We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every two weeks, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. If you wish to request a specific apartment, please do so in the relevant part of the application. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Every attempt will be made to place a character in their chosen apartments, though this may not always be possible depending on the slots available.

Applications are open constantly, but are only processed every other Friday at 7PM EST. The Saturday following acceptance, an IC mingle log will be posted for characters to be introduced to the game.

We now have a test drive community at haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old.

Personality: Hunter, like most kids would run late for things, but in his case it’s almost like a curse. From the moment he was saved by Abraham and was given the elder man’s watch, no matter what clock he looked at, it always says the time 8:13. And this brought a lot of strain to Hunter’s daily life. He is always late for everything, whether it be school or something even more important like visiting his mother at the hospital. People would mock him for always running late and question why they could hear alarms going off but he could not. So this made him a bit of a shy person. He tends to keep to himself more than taking lead of the group.

From a young age he had grown very close with his mother who kept insisting that he was a special child, but Hunter didn’t see it that way. To him, his life seemed pretty bland. He wasn’t good at sports, his grades were mediocre at best. He enjoyed things most would find nerdy. So this brought a lot of self doubt. His mother would try to convince him what an amazing child he really was but he just didn’t see it. So when she kept telling him without a doubt that he could get into Morning Glory Academy and should just send in his application it made him nervous. Because why would an amazing school like that take him? It was an even bigger shock when he actually got into the school. He was so overwhelmed at the thought that his mother had actually been right that he made it his goal to go to the school and show them he was of real worth.

While he a shy person, he isn’t against making friends. The moment he arrives in his new dorm room he tries to joke around with his roommates. It is with these new friends that he notices that something odd is going on in this school. While he may be timid when the time comes to stand he comes out of his shell and will do whatever he needs to do. When his classmates and himself are locked in their classroom as it begins to fill with water, he shocks everyone by saving one of the other boys who had been knocked unconscious. Later on when they are trying to rescue one of the girls, he helps form a plan with Casey and even proves that he is willing to throw himself in danger to help these new friends.


Abilities/Powers: Hunter is hinted to have some type of abilities but they are not known to him, or known within the canon of the comic yet. He has the problem that since he was 10, no matter what clock he looks at it will always say 8:13. He has learned that if it a drawn clock then he can tell what time the picture say. But no matter what real clock he looks at, the time never changes for him.

The sun was high in the sky, just at the perfect angle to shine right through the windows and onto Hunter’s sleeping face. The boy groaned, his eyes pinched in annoyance as he tried to roll away from the light. After a few moments of tossing back and forth and trying to curl into himself, Hunter’s eyes slowly drifted open. He sat up dazed, blinking as he glanced around the room.

A room he didn’t recognize at all.

Sure, this wasn’t the first time he had woken up in a odd place and at least this time there weren’t any dead bodies around him.

“You’ve gotta be kidding me...”

He slid to the edge of his bed looking himself up and down and pinched his leg. “Well at least I’m not dreaming.” He glanced at his wrist wondering what time it was and to his delight, saw he still had his watch even if it still only said the time was 8:13. At least something was familiar.

“Okay, well I don’t see Jun anywhere...or anyone for that matter.” Hunter got off the bed and made his way over to the apartment’s door. “Maybe outside?” He muttered and pulled the door open enough to peek outside.

Personality:

Yuu, to be frank, is an intolerable asshole who considers himself a hell of a lot more smarter than he actually is. Like really, he's ranked the stupidest out of Lenalee, Lavi, Allen and himself (it even goes in that order--). He's downright rude, violent and as stubborn as a come. To put it short-- He's definitely not the type of person you would befriend without some sort of great reason.

From the start, Yuu has been pretty terrible to his comrades. He prefers to work on his own, and thinks of many of them as only hindrances. Be a burden to him and he'll abandon you, and will not hesitate you let you know just why he decides to do so. Maybe that's one of his weak points, hm? In his own opinion, he works just fine by himself, but truthfully, he does.  But he's even better ten-fold when he chooses to actually co-operate with Lavi, or Allen, Marie-- the lot. But even that can turn out to be a problem for him, most of the time..

Yuu wasn't always alone though. Beginning, well, resurrected as a second exorcist, Yuu was awakened and raised alongside, Alma Karma, another second exorcist who was later revealed to be Yuu's lover/wife in both their past lives. They didn't know this...of course, until akuma!Alma was killed. Before as children, Alma would constantly be on the receiving end of Kanda's explosive temper just for trying to befriend him, and often ended up in the Asian Branch's medical sector (Yuu too, they truly were match-for-match). This didn't change when Kanda grew older, or really, got even worse, only this time, the one getting (most of) it is Allen Walker.

