Applications Two

APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED!
The next application opening date is Friday 16th January, 7pm EST.
The next application processing date is Friday 23rd January, 7pm EST.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.

While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

To see what we are looking for:

Personality: A first look at John Watson by the average eye wouldn't reveal much of anything special about him. John's not the type of man who stands out in a crowd and even less the type of man to want to. Spending about an hour in his company, I imagine it would be easy to get a basic feel of his character, or as much of it as he tends to show on the fly. John is an ordinary bloke, a skilled doctor, and very much a pragmatist. He's the kind of man who cares about the duller details of living and often the first one to take care of them, even if they're not quite the things people enjoy doing. He'll tidy up around the flat, go out for the groceries, look through the bills, go to work, every day, like clockwork, because he understands that he has responsibilities and can't just leave them off. He's also quite a personable man- friendly, easy to relate to, and surprisingly good at accepting just about anything that gets thrown into his path- the last of which can be maintained by the fact that he's not only willingly friends with someone as difficult and complicated as Sherlock Holmes, but that he's also pretty damn good at being friends with him to boot. This is a man you have a friendly conversation with at random and nine times out of ten wouldn't expect could be dangerous at all.

That is entirely far from the truth.

It's accurate that John is a kind man, good at heart and responsible, of course, but beneath all of that there is also a constant running current of soldier. John joined the army as a doctor of his own volition, knowing exactly the kind of danger he could be sent into, and he made it to the rank of Captain when he did get sent into it (as referenced in the Baskerville episode). While he was there primarily to treat the wounded, he has killed people in the line of duty, and it's not something that he's just forgotten. John served for quite some time in the invasion of Afghanistan before he was injured and invalided home. He's a crack shot with a pistol and he throws a mean right hook, and his idea of what's too dangerous, what he should honestly panic over- well, they definitely take his experiences at war into account when he reviews them. For all that he blends into a crowd and converses nicely, for all that he has very few problems connecting with women to date, John Watson is extremely capable of being dangerous if he feels the need to. (And often he welcomes the chance to need to be.)

He's also a pretty damaged man, though he's been improving since the beginning of the series. Going to war isn't something that happened until he returned home and completely brushed it away, forgetting it ever happened. John has nightmares, returned with a wounded shoulder, a psychosomatic limp and got sent to a therapist. While it couldn't be said that he's traumatized beyond belief from his experiences, or that he wouldn't have enlisted all over again if he had the chance to go back, the first few minutes of 'A Study In Pink' alone go to show how much of an effect Afghanistan had on him. While having a stilted conversation with an old college buddy, who comments on how different he seems, he starts to say "I'm not the John Watson you know." Because it's fairly clear that he's not who he used to be. He spent his days talking to no one, staring at the spartan conditions of the room he'd taken up in, not contacting his sister because they don't get on, she's an alcoholic, and he was too proud to ask for monetary assistance. Like with many people, John has a hell of a lot of pride and it takes a hell of a lot to get him to let go of it.

Further, he's also a bit of an adrenaline junkie. And by a bit, I mean he's absolutely an adrenaline junkie, if very good at hiding it. He prefers to be useful, active, having something to do above all else- an uneventful life is something that he appears to have a lot of trouble handling, just judging by the social discomfort and silence that we get to see from him in his first few minutes on screen. When his therapist tells him that writing a blog about what happens to him will honestly help him, his only response is a quiet, almost pained "Nothing happens to me." John wants to be occupied instead of staring at the walls thinking most of the time, even while his time in action means he appreciates quiet moments and the basic comforts of modern living. It rather seemed like he had every intention of making the army a lifelong career, and had no idea what he was supposed to do once that was taken from him. This is even pointed out by Mycroft Holmes during their meeting face to face. When he refers to what John's therapist has written about him (the benefits of holding that position in the government, naturally), he sums up a lot of John's character point-blank. To derive from quotes of their conversation, he tells John that when John walks with Sherlock Holmes, he sees the battlefield. That the tremors in his left hand aren't the result of post-traumatic stress disorder, but from distaste for what his situation had turned into.
Or, as he puts it, "you're not haunted by the war, Doctor Watson. You miss it."

Of course, we might have figured out that he desires action and purpose earlier on. Sherlock offers him the chance to see a little more trouble, and he goes along with an "oh god, yes." Not so much as a second thought on the matter, and no looking back since.

Something else to mention, I suppose: his left hand is on occasion prone to tremors (not from the trauma of having been at war, but from a lack of that adrenaline he's so secretly addicted to), an occurrence which has all but disappeared since getting involved in such an active life with Sherlock. Speaking of vanished habits, after being thrust into a very uneventful civilian life (this quite probably to do with trauma), John also used to walk with a significant limp from pain in his left leg. These really only vanished after meeting Sherlock and starting up a life that's just... full of distraction and unpredictability and running across rooftops. This is something that's mostly insignificant in his life as it stands, but I felt it would be only fair to have it out in the open, just in case something comes into question.

Dr. Watson also possesses an uncanny ability to keep a cool head under pressure. Considering he was taken with the career of an army doctor and shipped out to service for a while, it makes a lot of sense. In fact, high-pressure situations tend to mean he'll excel. We see people strapped to explosives and forced to read off instructions in the episode "The Great Game," and towards the end John is put in that same position. He does as he's told with a steady voice, even keeping his wits about him enough to make a move against the consulting criminal responsible later. Towards the beginning of the scene when Sherlock arrives, he even thinks to blink S.O.S. in Morse code while he's talking, trying to get that message across. He can think most of the time when the stakes are high, can treat wounded soldiers under fire, accept his apparent kidnapping by Mycroft with an almost-casual "okay" in the first episode, and even offer up a sarcastic thanks to the men holding him at gunpoint (see A Scandal in Belgravia). The man has courage in spades, and a sense of humor both dark and dry enough to calmly get through most of the situations that a life with Sherlock Holmes produces.

Which isn't to say he's completely unaffected by great personal danger- following the removal of the bombs that were strapped to him in The Great Game, he could barely get through two or three steps before the rush of it all caught up to him and his legs nearly gave out. He still has nightmares about his service in Afghanistan as far back as the first episode. John is an extraordinary man by all means, but he's still just a man, after all.

He's also quite the foil to Sherlock, emotionally speaking. John is a man of pride, strong morals and not a small amount of nobility. He became a doctor because he genuinely cares about people, wants to help them, and an army doctor at least partly for that very same reason. Lives that are lost and saved and put in danger- he cares. John is too proud to put the majority of his emotions on deliberate, dramatic display, but he's still an emotional man and well aware of it. He has no qualms with shouting at Sherlock over the fact that he doesn't seem to care about the people in danger in The Great Game, and he likely never will have a problem telling Sherlock when he's got a problem with him. John wants to believe there's some good in people, as much as he believes in doing what he considers to be the right thing, therapist-noted trust issues aside. From his military time and the fact that he was willing to sacrifice himself in order to kill Moriarty and see Sherlock safely out of danger (The Great Game), it also appears he can look at the matter of his own life very objectively compared to those of others. One life to save his friend and put an end to a criminal mastermind once and for all? Fine. His actions were obviously also influenced by the fact that he cares about Sherlock, which is a relationship I'll get into shortly. Suffice it to say, the actions he takes for this man in canon, his personality in general, make it easy to see that he is a GOOD man. Unbelievably loyal, even only a day after meeting somebody, and he would take a bullet for the people he cares about any day (it's not like he hasn't taken one in the line of duty saving people already).

