters giving Tsuna a new state of awareness. He's more cool and collected, confident as well. Stronger in the sense that he doesn’t rely on his physical strength, but he’s able to use his head and strategize. His endurance is much longer in this form and he’s able to fight without exerting himself too much unlike his more brash form.

Hyper Intuition- Awakened during one his first trials; it is a blood trait that passes through Vongola family. An ability that is said to allow the user “to see through all” this is shown when Tsuna was able to see through Lanchia, and know he wasn’t a bad person. Or even use this ability to find a way to develop his version of the Zero Point Breakthrough.

Items/Weapons:
Released Vongola ring version X gloves- when not in use, the gloves are useless mittens but when Tsuna goes into hyper dying will mode they're transformed in iron gauntlets with impressive attack power. They are able to compress Tsuna's dying will flames to a concentrated and controlled flame.

Dying will pills- to replace the rebuke bullet, Tsuna swallows dying will pills to force himself into hyper dying will mode. Like rebuke bullet it lifts the internal limiters within to give Tsuna a heighten sense of awareness.

Sky Vongola Box Ring - His sky box weapon is activated by his sky flames being ejected within. An animal/object is released in order to aid the user in combat and other uses. In Tsuna’s case, his takes the form a small lion club, Natsu. Natsu can use his roar to harmonize his enemies, stopping them in place. He can also transform into Mantello di Vongola Primo ( Vongola Primo’s mantle) in his cambio form. Cambio form is transformation box weapons undergo to better aid their user. Some box weapons can transform into swords or another type of tool. In Tsuna’s case, Natsu’s cambio form is an impenetrable mantle that deflects flame attacks. With his released Vongola ring form, Natsu can also transform into Mitena di Vongola Primo (Vongola Primo’s gauntlet) sending Primo level attacks such as Burning Axel and Big Bang Axel. Currently, Tsuna’s box weapons takes the form of a ring, since Tsuna and the guardians could not take their box weapons home with them, the Arcobaleno changed them into rings instead.

Sample Entry Two:
Tsuna didn’t want to lead the life of a Mafioso, especially not lead the most influential family of the Mafia, the Vongola. But no matter how hard he protested, or even if he ran away from it all, it always had a way of drawing him in. The brunette mulled over this, looking at the ring in his palm. The weight of the treasure light, but the implications of the small trinket were bigger than even himself. With a history that dates back decades, Ten generations to be exact, sometimes it was hard for Tsuna to believe it could be condensed into something as small as a ring. A prized possession soiled by blood and violence, a position he will have to take on if he indeed took his role as the next Boss. Such a thought always made the young brunette tremble. He didn’t want to be like that, he didn’t want to add to the crimes that were already committed.

He just wanted to live a normal life. Be ordinary. Though if it wasn’t for his ties with the Mafia, Tsuna wouldn’t have met the people who were currently in his life now. Tsuna inspected his ring further; this thing didn’t only bring him enemies and misfortune. It brought him friends, a sense of worth and responsibility. If he hadn’t been selected to be the heir, the humdrum life he was destined for wouldn’t have been as rich as the one he presently held. There were hardships but…they were worth it. He was grateful, and he definitely didn’t want to lose it.

“Then stop slacking.” Once Tsuna had resolved himself, the internal dialogue making the hesitant Boss even more assured of his choices, a kick came to the back of his head. The brunette went down, face hitting the ground with a loud groan and whine. He could feel the small feet of his home tutor’s on his back, standing upon him like a prized kill.

Tsuna sat up on his elbows with a start, his redden face, especially at his nose. Looking over his shoulder at the Hitman, He shouted. “I know, I know! You didn’t have to kick me!”

The Spartan treatment of Reborn never ceased to amaze him. And though he should expect his actions by now, the Arcobaleno always seemed to overwhelm him when his guard was down. Tsuna’s body ached, but he didn’t dwell on the pain too much. He knew what he needed to do now. Plus if he didn’t, he was sure Reborn would torture him until he did.

“Hurry up.” There was another swift kick to his head, Tsuna wasn’t moving fast enough. The boy grimaced, this time he felt the tiny heel dig into his scalp.

“All right!” The Mafioso exclaimed, getting up on to his feet. Tsuna was surprised he even had brain cells left to function with Reborn’s abuse!
