Applications Two

APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED!
The next application opening date is Friday 16th January, 7pm EST.
The next application processing date is Friday 23rd January, 7pm EST.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.

While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

To see what we are looking for:
Canon Characters:
Sample Application (Faith Lehane)
Sample Application (Iroh)

Original Characters:
Sample Application (Mors)
Sample Application (Vera de Barr)
Sample Application (Malkus Iverwelling)

yatagarasu: (NINJA ☄ jammin' like one)

[personal profile] yatagarasu 2014-01-02 02:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality:
Kay is a cheerful girl with an indomitable spirit, always smiling, cracking jokes, or simply poking fun at the situation at hand. In fact, she can poke fun at almost anything, which leads people to wonder whether or not she's taking serious things as seriously as she should - and which can become annoying. Sometimes her discussions can veer off course, such as while examining evidence or a crime scene. She'll wonder about topics she stumbles upon, or even try to tie everything she says or does to being a thief, but more on that later. With her level of eagerness, she is always ready to try anything, to jump into any situation with her eyes closed - which, of course, can do more harm than good. Kay can be impulsive and easily distracted, but she'll try to get back to business. As for her impulses...well, there are certain things that can trigger them and blind her to reason, leading her into trouble. While she is smart and can catch on to plot developments, she tends to not think things through as thoroughly as she should, and of course, will need a little push and some explanations. Cleverness and resourcefulness do not necessarily make one a genius, after all.

As the Yatagarasu, Kay takes her role very seriously. She is driven by the pursuit of justice and upholds the ideals her father did when he was the first Yatagarasu. Because of her great confidence in her goals and the nobility of her title, she does not hesitate to introduce herself as a Great Thief even within earshot of detectives, Interpol agents and prosecutors. And if anyone freaks out upon realizing that a thief is in their midst, Kay is quick to explain that she only steals the truth. Although of course, as many of her jokes center around her stealing something or another as well as the appraisal of the monetary value of certain items, it can be hard to tell whether she's still pulling your leg or if she really has her eye on other things besides the truth. But during the course of the game, Kay really doesn't make off with anything, not even evidence within her reach. She'll claim to have stolen lines, roles, poses, speaking styles and tactics, though, and emphasize that her only target is the truth. Besides, she hasn't exactly gone on a heist of her own yet, denoting that she still has a long way to go to become truly great as she makes the Yatagarasu out to be. However, her bravery is one thing to be commended; she must certainly be aware of the dangers a vigilante will be facing after finding out that her father was one, yet she chose to carry on the legacy as the second Yatagarasu. Even after her life was in jeopardy at one point, she showed no signs of turning in her three-legged raven badge.

But even as a thief, Kay has certainly done her part in solving two criminal cases (three if we include the case seven years ago where she was, in a manner of speaking, a victim but still wanted to help investigate after having a good cry). Despite her hyper attitude, she's more than willing to lend a hand with a smile on her face and a little wit, and will do her best to keep up with the flow of the investigation. While Kay's logic may not be as sound and leaves a lot to be desired, she certainly tries and has her own eureka moments. Unlike the stereotypical lone wolf thief, she sticks by her friends and colleagues, finding ways to keep the pursuit of the truth going. Despite her friendly demeanor and her generally cheery disposition, Kay does not necessarily get along with everyone. Some people may find her annoying, nosy and getting in the way, but that doesn't stop her. For example, she insisted on tagging along with Miles Edgeworth on his investigation of a kidnapping case despite his attempts to keep her away, supposedly for her own good, but in the end helped him solve the case. Not only that, whenever people are down on their luck and are on the verge of giving up, Kay is often that perky voice that urges people to keep moving forward, as she herself does the same.

She has been through a lot in the past, but Kay doesn't let that get in the way of her present - with the exception of that one moment when she wanted to confront her father's murderer and ended up being held hostage momentarily. A classic example of impulse overriding reason.

Abilities/Powers:
Kay is physically fit enough to run fast (she can certainly outrun a man nine years older than she is), jump down from considerable heights (higher than she is, like those lockers in The Kidnapped Turnabout) and land properly without hurting herself. She has also mentioned a fondness for the dropkick (and she has delivered one in canon at the age of ten), suggesting that she can probably defend herself should the need arise, albeit crudely. At the very least, she has the tenacity for defense.

