Applications Two

APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED!
The next application opening date is Friday 16th January, 7pm EST.
The next application processing date is Friday 23rd January, 7pm EST.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.

While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

To see what we are looking for:
Canon Characters:
Sample Application (Faith Lehane)

Amaterasu | Ōkami | expired reserve | 2/3

[personal profile] hi_no_de 2014-07-15 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: [ my characterization of Ammy comes from a 100% completion of the game - meaning finding all the hidden goodies and completing all sidequests in addition to the main story, as well as some headcanon. ]

motherly

Amaterasu is referred to by many as "mother to us all" and she certainly acts the part. She sees everyone, whether they be human, animal, or something else entirely, as her own children. Her ultimate motivation is always her love for her world and her people, which shines out of her as generously, brightly, and unconditionally as the sun she controls.

While it is beneficial for her in the end, Ammy seems to genuinely enjoy helping out, even if the task at hand is dangerous. Four different times throughout her journey, she takes on the job of hunting down elusive demons. According to her travelling companion, Issun, she was "really eager to help" when a priestess asks her to accompany her on a dangerous mission in a sunken ship. No task is too beneath her - she'll help an old woman with her laundry or search for a man's lost pet as happily as she would if she were chasing demons.

Like any good mother, Ammy likes to know that her children are well fed and taken care of, and she's generous enough that she doesn't mind paying for supplies herself. One particular quest involves buying medicine a woman can't afford to cure her father. She'll stop to feed any wild animals she comes across. Food is very important to Ammy, as she'll eat just about any fruit or sweet she comes across, so it follows that she'd want everyone to take joy in it!

queenly

Amaterasu is queen of the heavens in her world, with the politeness to match. She'll stop to listen to everyone she comes across and sometimes sits down to listen more attentively. As mentioned above, Ammy enjoys helping out wherever she can, and she can't find out she's needed if she doesn't make it her business to know what the problems are. Turning down someone in need is something that never occurs to her, but she does openly display her displeasure with others at times. When she catches a whiff of an elderly man's rancid sake, she turns her face away and sighs, letting go of her held breath. At the beginning of her journey, Ammy didn't much like Issun, and when he decided he was going to stick around with her, she whined and tried to shake him off of her.

But even a goddess's patience has its limits. Amaterasu will absolutely not tolerate disrespect to herself or her friends. When a man comments that she "doesn't look very smart" near the beginning of her journey, she growls and snarls at him as she sinks into her battle stance. She reacts similarly in her first encounter with Issun. Issun, being of a species no larger than most bugs and a bit of a pervert, had been hiding away in a friend's kimono, and as soon as he jumps out, Ammy snaps to attention and begins growling. When he rudely throws a scroll onto her face in an attempt to show off his art, she repays him by swallowing him and then spitting him back out. Ammy isn't just intolerant of disrespect, but she'll repay it in kind if she feels it goes too far.

young at heart

Despite all her status and divine powers, Ammy is still essentially a big, friendly dog. She loves friendly pats, treats (particularly bones), meeting new people, and digging up peoples' gardens. She loves to play a good game, whether it be running a race, defeating enemies within a time limit, or rolling snowballs. She's gentle and eternally loving, but the goddess can't turn down an opportunity to beat someone else's record the same way she just can't refuse to help someone in need.

Ammy has endless energy that she uses to fight demons, restore the world, and help her people, but she also loves her sleep. Immediately after being awakened from a 100 year sleep to her world shrouded in darkness, her first action is to... yawn, lie down, and attempt to go back to sleep. It certainly didn't help that the friend that had awakened her was taking a long time to say something very simple. When nothing particularly important or exciting is happening, Ammy's attention tends to drift until/unless it is brought back to the matter at hand.

Issun's personal motto "leap before you look" becomes her motto as well during her time with him. Her curiosity and desire to explore (and dig) often leads her to hidden treasures and divine underground springs, but they can also lead her into unexpected dangerous battles with huge demons. Ammy doesn't see far past her snout and hardly ever plans in advance, preferring to charge ahead and do any thinking she needs to do on her paws.

passionate

Once Amaterasu sets her mind to a goal, there's nothing that can stand in her way of achieving it. For example, early in the game, a huge boulder blocks the only road out of the tiny Kamiki Village. Unable to get rid of it herself - she's lost many of her abilities after a century of inaction - Ammy seeks out the strongest of the villagers to move it instead. He'd much rather sleep and tells her to go away. So what does Ammy do? She grabs him, tosses him onto her back, and carries him to the boulder herself.

She trusts her heart before she trusts her head, a trait that's truly a double-edged sword in a world of demons who don't play fair. She'll stop to help any one of her children in need and since she loves and trusts everyone automatically, she can easily be tricked into furthering someone else's schemes. The demon Ninetails disguised itself as a human priestess named Rao, and strung Ammy along in the search for what it claimed was a powerful weapon against evil, the Fox Rods. When the Fox Rods are found, "Rao" insists that the goddess and her companion hand them over, so she can take them to the queen of the nearby city. Issun hesitates, knowing that carrying such a powerful weapon will likely make "Rao" a huge target for demons to go after. It's Ammy who trusts "Rao" enough to personally toss the demon its most valuable weapon. The consequences disastrous, and Ammy has to work tirelessly to undo the damage her naïveté costs.

Her loving nature is easily her greatest weakness, but is also far and away her most potent strength. If Ammy didn't support every person she met with her whole heart, she would be lacking many of her most important allies. When her powers are stripped away from her in the final battle against Yami, the Emperor of Darkness, it is only through the faith all of her people have in her that she is able to not only survive, but to regain the full strength she has been without for her entire journey.

Amaterasu | Ōkami | expired reserve | 3/3

[personal profile] hi_no_de 2014-07-15 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
Abilities/Powers: She has an awful lot of them! I've done my best to list them all and link to entries on the superpower wikia. Due to Haven's mysterious dislike of the written word, her Ink Generation (and thus all of her Celestial Brush abilities) can be disabled, and obviously her purely headcanon abilities.

alpha female
physical abilities

Burrowing: Ammy can dig through solid rock. (the in-universe name for this is Digging Champ)
Combination Attacks
Counter
Double Jump: (the in-universe name for this is Holy Eagle)
Enhanced Bite: Wolves have incredibly powerful jaws - "1000-1500 pounds of pressure per square inch". That's more than three times the amount of power in a human jaw. [x]
Enhanced Durability
Enhanced Smell: A wolf's sense of smell is 100 times better than a humans [x].
Enhanced Speed: She's nowhere near near as fast as say, The Flash, but she's still much faster than other quadrupeds.
Enhanced Stamina
Enhanced Strength: The exact extent of how strong Ammy is seems to vary throughout the game, but she is able to carry at least a grown human male on her back with no problems.
Improbable Weapon Proficiency: Aside from her swords, Ammy's main weapons of choice are mirrors and rosaries.
Night Vision: "Nighttime vision for wolves is many times better than human vision in daytime! Wolves can actually see much better and even much more clearly at night." [x]
Semi-Immortality: Ammy will never age past her physical peak and can only be killed in battle.
Self-Sustenance
Ultra Hearing: Wolves can hear sounds in a higher pitch than humans and at a greater distance.
Wall Jump

master painter
Celestial Brush abilities

Artistic Intuition
Ink Generation: Ammy generates her own ink and stores them in ink pots which gradually refill over time.
Reality Warping: Of a medium-to-advanced level. Ammy can manipulate the world around her by drawing shapes and lines with her ink using the Celestial Brush. Different brush techniques affect reality in different ways.
Symbol Magic
Circadian Control: By drawing a circle in the sky, Ammy uses the Sunrise technique, turning night into day. By drawing a crescent in the sky, she uses the Crescent technique, turning day into night.
Physical Restoration: By filling in the missing pieces of broken or damaged objects with ink, Ammy uses the Rejuvenation technique, restoring it to fullness/working order.
Cutting/Stabbing: Drawing a horizontal or diagonal line through an object or enemy will cut them in half. The Power Slash technique is powerful enough to cut through diamond.
Plant Growth: Ammy can restore life to dying trees or patches of soil by drawing around them. A circle around the bare branches of a dying tree will restore its leaves and blossoms and a line across any soil will cause flowers to bloom in its shape. She can also cause full-sized trees to sprout up from the ground when she drops singular dots on the ground. Ammy can encourage plant growth without ink as well, as flowers spring up in her wake as she runs - the faster she runs the more flowers bloom. Finally the Bloom technique can be used in battle against certain demons, but only if they have some sort of spherical armour (the armour opens up, like a blossoming flower).
Leaf Creation: When Ammy draws a circle on a surface of water, she uses the Water Lily technique, creating lily pads big and strong enough to hold two grown people. She can only create three at a time, however.
Vine Manipulation: Ammy can only use the Vine technique in conjunction with floating flowers called Konohana Blossoms, native to Nippon. When she draws a line from the blossom to herself, she calls a vine from the plant to carry her to the flower.
Volatile Constructs: By drawing a circle with a line intersecting it (think an upside-down Q), Ammy uses the Cherry Bomb technique, creating a large bomb filled with fireworks. She can only create three at a time.
Water Manipulation: Starting an ink line in a source of water invokes the Waterspout technique. The water is controlled by the ink, following the drawn line.
Rain Creation: Drawing two vertical lines brings about the Deluge technique, which causes rain to fall in the immediate location.
Hydroportation: By drawing a swirl over the surface of certain magic pools called mermaid springs, Ammy uses the Fountain technique, which allows her to teleport from one spring to another somewhere else in Nippon.

Divine Wind Manipulation: By drawing a spiral or loop-de-loop, Ammy uses the Galestorm technique, creating divine winds which assist her in battle or just in her travels.
Tornado Creation: Drawing three horizontal lines invokes the Whirlwind technique, which brings a small tornado into being, blowing enemies away and putting out flames.

Fire Manipulation: Drawing a line starting in an ordinary fire allows Ammy to use the Inferno technique, wherein the fire will follow the ink line to its end.
Holy Fire Manipulation: Ammy can create her own fires using two methods. The first is the Fireburst brush technique, invoked by drawing an infinity symbol. The second is her mirror, Solar Flare, which is always surrounded by multi-coloured flames.

Time Reduction: Drawing two horizontal lines brings about the Veil of Mist technique, allowing time to slow down around Ammy for four (regular) seconds.
Catoptric Teleportation: By drawing an X over the surface of an Ultimate Origin Mirror, Ammy can teleport between them using the Mist Warp technique.

Wallcrawling: When Ammy finds jade statues of the cat goddess Kabegami, she can draw a line of paw prints that she can adhere to, allowing her to climb to places she normally wouldn't be able to.
Electricity Manipulation: Ammy can direct electricity by drawing a line between a source and her target using the Thunderstorm technique.
Divine Lightning Manipulation: Ammy can create her own lightning two ways. The first is the Thunderbolt technique, invoked by drawing a zigzag or bolt shape. The second is her sword, Thunder Edge, which sparks lightning constantly.

Ice Manipulation: Ammy can create pathways of ice by drawing a line between an ice source and her target using the Blizzard technique.
Divine Ice Manipulation: Ammy can create her own ice two ways. Firstly, she can use the Icestorm technique, used by drawing an asterisk or and X with a line through the centre. Secondly, she can use her Tundra Beads, a rosary made of icy magic.

goddess
divine abilities

Divine Force Manipulation/Divinity ...obviously
Belief Empowerment/Prayer Empowerment: Ammy becomes stronger the more people believe in her, but prayers specifically to or about her give her a special kick of extra power.
Pure Solar Manipulation/White Light Manipulation

dogmom
pure headcanon (to be allowed or disallowed as per one's wishes)

Healing Kiss: just like a mom's kisses take the pain away from booboos and a dog's loving slobbery kisses welcome you home, Ammy's kisses can heal superficial wounds such as small shallow cuts and bruises.
Stellar Physiology: aside from being the sun goddess, this one originates from the fact that Ammy literally glows once she's accumulated enough praise to level up in-game. Mostly this manifests in headcanon as her constant warm temperature her ability to become hotter and brighter the more emotional or powerful she gets. She never reaches the brightness or heat that her ultimate form, Shiranui, gives off naturally however.

