Applications Two

APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED!
The next application opening date is Friday 16th January, 7pm EST.
The next application processing date is Friday 23rd January, 7pm EST.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.

While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

To see what we are looking for:
Canon Characters:
Sample Application (Faith Lehane)
Sample Application (Iroh)

Original Characters:
Sample Application (Mors)
Sample Application (Vera de Barr)
Sample Application (Malkus Iverwelling)

Previous Game History:

Sample Application (Bolin/Discedo)

The old application post can be found here if you would like to look through past accepted applications.

Applications will be open on the following dates (from 7pm EST):
12th-19th December
16th-23rd January

Applications will be processed on the following dates (at 7pm EST):

Personality: Living while knowing that your own brother would inevitably cast you in to the heart of the Abyss where your soul will be torn asunder and you would be erased from existence can have something of an effect on a young woman. With the knowledge of her own complete demise hanging over her head since she was a small child, Lacie grew up lonely, cynical, and somewhat strange- but not without the capacity to love, or to wonder at the world around her.

Lacie doesn't quite seem to belong to the world the way most people do, as if she were a mere spirit floating through life, unattached and unburdened. In fact, she's tried intentionally to free herself of things that bind a person to the world, tried to seal away her emotions. Family. Lovers. Friends. Hobbies. Interests. She treats most people as ghosts, the events happening around her as uninteresting. Because she doesn't want to be interested, she doesn't want to care- it would be pointless. She's going to die.

Because of this, Lacie doesn't seem to concern herself with what happens to her own body. She runs around in the winter time in a summer dress, doesn't seem to notice that she should take care in certain weather, and doesn't even seem to mind getting pregnant by a man who was her caretaker since she was young, a man who, at some points, seems to disturb her more than evoke feelings of affection. Even when beaten and threatened with being sold off to a noble as a trophy, she doesn't bother to even try and fight back for her own safety. Her body is a vessel, one she knows will soon enough be obliterated, and Lacie has used it however she saw fit to do as she desired, not thinking of consequence or danger.

She also doesn't seem to concern herself much with other people's bodies either, really. Most people she doesn't deign to pay much attention to, and if she does, it's likely only for a short time until her interest wanes. Baskervilles chosen by the Abyss possess bodies that are practically immortal, and being surrounded by that sort of person seems to have somewhat dulled her sensibility to human frailness. Though over time she appears to have gained more respect for it, in her younger years she was altogether disrespectful of death, dancing in blood and smiling after killing people who intended to harm Jack and sell her to a noble. Though Lacie didn't bother to try and defend herself when abused by those would-be slavers, she did get serious and have them killed by her Chain once they harmed Jack. So while she is capable of revenge and violence when needed to defend someone she actually does care for, (however whimsically), she doesn't usually bother- and if she kills someone, well, shrug.

Loneliness follows her like a shade that grew darker as she aged, no matter how she acts as if it doesn't affect her. It's a somewhat self-imposed loneliness, but she grew up with only her elder brother and one caretaker as close company, and she has a certain sympathy for loneliness in others. Her ways of dealing with it can be eccentric, but she seems to feel compelled to address it somehow- and in her efforts to ease the loneliness she saw in others, she ended up changing the course of the world's history unknowingly.

In her teenage years when she'd run away from the estate she would often find some other person to attach herself to for a short time, and though she'd often discard that person upon her mood change and return to the estate, she left lasting impressions and even gave the will to live to a young Jack Vessalius. When she detected as a young child that the being in the heart of the Abyss might be lonely, she approached it with twin rabbit dolls, leaving one for it and keeping one herself, helping give birth of the being that would one day become Oz the B-Rabbit, the strongest Chain in the Abyss. Even her most momentous decision, to take part in Levi (then Glen) Baskerville's plan and allow him to impregnate her so that she could give birth in the Abyss, was motivated by a desire to leave the Core of the Abyss a more permanent companion to replace her once she'd died, so it wouldn't be alone anymore.

Eccentric certainly describes Lacie's way of thinking about things around her. Before deciding what she believes, she examines the issue from every angle just to be sure- she tells a young Jack Vessalius that even if you arrive at the same conclusion everyone else did, it's still worth thinking about it rather than blindly accepting what you're told is the truth. She values mental independence and isn't swayed by the opinions or criticisms of others. She has opinions, and voices said opinions, that would shock many- she encourages young mister Jack Vessalius to steal, lie, kill, or even sell his body if he needs money. Conventional morals aren't something Lacie is particularly bound by. At all.

Though she doesn't often comment on it, Lacie also has a good sense for other people's emotions- though not, so much, her own. She's a pretty good liar, straight-faced or smiling, and it seems it's gotten to the point she can even lie to herself. After trying so much to seal away emotions and prepare herself for death, Jack Vessalius, one of her discarded toys from her teenage years of rebellion, showed up at the Baskerville estate four months before she'd be killed, full of love and devotion to her- his reason for living. Over time spent with him at her side, she starts to recognize emotions she'd pushed deep down within herself boiling up inside her once more. Love. Loneliness. But she's already committed to Levi's plan, already too close to her final hours.

Strangely enough, even though her brother points out that if she asked him, Jack would more than happily spirit her away before his ascension to the Glen title, sparring her life, Lacie acknowledges it- but chose not to save herself in that manner. There are various reasons as to why Lacie chose to die- each of them on their own not convincing, but together, apparently convincing enough for her. Her love for her brother, and the desire for him to succeed in what he was chosen to do, something that requires he cast her in to the Abyss as tradition dictates. Her agreement to participate in Levi Baskerville's plan, her pregnancy, and her desire to give the Core of the Abyss something that would give it companionship after she was gone. Her acknowledgement that Children of Misfortune, able to access the Abyss outside the boundaries dictated by reason, were threats to the stability of the world- that she was potentially a threat.

Being resigned to her fate doesn't mean Lacie wants to die, or is even okay with dying. But she accepts that she will die nonetheless. There's a certain liberation in that, and it's lent her that particular way of viewing the world. Like a man waiting for his execution, she's lived each day aware of even the smallest precious thing, able to notice the cruelest things as well as the most beautiful things. Despite the sad fate she's been dealt, she tells her brother that she has never felt unfortunate for having been born marked with red eyes, and she doesn't hate the world for her fate- she loves it despite. Her only regret was that she had begun not just to love the world, but to love people in it- that she had people who would be lonely and sad when she wasn't alive any more.

[personal profile] dilexit 2014-01-15 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
Abilities/Powers: As a member of the Baskerville houshold, Lacie has a contract with a being from her world called a "Chain". As she's not primarily a combatant, we are only shown her Chain once. It takes the form of a shadowy, leporine figure wearing a crown that wields large chains with spikes on the ends to slice and impale those in the physical vicinity of its Contractor. (There is debate in the fandom whether this rabbit Chain is the B-Rabbit, or not. Unfortunately, it remains unconfirmed. For the purpose of play, I'll be assuming it is not B-Rabbit.)

