Applications Two

APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED!
The next application opening date is Friday 16th January, 7pm EST.
The next application processing date is Friday 23rd January, 7pm EST.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.

While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

To see what we are looking for:
Canon Characters:
Sample Application (Faith Lehane)

Original Characters:
Sample Application (Mors)

Abilities/Powers: None. But since he used to pilot an Evangelion, he could probably pilot something similar to it. Otherwise, he's a normal kid.
Items/Weapons: Just the clothes on his back and his SDAT player (that used to belong to his father).
Sample Entry:
Dear mun
Asgard Eventide Masquerade log

Sample Entry Two:
He was by himself. Again. And that was ok. It's like the boy once told Misato (when she worried about the idea of him living by himself), he was used to being alone. That is something he' s known since childhood.

A press of the play button and a 'click' would be heard if anyone were to be on the very same rooftop of this particular apartment. Blue eyes open when the music never came to his earphones.

Ah. It seems... that his SDAT player isn't working.

It looks like he would to go without his SDAT player or look for someone that could fix it.

Shinji Ikari just walking up to anyone in this place and ask for help with ease? That was almost as likely as snow in summer. So it is a given Shinji would rather just not bother and leave it for broken. Pity. He had no other means to tune out this world, now. This world that he never asked to be in. Then again. He never for a lot of things that had happened. He never asked to pilot the Evangelion. He never asked to see his father again. He never asked to kill the one person who he loved. Things just happened. He simply lived.

And that was what he was going to do here.

These ceilings would be unfamiliar to Shinji for some time now. And that was ok. Even when he was back in his own world, there never was a familiar ceiling to look up to.

What was he without his Evangelion, now? What would have been left now that there were no more angels to fight? (His purpose was done.) He wasn't much. He was Shinji Ikari. But he was here. He lived.

So with a heavy mind and a sigh escaping his lips, Shinji laid on his back to look up at the dark sky. His ear plug still set in place, hoping people left him alone, still. But he would be aware of anything going on around him. His potential roomates wouldn't need to wait up in him. The brunet seemed content out here for a little longer.

Character Name: Tifa Lockhart
Canon: Final Fantasy VII
Canon Point: Advent Children: After being defeated by Loz
Background/History: Wikia || [Loveless]

Personality:
Tifa Lockhart acts far more mature than her 22 years of age would suggest. This is due to her having to grow up quickly. At the tender age of eight, Tifa lost her mother. Young and confused, adventurous Tifa got into her mind that if she climbed a mountain, she'd be able to see her other once more. That ended with her in a week long coma. From that moment onward, her father had become protective and Tifa had to learn to grow up without the help of her mother. Despite the tragedy and the sudden changes she would have to grow accustomed to, Tifa was still very popular and friendly. She had many friends growing up. She remained cheerful and supportive. In her preteen years, most of the boys in her village starting leaving for the army. When confronted by Cloud, whom she'd known her entire life, about his soon departure for the quest of power and fame, Tifa asked him to promise that he'd be her knight in shining armor. She said she'd wanted to "try it out, at least once." Considering she'd been best of friends with the boys, she'd have to keep up with them and show the that she could roughhouse just as much as them. Her admission to Cloud on this topic showed that she wished to be a little...girlier. Even if just in his eyes. She was shy about it, embarrassed even, but determined to give him some sort of excuse to come back and see her once more.

With her friends gone, Tifa was soon put into self defense lessons with a master martial artist named Zangan. She was determined to make herself useful and possibly show everyone that even though they all left to become stronger, she was able to gain strength and still stay home. She knew that her friends would become great soldiers and didn't want to be left behind, waiting and playing the damsel. Sure she had asked Cloud to save her in her time of need, but she liked to think that she could be right by his side, watching his back too. So she worked hard and pushed herself, she held so much promise that Zangan had declared that she was quite possibly the greatest student he ever took on. Still as adventurous as ever, Tifa learned her way up and down the mountain without any more disasters. She'd come to know the mountain well enough that she was contracted by ShinRa as a guide at just the age of 15. Despite her father's protest, Tifa was determined to show these SOLDIERS (among them First Class, Zack Fair and The General Sephiroth). She never stopped thinking about Cloud, even going so far as to ask Zack if he'd known a blonde SOLDIER, referring to Cloud. It could also be because he never wrote her any letters. It's shown that she'd at least received letters from Johnny, and Tifa grew worried about the boy she had made a promise with a few years ago.

Unfortunately, Tifa would again be forced into growing quicker than any teenager would have to. Sephiroth's sudden rampage on her small village set it aflame. Tifa saw her village burn down to the ground and lost her last family member. She was the last Lockhart. Seeing her father's bloody figure on the ground, being there for his final moments tore at Tifa. She turned to revenge and in a fit of rage and teenage stupidity, she acted before thinking. She should've known that she would be no match for the greatest SOLDIER that ever existed. She was just a child and was dispatched of quickly. When she woke up, she was in Midgar with Zangan. Her master would soon leave once he knew she was out of danger, and she would be forced to live on her own. At 15 years old, Tifa was practically alone in the world. She learned to be tough and survive in the slums of the large city. She was fortunate enough that a year later she met a man named Barret. He had a baby, not even a year old, with him. And so he took Tifa in as well and Tifa learned to work, to take care of a child and take care of a grown man. At some point she became the owner and proprietor of the bar, Seventh Heaven.

In the four years of serving people, having a family again, having friends who decided to live dangerously, she learned to be a motherly woman, who cares about everyone around her. Mama bear is a good way to describe her, really. Warm and kind one minute but if you hurt her loved ones, watch out! She can be a tad bit overprotective. She's very giving and will easily sacrifice everything she has to make others happy. Tifa's trust isn't something given, it's earned. But when you have it, she trusts you with her life. When one becomes important enough to her that she legitimately trusts them, she's willing to give her soul and mind for that person. Which is actually saying a lot considering she's very willing to help strangers out as well. It's just a bigger step when one becomes someone she can call a friend. She's very self-sacrificing and will put herself in danger's way in order to protect her loved ones. She's not one to back down from a fight and this is especially true if she's defending someone. She's also very stubborn, when she believes her way is the right way, don't expect her to just back down. If you're not going to see it her way, then she's better off without you. Or she'll at least try to make you see it her way. Unless of course, you're a very close friend. Then she becomes a lot more open minded. She has a horrible habit of taking care of everyone but herself.

Tifa has quite a lot of patience, even for (some) of her enemies. She'll sit and listen to someone's life story for however long they need her for because she believes people deserve at least that, a lending ear. A shoulder to cry, a lap to sleep on. Well...ok maybe not her lap. But she'll help however she can. It comes with working as a bartender in the slums of Midgar for four years. When you're on the receiving end of life stories from people hoping to drink their worries away into oblivion, you realize you can sit through just about anything. Just about. Sure she's patient, but even Tifa Lockhart has a stopping point and when it hits, don't expect her to just sit and take it. She'll try to politely work through the issue at first, but when the doesn't work, Tifa isn't above being rude and blunt if she needs to. She's never really had any problem with telling someone to get out of her face before, and she doesn't now. Tifa also isn't beyond getting physical if need be. Though, usually for issues like this, it's her last resort.

