Applications

APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN!
The next processing date is Friday 11th October

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every two weeks, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. If you wish to request a specific apartment, please do so in the relevant part of the application. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Every attempt will be made to place a character in their chosen apartments, though this may not always be possible depending on the slots available.

Applications are open constantly, but are only processed every other Friday at 7PM EST. The Saturday following acceptance, an IC mingle log will be posted for characters to be introduced to the game.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old.

Sample Entry:
[The video starts to show a young girl who almost seems too beautiful to be real. Her skin is like porcelain, every strand of long, blonde hair is perfectly in place, and her crimson and markedly Victorian outfit doesn't have so much as a wrinkle. She's perfectly composed and put together, staring at the camera evenly and with a refined, elegant expression.

At least, that's how it starts. As soon as she recognizes the video has started, her cool expression turns sharply into a frown, and she settles back to address Haven quite haughtily.]

There. What a difficult little machine this is proving to be...

[She sits primly, picking up a teacup to sip at. Observant Havenites might notice, however, that something seems off about the background. Everything seems a little too big. Which is because this perfect-looking girl is really really only a few feet tall, since she's a doll.]

But I suppose this is where I will make my address to the large humans that seem to be overrunning this dismal place. First, I find the quality of this place unacceptable and deplorable. It's no condition for a lady, and I find it utterly distasteful that I should be kidnapped to such a place. Second, I seek a rather gloomy boy by the name of Jun. If you tell him his master is looking for him, he'll understand, so please direct him my way.

[hmphs!!] —And finally. The tea I have found here is absolutely unacceptable. It's barely fit to drink at all, but in absence of anything else, I had to make do. I do hope that someone will be able to provide something of more quality, or at least give me advice on where to obtain some.

[She pauses, closing her eyes as she lifts the tea toward her mouth.]

And one more thing. Any Maidens should reveal themselves, or I shall be forced to find you myself, which will make me quite cross.

Sample Entry Two:
What a wreteched noise.

While Shinku was pleased that Jun had finally mustered his courage to return to school, it was still terrible to be awoken by the grating noise of an alarm clock's beeps. She didn't think it was necessary either, since Nori would gladly wake him in a much more acceptable way.

But it doesn't turn off. Certainly Jun was an idiotic servant who stumbled about in sleepiness, but it was still too long for such a thing. Shinku cracks open the lid of her box with an annoyed expression, ready to turn it off for him and wake him painfully as punishment for how his thick-headedness interfered with her rest.

Shinku's eyes widen in surprise, and the her perfect composure drops, for a moment.

"Jun...?" She calls out for him, opening the box wider as she steps out. Surely the other dolls had moved past kidnapping by this point. "Jun, you idiotic servant, if you don't come out right now, I'll have to punish you severely for your transgression."

There's no answer, and it makes her frown deepen in uncertainty. She moves onto the immediate (and still grating) problem of the alarm clock, which she's luckily able to reach by standing on her toes. The noise is silenced, and she feels her thoughts already growing clearer without such a distraction. She reaches up to her chest absently, confirming that the connection is still there, but... It seems so far away. Was it possible that she had been taken through the N-field once again?

She makes an annoyed noise, because this was trying her patience. If it were another ploy of that troublesome white rose, fine, she would deal with it swiftly. Shinku walks to the bedroom door, intending to storm out and draw that child's attention, if that was what was necessary.

...Though the effect is somewhat ruined as she stares up at the door handle and stretches again to reach it.

If only humans weren't so stupidly large.

Character Name: Touko Fukawa
Canon: Super Dangan Ronpa
Canon Point: Post-game

Background/History: Not much is known about her background, other than her extensive literary career which earned her the title of 'Super High School Level Literary Girl', which leaves much to question. However, what is known is that Fukawa was one of the students of Hope Peak Academy and had a wonderful time with her classmates before "The Most Despair-Inducing Incident in History" occurred, which later leads to the game's story line or how the characters solve the mystery of Hope Peak Academy. Her memories of her time at Hope's Peak Academy prior to the game's main story line were erased just like the majority of her classmates, but those memories are not touched upon other than revealing that Fukawa had opted to have her memories erased by the chairman of Hope's Peak just as her fellow classmates did pre-game. This was done in order to "restore hope to the world" after "The Most Despair-Inducing Incident in History" occurred and is not shown until the last parts of the game. Fukawa herself is one of the surviving characters, and has various interactions with the other characters (for the most part, they were negative rather than positive).