So all in all, Watson can be summed up as one great big walking contradiction of a man. Both a doctor and a soldier- he knows how to save lives in the heat of battle, and at the same time he's taken lives as well. He appreciates the comforts of home (hot tea, jumpers, crap television), but his deep-seated desire to have a purpose and be useful keep him from being content with a quiet life at this point. He's got the patience and understanding of a saint, except for when he hasn't and he's bickering with his flatmate like they're an old married couple. John can be friendly, personable, and he can be stern, wary, angry, awkward, off-putting. He cares about people but he would kill to save a friend's life- would sacrifice himself and tell them to run. It can take him a while to trust somebody, but if he does he's loyal to a fault and not ashamed of the fact. John Watson can be kind and equally hard-hearted, long-suffering and short-tempered, not want anybody to know if something's wrong with him but berate a person for doing the same thing.

At the end of the day, he's just overwhelmingly... human. Hell, maybe that's why his friendship with Sherlock balances out so well.

I... I guess it runs in the family.

By now, the blood has dried but she can still feel the warm stickiness of Daisy Fitzroy's blood slipping through her fingers and although she burned the clothes she wore on arrival... Elizabeth swears that the scent lingers even now. Even worse than this are the lingering thoughts of Songbird appearing to steal her away back to her time, back to Columbia and to her tower.

It never takes her long though, to settle down and realize that there was no way for Songbird to possibly appear in this city so far away from home. They are separated not only by time now but many worlds, she reminds herself, and wonders if Columbia even exists any more... had it even existed in the first place within this world? After all, alternate worlds was not a new though for her-ones where she drank coffee that morning instead of tea, ones where a window existed instead of a door and the ones where the dead were alive. In all her exploring and all the conversation she had with other occupants, never once had she come across a mention of the city of Columbia she had called her home. No mention of its appearance at the Worlds' Fair, no mention of its appearance at the Boxer Rebellion or its succession and no mention of the Prophet Zachary Comstock.

It's still a strange thought even though it has been weeks now since her arrival into Haven. A city much like but at the same time, completely different from Columbia. A city much harder, it seemed, to escape from as well. Elizabeth is not sure which she would rather prefer. Neither, she supposes and would prefer the beauty of Paris like she longed before but at least here there are no worries of fighting. At least, not the sort of fighting she was becoming used too...

No one here knew as the Lamb and she could live in relative ease and without the worry of someone appearing to try and capture her.

But there truly was no ease in being trapped her and she finds her fingers itching, wishing to rip open a tear to somewhere far away from here as well. Somewhere where she wasn't trapped in the sky, or in a faraway town full of monsters...

Somewhere where Booker was. It was sad almost, to still be thinking about it but she cannot help wishing that perhaps he would show up here as well and save her like he did before. Was that selfish of her? Undoubtedly but she still wishes and wishes for it to be true. A sight of the large billboard outside the apartment window catches her attention and she raises from her bed, carefully making her way over to touch the glass and gaze outwards into the murky world around her. It was still hard to believe and even now she worries that one day those monster in the subway will break in and they will truly die in this strange city, would they wake up back home then or... ?

Elizabeth shakes her head, turning on her feet and heading for the door. If sleep won't come, perhaps another round of exploration was in order. After all, all cities has their secrets and this one was no different.

Abilities/Powers: John has absolutely no supernatural abilities to speak of, possibly barring a capability to be enormously patient with the world's most frustrating man. He's quite fit for his age, able to be up to extended periods of running full-speed, and appears to be fairly meticulous in personal health and hygiene, but again, there isn't anything truly remarkable to speak of there. His left shoulder is likely something of a weak spot- it's healed from the bullet wound in Afghanistan by now, of course, but may be prone to stiffness and lack of mobility on occasion.

John's got very good aim with a firearm, evidenced in both A Study in Pink and The Hound of Baskerville, as well as sound judgement and very firm morals regarding when to make use of it. He's also a trained and experienced doctor, from general practice to trauma from a battlefield, and a skilled one at that.

Items/Weapons:
¬ his mobile phone from home, now defunct
¬ his handgun, with one full clip loaded
¬ a spare jumper

he also comes with the burden of overwhelming manpain, but you know.

Sample Entry:
-- suppose I've got this thing online, now. Wasn't so hard. [ The best way to describe the tone of John Watson's voice at the moment (other than possibly too British to really be a thing) is "underwhelmed, distracted, and mildly irritated". With a bit of fumbling, he's foregone the video function, so there isn't terribly much else to go on. For a few moments, there is only silence to follow that. The good doctor, on his end, is trying to pull his thoughts together while simultaneously questioning why all these things seem to happen to him, in his lifetime.

He clears his throat and reorients himself eventually. ]

Right. Hello. I'm Dr. John Watson. Just got in out of London a few hours ago. I was... led to believe there's a clinic here that I might be able to look into? Be more than happy to, really. It's not every day you get yourself abducted with the chance to still make yourself useful. Lucky for me. [ There's a fine, sharp sarcastic edge to his words now. Normally just get people trying to shoot him, or looking get information out of him, or strapping explosives to him. Killer plants are a bit off, but he'll take it. ] Even if, you know. We're all "safe" here together.

Hedges could use a bit of a trim, too. [ He says it as innocently as he can possibly manage, which isn't particularly innocent at all. More offhandedly long-suffering than anything. ]

Touma Kamijou | To Aru Majutsu no Index | No Reserve (2/3)

[personal profile] fukouda 2014-01-17 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
Background/History:
Touma had been plagued with misfortune since his early childhood. Labeled as “The God of Plague”, he was seen as a jinx due to how he seemed to inflict misfortune upon others. After a failed murder attempt by a superstitious person gained the the unwanted attention of a TV station, his father sent him to Academy City, a technologically advanced city free of superstition. For unknown reasons, his misfortune stopped affecting others and was limited only to himself sometime after becoming a citizen.

Like the majority of students attending Academy City, Touma was enrolled in the Power Development Curriculum. Every student that precipitates in this program becomes an Esper and should be able to theoretically wield supernatural abilities. Those who cannot are classified as a Level 0. While Touma does possess an ability, he was still labeled as a Level 0 due to its passive nature and inability to be directly measured. His right hand contained the mysterious power to negate the supernatural.

His life was soon permanently changed thanks to a chance encounter with a nun hanging upon his apartment balcony. The nun introduced herself as Index Librorum Prohibitorum and warned Touma that she was currently being pursued by magicians for the 103,000 grimoires she possessed. He offered her refuge in his apartment, but she declined as she did not wish for him to get entangled with her problems and left.

When he returns to his apartment later that day, he discovers Index collapsed at his doorstep and gravely injured. It is at this time that Stiyl, one of the magicians that were pursuing her, makes his appearance. Touma manages to defeat the fire mage thanks to Imagine Breaker and some resourceful thinking. Unfortunately, Touma possesses no means to heal Index of her wounds due to his ability. He instead entrusts Index to his teacher, Tsukuyomi Komoe, as she would be able to use magic. With Index's instructions, Komoe was able to successfully cast healing magic to mend Index's wounds.

It was a few days after this incident that Index causally reveals to Touma that she has no memories from the past year. Their conversation quickly becomes an argument and Index runs away in anger. While looking for her, Touma gets confronted by Stiyl's partner, Kanzaki Kaori. She swiftly knocks him unconscious using her superior speed and skill. During the fight, he demands an explanation for why they were chasing after Index. According to Kaori, she and Stiyl must erase Index's memories on a yearly basis or else she will die. She claims the cause is that the grimoires are occupying the majority of Index's brain and she would only be able to hold a year's worth of memories.

