Applications Two

APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED!
The next application opening date is Friday 16th January, 7pm EST.
The next application processing date is Friday 23rd January, 7pm EST.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.

While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

To see what we are looking for:

Re: Kurapika | Hunter x Hunter | expired reserve

[personal profile] chainedbythepast 2014-01-30 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality: On the outside, he seems calm and collected, speaking in a proper, polite manner to most people. While he can be truly calm at times, he is not as in control of himself as he would like to seem. Kurapika is actually quite emotional, especially when it comes to certain subjects. However, because of his past, he has intentionally closed himself off from others, not intending to form any lasting bonds or friendship. It can be accurately assumed that he managed to keep that up from the time of the Kurta clan massacre until a bit after meeting the main character in canon.

As much as he tried to stay distant from others, truly good-hearted people can inadvertently get under his 'defenses'; he can't help but like such people, showing interest if only in an observant manner. In this way, he ends up much closer to the main character than he initially intended. This also lets him see the good sides of the other two main characters, bringing about a result he wished to avoid: having friends once more, people he knew better than 'acquaintances'. People he cares for, who also care about him in return.

With the goal of achieving vengeance for his people, he can be incredibly single-minded when he hears anything about the Phantom Troupe or the Scarlet Eyes. This is dangerous to both himself and others, as he can get so emotional that he will act rashly, refusing to listen to reason; he's even mentioned that seeing an actual normal spider can cause him to react similarly, even though he knows better.

While he is determined and unforgiving when it comes to the Phantom Troupe, he has expressed stern, yet almost naive, opinions regarding the Hunter profession being a respectable, upright, just kind of job... despite the fact that he, himself, accepts that he will have to become a Hunter of the almost opposite type in order to obtain both the information he needs to hunt the Troupe down, and the money to regain all the stolen Scarlet Eyes of his clan. He is very idealistic, yet forces himself to push aside his morals and childhood dreams; the need for taking down those 'spiders' is the main thing in his mind now, to the point that he doesn't think at all about what, if anything, he may do after this goal is achieved. The need for vengeance, to let his people feel at peace in whatever afterlife there may be, is the one and only thing that has driven him for years.

Even then, once he has one of the Troupe members chained up, he doesn't immediately kill them--he demands answers, demands to know just why they can continue murdering so ruthlessly. But though he is so focused on taking down the entire Troupe, to the point that he risks his own life without any hesitance, he does not like having to kill. After the fact, he expressed true, deep disgust for the act, unable to comprehend how anyone could enjoy it.

Underneath the polite distance he uses on others, a honestly loyal friend can be found. Once befriended, he will do a lot for you, even at the cost of his own goals; this was proven when he let the leader of the Troupe go in exchange for the release of two of the other main characters. He didn't want them involved in his troubles at all, honestly, but as they ended up encountering members of the Troupe by their own volition, he had to accept their involvement. He expressed shock and dismay about the fact; even with his desperation for vengeance, he believes that only he needs to be at risk. Kurapika already lost too many people close to him, after all...

Abilities/Powers:
Physical ability/endurance enough to pass the Hunter Exam, which is incredibly difficult to pass(most applicants drop out at the early stages, or advance enough to encounter grave injury/death).
Skilled with wielding a pair of short wooden swords, and some form of martial arts.
Particularly high intelligence, having shown knowledge of many varied topics, and the capability to form detailed, complicated plans & strategies.
Nen: Similar to Ki/Chi, abilities with your own aura. The basics of using it focus on manipulating it within or in the immediate range of your own body, while advanced techniques allow for it to expand further, being used in other ways.
The basics are Ten, keeping your aura close to your body and not losing energy unnecessarily; Zetsu, suppressing your aura entirely, leaving it impossible to detect; Ren, producing an excess of aura around oneself for the use of offense and quicker activation of skills. Hatsu, the final basic technique, is letting part of your aura go, to form something or perform a specific action. This isn't something that can be taught, however, as it tends to be different for each person. The 'advanced' techniques are more accurately mixtures of the 'basic' ones. While it's likely that Kurapika knows and can use all of them, the one relevant technique is In. In, an advanced, extreme form of Zetsu, lets him make his chains invisible; in this way, he can trap an enemy without them noticing. However, it's not impossible to detect if the enemy uses another advanced technique, Gyo.
Nen also has categories that users fall under: Enhancer, Transmuter, Conjurer, Emitter, Manipulator, and Specialist. The abilities each have are more or less what you'd expect from the title, except for Specialist. Specialists are different from most, their abilities tending to not fit in any of the other categories.

For Kurapika, who is in the category of Conjurer, he chose to focus his Nen into forming chains. Chains made of Nen, hard to break; but that's not all there is to them. By giving himself strict limitations on some abilities, he increases the power of them many times over. He has five different chains, connected to rings on each finger of his right hand, and each one has a different ability/purpose:
  1. Judgment Chain: To start with explaining this one is only proper, as it is how he set his limitations to increase the strength of his chains. On his little finger, this chain ends with a small blade. When used, it strikes the target, entering their body and immediately wrapping around their heart itself. Like this, Kurapika can then set conditions that, if broken, will cause the chain to tighten around the heart, crushing it. In a truly risky decision, he used this on himself. The condition he set for that usage was to make the chain on his middle finger incredibly stronger, but with the limitation that he can only use it on the members of the Phantom Troupe. If he ever uses that chain on someone else, he will die.
  2. Chain Jail: Next to explain is this one, the chain connected to his middle finger. Only usable on 'spiders', the members of the Phantom Troupe, it is a nearly unbreakable chain that confines the target. Furthermore, it's effect on the target forces them to enter a 'Zetsu' state, unable to use any Nen abilities, leaving the target with the only option of trying to break free with their physical strength. The chances of that are low, however, as the physically strongest member of the Troupe was unable to do so.
  3. Dowsing Chain: As the name implies, it can be used for dowsing; however, with how this chain ends with a metal ball, it is useful in other ways, too. Wielding it as a weapon or to use for defense, this one is unrestricted; but, because of that, it's not as strong. It's on his ring finger.
  4. Holy Chain: A chain that ends with a cross, used by his thumb. It's purpose is to heal injuries, but as Kurapika's natural alignment is Conjurer, not Enhancer, the healing effects are minimal... in most cases. The exception is when he uses 'Emperor Time'.
  5. It's unknown what ability or purpose the chain on his index finger has, because no form of the canon has yet to have Kurapika use it.
Emperor Time: having learnt to activate his Scarlet Eyes on purpose, the fact that his powers and abilities change while in that state became evident. When he is in this state, his Nen alignment changes from Conjurer to Specialist, meaning he can use skills from any other category with better effect than he would otherwise. However, he cannot keep up this state for extended periods of time, as it tires him out more quickly.

Scarlet Eyes: being the last survivor of the Kurta clan, he possesses this particular trait. When experiencing any strong emotion, his eyes turn a vivid red. Even before learning Nen, this was noteworthy; when his eyes are red, he has greater strength, something that was true for all of the Kurta.

Items/Weapons: His clothing, a set of contact lenses(to hide his eye color), the earring in his left ear

Sample Entry:
[He saw red.

...No, not literally; even when his eyes appear scarlet, his vision isn't changed like that. But in his rage, in the overwhelming emotions running through him, his sight was perceived that way by his mind for some moments.

And yet, that was still a deeper red, standing out illogically. The sick sounds, the color... the disgusting scent of iron filled his senses, and he could feel that some of it splattered onto his face.

It's foul, every detail of this! Kurapika grit his teeth, frustrated and too angry.

'How can anyone enjoy this?'

He'll never understand.]

Sample Entry Two:
Promises are made to be kept, and he's never broken a promise. To return there, to bring someone that can heal his friend; to tell them he had fun, just like the stories in that book described. Yet... he will never be able to do so. The news faded into static in his ears, the meaningless drone of the TV continuing on--the important thing was already heard.

All of them. Every single person in his clan. Gone. With time, the deeper details, how horribly they had been handled before the end, were known to him. Along with that, who was responsible... no, what was responsible for that massacre. The 'spiders'. What kind of people are in the outside world, he understood what the elder had been trying to keep everyone safe from--but too late, far too late. Not that his presence would have changed a thing!

What can he do? What would they want him to do? Filled with sorrow and regret, the frustration at the lack of power he has, there was only one possible answer in his mind.
'They need to be stopped.'
So that something this tragic won't happen again, he will endure any hardship, any trial. To gain the strength needed, the capability to fight--and win.

...Because they can't possibly be resting in peace like this. To relieve their spirits, to let all of them be whole once more, as they have been. It doesn't matter what happens to him, how far he must fall to achieve these goals; he is the only person who can, who will.

Background/History: In a world where both monsters and men live amongst each other is the Kingdom of Deluxia. While both don't often get along, they do coexist fairly peacefully all things considered. Or...they did. Recently, however, the monsters have become much more violent, attacking and killing humans they come in contact with. With the kingdom in a state of unrest and the once loyal knights turning against the royal family, Princess Solange is forced to take up the holy sword, The DeLuxcalibur, and fight to restore balance. She gains quite a few party members along the way, one of which is Sister Hel.

The party first encounters Sister Hel while passing through an orphanage. She is seen outside of the building, fighting off a legion of monsters trying to get into the orphanage. With the combined help of Solange and her party, the battle nun is able to defeat the monsters so the children can have a clear pathway to the village elder.