When her second family and home was crushed by a section of city (literally), she went to travel with the people who survived. People she would later call her family (hopefully this time they won't die). She easily fit the role of the glue that keeps her ragtag group together, Tifa likes to joke around and keep the atmosphere light around her friends. She'll easily sit down and have a beer or play a game of cards with her friends. Despite being a fairly quiet young lady, Tifa can be rather crude when need be and hell, impulsive too. In one instance she jumped at the chance to be able to squeeze any information from Don Corneo, so desperate was she that, without a second thought, she dressed herself up and off she went to try to seduce the information out of the creep.

Although Tifa is a little rough around the edges and not the most dainty of girls, she's actually pretty shy and will clam up when it comes to her personal...romantic feelings on people. She's also not one to divulge information about herself and her past so readily. When Tifa is nervous or thinking she usually pushes a strand of her long hair away from her face and behind her ear. She almost always has a smile on her face which seems to be mysteriously contagious. Tifa tends to stand up straight, leading with her chest as she gives off an air of pride in herself. When talking to small children or animals, Tifa lowers her self to be at the same level as them as she likes to give respect to just about anyone she meets. While Tifa takes great pride in who she is, she never thinks of other people as 'lower' than herself. She prefers to think of everyone on the same level, albeit that changes if one gets on her bad side, though that takes effort.

Throughout the years, young miss Lockhart never lost her touch with her martial arts. Even though she wasn't in the front lines when she first joined Avalanche, Tifa trained in case they needed her. Not to mention, owning a bar and being a very attractive young lady in said bar in the slums of course gave her a lot of attention. She didn't like that she had to be violent, but Tifa had a very strict "keep your hands to yourself" rule in the bar. Anyone breaking said rule would find themselves out on the street. Tifa's purpose for the bar (other than to have a cover/home for Avalanche) was to bring a little bit of reprieve warmth to an otherwise depressing city. She wanted to have a place where people could be happy....without the perverts getting handsy. They could go to Wall Market for that. So Tifa made sure to keep training her body. Sure enough, the day came where she set off on adventure to save the world and Tifa's strength was at the ready.

When everything was said and done, Tifa found herself the owner of Seventh Heaven once more. Rebuilt and now in a city building itself called Edge. She had her thoughts about doing this again, but with her friends at her side, she was confident that this was what she could do. And so, two years passed and Tifa grew. She learned much about herself and her friends. Family is a very important concept to Tifa. She puts a very big emphasis on family and bonds. She easily promised Barret that she would take care of Marlene while he went in search of what his purpose was. Later, she just as readily adopted a young boy Cloud had found, Denzel. She even helped out with many orphaned children around the city. She didn't have the means to take care of all of them, but she wanted to give what she could. Despite the peace and restoration, Tifa's insecurity was something that was ever present. It didn't help that Cloud randomly disappeared and no one could get a hold of him for several months. Tifa could manage on her own, but it hurt to have her friend leave her like that. She loved him, after all. So Tifa became a single mother in everything but blood. Though Denzel and Marlene weren't hers, they were hers. She took care of them, took care of the bar, and patched messages over to Cloud's voicemail whenever necessary. She is a capable woman.

Abilities/Powers: A handy guide to Tifa's limits breaks!
As a martial artist, Tifa's weapon is her body. She uses gloves for the sake of protection and can also equip herself with gloves that will do more damage, like claws, ect. She's quick on her feet and incredibly nimble. In the game, she's able to hit three times in a single turn, all of which have the possibility of being devastatingly powerful attacks. Tifa is easily able to disarm and defeat an enemy twice her size. Her disadvantage is when she goes against any long ranged weapon. She's quick to dodge and is able to get up close to deliver some punishment, but she has to be close enough in the first place. She can also take a hit like a champ. Being swung into two pews? It's cool, she'll get back up. A true brawler, she can take and give back hits as well as any man. While not much of a materia user, Tifa does indeed know how to use them.

Items/Weapons: Her PHS (cellphone), her gloves, and a ring..

Sample Entry:
You know, maybe it's not so bad. [She had mumbled it to herself and passed a hand through her hair with a sigh. She had a habit of talking aloud when she was irritated or frustrated. It was a good way for her to blow off some tension without actually having to talk to anyone. She stomped her foot down and frowned.]

You would think that with having helped save the world and being called a hero, I'd at least be able to make a damn dollhouse. I helped rebuild this bar for Odin's sake!

[Another irritated sigh escaped the young brawler as she stared at the small wooden ah...."dollhouse". It didn't have a door, merely an opening where a door would've been. There were four windows and it seemed to be a two story house with a flat rooftop. It had three walls, the area where the fourth wall would've been at being the area where the owner of the dollhouse would be able to play with. Unfortunately the floor of the second story had fallen down, taking the walls of the bedrooms and bathroom with it.]

I thought I used enough glue that time...Oh dammit, I don't have time for this! Marlene's birthday is in a few days, what am I supposed to do? [She had hoped to give the young girl a special gift this year. It was usually clothing, and though Marlene had always graciously accepted the gifts, Tifa knew that no matter how mature the six year old was, the fact of the matter was that she was still a child. She was perceptive and incredibly intelligent, but she deserved something like a dollhouse.]

I can't paint it until it can stand on it's own without collapsing... [Tifa all but glared at the little dollhouse] I will deal with you later. [And with that, she huffed, turned around, and left the garage. It was almost time for dinner and damn if she wasn't going to make the tastiest dinner ever. And no, she was not compensating for her lack of talent in woodwork, thank you very much.]

Sample Entry Two:
"D-dammit." Tifa dropped with a huff, she carefully moved so she was hiding in the shadows of the alley-way she'd run into. Her right leg had given out on her and she didn't know how far behind the enemy was. Trying to calm herself, Tifa placed a hand on her chest, over her heart. She was panting and it felt as if she couldn't fill up her lungs properly, probably due to the blood in her mouth. Tifa grimaced at the copper taste and spit out a considerable amount of it out. She couldn't even remember the fight anymore, it had happened so quickly. Her fist tightened, her knuckles turning white as she realized how quickly she'd been beat. Her pride stung and dammit, what would Zangan say if her saw her like this? Tifa knew when she was out matched, but she should've at least been able to hold up better than she had. In order to distract herself, Tifa finally took time to take a proper look at her injured leg. Her calf was purple and greenish, the bruise from the hit before it had been sliced open. Gingerly, the martial artist pressed on the edges of the large gash, making sure nothing had fallen in that could possibly turn the hideous injury into an infection. Either way, it'd end up that way if she didn't properly tend to it soon. Deciding that she'd lucked out in hiding, Tifa decided she'd take a quick look at her condition before running off to find a safe place to treat her wounds. She didn't have enough stamina or strength to run anymore, much less fight.