He regained consciousness three days latter and only hours before it is time for Index's memories to be erased. Touma uses his remaining time to try to discover a way to free Index from needing to have her memories erased. An informative lecture from Komoe reveled that Stiyl and Kaori had been lied to by the Church. The human brain can naturally store 140 years of memories so Index was in no danger of dying from memory overload. Touma deducted that the Church must have planted a spell onto Index that would kill her if she didn't have her memories regularly wiped. He discovers where the spell was and negates it, but in process accidentally forces Index into John's Pen Mode. With the help of Stiyl and Kaori, Touma was able to successfully subdue Index at the cost of his own memories. He purposely keeps his memory loss a secret from Index as he did not want her to grief for the loss of who he once was.

Here's a link to the rest of his history. It is quite long!

Personality:
At his very core, Touma is a kind, self-sacrificing individual who follows what he considers is righteous. This aspect of his nature remained true even when the entirety of his memories were destroyed. His heroic nature isn’t derived from any outside preconceived notions of morality. He freely assists any that require help whether they are a stranger or a former enemy even if they refuse. To him “Enemy” is just a situational position thus feeling no need to bear a grudge. The titles of “Hero” and “Villain” have no meaning to him. He believes what matters most is the very act of reaching out to help others even against impossible odds.

The only thing that surpasses his desire to help is his tremendous determination. Once committed to a task he will see it through regardless of the obstacles before him. This martyr like behavior usually results in him getting hospitalized and sometimes chastised for being such a reckless fool. His heroic and benevolent nature has on multiple occasions inspired others. Most noticeable is Accelerator who tried to reformed himself after encountering Touma even going as far mimicking his fighting style and regarding him as the ideal hero he wanted to become.

An idealist when concerning the hopes of other people he's ironically cynical about himself. This is more prominent before his memory loss especially when concerning Imagine Breaker. He thought of it as a useless ability due to how worthless it was in most situations and how it creates misfortune within his life. His constant misfortune combined with the stigma of being classified as a Level 0, a powerless person, contributed to his self-dispraising attitude. It was only until he freed Index from the need to have her memories wiped did he come to appreciate Imagine Breaker. This realization stayed even after his memory wipe. Although he still complains about his misfortune, he doesn't mind it so long as he can help others that are suffering.

Touma has shown surprising intelligence. He possesses an excellent grasp on physics as demonstrated when he steered the descending Star of Bethlehem into Archangel Gabriel. In battle, he has an uncanny ability to analyze the weaknesses and limitations of his opponents’ abilities. When Imagine Breaker fails or becomes useless for the current situation, he will use a more pragmatic approach to solve his problem. He has been shown to be cautious when he feels the need. After his memory loss, he manged to successfully deceive almost everybody about his memory loss so he won't potentially be taken advantage of.

He has a tendency to reference things using video game or anime tropes. Terms from dating sims like "unlocking routes" and "events" are used to jokingly poke fun at how he seems to repeatedly get involved in improbable situations with women. Role playing tropes are used when he's trying to understand overly complicated magical and supernatural explanations. As genre savvy as he is, he considers certain tropes to be impossible to happen in real life such as Tsunderes despite personally knowing two people that display this behavior.

His ignorance of the feelings of young maiden hearts is astounding. He has an entire legion of lovestruck girls that he somehow miraculously remains unaware of their feelings. Part of his ignorance comes from his disbelieve that any girl would fall for him. Personal preference also comes into play as he ferociously claims he likes Onee-san (elder sister) types and not flat-chested lolis. His amazing ability to misinterpret why his female friends behave strangely around him and his blunt, poorly chosen words tend to lend to misunderstandings.

Abilities/Powers:

Imagine Breaker

Touma was born with the mysterious and logic defying ability known as Imagine Breaker. This ability allows Touma to negate all supernatural powers which include the effects of magical, psychic, and divine powers with physical contact of his right hand. While he technically an Esper, Imagine Breaker is not an Esper ability. His status as a "Level 0 Esper" is thanks to the fact that Imagine Breaker can't be detected nor properly measured.

Although only his right hand can actively negate supernatural powers, there are some exceptions. Anything supernatural that affects his body as a whole will be completely negated. This makes abilities such as teleportation ineffective on him. Touma has also shown immunity to telepathy despite it being an ability primarily focusing on the brain.

Supernatural forces aren't the only things Imagine Breaker can affect. Humans with supernatural powers can be nullified upon physical contact with his right hand. Their powers will return the moment he releases them. Supernatural beings respond differently to Imagine Breaker depending on what they are and feel subconsciously afraid of him. Angels, for example, can be killed with Imagine Breaker. Supernatural constructs such as Golms when touched lose their power and subsequently fall apart.

Not everything can be immediately dispelled by Imagine Breaker. If the supernatural force is sufficiently massive enough, it will take extra time for it to be completely destroyed. Supernatural forces that can constantly regenerate are far more troublesome. The only way to permanently negate a regenerative supernatural force is to destroy its source. Touma can fortunately counteract his disadvantage against sufficiently massive and/or regenerative supernatural forces by disrupting it. During this state of disruption, he can physically interact with the supernatural force and safely redirect it elsewhere.

Touma possesses no direct control over Imagine Breaker. It is a passive ability that cannot be turned off no matter what. Because Imagine Breaker is indiscriminate on what it negates, it makes no distinction between beneficial and detrimental supernatural phenomenon. This makes receiving beneficial effects impossible. Imagine Breaker is the reason he is constantly plagued with misfortune since it even negates his own luck.

Precognition

Touma can subconsciously predict supernatural or supernaturally enhanced attacks. His Precognition gathers information from two sources; facial expressions and supernatural phenomenon. This allows him to gauge the severity of an attack and move Imagine Breaker into the best position to minimize damage. The predictions are accurate enough to give him the insight needed to react to attacks moving at light-speed or multiple directions.

His Precognition can be rendered ineffective by restricting the amount of information he receives. Mundane attacks can easily bypass his Precognition. Supernatural attacks become harder to counter when he is unable to read his opponent's facial expression. Its efficiency is also reduced if he tries to actively invoke his Precognition.

Physical Capabilities

Touma possess an inhuman amount of stamina as he is able to endure numerous attacks that would render a normal human incapacitated. This is coupled with an extraordinarily high pain threshold. His recover time between events usually only last a couple of days even with severe or fatal injuries.

While he may not be the most skilled or elegant fighter, Touma is a very competent street fighter. He can hold his own against armed opponents and can easily dominate people are who unfamiliar with physical combat. Everything he knows about fighting was learned solely through experience. He has no actual formal training so he tends to have great difficulty fighting against individuals who specialize and excel in physical combat.

Invisible Thing

Imagine Breaker acts as a seal to an unknown entity or power. This "Invisible Thing" was able to terrify and overpower Fiamma of the Right, a magician who had briefly attained the position "La persona superiore a Dio" (The person superior to God), after he cut off Touma's right arm. Touma himself was able to suppress that power and regrow his right arm. Very little has been revealed about the "Invisible Thing" or its capabilities.