Besides her athleticism, she's also got a few mental tricks up her sleeve as well. Kay can pull off a bluff when she has to and keep up with logical deductions made during investigations - although sometimes she'll need a foothold or two along the way and definitions of those big words. While she's no genius, she's clever enough to figure out some ways to make use of her surroundings and available resources to her advantage if she puts her mind to it. Well, one would have to be pretty smart to operate Little Thief, a portable device that can create holographic simulations of people, items and places with the correct data input. From that, one can assume Kay has, at least, a good hand with technology and gadgets.

She also likes to mimic people at times; she can be pretty good at it.

However, Kay's impulsive nature gets in the way of her competence as an assistant and a thief, and potentially places her in danger. She is prone to blurting out in front of anyone and everyone that she's a thief and that she would like to steal something or other, and likely to suddenly run off in pursuit of any suspicious thing or person. At times, she says statements that don't quite make sense, like comparing a ceiling fan with a crib mobile and mistakenly believing that the latter spins babies around like a record baby, right round, and can't resist associating everything and anything with thievery as much as possible. Kay isn't a genius and sometimes needs a leg up when piecing clues together, and can push her jokes and silliness a bit too far before actually buckling down and getting down to business. She does not seem to have any definite or debilitating fears that make her cut and run, but that in itself can be a weakness as she is more likely to get herself into trouble without thinking things through or listening to others.

Items/Weapons: Her bag will contain a camera, a box of matches, and Little Thief. I'd like to know if Little Thief can work in this setting.

Sample Entry:

[When the video starts, you can see a cheery young girl, waving and smiling.]

Okay, you know how we can't write or anything in this place, right? Well, we shouldn't let Haven get the better of us! As the Great Thief Yatagarasu, I won't be beaten by a silly beat-up creepy town! [Her expression is certainly confident, and she flashes a thumbs-up.] I steal the truth, and I will have my truth even if I can't write it down!

[Kay starts snapping her fingers one, two, three, four times. Is she beginning to sing? Maybe! Her singing voice is nothing special but at least she tries to remain on-key - the keyword being "try". Heh. Keyword. Did you see what I did there.]

Ohhhhh, we don't have indoor plumbing so we gotta use a well,
And there are killer plants on top of the apartment, can't you tell?

We could make up ditties or jingles we sing to ourselves each morning! Or maybe every other morning will do. We can arrange the furniture in code, save empty cans and old wire and that kind of stuff to make patterns with...see? Maybe having no writing isn't that bad!

[A thoughtful pause. Her expression falters and she sighs.]

Too bad this means no comics. Unless we just used drawings to illustrate what go in the speech bubbles. We could have a comic within a comic, then...

Sample Entry Two:

Kay was nearly blinded when she opened the door at the top of the winding staircase that she had decided to explore. And why shouldn't she explore it? Not only could it possibly have some clues (because clearly mysterious staircases led up to rooms with answers), but she also just couldn't pass up the thrill of something new. Besides, recently it had gotten boring, just scavenging for food and figuring out new ways to remember information, seeing as they couldn't write or type text messages. That was probably the weirdest thing about this place...it was almost as if they didn't want people to amass information about Haven.

When her vision cleared, she saw a garden. A real, green, growing garden bathed in the summer sun. There was a stream that seemed to go over the edge, with several bridges over it. So engrossed was she with this new development that she almost didn't notice the plants. Almost.

There were bright red poppies not far off, some trees...but there were plants that seemed to have faces, what looked like pink flowers with tendrils comparable to tongues, and plants that looked like they belonged more in a mad scientist's laboratory than a garden as beautiful as this. Kay tentatively stepped out from the threshold of the door, observing them, distantly realizing that her pace had become slow and quiet, and her eyes darted this way and that. So much for beauty; even this place had been turned into Creepville thanks to the weird plants.