Broken ribs, a possible concussion, superficial cuts everywhere, busted lip, swollen eye, sprained ankle, twisted knee, a large cut in her calf, and a dislocated shoulder. That man and the monster she had encountered afterwards had done quite a number on her. She still didn't know who the man was or what he wanted, but he'd left her when he received a call. She couldn't recall his side of the conversation, but then she'd blacked out for a moment afterwards. When she woke up once more, she was sore everywhere and started making her way to find Reeve, maybe he could shed some light on the situation. Unfortunately, bad luck was following her around and she ran into some sort of...monster she'd never seen before. It was almost like those beasts she'd encountered during the second Sephiroth attack. She successfully defeated it, but her last fight had taken it's toll on her and caused her movements to be slow. She'd taken more hits than would've been usual and it was frustrating. She was walking towards WRO headquarters when a couple of grunts, from what she could only assume was the new enemy, caught her. She had managed to incapacitate one of them, but she was exhausted and didn't have much strength left. So she ran, managing to get further away from them by using the things around her to surprise them and bring down unstable structures in between them.

Standing up was harder than expected and Tifa grunted when she put some weight down on her injured leg. Three injuries on one place was a bitch. She held herself up with the help of the wall next to her, but if she didn't go somewhere safe soon, she wasn't sure how much longer she'd be able to stay up. So it was with a wince and another grunt, that Tifa determinately pushed her way out of the alleyway. She had to find Reeve soon, with any luck she'd run into one of her friends but...well. Luck really didn't seem to be on her side today. In all honesty, Tifa just hoped that nothing else came after her, she didn't think she'd be able to last much longer if she had to fight again. Thank the Goddess the kids were with Elmyra this week.

Character Name: Tsubaki Yayoi
Canon: BlazBlue
Canon Point: Continuum Shift Extend: Before being completely controlled by Phantom.
Background/History: Wikia

Personality:
Being a part of the almighty Duodecim (a group of 12 very powerful and influential families), Tsubaki grew up like a prim and proper lady. Since the Yayoi and Kisaragi families have always been able to get along well and are actually very close, Tsubaki met and befriended Jin early on in her life. Because of this, she loves and admires him deeply. The Duodecim is closely related to the NOL and are expected to provide talented members to their forces. They are sent to the military academy early on and have privileges over the other students. When their time at the academy is over, they are guaranteed to have a rank of at least First Lieutenant. They are expected to be well-mannered and behave respectfully, to be role models. However, if they misbehave they can be stripped of their Duodecim title. Knowing this, Tsubaki strives to be a perfect example and to make her family proud. She's a very hard worker and was described as an honor student. She wholeheartedly believes that the NOL is good and puts all of her faith in them, even though they're not.

Despite growing up as a very privileged child, Tsubaki is very kind. She's very motherly and cares about people very much. When entering the academy, Tsubaki easily befriended her roommate, Noel Vermillion. She later became friends with Makoto Nanaya as well. She takes her time to help them study for classes and tries very hard to help them as much as she can. On one occasion, Tsubaki stood up for Makoto when the girl was being picked on for being beastkin. Tsubaki is very justice driven and has absolutely no tolerance of any injustice. She readily comes to the aid of her friends and likes seeing everyone happy and together. She takes pride in seeing their growth and would be considered the mother of the group. She even goes so far as to confront Jin over how he treats Noel. Multiple times. When meeting Carl, she treats the young boy as an equal, despite the fact that he is much younger than her. She never talks down to anyone, not even if they're obviously stupid (here's looking at you, Tao), she never puts her self above others and is a very loving girl When ordered to kill Jin and Noel, Tsubaki hesitated before taking the order and moving out. Even as she went to complete her orders, she tried to convince her friends to turn back, she didn't want to kill them.

Tsubaki likes period pieces and loves learning history. She's a bit of a history nut, going as far as owning every piece of merchandise related to the Six Heroes. When she met one of them, she was easily excited and starstruck. In a gag ending, while not canon, it over-exaggerates her love of history and period pieces. She corrects people on how they should act and react, and even calls herself Robin Hood. She, in the gag ending, even says that it's her "fetish". While, very exaggerated, she really does obsess over history and learning it. The Six Heroes are people she looks up to and admires. Because of their heroic battle against the Black Beast and because of Hakumen in particular, Tsubaki prides herself and upholding justice and even makes up her own little spiel much like Hakumen herself. "White feathers for innocence, black feathers for darkest sin. We are the messengers and hammers of God, come to deliver righteous justice. Let sinners be punished! Let justice be done!"

Unfortunately, due to her great stance on justice, her complete faith in the NOL, and especially her feelings towards Jin, Tsubaki can easily be manipulated. Hazama exploits this and makes her do just about anything he asks of her. So long as she knows it's a direct order from one of her superiors, she'll do just about anything. No everything but just about. That's not to say she doesn't question her orders, depending on the what she's asked to do, she will be skeptical and question it. A very easy thing to abuse is her feelings for Jin. She has to die in order to save him? She'll go right ahead and do that, even if haha, jk I was lying! At one point, Hazama feeds her half truths to get her to be serious about going after Noel, about an alternate timeline where Noel doesn't exist and Tsubaki becomes Jin's secretary. He convinces her that it's all Noel's fault, that the young girl replaced her. He didn't tell her Tsubaki dies in that timeline, but hey. Her jealousy (along with some mind games courtesy of Hazama) caused her to seriously go after her friend's life. Although, she wasn't able to land the killing blow because she realized this was her best friend and how could she kill this girl that she once protected? She becomes conflicted by her feelings and that's she's grown up believing in the NOL and the Imperator.

Abilities/Powers: Handy dandy move list!
Tsubaki, being the only daughter of a noble and incredibly powerful family, has spent most of her time studying. She's not very strong and though she has great reflexes and stamina, without her weapon, the Izayoi, she wouldn't last very long in a fight. She grew up as any proper young lady and any training in combat she received was strictly during her academic days. Despite this, while not physically strong, she's still incredibly intelligent. She uses her intelligence along with great reactionary time, stamina, and because she's quite nimble, she is able to perform long combos. They're still fairly weak, but she can easy manage juggling a person with multiple "normal" (without invoking her Drive) attacks.

Her weapon has multiple parts to it. The hat she wears, the short sword, and the shield all make up the Sealed Weapon Izayoi. The different parts can them take the shape of other weapons. The sword, for example, can become and lance or chain-sword. It's normally kept locked up and can only be opened with the blood of someone of the Yayoi family. The weapon is extremely powerful and allows the user to control light itself. but the cost of using it is that it steals the light from the user's eyes. Through continued use, the weapon can eventually kill the wielder. Not only can the weapon manipulate light, but it also draws in waves from all over the electromagnetic spectrum, meaning it can interfere with things like radio signals. It's powerful enough to create a section in the world where even the all-seeing observers, Takamagahara, cannot see.

Fun fact: the weapon is sentient, though not in the way that it can talk and move around on it's own. In Chrono Phantasma, the Izayoi has completely taken over Tsubaki's body and acts on it's own.

