We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every two weeks, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. If you wish to request a specific apartment, please do so in the relevant part of the application. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Every attempt will be made to place a character in their chosen apartments, though this may not always be possible depending on the slots available.

Applications are open constantly, but are only processed every other Friday at 7PM EST. The Saturday following acceptance, an IC mingle log will be posted for characters to be introduced to the game.

We now have a test drive community at haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old.

Revised Sample:

For Alice, food was the make or break of a situation. She could be in a lively and festive town or a dump in the middle of nowhere and be just as happy, so long as she had something good to eat. Not just that, but the distraction of what would be her next meal helped keep her from thinking about "trivial" things, like what Haven was and why she was stuck there.

So, being the overly confident new arrival that she was, Alice made her way to the subway. She had been told that there was better food to eat and more luxuries in a part of town that was somewhere along the tracks, so that place seemed like the next logical stop for her. Never mind that she had been warned of monsters and other troublesome nuisances in that part of town, like some stupid scaredy cat policy that got people running back after a few hours (she had not been paying attention when that was explained, but instead trying to be a human can opener and break through a can of pork with her teeth).

"tch. It won't be a problem." She reminded herself, standing at the entrance and brushing some hair behind her shoulder. Then she crossed her arms over her chest and stepped towards what seemed to be stairs, peering down into the darkness with the most unimpressed of looks.

And staring for quite some time.
"... There's nothing down there. They must be making it all up." She broke her own annoying silence with a huff, then took her first stomping step forward. "If there is something down there then it had best greet me like a man! You heard me!"

Her voice echoed. There was no immediate response. Then a sound, one that Alice quickly decided was some sort of growl. Her expression flipped to uncertainty for just a brief moment before she glared again. About to open her mouth and yell at the darkness that had growled at her. Then seeing what was perhaps a tail flicking out of the shadows.

It could really have been a trick her eyes were playing on her. Or perhaps something really was down there. Most likely a combination of those and an overactive imagination. Either way, Alice felt some of her confidence melt. Not because she wasn't brave, just so you know. Only because Oz was not there to be her servant/meat shield and she had no Gilbert to unseal her powers if she needed to kick ass.

Oh right, she thought now, those two were actually a really important part of her impulsive operation.

"Well then! You got off lucky!" She snapped down into the darkness. Alice even stomped her foot as loudly as possible, even when that hurt a bit, and put her hands on her hips. Cackling as she continued to cover the bruises on her pride with empty words, "Today is your lucky day because I have no interest in entertaining mongrels that hide in shadows! No interest at all! Ahahaha!!! Perhaps another day!"

She lowered her arms and turned swiftly, still smiling proudly... all the way back to the apartments, as she sped-walked away from that creepy place as fast as she could.