Thanking them for their help, Sister Hel offers to exorcise one of the party members (Lady Zozo), mistaking her for a zombie and assuming that's why they came to see her. She backed off soon enough after that was proven to not be the case, but ultimately the good sister was at least a bit wary of her still. Another wave of enemies attack, which all get slaughtered by Our Heroes, and then the party and Sister Hel begins conversing. They tell her about their plan to destroy the Empyrean Stone, which was causing all the monster attacks, but she vehemently objects to it, saying that the stone is not only a sacred relic given to the world by the gods and that destroying it would be blasphemy, but that it is also the source of all the world's magic. However, Solange is able to convince to rethink things, which causes her to join the party.

Soon afterwards the party heads to the Tower of Wrenne, where the stone lies, so that they can destroy it. After fighting their way to the top and encountering the stone they take a literal swing at destroying it. However, their attacks prove to be useless. It is at this point that Sister Hel remembers that the stone can only be destroyed by something not made by human hands. Solange suggests The DeLuxcalibur, which was supposedly forged by the gods themselves. She seems to think that it should work, but before she can strike the stone one of Queen Distiny's (the one behind all the monster attacks) most powerful generals, Joe the Liongate, shows up to intercept the party. They engage in battle, which reveals that General Liongate is merely a possessed Schwartz, Solange's brother.

After defeating the Guardian Code that was possessing him, the party finds that he joined up with Distiny's army by choice, so that he could find out what she was up to. As it turns out, Distiny is really the fallen angel Distille and she's planning on enacting her revenge. The party reveals their plan to destroy the stone to Schwartz, but he, like Sister Hel once did, refuses to. He tells them that they need to kill Distille in order to fix things. Solange sides with her brother, but before they can leave the stone begins to glow, getting ready to summon up another round of monsters. The party gets caught in the blast of energy it creates, causing them to be spread around the kingdom much like the monsters were.

Personality: At first glance Sister Hel might seem like your stereotypical nun. She's devote to her faith, loyal, and strict to the point of sounding like a nanny. That isn't to say she isn't loving and caring like a nun should be, because she is, but that is a trait best saved for the children in her orphanage and close friends, usually women. She's much harder on men than women, often telling them to walk off their minor injuries or to stop flirting. That isn't to say that she can't be strict or harsh with a woman, just that men get on her bad side much more easily. Which isn't all that hard, really, seeing as she has a bit of a temper.

Her main job, as far as she is concerned, is to be a guardian and a role model. She can't very well let those men be idiots when work needs to be done! Nor can she go around acting all soft and loving when there are monsters in need of smiting. And yes, you read that right: "monsters in need of smiting". This nun isn't just your average caretaker of an orphanage, she's also a capable warrior. Protecting the orphanage and the children inside of it is her main duty, and as such she has to know how to fight off what might cause them harm. And hey, someone has to cleanse those monsters of their sinful ways, and what better way to do that than smiting? None, surely.

...though that leads into a bit of a problem; she REALLY likes smiting. During battle Sister Hel is prone to laughing gleefully while fighting enemies, and in one scene, after her and the rest of the group have just finished slaying a legion of the undead, she bursts out into a fit of laughter and proudly proclaims that she loves watching evil souls burn. Guess you could say the concept of damnation is right up her alley. Let those sinners burn!

However, it's not that simple. When the party first meets her and discusses their plans with her, she tells them that they shouldn't destroy the source of all the world's magic since it was a gift from the gods. Furthermore, she scolds them by saying that they shouldn't try to solve all their problems with violence. Weird, right? She loves smiting! But, in a way it does make sense. See, while Sister has no problems fighting obviously evil people and creature, or those who are misled by an evil force, she's doing this for the greater good. If a person wishes to repent, or shows that they aren't as bad as she first thought (like Lady Zozo, whom she thought was a zombie) she won't turn them away. May the gods have mercy on whoever is unrepentant of their actions, though, because she certainly won't.

While Sister Hel is extremely strict and devoted to her cause, that isn't to say she can't change her tune or ponder what the right course of action is. For example, at first she thought destroying the Empyrean Stone would be a sin and was completely against it, but after she found out what Queen Distiny was doing with it, and that it was more akin to a curse than a gift, she changed her mind and decided to join the group. Sure, she'd be leaving her post, but the children were already safe with the elder and if the monsters weren't stopped staying with them wouldn't matter. Getting to the root of the problem was the most important thing and she realized this.

All in all, while Sister Hel will never stop putting her faith in the gods (and they are proven to exist in her world), she can question herself and what she believes is right at times to adapt for the greater good. She might be strict, she may love fighting, she may yell a lot thanks to her short temper, but when push comes to shove she has a good heart and wants nothing more than to do the right thing. Of course sometimes making the right call isn't always easy...

Abilities/Powers: Sister Hel is a proficient warrior and user of magic, so I'll just post her abilities here.

She can:

- Create various protective barriers that ward off any hostiles for a limited amount of time. While these can stack, up to about five, they also drain a fair bit of her mana (which regenerates slowly over time) and as they push enemies away from her the barriers render her unable to strike back unless she uses one of her few long range options.

- Create a large magic circle around herself to heal those around her and herself, or to restore her and others' mana.

- Shoot a powerful laser from the tip of her mace that knocks enemies backwards and stuns them for a few seconds.

- Send out a small shockwave to strike the enemy by waving her shield forward.

- Perform a super strong mace swing by raising her weapon in the air, having it be blessed/empowered by the gods, then slamming it down upon the enemy.

- Perform exorcisms and/or bless evil members of the undead (think zombies or skeletons) so they can no longer regenerate thanks to the light of the gods.

As far as magical/holy abilities go that's pretty much it. She's also quite strong, able to lift and swing around a massive mace and shield wearing heavy body armor with ease.

Items/Weapons: Her clothes (including armor), her shield, and her mace.
Sample Entry: Entry 1 and 2.
Sample Entry Two:

"Ah..."

A low moan escapes from the mouth of Sister Hel as she begins to stir. Upon coming to, the nun notices immediately that she's covered in a fair amount of rubble. Some parts of a broken down building it would seem. Instinctively she reaches for her mace and shield, glancing around the area. A wave of relief comes over her once she's able to locate her trusty weapons, but her memory is a bit fuzzy. She shifts through the dust and stone on her body, pushing off the larger bits and tossing them aside before sitting up. Just about every part of her body is sore. It's tempting to lay back down, but this is neither the time nor the place.

With a better look at the area around her, she stares at the ruined remains of Haven. Even though she can feel her memory start to return, nothing about this place seems familiar. It certainly doesn't look like Deluxia or anywhere around the kingdom. Is this where she landed?

"I couldn't have gone this far...wherever this is. The stone should have only sent us around Deluxia..."

Yet it seemed like this was the case. Grabbing her shield and mace to use as support, she got up slowly from her position on the pile and stood, albeit unsteadily on her own two feet. A few cautious steps reveal that her legs are more or less fine, so with little else to worry about she makes her way deeper into the ruined city.

abel nightroad - trinity blood - no reserve

[personal profile] chhabeela 2014-01-31 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
Previous Game History: Abel is being ported from [community profile] mayfield_rpg, where he resided for a little more than a year as the 'father' of his house on Albright Lane.

The very nature of the town itself was something of a great factor in his growth; considering his lifestyle in the Trinity Blood world, having a 'normal' job in a 'normal' town, being separated from obligation and responsibility as a member of the church -- and thus no longer having any guidance from his superiors was a rather big deal. From his childhood to the present at the age of 977, he had never had the chance to languish and understand what it was to simply be a man separated from the duties and expectations others set on his shoulders, or told how to reach his goals by those he came to rely on and trust whole-heartedly. To be honest, he was more than slightly lost without it -- especially when the repeated events and traumatic incidents that hit his family and friends hard were things he could not protect them from, meaning he was helpless and nothing but a man as they endured their trials.

One of the most influential points Mayfield offered was one that existed right from the start -- when Abel woke up in town, he did so under the very same house as his partner, Esther Blanchett, and his twin brother (who had been deceased in Abel's timeline for centuries), aged down to an innocent ten year old and ignorant of his horrible future. His life was something of a 'second chance' in so many ways -- he was able to see his precious brother again, to be the sibling he felt he had failed to be the first time around -- and to try to protect and make him happy in repentance for the sins he had not yet transgressed in Cain's memory. This was obviously a huge adjustment for both of them, and there were a great many pitfalls along the way -- but inevitably despite their age gap, both of them were tied together even more tightly than ever before. Abel began to understand his brother in a way he hadn't ever been given the opportunity to when growing up beside him... and Cain was gifted with the brotherly love he had always wanted but was denied by his distant and angry twin. This time was nothing short of precious to both of them and something they would never forget, even if it was wrought with pain and tears as well as contentment and affection.

His relationship with Esther also changed and mutated over the course of their time in the town; because the nature of Mayfield was to make a man, no matter his physical strength or otherworldly ability, completely helpless and no more powerful than an infant, he and his partner were left on a surprisingly even field. Abel was unused to this -- the power of Crusnik and his promise to his dead soulmate meant that he was always the masochistic protector of man, the one who had the strength at his fingertips to do whatever it took to save those around him. He was used to being at the top of the food chain... But failing time and time again to accomplish things that would have weighed in his favor at home was a major blow. Esther began to teach him that it was alright to rely on others -- to fight and trust his comrades, and to stop seeing every scratch and bruise as a personal failure, to let it defeat him. Learning to trust his friends and to walk a path with others, not so alone -- to trust her in particular -- was a giant milestone.