Items/Weapons:Solar Flare, her most powerful mirror
Thunder Edge, her most powerful sword
☀ A peace bell, which keeps demons/monsters at bay.

Sample Entry: http://haventest.dreamwidth.org/48027.html

Sample Entry Two: The stench of evil hits her long before she sees it.

Luckily Issun seems just as surprised as she is. She wouldn't have liked being the only one caught off guard. Of course she had suspected Nippon was in a bad state - Sakuya wouldn't have woken her up if everything was peaceful - but this...

She lets out a low whine as Issun points out the withered Guardian Sapling in the distance. Easily one half of the once-beautiful Shinshu Field is blanketed in an unholy aura like black writhing clouds rimmed with red. This was /her/ land and it was /her/ duty to protect it, and although she knew that the damage had been done long before she had awakened, she can't help but feel the weight of guilt on her shoulders.

Her attention turns back to the Poncle slowly as he starts to talk about the Sapling. "Maybe the natural beauty here would return if we revived it... but how the heck would we do that anyway?" he muses.

Amaterasu snorts through her nose softly in reply. Before her one hundred year slumber, she could easily revive the Guardian Sapling with a quick wave of her brush. But she knows that there's no use dwelling on the past when there were urgent tasks to be done in the present.

Still, it is rather infuriating that demons had encroached this far into her land. Luckily the rotten smell of demons comes to her on the wind, and when she turns to look, a demonic scroll floats by atop a hill.

She takes off at full speed for it, with Issun yelping about giving him a warning next time from her back. But she wasn't going to slow down for his sake. Getting rid of demons and being able to take out her frustration at the same time was an opportunity she wouldn't miss.

Yuyuko Saigyouji | Touhou Project | expired reserve

[personal profile] bloomnobly 2014-07-15 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
Previous Game History:
Long story short, Yuyuko was in two previous games, both murder mysteries. Firstly was [community profile] blankstate, with a Mafia-styled premise based around guilt. Secondly was [community profile] cravencastle, which was more traditionally-based with conscious killers and tailored executions.

Primarily in Blank State, the killers were possessed by evil entities that fed off their unresolved guilt and committed murders. At first, no one knew why they were there, and their "host" had them solve these murders via a storytelling proxy based on the guilt in their hearts. Fortunately, Yuyuko was never possessed nor murdered by these spirits. Unfortunately, her closest canonmate Youmu Konpaku was mistakenly executed in the second trial, believing herself to be the guilty party for "allowing" Yuyuko to endanger her own life in canon. Although Maya Fey was able to channel Youmu's spirit and reveal that the dead were still sort of around them, talking to Youmu did jack squat to alleviate her feelings of helplessness. The guilt of believing she had let Youmu die by not arguing her case better was a guilt she carried with her for the rest of the game. That, combined with her life as a human were used as character frameworks to pin her as suspects two different cases. Although she had kept it hidden for obvious reasons, her nature as a suspect forced her to reveal her living days and subsequent death to the game as a whole. Naturally, this left her distraught as get-all.

Though they managed to save a good number of the possessed by erasing their guilt, this ended up hurting them in the end, because the cat revealed that they had all been transported into his domain for a chance at saving their lives--three more people needed to die for any of them to be able to go home. Although Yuyuko aimed to stay alive for the sake of having the Saigyou Ayakashi sealed up again, her good will and desire to save Maya's life bit her in the ass, and she ended up getting killed in an overpowered three-way fight to the death with Kouha Ren (who was being channeled by Maya) and Kaoru Nagumo.

Ultimately, though, she and Youmu achieved their somewhat-happy endings. After some bargaining with the cat, the living players banded together to rescue the dead, giving them a small chance at saving themselves once again. Yuyuko, in particular, was rescued by Kaoru from the Saigyou Ayakashi tree, ironic considering he was the most responsible for her earlier death. Despite having a significantly reduced chance at saving their lives, she and Youmu set out for Gensokyo again with hope in their hearts.

....which would be all fine and dandy, if she didn't get kidnapped on the way home and stuck in a televised murder mystery game. All of Yuyuko's memories of Blank State as well as a good deal of her canon ones were temporarily locked away (though she regained them after her death). On the flip side of things, she herself was the victim of the fifth week, having her powers canceled mid-flight and crashing to the ground. In a bout of the most ridiculous irony ever, it was because of her kind nature and desire to save the life of Maya yet again.

Yuyuko has since made her peace with the going-ons at Blank State, though she is still somewhat bitter towards her killer (Phoenix Wright) for murdering her in such an underhanded manner, and outright using Mei as bait. She holds no such hostility towards Kouha and Kaoru, as it was both a combat death fought fairly and things worked out in the end regardless. Despite Maya inadvertently "killing" her in both instances, she still fairly likes her and holds no ill will towards her. Although Maya was able to capitalize off of her second death by retiring from the game, Yuyuko is merely happy that she actually did save her this time, albeit in a roundabout way. She and Austria also mutually apologized, as they came to see each other's point of view on the situation regarding Youmu. As Austria was the true culprit and let Youmu take the fall for her, Yuyuko was understandably angry with her when they met in the graveyard--as even though Yuyuko assisted in taking down her possessed body, she was still responsible for Youmu's death in a way. Nevertheless, they ended things on a peaceful note.

Notably, she was also close with Mei Misaki and (sort of) Kaoru. Mei was her closest friend in the castle, the two having stuck together after a temporary bout of hopelessness on Mei's part. Yuyuko was privy to the details of Mei's history that she otherwise kept locked away, and vice versa. Despite the clashing personalities, she enjoyed the girl's company--though this was used against her in her murder. As Mei had been non-lethally poisoned in order to draw Yuyuko away from the crowd, she directly witnessed Yuyuko's death and felt semi-responsible for it. Unable to do anything from her position in the graveyard, Yuyuko focused most of her frustration on beating up Phoenix. Hooray...? As per Kaoru, they were "closer" in Blank State than in the castle, but she still took amusement out of bothering him. That's really the core of it--he gave her the reactions she liked, and so she kept subtlety prodding him, even after he revealed himself to be a human-hating genocidal maniac. Which, directly speaking, is the type of person Yuyuko is least likely to get along with. Nevertheless, he did save her from the wrath of Murdertree, so she still rather likes him and believes she owes him some sort of favor. Ye Olden Times gotta stick together, or something like that. Surprisingly, her relationship with Youmu didn't change much in-game.

Overall, Yuyuko is extremely homesick and still a bit bitter over her more recent murder. As a note, the game is likely ending some time next month, and I plan on updating her memories for closure's sake.

Yuyuko Saigyouji | Touhou Project | expired reserve

[personal profile] bloomnobly 2014-07-15 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:
Outwardly, Yuyuko is cheerful to a fault and always optimistic (though not to a point of stupidity). She enjoys talking to people and sticking her nose in places it doesn't belong, and welcomes everyone with open arms and an open heart. She likes humans by default, and if any in her watch find themselves in trouble, she will make sure that they end up safe and back in their rightful place. She treats her bodyguard, Youmu, more like a dear family member or treasured companion than a servant, which is indicative of her general way of forming bonds -- it doesn't take a whole to get her to like someone and latch onto them.

However, her sunny side isn't without its downfalls, that being she's a bit of an airhead. Yuyuko has an infamous love for food and anything relating to it; she won't hesitate to steer conversations into the realm of food, and is said to always have a food-related quip on hand. Her attention span is limited at best, her mind constantly wandering astray from relevant topics. She's easily distracted to a ridiculous level, following and fixating on anything that catches her fancy--such as when she tries to resurrect her own corpse because she wondered whose corpse it was in the first place, belying the whole can of worms that opened up. At worst, she once forgot what she had for breakfast that morning, and put her focus on trying to eat a sentient night sparrow character because she "looked tasty." "What does this button do?" seems to be a question she asks often, or forgets to ask in preference of pushing the mystery button first and asking questions later.

But Yuyuko is undeniably an actress -- it's subject to debate how much of her outward personality is just that, an act. It's heavily suggested that her airheadedness is all a carefully-constructed ruse for the sake of entertainment, and at the very least, she does play dumb at convenient times. In reality, she's proven herself time and time again to actually be incredibly intelligent, and perceptive to a frightening degree. Yuyuko is cunning and a very good manipulator, managing to out-gambit both her closest friend, Yukari, and a great deal of the Lunarians, as proven when she managed to interfere in a carefully-planned trip to the moon that was already being pseudo-sabotaged by two different parties. It resulted in her waltzing into the moon's capitol in broad daylight (relatively speaking), allowing her to steal things from their treasury...even though all she took in the end was a thousand-year-old bottle of sake, which brings us to: Yuyuko often does things or makes comments to rile people up or make them uncomfortable, as getting reactions is a source of amusement for her. She teases Youmu on a regular basis and is often intentionally vague when people ask her questions just to see them get irritated. In that case, Yukari expected her to make off with expensive treasures or legendary weapons, yet all she presented was a bottle of alcohol. Yukari is oft-touted as the series' master manipulator, yet even she can't always read Yuyuko or predict her movements.

Otherwise, Yuyuko is what you'd expect from the daughter of a nobleman, and the last remaining head of the Saigyouji family. She's a bit spoiled, and as such can come off as lazy and flighty when she expects people to do things for her or pick up after her, and she can be a tad bit entitled. She's also a voracious reader, probably contributing to her intelligence. Fitting her position, she is charming, ladylike, and cultured. Although Youmu is supposed to be her swordsmanship instructor, she often forgoes lessons because she finds swordfighting 'unrefined,' and doesn't feel like wasting her time with it. Yuyuko takes her position as the head of the Netherworld (and really, all grave, serious situations) as no joking matter, dropping all presets of being an incompetent, bumbling ditz. Despite her overall eccentricity, she was given her position of power for a reason. It's difficult to make her truly angry, and she finds it hard to hold grudges, even with wrongdoings against herself....though when she does get mad, it's said she's terrifying.

But such a summary is incomplete without mentioning Yuyuko's life as a human. Back then, she was an anxiety-ridden girl suffering from severe depression and lack of self-worth due to the fear of her powers. Canon doesn't make it clear whether or not her powers would go off at random, or if it was an isolated incident or two, but either way it is what instilled most of Yuyuko's morals into her. As such she values the lives of the innocent, particularly humans, to big degrees. As she became amnesiac after she died, she was something of a blank slate and her personality changed accordingly. Having forgotten the toll her powers took on her and those around her and essentially coming into the world as a supernatural being from the very start, she viewed her powers trivially, calling them 'fun' and flippantly disregarding the heroines' pleas for her to stop her insane corpse-resurrecting plot. She was more arrogant and foolhardy, and it wasn't until she regained her sorrowful human memories that she also regained a large amount of her humility and kindness.

