Applications

APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN!
The next processing date is Friday 11th October

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every two weeks, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. If you wish to request a specific apartment, please do so in the relevant part of the application. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Every attempt will be made to place a character in their chosen apartments, though this may not always be possible depending on the slots available.

Applications are open constantly, but are only processed every other Friday at 7PM EST. The Saturday following acceptance, an IC mingle log will be posted for characters to be introduced to the game.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old.

To see what we are looking for:
Canon Characters:

Sample Application (Iroh)

Original Characters:

i'm not sure if you guys still add tags individually or leave it up to the mun to create them, but 'character: tenshi hinawari' is a misspelling, just in case.

eeee thank you!

just a quick note, though - "izumi" is actually miyamura's first name, if you wante to keep it in western order. i prefer to refer to him as miyamura just for personal preference (and bc he's usually called by his last name in the manga). but just in case you wanted to keep the names organized in western order, it would be Izumi Miyamura instead.

sorry about that!! :x

[Alex crashed down into the alley, the concrete buckling beneath his feet. Rising, he strode toward the seemingly insignificant building; the last Gentek scientist knew she was here, hiding from him. Blackwatch had hidden Karen away, just in case he’d somehow survive the parasite they’d injected into him, or he’d decided to pay her back before he succumbed to it.]

[He approaches the door now, shifting, taking on his last victim’s form: a Blackwatch soldier, a cruel man who’d simply been unlucky enough to be wearing the right uniform when Alex had needed it. He pushes the door open, heads straight for her; her death plays out in his head over and over again. Should it be quick, merciful, exactly the opposite of the misery she’d sprung on him, or should he force her to pay for every bullet, every claw that’d torn through him, every terrifying moment when he’d thought he was going to die? Or maybe he’d just force her to endure every ounce of anguish he’d felt when she’d betrayed him before finally ending her wretched existence.
There are guards inside; he snatches one’s assault rifle, pulls rank when the man complains, and continues inside. He opens the door to her hideaway, walks in with the purpose of a man caught in an emergency, and orders her in the dead man’s voice:]

We’ve been compromised. Mercer knows you’re on the payroll. We’re evacuating.

[She gets up from her desk, allowing him to lead her as she voices her panic. He guides her to the elevator; every word out of her mouth brings a grim smile to his face behind the mask and adds just that much more heat to his anger. Of course he’d kill her; why would he do anything less when her selfishness had nearly gotten him killed and had compromised his ability to keep Dana safe?
The power goes out; Karen’s panic reaches its peak. No one to save her now...]

“Oh, my God. Oh, my God, he’s here. He’s in the building!”

[Alex shifts out of his disguise now and leans in. He can see her hope die when she hears his voice.]

I know.

Emma's trust is a rare thing to come by for some people. She automatically tries to keep people out, even Mary Margaret initially. She attempts to build up a barrier to them, in order to keep herself from getting hurt. Mary Margaret calls her out on this, especially when it came to Graham, whom Emma seemed interested in. When Emma says that it's okay to be cautious, Mary Margaret agrees to an extent, but counters that it will also keep out love.

However, it's not always a bad thing. In some cases, it's actually good thing. There are some people in Storybrooke that people don't want to put their trust in--such as Regina and Mr. Gold. And even though Regina seems to have changed in the second season, Emma's still a little unsure to trust her. After all, she was the reason for the whole curse. Her encounter with Hook also shows this. Although he does attempt to get her on her good side, she's not so easily fooled. Despite his saying that he was going to help them, she treated this with a grain of salt. Ultimately, Emma made a deal with a giant to keep him until she could get a head start.

Hello mod-tans! I hate to bug you seeing as I just got in but if you could change his tag? It's Leon Kuwata, sob, and I know I'll get really confused trying to spell his last name two different ways.

The two sides of Cheriour do seem to be radically different from one another- the cheerful, ever-polite side and the seeker of justice - but in the end, they're more like layers of his personality. On the outside, he's polite and curious and nice to people he meets, and this isn't really a facade, because that is really how he feels towards most people...but it's also there because he can't bear showing anything else other than that cheerful harmless self to others. Why should he show the seriousness and extremely stern view he has on justice to just anyone? After all, people have labeled him a monster just by seeing his victims alone, why should he risk being anything but a good and kind angel in their eyes?

So, really, his cheerful self serves more like a mask than an actual side, for when it gets down to it, he’s buried everything else far below it, only showing the flaws in his personality when people he actually trusts are around or when he’s doing his duty. Occasionally, he’ll show this darker side when engaged in a conversation about things he deeply cares about, like justice and saving lives, but most of the time he bites his tongue and leans back into more lighthearted conversation, trying his best to talk more about the other person than himself. He’s crafted his layers well, and most people will only see the first one, not knowing the sorrow, guilt, seriousness, and other such darker facets that lie far underneath it.

He actually doesn't quip and smile when he chases his victims- he smiles, yes, but as seen in this thread (where he's talking to a vampire named Diva, who basically go out and tells him she's killed many people and plans to kill more), his smile is nothing but a kind of front, the way a crocodile or shark smiles when it spots its prey. He doesn't have fun while killing people. He takes it very seriously, and this seriousness results from "it has to be done so that others can be safe" sort of inner mantra. And this mantra, this duty of his given to him by God, is what overrules his guilt, in the end. When he looks at a person who he is going to kill, it's more of a "this is a necessary job and I am doing what I was supposed to do, regardless of my emotional feelings on it" rather than an "OH GOD I HAVE TO KILL SOMEONE oh nooooo" monologue going on in his head. He has to put his feelings aside to do his job, because it has to be done, no questions about it. And if the emotions get hold of him again, he just focuses on the clocks and lets them calm him down so he can perform his job without obstacle.

He never complains or petition to God, because in his mind, God is never wrong. Never. It's a very deep and incredibly blind faith that Cheriour has, one that he never wavers from over the course of his life. If God were to tell him to kill a fellow angel because of the possibility that they might be tempted by evil, Cheriour'll go ahead and do it, even if there was no actual physical evidence of it. If God told him to go tear out his own heart and give it up for the power of the Lord, Cheriour would be putting a sword to his chest as soon as the order was finished. The whole point is, Cheriour sees his failure only because he, as an angel, is not perfect enough to meet them. He doesn't blame the job or God, he blames himself for his own shortcomings, wishing he was better but knowing that he's probably the only angel who could do such a taxing duty. How does he blame this perfect being who did absolutely nothing wrong in this scenario? It's kind of like a child who is asked by a father to go steal something from a bank and fails at it, and later gets upset not because it was the wrong thing to do or because the father was technically a criminal, but because he failed at doing what his father wanted to do. He's the one who didn't match up to the perfect image that his father had for him, therefore it's his fault that it occurred. So, he tries to pretend that everything is okay so that he can show "daddy" how good he is and watch him be proud of him.

I HOPE THIS IS ALRIGHT. Really, if you have any questions or want me to condense this into something more readable or whatever, don't hesitate to ask me. Thank you!