Alongside his relationships with Cain and Esther, there were others that memorably touched and affected him -- especially Charles and Ciel, both from worlds other than Abel's own. Both became close enough to be considered something like family in his eyes, similar to the bond he has with his comrades at home; they fought side-by-side, and in times of duress -- it was them Abel inevitably could turn to. This was the first time that he was gifted with the ability to make 'friendships' outside of those born of a direct relationship with the Vatican or 'work'; these people may share a town with him, but there was nothing dictating their closeness otherwise. Even so... in a sign of how far his friendships with them progressed, it was Ciel, Charles, Cain and Esther who attended the very first birthday party he ever had thrown in his name by 'humans.' There are no words to describe how memorable and deeply profound this was to him, a show of what it was truly like to be 'loved' not for any grandiose or wordy thing, but... for simply being 'Abel.'

It was gaining that sort of closeness with Charles that seemed remarkable despite his prickly demeanor that meant worlds to him; it gave him hope and faith in his ability to comfort and protect others not as the monster and sinner, but the man -- even if that man still had a heavy penance to pay. Likewise... it was learning what it was to be a 'man' to a 'woman' who inspired far too much contentment in a soul he believes deserved the distinct lack of it that moved him so greatly; Ciel is an amazing influence... causing him to question the path his life has been on and his most masochistic tendencies. She is softening the edges of a self-loathing that's existed for centuries, giving him hope and belief in the prospect that, perhaps.. perhaps he could learn to be happy through the happiness of others, inspired not as a protector or any grand thing -- but by being himself, and the comfort he can offer as nothing more than a normal and simple-minded human being.

Not all development has been positive. He has taken significant hits in his insecurities and fears; Mayfield's events were often horrific and traumatizing, and while Abel was not personally subjected to much of its tortures firsthand, watching those around him suffer bred the feeling of uselessness and ineffectiveness by leaps and bounds. He has watched people he loves die before his eyes, seen them bleed, observed them endure torturous miseries he would have taken upon himself tenfold to save them from -- but been powerless to do so. For a man who considers the value of his life next to nothing to begin with, having his 'purpose' stripped of him in this way has been a heavy burden to bear along with the rest. None-the-less, he refuses to give up -- and that will not change, no matter how far he's hammered into the ground. As long as there are people around him, loved ones to goad into smiling again... he will pick himself -- and them -- up, and keep moving forward.

The most notable mod-run events that left the deeper and more lasting marks on our hero in Mayfield's history were:
- Thanksgiving: The town deteriorated to a nuclear wasteland. Considering the untoward memories this brought about, Abel was less than fond to say the least from the get-go; however, the fact that he had not regained his abilities or durability as a clone or Crusnik meant that he expired from radiation poisoning. He left his little brother in the care of Clark Kent, and died to be resurrected at the end of the event. He's told no one of this to this day.
- Dr. Johnson's experiments: The NPC Dr. Johnson briefly held control over the town; during this time, a great majority of its citizens were kidnapped night by night and found the following morning experimented on in crude and often times grotesque or horrifying ways. Their minds were played with; their bodies warped -- Cain was one such victim. Abel spent days watching his brother fearful even of him, afraid he was on the brink of death and being hunted by unseen enemies. She holds a special place in his heart... the place where all the lingering rage and bloodlust goes, of course. He isn't fond of doctors who play mad scientist to begin with, but hurting his kin is an unforgivable transgression. She might be one of the only individuals Abel would legitimately break his promise and kill if given the opportunity.
- The Carnival: Cain lost his life when a trip through a funhouse lead to a bubble-dimension of a 'prototype' Mayfield. Cain was beheaded inside of it by a glitch portal (or corrupt data pocket in the simulation).

Personality: Abel is, at first glance, a rather unassuming and pathetic priest with a distinct sweet tooth and appears impossibly hard to take seriously whatsoever. And, if he had his way, you'd think no more of him than that - he'll gladly chat you up for hours regarding just about anything - the weather, local news, how nice your shirt looks, oh my what a pretty sunset...! all the while never truly revealing much of substance about himself or letting the conversation get too serious. He can seem vacant and flighty, but it's all a facade hiding something much more than one might expect.

At 976 years old, "Father Nightroad" is actually a genetically enhanced clone - one of four - injected with "Crusnik" nanomachines which, upon activation, transform him into a 'vampire eating vampire.' They alter his appearance and behavior, acting like a sentient parasite that's only purpose is to kill and destroy. The more he uses Crusnik, the less he's able to resist its pull, the temptation to fuse to 100% and become a slave to its will calling to him. He considers Crusnik a "mark of his sins," a side of himself he hates showing anyone and prefers to use only as a last resort when absolutely necessary - and those sins don't paint a very pretty picture.

For all his light-hearted banter and warm smiles, Abel utterly and completely loathes himself - and perhaps for good reason. He has no self-respect and considers himself a monster; long before he held the title of 'priest,' Abel was 'Contra Mundi' -- or 'enemy of the world.' Born a clone whose purpose was to herald mankind into the future by colonizing Mars, Abel was treated like a lab rat and 'tool.' He loathed the mistreatment of his kin, and unlike his twin brother (who he was directly cloned from), he wore his rage like a second skin. He became bitter and openly hated the people he was supposed to serve. Violent, disobedient, mouthy and off-putting, it came as no surprise when he ended up attracting the ire of those above and beneath him to the point that there was an attempt on his life. When he was given the power of "Crusnik," he used it to help begin a cycle of genocide to rid the world of humanity once in for all. Abel is single-handedly responsible for over seven million deaths -- not counting those he aided his kin in further destroying. They leveled cities; they plunged the entire Earth into a state of near inhabitable emptiness that came to be known as the "Dark Ages." If not for Lilith Sahl - the woman who loved him and saw that little spark of humanity buried under so much fear and hurt and longing to be accepted, loved... he might have continued on that way forever and wiped out mankind.

When Lilith was killed by the Crusnik nanomachines puppetting his brother, Cain, he realized the full scope of his errors in judgment, how far he'd fallen -- and effectively ended the war by killing his (already dead) twin, taking her corpse with him to Earth, and requesting to be sealed away in her crypt beneath the Vatican. It was there he remained for the next 800 years of his life... hoping for a death that wouldn't come to reunite him with his soulmate and his just desserts for not realizing the fate his brother had suffered ages ago to the monster behind his eyes. The only woman who had ever held out hope for his soul - and died for him to see it, too. If he hadn't been given a purpose in Caterina Sforza's accidental discovery of his sealed-up and still grief-ridden form ten years ago, he would likely still be locked away from the world in his dead lover's crypt. He tells her he can't not protect humans; it's his duty to keep on living, to protect humanity and undo the damage he's wrought in his past, to carry Lilith's love into the future and continue her work where it left off.

And so he loves the world and the people in it; he hates seeing suffering and sacrifice. If there's something he can do to ease someone else's pain, chances are he'll go to great lengths to do so. In the same breath, he can be a selfish and childish creature. Even when he knows it causes those who trust him pain, he'll very rarely if ever be truthful about both his past and his "other self;" he fears to damage the friendships he's made and frighten those who've put trust in him by showing them what he truly is (or to face the reality of being shunned for it, just as much). And, more than anything, he is almost constantly doing battle with his conscience that tells him he doesn't deserve their trust, their friendship, at all. So, chances are a great deal of his interaction with the world will remain superficial and shallow; he'll befriend you, lend you his shoulder, fight by your side - but the chances he'll genuinely let you see who he is are slim to none.
Abilities/Powers: Abel is a genetically modified human clone of his brother, Cain Knightlord. Beyond this, he injected himself with the Crusnik nanomachines which gift him with various abilities based on the amount of their power utilized in 'release states' at any given time.

Crusnik are, in effect, a parasitic nanoscopic and sentient machine that feeds on the bacillus in a Methuselah's bloodstream as a fuel source. They are normally dormant; when activated, they transform Abel in various ways depending on how much of their power he exerts. Abilities include:

- PHYSICAL ALTERATIONS. Sizable increase to strength, speed (can use a type of particle acceleration, like "flash step", that makes him move so fast he looks like he's teleporting), stamina, and senses. Gains fangs; claws; wings, and the air pressure around him drastically changes. He can also create a scythe that changes appearances from a hammerspace in his body utilizing the nanomachines.
- REGENERATION. He can heal from wounds quickly, and piece himself together from just short of literal dust, though it will take much longer than say, regenerating from the loss of a limb or hole in chest cavity etc.
- BIO-ELECTRIC CURRENT. Creates and can control lightning. Basically, he can shoot lightning/create fields of electricity from his body to use as a weapon to the point of ionizing particles in the air to cut to a fine point, explode and incinerate, or electrocute anything around him.
- DEFENSIVE/OFFENSIVE WINGS. His wings can be feathery, but also have the ability to become sharp as razors to touch; they can slice through steel and bone, as well as form a shield around him capable of deflecting laser cannon fire from an airship.
- ACID-LIKE BLOOD. Abel's blood is full of the Crusnik nanomachines; they can form little mouths which can eat flesh/muscle/bone like acid as well as infect and control other technological creatures. They're typically used to eat his own fallen flesh when he's injured and are re-absorbed through his wings to aid the regeneration of his body. The nanomachines are also capable of telepathy with the bacillus (which infects Methuselah (or vampires) in the Trinity Blood universe).
- TECH SAVVY. He was created and raised to be an advanced tool of mankind for colonizing another planet. He is an expert at security systems and hacking, as well as being a capable engineer.
- MARKSMEN. He is shown to make incredibly accurate and impossible shots in canon with what's been dubbed the "Peacemaker" revolver, equipped with reinforced silver bullets.
- TANK. He gets blown up and sliced apart very regularly, and always gets back up to finish the job. There is no way to "kill" Abel short of complete body disintegration or removal of the Crusnik nanomachines.