Abilities/Powers: tl;dr, she's ridiculously overpowered
Manipulation of spirits - is able to control and will spirits (and the deceased that can be classified as such) to her bidding; this extends to her being able to move spirits out of their physical bodies as a form of insta-death, but that's obviously nerf'd.
Ghostly state - she's a kind of immortal and can thus regenerate from both minor and serious wounds; she can also fly and turn herself intangible to phase through solid objects and walls/floors. she'll also ping as dead/inhuman for anyone with relevant powers.
Danmaku - multi-colored energy bullets in set patterns designed for long-range combat, they pack extremely strong concussive blasts and are debilitating in a small number of hits (but one can dodge them to no ill-affect if they have the necessary swiftness AMONG A MILLION OTHER RESTRICTIVE RULES). As a final boss, Yuyuko is insanely good at using these, and her higher-level spellcards require a pretty inhuman reaction time.
Fighting skills - provided she can't use her danmaku, Yuyuko's also a pretty good physical fighter. She's in tip-top shape and is especially well-versed in fighting with folding fans.
Items/Weapons:
✿ a pair of war fans; can fold, made of metal
✿ her alt black dress
✿ a brass oil lantern
Sample Entry: pseudo-hauntings for the sake of popularity THAT DIDN'T EVEN HELP HER
Sample Entry Two:
Funny the thing that bothered her the most was that there weren't any books in this gods-forsaken pit. Or any writing at all, for that matter. Everything had started with a book, a library. Who knew how many volumes of poetry her father had written in his hey-days, but she'd never get to see it as long as she was here. Not even an imprint on foggy glass or tracing in the dirt, as she found those, too, would vanish. It was almost maddening. For how many years had she lived with her own personal library? And now there was nothing, not even one of Shameimaru's trashy newspapers to flip through.

It made her wonder what became of her letter to Yukari. Someone had taken it from her desk, but what had they done with it? Would it ever reach its recipient? She supposed it was nothing but idle thought at this point. There was nothing she could do here that would affect the things happening back in that castle. She wasn't Yukari--she couldn't rip open a tear in the air and hop back into that dreadful dimension to sort out her last wills. As if she would want to.

At least this place, whatever it was (a haven, sure, and she was the goddess of life) didn't feel so claustrophobic and personally out to cause her misery. A widespread misery was easier to handle. It always was.

Character Name: Mikado Ryuugamine
Canon: Durarara!!
Canon Point: The end of Volume 8! ("Adabashi Arc", on his wikia page)
Background/History: Wikia!
Personality:
Mikado is a boy who appears to be nothing special at all, nothing but plain and polite. Someone who keeps to himself, comes back home at reasonable times in the night, and definitely doesn't socialize much when there's not a screen in front of him.

While it normally might be seen as insulting to guess a person is this "boring", guessing Mikado to be this way would be undeniably correct.

When you're born in a small town where everyone knows everyone and there's way too much sky and not enough to do, it reflects on you. There are exceptions, but Mikado is not one of them. He speaks politely and carefully, trying to choose his words well enough that often he will stutter or trip over them, often starting sentences by trailing into them, or finishing them by trailing away. He refers to everyone in polite, formal ways, respectfully calling people by their last name and using the Japanese honorific "-san" (or "-kun" if they're his age or younger), unless instructed to use their first name, which he'll still tack an honorific onto for the sake of being polite. Living around other people who lived small town lives with small town personalities, Mikado is quite naive, easily falling for guises and trusting people that probably should not be trusted.

A small town can be full of excitement and adventure when you're young, but when you grow older and when your best friend moves to the city it can quickly lead to a boring, unexciting life. That boring, unexciting life was exactly the thing that Mikado wanted to get rid of. He loves cliches, and would much rather live a cliched life full of excitement and maybe danger than something day-to-day.

At first it was created as a joke, but the gang that Mikado created online, "Dollars", in tangent with moving from his small town home to big-city Ikebukuro, is what sparked in giving Mikado that exciting and "unusual" life that he had dreamed of having. A city is full of life and adventures and is constantly changing. Something that is there one day might not be there the next, and change like that around every corner is definitely not the every day life Mikado tried to escape. When in a constantly growing and changing city that houses the endless sea of a gang that he created, Ikebukuro is exactly that escape he needed.

While he's still meek, Mikado is still serious and brave enough of a leader when he needs to be. He's smart enough to know his strengths and weaknesses, using the sheer number of Dollars members to intimidate someone who had more strength than him instead of foolishly trying to fight. When he's like that, it's almost as if he isn't Mikado at all. He uses a strong tone of voice, one that's much different than the quiet and soft-spoken one he uses in day-to-day life. It's almost cliche how much of a change he can make of himself depending on his situation, and being a lover of cliches, Mikado would be glad to be told that.
If an opportunity like that doesn't arise, however, Mikado isn't above grabbing whoever he's with at the time and fleeing with them to safety, despite lacking in the speed department as well. The safety and security of his friends and those around him is a big deal for him, being the kind of guy who will take an hour to make a decision if it in some way could involve one of his friends in a negative way, or the kind of guy who will take it upon himself to try to help out a friend he'd just met when it comes to a missing person.

Of course, if one doesn't have friends to protect, it's hard for the protective side of someone to come out. Although he did have good enough relations with people back in his home town for them to bring him souvenirs when he opted out of class trips, his best friend had moved away when they were younger, leaving him slightly alone. Kida is someone who is close enough to Mikado that the boy doesn't have to be so polite, often making mildly sarcastic playful jabs at his friend's flashy personality. Even though Mikado is a reserved person, he allows himself to be draped and jumped on, letting Kida completely demolish anything close to "personal space" when he's around. Kida is the reason that Mikado had come to Ikebukuro in the first place, happily accepting moving to the big city after being invited to go to the same school as his friend once again. He trusts Kida's every word, although sometimes doesn't exactly follow all of his advice. They're close enough that even a new friend the two made, Anri, notices it after only spending an afternoon with them. Anri is a class representative with Mikado, and a girl he got to know after trying to save her from some bullies. She called herself a parasite, said that she was living off of the warmth of another girl too easily, and after hearing her story almost immediately tries to help her find that friend. The three of them together, Mikado, Kida and Anri, have a warm relationship together, which is often joked at being a "Love Triangle", as it's apparent that there are feelings developed within it. Of course, with Mikado being kind, trusting, and most of all naive, it leaves him open to being fooled easily by a kind face. Thinking that Izaya is as kind and helpful as his online persona "Kanra", Mikado trusts him enough to ask for advice when it comes to his gang, not knowing that he's being played for fun and information.

The gang that Mikado created, Dollars, at first started off just as something fun between a few online friends. It wasn't supposed to be something that existed in the real world, just something made for fun to see if it could be done. But when more people got the email to join, when more people called them self "Dollars", Mikado knew that he needed to take on responsibility as the founder. When the entry page that was initially used to write down one bad thing you've done in order to join Dollars went from harmless and fun things like "I drew eyebrows on my dog" to "I stole so I could be part of Dollars", Mikado felt guilty for being the one who caused those crimes to happen, and he immediately took down the page. When those who seemed like they would be in Dollars, people who were "colourless" and "invisible", began getting attacked, Mikado threatened to disband the gang. Although it was something that was his and his work, it would be selfish to keep together something that was harming the people in it. However, he was talked out of it by his members, being told that Dollars gave them pride, a place to be, a sense of connectivity to a sea of people that knew no bounds in Ikebukuro. The people of Dollars were already colourless and invisible, so they wouldn't be able to disappear even if they were told to. Mikado takes responsibility for the gang once again, this time when attacks in the name of Dollars are taken out and get out of hand, using the loophole of "Dollars has no rules, doesn't it?" to get away with it. After getting worried that they're out of his control, Mikado denies almost immediately that he's excited about this when confronted.

As the story goes on, it's shown that Mikado has begun to show that he's not exactly as stable as he outwardly appears. He's smiling a smile even he wasn't aware of when even more exciting things are offered to happen, such as taking on a figure head position of a facet off of Dollars called "Blue Square". However, he rejects this giddy excitement with harsh anger, which he reflects on as something that he never let surface before, even in prior harsh situations. That was the kind of thing that Mikado didn't want to admit about himself, making him stand in shock for ten minutes after he realized it was true. That's the beginning point in when he slowly begins to lose his grip on the content, naive Mikado, into someone who is overcome with brief surges of "black feelings", such as only feeling bored by a person as he's beaten unconscious, getting offended when someone else decides he's a "mere human" and therefor not a target, and hating himself for being so useless and yet self-important in the middle of a gang war. The final push he needed was being told to leave Dollars by someone he outed himself as the leader to, being told that someone with such warm eyes as him would never belong on that side. An unnatural and exciting life was all he wanted, and he had been pushed to his limit enough for being told he'd never fit one that he stood in the street and cried. The "normal Mikado" is nowhere to be found when he calls Blue Square to another meeting, where he stabs Aoba with a pen after telling him they were to sign a contract. He wasn't going to let someone be under him who wasn't going to "stomach the full wrath of his anger" when precious friends were dragged into dangerous situations he wanted them nowhere near. He snaps back to the kind and naive Mikado as soon as there's an agreement, even apologizing and bandaging the hand he'd attacked. His mood swings are rather disturbing, and a big sign that he's no longer stable or "normal".

He goes onto taking the "corruption" of Dollars into his own hands, as it's his personal responsibility as it's creator, "purging" those who he finds unideal to be in the group with outright violence. When confronting a stalker that is tarnishing the reputation of Dollars, he ends up going as far as to setting him on fire. It's around that point that he's beginning to see Ikebukuro as dangerous. He meets with Kida after six months, but tells him that no, this shouldn't happen yet. From this point on, Mikado has the goal to "creat somewhere that Masaomi and Sonohara-san can return to.".

Abilities/Powers: There is absolutely nothing special about him, and that’s sort of the point to his character! He’s a normal boy who goes to bed at a normal time with normal nerd physique. No powers, no fighting skills!
Items/Weapons: A lighter and his Blue Square shark-face hood mask!
Sample Entry: a musebox post!
Sample Entry Two:
When he's pulled out of his deep sleep by the screech of the alarm clock, Mikado's first thoughts are that he must have passed out from the physical trauma of having his head repeatedly smashed against a brick wall. It's a calm, matter of fact thought, as if he were thinking about waking up to rain. The sight, though, wasn't one expected of someone in his condition. His head pounds as he sits up, tapping off the alarm clock. Did Aoba-kun and the others skip out on taking him to a Hospital, and bring him to another warehouse instead...? They could be avoiding questioning as to how Mikado came about the injuries. This place, though... It seemed as if this room were barely held together. Is this really such a good idea, taking him here instead of getting medical help...? Reaching up to touch his face, the boy mutters a soft ouch as his fingers ghost over his cracked cheekbone.

This might be a kidnapping, is his next thought. While he was out, Aoba-kun and the others may have been attacked, and since they were injured... It would be easy enough to pick up the unconcious person they'd been carrying and whisk them away, right...? His chest tightens, and in that moment, Mikado can't tell if it's from fear, or excitement. Isn't this like the beginning of an exciting story? It's almost as cliched as it can get, but it's also... obviously very dangerous.

"Ah, this is..." His voice escapes in something that's almost like relief, upon noticing the cell phone resting on the head of his bed. It hadn't quite clicked, right away, that the phone wasn't his, at first, but... No. The design was completely different, he didn't have a touch screen like this--. ...Did it belong to his kidnapper? They may call him with their demands. Something inside of him twists inside of him and the corner of his lip turns up in a darkened smile. ...Really, isn't this just arming him, though...?

But, his heart sinks upon swiping the screen, upon seeing -- Pictures? There was no number pad function, let alone a keyboard. How could he "use the power of numbers", like this...? With a sigh and a groan, he slumps back down onto the bed.

"How troublesome..."