So far, so good. But when she saw some of the vines near her beginning to move on their own - wriggling instead of being blown by an unseen wind - she opened her mouth to gasp, but stuffed her fist into her mouth to keep from being heard, doubled back as quickly as she could, and strode back toward the door. Kay couldn't take any chances, even in a seemingly harmless garden like this (hence the "seemingly"). While this didn't mean she wouldn't be back, maybe she could bring some reinforcements next time. Or weapons.

Ellie | The Last of Us | Unreserved

Name: Umi
Contact Info: PM or ledasumi@plurk
Other Characters Played: None

Character Name: Ellie
Canon: The Last of Us
Canon Point: Shortly after the end of the game
Background/History: The Last of Us | Ellie

Personality: “Hey asshole!”

Ellie is a young girl, but well matured beyond her age. She is incredibly strong-willed, tough as nails, and generally able to keep her emotions hidden in situations where many adults might crumble. The only kicker to that is that Ellie generally conceals her emotions with anger and snarkiness, which is inclined to put her into even deeper trouble. When in captivity, Ellie refuses to bend to her captor’s demands, resisting and insulting him all along the way and even going so far as breaking his finger. Ellie is fiercely headstrong and determined. She was pulled onto a meat-butching table and almost had her arm chopped off and she was still fighting and biting.

In better, less threatening situations, Ellie just distracts herself by trying to be happy. She likes to make jokes and have fun, like any other kid. She even has a book of puns that she likes to read to lighten the mood, even if she doesn’t really understand all of them.

But despite how mature she may seem and all that she has gone through, Ellie is still a child at heart and it shows through plenty of times. For instance, her propensity to disobey most orders, and especially those issued by people she simply does not like. She likes to read comics and gets into fights easily and has the curiosity of a child. Like most children and most people, Ellie is also afraid of being alone. As she angrily tells Joel, everyone Ellie has ever gotten close to has either died or left her.

Ellie is still in part dealing with survivor’s guilt, without even really knowing it. She doesn’t know that that’s the term for it, anyway. With so many people having died around her (many times as a result of the infection), Ellie feels an incredible responsibility to contribute all she can to finding its cure. Especially considering she has an immunity to it.

There are two relationships that are more important than anything for Ellie: the one with Joel, her guardian and pseudo-father, and her late mother.

Ellie sees Joel as a father, simple as that. As abrasive as he might have been at the start, he seemed like a good guy for the most part and he protected her. Ellie in turn protected him (when she could), and after spending a year with him it makes sense for her to have gotten terribly attached. When Joel is severely injured, Ellie does everything she can to care for him. Joel is the person Ellie cares for and loves most in her world, and for him Ellie is willing to do almost anything.

Secondly is Ellie’s mother, a person she didn’t even know in life. Ellie’s mother died a day after she was born, but she’d still go on to become a strong influence for Ellie. After receiving the letter from her mother, Ellie still feels a connection to her, and a responsibility to her mother to make her proud. To that end, she’ll always try to do what she thinks would make her mother proud. The figure of her mother is something of a moral compass to Ellie and, although she didn’t know her mother, Ellie thinks of her as being a good person, and tries to do what a good person would do.

As willing as Ellie might be to kill someone who’s a threat to her or Joel or someone she loves, she isn’t okay with killing people, and act of having done it so many times weighs heavily on her at times.

Abilities/Powers:
Ellie is mostly a normal human being. She possesses immunity, or at least a resistance, to the cordyceps parasite that has infected most of mankind on Ellie’s earth. She also has excellent hearing.

She has proven time and time again to be capable of holding her own. She’s had extensive practice with a number of firearms and has fairly good aim with them all. Mostly pistols and rifles, although she’s capable of using a bow and arrow. Her aim with things like bricks and glass bottles is also good. Objects that have that sort of weight to them.

For most of a winter, Ellie managed to take care of herself, a near-dead Joel, and a horse. She managed to sew up a puncture wound on top of gathering food and water for them all. She doesn’t have perfect survival skills, though. She is still easily tracked, not that she isn’t probably capable of covering up her tracks, but rather she doesn’t have the presence of mind to be aware of having do something like that. Likewise, when she’s focused on holding one person at gunpoint, she doesn’t notice when another person sneaks up on them.