Items/Weapons: Abel's rosary, his modified revolver (Peacekeeper), and a few vials of bacillus (the equivalent of human blood to a vampire Crusnik needs as fuel).
Sample Entry: Post from Haven!
Sample Entry Two: ...It's been a while.

Hasn't it?

There was no vampire moon, here, but the sky was just as nostalgic a sight. Overcast and depressing, huh? Things here had drastically changed, but at their core, they'd always be the same. The oppressive aura of a heavy weight was still just as potent in the air here as it had ever been. It was like smog; if you took a breath deep enough, you could make it a part of you. It could poison you.

It could definitely poison you.

Abel realizes he's caught himself staring, belatedly -- remembers that he has a mission objective. The acute concern for those he unintentionally left behind is eating at him before he can so much as register that tightness in his chest as anxiety borne for their well-being, and he's taking off without a second thought. Cain... Diva-- Charles. Ciel. Caterina. Brother Petros, and Wade-- god, Miss Izumo and...

...There's more 'precious people' than he thought there ever could be, and he isn't quite sure when that happened -- but now is hardly the time to dwell. The gravel crunches as it's disturbed with hasty steps that betray his urgency, but he isn't in any one place long. He has to find them -- all of them. The last thing he remembers was white hallways and the smell of that sickening man's laboratory, of human sweat and blood and dust. Charles had been in trouble, and Diva? Everyone had been in terrible shape, and his loved ones... family were in danger. Caught in a delicate balance, one that Abel had no intention of leaving them to if he had any say in the matter. How long has he been down and out...? Why is he waking up here?

Are they all okay--?

There are far more questions than answers-- but he won't be satisfied until he has them all in arm's reach.

He has promises to keep.

Previous Game History: I assume that carrying over memories/experiences from other games is entirely optional? If that’s the case, I’ll disregard this section. I played Dino in Somarium for nearly four years - as well as other games for less time, but if it’s all right, I’d rather start afresh at Haven, given the different setting and fresh CR.

Dino Cavallone | Katekyo Hitman Reborn! | Not reserved 2/?

[personal profile] trippinlikeaboss 2014-01-31 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: Unlike some characters in Reborn who you just can't make up your mind about, Dino is an inherently good guy, and every time he appears, he’s consistent in that regard. Even when you have your doubts for a moment – like when he tested Gokudera’s loyalty as the future right hand of the Vongola 10th and Dino was sent to assassinate him if he failed the test by taking the bait-- the underlying motivation behind this was for the sake of the good, working as an ally to the Vongola family and in their best interests. He’s a friend, a faithful ally, a hard-working boss, a dedicated mentor, and a host of good humor. Well, sometimes he’s also the butt of the joke, but at least Dino is usually laughing too.

Of course, he’s older than most of the main characters, who are still kids in middle school (or even seeming-babies). And a lot has happened in Dino’s life in recent years, leading up to his appearance before “useless” Tsuna and his introduction in the series. In that time, Dino definitely matured a lot and more so than Tsuna after 380+ chapters, in that he not only changed his mind about the mafia itself, but found the will to devote his best efforts to improving his family and being a boss they can be proud of (to clarify: Tsuna made some pretty epic improvements up to this canon point, of course, but ultimately still lacks the resolution to declare – fine, I am the Vongola 10th already as soon as the latest battle has ended and temporary peace is restored. He reverts to nono please not the mafia, which is a sentiment Dino shared himself as a teenager).

Like Tsuna, Dino was born to fall in the path to being the next Cavallone boss and likewise, young Dino wanted nothing to do with it, thought the mafia was a dirty world and he couldn’t possibly take that sort of weight on his shoulders. He could barely take a flight of stairs without falling head over heels – how could he be expected to lead a Family by himself? But that was before Reborn was called in to become his tutor. That’s when his path in life, as well as his identity in the mafia world, started to shift.

First, chaos. Being taught by Reborn was excruciating and scary and if he hadn’t been persistent, Dino might have just died as a teenager in some freak training accident and that would have been the end of his story. Reborn certainly has a sick sense of humor and a desire to put his students through some incredibly rough, nearly impossible trials. But if they have the fortune to survive, they can then be capable of greater things, which eventually was the case for Dino. He went from a screaming boy wielding his whip purely on terrified instinct to a young man who took out dozens of men – and grenades - single-handedly, earning him the name Bucking Horse Dino. And as he gained confidence in his own ability to protect, to fight and defend, Dino also gained the respect and adoration of his men, which allowed him to realize that what he had originally run from out of fear and uncertainty – or perhaps even laziness, might actually be worthwhile. It would not only change his life, but influence the lives of the thousands of people in the Cavallone family, people whose health and well-being depended on him.

So through study and combat training, insane obstacle courses and of course Reborn taking live shots at him, Dino emerges a confidant, superficially cocky, but still light-hearted kind of guy. Of course he’s learned enough about posturing in the mafia by then, and he takes on the air of a self-assured mafia boss when he first meets Tsuna, intimidating and cool, even if he is wearing low-riding khakis and a furry coat. But once he knows he’s gotten Tsuna’s goat, Dino resorts to teasing and laughing at him. He likes to taunt and play around, and Tsuna, who reminds Dino of his younger self, just makes it so easy.

But it’s not all posturing with Dino. Of course, he’s had to do many things that go beyond attacking bears or running from killer turtles. Being a boss also required he serve as an occasional hitman (the incident where he tested Gokudera), taking on local yakuza, and I’m sure many uncited occasions where he put his life on the line and was required to kill for the good of the Vongola or his own family. And he takes that much very seriously, one of the few times you don’t see even a hint of a smile on Dino’s face.

But he also has his fail moments still. The catch in Dino’s strength/skill is that he only uses it for his Family, or more truly in the presence of his family, initially in the immediate vicinity and by the future, within 1K. If he’s out of range of their influence, Dino can’t even walk a few feet without tripping over his own toes. He becomes a graceless eater, whips himself in the face with his own weapon – himself and others, flies down stairs and manages to get trapped inside a giant snowball that takes no prisoners. He’s a definite hazard to himself and others and what’s more, Dino is in denial of his own failure. It’s a crack in the flooring or slippery stairs or an inability to use chopsticks. Granted, it might be a benefit to refuse to believe this, in order to retain his confidence, but at the same time, Dino charges whole-heartedly into a situation before the sad proof that he can’t wing it on his own becomes evident to everyone else but him.

But in spite of this (pretty significant) flaw, Dino is still considerably acknowledged within the mafia, firstly because of his physical connections, having gone to mafia private school with pre-members of the Varia like Squalo, being an allied family to the Vongola, and so forth, but also due to the name he’s made for himself. Gokudera first passes him in Tsuna’s company and calls him Bucking Horse, with as much deference as that kid can muster for someone older and therefore untrustworthy. He’s recognized on sight by members of the Varia and most of the older generation Mafioso in the series. And they’re definitely not laughing when they give the nod of “Bucking Horse.” You can tell that they respect him, not merely as a boss, but because he single-handedly turned around the state of his family’s affairs, improving their financial situation, allowing their numbers to prosper, and continuing good relations with the Vongola. So in addition to his acquired skill with the whip (and also the gun and fighting in general), Dino has a gift for finances and leadership, understanding that being a Mafia Boss is about respect, loyalty, and self-sacrifice, throwing yourself whole-heartedly into the fray in order to protect your men, and in so doing, just cementing why they put their faith in him to begin with.

No one in KHR is a stranger to wounds. Dino is certainly no exception, not only due to his participation in the succession of battles in the series, but also because of his clumsiness. And yet he seems to scrape by fairly well with his limbs in tact and body littered in band-aids. I should definitely add he has a resilience as well as persistence. Certainly, to take on the constant, days-long sparring with Hibari Kyouya during their time training together, receiving that kind of extensive damage and welcoming the next round in order to keep the Cloud Guardian preoccupied – that takes a good bit of brass. But I would argue it’s to be expected of a survivor or Reborn’s brand of tutelage! If you can live through that, you can probably live through just about anything.

Dino’s ability to persuade (as well as his extensive patience) is made apparent in his interactions with Hibari. From the beginning, you get that he’s trying to keep it cool in front of the boy, waving the prospect of a fight in the face of the volatile kid. It doesn’t take him long to figure out that that’s pretty much Hibari’s #1 motivation, fighting – and trying to best someone else in the process. So as long as he keeps up the challenge, he’ll keep the boy’s interest. So Dino tries to gradually talk him into accepting his ring and his role in the Vongola while defending his attacks with his whip. That speaks pretty well for his focus and ability to multi-task. And by the end of their sparring, he’s obviously managed to make the battle for the rings interesting enough for Hibari to involve himself, even if he denies associating with the other members of the Vongola. Dino knows that’s just typical of a Cloud.