Tsubaki's Drive is called "Install". With it, Tsubaki is able to charge up her weapon and then swoop in and deliver a devastatingly amount of damage with her combos. The way it works is that, she literally charges up her weapon by gather light waves while fighting before going in and using the gathered energy to pound down on an opponent.

Items/Weapons: The three parts of Izayoi (sword, shield, hat)
Sample Entry:
Hello? Captain Hazama, this is First Lieutenant Tsubaki Yayoi, can you read me? [A beat] Strange...

[Tsubaki takes a moment to look around and observe her surroundings.] How did I get here? Was it some type of Ars? [She frowns.] My communication Ars don't seem to be working and I have no idea where I am, this can't be good.

[Well, time for a walk. Tsubaki is ever on her guard as she explores a bit.] I'm...pretty sure this isn't. Kagutsuchi. Seriously, how did I ever end up here? I don't remember...

[She pauses, confused. Taking a deep breath, Tsubaki readjusts her clothes and pulls up her hood. When she reaches for her mask, she realizes it's not around.] Great, don't tell me I lost it! I sincerely hope that is not the case. [She shakes her head]

In any case, I don't have time to be lost. Because of....whatever reason...I'm now here and have completely lost sight of Noel. [Her frown deepens and she looks angry]

I will fulfill my duty as a member of the NOL and see this mission to it's completion, to that I'm sure.

Sample Entry Two:
Silently, Tsubaki made her way around Kagutsuchi looking for her targets. Well, she didn't want to think of them as targets, no matter what they were still her very dear friends. Why they had chosen her to do this. The Yayoi and Kisaragi families were always close, surely they knew... But perhaps it was because of the Izayoi? Tsubaki sighed at the thought, she didn't like the idea of killing two people very close to her. She had to complete her orders but...wasn't there some other way? Wasn't there a solution where she didn't have to kill them? Couldn't she just bring them back? Tsubaki sighed again, frustrated. She paused and adjusted her cloak when she heard something. Taking a quick look around, she couldn't find anyone and proceeded to look for either Jin or Noel. There was he noise again and this time, Tsubaki had an idea of where it was coming from. Quickly summoning Izayoi, Tsubaki dashed down the street and turned the corner into the alleyway, sword at the ready. Out of all the things she'd been suspecting, this one was not one of them. She froze at the sight of a young boy staring up at her in fear. It took Tsubaki a second to realize what was happening and as soon as she did, Izayoi disappeared again.

"Sorry. I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." The boy was still cowering on the ground, Tsubaki hastily removed her mask, realizing that it probably didn't help. It wasn't...frightening exactly (at least she didn't think so) but it wasn't exactly friendly either. She knelt down to the boy's level and offered her hand out. When the young boy took her hand, she gently smiled and nodded, pulling the boy up on his feet. She really hadn't meant to point the weapon at the boy, but she was on edge and automatically thought the noises she heard were from an enemy of some sort. When the boy didn't let go of Tsubaki's hand, she furrowed her eyebrows in confusion and tugged a bit. The boy only held on tighter. She wasn't sure of what to do, she'd never really been around children. She was an only child and anyone that she had been around was older than her. Her only experience was in the academy with Carl, but the boy was so mature for his age, it was almost as if he was as old as them.

"What's wrong?" Suddenly the little started crying. Internally, Tsubaki was almost panicking. She didn't know what to do, did she really scare him that bad? She apologized again, but he just shook his head and in a small voice told her that he was lost. Relieved that she wasn't the cause for his grief, Tsubaki gently patted the young boy's shoulder and told him she'd help him look for his guardian. The little boy nodded and loosened his grip just a bit on the young NOL officer. Deciding that the he probably needed the support, Tsubaki wrapped her fingers around his small hand and started walking around, determined to find the boy's parents. She knew that she was wasting time and that she could get in trouble, but she didn't have the heart to just leave the boy behind like that. When people needed her, Tsubaki tried her best to help. Nearly an hour later, they had made it to Ronin-Gai and the boy seemed to brighten up a bit. He recognized the place and explained to the Lieutenant that he lived here. It wasn't much longer before he ran into people he knew. It turned out that many of the children here were orphans after the Ikagura war. He had somehow lost his way and ended up far from home. Tsubaki smiled the children. Unexpectedly, the young boy was hugging her, his arms were around her hips and he thanked her, though it was muffled by the material of her cloak. To say she was surprised was an understatement but Tsubaki recovered quickly and patted the boy's head, telling him she was happy they found his home.

On her way out, Tsubaki sighed as she put her mask back into place. She'd used up a lot of time. Honestly, she wished she could just go back there and play with the children, to forget that she had this horrible duty to attend to. She didn't want to, but she had to. It was an order from the Imperator, after all.

2/2

[personal profile] teafail 2013-11-22 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)

Personality: Tetsu is a puppy. That’s the first thing to get out of the way; his bark is worse than his bite, he’s loud and energetic and always nipping at the heels of someone who ticks him off. Tetsu almost never runs out of steam; he keeps going and going until he’s completely exhausted himself--and sometimes even then he’ll just keep going until his own body gives out. His determination knows no bounds and once he has a goal in mind he works very hard to complete it. Case in point is the fact his main goal in life is to become stronger and avenge his parents’ murder, and he constantly works at improving his sword skills to get stronger.

His main problem is that he’s a very emotional boy who wears his heart on his sleeves. He gets mad easily, he cries easily, and he can sometimes blow up and fly completely off the handle if he’s riled up enough (which, as expected, is also very easy to do). He curses and flails, challenges people much stronger than him to fights he can’t possibly win all on the premise of defending his pride.

He is also a fiercely loyal young boy; for instance, despite his grumbling over Hijikata and how much he hates him, he doesn’t allow anyone else to badmouth the man and will defend his honor as best he can. He’s also loyal to both Yamazaki, whose sister he promised to teach how to have fun (he takes this duty very seriously) and Saya, who he frequently visits and protects (and seems very oblivious to her crush on him). Even Suzu, who has repeatedly tried to kill him later in the series, is not an exception, as Tetsu truly believes with all his heart that he can save the boy and they can still be friends. He’s stubborn and hard-headed about it, blindly charging forward with all the determination he can muster, and refusing to give up on his ideals.

Fire and ‘killing auras’ send him into a panic where he’ll completely shut down due to the trauma of being trapped in the closet and watching his parents being murdered as the house burned down around him. Because of this too the only way he can sleep comfortably is if he’s in a closet. If his PTSD is triggered too hard he will lock himself down in the closet and refuse to come out, biting and clawing like an animal at anyone who tries to come after him.

Despite his time seeing death, Tetsu remains fairly naive towards other areas, specifically towards romance and sex. He gets embarrassed and flustered easily when it comes to most girls, and doesn’t seem to understand what the purpose of a brothel is to be (he gets the offer to spend the night with Saya and he declines because he has other things to do and doesn’t understand why Hana’s so exasperated with it). He spends his time with Saya in the brothel playing games and talking with her.