Physically speaking, Ellie has an above average strength for her size, but that still isn’t saying very much at all. Although she can defend herself, when it comes to actual physical altercations, Ellie is very easily overpowered. If grappled without some weapon she can use to break free, there are few options she has aside from struggling and hoping that being bitten will get her assailant to release her.

Items/Weapons: Switchblade, Pistol, Backpack
Sample Entry: Here
Sample Entry Two:
Ellie made her way to the top of one of the buildings in Haven, with all her usual things and the addition of a ratty old guitar. It was a miracle that all the strings hadn’t already broken, but they’d managed to fix up the ones that were still there and replace the missing ones. Considering where she was and pretty much her entire life up until that point, the guitar was nice.

She pulled a cinderblock towards the edge of the building, but not too close. Just close enough that Ellie could see completely over the side and look out over her shitty new home. Ellie liked being high up. She liked being able to see everything, even if it wasn’t always pretty. She sat down on her block and set the guitar on one leg. She spent a moment fiddling with the placement of her fingers on its neck and then spent a moment plucking at each string. Joel had finally been giving her the lessons he promised her after some extensive badgering and reminding him of it, so she was out here practicing.

Ellie loved music. As she started to play the song she’d practiced with Joel, she hummed along in place of the lyrics that she didn’t fully remember, and idly wondered what kind of music her mother would have liked to hear.

johnny joestar // jojo's bizarre adventure // not reserved

[personal profile] galloping 2014-01-03 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:

Johnny Joestar was a horse riding genius. A prodigy. He won the Kentucky Derby at sixteen years old and felt like he was on top of the world. Fame and praise, love and admiration, all were thrown his way. And that can inflate an ego like nothing else. Riding on it like a hot air balloon, he developed a nasty sense of pride and conceitedness. Using it to get his way without regards to those around him, in the end, it's the very thing that took away all the praise and respect he loved so much. One bullet to the spine, and no one cared about him or his former glory anymore.

That did no favors for his personality. Bitter, alone, and feeling his soul was actually dying, Johnny didn't really learn much humility. If anything, it might have made him more harsh. As he goes to watch the Steel Ball Run start, and when he meets Gyro, he can be seen pushing others aside rather forcefully to get where he wishes to be. There are few people that Johnny treats with actual and obvious respect, and he doesn't really lament over that fact. He will respect the people that deserve it. Period, the end.
He can also be incredibly nasty, especially to people like Diego, who he left with serious injuries with no remorse whatsoever. To his credit, Diego is a pretty shitty guy, but, as Gyro says: "Where's your compassion?"

Johnny is an incredibly forceful person who's stubbornness is an amazing sight. After feeling his legs 'move' during his first meeting with Gyro, Johnny swear he will follow him in the Steel Ball Run. In a flash, Johnny bought a horse and, despite his inability to walk, began to try and tame it. Through the entire night, he attempted to mount it, being trampled and having a piece of wood pierce his leg in the process. Not giving up there, he followed to the starting line, holding onto the stirrup with one hand. While on the ground, he swore to Gyro if he didn't catch up in the Steel Ball Run, he would find him someday just to learn more about the steel balls and the spin. Johnny doesn't let things die, be it personal promises or grudges (as seen with Diego), and will do whatever he can to follow through with them. He has an incredible sense of determination in what he does, often showing a "dark will": the capability to kill others if it is needed in a situation.

Johnny is not an all around bad guy, in fact he can be pretty well mannered if he chooses to be. And he's not a terrible friend, in fact, he's pretty loyal to those he likes. For someone like Gyro, he sacrificed his new found reason to live: the Corpse Parts. It brought him to tears, but he wasn't about to let his friend die. He even gave his own life to save his future wife and child. He cares a great deal for the people he's close to in life, enough to give anything for them.