Though it has no effect in game play, as a "Child of Misfortune', born with red eyes and special powers due to the distortion of being near the next head of the Baskerville household, Lacie can enter the Abyss at will, not needing to use a specially prepared Key. The Abyss is a dimension apart governed by a mysterious "Core", that seems to hold sway over the world by somehow controlling the flow of time, departed souls, and the nature of reality. Children of Misfortune can even approach and have an effect on the "core", something that only Glens, the head of the Baskerville family, should be able to do. Theoretically this mean that she could adversely warp the "real" world using this power, in ways unexplained since Lacie never put it to use herself.

Items/Weapons: Lacie will arrive in only this dress, carrying nothing on her person.

Sample Entry Two:

The weight of the chains was heavier than she'd imagined.

Somewhere along the line she'd managed to trick herself in to thinking that nothing could have been heavier than the fate she'd been assigned, and in the acceptance of that fact she'd been granted some relief- some ability to shirk her cloak and find relief in retreat in to the Abyss as a child, retreat in to the outlying towns for a few days with a new pet and a pretend life as a girl, retreat in to her tower to watch the world go by beneath her as a young woman.

A world that had slowly ground to a stop, then quickly rewound in the second in which she seemed frozen, the bated breath before a drop.

Were Children of Misfortune truly cursed? She'd wondered if it was her own cruel fate or defiance of Jack's own that had led to that reunion so close to her own execution even as unfamiliar feelings began to creep back in to the edges of her senses. All the emotions and desires she'd managed to slowly shut away over the years came clawing out of her heart, but instead of a warm, suffusing feeling of awakening, it felt to Lacie as if she were being suffocated from the inside out.

Suffocated by the weight of her choices and the loneliness she'd surrounded herself with as she remembered how to feel- and how to ache.

Yet even with that encroaching darkness, those were simple, happy days. She found herself looking forward to the sight of the third Vessalius son sneaking back on to the Berkserville estates. Found herself watching a change not only in herself, but in her brother Oswald, as he made his first friend. (She knew it was his first- knew how much he'd given up for her, for Glen, to be Glen.) Found herself seeing even a change in Glen. When had it begun? From that very first day that Jack had managed to work his way in under the guise of a foreign musician, find her again- and from the moment Glen had laid his hand on her shoulder, leaning over her, his weight rooting her to the spot as he handed Jack the map that would guide him back time and again in to their lives.

The same Glen that came at night, silent and still up the staircase to her tower room, came every few nights until the blood didn't and they could be confident she was with child- and then it was back to the distance, only the rarest of instances he would touch her. Though it wasn't quite touching, not truly, as more and more of him became covered in tight bandages to keep his body going until he could pass the final Chain to her brother and fade away, pass the mantle of Glen and in doing so, consign her to fall in to the Abyss at Oswald's hand.

It was almost funny, when she thought about it. And she laughed- a small, bitter laugh, just once.

Small things. The comfortable silence when she sat with Jack along the riverbank, knowing he didn't expect a single thing from her and would be grateful for even the smallest of glances. The way she felt a warmth blossoming in her singing voice she didn't think had been there before. The way she remembered how much she loved not just the world itself, but... certain people.

The way her brother seemed so small in her embrace when he said "I'll be lonely when you're gone", quiet words that to her were more like a deafening explosion.

But there were still things she had to do.

The Abyss welcomed her like it always had, bathed her body in a golden light- the same lights she could sometimes see dancing before Oswald's eyes. The light that called and brought all those who belonged to the Baskerville household in to the fold, tied them to it and made them different from other humans- chosen. She walked without truly walking, more like danced on featherlight steps deeper and deeper, as far as she could go before she found it- the being Glan called the core. It was only a shapeless mass with a blurry outline to her, but it moved, and it had some sort of consciousness. She'd known that, when as a child she'd given it one of the two rabbit toys to keep it company.

She had to give it back before the end.

It seemed sad, when she returned the doll. She'd smiled, smoothed her hand over her stomach, and tried to hide her own growing melancholy, wondering and questing for a heartbeat, some sign that the child in her belly might live beyond her, might become a companion for the lonely core of the Abyss, but it was too early for such assurances. Too far along, and Oswald would notice, he wasn't a fool. And too far along, and he wouldn't go through with the ritual, he loved her too much. Killing her would be hard enough, let alone that.

Yet she'd made her choice. She could make it easier.

She could lie to Jack, to spare him the duty he would surely take on to rescue her from her doom. She could go along with Glen's experiments. She could use words to assure her brother could go through with it.

She could pretend she'd been successful at preparing to die, pretend that something inside her wasn't harboring a new, but far too late, desire to live.

The space of time a bated breath takes is not so long at all, but it felt like an eternity to Lacie before the weight began to crush her and time resumed, her memories shattering as the Abyss opened its arms to swallow her.

Her last words were nearly swallowed by the rush of the darkness that awaited the condemned, but judging by his stricken expression, Oswald, no, Glen, now, had heard them.

Good.

Goodbye.

Canon: Fire Emblem: Awakening
Canon Point: Post-chapter 25, aka before the final battle

Background/History: Wikipedia

Note: Morgan is the child of the Avatar and always the opposite gender. This particular Morgan's family will be Robin (mother), Chrom (father), and Lucina (sister). His supports are all ranked A -- no S. Most of his canon history is a big blank for the sake of the player's chosen relationships, so for the most part I won't attempt to delve into his life before amnesia.

personality

[personal profile] memlost 2014-01-15 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: Morgan is a cheerful amnesiac and aspiring tactician. His only memories upon waking up in Chrom's realm are of his mother, to whom he is completely devoted. In spite of this, he is relentlessly optimistic, easygoing, and a fast maker of friends.

His hero worship of Robin leads him to shamelessly pursue the mastery of battlefield tactics, and he is eager to prove himself worthy of her. In his support conversations with her, he attempts to outsmart her three times: once by leading her into a pitfall trap, once by hiding one of her books, and once by beating her in a tactical board game. All three times he is foiled, but the narrow margin by which he loses the board game suggests he is a bright and capable thinker... when his overly unique ideas aren't backfiring on him.

He is a loyal son, perhaps to a fault. There is no way to overstate how intensely devoted he is to Robin; he would run into a pack of Risen (zombies) alone if she told him to, or turn on allies. He wants to be just like her ("Does this make me look like Mother?" he asks as a reclass turns him into a buff shirtless dude) and measures all of his actions and successes by her rule. As far as he's concerned, she can do no wrong and her strategies are always triumphant in the end, regardless of how dire circumstances may seem at any given time. As such, he follows her unwaveringly wherever she may go, requiring no explanation. While he does show affection for his other family (in this case Lucina and Chrom), his inability to remember them may perhaps diminish what dedication he had for them in the past. Even so, he is eager and willing to rebuild those connections.