In regards to Tsuna, you see his familiarity, his warmth, his teasing, his willingness and desire to help. Even though he initially breaks him down by pointing out all of his flaws, Dino presents himself as a big brother to help him out, to show him the ropes and in turn, Tsuna welcomes him into his house and his family. Dino enjoys playing with Tsuna and his middle school compatriots, enjoying (relatively) innocuous games like snowball fights to hanging out in hospitals while they recover and eating free sushi, and even participating among his family in Vongola match-ups and challenges. He affectionately calls Tsuna his cute little brother. While the love might not be a two-way street among the rest of the guardians, who can definitely see the health-hazard that is Dino Cavallone without his men, it doesn’t appear to offend him in the least and he keeps on coming back to join in.

But towards the more recent arc of KHR, when Dino shows up again to join forces with Team Reborn, there’s a definite change in his usual Achilles’ heel. While no one comes out and points it out, I think Dino has gained the ability to fight without his family near – provided he’s in the company of Hibari. I say this because when he shows up among the Varia, sent by Reborn to get the Cloud Guardian’s back should he seem to be heading towards defeat at the hands of Xanxus, he manages to attack with his whip while taking out the windows – and not himself. He’s confidant, capable, which until then was unheard of. There’s no obvious Cavallone men in sight, and it’s too early for him to have developed the long-distance range he has acquired in the future and what’s more, Hibari challenges him after the battle ends in a standstill and then Dino disappears, assumedly having gone off to fight with him. You also see that his understanding of Hibari is even more spot on than ever before. Doesn’t matter that the boy hasn’t warmed up to his definitely-not-tutor. The fact remains, Dino seems to view him as an extension of his family, there to protect and defend, even if it ends up only being verbal support and offering his own presence, whether Hibari wants it or not, and that is why I think he’s suddenly so capable when left to his own devices.

Dino also gets to go undercover in the more recent arc, posing as an English teacher at the local middle school where Tsuna and his friends spend their days. While it’s for the ease of being able to join in on the impromptu battles, he seems to be a passable – and very popular professor. And you can certainly tell he enjoys his role – it’s fun to play someone new! – even if the buffed floors are really slippery and treacherous. Aside from letting him serve as on-hand backup, of course it also throws him in the path of Namimori’s prefect, gaining Hibari’s attention from the get-go, exactly as planned. Reborn is so crafty.

Of course, even though he’s grown a lot himself over the years, Reborn’s threats still strike the fear of God in Dino. He can laugh about it sometimes, but like Tsuna, you can tell he’s also sweating about them, because he KNOWS the baby isn’t kidding and exactly what he’s capable of. So while he may not be intimidated by Vongola assassins or the younger guardians, or even Hibari when he’s getting serious, Dino’s definitely still at the mercy of Reborn. And he’s also afraid of his own pet, when Enzio swells to his largest size in water. Even so, the freak out lasts only a few moments before Dino snaps into action and channels that fear into saving everyone from his rabid, hideously oversized snapping turtle – at least when he’s capable of doing so.

Abilities/Powers:
As previously stated, Dino is a natural klutz when left to his own devices, but in the company of Family, he can be a pretty strong contender. He wields a bull whip, which when not fail,
he can break windows with and twist around a target (including a moving one, ie. a person) in order to immobilize them. He can use a gun and from the future memories, has learned about the existence of rings as used in conjunction with box weapons, but he much prefers the old-fashioned hands-on sort of approach to combat, so going into too much detail on that is kind of moot.

His pet turtle Enzio can really only be employed on a destructive, kind of berserk level - usually by accident, when he gets wet and turns into turtle!Godzilla, plowing through forests and devouring bathrooms, tile and all.

Clumsiness included, Dino can take a fair bit of damage and usually keep on trucking with a slew of bandaids and a friendly attitude. He’s probably broken many bones several times over, his own worst enemy, but habitually tripping over his own feet has served as a test of endurance for the fighting to come. Dino has leapt out of a window and whipped bombs out of the way of harming his men. He can be pretty awesome, when he’s not face-planting!

Also there’s his power of persuasion, especially concerning his former student, Hibari. He intentionally provokes the prefect (and Xanxus) in order to show the former what a serious threat the Varia boss is when he’s angry, and why he should have accepted the assistance of his wise mentor, who saved him from a bullet to begin with, with the slash of his whip, and he’s still standing (well, kneeling) there in the wake of the hotel almost being raised to the ground from their fight.

Items/Weapons: 1. Bullwhip 2. IS ENZIO ALLOWED? If only as a normal functioning snapping turtle at least?? If not, I’ll think of a backup 3. Maybe his boss watch as a momento

Sample Entry:
(From network intro to Amat)

[Upon arriving, Dino found himself in possession of a number of new accessories. The first was the collar around his neck, a gold chain that was kind of flashy, even for him. He looked for a clasp and not finding one, just absently tugged on the chain for a bit, in vain. Huh, strange.

[He shifted his attention to the shiny new phone instead. Well, it wasn’t anything like his. For one thing, it wasn’t broken and even in a far-reaching place, it appeared to get a signal. That’s not to say that its operator was as proficient]

This is really something.

[Yes, he’s talking to himself, because in the process of pushing buttons, Dino doesn’t realize he’s actually sent a video call out to the entire network, which is to say, he’s also unaware that everyone can see his frowning face as he rubs at the back of his neck awkwardly, rolling the cool chain against his skin. He peers at the screen before trying to send out a call to his right hand man by holding down on the 1 – which would have worked on speed dial, if this was his own phone. Instead, Dino waits and then addresses the communicator, pretty sure he didn’t hear a dial tone]

Romario? Hello?

Can you hear me? [A slight pause when there’s silence on the other end. So much for getting any help, or at the least, an explanation. Romario could always be counted on to pick up the pieces]

Damn. [Dino starts walking again, before trying to end the call. Unfortunately, walking and typing prove too difficult for the Cavallone boss and mid-step, Dino trips over level grass and goes sprawling, the phone flying out of his hand, but still recording]

Ow! [He groans to himself, lifting a flushed face that can’t be seen at this angle. But there’s still the obvious sounds of Dino struggling to sit up, muttering to himself, indignant] What the hell was that? [Clearly it had to be a rock or something, because Dino is in denial of his own issues with basic coordination – which meant anyone could have taken the risk of a spill. That’s dangerous]

Geez.

Sample Entry Two:

(From intro DV)

‘Kyouya…” Dino tried to offer, by way of a heads-up.

But the Cloud Guardian had obviously had enough of his talking over the last few minutes. Really, Dino thought, all things considered, Hibari had been exceptionally patient –for Hibari, so it really should come as no surprise when the force of a blow knocked the words right of his mouth, slamming into Dino’s right cheek and making his teeth clank together, before Hibari’s voice grated out the same message as his fist: 'Shut up."

Heh. He always was a fractious kid that preferred violence to conversation.

But still, ouch. From the familiar taste of blood in his mouth, Dino was pretty sure he’d bitten through his tongue, not that he had the time to be preoccupied with a scrape like that, because his neck barely had the time to snap back from Hibari’s punch before the whole place lit up with energy and sound, an explosive volley of box weapons clashing until the roof exploded above them with the deafening roar and the splinter of glass all around them.

Bracing himself against the blast, Dino felt his body going down on one knee, the heat licking his face without really touching it, left hand splayed against the ground while the right was still secure around his coiled whip.

But in the blink of an eye, Dino was standing again, his whip missing, the familiar weight of the battle watch around the opposite wrist gone.

The dry breeze blew the hair across Dino's wide eyes and he felt the irritating tickle of sand against his nose and throat.

What the--?

Nothing was the way it should be. There was bare ground beneath his feet, not the battle-worn flooring. And there was no smoke from the fight, no rubble from the fallen rooftop, and none of the fellow combatants kneeling around in the aftershocks of Xanxus’s and Hibari's attack.

Stuck in a loop of disbelief and incomprehension as his mind tried and failed to reboot and process what was going on, Dino shoved his bare hands inside the confines of his jacket pockets, toying with the keys he found there, his ID card from Namimori, wondering why these trivial things were still there, as they should be, but not his weapon, not his watch--

Not Enzio!

Dino knew without patting himself down that the familiar weight of the turtle was missing from the inside of his chest pocket, where he always kept him when he wasn’t riding on Dino’s shoulder.

That he was missing might be the most disturbing news of all, if not for the fact that he suddenly found himself in the decaying urban desert, a wasteland that definitely wouldn’t be appealing to a sponge snapping turtle on the loose.

Thank goodness for small miracles.

Letting that bit of relief roll through him, Dino relaxed his shoulders and hunched into a more natural pose, the picture of casual ease -- that is, until his legs went out from under him. Bad luck, poor coordination, displaced sand -- who knows what went wrong?

But there's no denying the loud succession of sounds - the scraping, a curse, and a splash as the mafia boss fell into the fountain.

Personality:
Captain of the 10th Division in the Gotei 13 (Soul Society's military branch), Hitsugaya is a mostly stoic guy surrounded on all sides by a cool and collected air. Despite his young appearance, he's got a strict no-nonsense attitude and he does his best to come across as a mature individual. He knows how to respect those who deserve respect and knows how to take respect when it's given to him. He knows when to apologize and he knows when to show gratitude. Responsible and charged with the tasks given to him due to his rank, he's admirably diligent and punctual with his work and duties. Unfortunately for him, having obtained the position of captain at such a young age, Hitsugaya is prone to not being taken seriously or being openly mocked and this, of course, he can't stand. He usually puts on a passive front when he's insulted, but he greatly dislikes being treated like a child and constantly has to remind certain people to correctly address him as captain.