But, even to friends like Gyro, his tone can be incredibly sharp and biting. Johnny is a heavy user of dry sarcasm, and it's his number one combatant against Gyro's weird sense of humor, not that Gyro picks up on it. Basically, if Johnny tells you how "awesome" or "really cool" something you did was, chances are, he didn't think it was very awesome or cool at all. He thought it was stupid. Really, really stupid. Not much humors Johnny and it's hard to get him to even smile. Which has to do a lot with past events. Even before the shooting, Johnny had plenty to be upset about, carrying around emotional baggage for years: namely, placing blame on himself for the untimely death of his own brother. Add a lovely dose of a father who questioned why he didn't die instead, and you have a guy who has a lot of loneliness and sadness bundled up. But, you can take pride if you ever manage to make him smile, because it's most likely completely genuine.

Johnny is a kid who just wants to feel alive again after everything was taken from him. Johnny met a guy that could teach him things that made him feel worthy and alive again. Johnny found something to fight for and live for. And that's his adventure.

Abilities/Powers:

Johnny has a couple of abilities, and they work really well together. The most important is his Stand, Tusk. Explaining Stands is a little difficult, and it would be impossible to go through all the rules Stands normally have (it's a very long list), but it's essentially a manifestation of a person's psyche and will power. They come in all shapes, sizes, and abilities, and are Very Cool. The thing about Stands, though, is that they can only be seen by Stand Users like Johnny. There are some exceptions, but the rule is pretty solid. So, if a non-Stand user (which is pretty much everyone at Haven) were to see Johnny doing Stand stuff, it'd just look like spooky paranormal ghost happenings.

Johnny's Stand was brought forth by the Corpse Parts that are residing in Johnny's body. It's an interesting stand with a neat ability: it allows Johnny is shoot his fingernails. That might seem a little weak, but that's where Johnny's next ability come in. Thanks to Gyro's teachings, Johnny can use something known as The Spin. It uses momentum and the mathematical principle of the Golden Rectangle to give projectiles a "spin", or a powerful spiraling effect. Coupled with Tusk, it allows Johnny to "move" the damage by his fingernail bullets around and seek out targets. Johnny can do this ten times, but after that, his fingernails have to grown back, which takes awhile.

Items/Weapons: His wheelchair and the Spine Corpse Part (in his lower back).

Sample Entry Two:

He doesn't remember the ceiling of the hotel being this shabby. He also doesn't remember being in a room with this many beds.

With a quick shove on the mattress beneath him, he forces himself into the sitting position. This is strange, and that's saying a lot for the positions that Johnny has been in. He looks down at himself. There are no wounds. He specifically remembers being wounded. That's not something he would forget, not after that shoot-out he went through.

"A Stand...?" he mumbles to himself, trying to figure out his sudden healing as he looks towards the window. He can't see any of the large buildings, so they're definitely not in the same place, he can figure that much. He looks around his room. There are others in it, but no Gyro. He feels himself start to sweat a little, and then raises his voice slightly.

"Look, can any of you tell me what town I'm in? And have any of you seen Gyro Zeppeli?" he says his name like it'd be completely normal for them to recognize it. After all, they are in the wildly documented Steel Ball Run race, why wouldn't they know about Gyro at least? There's no reason whatsoever, unless they're all complete shut ins, Johnny figures.

[personal profile] gracefuldance 2014-01-03 09:46 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:
A dancer from the country Ferox who has natural talent for what she does and been known to help excite the soldiers and give them a boost. Despite the fact she is a well-known dancer, Olivia has stage fright and can get flustered and nervous about her dancing easily. She does her best when she dances though because she enjoys being able to make people smile. Their happiness is important to her and it's the reason she's able to keep on dancing.

When she dances, Olivia can be a very different person. While it's hard for her to dance in front of people when it's in private, when she is on the battlefield it takes her only a few seconds to be able to dance. It's like a switch and that's all she focuses on when she is out there. She stands up tall and has a lot of pride in her dancing, along with proud with what she can do, but the seconds she stops it's the complete opposite. Maribelle described her as a 'bashful mess of insecurities' when this happens. It's normally when she dances off the battlefield or someone watches her practice without permission.

She's very shy and can quickly become withdrawn from people, again becoming flustered and nervous when talking to people. Most of the time she believes she does something embarrassing and wants to run away. It's easy for her to become quiet and not talk very easily to people. Once Olivia is able to become friends with someone, she is able to talk to them a lot easier without becoming scared or shy. There are a few exceptions of when she's not shy and talking to a stranger, and that is when she's standing up for something she believes in. There was also the time when she though Henry was planning to kill an animal, where she quickly acted and told him off.