Abilities/Powers: no special abilities! He’s still learning how to fight with a sword.
Items/Weapons: - One bloodied Shinsengumi Haori
- One short sword
- One wooden practice sword
Sample Entry: [The phone is flipped around a little, giving a dizzying view of the road, some buildings, the sky, and a flash of shockingly red hair before it settles on a young boy's face. He looks like he's no older than 9 or 10, mouth turned down in an aggravated frown. It's been too much time wasted asking random people for help on how to operate this stupid contraption to get it to work. Tetsu is not a happy puppy.]

Oy, whoever kidnapped me, who do you think you're messing with? You can't just kidnap me like that! I'm Ichimura Tetsunosuke of the Shinsen--

[He suddenly cuts himself off, grimacing. He's not supposed to go around just saying stuff like that.] Er... A-anyway, you better drop me back off in Kyoto right away! My master'll kick your ass. [He wonders if Hijikata's happy he's gone. He can just see the man throwing a party and getting tea that isn't spilled all over the floor and drinking to not having to deal with the brat that was Tetsu.

...He can't even get sad, just pissed that this imaginary party was going on
] Hey, Okit-- Er... Hiji-- Shin-- [Tetsu scowls, throwing his hands up in exasperation]

How am I supposed to look for anyone if I can't say their names!? [Angry now, he grips the phone] Tatsu! Is anyone here!?

Sample Entry Two: It was….difficult, to say the least. Not only had he ended up somewhere so different from his home that the level of “not funny” had looped around to being “almost absolutely hysterical,” but there were several different people here claiming to be members of the Shinsengumi. As if that wasn’t confusing enough, more than one person had claimed to be the same person.

It was impossible. He’d yelled and stomped his feet and pointed his fingers in peoples’ faces and told them to stop with the impostor-ing, but it hadn’t worked. They’d known too many things that only the real ones would know, the swords, the haori… Tetsu grit his teeth. But all of them were far too pretty to be the Shinsengumi he knew-- except Souji, who wasn’t nearly pretty enough. It was as if the entire world had turned upside down and backwards and Tetsu wasn’t sure which way was up.

So he’d done as any frustrated young boy would do-- he took to throwing rocks at the abandoned buildings peppering the land. Maybe he could find someone--not those impostors, for they were imposters no matter what they said--to help him with his sword. At the very least either beating someone up or getting a nice layer of fresh bruises and aches himself would be good for his sour mood.

He picked up a nice sized rock and tossed it for all he was worth… And let out a loud cry of protest and alarm when it swung wide of its mark. “Shit-- LOOK OUT!”

[personal profile] junebound 2013-11-22 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality:
Rika has two sides—one side is cute and innocent, and is the side she shows most people; while her other side, her true personality, is cynical and somewhat cold. She only shows her true self, however, around Hanyuu or when the situation calls for it, often choosing to put up her innocent act around most people.

The act Rika puts on most of the time is one of a sweet little girl. She’s always there to comfort those who need it, she’s polite, fairly quiet, and almost always has a smile on her face. Rika also uses cute words such as “nipaa” and “mii” when she speaks, which she often uses to her advantage to get others to do what she wants. All of these things together make people fall in love with her instantly, and immediately want to protect her. Although Rika may act like a child, that doesn’t mean she holds no responsibilities. She is the head of the Furude family, and is also the shrine maiden for Oyashiro, the deity that guards the village. Not only is Rika responsible for representing her family, but she also represents Oyashiro, often being referred to as the deity’s reincarnation.

She may be young and cute, but Rika is still very intelligent. While she may not be loud spoken, everyone is willing to listen to what she has to say due to the importance of all of her words and the quality of any advice she may give. Due to her intelligence, Rika is also very mischievous and knows how to get what she wants. When she’s is about to lose a game during a club activity, she will act upset and cute, distracting anyone who may win, and giving her a chance to win the game herself. Rika may have an air of innocence about her due to her cute personality, but she is not innocent enough to refrain from any perverted jokes or comments she may make.

Her intelligence comes from the fact that she has lived for over one hundred years, due to the many timelines she’s been through. From all of her experience, Rika knows just what to say to others, and how to get out of tight situations. When asked by the detective Ooishi why she was seen in the forest after her performance after the festival when she was really telling Tomitake about his death later that night, Rika was able to come up with a lie on the spot so Ooishi would stop questioning her.

Rika’s true personality is extremely cynical. After many years of being surrounded by death and chaos, Rika has lost her positive outlook on life and she feels as if nothing will turn out well. She often hides the truth from those around her so as not to frighten her friends, and for fear that no one will believe her. Due to the continuous time loops she’s been put through, Rika’s mind has matured while her body has not. However, she does not often present this side of herself because she doesn’t want to worry other people by suddenly acting completely different. The only person Rika feels comfortable being her true self around is Hanyuu. However, Rika will show this side to others when she is being completely serious or when she has decided that a fragment has become a dead-end and she begins to feel as if she's wasting her time. Her cynicism also causes her to have difficulty opening up to others; Rika has many secrets, and she hides them very well. If she can keep her friends from suffering from the knowledge she’s gained from repeating time and the reality that is her true self, she will do all she can to keep it from them. Due to this, for a long time, she was unwilling to tell her friends what was really going on, as she thought they would not believe her—another thing she struggles with.

She’s also much more mature and serious, dropping the cute phrases she normally uses and rarely smiling. While this side of Rika is also sly, she is much more obvious about it and crueler in her intentions. She often drinks alcohol and eat spicy foods when she is upset with Hanyuu just to fluster her, taking advantage of the fact that their senses are connected and that Hanyuu hates the taste of both. However, the alcohol also numbs her to the pain of reliving the same fate over and over while seeing her friends become unraveled and tear each other apart. Over the years, she's made a habit of drinking at night when Satoko is asleep just so she doesn't have to worry about her fate if only for a little while.

Rika’s true self is also much more outspoken than the side she presents to other people. She is also no longer polite, and will not hesitate to be cruel to others, especially when it comes to defending her friends. She also believes that no matter which Hinamizawa she ends up in, it will be a dead end. Rika will wait for her death, being bored by everything that happens, since she has been through all of it many times before, with the exception of the club meetings, which have always remained unpredictable. However, things began to change when Rika came across a world where her friends seemed to remember the past dead-end worlds.

Due to this, her friends were able to avoid their mistakes and they became set upon fixing things before they ended badly. Rika finally began to have hope—something she hadn’t had in many years. She began to believe that her fate could be defeated as she slowly began to let go of that tightly held on cynicism and made room for hope. While her cynicism has begun to finally fade, in the end, that world ended up being only a dead-end. Still, Rika has retained her hope from this last fragment, growing from it and regaining her determination to finally reach a good ending and living past June.

Abilities/Powers:
Rika's only real ability is that she's able to remember everything from the different fragments of Hinamizawa she's lived through, which is only possible with Hanyuu's power to reset time.

Items/Weapons:
-an extra set of clothes (her school uniform)
-photo of her friends taken during club activities

Sample Entry:
[It takes a few moments, but Rika manages to get the video working right and angled towards her. When she appears onscreen, there’s a slightly concerned look on her face.] Mii… I’m not sure where I am. This device is supposed to transmit video to others so that means I shouldn’t be the only one here, right?