When he isn't focused on helping his mother and becoming a master tactician, Morgan is a laid-back but enthusiastic kid with an open sense of wonder at the world and a head ready to be filled with new experiences. He sports a smile by default and always has an upbeat greeting waiting for anyone he comes across. Not much can get him down, and when it does happen, he never stays down for long. To (non-sibling) Lucina, he remarks, "There's so much out there to discover, there's no time to get depressed!" He sees only the best potential in everything: his amnesia is freedom from the past, and a war-battered field is just waiting to bloom with flowers once the fighting is done. Morgan is a supreme optimist whose cup is never less than half full.

His good faith in anything and everything coupled with a genuine concern for others makes him an easy friend to just about anyone. A large number of his support conversations involve him attempting to help his friends in some way (non-sib Lucina, Yarne, Cynthia, Kjelle, Noire, Nah), and Yarne claims that "two days after [Morgan] showed up, [he] was already everybody's best friend." The happiness of others makes him happy, and as such he'll go extremely out of his way for the sake of others. In his support conversations with Nah, she tells him that she needs to offer a flower called Naga's bell to her god, but it blooms only once every 200 years under a full moon in "remote, craggy terrain far removed from human settlement". Alone, Morgan manages to find this flower and deliver it to Nah, then tells her that he just happened to stroll upon it by accident... all while covered in a new set of scratches and bruises.

His enthusiasm leads him to play along with just about any potentially new experience, just to see how it goes. Who knows, maybe it could be fun! On the flip side, his eagerness can at times be childish and an imposition on those who could do without the disruption. He isn't hyperactive, per se, but he does have a persistent energy that tends to bore into the affairs of others even when met with resistance. In essence, he does as he pleases. In addition, he sometimes pushes the boundary between honesty and tactlessness by speaking without inhibition. Example: seeing Kjelle naked and saying he thought she'd look like a big side of beef. Neither giving nor taking offense is in his nature, yet he can hand it out unwittingly with his frankness. He can be perhaps too honest, too much of an open book. And dense. A little dense.

Overall, cheerful kid. Super loves his mom. Wants to be a tactician. Amnesia.
memlost: (DO I LOOK LIKE MOTHER IN THIS)

all that other stuff

[personal profile] memlost 2014-01-15 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Abilities/Powers: Following his mother, Morgan will be of the Tactician class and further promoted to a Grandmaster, which makes him a jack of all trades in regards to strength, magic, speed, and so on. The class allows use of both sword and magical tomes (sans dark magic) and a number of skills I will attempt to interpret into non-game terms:

1. Veteran - "Grants the unit 50% more experience while paired with another unit." Learns more quickly in combat by drawing experience from others' examples.
2. Solidarity - "Grants Critical and Critical Dodge +10 to all allies within 3 tiles." Nearby allies will see more opportunities to strike opponents' weak points and dodge blows, whether by Morgan's direction or through his direct intervention... or some invisible aura. Yes.
3. Ignis - "Add Magic/2 when attacking with weapons and Strength/2 when attacking with magic." Morgan's magical ability strengthens his weapons and his physical strength improves his magic. How? Maybe he lights his sword on fire. Maybe he throws his tomes really hard at people while he casts spells. It's a mystery.
4. Rally Spectrum - "Use 'Rally' to grant +4 to all stats to units within three spaces for one turn." Morgan's rallying boosts the overall performance of all allies nearby. Might be his charisma, might be an Oscar-nominated pre-battle speech. Another mystery.
5. Rightful King - "Increases the trigger rate of the unit's skills by 10%." Inherited from Chrom. Lets him use Ignis a little more often. That's it. Thanks, Dad.

Generally speaking, Morgan is a veteran in combat and skilled with both blade and tome magic. He claims to be "one of the weakest guys in camp," but his stats in-game tend to say otherwise no matter who his parents are. He has the innate ability to learn a wide array of skills and weapons given the time -- pretty much anything you can throw at him except pegasi -- which makes him a versatile fighter and decent last-ditch substitute for any role on the field. However, he is most comfortable with sword and tome and will stick to those weapons unless tactics require otherwise.

Items/Weapons: (1) A steel sword, (2) fire tome, and (3) elwind tome. These items will break after a number of uses. The tomes are both low-tier spellbooks through which Morgan channels his wind-based magic. The fire tome lets him cast fire, and the elwind tome lets him cast slightly more powerful wind magic. As the trend among the cast seems to be that tomes are still usable despite their lack of text, I'll stick to that precedent.

Sample Entry: Previous thread.
Sample Entry Two:

When the first signs of dawn break upon the Ylissean army camp, Morgan stuffs a hunk of bear jerky in his mouth and steals away from his tent, a small satchel slung at his side. The camp is still asleep save for a few industrious souls -- like Frederick, whose path Morgan easily avoids, and the unlucky watchmen patrolling the camp, who each get a cheerful morning greeting. Without explanation, Morgan disappears into the woods.

The tallest tree for miles round is thick and sturdy, its growth dense enough for him to climb without feeling the invisible hands of height tugging at his eyes and nerves even 50 feet off the ground. He doesn't have the longest limbs in camp, nor is he the strongest climber, but he makes his way up all the same, branch by branch, until the forest sounds give way to the rustle of leaves in the breeze.

When he reaches the highest branch he dares, Morgan breathes in the cool morning air and sits against the tree's trunk, drawing his satchel up. Parchment, check. Charcoal, check. View, check. The sun creeps out from behind him and kindly exposes every dip in the land by its shadow, which he begins to sketch with a practiced hand. Every tactician knows that a proper understanding of the terrain is the first step to a successful strategy, and so he draws, careful to note every landmark, bend, and slope that might prove useful. Mother could find inspiration in any little thing, after all. This funny boulder could be the key to victory... or that little ditch could hide a trap. Morgan smiles as the ideas tumble around in his head, and the parchment grows black with detail.

As he scratches in one last tree, he hears a semblance of his name from afar. He peers down. A head of white on black robes? That's Mother, all right. Morgan laughs and waves, imagining her expression. Of course she'd be the first to find him -- it's only natural. Without further ado, he stows his new map away and begins his descent. Good-bye, branch. Nice knowing you, tree. He'd stick around longer, but he can't keep Mother waiting. Every moment counts. Who knows what new things she'll teach him today?

Background/History: http://dogsbulletsandcarnage.wikia.com/wiki/DOGS:_Bullets_and_Carnage_Wiki

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dogs_(manga)

But I’ve also provided a written history here because the information available for this character at both of the above links is minimal at best.