Tsunade ♠ Naruto ♠ beyonce style surprise! | 2/4

[personal profile] godaime 2014-07-16 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:
When one thinks of Tsunade, you’re never quite sure what they’re going to think. It could anything from her astounding strength, to her monstrous temper, to her history with gambling and losing everything, to her drinking, to her skills as a medic and one of Konoha’s legendary and greatest Hokages. However, when one first meets Tsunade, one of the most revered and honored kunoichi in the world, the first impression they get may not be their greatest. First, she definitely has some temper issues. Naruto listing her bad qualities resulted in her challenging him to a fight. Keep in mind Naruto was, at the time, twelve years old and indefinitely weaker than her. When Orochimaru and Kabuto bring up her loved ones and insult them in front of Tsunade’s eyes, her response is to go berserk and begin to smash everything in her path. Finally, this trait is apparent after returning to Konoha and before she even left. She ends up calling the Third Hokage, her teacher, a shitty old man for not taking her advice, and even calls Gaara, another Kage of a powerful village, a little shit when he disagreed with her plan to let Naruto and B fight the war. As a final example, she often destroys her desks in small fits of irritation at slight provocations. In fact, it’s been lampshaded that Tsunade buys them in bulk because of the frequency they’re reduced to splinters. When she catches Jiraiya spying on her, she ends up breaking two of his arms, most of his organs ruptured, and six of his ribs. That’s quite a tempered response.

Her outrageous temper is far from her only vice too. Tsunade is quite notably a very social drinker. She drinks with Jiraiya three times in two days, getting drunk on each occasion. She also has been noted to blow off work or very important duties so she can go have a nice little bottle of saké, or, to tend to her other past time, gambling. It’s noted that Tsunade’s drinking was so prevalent, the editor ordered Kishimoto to cut it entirely or save it rare occasions. Regardless, she still makes plenty of appearances with a bottle in the series, and, the databook states her favorite food is saké. However, her all time favorite vice is gambling. Tsunade’s life before becoming the Hokage for twenty years consisted of gambling, gambling, and gambling. Her gambling was so prevalent, Jiraiya was only able to find her by her nickname, “the Legendary Sucker” because of her tendency to blow through extremes amount of money on gambling and lose every drop of it because of a hilariously unlucky streak. In fact, for the past twenty years, Tsunade borrowed massive amounts of money, gambled it all away, and then changed her appearance and skipped town to avoid debt collectors which speaks volumes about her habits. There is also her laziness. Tsunade can most commonly be seen avoiding her massive, mind boggling amounts of paperwork. In fact, her laziness has often lead to her blowing off work all together, or, perhaps even more telling, taking on the job naps at her desk. Another thing to note is that Tsunade is certainly a very vain woman. Despite being fifty, and looking about seventy thanks to Sozo Saisei (more on that later), she constantly employs a transformation Jutsu to keep herself looking younger for no other purpose than vanity. If one were to point this out and call her old, her nasty temper flares up. The word old from Naruto caused Tsunade to pound a table, and, when Jiraiya called her old, her response was simply to yell at him and criticize him for his own perverseness. Whatever you say about Tsunade, one thing will always remain constant - she does have her flaws.

One thing to note in relation to Tsunade’s temper is her toughness. Tsunade is quite the bold person. She says what she wants to say and is often very, very cocky. Her bluntness doesn’t hold back for her calling Jiraiya a perv and rejecting him (again), or insulting and snarking at the other kages, and blatantly telling other people that she really is going to kick her ass. She even stands up to a terrorist who invaded her village, telling him off for his twisted philosophies and injustice towards her village and its people. Her arrogance is a particularly noticeable point. She repeatedly places her abilities ahead of others, stating that she’ll be able to win against them with ease, or telling Naruto it’ll only take a finger to win against him. Finally, she states she can heal anything and everything and that she can’t lose by sheer virtue of her importance and ability. Her boldness is quite a difficult part of her personality in tandem with her determination. There’ll be absolutely nothing that stops Tsunade. When Pain ends up nuking Konoha, Tsunade, who is close to death from healing everyone in her village, ends up clearing fifty meters in seconds to fight a man who killed her equal despite being close to death. When Tsunade decides that Naruto should be allowed out of the village and to fight, she butts heads with just about everyone else in the series, from the elders, Shizune, the rest of the Kages, and Danzo. She doesn’t once change her opinion despite being toppled, and, the second she’s able to bring it up again and physically fight for it, she indeed does so. When Orochimaru and Kabuto attempt to flee, Tsunade chases them for miles, attacking and smashing everything in her path.

There’s many things Tsunade is, but a quitter isn’t one of them. Madara also learned this quite the hard way. After Madara, one of the strongest ninja in history who, at this point, has received multiple power upgrades that has outclassed pretty much every alive ninja, insulted Tsunade for just about... her entire existence, Tsunade responded that the one trait she received from her amazingly powerful Grandfather is her unbending will and if he thinks that his words alone will discourage her he has another thing coming. She then personally proceeded to thrash him about, refusing to give up even when she had two swords in the middle of her abdomen. In fact, she gladly risked her life and the last of her chakra batting away fireballs from the other Kage (village leader) even knowing the consequences might end with her personal death.

With these personality traits, dealing with Tsunade is a bit difficult. Her brash, free-spirited, recklessness is a trait that has made her practically famous in and of its own right.
However, despite this, Tsunade can also often appear carefree and jovial. She’ll sometimes give off a loud, great, smile whenever she hears great news or wants to appear particularly reassuring. Whenever she’s in a mood that doesn’t involve anything that can properly irritate her (which, granted is a lot of things) or doesn’t require a serious outlook, she can have an energetic, and very upbeat and cocky demeanor. When she returns to Konoha, she goes through every room and heals the entire hospital population while having a cocky grin and hopping around the entire floor to the point where Shikamaru asks, “Hey? Who’s the lady with the big personality?”. When she gives a gift to Nawaki, she appears bubbly and carefree, grinning and even teasing Nawaki with a great amount of elation. She later reciprocates this attitude towards Naruto in a similar circumstance. She gives him a necklace and then, at a later date, grins at him and tells him he’ll make a fine man someday.

Despite this, Tsunade’s tough exterior has a rather soft and sweet interior. Despite how she readily criticizes and bluntly tells off Naruto, her faith in him is almost unrivaled. She’s stuck up for him constantly behind closed doors no matter what the risk is. After challenging Naruto to a fight, instead of striking him, she kisses him and tells him to grow up to be a fine man someday. Another example of this is when Naruto readily blames Jiraiya’s death on her, she does not yell at him, she just lets him go to deal with the feelings because she cared for him and didn’t want to upset him further. Other examples of her great love for Konoha, and its people who constitute for her soft side are consoling Shikamaru at his mission’s failure stating he still did a great job, healing Rock Lee to help him continue his dream, or readily accepting Sakura as an apprentice to aid her and her ambitions. However, her biggest example of her love came during Konoha’s invasion. Her love for the village caused her to heal everyone in the village she could, and to protect them from anything that came in their path. In fact, her effort and love that went into healing and protecting thousands ended up landing her into a comatose state, which says volumes about her dedication towards Konoha and its people and how willing she is to protect people she loves or innocent people in general. She definitely has her flaws in being a rough, cocky alcoholic gambler, but she also tries to bolster other people's confidence, and wishes to provide a supporting, nurturing foundation on which the whole world can thrive on and, to this extent, she definitely gives her all to this goal. Once Tsunade is in your corner, she won't leave and if you're supposedly on her side yet don't have faith in it, she will chew you out. Just ask the village elders she ripped a new one because they lacked the faith in the new generation she had.

In fact, Tsunade's selfless in the sense that, often times, she'll be her last priority. When she woke up from being defeated by Madara, her first reaction was to use the last of energy to help the other injured village leaders despite the fact that, at this point, she was chopped in half. Also, of note, her dream world included Orochimaru, a bitter and sworn enemy showing that, despite her tough front, she truly did care for him and was pained by his defection. She was also quite thankful towards him when he came and saved her life, despite her initial brash greeting of him, because, hey, the last time they saw each other she laid the smackdown of a lifetime to his face. The deaths of her subordinates and friends is something that definitely shakes up Tsunade to the point where she's willing to use herself as a human shield to prevent their injuries. The deaths of Dan, her lover, and Nawaki, her brother, affected her enough that she chose to give up fighting and a career as a ninja altogether. When Naruto was almost dying because of a well-placed attack to the heart, Tsunade started to cry and personally pump his heart, outright panicking and screaming for him to not die. Tsunade isn't all bad, in fact, she's a pretty good person and wishes for a world peace and the thriving of the younger generation.

A great example for her contrast between her tough personality and her inner gentleness can be found in Jiraiya. When Tsunade stated that she’d be upset if she lost Jiraiya, Jiraiya replies with laughter stating that it’s rich that she’s actually going to cry for him. Tsunade replies angrily stating that she isn’t ever going to be crying for someone like him. Despite this, his death undoubtably left a deep scar on her. Tsunade attempts to keep control and not let his death get to her for a while. She works for a couple of days, seemingly fine. However, the moment she steps outside and blows off Shikamaru, she ends up collapsing in the hallway, crying over the lost of her friend. Something she directly stated she’d never do, most likely out of her feisty personality.

Finally, it should be noted that Tsunade is a very competent leader in general. She’s able to formulate teams that work well together, create organizations for specific purposes, and create strategies based on the limited information she receives. She was able to rebuild Konoha twice, and improve relations with countries that just previously attacked the village. She even reciprocated these favors towards the village, and, was stated to be the best pick for the Head Commander of the united Shinobi army (that consists of 6 military, economic, and political strong holds) if it wasn’t for her comatose state. In fact, she was considered to be such a great leader, that the Fire Daimyo, her boss, was hesitant to replace a comatose Tsunade and bring in another kage. In other words: even a comatose Tsunade is still the best leader Konoha has to offer.

Abilities/Powers:
Oh boy, oh boy. Tsunade is quite a pain to deal with in fighting. Her combat is cornered around her insane strength and her, quite frankly, ridiculous endurance and healing talents.

Tsunade has unparalleled Chakra Control. Chakra is the natural spiritual energy that is used for fighting techniques in Naruto. It's also a life force. Without it, you will die. Tsunade's control over chakra means that she does not waste excess chakra in performing her techniques which means that she has the potential to fight for hours consecutively. Additionally, because of her heritage, she has naturally mammoth chakra reserves, being able to heal thousands of people at once in one arc when it was stated healing a single person takes up a lot of chakra. She also has a second set of chakra because of a seal, putting her in the upper 10% in terms of chakra reserves.

First, her primary ability, is her massive strength. Madara, an almost mythic ninja who has faced countless strong opponents and has experience with ninjas from every walk of life, stated that her strength is simply intense and a cut above the rest of the characters he's faced. After a single punch, she was able to crack his supposedly impenetrable shield and another kick blew it fully open, causing him to recant his statement about her weakness. Orochimaru, a teammate for decades and an expert on her strength said a single hit from her can kill and indeed, when she has split open the street with a single finger and demolished an alleyway with a kick, it's really hard to dispute that. Her strength isn't limited to just striking either, it's indicated that a lot of it is sheerly natural and is merely enhanced with the application and release of chakra at specific moments. She was able to wield a skyscraper-sized sword and accurately guide it into a giant snake's mouth before it could close its jaws.

However, she has other close range combat skills in case her strength is failing her. Ranshishou is a technique that scatters the nervous system and makes it so if they were to move their arm, for example, they'd end up moving a heel or something similar.