Sample Entry: This is the only part of the app I updated.
Sample Entry Two:
Touma gazed out the hospital window from across his bed. Only a few golden strands of light managed to spill into the room as the sun slowly set for the night. It always felt so nostalgic whenever he found himself in this room again. He has involuntarily became a constant visitor to this particular room as far as he can remember. The day after the previous Touma had "died" and left behind a different person. His first memory as a new person was the sight of a white-clad nun on the verge of tears confessing her love for a dead man. In order to protect her, he created the illusion that he never lost his memories. A white lie in an attempt to ease her pain. Since that day, he has found himself in this very same room over and over again.

The hospital must have deliberately reserved this room for him for when he eventually almost killed himself again. There was no other logical explanation conceding how he always somehow ended up in the same room with the same doctor no matter what. He can definitely imagine the doctors saying, "Ah. Seems like Touma got his limbs cut off again. Well, I guess that just can't be helped. Better get Mr. Frog-Face to patch him up."

His thoughts were soon cut short as the white-clad nun, Index, came bawling through the door. "Touma!" She cried, "You got yourself into something dangerous without telling me again!" As usual, her voice was filled with worry and anger about his well-being. He gives her his warmest smile before replying.

"Sorry."

Preferred Apartment: With Giovanni and Noki if possible!

Character Name: Heine Rammsteiner. He's also been called Stray Dog, White Hair, and “brother” by fellow test subjects.
Canon: DOGS: Bullets and Carnage.
Canon Point: End of Chapter 76
Background/History: Here.
Personality: Heine is a person who lives in the past and has no dreams for the future, which significantly effects his behaviour and personality. He is so effected by the memories that he is stuck within that they consume him and make it difficult for him to see past them to a great extent. The future isn't something Heine talks or thinks about, instead he wallows in regrets and thoughts of his past years, all of the times where others he knows and has perhaps grown to care bout have died and he hasn't because of his borderline immortality. So much has happened in his past to make him very misanthropic, majorly the fact that he was created for the sole purpose of being a weapon for someone else that could be played around with and manipulated as much as they pleased.

It probably isn't much of a surprise that Heine can be rather cocky. He's very confident in his capabilities because of growing up being trained as a weapon, knowing how to use a variety of weapons as well as how to fight without any at all. Also, thanks to how difficult it is to actually kill him, Heine isn't afraid of being hurt, and isn't necessarily afraid of dying either, because the idea of it happening hardly occurs to him, to the point that when he was asked whether or not he'd like to die he couldn't answer. His regenerating capabilities renders him able to be very reckless, which he is, no matter if his life seems to be on the line in the most perilous of situations.

Heine isn't a very friendly person, in fact he really doesn't have friends in the first place. He doesn't really have friends because of how gruff, blunt, and crass he is, especially with his words, as well as his distant and apathetic attitude, which can be a very obvious turnoff to other people. The closest thing he has to a friend is his partner, Badou, who he frequently gets into life-threatening situations with. They are, indeed, companions who share time together, but not entirely in the traditional sense because of their dangerous lifestyles as information brokers and the like. Another close relationship of his, which shows just how normal the ones he has are, is the one he has with Giovanni, his “brother. They're constantly fighting whenever they're nearby to one another, always trying to kill each other, which was something that changed after Heine broke out of Einstürzen's facility and Giovanni stayed behind and remained loyal to her.

He isn't always very serious and dark, however, as Heine does have a sense of humour, albeit a somewhat twisted one. He's prone to finding a lot of enjoyment in fighting and violence, and his humour can be rather dry and sarcastic. Many of the times where Heine has, surprisingly, actually cracked a smile or laughter has been during fights, and it is true that he is at his most comfortable and at ease when he is in brawls and combat, because of growing up like a child soldier always being sent into battles to test the limits and capabilities of him and others as well as to train them and weed out the weak.

Heine even has a soft side, which isn't really a “soft” side, per se, but is the more protective and caring part of his nature. When it comes to people he cares about, he will do a lot for them, including throwing himself into dangerous situations to help or save them. This is shown mostly thanks to his relationship with Nill, a girl he saved from a life of forced prostitution who he shares a deep, caring and protective bond with for many reasons, including the fact that they are both results of genetic manipulation. She reminds him of his “sister”, Lily, who he wasn't able to protect, which increases his desire to take care of Nill in her stead. Even through his skewed view of humanity, love, and family, he is capable of gentleness and generosity, which Nill is able to see no matter when she's watched him fight, kill, and survive terrible wounds. Though Heine thinks of himself as a monster and certainly not human, a danger to those around him and the rest of humanity, Nill isn't afraid of him because he isn't as terrible as he believes he is.

Heine's experience with women has changed him very drastically, to the point that he has developed gynophobia, the fear of women. It isn't necessarily a fear exactly, but he normally is very uncomfortable around females, and reacts badly, having panic attacks, when he comes into physical contact with them. This is due to the very twisted version of “love” that he was shown by his “mother” and the fact that he killed Lily, who was practically his sister. These memories haunt him to such an extent that he has this phobia and can't forget about them. There are currently only two females in his life that he has become able to adapt to, Nill and Naoto, both of which he'd reacted badly to at first, but who he can now willingly and calmly engage in physical contact with them.

Once he was given the “Leader Spine”, another personality/person entered Heine's being, that which he and others call “the Dog”. This persona, when it takes over, thrives on violence, loving the thrill of fighting and bloodshed. It is very bloodthirsty and insane, dark and cynical, and, even when it isn't in control, its voice echoes in Heine's mind like a second conscience. It sometimes has an effect on his judgement, but he himself, as the Master, was originally a great match with the “Leader Spine” for such reasons as being susceptible and strong enough to survive their beings fusing together, sharing at least some similar attributes and traits.

Heine doesn't want to be the brutal and unfeeling killing machine that his creator and others wish him to be, and seem to think he's born to be, due to the fact that so early in his life he went berserk thanks to the Dog and killed the most important person in his life at the time, not to mention countless others in his uncontrollable rage and desire for blood and carnage. Now Heine suppresses the Dog and all that comes with it to the best of his capabilities, not wanting to go on another rage again that would potentially destroy and kill so much more than he already has in his life.

Walking on eggshells like this, Heine doesn't believe that he can protect or care of others, because he views himself utterly and completely as a danger to them. It doesn't stop him from maintaining relationships, but he is rather distant with them, for their own safety, showing that he is indeed very caring but in a withdrawn way that can be easily misunderstood.

Abilities/Powers:

Regeneration Capabilities – Heine, as one of the Kerberos Spine experiments, has the ability to heal even very serious injuries such as regenerating a limb that's been ripped from his body. The exceptions to this ability are if the spine is severely damaged, such as being broken or ripped in half, or if the brain is destroyed.

Enhanced Strength and Speed – As well as giving him regeneration capabilities, the Spine gives Heine incredibly enhanced speed and strength, making him very agile and quick as well as able to break things that a normal human wouldn't be able to.

Skill With Weapons – Being trained at a very young age to fight and be a killing machine, Heine is very skilled with the use of a variety of weapons, including knives and, most prominently, guns. He's also talented with hand-to-hand combat, using the chain attached to his gun and belt as a weapon as well.

Control of Other Spines – Thanks to the fact that Heine was fused with the “Leader Spine”, he potentially has the ability within himself to control the rest of the subjects that also have a Kerberos Spine, but thus far he hasn't been able to or even attempted to do so.

All of these abilities (except for the last) are magnified even more when the Dog is in control.

Items/Weapons: A white Mauser C96 pistol that is connected to his belt by a long chain attached to the base of the grip and a black Luger P08 pistol.