In Chapter Two of the game, it is revealed that Fukawa suffers from Multiple Personality Disorder, and her other personality is actually a notorious serial killer known as Genocider Syo, who kills men that "turn her on" with hand- crafted scissors. The physical difference between them is not only in their personalities, but how they carry themselves: Fukawa is nervous and shaky, while Syo is very confident about herself. Also, Syo's tongue is always out when she is in control of their body and her eyes have a much more red tint to them than Fukawa's. The trigger that sets the two apart and can allow one to be "awakened" are known to be a sneeze and/or passing out. While this revelation from Byakuya Togami makes most of her peers turn on her and assume that she is the culprit behind the murder of Fujisaki Chihiro, it is revealed by protagonist Makoto Naegi that she was not the murderer. After this, it appears that her peers accept the fact that Fukawa has MPD, yet still find Fukawa and Genocider Syo both very unnerving. Despite the fact that Togami betrayed Fukawa's trust by revealing her secret, she and Syo develop an unhealthy attraction for him that goes so far that Fukawa is extremely submissive to him and will take his orders without question, no matter how ridiculous they are. Syo, on the other hand, talks frequently about doing lewd acts with him and then killing him as she did with prior men she's been attracted to.

Fukawa and Syo both occasionally provide information in the game that helps the protagonist/player discover important details about cases and murders. At the beginning of the game's final chapter, it is noted that Fukawa and Syo, while having little body strength, are actually quite durable and highly resistant to injuries, since she was in the prime range of an explosive that sent her several feet in the air and came out of the ordeal totally unscathed. At the end of the game during the final trial, Syo comes out after Fukawa sneezes and reveals that her memories were not erased like Fukawa's but she doesn't remember "The Most Despair-Inducing Event in History" because Fukawa was in control of their body at the time it happened, which shows that the two's memories are not connected. In the "true end" of the game, it is unknown what happens to her since she ventures out with the rest of the surviving cast, yet in the game's "bad end" she dies of an unknown cause, as Togami is shown holding a picture of her instead of her being shown with the remaining cast members.

Personality: If Fukawa's personality could be described in one word, it would easily be 'negative'. She has a negative view on the world, the people around her and most of all herself. Because of her persecution complex and lack of self-confidence, she automatically assumes that everyone that even looks at her instantly thinks she is disgusting or unworthy of breathing. Along with that, she constantly berates herself and is very scornful of other people. She doesn't let anything go, and will bring up negative traits of other people if only to bother them just so they're as uncomfortable as she. With all of that in mind, she detests human contact, and is very reclusive; She hides in a safe place so as to get away from others and compose herself. She has high anxiety and social anxiety, and can easily explode at the drop of a hat, her mood swings are unpredictable. All of this is most likely due to possible severe bullying she endured as a young child. She honestly sees herself as a lowly thing, and beats herself down when she is truly an exceptional writer and intelligent girl. Fukawa honestly enjoys writing, regardless of her fame and SHSL title, as it appears to be her greatest passion (other than Togami, of course) and would have most likely pursued a career in writing novels. However, she is unsure of how long she and Syo can get along with Syo's murders, as Syo has no intention of stopping and would be content in killing her "crushes" forever.

Fukawa's other personality, Genocider Syo, however, is very sadistic, loud, crude and quite obnoxious. She delights in making others around her uncomfortable, and has no guilt nor remorse for her past killings, and is actually boastful of them. She also insults Fukawa, viewing her as a weak girl, even though neither of them have enough physical strength to lift anything much more than the hand-crafted scissors Syo makes. Syo's laugh is a trademark, and sends chills down Fukawa's peers' spines when they hear it. She's obviously insane, and has no qualms about it whatsoever. Syo does and says what she wishes regardless of what anyone thinks, then gleefully causes panic between other classmates for no other reason than to delight in watching them squirm. Yet, during the game's final trial, when the culprit and her motives are revealed, even Syo is shown to be put off by Junko's actions and describes them as "not funny", even by Syo's standards. Syo's serial murders are categorized by the fact that they are all male victims that have varying ages, and they are all gutted and crucified with scissors that Syo herself crafts. Also, she typically leaves a sign in her victim's blood that is known as 'bloodstain fever'. She has killed several men, and no one was able to deduce the culprit until Fukawa confessed the crimes to Togami.

While the two have mostly negative traits, they are both highly intelligent, as Fukawa is the "Super High School Level Literary Girl" and Genocider Syo has committed several murders while not being caught. They are both very dedicated to their passions, and loyal to those they deem worthy of it (Togami Byakuya being the only one we canonically see Fukawa being loyal to). Fukawa is passionate about her writing, which is ironic as they all deal with the subject of romance and Fukawa being socially inept and suspicious of anyone and everyone; She has an extensive vocabulary that shines through even when she's stuttering over her words, which she does nearly every time she talks. Her books have been published all around the world and translated into many different languages for her adoring fans. Syo is passionate and dedicated to her acts of killing, and almost gets a high off of doing so. The men that "turn her on" are her victims, and most likely are the object of Fukawa's and Syo's affections. Fukawa is shy and incredibly nervous around those she fancies, as shown with Togami, yet Syo is very physical and talks about her intentions and feelings freely. In the past it is seen that Syo kills the men that both she and Fukawa fancy, which could easily be another factor in Fukawa's uneasiness around others: she fears being caught, and condemned for what Syo has done, and she fears that if she desires a man, then Syo will also and end up killing him. The relationship between both personalities is strained and they seem to dislike one another, Fukawa being slightly fearful of Syo's damaged and unstable mental health, while Syo insults and talks down to Fukawa quite often, even if she isn't "there" to hear it.