Tsunade's most legendary skill, however, is her medical prowess. She can use ninjutsu known as Shosen to speed up her body's natural healing process. Her skill with this technique is so notable that she can regenerate an eye just by touching someone and can heal a leg with a single touch. Her skills as a medic is so great, she was able to heal thousands of people simultaneously twice over with the help of her summon, Katsuyu. Additionally, she can transfer her chakra to others and supercharge their techniques like a living chakra battery. Her ability to heal others surpasses physical afflictions and can go right beyond into mental afflictions, as she was able to heal someone from a mental affliction that put them into a comatose implying a significant knowledge in the human psyche. Orochimaru said there was no wound she couldn't heal and personally sought her out to heal his arms which were claimed and sealed by the grim reaper himself. Tsunade, despite being out of practice for multiple decades, didn't refute this claim. Additionally, Tsunade is a master at poisons, although this rarely shows it hand. She was able to drug Jiraiya without his knowledge, stating that was something only she could do. Chiyo, her archenemy from wartime, stated that Tsunade would be able to counter her poisons without fail and create antidotes. Medicine is Tsunade's forte and she remains unsurpassed in such a field.

Another technique she can use is chakra scalpel, which converts chakra into a blade that can sever muscles or, if placed accurately, kill by slicing arteries or attacking the heart directly. When Kabuto used a chakra scalpel offensively, she stated that his precision and skill with it in an offensive setting surpassed hers indicating familiar usage with it in a combat setting despite this she has only used it to cut open Naruto's shirt.

Her medical techniques have a limited offensive usage, in that it can overload a person's respiratory system and cause them to pass out. She was also able to use this technique with a "killing intent" that Kabuto identified as something that would kill Orochimaru, a supposedly immortal man that has cheated death more times than one could count. However, she took hella days to load this super kill technique and thus it's highly interruptible.

Tsunade is also the master at seals. Her own seal, Strength of a Hundred Seal, can be released to replenish her chakra reserves as it is made up of chakra that she has stored in her forehead for a really rainy day. From here, the chakra can be used for creation rebirth, a technique which allowed her to regenerate any type of damage she has received, including organs and limbs. Or, she can use this for the Strength of a Hundred Technique, which allows her to regenerate in the middle of combat without the use of hand signs and without conscious thought. With this, she brags about how she's immortal on the battlefield and will never die. However, the techniques shorten her lifespan because of a finite amount of cells she can generate, also it ages her incredibly. Despite being in her mid-fifties, without her transformation technique she easily looks like she's older than the Golden Girls put together. If she runs of chakra, the technique ends, but she is also able to reseal the technique at will making this an unlikely circumstance that just coincidentally happens every time she fights.

Another technique she has is to vitalize her body to move at incredible bursts of speed noted as Shushin Jutsu. However, this is the only way she has to increase her speed and she's not a very fast person without it. She mostly uses this it transport herself from one location to another quickly. After Konoha was reduced to a parking lot, she cleared about half of her city in a single second thanks to, presumably, this technique. Otherwise, Kishimoto created a minor plothole since speed is officially not her forte. Despite this, Tsunade isn't easy to hit in combat once she recognizes your fighting style. She's able to predict attacks and use her predictions to avoid attacks and, considering how she's been fighting for years, she's very good at this, being able to evade an underground ambush despite not knowing when it'd happen.

Tsunade also has a ridiculously high damage soak, being able to endure impossible amounts of damage. Buildings falling on her? She gets up perfectly fine and is just pissed that the building fell. Being stabbed three times in the chest? Turns out, the only thing holding her back from moving and not being a useless mess was her fear of blood, not the actual stab wounds. A jutsu that can supposedly rip people to shreds because they're traveling at the speed of light? Tsunade received several internal and external lacerations, but she was intact which is a considerable feat. She was able to move with two giant blades inside her torso. But, her most telling feat of durability was when she was chopped in half and still summoned Katsuyu to heal the other Kage. Nothing appears to slow Tsunade down and when she falls, its often due to chakra exhaustion.

Finally, there's Katsuyu. Katsuyu is Tsunade's personal summon, who is, apparently, absolutely massive. Tsunade and Sakura's combined efforts were only able to summon a tenth of Katsuyu's full body and she was able to aid in healing an entire army. Summoning Katsuyu, unlike other summons, is summoning portions of the same entity. The portion Tsunade usually summons is massive, although she has been seen to summon smaller Katsuyus for more espionage related ideas. Katsuyu is easily taller than four stories, as that is the height of the largest building in Konoha which Katsuyu rivaled in size. Katsuyu can divide herself into several smaller slugs that easily numerate into the thousands and she can reform herself into one entity with ease. These clones can channel Tsunade's medical chakra which means Tsunade is able to heal multiple targets simultaneously through Katsuyu. This healing is so potent that it can connect bisected people, although the healing factor is dependent on Tsunade's state of health. If she's weakened, the process will take a very long time. Katsuyu's lone offensive ability, aside from maybe some creative suffocation, is the ability to spit acid from her mouth. This acid can vaporize rock in seconds and isn't something to take lightly, as even Orochimaru and his cohorts took the sound of Katsuyu making some flesh melting liquids pretty seriously. Katsuyu's main talent is her ability to suck people into her for protective cushioning with her insane durability. She was able to save an entire village with her clones withstanding the Power of Gravity™ which pushed and leveled Konoha's buildings before sending the village several feet below sea level. The citizens, however, were safe inside her divisions. A palm sized version was able to survive a corrosive chakra cloak and the most extreme attack in the series. The small slug divisions are deceptively fast, as they're able to throw themselves in front of an attack before a giant rhino was able to cross a room. It's weirdest ability is the ability to deconstruct itself into nothing but an entire pool of liquid yet it is still able to function as if it's normal.

Items/Weapons:
Poison - This poison is odorless, tasteless and concealed in a small packet. It can also interfere with a person's spiritual energy and will leave them weak for hours after waking up. The poison takes place quickly, causing them to pass out. It should be noted that even other medics have a difficulty from healing the afflictions from that poison.

Tsunade ♠ Naruto ♠ beyonce style surprise! | 4/4

Sample Entry: this or this
Sample Entry Two:

With a blink of her eyes, the dream was over. Her beautiful world, where her lover was alive and Hokage, her teammates and brother were alive and friends returned to the fantasy it once was. A glare dusts over Tsunade as she bitterly looks over the room. It's unfamiliar to her completely. At first, Tsunade isn't sure what to focus on. The completely brand new location pricks her curiosity but first comes the shock that Madara succeeded in his Moon's Eye Plan, and that she was a victim of a genjutsu that created the most elaborate fantasy she ever received.

To invoke the memory of her dead lover, brother, and teammate against her stirs the deepest, darkest, angriest part of Tsunade. To taunt her with a dream she'll never accomplish, especially since she bears the burden of her village for those that couldn't actually gets to her despite all of her years of training herself to be a cold, calculating tool on the behalf of her country, digs into an emotional wound that still hasn't quite healed. Her eyes flash with a rage that's reserved for desecrating her village or personally insulting her legacy. Her voice roars with rage, "Madara! You get back here right now! Or so help me I will rip you limb from limb so savagely you'll wish you stayed dead and buried."

Nothing but the echos of her own voice respond, aside from a distant shout for her to stop yelling. She releases a gruff pant before looking around thinking that this could be a second part of the genjutsu. She quickly bites her lip to release her from the genjutsu, but to no avail. The battered cellphone starts to vibrate, and she looks at it with wonder. The sheer desolate location can't possibly be the battlefield, as they took caution not to fight in a city. So then just what is this place? If she wasn't in a genjutsu, what was she in?

She picks up the phone and somehow fumbles with it to accept the call. Her voice resonates with the loud, brash, cheerful tone she usually maintains. Her pain and anger are, for now, suppressed. She can't just spring this anger on someone who's not responsible. Although, if she gets Madara on the other end you better believe some intense vocal shouting will be going on.

"Hello. You have the Fifth Hokage, how may I help you?"

Previous Game History:
Miranda woke up naked in a medical ward of what she would learn was the Alpha Omega Station traveling through space, but at the time she was confused, terrified, and just wanted to know what was going on. Thankfully Lenalee was there to help explain things or else she really might have gone into a panic. They, the prisoners, had been brought there from many realities for experimentation and to be tested for some (unknown) reason by an artificial intelligence named Val. The station they were on had different areas where the “guests” were allowed to be, but also where Val could restrict them too if she wished, such as the F1 dorm-like buildings, or the F3 building which was more like a reality warping pocket dimension that could take them to any location in any universe that Val wanted.

Every week something new would happen and they would never know what the next experiment might be. There used to be an entire organization in control, but Miranda didn’t arrive until after a rebellion that had given the prisoners and Val control of the station. Even without organic captors, Val was more than strong enough to keep them trapped there, even having them fitted with collars that restricted anyone with special abilities, whether super speed, super strength, or Miranda’s own Innocence, Time Record. The technology was far more advanced than what she was used to, with much less magic and sorcery involved to keep it running. It was confusing and more than a little terrifying.

It wasn’t that long after arriving that she heard them speaking over the network about the fact that they were all actually clones of the people who existed in their own universes. It was a shock, but Miranda is used to dealing with uncomfortable truths through denial and she tried to put it out of her mind as much as she could. As long as she didn’t have to think about it, she didn’t have to consider what it meant. She had enough on her plate just learning about where they were, how to survive on the station, and everything else that came with being a “guest” of Val.

She was completely inept at using the futuristic technology around the station at first, including the Berry, which was a mobile telecommunication device that used audio, video, and text. She managed to figure it all out eventually but for a while she rarely used text just to avoid causing typos with the little keys. But Miranda was not alone because there were many other people (clones) from her world there, such as Allen, Lavi, Emilia, and Supervisor Komui. It helped her keep calm because she believed that if they could take all of this and carrying on, then she couldn’t do any less. There was also the promise of them getting off of the station by reaching a planet some distance away that they could try to inhabit, so it just meant she needed to be strong until then.

What she hadn’t expected was just how terrible the experiments could be. Yes, some of them were simple, even almost innocent, like the one that made people fall in love at first sight. Or the ones where they were transported to different locations inside the F3 sector. But there were others, like the bombs that were put in their chests and exploded if the person got too emotional. Miranda tried to save as many people as she could by staying calm and using Time Record to prevent the bombs from going off, but she tired herself out, not prepared for just how restricted her own abilities were. Within a few days she couldn’t hold it anymore and the bomb in her own chest exploded. It was the first time she would experience death and come back from it. She would learn that their bodies would be healed up as much as possible, but they would always have the scars from the event.

Another experiment forced her to confront a specter of herself from what she thought to be the future. She was desperate, angry, violent, and ready to kill everyone on the station to protect them from some horror she wouldn’t speak of but insisted was coming for them. Miranda did what she could to lock her into her room and keep her from harming anyone else, and thankfully at the end of the week she (and other specters like her) was gone, but she left Miranda pretty shaken. She did not like what she had seen in her, what it said about who she could become and wanted to do whatever she could to prevent it. She wanted to be a stronger person than that.

For months she did the best she could, making the best of the situation and getting through the different experiments unscathed for the most part. Some were terrible, others more odd and confusing, but she pushed through them. She’s always been good at getting back up after getting knocked down. She lost friends from home, like Emilia and Komui, who both died of clone sickness, but Emilia would eventually return in a renewed body. She lost other friends she had made there too, but most of them did not come back. Clone sickness ran rampant around the station, taking many lives. Not many who caught it survived.

And then there was the Nightmare on Elm Street. The “guests” on the station suffered from nightmares for the entire week and at times the effects of the dreams became reality for them when they awoke. Miranda had a nightmare about Allen turning into a Noah and stabbing out her left eye with a spiked candle, only to awaken and find her eye had been removed, leaving her bleeding everywhere. Emilia managed to help her get to the medical wing but the eye could not be recovered.