Described as a genius and child prodigy, Hitsugaya is carefully pragmatic and intelligent. He graduated from the Shinigami Academy after a single year, then went on to become the youngest captain in the history of the Gotei 13. Hitsugaya is quick to notice and catch on to suspicious behavior, suspecting Ichimaru of unpleasant dealings before anyone else, and is equally quick in acting upon investigations. Capable of coming up with battle plans, traps, and strategies in the middle of a heated battle (though he's stumbled and bumbled through his fair share of trouble during a number of distressing situations), Hitsugaya has proven himself to be largely competent. He's confident with his abilities, though he has admitted that they haven't fully matured yet. And when trouble rolls around like it always does, he's not one to stand back and let it discourage him. After Aizen's defeat, he spent a large amount of time honing his bankai and later, when that very bankai is stolen from him, he sets about training from the ground up alongside his subordinates.

When Hitsugaya grows to care for someone, acknowledging the person as either family or friend, he dedicates himself entirely to keeping them safe. He's resolutely loyal and protective, even refusing for a good while to move forward in his life so as not to leave his surrogate grandmother alone and by herself. Though he doesn't outwardly show it, Hitsugaya is selfless and kind. He's not too keen on displaying his emotions, leading those who don't know him that well to believe the captain to be ice cold in demeanor. He would much rather keep his feelings to himself as best as he can, choosing not to reveal his true intentions at all or by playing it off like a brat.

Yes, a brat.

Growing up in West Rukongai with his surrogate grandmother and Hinamori, a close friend, Hitsugaya wasn't always the straight-faced captain that he is today and it occasionally shows. He can still be a teasing jerk, especially to Hinamori in order to mask his concern over her well-being. And in some battles he's shown a subtle smugness and mocking edge to his words and actions, taunting his enemies with a deadpan expression and tone.

But heck, keeping his emotions in check is thrown aside the second someone he cares for is endangered. Hitsugaya's greatest flaw is most likely his inability to take control of his temper, sending him into a blind rage which then routinely ends in dangerous consequences and near death experiences. Hurt someone he's close to and Hitsugaya is known to completely lose his composure and all logical thought, allowing his fury to have total command over his actions. He's not above holding grudges or seeking revenge. On a much smaller scale, Hitsugaya has a tendency to get irritated or impatient very frequently and very easily. It doesn't take long for the young captain to yell or shout at an unruly or careless subordinate, of which there are many. So damn many, don't even get him started on how incompetent some of them are at completing basic paperwork (Matsumoto).

Though he does his best to be treated as an adult, he does have some ways to go. He's still young and still inexperienced when compared to many of his peers. The not-so-recent-anymore timeskip of just a little under a year and a half has shown a slightly more grown-up Hitsugaya. He's become more knowledgeable, more purposeful. There's a quiet, but solid, determination now and it's apparent that he's accepted the fact that he needs and wants to grow stronger.

Abilities/Powers:
As a captain-level shinigami from Soul Society, Hitsugaya is capable of casting advanced spells known as kidou either for support, like large barriers, or direct offensive action. He's also an expert in flash step or shunpo, a movement ability that allows the user to move faster than the average eye can follow. Along with spells and flash step, there's spiritual presence or reiatsu and it's the spiritual force/pressure that shinigami and a few others are able to release from their being. Battling with a shinigami means battling with their level of reiatsu. It can even be used defensively to protect the body or instill fear/paralysis if the spiritual presence is high enough. Hitsugaya has always had a high level of spiritual presence (described as large and cold) and had his reiatsu not been discovered by his future lieutenant, his stay at Rukongai would have resulted in freezing his grandmother to death in his sleep because he wasn't able to control it at the time.

Oh yeah, and he's masterfully skilled at swordsmanship.

Being a shinigami means carrying a zanpakutou, a soul-cutter sword generally used to combat Hollows, creatures born from corrupt human souls, that must be sent over to Soul Society, or to send Pluses, benign spirits, to Soul Society. A zanpakutou has two upgraded forms: the shikai which is the first release and bankai, the last and final. Each zanpakutou is unique with its own name and abilities and its user is able to communicate with the sword through meditation. Hitsugaya's zanpakutou is named Hyourinmaru and it's the most powerful ice-element zanpakutou in existence. It's also one of the few soul-cutter swords capable of taking command of the weather, resulting in blizzards or thunderstorms.

Hyourinmaru's shikai has the ability to control ice and water. A slash of his zanpakutou with his shikai released sends a dragon shaped from ice at his opponent. Anything that the ice touches, it freezes immediately. He can also build a protective wall from woven ice and create traps with the end result having the opponent encased in a large pillar of ice. Now, unlike some other captain-level shinigami, there's no huge power gap between Hitsugaya's shikai and bankai. The biggest difference is the amount of ice he can generate, with his shikai only being able to create a small amount while his bankai has the capacity to bring forth a massive amount. With the addition of regenerating ice wings which he can use as a shield and a tail (so shounen...) with the ability to freeze everything it touches, his bankai allows him to use his power to cover a greater distance than his shikai. His bankai also grants him the use of ice puppets in his exact likeness, pillars of ice used to crush enemies, and the ability to send snow down on his opponents, causing everything the snow touches to be trapped in... more ice pillars.

Items/Weapons: Just what he's currently wearing and his zanpakutou, Hyourinmaru.

Sample Entry Two:
It had been a long day spent with divisions being deployed to all parts of Rukongai's many districts in order to quell a distantly rising panic that had been creeping forward with the case of the disappearing villagers. As captain of the 10th Division, Hitsugaya had taken part and during his time there, had seen nothing that would lead to an answer for this puzzling dilemma. It was always one thing after another, he thought. Troubling as the current situation was, he had little reason to doubt that something far larger was looming just over the horizon. People didn't disappear from Soul Society in the way that these groups had. It was only a matter of time until true intentions were revealed.

With the onset of night and after his short, fruitless debriefing, he returns to his office. He'd tasked his lieutenant, Matsumoto, with going on before him and getting a head start on the stacks and stacks of paperwork waiting back for the pair. Just as problems arose swiftly for the Gotei 13, documents in need of looking over came equally as fast. It would be best to manage them earlier on while they still had the chance. He'd left her with plenty of time to get through at least half of the work.

And sure enough, as soon as he enters the room, the sight he'd expected to see greets him.

He tucks his hands inside of his sleeves, expression not even close to that of impressed or pleased. There, sprawled on the couch and fast asleep, is Matsumoto. As for the neglected paperwork, they were just as he'd left them that morning, unread and unattended to. The familiar feeling of irritation rises and he just barely holds back from shouting her awake and scolding her for, once again, slacking on the job. It's a routine back and forth with them. This time, though, the irritation is quick to fade as it was to arrive. It had been a day stretched thin, after all, and Matsumoto had been running back and forth on account of his orders and her own duties. They were exhausted, both of them. A good night's rest wasn't undeserved here.

The stern presence he had been careful to keep up all day slips as he wills his footsteps to land lightly on the way to his paperwork-occupied desk. It wouldn't do any good to disturb his lieutenant's sleep now. He'd simply make it so there would be an evenly distributed pile for her share. Well, probably. Paperwork had a tendency of getting completed around him and who knew how long she'd be out for. It wasn't bad, though. This set up, that is. It wasn't the first time he'd slave over documents with Matsumoto sleeping away for company and it certainly wasn't going to be the last.

Despite the troubles lurking around the corner, despite the storm brewing, he had to admit that this familiarity was somewhat comforting to his already addled mind.

Character Name: Brady
Canon: Fire Emblem: Awakening
Canon Point: chapter 25
Background/History: here!

Personality:
Brady looks and (at first glance) acts a bit like a bandit, but that couldn't be farther from the truth. He's actually a sensitive, kindhearted son of a duke's daughter, brought up to act all proper-like and partake in such activities as chess, dancing, and classical music. Even the scar on his face, that makes him look a bit scary, is from a noble pasttime. Why he looks and talks as he does is kind of a mystery, but there is no question at all that Brady is very much a mama's boy.

And you can't blame him really, when he lost her early on due to the chaos that happened in our heroes' future, the future that Brady comes from. He grew up without either of his parents and was forced to change, forced to harden. Like his companions, he would do anything to go back and change the way things were in order to save their parents and their world. He's as much a believer in truth and justice as anyone else. In fact, Brady is even a man of the cloth. While he doesn't act as religious as, say, Libra, he probably turned to the priesthood in order to hold on to the faith that they could change history. They could be heroes.

Of course the other reason is that Brady is a little bit weak. He can't fight well with a weapon and despite being rather tall and looking like a gang member, he's not all that muscle-y either. He takes on a supportive role and protects those he's closest to so he doesn't have to watch more people disappear from his life. It does bother him to be so weak, but he trains tirelessly in order to try and bulk up a little. He blames some of his weakness on his mother, who coddled him and spoiled him when she was alive. Granted, he loves his ma more than anything, but he didn't like feeling so smothered by her. On occasion he finds her antics pretty silly too (but then so are his).