The series is based in a dystopian, unnamed European city with three levels: the surface level or the ‘above’, which is the nicest and most habitable with sunlight, trees etc, though it’s still rife with gang violence and other unsavoury happenings; the underground, which is a lot shadier and full of nefarious activity, as well as the ‘sub-human’ districts where genetically modified humans – the remnants of the previous era where body-mod humans were created for fetish reasons – reside; then the ‘below’, who very few have even heard of, and consists of the hellish facility were Giovanni was created and raised.

Giovanni’s earliest memory is of waking up in a large, white, sterile room surrounded by other children, all of whom have no idea who they are or how they came to be there. He ‘awakes’ to find himself in hospital issue-style clothes with a collar bolted into his neck, bearing the number ‘68’ (his test subject number). Shortly after this, a hulking, vaguely humanoid beast with a dog’s head-shaped gasmask enters the room and immediately attacks one of the other children, tearing off his arm, so already we can see that for as far back as he can remember, Giovanni has been exposed to extreme violence and horror. Seconds later, a tall, attractive woman enters the room and demands the beast holds back on attacking, before making a saccharine-sweet address to the children, introducing herself as Angelika Einsturzen and informing them not to worry, an attack from the beast won’t cause them too much harm because they are ‘all such glorious weapons’. She then demands they begin their ‘morning exercises’ by attacking the beast. Unsurprisingly, all the children in the room are incredulous and afraid; they’re just children after all, how are they supposed to defend themselves against a monster like that! But on some unseen command, something passes through their collars which sends most of them into a berserk rage and they literally tear the beast apart (and a host of other such beasts that then enter the room) with their bare hands and teeth, showing that they are far faster and stronger than normal human children, while their minds go blank and only the desire to destroy remains. When it ends, children and beasts both lay scattered all over the floor, some children missing limbs, the beasts all torn apart, everything covered in blood and the majority of the children looking like crazed animals. This – it is determined - is what they are intended for; to become savage living fighting machines.

There is one very big problem with this as far as Giovanni goes; he lacks the abilities of most of the other children. He’s weaker, the bloodlust doesn’t overcome him, and he has little or no desire to tear anything apart. The first report on his physical performance reads: Rejection response level B++. Regenerative ability, pathogen resistance, muscular and skeletal strength, neural activity in unused brain regions: all incomplete. Each and every child in the room Giovanni first ‘woke up’ in is in fact a ‘synthetic life-form’; test-tube babies (clones, copies, several terms are used for them within the manga) created specifically to be highly compatible with that is called the ‘Kerberos Spine’ they all have implanted in their back; the spine seeming to be the source of the blood-lust rage that overtakes them during battle. These spines are designed to resonate and respond to the original spine, named ‘Fuhrer’, making them obedient ‘lapdogs’ to whoever has the original spine implanted, basically creating a ruthless yet controllable army of living weapons who are near impossible to kill thanks to their healing and regenerative ability unless they take major damage to the head (the Rammsteiner series, from which Giovanni’s ‘last name’ is derived). As far as they go, Giovanni is a poor specimen, deemed defective and inefficient.

His early life revolves entirely around very plain and basic meals, some small amount of downtime to play with basic toys, some interaction with the other children outside of their training, sleeping, and then the brutal training itself which involves tearing apart whatever ‘enemies’ are put in front of them as well as weapons training. Giovanni always comes out with the lowest score, is almost killed in most of the exercises, and can mostly be found hiding from or otherwise avoiding the carnage created by the beats and other children alike, something he’s routinely teased about by the other children and brutally mocked for by Angelika (their creator, who they often refer to as ‘mother’) who repeatedly tells him he’s nothing more than worthless trash. He develops a friendship with two of the other children (Heine, the main anti-hero protagonist of the series, and Lily) who generally ensure that he survives each training round. Heine is the most ‘successful’ creation in that he demonstrates an ability to harness the blood-lust rage and utilise it in a controlled way, always coming out with a very high number of kills each round, while Lily is by far the strongest and always has the highest number of kills, but has very poor control over her Kerberos Spine abilities and goes into a blacked-out rage where she will destroy anything and everything, including the other children (she attacks many of them, including Giovanni, in the course of each training session). Heine is the only one able to calm her down and bring her back under control.

As the children grow more aware of what’s happening to them and what they’re intended for, they realise that at some point they are all likely to be destroyed, either consumed by the blood-lust as Lily is beginning to demonstrate and therefore be deemed ‘unfit’ (they need to have control to BE controlled, after all) or when Angelika creates an improved test group series, THEY will become the ‘beasts’ to be destroyed (all the enemies they face during their training are earlier, less successful experiments). They begin to talk about escaping, though each time the subject is brought up – despite the fact that he’s voiced the opinion that he doesn’t belong in such a violent place – Giovanni shows a great deal of reluctance, demonstrating a fear of the outside world and what might be waiting for them out there, as well as a fear of what would happen to them if they were caught. Whenever the plan to escape is brought up, he removes himself from the discussion because it causes him so much anxiety.

Shortly after all the talk of escape really gets underway and just before they execute any kind of plan, they wake up to find themselves in an unfamiliar test room, and to discover that Heine is missing. They are then informed by Angelika’s disembodied voice through the speakers in the room that the selection process is complete, that Heine has been chosen to be a ‘master’ (he can command the rest of them/any army Angelika creates) and that therefore the rest of them are no longer needed. However! Of course she has a heart, she declares, and so whoever of them survive this final test she insists she will ‘love’ (they will get to live) then orders them all to destroy each other. Again, at some unseen command, the blood-lust overcomes them and they begin to rip each other apart, some of them trying to get a hold of themselves and prevent the others from killing each other, to no avail. Giovanni attacks Lily, and when one of the other children sees this happening he demands Giovanni ‘snap out of it’, thinking he has been overcome by the blood-lust from the spine. However, Giovanni is completely in control of his mental faculties and openly declares this, yet he attacks and attempts to kill Lily regardless, voicing a deep jealousy and confusion over how much power all the other children seem to have while he has nothing. Lily - being much stronger than Giovanni – turns the situation around and attacks him, though doesn’t quite kill him. At which point Heine disconnects himself from the ‘Fuhrer’ spine, bursts into the test room and tears Lily apart with his bare hands, ‘saving’ her from the monster she’s become, though not in the way he’d ever wanted or intended. Heine comes round, realises what he’s done, then goes berserk, killing everyone that remains in the immediate vicinity - all the researchers, Angelika’s clone body (she has many ‘spares’ of herself so that she cannot be killed) - and escapes. Giovanni is the only one left barely alive, and is left behind by Heine in the facility.