[She knows there’s the possibility that she’s just talking to herself and that there’s no one out there listening, but it’s worth a shot either way.] I think I should start with introducing myself first.

[Rika adjusts the phone so that more of her face is visible.] My name is Rika Furude, and I’m from a small village named Hinamizawa. It’s very different from this place. [She pauses, and smiles.] It’s nice to meet you. Hopefully we can work together and find a way back home. [Satisfied with her message, she shuts off the feed.]

Sample Entry Two:
The desolate nature of Haven was such a stark contrast to Hinamizawa, and Rika wasn't sure it would ever be something she would get used to. The lack of life in the town was disconcerting, and the dilapidated state of most of the buildings even more so. Yet that didn't stop Rika from making her way into the abandoned elementary school, being careful to avoid any dangerous spots.

It'd been a few days already, and Rika was already restless. She was itching to go back home, back to Hinamizawa and every time she closed her eyes she hoped that she'd wake up to the familiar sound of cicadas. The memories of the last fragment were still fresh in her mind, and Rika was determined to find a way back so that the feelings lingering behind those memories would still be strong enough to give her the strength to push through and finally reach her good end.

Rika ran her fingers idly along one of the surface of one of the desks still standing, as she wondered what the school was like before it was abandoned. Her mind briefly wandered back to Hinamizawa, and the school there, which was much smaller than the one she was in now. The thought of her friends waiting back home sent a new wave of determination through her and she took one last look around the room, taking in every detail and making sure she didn't miss any important clues that may help take her back home. Unable to find anything else, she sighed, making her way outside and to her next destination—the middle school. Although she would probably yield the same results (which were a whopping nothing), it was still worth a try. After all, after everything she went through in the last fragment, she wasn't going to just sit back and accept her fate this time, not anymore.

[personal profile] polar 2013-11-22 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality:
Confident, brave, passionate, eager-- these are some of the more favorable words used to describe Korra. Since she was young, she's known she was the Avatar, the only person in the world able to bend (control) all four elements. She was able to demonstrate some degree of control over water, earth and fire, even at age four. This was a precursor of things to come, as she would eventually greatly excel in the physical aspects of bending, mastering the above three by the age of seventeen. Taking all of this into account, it's safe to say that Korra is used to having things come easily for her. Of course she practices and works for it, but there's always been a natural affinity for the martial arts side of it.

The above definitely translates into her character, as Korra is a very headstrong and direct type of person. Never one to wait for things, she's a go getter, often taking the initiative herself. This is demonstrated early on in the series when after learning that Tenzin cannot stay in the South Pole to teach her airbending, she sneaks away and follows him to Republic City so he can teach her there. These eager and impulsive traits, coupled with her hotheaded nature often have her clashing with, if not outright defying her authority figures. Tenzin, the Order of the White Lotus, her father, even Republic City's police and city council have had their fair share of Korra's defiant attitude, especially when she believes she has the right idea.

Despite her flippancy regarding authority and those with more experience, she really does mean well. All of her escapades and antics are usually fueled by her desire to help or learn or simply make Republic City, and later the world, a better place, though her methods sometimes do more harm than good. As someone stated, Korra can fail to see the big picture, only focusing on the problem in front of her at the time. Of course, as the series progresses, she does become slightly better in this area, not jumping the gun as much as she once did.

Although confident and strong, Korra does indeed possess a much more insecure and vulnerable side which she can hide with huffy remarks, angry words, and outright denial. In the past it dealt with her inability to connect to her past lives, her lack of progress with airbending, and her fear of losing her bending, as she was unsure what she would be without it. These thoughts were clearly demonstrated when she did have her bending taken. Korra was lost, and she felt worthless even though she just saved Republic City. Before Aang manifested and restored her abilities, she was very close to giving up completely. Having known she was the Avatar for as long as she can remember, it's fairly obvious that the teenager has stapled that as her identity, and beyond that, not much has been explored or needed to be in her mind. Though, with the help of her close friends, she is able to overcome these to a degree.

This portion of her character-- the lack of personal identity beyond the Avatar-- is later addressed in great magnitude during the Harmonic Convergence. After the Raava, the light spirit, was pulled from Korra and attacked, she felt her connections to her past lives shatter. Even after Raava was merged with her again, she discovered that she's unable to recover those connections and was greatly distressed. However, with some guidance from Tenzin, the world's need for her and her desire to fix things overcame the fear and uncertainty of lacking past wisdom. She eventually calmed down and looked within herself for power, finally finding it as well as her identity beyond the legacy of the Avatar. These revelations led to Korra making the momentous decision of keeping the spirit portals open, allowing spirits and humans to live together again. Despite no longer serving as the bridge between the human and spirit worlds, she is ready and well aware that she'll be needed to further serve the worlds, albeit in a different capacity, whatever that may be.

An interesting thing to note about her is that while her native element is water, fire seems to be her default element of choice, and when thought about, it makes sense. Fire is hot, sudden, fierce and explosive, all words that fit the young Avatar to a tee, thus making air the element she has trouble with. As air is free, calm, gentle, and the most spiritual element, Korra doesn't quite fit those descriptions enough to have an easy grasp on it.

As the Avatar, both of the last age and the new, she is now carrying a heavy burden with the opening of the spirit portals. A shift in the world is imminent, and while she's unable to see what lies ahead, Korra seems to stand ready to face it, not with the strength of past lives, but with the power she's found in herself.

Abilities/Powers: Wiki
Korra is the Avatar, the only person who's able to bend (control) all four elements: earth, fire, air, and water.

Water- Water was Korra's native element, thus the first one was instructed in. Having been taught by Katara, arguably the best waterbender in the world, she has learned a great deal. She can change ice to water to steam and any combination thereof, as well as changing its temperature. She can create tidal waves, water spouts, pockets of air when underwater, sheets of water thin enough to slice through objects, and numerous other feats. Additionally, she's also able to utilize waterbending's subcategories of healing and spiritual healing. Though unable to bloodbend, she is knowledgeable in its workings.

Earth- The second element Korra was taught was earth, which she mastered. She can control rocks and stones, dismantling or creating walls, shattering floors, gouging chucks of earth from the ground. There is a finer category known as metalbending, but Korra isn't able to perform it. Woe.

Fire- The third element Korra mastered was fire. This one seems to have come incredibly easy to her, and appears to be her most utilized. She can use fire to propel herself upwards like a rocket or help her run across a wall, breath fire if her arms and legs are held down, block an oncoming attack, and control it to a very fine degree. Her aptitudes with the lightning subcategory is unknown, so it'll be assumed she's incapable of using it.

Air- Hahaha, oh airbending. Korra stank at airbending at first. While she mastered the footwork, motions and theories, she was never able to actually use it until later in her training. When she did, it was sudden and out of desperation. Her movements and techniques are supposed to be fluid and light. However, her personality and style have taken over, leaving her airbending short and sharp, similar to her style of firebending. Over time, she adapts a bit, mastering the higher level techniques of air spouts and air scooters.