He describes himself as "sentimental", and even though he sort of gets the meaning of that wrong once in a while, it's actually pretty much true. Brady is a bit of a crybaby. Pretty much anything can make him cry, including a teeny tiny flower growing on the side of the road. This gets him flack from other male members of the party like Owain and Inigo, which riles Brady up. Brady is softhearted and values life above all things. Again, probably because he lost so much at an early age.

Being a softie and playing the support role doesn't mean he won't fight though. Brady has a little bit of a temper that's usually triggered by some sort of injustice, slander against his mother, or being teased for crying. But really he's just trying to protect his manly image and he fails miserably at it. He doesn't cry when he faces a Risen or otherwise evil opponent, that's for sure. In fact he will even taunt them! When something actually goes his way he can be very prideful. That's a trait he got from his mother.

Again, not sure where his funny way of talking came from exactly (he says that talking all properlike as Maribelle does makes him feel like he's suffocating), but Brady claims that he stands in the sort of stooped position in order to talk to women and children properly. His hooligan hairstyle is so his companions can spot him easily when he needs to heal them. In other words, despite everything, Brady is about as far from a bandit thug as you can get. He's a gentle healer who aspires to save his family and one day become a famous violinist.

Abilities/Powers:
Brady starts off as a priest class, which means that he doesn't fight with a weapon (until you level him up). He wields a staff in order to heal, protect, or save others. Staves can also repair weapons. He inherits the abilities "Healtouch", which restores an extra 5HP points when he is healing another unit, and "Miracle", which saves him from a fatal blow by retaining 1HP point.

Depending on who his father is, he can level up to various classes and he will also inherit more special skills from his parents. He can learn some Valkeryie/Pegasus Knight skills from his mother Maribelle. Not sure who his father is at this point.

Items/Weapons: a) a healing stave b) violin c) Maribelle's wedding ring

Sample Entry Two: recycled sample!
Traveling through time and space was old hat for Brady, really. So when he suddenly finds himself in that green, green grass amongst rows and rows of houses that more or less look the same, he knows it's not the end of the world. That didn't mean, however, that he was very happy about it.

"Horse apples! Why'd ya have to go and do that!? I'm gonna bust you one right in the face if ya don't put me back right now!" He exclaimed to nobody in particular, whipping around to look around him. He was looking for people, his staff, anything in order to protect himself if need be ... even if he was going to end up useless. Sadly, he didn't have his staff and there wasn't anyone around him. And that is what truly made this situation strange. Why had he been taken? Surely they'd take the prince's children over a duchess' right? Surely if he's here, then everyone should be.

The place didn't look threatening in the least (albeit somewhat foreign), but Brady couldn't help but feel scared and vulnerable. Where was his mother? How could he save her if he's stuck in some other timeline he didn't even ask for. He sniffed, feeling his eyes well up in tears as the thought struck him. He was separated from his mother. Again. And all alone, would he ever get back again ...?

"— Ah... " He stood up a little bit straighter as he suddenly spotted someone walking by and staring at him strangely. "Whattre ya lookin' at? I ain't crying! There's just somethin' stuck in my eye!" He growled at the strange person, who quickly took off in a speedwalk away from Brady and his lawn. At least that much carried over from his world. The ability to play the thug even if all he wanted was to roll up in a ball and cry.

Re: Kaldur'ahm | Young Justice | Reserved

[personal profile] manta 2014-01-31 11:17 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:
Over the course of Young Justice, Kaldur has had to play two wildly different roles. The hero, and the villain - and he was very, very good at both.

As the hero - the leader of heroes, even - Kaldur was always emotionally reserved, but deeply compassionate. He had a developed sense of empathy that made it easy for him to understand his Team, and to accommodate and work with/around even the most bullheaded people (see: Red freaking Arrow.) He was patient, and stayed level-headed and calm in even the most dire circumstances, and had a great knack for strategy. He was respectful of authority, though not enough to be blinded by it or to go along with something he felt was wrong when ordered to by someone in a position of power. He was very easy to get along with, and he was also smart, creative and observant.

That's not to say he was perfect, far from it. Kaldur had always been too slow to act, having a tendency to overthink things before doing them, especially when it came to things for himself. He also had a completely overblown sense of guilt and self-doubt, blaming himself whenever things went wrong during missions, or trying to shoulder an excessive amount of burdens. Whenever anything came up that was too dangerous, Kaldur would always make a ploy to sacrifice himself, unwilling or unable to muster up the ability to ask others to sacrifice themselves for his sake, even when it should have been necessary, strategically. He was also far too passive in relationships with friends, and he never complained or demanded to be heard out, even when simple conversation would be the easiest solution to whatever problem they were facing. Unless specifically asked, Kaldur would never do things like voice insecurities, or express how he was feeling emotionally. At least once onscreen, this habit got him in trouble with Batman, because he also let pent-up emotions drive him to distraction, which can be deadly when you lead the kind of life that Kaldur did at the time.

And all of that is still very much there when he turns coat, just repressed to far beneath the surface.

As a villain (or, rather, as someone masquerading to a worrying degree of convincing as a villain), Kaldur can be described mainly as controlled. Where he was once quiet and reserved (but still warm and kind), he is now cold and closed off. He will say and do terrible things, none of which he truly believes, in order to further his goals, or to get the reactions he needs out of people in order to minimize the harm he has to do to maintain his cover. He learned quickly that not having all the cards was the fastest way to get people killed, and as a result he has become highly fixated on information gathering and forming contingency plans. No matter what he's doing, he will always have three or four backup plans waiting in the wings, and it served him so well that even after two years of gaining the trust of his would-be super villain allies, he never actually really killed any members of the Team despite numerous direct confrontations.

He has also had to train himself out of the tendency towards self-sacrifice, and has learned how to gamble with lives and sacrifice one sentient being in order to spare another. Out of necessity, he has become highly manipulative, and the empathy that he once employed to help ground his friends emotionally he now uses to pit people against each other, or to gain their loyalty (generally while only offering a superficial version of it in return.) He has come to accept nothing but absolute perfection from himself, once again bringing about the self-flagellation tendencies: when he finally gave up his cover and successfully foiled the villain's plot, he couldn't even express happiness because he was too busy beating himself up over not getting all of the villains in custody, instead of just a good number of them.

Still, the guilt complex is among the least of his worries; he has grown to hate what he has become. After a few months of working undercover, Artemis began to express that she was losing her sense of self... and Kaldur has been under for years, working alone the entire time. When encountered inside his own head, he was heard wondering and what is left of Kaldur'ahm?, which paints an accurate picture of how he views himself at his current point in canon. Barely recognizable as the man he once was - the man he actually wanted to be.

Abilities/Powers:
Atlantean Physiology: Kaldur has considerable levels of super strength (it seems slightly below levels displayed by Superboy) and his skin/bone/muscle is superhumanly dense, owed to the fact that his people have adapted to live at the bottom of the ocean, where the water pressure is catastrophic. He can breathe underwater, is resistant to the effects of low temperatures and freezing (though he has a debilitating weakness to heat, dehydration and fire.)
Atlantean Sorcery: Kaldur's study of Atlantean Sorcery was incomplete, as he left before finishing his schooling in order to act as Aquaman's sidekick on the surface world. He still makes use of it, however, generally in two limited ways: the first is an electrical current he can discharge from the black tattoos along his arms, and the second is the manipulation of water through two small hilt-like devices called the "Water-Bearers," which allow him to form hard-water constructs, most commonly things like swords and maces and hammers (though he can create larger constructs which are considerably less dense without attaching them to the hilts.) He carries around a pack of water on his back to manipulate, and he must be nearby existing sources of water in order to utilize them - he doesn't appear to be able to use this ability without the Water-Bearers in hand, unlike most other Atlantean sorcerers even his own age, who are shown capable of manipulating water without outside assistance.
Black Manta Armor: Kaldur has a suit of armor modeled after his father's, which can shoot lasers from the lenses on the helmet and missiles from the shoulders. It is strong enough to withstand the water pressure at the bottom of the ocean, but on Kaldur that's a feature that's a bit redundant.

Items/Weapons: The Water-Bearers and the Manta Armor listed above (though the armor will come without any missiles stashed in it and essentially just be... decorative.)

Sample Entry: Here is an entry sample!
Sample Entry Two: This one was my prose sample for a different game.
At first, Kaldur has no idea what to do. He drifts through his introduction, and then his transport to his new home, mechanically asking the soldier questions while barely able to focus on her answers. He'll chastise himself later - information is the only real weapon, and without having it, the door is opened for it to be used against you.

But for now, his mind scrambles to come up with a new course of action in the midst of this about-face. There were honestly days where he fantasized about it all disappearing - maybe not just like this, but similarly - nights he dreamed about a Boom Tube opening up beneath his feet and taking him far away from the Mission. Away from the subterfuge and the careful plans laid atop careful plans laid atop the bodies that he can't take back. Away from the father he thinks he accidentally started to love, who believes the lies that Kaldur tells him, the lies that Kaldur is in danger of believing, himself, some days. Away from the team he would have once laid his life down for, the very same people he runs the risk of killing or capturing with every encounter when leaving them be would stretch his credibility just past too far and risk the Mission.

He has sent his Father's men to their deaths - men who are more human than he expected, somehow. Men like the one who raised him, whose actions cannot be condoned, but who deserve better than to be canon fodder. He has chosen the lives of his former friends over that of aliens, and has wiped them out by the hundreds with a bomb. He has used the death of Tula to claim justification for these actions, and even if it is only a cover he feels like he defiles her memory every time the words leave his mouth. There are days when he can think of nothing but this, when he wishes he had refused to shoulder the burden of infiltrating the Light. Many days. This day.