One of Olivia's problems is how she can be quite self-efficacy and have very little belief in her abilities. Even though she is known as one of the best dancers, Olivia believes she still has a lot to learn and and isn't a good dancer until she's able to captive everyone. At times she can be clumsy and often she'll become embarrassed because of it, causing her to become even clumsy. It's probably one of the reasons why she becomes shy and stops dancing when someone spots her. She has low self-esteem and even self worth, believing that nobody would care or even notice if she was to disappear or die one day.

Fighting is another one is her skills, but also what she believes to be bad at. She practices swordsmanship often and sometimes uses it in battle, normally when she has no choice. Olivia can actually become a very powerful swordsman with how quickly she can move. So despite what she says, it is easy for her to be very good with a sword as long as she gets enough practice.

There are plenty of good qualities when it comes to Olivia that she doesn't pay attention to, or really notice. She can become a very motherly person who is willing to help people when they need it or upset, often giving them advice and a hand if they need it. It's shown with Inigo that she loves him dearly and is glad to have him as a son. She's very proud of him because he wishes to become a dancer like her. There is also the fact of who Olivia is a good cook. Many people in the Unit agree and say they enjoy her cooking, some people saying they it's the best they've tasted.

When it really comes down to it, she can be quite the confusing and complicated person until you get to know her. Once you've managed to do that, she's easy to get along and understand.
.
Abilities/Powers:
Dance | When she dances, it allows the Unit she dances for to move again.
Luck 4 | This allows Olivia to give her allies that are close to her 4 luck.
Special Dance | Allies that move again receive Str/Mag/Def/Res 2 that turn.
Galeforce | Allows Olivia to move/take another action if she defeats an enemy.

Sample Entry Two:
Oh gods, just what was she going to do?! Peaking her head from the curtains which draped across the stage, Olivia saw that there were hundreds of people taking their seat in the audience for the show which was going to begin. How nerve wrecking this was, to see all of them chatting away and eyeing the stage.

How was she going to pull through this, she had no idea. Gulping, the pink-haired woman took a few steps back and closed her eyes, taking a deep breath before letting it out. She had to calm down and relax, that's all she needed to do. "I can do this, we can do this Olivia," she muttered to herself. It was easy. She had told this a thousand times and this wasn't anything new. All she needed to do was focus.

"Think of it as if it's like the battlefield and that you need to dance as if your life depends on it," Olivia said, speaking to herself again. It was something she often did to give herself a boost and stay calm, and it was actually helping. All she needed to do was focus on dancing as if she was out there again.

Her lips curved into a faint smile when she remembered those days. It was fun to watch the men smile at her when she danced. Now she just needed to be able to do it in front of all these people and then the night would be perfect. Olivia knew she needed to do this, she needed to believe in herself and that's what she was going to do.

Believe in herself.

Personality:
Mukuro, as her Super High School Level title helpful points out, is a soldier. She is loyal, unquestioning and disciplined. She is someone who became so infatuated with all things military that she ran away to join a dangerous mercenary group at a young, tender age. As she is one of those lucky few to be scouted by Hope's Peak for their abilities, she is undoubtedly talented at her niche. Her niche, in this case, being the fact that she is a person who has been completely and utterly unscathed by a life on the battlefield. She is a soldier through and through.

Unfortunately, in another certain possible if, this is exactly what gets her killed. Betrayed by her very own sister after following her orders to the bitter end.

For her sister's sake, there is probably very little Mukuro wouldn't do. Thanks to her ability to shut down her emotions at a moment's notice, she follows Junko's one and every word to the letter. Even though she is the eldest of the two, Mukuro is very much the submissive party in their sibling relationship. As far as she's concerned, she is a blade forged for the sole reason of fulfilling her sister's whim. If Junko wants her to strike and bring despair to all around them, then Mukuro would do it without hesitation. If Junko wants her to betray the friends they had made over the past two years — then she could do that, too. It's not a matter of what Junko wants her to do, but when and how Junko wants her to do it. If Junko asked her to jump, then it goes without saying that Mukuro would ask how high.