Sample Entry: Out of one shithole and into another. [ He grumbles the words under his breath, expression unamused as he runs a hand through his shaggy, white hair, the view being shown of him jolting around a bit unsteadily as he moves ] Gimme a break already.

[ He doesn't really expect to get one, in all honesty, and the wryness in his tone could give that away. It's about then that Heine actually turns his attention to the phone in his grasp, red eyes intrigued but somewhat wary of the uses of the device he isn't accustomed to yet ]

Badou? Hey, answer if you can hear this. [ Heine wouldn't admit it, but if his partner was close by it would be a reassurance he'd appreciate. There's someone else that immediately comes to mind when it comes to the few significant people in his life, and he can't stop himself from asking, gruff voice softening in a barely discernible manner ]

Anyone around here know a girl by the name of Nill? You can't miss her if she isn't covered up; she's got wings, plus she's mute. [ There's the itching desire to be threatening in some manner, because anyone who's done her any harm would certainly not go unhurt after he's gotten his hands on them, but he shoves it away ]

Also, someone mind telling me about where this dump is? I'd like to get my bearings so I can get back to where I came from. [ There's a small pause, and then, gruffly ] Name's Heine Rammsteiner.

Sample Entry Two:

Stretching his arms above his head, Heine folded them behind it afterwards, resting back against a piece of broken, stone wall like the one he sat upon. The sky wasn't something he normally admired, not that he was doing that at the moment either, but there was hardly anything better to look at. Haven wasn't exactly a picture perfect fantasy-like environment, in fact it was practically like where he came from, if not in worse condition than the better parts of the underground.

He could spot a few people walking around the streets, entering a building or two, most notably the apartment building, which was still a strange place for him to reside. Staying with so many people, cooped up in one building that hardly seemed safe at all wasn't exactly something he enjoyed, especially when they were strangers. He hadn't been slept and lived around so many people consistently since...

Heine stopped his train of thought there, looking away from the girl he had been glancing at absentmindedly for a few moments, but a voice, not exactly his own, spoke up, as if to taunt him and fill up the silence in his mind he had been trying to wallow in for as long as he could.

You're still a stray dog as always, Master.

“Shut up.” The words were snapped, out loud, even though the existence he was speaking with was within himself, and how weird would it be if someone had been around to overhear and see him talking to seemingly no one? Well, it wasn't as if there weren't people who gave him strange looks already. He was used to it, being an albino with his strange and cold attitude and animal-like demeanour he carried himself with.

You gonna let them cage you here forever?

One of his hands reached up to curl around the back of his neck, fingers toying with the collar attached to his skin, and it filled him with irritation suddenly, a glare and frown appearing on his pale face before he could stop it. The idea of a cage made him automatically think of those days years ago, stuck with the other genetically manipulated children he'd grown up with, and it was a piss off to have that happen when he'd pushed the thoughts away only moments earlier.

Of course he wouldn't let them, whoever “they” were, keep him here forever. He'd escaped Einstürzen's facility, and he'd eventually escape this place, too, if or when he saw fit to do so. He wasn't owned by anyone, and he wasn't going to be a plaything for someone else ever again.

There was a twisted laugh in the back of his mind, echoing in the darkness of his thoughts in response, and Heine grit his teeth, leaping off the broken shell of a building before setting off down the road, seeking some sort of distraction while he ignored the voice of the Dog.

Character Name: Saruhiko Fushimi
Canon: K
Canon Point: End of the anime, after the death of the Red king, Mikoto Suoh. As well as up to Chapter 3 of K: Days of Blue
Background/History: Link
Previous Game History: n/a

Personality:
“The day you’ll finally understand me will never come, so you’ll have no choice but to keep hating me.”- Saruhiko Fushimi

Fushimi says whatever he wants. He doesn’t mind sounding irritated or being short with someone. Even if he doesn’t hold his tongue even with the Chief and Lieutenant, he isn’t disrespectful of his superiors. At times, when annoyed, he’ll say something under his breath, but he will quickly comply with what they command him to do. When he speaks he’s usually being critical of someone or the situation. He isn’t afraid to offend anyone, and he’s not apologetic at all. Though, it seems Fushimi says whatever is on his mind, it’s not true. His speech also creates a distance from others. He doesn’t wish to correct everyone’s perception of him, and is fine with the misconceptions that people have of him. What he really thinks, he keeps to himself.

Fushimi is pretty cynical. He has no wishes for the future, and he doesn’t like many things. In fact, he hates more things than he can name. From this gloomy disposition of life, we don’t know where it stems from, but perhaps Fushimi places himself in such low esteem that he feels that he doesn’t deserve to have a future. Within a CD drama, we get a glimpse of this depreciating perception of himself. After failing to rescue Anna Kushina, a member of HOMRA from being stuck between two vending machines, Fushimi is a bit hard on himself for not being able to be more help to her. Believing himself to be worthless, even if he tried his best. To hate things (even himself) only makes his life simpler, since he can’t be disappointed or expect more. He can’t believe in his peers if he views them all as idiots, and he can’t be too upset when he fails to accomplish something.

Despite his pessimism, he’s actually quite ambitious. Fushimi is third-in-command of Scepter 4, and he’s worked his way up in the organization to reach that point. Even before joining the organization, he’s always looked down at people who weren’t doing anything with their lives. Such as HOMRA, who views as a group of thugs. Even for himself, despite not liking the annoyances that come from working with a team, he likes using his skills for an ultimate goal. In K: Days of Blue, we can see how diligent Fushimi is, working into the wee hours of the night to finish paperwork. He takes his tasks very seriously gaining the esteem of his superiors and even his fellow clansmen. In certain situations he will take up the leadership role, when the Chief and Lieutenant can’t. He’s able to expertly guide his clansmen and initiate a plan of attack.

Fushimi isn’t a team player, and he groans when he has to do things within a group. He prefers to work alone, and he carries most of his assignments with little assistance. When he relies on others he feels their incompetence only slows him down. When it comes to team building, Fushimi rejects any invitation to get close to anyone, making his co-workers isolate him socially. Fushimi’s past is a mystery but what we can gather is that he doesn’t have trust in people, and so he doesn’t depend on his comrades. However, he’s slowly allowing himself to depend on his clansmen. In Days of Blue, he allows Hidaka to help him with the paperwork, even going as far to thank him for his help. Though he only accepts Hidaka’s aid when he proves his competence by fixing a co-worker’s report.

Fushimi will go through any means to complete a job. His methods can be seen as heartless since he has no sense of guilt for the actions he does, whether it’s drugging an innocent student to have access to the school computer system, or even stomping a strain so he can confess. He doesn’t mind taking a road that goes against ethics in order to make things progress faster. And even if Fushimi uses extreme methods, he isn’t threatening to kill any of his victims. He drugged a girl, but she is later shown to be fine and in good health. The strain he abused isn’t in critical medical situation, but sitting in jail. Fushimi has shown that people can mean little to him, there have been times that he has saved his Lieutenant, Seri Awashima in combat. Even though saving her didn’t mean the success or completion of his task, he still did it. Despite how hard he tries to distance himself from others, he’s not completely unfeeling.