Additionally, she's in mastery of Energybending, a technique only available to spirits or the Avatar. This allows her to remove or grant another person bending, as well create an astral projection of herself, large enough to walk in the ocean like a kiddie pool.

Aside from bending and Avatar stuff, she's a great hand to hand combatant, a quick and strategic thinker, physically strong, and potentially adept at taming animals. (She was the first person to tame a Polar bear dog).

Sample Entry: Test Post
Sample Entry Two:
Korra jumped up high, dodging a blast of fire as her opponent pulled his hand back, readying to shoot another. From the air, she could get a better read on his movements and find an opening. The firebender looked up to see where she was, and-- there! A misstep in his footwork was exactly what she needed.

Now, time seemed to slow. She could see his expression change when he saw her smirk, he knew something was about to happen. One of her hands went behind her, balling into a fist, ready to shoot off a stream of flame. It would serve as more than enough propulsion to send her rocketing towards her opponent. The other hand stayed by her side prepared to attack once she was close enough.

Surging forward, a stream of thoughts went through her mind. The foremost one was simply how amazing it was: the feeling of bending and combat exhilarated her. She felt the adrenaline coursing through her veins, giving her that giddy feeling she always loved. The first time she remembered feeling it was awe inspiring. Subsequent occasions were no different, and this one wasn't either.

The thought that followed was a quick one. She was good at bending, and she knew it. Her confidence gave her strength and unnerved her opponents. It was a weapon in itself, one she often utilized. The masters likely saw it as overconfidence or haughtiness, but Korra knew better. Faith in her own strength was all it was, nothing more.

Lastly, she was ready. Ready to take on the world, ready to introduce herself, ready to be the Avatar. Sure, she'd felt this way before, but at that stalled moment, it was the most intense the feeling had ever been. Korra wouldn't let people talk her out of it this time. Ignoring it wouldn't make it go away, it would only strengthen it. Now it was time to put an end to this and show them.

Five feet from the ground, she cut off the stream of fire behind her, quickly taking aim with both hands at the man's feet. Red hot flames shot from her fists, scorching the earth below her as she was kept airborne from the sheer force she was exerting.

The match was hers, and at that moment, so was the world.

Personality:
The first thing you notice about Lily is her radiant smile. It goes well with her personality – childish, cheerful, and with a mentality that’s seemingly not a day older than that of a ten-year-old’s. She doesn’t seem to have a care in the world, saying things arbitrarily and without consequence, not even thinking of other’s reactions and feelings as she simply spills what’s on her mind. To put it simply, she is a blunt and honest child, the way only a child can be. It’s shown by the fact that she matter-of-factly tells Reim, her supposed ‘enemy’ and an enemy of the Baskervilles, her entire back-story and pretty much vital information about the existence about the Baskervilles without even thinking twice on it. From this, we can also glean that she has poor judgment skills and doesn’t necessarily understand strategic purpose, especially in terms of information. Like a typical child, she rarely plans for the future and takes each day and moment as it comes, enjoying it the way only a child can.

There is not a single deceiving bone in her body – rather, she is fully true to herself and is rather proud of that. This means that while she’s a murderess, she is fully comfortable with the fact, and doesn’t hesitate to consider it in a matter-of-fact manner. This can also be attributed to the fact that she doesn’t seem to fully understand the value or the meaning of a life—when a life ends, it’s just another toy breaking. She’d be said, but only for the value of playtime lost. On the other hand, she knows all-too-well that those around her die easily, and she doesn’t kid herself in terms of how much of a danger she is to everyone else. She knows she’s dangerous! Despite the fact that she throws death threats around like conversation fillers, she is very much aware of the danger she poses to others. She also accepts the fact that others will dislike and fear her for it. It’s just that there’s the lonely part of her that is uncomfortable with this fact, and still tries to reach out anyway.

However, because of the fact that she fully accepts herself the way she is, she has a very healthy self-esteem. While she grew up believing that she should have never been born – that she was only a liability to her family and was better off dead – her time with the Baskervilles changed that, to the point in which she takes pride in who she is and her role by Glen’s side. Because of the kindness of the Baskervilles and the fact that they took her in when the world shunned her aside, she has a surprisingly fierce sense of loyalty compared to other children her age. It’s because of her sad and lonely past that she understands kindness and bonds better than anyone—especially friendship. She’s the kind of character that treasures her family above all else, and has a childish but stubborn resolve to protect them and carry out their wishes at all cost. She’s rather single-tracked minded when it comes to that, just like how a child is. Oftentimes, she will go to rather extreme lengths for the people she cares about and loves. For example, her loyalty towards the Baskervilles convinced her to participate in the massacre of Sablier, and her subsequent being thrown into the Abyss. A hundred years later, her loyalty towards the person who took her in continues to motivate her, and she like the other Baskervilles strive to find him.

She carries no pretenses. She takes absolutely everything at face value, in the way that she knows that sometimes, people carry pretenses, and sometimes, people patronize her for being a child. To her, that’s just what people do—there’s no ‘right’ and no ‘wrong’ to the way other people act. Therefore, she rarely judges people for acting the way they do. The scariest part of her character is that she doesn’t make a distinction between ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, though she readily makes a distinction between ‘evil’ and ‘good’. For example, she doesn’t think killing people wantonly and letting Bandersnatch, her Chain, feed on innocents is ‘wrong’, but she readily thinks Vincent is evil for bullying her.

She gets along with others well, is easily excitable and is constantly looking for new friendships and fun activities. That being said, if Glen were to order for their execution, she would do so with a smile on her face. It’s clear in her mind that the hierarchy of relationships goes Glen > Baskervilles > Everyone else, though those contracted with Chains rank higher than those who do not, simply because those who are contracted can offer Bandersnatch a playmate. This also links to the playful part of her personality—she gets bored easily, and because of her young age, she should theoretically be used to others putting her needs before their own. However, her acceptance for people actually recognizing her needs is something that has only emerged recently. When she was much younger, and for the better part of her life, she only knew neglect from her family, who held the ideal that the small and weak are useless. While she has turned that idea around by being one of the most vibrant characters in the series, it’s safe to say that she is also used to being neglected, and despite her small and cute demeanor, she is used to being independent and fighting for herself. It’s just that ever since she fell in with the Baskervilles, the novelty of people taking care of her has really influenced her dependency on other people. Therefore, it’s probably very easy for her to be lonely.

Despite her cheerful demeanor, however, Lily gets upset very easily. She dislikes betrayal, anger and people who hurt her friends. However, because of her warped up-bringing, she has a lot of trouble expressing her sadness and anger in a healthy manner, and usually doesn’t know what to do in situations where her chest burns up and tears start to overwhelm her eyes. In situations like that, she resorts to killing—betray her friendship, and she will kill you. Hurt her, and she will kill you. Kill her friend, and she will kill you. It’s not necessarily because she thinks killing is the solution to all problems (though that’s, in part, what she does believe in), but more so because she honestly just doesn’t know a better way of solving problems that she doesn’t know how to solve. In this, you can see she has very poor problem-solving skills. Even beyond that, she’s rather emotionally stunted. She cries a lot—it’s what she does, and after she kills, she generally feels regretful. But this is a problem that she’s only viscerally aware of, and doesn’t have the means to fix.