Cut to the present canon time! Giovanni has finally learned to master the abilities of his Kerberos Spine and can now heal and regenerate etc. As the only remaining living test subject from his batch still in her possession after Heine's escape, Angelika 'modified' Giovanni in order to ensure that he can fully utilise the skills he was intended to develop, but also added an extra 'update'; Giovanni can now take damage to the head (a gunshot, having his skull crushed, anything that will lead to his brain being destroyed) and still regenerate, making him close to unstoppable. Where he’d once been gentle-natured, reticent and fearful, he has now changed completely and displays an enjoyment of violence (referring to fighting and bloodshed etc as ‘fun’ or ‘games’). Loyal to Angelika, he is now one of the antagonists of the series and routinely attacks Heine, sometimes under Angelika’s command (she wants her favourite test subject returned to her and in fact only ‘updated’ Giovanni in an attempt to make him a match for Heine), sometimes for his own personal reasons (which will be discussed in the personality section). Angelika has decided the time has come to launch an attack on both the underground and the ‘above’, wanting to widen her playground (simply to destroy everything etc, her motives are a bit vague) and has readied an army of mindless soldiers which she sends out to cut all train lines running between the above and the underground, launches a full-scale attack on the underground, and then breaks out into the above. Giovanni is charged with going after the mayor of the city (Zollner Neubauten) who resides in the above, and after engaging in a fight with Heine and the other protagonists who’re attempting to drive off the mindless soldier army (and subsequently getting shot in the head, only to demonstrate his regenerative abilities), Giovanni then takes advantage of the explosions they set off (the mindless soldiers have all been programmed to blow up) to break into the above and attack Zollner, who has sent out all his task units to deal with what is essentially a diversion. On his way to meet with Herbst (another antagonist of the series who is capable of mind control and is 'assisting' in the breakout) it is revealed that Giovanni has begun to have blackouts and is slowly losing his memories (it is later revealed in chapters 80 - 82 that this is a side-effect of his 'update'; the brain may be able to regenerate but the stress of it on the body causes cells to slowly deteriorate after regeneration, meaning he may well eventually be left with no memories at all).

After pulling himself together, Giovanni meets with Herbst and the attack on the above begins. However, when Giovanni bursts into Zollner’s building and shoots him in the head, he discovers that – rather than being just an ex-researcher who’d quit Angelika’s research facility and ‘betrayed’ her – he in fact has the original ‘Fuhrer’ spine implanted in his back and therefore regenerates immediately (it's undisclosed whether this will lead to the same negative consequences as seen in Giovanni, or whether Giovanni is 'defective'), swiftly subdues Giovanni (and crushes his skull in order to determine whether the ‘problems’ with his series have been ironed out, wanting to see him regenerate) and informs him he’s clearly more than just a renegade researcher. This is the point from which I’ll be playing him.

Personality: As the history section demonstrates, Giovanni begins life as a timid, fearful and withdrawn child who prefers drawing (though he’s terrible at it!) and other quiet pursuits to the horror and violence he was actually created for. He consistently voices a belief that he doesn’t belong in the facility and is often seen crying/whimpering/cowering away from whatever awful test he and the other children are subjected to (earning him the nickname ‘crybaby Giovanni’ and occasional teasing or disdain from the other children). Because he starts out as a defective specimen, he is constantly berated by his ‘mother’ Angelika, who subjects him to verbal abuse and consistently informs him of his own uselessness. This sparks the beginnings of a deep jealousy and resentment in him that first manifests itself in his attack on Lily during their final brutal test as a group and also demonstrates the beginnings of a shift in his personality.

Little has been revealed in the manga regarding what happened to him between that last test as a child aside from the fact that Angelika modified and 'updated' him in order to make him a more usable weapon, but it is safe to assume that his experiences were a good deal less than pleasant. Angelika keeps him alive only because he is the last remaining subject from that particular batch of the Rammsteiner series, and she needs/wants at least one of them (she's still very disparaging of him despite his modifications, saying things like 'well I didn't expect much from you, anyway' and it's clear she's less than satisfied with him as a specimen). The horror and violence of that final test and the fact that he was abandoned to the research facility by Heine has a deep and traumatic effect on Giovanni (he is repeatedly demonstrated -chapter 33, for example- to continue to dwell on it in the present day) leading him to become dissociated from his softer emotions and detached from everything around him. Clearly, the events of his past make him realise that in order to survive among wolves he has to become one himself, and the jealousy and bitterness he feels towards Heine (the ‘favourite’ child, who also left him behind) and his own sizable inferiority complex drive him to develop control over his own abilities and to become a deadly fighting machine himself (though it’s made clear in chapters 80 - 82 that further genetic tampering/experimentation/fine-tuning is also carried out on Giovanni in order to make him more useful and a better match for Heine, rather than it stemming entirely from his own drive to excel).

Giovanni presents himself as a smoothly violent individual, referring to fighting with Heine and battles in general as ‘fun’ or ‘games’ (when another of the antagonists – Fruhling – first initiates the attacks with the mindless foot soldiers, he says to her “I hear you had a spot of fun”, and frequently taunts Heine with lines like “let’s play” and “let’s have fun together”). He is often depicted smiling or laughing during violent encounters, takes on a suave, care-free - if somewhat manic - personality and appears to take great enjoyment from violence in general, specifically in causing havoc in Heine’s life. His tone of voice is often teasing, and on encountering him in a situation outside of the below, he would seem to be assertive, confident and ruthless.

However, Giovanni is not the kind of antagonist who loves violence merely for its own sake. Instead, his personality and behaviour are constructed from a persistent undercurrent of jealousy and the pervasive (as well as entirely justified) fear that one day he will be disposed of. While Angelika sometimes specifically sends him after Heine in order to bring him back to the facility, he also has a personal vendetta against him, stemming from Heine’s abandonment of him back when he was a child, but also largely because Heine is the ‘superior specimen’, something he continues to be deeply jealous of. He is well aware that one day Angelika is likely to tire of him and kill him off as she is want to do with all her creations – something he probably assumes would be a certainty if she ever DID have Heine in her possession again – and this acts to undermine his self-confidence and self-esteem; he considers himself second-rate, still a defective specimen, and because of this he is always attempting to prove that he is loyal, deadly, and above all useful. Despite the fact that even at the current time Angelika continues to make pointed snipes in regard to his efficiency (she makes it clear she expects him to fail, that he’s still an inferior specimen despite his best efforts) and that her genetic tampering has essentially condemned him to lose all his memories, he clearly wants to please her and wants to attain her approval. His continuing fear of change, of taking control of his own life, and of the outside world is subtly demonstrated in the fact that he makes no attempt to escape from Angelika’s organisation even though he knows he is only a tool (a servant, something owned, a ‘leashed dog’; something he openly recognises and in fact insists to Heine they will both always be as long as they have the collars implanted into their necks) and will one day be deemed disposable. He has spent his entire life taking orders and acting almost entirely under the direction of someone else, which suggests that he still has a lot of uncertainty over how he’d survive in the outside world alone.