Although Fushimi detaches himself from most people, there is one person he seeks out the most, Misaki. In the past, Misaki and himself went to Middle school together. Both of them were pretty close friends who did many things together whether it was playing video games or looking out for each other. However when they joined HOMRA together, Misaki really took to the Red Clansmen and Fushimi could only look on not feeling the same sentiment. Misaki was able to find kinship with the members, and he immediately took a liking to their leader, Mikoto Suoh and HOMRA’s message of pride. Fushimi however, didn’t feel he fit in with them. He viewed them as thugs who were going nowhere in life. He hated the idleness of HOMRA and decides to desert, joining Scepter 4 instead. Though Fushimi’s feelings isn’t so black and white. In some ways, he feels abandoned by Misaki, since he was the only one Fushimi came to trust. And even Misaki turned his back on him.

It would be understandable if Fushimi estranged himself from Misaki, but he doesn’t. When HOMRA is present in a job, Fushimi still looks for Misaki. Fushimi becomes disappointed when he isn’t present or if he’s missed a chance to see him. When there is a chance to meet, his whole demeanor changes. He becomes mocking and even playful towards Misaki, a complete 180 from his usual behavior. Fushimi maintains Misaki’s attention on him by goading him into fighting. When another member of HOMRA tries to interferes, he quickly dismisses them and prevents them from getting in his way. And when Misaki is hurt, he does check on his well-being. It seems that Fushimi still cares for Misaki, and being unable to express it, he presents it in a backwards way. Instead of repairing a friendship, Fushimi wishes to fuel Misaki’s hate for him. Though his separation from HOMRA isn’t clearly answered by Fushimi, one can assume it partially had to do with Misaki. It’s notable that Fushimi tried to mess up his tattoo to separate himself from the group, or to show Misaki how little it means to him. Still whenever he’s thinking of Misaki or seeing him at a distance, his hands goes over it in an attempt to erase it, or maybe to remind himself of the choice he’s made. Before he left HOMRA, he told Misaki he wanted the other to see what he became, and he has been bent on keeping this promise.

On the outside, Fushimi seems like a really depressing person, someone that you would want to avoid at all costs. But the truth is there’s more to him than he lets on. He’s ambitious, diligent, a leader, vulnerable and at one point, a dear friend. For Fushimi, someone who rather not think of the future, only means he’s firmly invested in his present.

Abilities/Powers: Fushimi possesses a blue aura. Auras in the K universe is a power granted to Kings and their clansman. There are Seven Kings with different color auras, except for the seventh king which is colorless. Each aura has a distinct ability to them. The blue aura has an ability to strike many areas at once, and attack in quick succession. It has also been show to act as a shield or to act as a barrier.

Not only does he have the power of his aura, but he has excellent sword skills which he can use well in combat. He also has shown great accuracy with throwing knives as well.

Work related, he’s good at hacking into computers and even tracking people. In the K: Lost small world, Fushimi was developing his own Email app for Misaki and himself to use, so he has a range of different computer skills. He’s also extremely good at math, being able to solve an equation in a moment after hearing it.

Items/Weapons: Saber and throwing knives

Sample Entry:

“In Haven,We are all safe…together”? Do they expect people to buy that? [There’s only an exasperated, tired voice. Fushimi really wasn’t in the mood for any of this.]

Tch...there’s probably no use trying to escape either. [The listener can probably hear heavy boots walking against the floor in the background. And after a few moments, there’s an abrupt jarring sound and some shuffling, before everything settles. The speaker must have decided to sit. He clicks his tongue.] Tch…this whole thing is so stupid.

[He already tried getting in contact with the chief only to find it wouldn’t connect. And his surroundings only told him he was really far from home. Shizume city was very upscale compared to this dump. A long sigh.]…Just tell me what I need to know.

Sample Entry Two:
“…This is such a pain.” A long drawn out sigh emitted from the dark haired youth. He lazily searched amongst the chaos of the pillaged store. Shelves were thrown down on to the floors, the products of scattered all over the floor. Though the supplies were scarce, there were still present, it would just take some effort to sort through it all.

Fushimi wasn’t particularly enthusiastic of the task, but dying of starvation sounded pathetic and needlessly painful. Even if at some point all the captives of Haven would be subject to a food shortage, and death by hunger would be a reality. He just hoped he wasn’t there to experience it.

Fushimi crouched down, shifting through the leftovers, looking over the dried foods and cans snubbed by other scavengers. He came across Lima beans…Asparagus…pickled plums? Fushimi doesn’t question the reason these things were disregarded. Every single thing he grabbed was something unappetizing. Having to search for food was so annoying to the officer. To think he would be kidnapped, and made to live an impoverish existence. What was the point? Were the people of Yao Corporation trying to degrade them? Was this an experiment on its own on how long it will be until they turn into cannibals? Thinking about it just made his teeth grind.

“Don’t lab rats get treated better than this?” Even if lab rats were stuck in cages, and being syringed all times of the day, at least they were well feed. The Yao Corporation obviously didn’t know what hospitality was. Even Scepter 4 treated destructive Strains better than this. But Fushimi supposed it didn’t matter…they were just going to use them until they became useless. He wished they would hurry up with the verdict instead of stringing them on false hope.

Finally he came across something of interest. A can of Spam? Fushimi looked at it suspiciously. “Is this even considered meat?” After a pause for consideration, he relented with a shrug; he hadn’t come across anything else. He was getting tired of this. “Whatever…”

He was just so over being hungry, but not to point where eating vegetables would suffice. And sugar will only fill his stomach for a short while. Hunting for animals was once an idea that was too tedious to do, but now that he saw how limited his options were, he was considering it. But in truth he was done with this idleness. Was there nothing to do but survive? All he ever wanted was to leave society. He loathed how strict and uniformed it was, and now that he had his escape, he really knew how an outsider felt. He sighed to himself, absentmindedly grinding his teeth again. He was thinking too much.

To no one he said. “…Just send me back already.”

tricksterofasgard: (Hope remains)

[personal profile] tricksterofasgard 2014-01-17 07:17 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:
Loki is the God of Mischief and bringer of chaos and change. The Lie-Smith. The Trickster that cannot be trusted. And this is nothing he is intentionally, but this is what he actually is. It’s the core of his being and his one true nature. He lies more often than telling the truth.

This doesn't necessarily make him evil, though. His actions just aren’t always good and much rather tend to lead towards a harmful outcome. Generally he is willing to work with either side, good or bad, depending on which will get him towards his personal goal. So one may rather see him as neutral. He works hard and meticulously to set up a disaster only to watch ruefully when it actually unfolds and then finds himself torn between triumph and terror until his pride makes him choose triumph. Because he desperately tries to prove himself. Which seems to be his endless quest.

At first he wanted to prove himself to his father. To show Odin that he is just as worthy as his brother Thor, who Loki has always been jealous of and still reacts unnerved just by having someone else drop his name. From his perception Odin had favored Thor over him, but later it will show that Loki’s perception doesn’t necessarily equal the truth. For example when he accuses Thor of having tossed him into the void when it was actually himself letting go of Gungnir that had him fall. There is a decent chance that some of his memories aren't exactly true anymore but got screwed up in one way or another while he was assumed dead.

When Thor was banished from Asgard (thanks to Loki’s actions) and Odin fell into the Odinsleep (partly thanks to Loki’s actions), Loki became King of Asgard for a short period of time. A deleted scene in which he is given Gungnir, Odin’s spear, as sign of his reign over Asgard actually shows him surprised by this decision, if not even unprepared for it. Whilst the throne had been what he had claimed to want, he really mostly had just wanted acknowledgement. Furthermore by that point he had considered it impossible for him to become Asgard’s King due to his newfound knowledge about his true heritage as a Frost Giant and his adoption by Odin. So here he saw a chance to prove himself… But chose the presumably worst way to attempt to do so: By being who he is and telling different lies to different people, making false allies just to backstab even those. Ultimately he proved nothing, but lost the trust of everyone he cared about and finds himself swallowed by the void.