Everything, when brought together, pretty much points to the fact that she is a very lonely child with an unrealistic view of the world that she protects fiercely. She loves her friends and cherishes them like family, but can’t deal with stress and anger in a healthy manner. She is violent and terrifying, but also cheerful and a moodmaker. She can be morbid, but in the way all children can be morbid without actually knowing the true impact of her words, and when it comes to problems, she just isn’t fit for thinking about difficult things beyond a surface-level of understanding.

In the end, it’s not to say that Lily is stupid. It’s just to say that she isn’t very bright. But her heart is generally in the right place (left of her chest and whatnot) and she does have the manners to match her dresses, but all in all, she is but a young girl who wants to make friends.

There is a ruthless side to her, but you certainly wouldn’t like to meet it. After all, it’s best to think of her as nothing more than a harmless little girl, and that’s all, isn’t it?

It’s just to say that she kills with a smile.

Abilities/Powers:

Chain—a biological weapon created in the ‘Abyss’. They usually take on animalistic forms, and are stored in the contractors’ bodies when they’re not in use. You can take in a Chain by forming a Contract with it. It’s hinted in the manga that it’s the end product of a human’s fall into the abyss – the power of the abyss warps the person into a Chain and that Chain will later go forth into the world to contract with other humans in exchange for ‘power’, and devour others. They usually offer the human a chance to change the past, though it’s unknown if they truly have that power.

Contract—essentially, it’s what connects a Chain to a person. Those who form a Contract with a Chain are called ‘Contractors’. There are two types of Contracts—the Legal Contract and the Illegal Contract. The Legal Contract is weaker than the Illegal Contract, but it doesn’t carry the side-effects of the Illegal Contracts, which are horrifying in their own right. The Contractor captures the Chain’s blood by storing it in a small mirror, and this is what binds the two. The Contractor experiences a few side-effects—such as slowed aging, but otherwise remains unchanged. An Illegal Contract is a Contract that happens outside of Pandora’s jurisdiction (Pandora being the governing force in Pandora Hearts). The Illegal Contractor drinks the blood of the Chain during the forming of the Contract. The Contract is then stronger, but in return, a clock seal appears on the Contractor’s chest. When the clock seal completes one revolution, the Contractor is dragged down into the Abyss with the Chain.

The Abyss—the Pandora Heart’s rendition of hell-in-a-handbasket. It’s a disjointed world where Chains come from. It’s controlled by the Will of the Abyss. Once upon a time, the Abyss was a golden land, almost a paradise, really, but something changed that caused it to warp into what it became today.

Canonly, Lily is contracted to a Chain called Bandersnatch. It’s known that she probably holds an Illegal contract with this Chain. However, as Lily is a part of the Baskerville family, she is a true inheritor of the contract, and therefore, though her contract with Bandersnatch is Illegal in nature, she doesn’t suffer the side effect of being dragged down into the Abyss.

Bandersnatch takes the form of a large, black dog-like creature with glowing eyes and snippets of shadow-like material floating from strategic locations of his limbs. He has large claws and larger teeth. He is also the size of a grown man—though it seems that he’s able to change his size marginally to suit the occasion. Putting him next to Lily is almost comical, because he dwarfs his Contractor like nothing else.

While the true abilities of Bandersnatch are still unknown, he does have a penchant to kill whenever he feels like it. While he has a level of mild disobedience to him, he seems to act as the role of Lily’s pet dog – not without his moments of killing urges, but who listens to Lily like the little dog he is. He is capable of killing with claw and tooth and has a certain element of superhuman speed to him. He is also able to disappear and appear at will at Lily’s whims. It’s unknown if he truly has a personality beyond the basics of hunger for flesh that all Chains sport.

In terms of Lily’s abilities that are separate from her Chain—she’s a member of the Baskervilles. Her connection to the Baskervilles is something that’s stronger than just a simple affiliation—she is a Baskerville. It’s said that a Baskerville is actually closer to being a Chain than a human, and it’s exhibited by Lily’s supernatural powers. On top of her Chain, she has very quick regenerative abilities that allow her to stand up almost immediately after getting shot in the head (the younger the Baskerville, the more powerful the regenerative properties). She also poses faster-than-normal reflexes. She’s nigh immortal, and aside from powers that are designed specifically to destroy the things that come from the Abyss (ie. Break’s Chain, The Mad Hatter, and possible Oz’s ‘Chain’, The Bloody Black Rabbit), she doesn’t seem capable of dying. In game, this would translate to being far more sturdy than your usual little girl, with a penchant for standing up after getting shot in the head. However, if she sustains too much damage, she will die.

It stopped!

[the most distress, guys. abruptly, the face is replaced with what appears to be a small girls’ hand. Within, there appears to be a laser-pointer, dirty and worn from disuse. it rolls between fingers, almost despondent. reiteration--] It stopped! The light stopped!

[this is almost said with heartbreak. anguish, in the only way a child can portray it.] I think I broke it!

But I was only playing with it! I didn’t mean to… I was only playing with it just a little bit. I didn’t even smash it! I was really careful! And then it just stopped!

[here’s the sudden realization--]

… But if it’s broken, then I can’t play with it anymore, so--!

I need to find a fixer who can fix things! There has to be someone like that, right? -- Mister Fixer, I’ll be really good, so please come and help me, okay?

Sample Entry Two:

She walked alone, sometimes. Sometimes, she didn’t. Sometimes, there was a large black dog by her side, whom she sometimes threw balls for so he could fetch them back and pretend to wag his tail and she would laugh because it was fun. Well, fun to her, anyway. Bandersnatch never complained, so she figured that it must be fun to him as well, only in a different sense of the word. He was a Chain, after all, and Chains probably had different ideas for fun, but the general ideas must be the same. Fun was fun, no matter how you cut it, and so he must too be having fun, and she could enjoy that.

The place was a weird place, she had to admit. It was full of nice people, though, people willing to be her friends – people willing to lend a hand when she asked for it, and people who laughed and cried and lived and died – and she could really appreciate that. Especially the games. There were people here who would play with her, and she was looking forward to playing with them again. She wondered if there were any who would play with knives with her. Vincent did, but Vincent liked to flick things on her forehead, and Fang wasn’t here to hold her up on his shoulders and keep her out of the way of flying chess pieces.

She wanted to be held up on someone’s shoulders again.

It was hard, missing her other friends – but she couldn’t be gloomy here! After all, this had to be a part of Glen’s scenario, and she must have fun while she’s at it. And so, she must make more friends and find a way back so she can tell Fang and Doug and Lottie all about her fun adventures here. And to be able to do that, she must have fun adventures.

And so she walked alone in search of someone else to walk with, for all adventures must start with two.

After all, it was just like a fairy tale, wasn’t it?