She learned to live with one eye, even though it took some time to get used to how imbalanced she felt. Some weeks later she even found one of the large mansions was now empty, save for the robots that managed it. She took the house for herself and her fellow Exorcists since it would be easier for them to stick together with so much room. Not that she had the chance to use it for long, since in a few short weeks they would be in F3 again and left on a near deserted planet with terrible monsters out to eat them all when darkness hit (night lasted for two weeks there). They needed special Torches Val provided to hold them back because the monsters hated light, but they only worked for so long until they needed more and more people to power them. It was a harrowing experience and the last thing she remembers is being killed by one of the monsters.

Miranda Lotto | D.Gray-man | CRAU | 3/4

[personal profile] allthetimekept 2014-07-16 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality:
Miranda has the lowest self-esteem of almost anyone ever. Because of constant failings at everything she does, she believes she's not good for anything and that she'll only make things worse or fail by trying (she was fired from one hundred jobs in her hometown). Even so, Miranda never gives up, because she believes that there must be at least one thing in the world that she can be good at, some person that she can prove herself to and have them be happy that she was there. If she can’t be good at anything, at least she can keep trying because otherwise she has nothing left for her.

After meeting Lenalee and Allen, she accepts being an Exorcist as her calling and goes to train at Headquarters because she wants to make a difference, and prove to herself that she is more than who she once thought she was. Miranda never wants to go back to being that woman who hid away in her home drinking away her sorrows and growing steadily more jaded and bitter at the world. She is an Exorcist, she has purpose, and she has friends. These are the things that drive her—her strengths and her weaknesses.

Miranda's Innocence, Time Record, takes a large toll on her body, and her emotions, because she uses it whenever she can to take away the injuries of those around her during a fight, especially her fellow Exorcists, but when she deactivates it, all of their injuries come back, on top of the ones they have newly received. She knows that she is essentially healing them so they can continue to fight and get hurt even more, which makes her wonder if her Innocence is a blessing or a curse at times. Miranda can't stand the thought of letting them be injured that way, not only because she cares about them, but also because she sees it as a failure on her part that her Innocence isn't powerful enough to take away their injuries permanently. To her, it makes her more useless and a less important part of the team. It's even worse if the person or people will die once she deactivates her Innocence, because she blames herself for their deaths, even though she didn’t cause their wounds.

Still, Miranda doesn’t believe there are many things that she is good at, so she will strive to do her best with what options are open to her. If she can protect her friends in whatever minor way she can, she will do so. If she has to put her life in danger to achieve a goal that will benefit them or some innocent person, she will. She’s a giver. Willing to keep giving and giving of herself even when she doesn’t believe that she has much worth giving.

She apologizes often for the slightest of mistakes and social missteps. She can be pessimistic and negative, but often turns these negative moods onto herself rather than on anyone else. Miranda is also a chronic worrier. It's like an anxiety disorder, because she gets herself really worked up worrying over every little thing she says or does and also about the people she cares about. But it doesn’t stop her from wanting to believe in the good in others, to the point she is more likely to trust a stranger she just met than to assume they are a danger to her, despite the fact she knows that in her world anyone could be an Akuma out to kill her.

In the time since she became an Exorcist, Miranda has come a long way from the self-loathing, bitter, lonely, miserable person she once was. She is more assertive, willing to stand up for herself and express her feelings, and doesn’t fall into dark moods as much as she used to, but she doesn’t see for herself just how far she’s come. The fact that she leaves her hands bare at times now when months ago her palms were constantly covered (and months before that she never would have gone without gloves covering them entirely), shows she’s less self-conscious and more comfortable in her own body. Any mention of something like this by someone else will send her into a full on stammering fluster. She’s still clumsy and erratic and goes off on strange tangents in her thoughts without meaning to, but she is changing. It’s a work in progress and Miranda isn’t afraid to put in the effort.

Being on Alpha Omega forced Miranda to step out of the shadow of her friends because she came to realize that they could not do for her there what she could do for herself. No matter how much she loved them and they loved her, the experiments Val forced them through could isolate them, or even pit them against each other. They couldn’t trust that Val would not make them harm each other without their consent. Miranda has never known how to give up, even when she wanted to the most, so that worked in her favor. She would keep going because she wouldn’t be weak or expect her friends to carry her weight.

The experiences didn’t break her, but it did toughen Miranda up more. She became somewhat jaded to it, not unlike how she felt after being trapped on the same day for over a month in her hometown. But unlike then, she knew she had other people that she could turn to and who she wanted to depend on her in turn, so she stepped up, became more proactive and less of her shy, unsure self. Not that she stopped being insecure entirely, or feeling as if even tiny things were her fault, but she also knew that her guilt wouldn’t help anyone, so she kept it more to herself. Everyone had enough to deal with without her falling apart on them. Even losing her eye only made her more determined. It hurt, and the nightmare that caused it lingered, but she didn’t want to be afraid of Allen, or let the injury handicap her. She looked to Lavi for help on how to retrain herself on seeing through only one eye. She learned, she moved on, and she did not let it turn her into the shell of a woman from some undetermined future. No matter what, she would never let herself become that person.

Abilities/Powers:
For the most part Miranda is a normal human with no discernible skills or abilities. What makes her different from the average person is that she is an Accommodator for Innocence, a special tool or weapon in her world that few people are capable of using.

Time Record -- This is Miranda's Innocence which looks like a huge disc with glowing lines that can be strapped to her arm or held suspended in the air between her hands, and it has the power to stop time, rewind it, and to "turn back the clock" on people and objects. She can take away a person's injures and keep them locked inside of Time Record, or return an object to its prime condition, but all of these effects end once Time Record is deactivated (this technique is called “Time Recovery”). If someone’s “time” is kept inside of Time Record, Miranda is constantly aware of them—if they are injured again, she knows, if they die, she knows. She is also capable of creating barriers/shields in which time is effectively negated for anyone or anything within her area of effect and prevents anything from entering or existing the shield unless Miranda’s will allows it, while still being aware of what goes on outside of the barrier (this is called “Time Out”). Miranda's Innocence is an Equipment Type, but also a support/defense type, since she cannot use it offensively. Because Miranda’s power is not permanent, she cannot stop death. Any fatal injuries that a person suffers while under her Innocence’s power will return to them once she turns it off. She has only used these two techniques simultaneously once (at a huge drain to herself) and has yet to figure out how to do so again.

Stamina -- Time Record eats up her energy, but Miranda can go days without rest, and still have it activated. She’s shown using pure strength of will to keep her barriers strong against Akuma, Noah, and even the Earl himself. She will keep it activated well beyond the limits of her own energy if necessary and has gone 10 days before without sleeping.

Items/Weapons: (1) Time Record, (2) her Exorcist uniform, (3) Satchel she carries Time Record in.

Sample Entry:
[After everything that has happened, Miranda shouldn’t have been so surprised to wake up in a strange place, but she had been about to die. Then she wasn’t, with no new wounds to speak of. And when she looks for her Berry, she finds it replaced by this other smaller device that doesn’t even have numbers or letters! What is going on? She brings up the video—she’ll always prefer it, even when perhaps it’s not warranted—and manages not to panic on screen like she somewhat wants to. She hasn’t seen anyone she knows and such a change is never good when it comes to Val.]

Ah…well. I am a bit confused. We’ve never been moved from one location to another like this without visiting the station in between. And I don’t believe this is the Haven I’ve been told about. [The only time she had heard of a Haven they had been sent to, it was a desert planet with terrible ravagers, which this most certainly is not. She takes a breath and tries to smile, but it’s a bit strained.] Though I…well I guess it truly doesn’t matter, if this is where she’s decided we’ll be for the duration. Is everyone else all right?

Sample Entry Two: (Set as if she’s been in the town for some time)
If there is one thing Miranda knew she would not miss about the station it was the dwindling food supplies. The robots in charge of the cafeteria were becoming more and more insistent about the edibility of the soylent green, but she had been avoiding it as much as possible. And then she finds herself in a place that could conceivably be worse in regards to food rations. It’s baffling that something could actually have less food available for the number of people there. Yet there was nothing she could do but scavenger and scrounge for meals in a way that she had not had to in a very long time.

More than once she has wanted to cry. To sit in her room and hide there until this test ended and she found herself back on the station again. But what good would acting that way be for her? Be for anyone? Everyone was surviving here, doing their best to make do with what they were given. For her to crumble so easily under the pressure of this place would be like giving up. And she would not do that. Even if her clothes never came fully clean, her hair a mess without a proper tie, the food barely sustainable, terrible things keep happening to them, and she is sure people were staring at her whenever she goes to visit the well.

Although, at least they did have drinkable water—questionable though it may be—and showers that they can use. And normally getting water wasn’t much trouble at all. Until today. She put the bucket down and turned the crank as she had done before, hoping for a nice amount of water to fill her container for drinking water. Everything had been proceeding well. And then the rope snagged.

It should have been a warning. She should have known that perhaps her luck was just not that good that day and maybe she should stop. But it had not seemed like something terrible. All she had to do was climb onto the lip of the well and reach out to unblock the rope from where it had gotten caught. She even thought to steady herself with her left hand as she reached out with her right—

--only to have misjudged the distance and not have anything for her left hand to grab onto. Falling down a well only to hit a not-so-gentle barrier that propels one back out is a less than pleasant experience she will never want to relieve. Landing on her face on the ground outside of the well even less so. She pushes herself to her feet quickly, unsteady for a moment as her equilibrium adjusted. The eerie sense of being watched is still there and Miranda glances about, trying to see who might have spotted her embarrassing fall, but there is no one. It leaves her chuckles weakly to herself, hoping she’s walking away with more confidence than she actually feels. Please, let no one have witnessed that…

It’s only when she’s back in her room that she remembers she never collected the water and left her container at the well. Some days she wonders how she hasn’t managed to die from her own incompetence.

Aomine Daiki | Kuroko no Basket | Not Reserved | 2/3

[personal profile] streetballer 2014-07-17 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: Daiki Aomine is the ace of the Generation of Miracles— he was the first member of this amazing group of Teikou students to really bloom and come into his own. As a result, his skill level also increases incredibly fast, until he comes to the point where he believes that no one could possibly defeat him. This results in an incredible amount of arrogance in his personality, mostly involving basketball. But then again, basketball is pretty much his entire life, so there isn't much for him to be full of himself about otherwise. This belief is only enforced through his entire Teikou career— after all, they were the undefeated champions through junior high. But it wasn't just that they were undefeated that affected Aomine so much. Aomine actually starts off as optimistic and idealistic as anyone else— he was one of the people who convinced Kuroko not to quit basketball when he only made third string by saying that Kuroko's love of basketball was motivational to him, even if Kuroko wasn't actually that good of a player. However, he started improving rapidly, and his idealistic attitude begins to transform. This is enforced especially by two events. The first is when one of his first year rivals, tells him that they wouldn't even try to win against him (even when Aomine tries his best against him), which forces him to realize that at this point, he's unbeatable. The second, even bigger event, comes when the new coach, under pressure from Teikou's board to keep Aomine playing in games no matter what, tells him that he can skip practice if that means he'll stay on the team. Aomine had already been struggling with practice because he didn't feel any challenge from it, but being told that he didn't have to go anymore basically crushed him. It crushed him so much that he tells Kuroko, when he comes to tell him to return to practice, that he envies Kuroko's badness at basketball, because it means he doesn't have to know the pain of always being successful. He really was that self-centered as an individual, but this self-centered quality is really what gets turned around in the rest of the series (even though we see this low point after most of his development).