What we learn from this is that he tries. He tries hard and he tries a lot, but he has an unhealthy tendency to… Fail. Things blow up in his face, he gets beaten up or shot when in the middle of a speech and anyone that had to deal with him at least once will make sure to not trust him easily if at all.

It is stated at one point that winning isn’t part of his nature, which appears to be true. In some twisted way he is bound to fail by who and what he is. He creates mischief and chaos. But chaos can only last so long and letting it swallow up everything won’t work because next to chaos and discord Loki is also supposed to bring change. And change is what is happening after chaos has set in and got settled. It’s like a circular flow and his actual purpose: To make things change. And as confusing as this may sound, there is a sort of logic behind it, but it is very unlikely that Loki himself is even aware of this. Or ever should become aware of it. Because he still has to do what he does, but in order for him to fulfill his purpose he needs motivation. And that motivation he draws from his constant failing.

And there we also have what makes him discontent. With himself most of all. He is eager to succeed and constantly compares himself to his brother but regardless of how well he does, regardless how well he has everything planned out… He won’t succeed. And if he does, it doesn't last.

Loki is very unlike his brother. He observes, he thinks, he listens and ponders. Also he is very secretive about what is going on in his head and especially about his feelings. He prefers to hide them as best as possible since actually he happens to be quite emotional. And that’s not exactly a trait that suits a male Asgardian.

The male Asgardian is supposed to be manly, strong, huge, wield impressive weapons, go to war for a while to slay some opponents and return to get drunk and feast and just… Be manly. Viking Gods and all.

Now as for Loki… He doesn’t really fit into that image if we are honest. Compared to a human he may be strong, but he sure doesn’t come along packed with muscles as Thor does. He doesn’t swing brute weapons for bloody slaughter but fights the sneaky, feminine way with his magic, little daggers and tricks. And even if we tilt our head and squint our eyes I doubt that anyone can truly picture him getting helplessly drunk and loud and obnoxious at a proper feast. So by Asgardian standards he is a pretty poor example for a man. But at least that he might actually be aware of. Which is why he makes sure his emotional side is well-hidden.

And yet we see it peeking through every now and then. Several situations have brought him to the brink of tears and Loki fails to hold them back in his rage when fighting his brother, revealing to him that he only ever wanted to be his equal. And later, every time Thor offers him to return back home with him: Loki hesitates. He hesitates, clearly torn between actually wanting to and his stubbornly prideful obsession with wanting to succeed. And he keeps choosing pride.

It also shows when his mother, Frigga, is killed and Loki not just makes a mess out of his cell, but also himself. He hadn’t parted with her on good terms and partly blames himself for her death: By having been imprisoned during the attack (due to his own actions) and therefore having been unable to potentially protect her. A lesser point may be that he indirectly assisted her killer by hinting him the right way out, promising himself to just cause some trouble for Thor.

Just another point on the long list that Loki failed to do right, but one that pains him especially. Up until the very end Frigga remained the one that still believed in him and wanted to trust him even when Loki already refused to consider her his mother any longer. Which was a claim he didn’t mean earnestly if his grief is any indication.

He loved his mother. He wanted her to be his mother. And he loved his family and wanted them to acknowledge him and be proud of him. But with the loss of his family all that remained was his need for acknowledgement that grew into a desire for power. An urge to be superior and rule and be an actual God, a king with a kingdom, worship and unquestioned reign.

Humans he considers to be lesser beings. Unworthy and at best useful as toys for his schemes. Loki will act high and mighty, not rarely sarcastic and in a playfully condescending manner unless actually getting ticked off. Which happens to be the case when his plans don't work out to his liking and he is about to fail. Then he loses all composure, sets his actual anger and frustration free and even starts yelling, insisting on his superiority and godhood. Not that this sort of behavior helps him any, it merely displays how bad he can deal with things slipping his control and him having to realize that he is, in fact, not almighty.

At the canon point I aim to take him from he is also pretty much a complete mess and pretty on edge, if not slightly paranoid about the Chitauri seeking him out in this strange place that is not Midgard as originally planned and thus interrupts all their plans on acquiring the Tesseract. It will take him a bit to calm down from whatever he has escaped there, but a lingering worry, if not even fear will remain. The Other has proven quite nicely that they are perfectly able to get under Loki’s skin and cause him physical and mental harm, which clearly is a decent enough reason to worry about them getting back on his trail.

Abilities/Powers:
First of all, he’s a god. As such he can easily live for thousands of years, but by no means is actually immortal. The gods of Asgard age and die, but when they die it rarely happens due to old age.

Further, Loki possesses superhuman strength, durability and reflexes. Being born a frost giant he also withstands extremely cold temperatures without being bothered by the cold at all. This also leaves him with a whole ice-based skillset unique to frost giants that he has no real control over as he has not yet researched these abilities. And while the movie doesn’t explicitly states this, it is noted for the comic-version that his heritage also actually makes him several hundred pounds heavier than he looks due to him having a very high body density. This isn’t necessarily an important point, but a tiny bit of information I like to add for the sake of having it added.

Loki is a skilled combatant and strategist and mainly uses throwing daggers, spears and his magic to fight. When he fights, he fights dirty. He likes to perform sneak attacks and uses illusions to trick his opponents rather than directly defeating them with his actual weapons. While he shows a great deal of magic knowledge, he isn’t often seen using any greatly offensive spells save for some energy bolts usually fired from his spear. Rather he uses the aforementioned illusionary magic or such that assist him in his manipulating efforts, which does include actual mind control as well. He also uses his magic for seemingly trivial things, such as changing his clothes, summoning his weapons or turning a goblet of wine into a goblet filled with tiny snakes for his personal amusement. Loki basically use his magic in whatever way he wishes to use it without being limited to certain spells.

But before all sorcery and combatant skills comes his tongue. He is very intelligent and has the ability to talk his way out of dire situations and weaves his net of lies without missing a beat. This presumably has saved him his hide more than once. Especially in addition to his ability to adapt to new situations fast and learn quickly. Be it a new language or foreign technology.

And lastly, he is a shape-shifter. Meaning that he can assume different forms at will. This can be people, animals, beasts and anything of either gender.

According to the actual Norse Mythology Loki would also be the God of Fire, but that is a point the character has yet to life up to, so I will be leaving this out.

* throwing daggers
* his clothes/armor (it may look silly, but he likes his helmet...)

Sample Entry: Once upon a time he ran into his brother...

Sample Entry Two:
Something about this place just wasn’t right. It didn’t feel right. Regardless how much it attempted to appear like Midgard, there was just something in the air that was… Missing. That little something that always had shown Loki the right direction out. He had always known where to go in order to move to one of the other realms and he was so used to just knowing by now that the lack of this knowledge irked the god.

It just wasn’t right.

And therefore he doubted that this was still Midgard. Just a realm that, for some tasteless reason, looked very similar. With the difference, of course, that this city was in ruins. Loki gave a short, displeased sound at that. He must have angered Fate recently. Once he found a way out of here, he may have to pay her a visit. But for now he would have to settle with finding his way around and figuring out how to return. Fix the little something that went wrong and get his plan back on track.

He may just see this as an added challenge. An unpleasant one.