He sits in the living room of the home they've assigned to him as the sun drops down out of the sky, the heavy metal of his manta helmet dipping the cushion beside his own. He thinks, for a wild moment, that he could strip himself of the suit and never return to it so long as he is in this strange new place; he could call himself Aqualad again. He could help people without first harming them. He could be the man he had always hoped to one day return to, worse for wear or otherwise. Or he could go so far as to give it all up - he could be Kaldur'ahm, not the son of Black Manta, not the protege of his King, just... Kaldur'ahm.

He could. It's a beautiful notion. But he won't for the familiar fear creeping in, the sneaking suspicion that this may be another test, another way to search for the boundaries of his loyalties. He knows that the Light possesses technologies that transcend galaxies, why not dimensions?

He would be a fool not to exercise caution, and so he picks the helmet back up, lets it slide over his face and mask whatever humanity he has left. There's a tattoo on his wrist that he cannot see, and it tells him that he is a hero. So does Nightwing, on the rare occasion that he sees him to pass off all the gathered information, when they are alone. A hero; he has his doubts, these days.

Esdese | Akame ga Kill! | no reserve

[personal profile] tehkev 2014-01-31 12:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality: Sadist is trending worldwide, as it's the perfect word to open with when describing Esdese. She is a sadist, pure and simple. She finds immense enjoyment in making her enemies suffer through every and any sort of pain and humiliation. The more painful or degrading, the better. As she says herself, she lives for crushing those who have confidence in their fighting skills. Which ties in quite nicely with the fact she is a General in the Empire. A General whom is regarded far and wide as the Strongest in the Empire. Largely in part to the fact that she shows no mercy to her opponents and uses excessive and cruel means on the battlefield. Even going so far as tell her men to "Violate the town until they were satisfied" when a tribe rebelled against the empire, largely in part to encourage further rebellion so she would have even more battles to fight. If it wasn't obvious, she doesn't care for civilian casualties even in the slightest. This all is driven from her rule of life, the words of her father; "The strong ones win, and the weak ones perish." A simple creed to live by.

Yet it's precisely due to that strict outlook on life that she makes a good General. While feared as a monster and well known by her enemies, she inspires confidence and fear alike in her army and direct subordinates, yet all who follow her know they will be victorious in battle. And those she considers strong enough to directly server under her have her full respect. Enough so that even with the impression all have of her as being a twisted, sadistic general, she will lessen ever so slightly and relax around them, even showing genuine sympathy and care for them as a moment of emotional weakness is allowed... and if comfort or reassurance from her will steel their resolve, she will provide it so they can remain strong. The fact she is willing to lower her image to show this side is what even further cements the loyalty of those who serve her. Serving the Empire without question provides for her the greatest stage she can ask for to find strong enemies. And she is loyal to that stage. Nothing can make her question that.

However, despite the sadistic image she puts forth, there is one extreme exception to this. A simple and pure thing that she decided to try on a whim. Without warning or reason, she simply stated one day... she wanted to try falling in love. A fact that shocked all of those around her, of course. Yet it wasn't simply 'love' she wanted. She desired a man of a specific sort, one whom she could devote herself to yet also raise to be the strongest man in the Empire and be by her side. Naturally... that man ended up being the male lead of the series, Tatsumi. Which revealed a terrible(?!) truth regarding Esdese. When she fell in love she fell hard. Literally walking up to him and saying she now belonged to him in front of an arena of onlookers, she was smitten thoroughly and pursues his affections aggressively and constantly. Esdese loves Tatsumi. Yet love is still simply a thing she wanted to 'try'... so while she is in in love with him, she is also perfectly willing to order him to be killed if he goes against the Empire. It's a very one-sided and twisted love, yet her love for him is one-hundred percent legitimate.

Yet that is exclusive to Tatsumi and Tatsumi alone. As Esdese herself states to him, she is quite ignorant regarding many things. Having no experience in the subject before falling for Tatsumi. It's clear that she only has hearsay and word of mouth in reference to what someone does with a lover, and even what many normal girls her age would do or be interesting in. Things such as music, art, friends, she hardly understands them or sees reason to grasp them. Even when asked about her past, she went into great detail revealing to him that she has always been as she is. There was no deep and meaningful reason for her to become as she was, it was simply in her nature since she was young and how she was raised. It just should be perfectly clear, Esdese is a sadistic warrior who always hunts for the strongest prey she can find. That's just show she is.

Abilities/Powers:
Teigu, Demon's Extract: First of all, Teigu are powerful relics that exist in Akame ga Kill! that grant the user a unique power that can only be used by one who is suited to it. Esdese is in possession of one called Demon's Extract. It is the blood of an incredibly powerful beast that once resided in a chalice. Those who ingest it gain the power to control ice, yet the side effect is that it utterly crushes the users mind. Forcing upon them urges to kill and maim all of those around them. At least that is what it did up until Esdese decided to drink all of it in one go. Due to her already violent and sadistic nature, Esdese was able to supress the urges through sheer force of will, essentially 'taming' the beasts blood. The sign of her Teigu is a mark in the middle of her collar bone.

Thus she has the power to freely freeze anything she touches and this even goes so far as she can freeze time itself. An ability she came up with on her own as a 'trump card' which she can only use once a day, which only lasts for a few moments, yet that's enough to change the tide of any battle. Still, it isn't just freezing thing, she can create any amount of ice she desires, from the smallest fragments of blades, to a block so large it could dwarf a building. It isn't a gradual build up, either. When she creates ice or freezing something, it's nearly instantaneous. One of her most impressive feats is without a doubt freezing over an entire lake in a matter of seconds simply by touching it.

... she also has a habit of her attacks being named in German.

Strength, speed and talent: Esdese grew up fighting and hunting monsters from an incredibly young age. Her reaction speed, her physical strength, her durability, all of it is on a level far beyond what most normal humans can manage. This is only magnified by the fact she has a natural talent for fighting and killing. This obviously extends to her talent with weapons, as it is without question she is talented in the use of every blade imaginable. In fact she is so keen to battle, she is the type who can sense even the slightest amount of 'killing intent' when it is directed at her, even by those who could normally mask such a thing.

Combine these two with her outlook on life... it becomes quite clear it's all she truly needs to be seen as the Empire's Strongest General.

Items/Weapons:
+ Her rapier
+ Her military uniform
+ ... a black leather collar intended for a human with leash attached

Sample Entry:
*The gaze of the woman who appears on screen is calm and collected. The signs of spilled blood against her cheek are apparent, a satisfied smile is curled on her lips as she speaks.*

Greetings. *Pleasant enough.* It has come to my attention... some of you may wish to know what has just transpired. The community here surely has at least one here who cares for this individual. It was with their dying breath that they requested I inform you all of their demise.

*With a glance off screen, her expression flattens.*

Hmmm... He may have made the request, yet... It was so pathetic of a display I did not actually commit his name to memory. His skull is entirely impaled, so none would be able to identify him using that method... I cut off a hand, shattered both of his legs... How troublesome. I only even considered this as he said informing you all would let the strongest among you reason to fight me before I finished him off...

I don't suppose some of you would like to come look at what's left of this body, would you? I have no interest in dragging what little remains of him to put him on display. I have my doubts he was socially accepted enough for that to entice a reaction.

*Another pause as she returns her attention to the camera.*

No matter. In a weeks time, I'll force him to make a broadcast regarding his disappointing performance against me. Carry on. *With that, she clicks the phone closed.*

Sample Entry Two:

It had only been a short time since the tunnel was cleared, yet it was apparent Esdese had decided to break it in. It was late at night. Low visibility. Only the cries and breathing of the creatures lurking in the darkness were her companions in this noisy yet enchanting space. It was enchanting, in a way. What she had heard regarding it. An area where monsters would appear endlessly. That would fill with increasingly challenge and volume the longer you remained. It was as if someone had decided to lay out gifts for her which she could continually open... each with a different subject for whom she could cut into it, experimenting with steel and ice what the limits of each successive victim were capable of enduring... before she would be allowed the pleasure of finding another just like it, with which she could rend a torment a level beyond the last upon.

The howls and screams from the tunnel were far from pleasant. They echoed, reverberating out into the city as if some siren call of death, all being orchestrated by a lone woman who was sating her lust for violence after being far, far too generous to those here in staying her hand. So many were weak. Pathetic. Beneath her. Yet some showed promise. Potential. Some were, dare she say it, stronger than her. In physical strength and powers alone, yet with the right timing... she would break them. Esdese relished the thought. Yet she had held herself back from attacking them without question, as if they would return... she had to find the perfect way to finish them. A way that they would remember. A method of torture in which they would be for her to finish them, or even bow their head and lick her boots in an effort to appease her and be allowed to return to a normal state of living... As much as Haven would allow.

The slaughter continued. It filled her with such ideas. Being allowed this escalation of death and wanton slaughter of monsters, all so unfamiliar and untested by her blade... It was like adding coals into the steam engine that powered the torture device known as her imagination.

It was a truly beautiful night.

Surely all of those in Haven would appreciate the decor she had provided for the tunnel. A coating of blood and flesh, one that only one of her talents could provide. Perhaps she'd show her appreciate to them for clearing it by bringing them back a monster to feast upon. What possible reason could one have to object to that?