The fact that Junko's assassination attempt on her almost succeeded (and did succeed, in the main game) perfectly illustrates just how much she really trusts her sister. Even though a soldier of Mukuro's caliber should have been able to easily dodge the spears without any trouble, she failed to notice the incoming danger until it was far too late. The thought of Junko betraying her never even crossed her mind, and it shows. In the game's storyline, where she does die after Junko's betrayal, Mukuro's last words are full of shock and confusion. Even when she's staring down at her own body, pierced by several spears, she cannot comprehend what is happening. She had done everything her sister had told her to do to the best of her ability, and being tossed away so easily by her beloved little sister was nearly incomprehensible. In IF, after surviving Junko's betrayal, Mukuro's mind races back and forth between being appropriately appalled and trying to weakly justify Junko's actions.

Unfortunately, despite almost being killed, Mukuro still has some trouble distancing herself from Junko. Even though she had firmly decided to prioritize Naegi's well being above all, she still found herself trusting her sister, believing her when she lies about Naegi's blood type and almost giving him the wrong blood transfusion. Year upon years of emotional manipulation aren't undone in a single day, and it shows. In a way, Mukuro is very much like a dog that's been carefully trained to heed its master, and she easily falls back on trying to please Junko when she begins to insult and mock her over her inability to do anything regarding Naegi.

To say Mukuro would cast away everything for her sister is accurate. Even though she's a member of Super High School Level Despair, Mukuro herself admits that she feels neither despair nor hope at the world. She does not resent the world around her, but she would not be particularly against watching it burn down. The only reason she became a member of SHSL Despair was because of her blood ties to Junko, and it's not unreasonable to think that she would have never joined their ranks if she had not been born Junko's twin. The one and only time she feels true despair is when Naegi gets injured trying to save her — and this goes hand in hand with her doubts over her involvement in this whole plot. Although knowing the world is going to be ruined by despair does nothing to sway her, it's only when she realizes that her classmates are going to be involved that she begins to feel uneasy. While she didn't regret what she had done for Junko, she kept wondering why her heart ached with the knowledge that all of her friends would probably be murdered soon.

This "ache", along with Naegi's unexpected sacrifice, is exactly what finally propels her to go against Junko's wishes. Steeling herself to betray her sister and everything SHSL Despair stands for, Mukuro decides to bring everything Junko had worked so hard for crashing down. If Junko wants all of their classmates to die, then Mukuro will make sure they all survive. If Junko wants the world to be plunged into despair for the rest of eternity, then Mukuro will fight tooth and nail to make sure that hope never dies out. Throughout all of this, however, Mukuro's intentions stay firmly centered around her little sister's happiness. There is nothing Junko loves more than despair, after all. And, like a good big sister, Mukuro aims to give her only the best.

Following that, there is a reason Mukuro was selected to be on the "field" instead of masterminding the whole ordeal. As admitted by herself, she is neither a tactician nor one to give out orders. Her true strengths lay with the battlefield, where she ceases to be human and all her movements are automatic. She does not think, but simply feels and strikes with precision, becoming something of an unstoppable killing machine. It is during a battle that she truly shines, but she is by no means unstoppable. A simple shout from either Junko or Naegi could be enough to snap her out of her trance, and that alone could lead to a deadly encounter. When Junko uses this knowledge to her advantage, playing a clip of Naegi shouting at her to watch out, the momentary shock is enough to take her down. If someone hadn't arrived to rescue her just in time, she would have been very much screwed.

That being said, Mukuro puts on a rather icy front around others. Soldiers are expected to be brief and to the point, and that's just how she is. In every single photograph she's in that was taken with their group of friends, Mukuro can be seen either stoically glancing up at the camera or simply not caring at all. Her demeanor is a rather monotone and dreadfully stoic one, which is why Junko takes the time to describe her as "despairingly-stinky" and "despairingly-boring". When compared to Junko, who is flashy and capable of drawing attention to herself immediately, Mukuro is the painfully boring and painfully drab athletic twin. Because of the type of relationship they have, she firmly believes in this. Not a lot of people want to strike up a friendly conversation with the intimidating looking SHSL Soldier, which just further cements it in her mind.