As his life revolves around violence and simply surviving the barbaric existence Angelika has pushed him into, it’s safe to say that he has little idea of where his own interests might lie outside of his convoluted personal feud with Heine. He has no real interpersonal relationships outside of his loyalty to his creator and his connection with the others in the below (such as Fruhling, who is also demonstrated to look down on him as he is, essentially, just an 'attack dog', a weapon to be used). He does have two much younger twin 'sisters' named Luki and Noki (presumably new models in the Rammsteiner series seeing as they consider Giovanni their 'brother' and also have collars) who seem fond of him, but his feelings towards them haven't been overtly expanded on (he is seen acting in a friendly way towards them, or giving them orders - such as to pursue Heine - but his feelings aren't discussed). His distance from everyone around him stems in part from the dissociation created between himself and his emotions following the brutal death match of his ‘siblings’ and Heine’s abandonment of him, and in part because he is, essentially, just a weapon - he lacks normal socialisation and his creator and superiors in the below treat him accordingly (a tool, not a friend or even an autonomous person). All in all Giovanni's existence focuses entirely on three things: being the obedient weapon he was intended to be, Heine, and the events of his past. He has nothing else.

Throughout the manga, when away from battle, Giovanni is depicted as being an intensely morose, lonely individual who spends much of his time dwelling on the past and almost entirely cut off from his present (though this is perhaps unsurprising when one considers that he does not have a future; his memories are deteriorating and he is very much aware of this, hence his requesting of Angelika that he be allowed to see Heine ‘one last time’- he knows only death or the erasure of self is likely ahead of him). His feelings towards – and virtual obsession with – Heine are also more complicated than purely bitterness and jealousy; Heine is the only surviving link to his past, the one person still alive who he had shared any level of closeness with and while he in no way expects or even wants a return of this closeness, he still misses Heine deeply (see chapter 33) and has a strong desire for the other man to at least acknowledge his existence. Still, despite his inferiority complex, his desire to please, his abiding fear and his longing for the past, this is not to say that deep down he is still that gentle-natured child who just wants to be liked. In order to survive the horror and violence that is life in the ‘below’, it was essential to become equally violent and ruthless; while he may not be the arrogant, self-confident killing machine he presents himself to be in front of others, he does enjoy fighting and would kill mercilessly if ordered to or if someone stood between him and his goals/the goals set out for him. At least some of his bitterness towards Heine stems from Heine’s desire to suppress his more violent urges and the full potentiality ‘gifted’ to him by his Kerberos Spine. Heine has the potential to be Giovanni’s superior by far, and yet he often holds himself back, not wanting to become the brutal killing machine and to let the ‘dog’ in his spine take over as it did when he unwittingly killed Lily. Because of his own jealousy, his inferiority complex and his desire to push himself to be better, Giovanni finds it hard to comprehend why Heine wouldn’t want to reach his full potential and expresses disdain over his behaviour, referring to him as a stray dog and often trying to provoke him into becoming as violent and ruthless as he knows he’s capable of being (though it's also suggested in chapters 80 - 82 that Giovanni is keen to settle things between him and Heine – it can be inferred that, as he knows he has no future, he wishes to engage in one final battle with Heine, draw the ‘dog’ out of him, and more than likely die ‘properly’ in the process). This acts to demonstrate that this kind of violence and ruthlessness is something Giovanni strives for, that whatever gentleness there was in him has been largely suppressed (and to some extent destroyed) by the harshness of his life in the below. He's damaged certainly, and a product of the life he was forced into, but violence is now so deeply ingrained in him that he's come to enjoy it.

Still, he is never shown to be mindlessly violent without provocation or – importantly - reason, only ever acting under orders and only demonstrating an overt volatility outside of those orders towards Heine. Get in his way or deliberately pick a fight with/aggravate him and he will not hesitate to gun you down, but leave him alone and – unless ordered otherwise – he’ll likely do the same to you in kind.

Abilities/Powers: As a synthetic life-form specifically created to be a living weapon and with the Kerberos Spine implanted in his back - along with his later genetic modifications - Giovanni has a number of abilities, though they’re not clearly defined. He’s physically stronger and faster with superior reflexes when compared with a normal human, he's immune to diseases/illness and is capable of very swift healing (so bullet wounds or knife wounds etc heal within in a matter of seconds). He’s also capable of regeneration (if his limbs are torn off, they will grow back) and as is demonstrated in chapters 45 and 51, he can heal/regenerate even after taking a bullet wound to the head/having his skull crushed. With his powers intact, it’s incredibly difficult to kill him, though certainly not impossible.

Items/Weapons: Two Walther P38 pistols, and ammo

Sample Entry: [It takes him a while to collect himself, to organise his fractured thoughts and make sense (if it can be called that) of what's going on. Confusion still fills his head pressing in hard behind his eyes (he can still see it, hear it; fingers around his head digging into his brain, skull cracking with a c r u n c h that rings so loud it sickens him). This isn't where he's supposed to be and his heart beats loud as a drum in his chest, anxiety knocking hollow against his ribs but he ignores it, pushes it down, swallows it whole.

He's smoothing down his hair, straightening his tie, broken glasses on his face and then he’s reaching for the device he’d found on waking. It takes a little time to get the hang of it; this is technology he doesn’t recognise but his mind is still sharp despite it all, regardless of the splintered parts of it that have fallen away (don’t think about that) and some time spent in exploration of the device and it’s network leads him to think he has the gist of his situation, though it makes little more sense than it had during those first disorientated moments of finding himself stretched out on the bed, slithers of light (too bright, too hot) turning the insides of his eyelids red.

Okay.

Deep breaths.

One two.

Then he's switching on the feed, smiling for the camera, all sharp teeth and the crooked slant of lips like this is nothing, nothing at all, it’s an everyday occurrence (just ignore his rapidly beating heart, the sick twist of fear that won’t go away).

His hair is still matted with blood]

A question, if you will. Where can a man get a decent set of clothes? I seem to have spoiled mine.

[Even at the worst of times, one must maintain the best of priorities]

Sample Entry Two: (this is the starter for a log in one of my other games, let me know if it isn't suitable and I can always write something new!)

They make it too easy, almost. Names and housing listed, places of residence on display like a neon bullseye; it takes a little of the fun out of it. But only a little. It gives him something to do, fills up the minutes the hours the days that tick on by relentlessly while he's trapped here with no real purpose to fulfill no orders to follow no way to get out. It's a pale shadow of the hunt he'd really like, the monotonous litany in his head Heineheineheineheine (it's always about you, it's all for you brother) like a mantra, something thrumming through his bones, through his blood. And all he gets is this lanky redheaded mutt, some poor substitute, the dregs, but right now it's all he has and so it's enough.