Not surprisingly, Fukawa is very masochistic, and puts herself in situations that make her uncomfortable, while still trying to avoid them due to her hatred and high suspicion of others. She seems to have a negative relationship with everyone of the cast, or one that is non-existent. However, in the case of Byakuya Togami, their relationship is very.. Complicated. She and Syo both quickly fall head over heels for him, and Fukawa becomes like his servant, doing anything he says in the name of love, and takes every word of his to heart. Syo, as well as Fukawa even though she doesn't voice it so publicly, talks about killing him and having sexual relations with him, all of which disgusts Togami. He views her as a dog, and a means to get what he wants, as he does most people, and while it isn't hard for Fukawa to see this, she is too smitten to care. She does everything he requests without a second thought. Syo and Fukawa both are obviously physically attracted to Togami and make it painfully obvious to him and the other characters, as Fukawa has drooled and gasped for air at his mere words, and Syo has taken to physical contact, despite the fact that Togami does not desire any sort of relationship with either personality that goes farther than he bossing them around.

Looking at her, Fukawa is obviously frail physically and mentally. She's petite, jumpy and wears an almost constant expression of unease. She fears the site of blood just as much as social contact, while Syo delights in it since when she sees blood, it's typically because of Syo's own actions. It seems that the only thing that could bring a genuine smile to Fukawa's face is her writing. However, it's also possible that a date with Togami Byakuya might do the trick as well.

Abilities/Powers: Due to her Super High School Level title, she has the same abilities of a novelist, except, that she "super-excels" in her field of qualifications and her literary prowess is so extensive, it's almost scary! She can spin tales with ease, and create novels that are celebrated internationally with little effort.

Items/Weapons: Her glasses, Syo's handmade scissors, and her in game attire of a long, brown Japanese school girl uniform with matching socks and loafers.

Sample Entry:

[ She had been pouring her heart out into this novel, and had been working on it for days now. She deemed it her magnum opus, and had not ever worked on such a story like this since her very first, back when she was small. This story was the final part in a long running series of hers, the series which she enjoyed writing the most. It was so personal to her, almost as if it was a part of her, and -- ]

[ A phone ringing cut off her thought process and brought her back into the real world. Immediately, she flew into a frenzy of rage. How dare they interrupt her, whomever they be?! She reached over and picked it up, ready to barrage the caller with a verbal insult. Surprisingly, it was her editor. A
spineless man that even Fukawa could easily manipulate. ]

Shut up, you, you, you disgusting pig! I told you not to call me lest I call you first! Garbage!

[ She hung up quickly, not allowing her editor to even get a word in of protest, then began to work herself back into her creative process. She'd made it clear in the past how hard it was for her to really divulge into her work and they dared interrupt her?! Those bastards! She's make them pay.. They'd all
pay! ]

I hate you.. All of you.. W -- worthless ani.. Animals!

[ Fukawa had now easily wrought herself into a fit, and soon began to weep. She couldn't work under these conditions! ]

Sample Entry Two:

“GEYAHAHAHAAHA, GEHEHEHE, GYOHOHO!!!”

Her scissors ripped through the flesh of her newest victim, splattering his handsome face and dimming the shine of his single ear piercing. His eyes were torn wide open in endless, postmortem fear. His limp wrists bled and sagged, pinned against a crucifix of her own, crude fashioning. His entrails hung in beautiful, ruby-tipped pastels at his waist, the wide gash in his stomach scooped clean of blood. She needed it all. Every single drop was desired, and Genocider Syo's signature ‘bloodstain fever’ became embellished on a near-by wall.

She had taken part in this gruesome ritual for some hours now, luring her victim to a secluded area with promises of lust, then attacked with her most prized possessions, hand-made scissors, that she had left there in preparation days before. Gleefully, she watched as he squirmed and even attempted to get away, yet he was not faster than her. No, he wouldn't be leaving here anytime soon. Now, she sat back with a soft sigh and admired her handiwork; she was truly an artist of the highest caliber! There was no one that could compare with her! She laughed more, then skipped back towards the over-killed corpse, she rubbed a bloody hand on its handsome cheek, leaving behind a gracious crimson smudge. She clasped her hands together and sighed wistfully. He was adorable, so handsome.. But such a horndog, and what a liar! Those negative traits of his made her pout momentarily, yet then was replaced by a gruesome giggle when she realized that this memory of his corpse would forever be branded in her mind just like the rest of them.