Still, this isn't to say that Mukuro is stoic and deadpan all of the time. In fact, there are plenty of occasions (both in DRIF and DR0) where we see her become flustered — most of these occurring, again, around Junko. Being socially awkward and dependent on your sister for direction doesn't make you the most confident of persons, and when Junko scolds or insults her, she's quick to go off in apologies. It's more of an instinct against displeasing her sister than anything logical at all. Of course, this kind of incredibly uncool behavior extends to other situations. In DRIF, when faced with the awkward reality of trying to get the other students to trust her somehow, her behavior became rather hesitant. Her speech becomes sprinkled with verbal filters, and more often than not, she trails off with a bunch of ellipsis accompanying her statement. Despite how intimidating she tends to look most of the time, she is actually somewhat socially awkward and unsure of how to react to a bunch of things. It's a lot easier to be told to go snipe someone down than it is to be told she's nice.

However, thanks to the events of of Dangan Ronpa IF, Mukuro is no longer the despairingly disappointing girl she was at the beginning of her school life of mutual killing. For what is possibly the first time in her life, she has decided to be her own person. Not a girl who's whole life revolves around her niche and her sister, but a girl who's willing to face the world and accept responsibility for what she's helped create. She's leaving behind everything in her little world and opening herself up to all the new possibilities hope can bring.

Abilities/Powers:
While Mukuro has no supernatural abilities to speak of, she is certainly skilled enough as a soldier to have gained the attention of Hope's Peak Academy. Despite having been part of a mercenary group for three whole years, she was somehow able to avoid getting a single scar during that time. This, as displayed in Dangan Ronpa IF, is only possible due to her ridiculously sharp reflexes. From her point of view, time slows down for her when she's in the battlefield or in immediate danger, making a single second seem like an eternity and allowing her to dodge without any trouble.

In addition to this, she's highly adept at using a large variety of weapons. This includes assault riffles, handguns, grenades, knives and even makeshift weapons made in a pinch. She doesn't posses ridiculous strength, stating herself that she would probably resort to using a sniper if she ever had to take someone of Sakura's size down, but she is agile enough to be able to escape from hopeless encounters without losing her life. In fact, from what we can take from Otonashi's narration in Dangan Ronpa Zero, she moves so fast when fighting that it looks like she's flash stepping at times.

All of that aside, she's adept at hiding herself and possess enough stamina and endurance to be able to hold up for a good while without tiring.

Items/Weapons:

Sample Entry:
thread from another game. the canon point is different, though, so please let me know if you'd prefer a sample from the canon point i'm apping her with here!

Sample Entry Two:
If she had been asked about the future exactly one week ago, Mukuro would have probably said that she knew exactly what to expect out of her future. Everything had been scripted down for her, after all, and even the most negligible punctuation mark had been firmly drilled into her mind. She could recite her entire future on cue — and that had been okay with her. She had been preparing herself for this from the moment Junko had decided to put her plans into motion, and that was okay. Mukuro knew exactly what to expect out of her future, and she had been wrong.

She did not expect to be betrayed by her sister, but it happened. She did not expect to help her classmates escape with their lives, but she had somehow ended up achieving that. She did not expect to sit here, in some strange, run down apartment with the escape switch in her hand, cradled between calloused fingers and broken and bent fake nails.

Despite herself, she found herself closing her eyes and breathing. In and out, evenly, until that despair-inducing ache in her chest was gone. Losing hope because of an unexpected situation was not something she needed to do right now. Not after everything she and her classmates had gone through to obtain the device currently held in her hand. Even if she didn't know where she was or if her classmates were here with her — well. That could be easily remedied. If she stayed calm and thought rationally, she could figure this out. She could. This is what she had decided, after all. All of her despair was to be sealed away, reserved for Junko when the time is right.

Steeling her resolve, she opened her eyes and allowed her glance at the escape switch. Useless as it was at this moment, it was proof of everything that had happened. She would not allow everyone's efforts to go to waste, even if she found herself in this "Haven" or in the most remote corner of the universe.