Emotions are definitely not his strong point. Most of the time he is stoic towards a lot of situations that ~move~ the others: the earliest example being when he kept pushing for Lala, a doll, to be destroyed in order to get the Innocence that kept her 'alive' to function as a companion for a dying deformed hermit, Guzol. Allen's argument won, and he allowed them to live their last few days together, not without snapping at Allen for being too 'soft' and 'pathetic', of course.  But after being used and nearly killed by only organisation you have trusted (Black Order), and being forced to kill your only companion to save said organisation from demise, and then working for them for the rest of your life-- who can blame him? Though.. In Alma's last moments, we see a softer and emotionally intact side to Yuu as he mourns the death of his friend, but just before he passes, Alma confesses his love, and we see (probably) the most genuine smile Yuu produces for the entire series

Between the misuse and experimentation of his own self, Alma's unconscious body, Alma's later death, the mishandling/accusations towards his fellow exorcists, Yuu has come to hate the Black Order, Innocence, and many of the higher officials that decide the fate of the exorcists, like mere pawns on their chessboard. He had never given his consent to become one of their exorcists, and it was just.. expected of him. When he found out about his reincarnation as a child, he snapped, hysterically, and demanded to know information about his past life, only to be met with an immediate death sentence -- but he revived, luckily?? He still despises the Order after his disappearance, albeit recently, he has been appointed to become a new general for the Black Order, despite hiding his ability to surpass the 'Critical Point', only  to continue his search for Allen Walker.

All of this negative behavior, abuse and disrespect he has been dishing out for all these years and justifying it with the torture that the Order has put him through-- he's not proud of it. And it took Allen's sacrifice and Alma's death to make him realise it. He caused the Fourteenth to further awaken within Allen during the assault on the North American branch, even so, Allen suppressed that and managed to transport Yuu and Alma to safety to savour whatever moments they had together; Yuu could not allow himself to die knowing that Allen had not been paid back for this, he could not die knowing the suffering Allen would have to go through for his actions, and vowed to help to help/find him, at least. but that doesn't mean be nice to him/others nope

It's clear to say that even if Yuu is blunt, cruel and short-tempered towards many of the exorcists, scientists, generals (Fiedoll, to be precise), and Allen, especially, it's clear that he wouldn't have changed, nor emotionally matured. Here's to say, having friends actually did him the world of good, even if they had to suffer for it <3

Re: Yuu Kanda | D.Gray-Man | Reserved 3/4 | Warning! Spoilers ahead.

Abilities/Powers: 

• Physical prowess and agility:  Yuu is stronger than an average human, and can move a lot faster and jump a hell of a lot further than a lot of the other characters within the series, even without the effects of his Innocence.
• Elite Swordsman: Perhaps its due to the nature of his Innocence, or that he grew up under the tutelage of Master Zu, but Kanda is an expert swordsman. Even when Mugen is not activated, he is exceptional at handling a blade, and can even fight Akuma up to Level Four.
• Artificial Enhanced Regeneration: Yuu can regenerate at a completely abnormal level; lost limbs, crushed skulls, even rebirth after death-- he can bring himself back from it. It was recorded by the Asian Branch that his rate of regeneration takes him around 580 seconds until he is fit for battle (or forced Innocence synchronization in that case). He is one of the characters that is immune to the Akuma blood virus, and his blood contains amazing healing properties that even saved Noise Marie from brain trauma. 
• Mugen: Yuu's Innocence takes form of a sword that possesses the abilities to release illusions and increase his physical strength to a state both highly dangerous to both himself and the enemy. After returning to the Black Order after his disappearance, Yuu's Innocence took on a new 'Crystal Type' form from his own blood, which means he no longer has to worry about his blade being damaged, and it has become a hell of a lot stronger. He no longer needs to draw his finger along the blade to activate it, making his attacks a lot faster. As recently revealed, Yuu had long surpassed the critical points. Some of Mugen's attacks and abilities include:

1. First Illusion; Netherworld Insects: The blade releases a swarm of angry insects to devour the opponent.
2. Double Illusion Sword: Mugen covers its scabbard and blade with a pure white energy, making both into two sharp blades. He then uses an attack called the Eight Flower Mantis with this technique; a sequence of eight slashes that ends looking like a lotus.
3. Ascending Flower: This is where Yuu begins to use the power of his tattoo, and his pupil separates into three dots. Once activated, he can then use Triple Illusion which feeds directly off of Yuu's life force to increase his strength, or Exploding Spirit Cut, which is a powerful slash that separates into many other little explosions.
4. Fourth Illusion Style: His pupils split into four dots, and in exchange for more of his life, there is another dramatic increase in his strength and speed to a monstrous level.
5. Fifth Illusion Style: This is Mugen's final release; the blade changes colour and takes a tremendous strain on Yuu's body that eats away at his life force dramatically in comparison to the other Illusionary techniques. Yuu also enters a destructive state that that lacks control and goes completely 'berserk'. In this state he can also use Ripping Flash Claw, a technique that releases several sharp energy strikes upon the opponent.