He spends a few days tracing his movements, dogging his steps from a distance, letting the anticipation grow in him and the delicious thoughts rising up (what would Heine think, would he care, would he be roused into action if he knew?), flooding through him, giving him meaning. He could have done it right away, it wouldn't have been hard, just follow him down some backstreet and put a bullet in his head, just like that. But he likes the anticipation, likes to feel it growing in him beating hard in his chest stretching wide; it excites him.

But anticipation isn't enough to get him by forever.

So here he is, and it's night, and he's stepping out in front of the man as he makes his way home through the darkness of the backstreets. Hands in pants pockets, posture loose and relaxed, he gives the taller man a smile that hides his teeth, hides the adrenaline building up in him, the itch of fingers and palms and the longing to rip into him to spatter his blood across the walls hold his innards in his hands like so much meat. And with these thoughts in his head, he looks positively genial.

"Hullo, Badou Nails. I suppose it was only a matter of time before we'd run into each other."

Personality: Dave is snarky, sarcastic, and cool. He seems to revel in getting on people's nerves because of he loves to poke fun at people. He also likes the idea of irony so much, it's practically his catchphrase. But he does have a slight hatred towards puppets, because they creep him out and made him lose his cool at one point. When he joined the game named Sburb with his friends, he was expecting some kind of cool game that he excelled at. It was completely ironic that this wasn't the case.

But in a more serious manner, he has his own doubts which are masked by his ice-cool exterior, like dealing with the fact about his fate of himself and his friends, and not wanting to lose them. He also has been shown to care about Rose Lalonde, his sister, his best friend John Egbert, and to an extent, his patron troll, Terezi Pyrope.

Despite his initial confrontation with the trolls, he eventually comes to a mutual agreement with Karkat Vantas, and he admits that he and Karkat aren't really that different in some ways. But he still hasn't lost his snarky demanor and won't hesitate to call his friends out about their flaws, though.

Abilities/Powers: Dave has the ability to manipulate time, seeing how he is the Knight of Time, and he is very skilled in the art of swordplay.

Items/Weapons: Sunglasses, a katana, and a laptop.

Sample Entry: http://dear-mun.dreamwidth.org/8936441.html

Sample Entry Two: "Well, home sweet home," A young man wearing sunglasses walked around, looking at the area. The place seemed desolate and bleak as hell. It reminded him of a place somewhere in Sburb that almost looked the same. Almost. "Looks like Hurricane Egbert blew through here." Dave Strider joked as he kept walking around, scanning for any signs of life. He had this feeling that something was around, watching him. "Shit..." He murmured softly to himself as he reached for the handle of his blade.

A roar can be heard as something charged towards Dave, who quickly unsheathed his katana and slipped to the side, slashing at the beast. The monster let out a bellow and slashed at the offender. The knight of time barely avoided the attack, which would've took his head clean off had he not used his time powers to place himself in slo-mo mode. Dave then ran towards the monster, raising his blade, and jumped into the air. The monster had little time to react before its vision went black and it saw no more.

"Goddamn, this place is a barrel full of irony." Dave removed his blade from the dead monster and flicked the blood off. "I wonder where the rest of the gang is at? Or maybe I'm the only one around here. Either way, I'm not gonna find the answer around here." He then headed off to look around some more.

Personality:
Pretty, kind, smart, strong... perfect. That's what people always say about Cordelia. A talented pegasus knight who is good at everything she does, and is loved by everyone. Cordelia is someone whose daughter, Severa, can never measure up to.

Severa is completely overshadowed by her mother's legacy, and she absolutely hates it. She's developed a sort of inferiority complex as a result, and is constantly comparing herself to her mother as well as others. She works her hardest to be seen at least as good as Cordelia, but feels as if she'll never truly measure up. Even with complete strangers, Severa ends up measuring their abilities against herself, whether she has any experience with the subject or not. It's driven her to be needlessly competitive.

Severa tries to cope by removing herself as far from Cordelia's image as possible. She took up a sword instead of the signature lance of the pegasus knights, and, where her mother would be kind, she instead defaults to rudeness. So used to picking out her own flaws, Severa also picks out the flaws of others and is quick to blame anyone but herself for her failures. She's highly emotional and often explosive, her temper a hair trigger. She uses mean words to hide her own low self esteem, trying to take others down a peg to hopefully feel better about herself. It doesn't actually work, as she knows deep down that she's really just easily jealous of others. She especially hates being around upbeat, happy people, likely because they're everything she can't be, thanks to her self hatred.

When she does have successes, Severa is not at all modest like her mother would be. She's quick to sing her own praises when she can, in the hope that her good points won't be overlooked by others. She doesn't want people to forget what things she can actually do well, so she often comes off as vain and elitist. She's also very conscious of the way she looks, and tends to overspend at shops. Severa is all about retail therapy... especially if she's using someone else's money. In fact, if she can get someone else to do something for her, she's always going to take the opportunity. She can dial back the attitude and sprinkle someone with compliments, or even demand the other person prove that they care about her.

She's more self aware than she may seem, which only fuels her feelings of inferiority. She calls herself "snarky", but knows very well that others find her to be needlessly a jerk. She isolates herself at times, as well as being quick to run away after getting too upset. But she does care about her friends, even if she has difficulty showing it and can often be needlessly abrasive with them. There are times when Severa is openly honest with her feelings, as few and far in between they may be.

Severa may be mean, but she's not cruel. She's not out to really hurt people, and if she does go too far she will actually try to fix her mistake, such as pep talking a depressed Owain who took her words a little too personally. She's also not one to kick someone while they're down; she'd much rather punch up, at the people who can take it. She doesn't pick on the weak or helpless, and in fact will go out of her way to help someone who's in real trouble. This is especially apparent with Noire, who she treats much differently than she does others, because she believes the girl already goes through enough trouble without her adding onto it.

In the end, Severa truthfully doesn't hold anything against her mother, despite wanting to blame her own failings on her. She really does want to be more like Cordelia, but feels as though it's impossible for her. Her relationship with her mother is rocky, but it's because she's afraid she's really not good enough to be Cordelia's daughter.

Abilities/Powers:
Severa's class is currently Hero, an upgraded version of her base class Mercenary. This basically just means that she has the ability to wield both swords and axes, as well as affecting her stats. As a Hero, Severa is well balanced, with high attack power and defense. She hits hard, as well as being able to take a hit herself. Her class also affects her skillset.

All units in FE:A, including Severa, have certain skills, which are just game mechanics, but some can be translated to RP. Severa's skillset currently is Armsthrift, Patience, Rally Speed, Sol, and Axebreaker.