This only continues into his first year as a starter at Touou Academy. He first manages to beat Seirin, the home of his old "shadow", Tetsuya Kuroko (who was also once his best friend and the person he was "most compatible with in basketball") who he believes can't realize his full potential while working with Kagami, Seirin's ace, since his "light is too dim". And Touou does defeat Seirin, seemingly proving that point. They then go on to defeat Kaijou as well, against another former teammate who Aomine helped to realize the potential of, Ryota Kise, one of the few people that Aomine felt might have been a challenge. But at that point, he still felt that Kise wasn't much of a match for him in the end, and Kaijou went defeated. And Aomine didn't even play in their final match, and thus, Touou lost to Rakuzan in the final round. This makes him incredibly jaded, especially during the inter-high, because even when there seems like there may be the barest of hints that he might be able to find an opponent who can oppose him (such as his response to Kagami toward the beginning of their Interhigh match, which is that he "might not be so bad", which is enough to give him some heart for the duration of that match, although his inability to be defeated was eventually proven again.)

However, that wasn't enough to sway his confidence. It's only in the Winter Cup that Touou isn't so lucky, and Seirin is finally able to defeat Touou, taking Aomine out of the running and helping him to realize that there is someone out there who can defeat him. That ennui that he felt before, during his first match against Seirin and his match against Kaijou, dissipated, after thinking for so long that he wouldn't be able to find a willing opponent, again. He ends up helping Kuroko learning to shoot, and coming more to Kise, and Seirin's aid, and seems to be a little bit more mature in the current timeline (although not by much).

Aomine is, in simple terms, just kind of a tool. He's incredibly self-confident-- his catch phrase, the phrase he's most associated with in series is "the only one who could defeat me is me." This comes from his string of wins as mentioned in his history, but it's a kind of confidence that extends everywhere. He's generally lazy-- he skips practice all the time, especially once he enters high school and figures that he doesn't really have to work very hard in order to score lots of points and win games, and isn't that all that matters to him? He revels in humiliating his opponents, to a certain extent (it's just all over his irregular playstyle, and the way that he can make people think that they're going to make a shot and then completely block it). And he has a short temper, too, threatening violence to people on multiple occasions, and actually punching someone in the face at some point (even though it was really for the right reason).

But even with all of this dangerous cockiness, there is still some of that idealism that he had in his first year at Teikou, before he felt like there wasn't any challenge in any of it. He still, somewhere, wants to find that equal match-- that's what he yearns for, even as he sneered up until he was defeated in the Winter Cup, even if he'd mostly given up. And even when he was at his cockiest, he still showed some consideration toward Momoi and Kuroko, in his own gruff way (or in some cases violent, as was shown when one of his team mates questioned Kuroko's ability after a match and he shoved him into a locker). His softness shows toward some other people, too-- especially later, like when he gives Kagami a pair of shoes after Kagami doesn't even win the one-on-one he'd said he'd play them. He's also very physical-- he uses it almost as a form of intimidation, whether what he wants is an octopus sausage from his teammate or just to intimidate the crap out of an opponent. He's very aware of his presence on the court, and he's very aware of his abilities, and it's that insane confidence that probably allows him to have so many wins, even as it makes him more than a little unpopular.

[personal profile] streetballer 2014-07-17 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
Abilities/Powers: Aomine is essentially a normal person, although he has higher physical abilities than normal. The character bible gives him 10s in physical ability, technique, and special ability (which is a perfect score). He also has 8s in stamina and mental strength! Mostly what we can get out of this is that he doesn't really think about what he does— and he can't keep it up perfectly, but he is pretty damn good at everything anyways. He isn't the final boss of the series, or anything, but he's a terrifying, nearly insurmountable obstacle for multiple characters in the series. He's mostly known as a speed demon, and also as being really good at more improvisational basketball. He can also enter The Zone, which is the state of heightened awareness and skill, where basically they can focus 100% on the game and not on anything else going on. Everyone has a trigger for this, and for Aomine his trigger is when he finds a worthy opponent.

Items/Weapons: A gravure magazine (which is basically like a Sports Illustrated swimsuit special, lots of pictures of women who are mostly undressed but not naked), an (empty) bento box, and an old Pocari Sweat bottle (but at least it has a screw top).

Sample Entry: Haven test drive thread

Sample Entry Two: Daiki woke up disoriented. He hadn't remembered falling asleep after watching the quarter finals— after watching Kaijou lose to Seirin. That match hadn't even been boring, although what he'd really been interested in was the final match with Rakuzan. But now— well, this definitely wasn't his bed in his parents' house. For one thing, his room at home didn't have six beds in it. And for another, his mattress at home wasn't this hard.

But it took him waking up a little more to fully register what was wrong with this situation. The sharp pain in his back turned out to be a cellphone— but it wasn't his cell, which made it all the more strange. He was about to go digging around under the bed to figure out if this phone was a prank or a dud (his real phone just had to be hidden, he'd never be stupid enough to lose it), when he saw the window out of a corner of his eye—

He'd think this was a dream, except that stupid phone being a pain in his back would have woken him up from it for sure. And although that sign (that weird, creepy sign, and Daiki didn't just find anything creepy) said that he was safe, he knew it wasn't true. It was way too quiet for that.

[personal profile] enjoins 2014-07-17 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: Demon Lord definitely wouldn't be the first thing to come to someone's mind when they take a gander at this kid. Raenef is a far cry from his predecessors in more ways than one. For starters he doesn't have a mean bone in his body, which kind of puts him in a jam when he has to meet up with other much more intimidating lords. This usually ends terribly because he will try to be tough stuff as he takes advice to heart, no matter how outrageous it might sound to a normal person. The highlight of this came when, during a meeting, he put on a comical expression and asked another demon lord; How dare you admonish me, vermin? When the older man talked down to the newly named Demon Lord. Needless to say, he was laughing stock of the Demon Lord world for quite awhile after that day, much to the horror of Eclipse. His inability to be terrifying and ruthless is actually a running gag in the series. Along with his inability to understand girls who have crushes on him and threaten to beat him up if he marries anyone else.

His overly naïve nature lands him in some pretty tight situations, especially when it comes to trying to deduce friend from foe. He believes he can befriend anyone and tries to do so many times. A knight came to kill him one day and he was nothing but cordial to her. In fact, he even went as far as to help her find the big, scary demon lord she was looking for until it turned out to be him. Whoops. Thankfully, his rather hard head (literally) broke her sword and he was stupid enough to believe she would be his henchman when they reached an impasse. Chances are, if someone told him there was gold at the end of the rainbow and they desired it, he would try to find it for them. He isn't the brightest crayon in the box but the kid has a heart of gold. The sight of carnage and death makes him uneasy to begin with and left him dealing with comical nightmares. In one such dream, the victim is replaced by an animated tomato that ends up getting violently squished. When roused from the nightmares, Eclipse is forced to comfort a very teary-eyed demon lord. If the dreams weren't bad enough, his mentor also had to deal with the fact that Raenef was an awful pupil who favored naps and snacks over tutoring and reading from his handbook. With as many times as Eclipse has had to strike him for getting distracted, it's fortunate that he has a thick skull. He's more likely to do something if there is something promised to motivate his nonexistent drive.

It is difficult to tell that this happy-go-lucky boy came from a tragic and dark past. He was orphaned at a young age and as such, took to joining a thieving guild in order to ensure his survival and feel wanted. It is at this guild that he eventually runs into his future mentor Eclipse, who saved him after all hell broke lose for him and his pseudo family. When the thieves are caught in the act by castle guards, Raenef refuses to run away and abandon them when he is unintentionally spared. His courage impresses Eclipse, who ends up saving Raenef in the end. He has to, because after Raenef's powers manifest and pretty much explode the guard who was attacking him, he ends up fainting. Truth be told, the only reason he left with Eclipse was because the demon said he would have a home -- a bed to sleep in and all the food he could eat. Something he wanted more than anything. Any talk about demon lords and magic went in one ear and out the other, he has a painfully one track mind but eventually fit into his role rather nicely.

The most shocking moment for him came when he was forced to fight against the former lord, Raenef IV, and he learned how truly powerless he was. He also found out that he had lost a part of himself when he wound up in the city of Pulhel. It was the part of himself that knew he was meant to be the next demon lord after his father met his end. His father was, in fact, Demon Lord Raenef IV, who was Eclipse's former master. Eventually, after an intense internal struggle, these two personalities combine into one. Raenef retains his kind personality but now has a better grasp on what is right and wrong. Having merged with his missing half that is both cruel and cunning, he is now complete and worthy of his newly acquired title. While this change has given him a better grasp on his magic, it also allows him to understand the obligations he must fulfill as the Demon Lord. He will have to be firm and may even have to make difficult decisions, but the kindness within him will ensure he is fair. Unlike many others of his race, he holds no ill will toward humans. In fact, he has a penchant for befriending them and bringing them home -- as if they were strays.

He had been blissfully unaware of the fact that his clueless nature had been the bane of his mentor's existence, but it has been remedied since then. He sacrifices his memories at one point in order to gather the strength to merge himself with his darker personality. Now, at the end of the story, Raenef has matured into a Demon Lord Eclipse can be proud to call Master but he is still the boy the demon grew fond of. Raenef essentially took the best aspects of both personalities and melded them together, as he was unwilling to be anything but himself. The last glimpse of Raenef is when he returns to the Demon Conference he had originally made a fool of himself at. The other lords are taken aback with how much he has changed but when they aren't looking, Raenef and Eclipse turn to each other and laugh, showing that he is still a fun-loving guy.

He can be very over-protective of his friends. Eclipse, Chris and Erutis have become something like a family for him now, so heaven forbid anything ever happens to them. His friends mean the world to him and he would do anything and everything for them. They're all capable of handling themselves in a fight and what not, but that doesn't stop him for worrying. He flipped out when Eclipse fought with Raenef IV and was almost unable to concentrate on his spells to help him out. Hands down, Eclipse is without a doubt his closest comrade and at it is obvious that Raenef loves him above all else. Throughout their trials he has become everything to Raenef, he would be a loss without the man in his life. So he might be one of the most powerful people in the world but without his friends to guide him? He wouldn't get very far.

Abilities/Powers: A demon lord has the potential to be either extremely powerful or a disgrace. In Raenef's case, he was kind of an embarrassment until a combination of his natural abilities and some urging from Eclipse opened his eyes a little. To use his magic, he utilities something called mezraez which is power a demon collects and expels every time he uses an ability. Mezraez is basically just a measurement of magical energy. Think of it like MP in a video game -- he can gather mezraez throughout the day and can eventually run out of it if he uses his magic too much. Some spells require a lot more than others. For example, the Dark Arrow requires approximately eight (8) mezraez and Eclipse states the impact level is 50, which makes it a quick, easy and powerful attack. He is also able to teleport which, thankfully, doesn't seem to deplete his mezraez much. He just has to picture where he wants to go and he will be there. Another aspect to note; he has a tendency to rack up an excessive amount of mezraez without a lot of effort.

His dark magic requires no wand or incantations but it does require him to concentrate. If he doesn't, there could be devastating consequences for him or anyone around him. Magical abilities aside, he is pretty useless. He knows basic hand-to-hand combat and due to his life on the streets, he can and will fight dirty if it comes down to it. When he was fighting with a castle guard who seemed to be getting the upper hand, Raenef bites his hand so the guy will let go of his hair. The same guard goes to cut him down with his sword and ends up dying himself because Raenef's powers activate and destroy him. On another occasion, Erutis aims to kill him and when she brings her sword down on his head, it shatters in half leaving them both confused. Now that he has a better hold on his power, he can control when these things happen versus relying on dumb luck to save him.

