We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.

We now have a test drive community at haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.

While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

Flat | Top-Level Comments Only

Abilities/Powers: Issun is a Poncle. This means that while he's miniscule, he's also incredibly strong for his size. He can lift objects that are many times his own size, and he is capable of jumping to incredible heights.

As a swordsman, Issun is impressive. Due to his tiny size, he does not often pick fights with enemies, but when he does (with the aid of the Thief's Glove), he is able to jump from his place atop Amaterasu's head to the enemy and back within seconds - taking a good chunk off of their health bar and stealing a prized possession of theirs in the process.

Due to the time that he has spent with Amaterasu, he has witnessed all of her brush techniques and is in the process of mastering them himself. He has, in game, displayed the Greensprout and Rejuvenation techniques. However, he is nowhere near as adept with them as Amaterasu is.

Issun likes treasure hunting and is very good at picking locks as a result.

[When the video feed switches on, the first thing that someone viewing it might notice is how tiny the boy on screen appears to be, compared to his surroundings. He appears to be standing on top of a book.

The boy himself is donned in green and purple clothing and has what appears to be a giant beetle on his head. He has a scowl on his face and is positively glowing red.]

Alright, what's the big idea? Would anybody around here mind explaining why my paintings keep up and vanishing on me?

[He leaps into action, grabbing a nearby piece of paper (which is also several times his size) and waving it in front of the screen. The paper is entirely blank. It has also clearly been ripped out of a book.]

I kinda got a job to do, and lemme tell you, it's hard enough when finding a single thing I can actually write on is tougher than finding a patch of grass in a cursed zone. Now I finally get my hands on some, and everything I draw on it disappears?! Gimme a break!

[He throws the paper aside with an angry huff.]

So hey, if there's a secret technique to making ink stick to that stuff, I'm all ears.
Sample Entry Two:
More than ever before, Issun finds himself traveling from place to place. He lugs around parchments and inks with him, painting picture after picture of a snow white wolf with red markings. He scatters them around, shows them to anyone around who's willing to take the time to look at them. Sometimes he gets angry and impatiently shoves them into the hands of those who aren't as willing, too.

Then he talks. He tells them of the subject of his paintings, of her majesty and grace. He tells them how she saved the world and how she continues to fight - for them, her children. He encourages them to think of her and pray for her.

It's tiring work, but he never minds. When he thinks of how hard she's working, how she's still tirelessly battling to make the world a safer place for him and for everyone else, he swallows all of his complaints.

After all, he has to do his part to ease her burden, too. He promised her that much. And so, he travels the lands, never staying in one place for long. He spreads word of her deeds as her missionary. She deserves at least that much.

It's the least he can do.