Armsthrift - Attack without expending a weapon use. Unfortunately, this doesn't translate well to RP, as Severa's weapon probably isn't going to spontaneously shatter in her hands.

Patience - Grants extra Hit/Avoidance when the unit is under attack. So, if Severa is the one under attack from someone else, she can have better reaction time to dodge and counter.

Rally Speed - Grants extra speed to nearby allies for one turn. She's not too bad at uplifting people if she feels the need for it, so likely this can be taken as her taking some time out of a fight to boost her allies' morale.

Sol - Absorbs HP equal to half damage dealt. Basically a successful strike will sometimes heal her up a bit.

Axebreaker - Grants extra Hit/Avoidance when the enemy is using an axe. Severa has enough experience against axes that she can deal with them better in a fight.

Items/Weapons:
-steel sword
-steel axe
-her mother's ring

Sample Entry: Test drive post & comments
Sample Entry Two:
Scavenging is a lot like shopping, but the benefit of not having to spend any money is largely outweighed by the much lower quality of goods in Haven. Severa hadn't found any new clothes worth wearing at all, make up was so scarce it had to be shared, and, though methods of preserving food were more advanced than what she knew, she still hadn't had a decent meal in a long time. Her hair was constantly out of place, her skin dry and blotchy, her clothes stained and often soaked through with sweat. It was disastrous, really. How could she be expected to keep herself together without at least a minimal amount of upkeep?

That's why she's been volunteering to go on more supply runs, lately. Severa retained her bad habit of returning with an excess of what was really needed, but it really wasn't much compared to her supply runs for the Shepherds. Most of what extra things she did manage to find were broken or unusable, and bringing them back anyway was doing little more than cluttering up her side of her room.

It wasn't as though Severa was a stranger to the loss of luxury. In many ways, Haven reminded her of the desolate future from which she ran what feels like so long ago now. She revisits that future often, when she's alone, still worried for the past that she traveled to. Worried that the same would come to pass, and that nothing could be changed. Times were just as hard, then, her appearance suffering for it just as much.

Well, it didn't have to suffer quite so badly. Severa catches sight of a mirror in the abandoned store -- small, and slightly cracked, but better than nothing. She looks herself over, running her hand through her pigtails a few times, trying to undo the damage that had been done over time. She may be going through more hard times, but she didn't have to entirely look the part. A little effort goes a long way, and she may never be quite as well-kept as she'd like as long as she's in Haven, but it won't be for lack of trying.

For anyone who meets Noki for the first time - she’ll either come off as an eccentric serial killer, or a very childish little girl. Neither of these impressions are wrong, really! Noki was born and raised to become a killer, thinks of it as nothing more than a game and often plays with her targets like a child would their toys. Even though she is quite skilled at what she was raised to do - she is still a child herself, and it shows.

Noki childishly plays with her enemies, she addresses those closest to her mainly as “big brother”, and “big sister” -- even when there aren’t any real familial ties between them. Anyone who has undergone the same treatment as they had, been born the same way - is automatically regarded as a sibling. Whilst not everyone gets the same sort of title, Noki also refers to Badou ( someone completely unrelated ) in the same manner! Less important and less “fun” others get names like “Mr. Pig”. When told strictly not to do something, she and Luki, her twin sister, decide it’s perfectly fine to do it - as long as they only do it a little! Playing only a little is fine, it’s when it’s no longer a little that it becomes not okay. When she knows to come back, that she’ll get punished otherwise -- Noki decides that the thought of punishment is too much and runs away to stay with someone who definitely does not want her and Luki to be there.

Still, Noki is mature enough to know her limits. She knows that it’s perfectly okay to shoot Heine full of holes because he’ll just regenerate anyway. On the contrary, she knows that it is not okay to play with Nill, someone who is not equipped with the Spine, in that way. There is a large difference between normal humans and those like her, and she acknowledges it. Uses it to her advantage in many occasions as well - because while Heine would love to “play” with them, he definitely would not want to play with Nill close by. Nill also genuinely interests her! Because Nill has wings; she’s a genuine angel, and despite Noki also being the result of genetic alterations, she doesn’t seem too familiar ( or at least, aware of ) with the other sort, the sort that resulted in Nill.

While she does happily play the part of a child ( coloring and doodling those whom she considers close, stopping in the middle of a battle to cry loudly over her prosthetic arm being broken, calling Luki fat for landing before her during a race ), that part of her that screams killer definitely has a noticeable presence.

Even though they’re “owned” by Einstürzen, Luki and Noki do tend to run off to “play” frequently - whether it’s with Heine, or playing a game of bounty hunter. They make a game of it, telling their targets to run because they’re going to play a game of tag with them. Even while it may seem like Noki’s shooting haphazardly whilst chasing her targets -- she’s playing with them, missing on purpose so she can watch them run even more. Because it’s fun, watching her enemies squirm. Just like it’s fun, shooting Heine full of holes and being given the same treatment in return. Really, to her, it’s nothing more than a fun game played between siblings - even if Heine is opposing Einstürzen and going against the plans she’s set in motion.

It should also be noted that, when Noki gets pushed to the edge - she loses all sense of reasoning, becomes nothing more than a beast clawing it’s way out of a dangerous situation -- even if that means clawing out the throats of whomever happens to be close by. However! Given her years of training and building up endurance, Noki doesn’t lose control very often; she’s well accustomed to being ripped into shreds and doesn’t show much of a reaction to it. It take a lot of mental stress to push her that far.

Abilities/Powers:
Noki was created for the sole purpose of being used as a genetic experiment. Born in a test tube, given the Kerberus Spine, and raised in an underground lab -- she’s definitely more skilled than any normal girl her age.

With the Kerberus Spine attached to the back of her neck, she has enhanced speed, strength, and heals from most wounds within seconds. She can easily handle being shot multiple times, slashed up, and can even regenerate a limb if it’s lost. It does still hurt, of course! But because of how often she does find herself full of bullet holes and large gashes, her tolerance for pain is rather high also. Shooting her through the head is still an effective way to kill her, though! I mean, if someone really wanted to.

Her left arm is a prosthetic, which can transform into a very large gun whenever she wants it to. Unnnlike the rest of her, this part is prone to breaking and it’s doubtful whether or not she can mend it.

She’s very skilled at fighting, too! Hand to hand, with weapons, with one arm ripped to shreds -- with most her body ripped to shreds - Noki’ll keep fighting until the end. Unless, of course, her prosthetic arm is ripped to shreds and she’s under threat of making one of her superiors angry. She’s not as good on her feet as some - but Noki is fast and very durable.

Items/Weapons: Noki will be arriving with nothing but herself and the clothes on her back!