Overall, if he didn't have his magic he probably wouldn't have any note worthy abilities. Unless being painfully oblivious counts.
Items/Weapons:
➸ The clothing on his back.
➸ A book, which appears to have lost a battle with time, depicting various tidbits about the demons of his world. Every Demon Lord needs a handbook.
➸ Something that looks like a leather-bound notebook. It contains all of the notes he has written down during his many tutoring sessions with Eclipse.
Sample Entry: Here. But since it's from 2011;
[ He doesn't remember leaving his castle, so he's falsely concluded that this might be another part of the fortress he hasn't seen. It's better than the alternative -- being summoned by someone who wanted to kill him. .. Again. Either way, it was better to figure out sooner than later! After releasing a breath he wasn't aware he was holding, he begins to speak to no one in particular. ]

Hey, Mister Kidnapper! .. Or Miss? I guess it could be either, or even both? Anyway! I know I shouldn't tell anyone how to do their own jobs, but I'm pretty sure you forgot to lock my door, sooo.. I don't think you need me here all that much.

Am I right in assuming that? [ He pauses, but even he isn't quite sure why. Nobody was there, he would have heard footsteps by now. He isn't by any means a quiet person. So, not a kidnapper. Next! ] It's just.. I have a lot of things to do and I can't do them here. Wherever here is. I don't even remember. .. Oh! And I have your.. Well. I don't really know what it is, but I know it's not mine.

[ For anyone who has the misfortune of being in earshot or tinkering with their phones, a teenage boy's (it might be difficult to tell) face fills the screen-- and he's smiling! Kind of. There's a longer pause, follow by a long-suffering sigh. ]

I'm talking to myself, aren't I? I'm gonna get an earful later if I got summoned again.

[ While lowering his hand, his fingers hit something on the device. Beep. .. Beep. Beep. What in the world? Okay, the world didn't blow up so he's a little emboldened. He turns it every which way and proceeds to grin like a fool again. ]

Beep? Hey, neat! You're kinda weird looking, huh? I wonder what happens if I hit this..

Sample Entry Two: It's half past twelve in the humble abode of a Demon Lord, so what does the evil boy doing in his spare time? If it were up to Eclipse, he would be scouring the countryside terrorizing the natives, boasting his title and ending the lives of his enemies with little to no remorse. It was the quickest way to become recognized and feared in their world because actions spoke much louder than words. Unfortunately the plans for the day, which revolved around studies and training, were put on hold when Raenef's favorite friends showed up with snacks and news.

So, with full bellies, the trio took to running around outside with Eclipse looking on with growing exasperation, partaking in a makeshift game of tag. They were having fun and, in a sort of technical sense, he was training. Training for that moment when someone did something crazy and he needed to run like the wind to get away from the fight. Clearly he is an ideal candidate for a Demon Lord who is meant to terminate terribly and strike fear into the hearts of men.

So, one could only imagine his surprise when Eclipse morphed into his peripheral vision and proceeded to glower. He knew that look, he was starting to judge how Eclipse's day was going based on how many times he scolded him. If he didn't scold him more than twelve times a day, then something was clearly on his mind and he needed to poke him about it. Luckily, this was reprimand number thirteen. Unlucky thirteen. Freezing in place, he craned his neck a bit to glance over his shoulder with a smile.

Eclipse didn't need to say a word, he knew what this was about.

"This is survival training! I can run really fast n- Ow!" He was forced to cut himself off as his excuse was met with a prompt thwack via a handful of rolled up papers. Tenderly nursing his forehead, he blinked an eye open to shoot the man a rather pathetic look. Pathetic or not, Eclipse didn't seem like he was going to budge, which meant that he had undoubtedly forgotten something important. But he was holding something in his hand, some kind of book..

Oh, crap.

Handbook. He had studied extra hard the day before, so having a bit of free time today didn't seem like a bad idea. He carefully straightened himself up, lowered his hands and put on the sternest face he could muster. He was a Demon Lord and Eclipse was his mentor, clearly a line had to be drawn somewhere! Chris and Erutis were already waving their hands, clearly they were cheering him on in his attempt to be tough.

"How dare you admonish me, vermin?"

No, they weren't cheering him on. They were warning him about the next oncoming hit that he didn't quite notice. And wouldn't you know it, he retired to his room without further ado after that little incident, albeit nursing his forehead again, and spent the rest of the afternoon reading from the handbook.

Personality:

Remember all those hours you spent watching Bugs Bunny cartoons as a kid? Maybe some Animaniacs, Fintstones, Betty Boop, Popeye-- I swear to God, if you have not seen a single episode of Looney Tunes in your incredibly short and miserable life, I will ruin you. Unless, I guess... you don’t have a TV or internet (why are you here) or something. That’s the only reason that’ll keep me from toonitically wrecking your shit.

Unfortunately for you, though, not having access to a TV won’t stop Peacock from toonitically wrecking your shit. Whatever the fuck that actually means. See, she’s someone who knows her toons and fucking adores them. She’s also someone with body augmentations that can alter reality, which is obvious if you just look at the girl. Where her eyes are missing, Steamboat Willie-esque black holes remain. Where long metallic digits have replaced her hands, she covers them in massive white gloves. Her teeth are a motherfuckin’ bear trap. Here, let me repeat that shit so we get it loud and clear: Her teeth are a bear trap. She smokes cigars, uses incredibly oversized guns, throws coconut pies, shoves her opponents into a oversized bag and kicks the crap outta ‘em, throws comically oversized bombs, has a small peacock in her hat named Avery (Tex Avery hint hint hint)— You get the picture. While becoming a Skull Girl killing machine wasn't her choice, how she presents herself and how she fights is. She actively chooses to model herself off the cartoons she adores and manipulates her parasites into letting her live out her dreams. This is super important to note, because regardless of what other parts of her personality I explain next, she’s still a little girl who loves her toons.

Of course, I move from cute little girl straight into how fucking violent she is. If you read her history, she’s had one shitty life. Her and her friends were captured by slavers after living at an orphanage, and she was tortured when she stood up to them (which allowed her friend Marie to escape and eventually become the Skull Girl). She has seen some shit, son. Eventually, Dr. Avian found her mutilated body and basically thought it was a really good idea to turn her into one of the most powerful weapons in existence.

Science, ladies and gentlemen.

She's no stranger to violence, which, when coupled with her rash attitude and lack of maturity, it means she's a determined killing machine who sucks at acknowledging her own weakness. After watching Dr. Avian die, she immediately went to pursue and murder the shit out of the culprits (Valentine and Double). At the end of her storyline, after defeating the Skull Girl, she takes on Marie's quest to kill off the Medici mafia and promptly does so, since Marie became the Skull Girl entirely to avenge Peacock. The Skull Heart offers her unlimited power for that murder spree if she accepts its Madoka-like contract, and Peacock just says fuck that she's already the strongest. She can kill all the mafia in the world without the help of some magical Skull Girl bullshit.

Peacock is completely willing and able to take out anyone stopping her from achieving her goals— I mean, come on, it’s a fighting game, of course she’s like that. She’s the type to fight rather than talk and sees nothing wrong with busting a few heads. Unfortunately, this also means that she has no comprehension of her limitations. In Big Band's storymode, she attempted a lot of the same from her own storyline and was significantly less successful. In fact, half of Big Band's storyline is chasing down Peacock and keeping her from getting herself killed due to her rash determination. However, even after Marie kicks her ass, she still musters the energy to fight the Skull Girl as a tag-team with Big Band.

Peacock is also incredibly abrasive. She speaks like she’s straight out of the cartoons, which means plenty of insults and slang. Peacock refers to Dr. Avian as “gramps” and “Doc,” Valentine as “nurse,” Big Band as a wide variety of ridiculous names ("Big Ben," "Back-up Band," "the blowhard," "Brassafrass," etc etc etc), threatens anyone who gets in her way, and generally has a superior attitude to most people she speaks with, even if she cares about them. The Lab 8 crew are like a family (momma Illeum and daddy Big Band + many kids), and Peacock's the sibling who acts like she's the bossy oldest but really isn't. Since she's basically the prized experiment of Lab 8 (and she knows it), she's not afraid to lord over everyone else.

Despite this, she’s inherently a good person. She worries about her friends; she runs back to the labs when she hears about the Skull Girl's attack and is clearly upset when she sees Dr. Avian die. As mentioned before, she rushes off for revenge right after and is distraught to see that her old friend, Marie, is the Skull Girl. Before their final battle against each other, Peacock has a few moments of emotional maturity when she realizes that even if Marie is killing the mafia to get revenge for what they did to Peacock, Peacock knows that Marie can’t remain in control of the Skull Heart and will eventually become worse than the mafia. While she hopes she and Marie will have a little time together after Peacock destroys the Skull Heart, she puts stopping Marie from destroying/killing/whatevering everyone first. After she wins, and Marie is fading, she tells the former Skull Girl two things— 1) they’ll always be friends, and 2) that she’ll finish Marie’s job and take down the mafia for her. This is less out of revenge and more of helping her friend, so all that Marie’s suffered won’t be in vain. While she doesn't embark on her mafia murder quest at the end of Big Band's storyline, she still has her moment of emotionally maturity with Marie.

Basically, she's a kid. She's an incredibly psychotic kid who's used to getting her way, but she's a kid nonetheless.

Abilities/Powers: Alright, she’s overpowered. Just going to put this out here where we can all see it and accept it. She’s mostly metal, ridiculously overpowered, and she knows it, which is why she doesn’t accept the Skull Heart at the end of the game. Girl don’t need that shit, because she's basically a big ol' glass cannon. Let me explain her powers and stuff, after which, I’ll address limitations due to Haven's setting. Her powers can be broken down into two separate synthetic parasites:

1) The Argus System: This system primarily concerns itself with changes to herself only. So, her arms and eyes, basically. Her six eyes that are on her arms and others that appear from time to time. She can pretty much see everything, and it’s incredibly creepy. They also fire some pretty intensely badass lasers. While the lasers are supposed to fire at a precise frequency to fuck up Skull Girls, they still do a fuckton of damage to anyone and everything they hit.

2) The Avery Unit: It manifests itself through the miniature and sentient Peacock peacock that chills out in her hat and assists in her attacks. It’s a link between herself and Lab 8 and the weapons that the Lab has stocked up. Basically, it means she has infinite hammer space using her hat, eye sockets, and Lab 8's stockpile. Not just that, though-- As Dr. Avian explained, she’s manipulating the fuck out of the Avery unit’s capabilities which was completely unexpected. It's why regardless of a character's medium, in Haven Peacock's going to appear incredibly cartoonish. It's also why her weapons are cartoon caricatures of people she knows. They're sentient and her friends, even though they call her “boss.” They are, as follows:

*Avery:
Already explained this shit.

*George the Bomb:
He’s a bomb that either walks into enemies, airplanes into enemies, or go-carts into enemies before exploding.

*Lonesome Lenny
He’s an incredibly massiveass bomb with a fuse that takes a while to burn.

*Andy Anvil
An Anvil that drops from the sky into her opponents. Also one of the more vocal members of her little group. He likes wrestling, man.

*Tommy 10-Tons
A giant 10-Ton block weight with a face. Basically dropping really heavy things on people is fun, okay. Don’t judge.

So, let’s move on to...

3) Limitations:

The Avery unit, in order to operate correctly, needs both Avery and a link to the underground weapons facility at Lab 8. I think it’ll be alright if she keeps Avery with her, but because he no longer has access to Lab 8, her other friends won’t be coming along for the ride. If she picks up other weapons in Haven, they'll manifest into versions of her lil gang, but they won't take the same form. This also means that she can’t summon every weapon under the sun whenever she wants. However, at some point while playing her, I’d like her to be able to link her Avery unit with some other location of stored goods (aka a hoard of random shit or something). She'll still have access to the hammer space of her hat and eye sockets (wow what a weird sentence), and she'll still be able to summon all of her Argus eyes, but she won't be able to short-distance teleport until Avery's linked up with somewhere other than Lab 8's stores.

Both of her parasites are necessary to keep her alive. If someone somehow killed either one, Peacock would die soon after.

Items/Weapons: Avery, Argus, and a large cartoonish knife.