"You're mine! All mine, forever and ever! Gyehahahahahaaaaah!"

Shijima Kurookano ;; Nabari no Ou | not reserved

[personal profile] dustyrhythm 2013-03-15 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality: Despite her childish appearance and easygoing manner, Shijima is someone who has been observing the world and the people around her for more than a century. Her verdict? Life is tiresome, humans are idiotic, and the only things she's really concerned about are naps and food. It's living that has made her this cynical and disconnected to her surroundings. After years of wandering and watching others live and die without her, Shijima has only one goal. She wishes to die. Immortality is a burden that has been weighing on her for many years and she hasn't found much in life worth living for. She is primarily motivated by her goal and pretty much ignores anything that can distract her from it. Unlike her companion, Shijima has no interest in blending into society to ingratiate herself with other human beings. Human bonds hold very little interest to her. Instead, she involves herself when she feels that it would be beneficial for her, rather than for anyone else.

While her goal has made her incredibly determined, it has also made her quite cruel. She's willing to kill those that stand in her way with little regret as long as she can achieve her goal. Shijima is a firm believer in means to the end and every sacrifice is worth it if she can take another step to death. Her morally gray beliefs are a natural product of the environment she has been living in. As a direct observer of the ninja way, Shijima has learned that killing, assassinating, stealing, and preying on others is acceptable as long as you're clever enough to come out of it as the winner. On the other hand, being so focused on death doesn't mean that Shijima despises life. She's fond of her luxuries and creature comforts (quite literally in her case) and she's been shown to have been fond of a few individuals in her lifetime. She shows her affection through loyalty and while she may be bitter, moody, and cynical most of the time, she's found that there are some humans who aren't idiots. She's more realistic than pessimistic. She understands human nature and while she's quick to mock and belittle it, she's also seen humans capable of great kindness and respect.

She's not a very cuddly or affectionate individual in general though. Instead, she's prone to making sarcastic remarks and she particularly enjoys mocking as a form of affection. Her one other companion, Kouichi, is the brunt of her many jokes and insults. While Kouichi has become far more human with each life he's lived, Shijima has stubbornly stayed aloof. Her mannerisms are very much like a cat. She's moody and distracted, quick to leave when things are boring and quick to show up if she can make a sarcastic comment or two. She takes advantage of human kindness frequently and usually leaves without saying a word of thanks. As a cat and as a person, Shijima refuses to be tied down to any one place or individual. After all, she knows that attachments can easily lead to despair and she's been hurt too many times in her lifetime to endure that again.

Abilities/Powers: Shijima is immortal. Her body heals itself even after taking fatal wounds. She can also transform into a white cat which is her true form. She has knowledge of the ninja arts, especially the art of transforming (called tenpenka) which she uses to assume her human shape. She prefers fighting hand-to-hand though. Her strength and agility far outstrip an average human's and she's shown to overpower ninjas as well.
Items/Weapons: Two pairs of brass knuckles with claws.
Sample Entry:

It smells. [shijima curls up] For a place so filled with humans, you'd think that someone would clean up once in a while. Aren't humans fond of making places livable? [ she yawns, curling a long strand of white hair around her hand ] For all your idiocy and mistakes, even I have to admit that -- when it comes to making the 'best' of a worst situation -- humans have always won in that regard.

Of course, you're also the best when it comes to exerting as little effort as possible. What was that called again...? One of your silly seven deadly sins... Sloth. It says something about human nature if laziness is considered deadly.

[ She pauses. ] Prove me wrong. At least tell me that one of you has a plan in this place. I might even take back what I said earlier. [ spoiler, she probably won't. ]

Sample Entry Two: Shijima stared at the sky.

She had been sitting, back arched and haunches ready, for over two hours at least and yet still, not a sign of a single sparrow or robin winging its oblivious way in the sky. She knew that there were cans and vegetables available to sate her hunger, but she disliked vegetables just as much as she disliked opening cans. Can-opening was an activity best left to humans. Still, she was sick of being fed and she felt anxious enough to swipe at something that would crunch and bleed under her grip. If only she could find something.

Her cat-shaped eyes flickered to the left, distracted by a sign of movement. No, it was only another human bumbling about and making a mess of things. She stretched from her position and picked herself up from the floor. If she hadn't been able to find a bird before, then she definitely wouldn't be able to find one now. Not with all the racket the human was making anyway. She had been around humans with soft treads for too long. At least ninjas knew when to be quiet. She was beginning to take silent humans for granted.

Shijima slipped to the floor quiet as a shadow. She'd teach this clumsy human a thing or two about the dangers of being too loud. Nothing permanent though. Maybe one or two claws sunk into his thighs. That should be a good enough lesson, even for a idiotic human.