With one last look around his current position Loki ensured to take note of anything noteworthy before heading off. Knowing where one came from was just as important as paying attention to the places one passed when yet lacking actual orientation.

As he walked, the God of Mischief was already weaving together a new spell. One to aid him scanning his surroundings with more than just his senses. One to find traces of foreign magic, spells or energy signatures that may lead him to whatever had caused this interference. And once he found it? Or them, even… Well. He would decide on that when it was the time to do so. But one thing was already pretty clear: Loki was not planning on taking lightly on having his plans interfered with.

Background/History:

Binbougami ga!(translated to Good Luck Girl!) Wikipedia entry | Ichiko Sakura Fan page Wiki entry

A brief summary (hopefully brief!) to fortune & misfortune energy , as it is used in this setting:
“All living things are born with an inherent ability to be successful. We measure this as a form of energy that we call ‘fortune.’ The opposite form of this energy is ‘misfortune,’ which brings calamity and ruin.”

Contrary to the connotations of what the word “misfortune” brings up, misfortune energy still has its benevolent and absolutely vital purposes. The world in Binbougami ga! will fall apart if both fortune and misfortune energies are not balanced and the same is true for the individual person. While misfortune does harbor bad luck, it also does help in bringing people together. Misfortune also helps foster empathy, love and compassion for your fellow human, humility, gratitude for someone else’s kindness, patience learned from strenuous periods in life, and just in general a broad range of emotions and feelings a normal person would have after personal tragedy or hardship. Of course too much misfortune/bad luck is bad, but the same can be said about fortune and good luck. With too much fortune energy, one can become jaded, arrogant, greedy, completely incapable of understanding someone else’s feelings or even worse, completely apathetic to someone else’s plight. Balancing both good and bad fortune energy is a necessity to become a better person, and to not destroy the world.

In this setting, Ichiko has a lot of fortune energy. What’s worse is that her fortune energy continues to grow. She inadvertently absorbs fortune energy from others around her, continuing to stockpile her own reserves while plighting everyone around her. She has so much that her fortune rivals that of gods, and her existence alone threatens to push the entire human world into karmic imbalance and disaster.

Character Name: Virion
Canon: Fire Emblem: Awakening
Canon Point: Pre-End Game/Final Chapter
Background/History: Fire Emblem: Awakening Wiki | Virion Wiki

Personality:
“Ha! Is the lady intrigued?.. Of course you are—it’s only natural. I am myth and legend! I am he who strides large across history’s greatest stage! The man who puts the ‘arch’ in ‘archer’!”

Enter Virion, a former Duke of a country seized by enemy forces in war, convicted of cowardice by his people after leaving them to the mercy of the enemy, then exiled from his own country. One would think these series of events would weigh heavily on the conscience, but not Virion!. In fact since that event, he lives his life with gusto and an almost inappropriate zeal to live and love. He’s seemingly carefree, overtly friendly, and even more so friendly if you're a member of the much fairer sex. Words are his weapon of choice, and oh boy do they flow freely from his gilded tongue.

Upon first introduction even before a single word is uttered, one would immediately conclude that Virion is a noble. A highborn, prissy pants type of noble who would whine about not being able to dine on the finest quail eggs perfectly soft-boiled in the morning, and to that merit it’s true. His body language is full of broad sweeps of his arms for gesturing, polite stances and refinement, all akin to that of a noble. Ask him this and he will not deny it; one of his favorite subjects to talk about his himself. His ego is self-inflated and this is a ritual done daily. Fault him on his upbringing, but one cannot fault him for his elegance. It is true; he sparkles like the most treasured jewel, and yet somehow his words kindle inspiration and sometimes even camaraderie; hardly ever malicious arrogance. Maybe eye rolls here and there. But for all the self-touting he does, his claims of brag are often backed up with exceeding talent.

Virion has many proficiencies, yet calling him a jack of all trades would be misleading, as he is a master of many. In many of the support conversations and the story itself it is revealed that Virion houses an amazing number of skills and talents, ranging from his crucial battle skills like archery to fencing, dancing and even falconing. Everything is novel and an adventure to him, and as such he really doesn’t sweat the small stuff. It can be a problem at times, like when Maribelle notes how often he skips out of routine battle formations, from training, sometimes even from actual combat and the like. Even when chopping wood with Libra, he was first to balk from a session of manual labor, growing weary of the mundane exercise. In one support with Frederick, while in battle he stops, sets his things down and has a tea break, inviting Frederick to join.

He leads a very dandy lifestyle, choosing to focus on grace and beauty, refinement and other sorts of distractions ill-befitting of a soldier for war. Aside from his self-boasting his next favorite thing to do would be flirting with women, trying to woo and win the hearts of literally anything that’s in a skirt. It’s not explicitly stated but it’s implied several times that this isn’t just harmless flirting, but in fact Virion wishes to extend the romantic rendezvous into the night with many and any a lass. Virion has this mentality that women are to be handled like “a baby bird,” or just as precious creatures in general. He thinks his line of thinking of good-natured and chivalrous but at times it’s just flat out sexist, but he sweeps all his behaviors into the category of being gallant. However “gallant” it may be, Virion nonetheless pulls out all the stops when assisting a lady—whether or not she is in need.

Virion has a gift of words. Words are his bread and butter, and despite his many talents, speech is his greatest ally and his sharpest sword. He is a literary talent, using the language with great flourish to fit his needs. Women are often wooed by his flowery prose, soldiers are inspired by his bold poems—there’s virtually no situation he cannot escape if he can just have a moment to speak. He loves to talk, in so much that when he’s interrupted he finds it incredibly rude!

It’s learned through many support conversations about his recently pained past. Virion fled his home dukedom from an invading enemy. Many of his own loyal retainers and subjects have died protecting him. The rest of his people despise him for fleeing like a coward and call him such, and woefully this stigma follows him as he serves in Chrom’s army. Virion has cowardly tendencies, ranging from simple day to day interactions to the more serious ones. Often he is bowing out of conversations or quickly changing the topic of things he doesn’t like to talk about. Cherche even questions why he continues to chase after girls, pondering out loud if this is just another diversion to pry himself away from his Duke responsibilities to his people. What’s done is done, and while Virion cannot easily swallow his cowardice, he demonstrates a strong inner resolve from his craven antics.

In truth Virion is sorely pained from abandoning his country and his people, and he quietly mourns those that sacrificed themselves for their craven Duke. In the same conversation with Cherche about why he fled, Virion admits that he originally planned to sacrifice himself for the country, but his men balked and attacked the invaders first, which left virtually no negotiation for the safety of the rest of the armies. Virion fled to honor their sacrifice, and to severely diminish the chance of any strong revolt against the invading enemy, in order to reduce the number of casualties. He admits he truly regrets fleeing, and in doing so he has taken it upon himself to fashion his life around serving others.

Virion discusses how he wants to live his life from then on to serve others, primarily in memory of his loyal retainers and the people of his nation. It’s implied that he was already a benevolent Duke and an individual as his country previously loved him, but he goes the distance even more. In several support conversations Virion becomes the better man to help out his fellow comrade or even just his fellow man. Soldier, villager or child, if there is an opportunity to do good, he will not baulk at the chance to do so. He demonstrates patience, humoring Nowi with her obviously dangerous games that puts Virion in much peril, and then when he realizes how much effort Nowi is putting forth to “play” with him, he spends even more time with her. In a support with Libra, he pawns off a precious family heirloom to purchase some outrageously medicine for a sickly elderly couple. Libra is shocked at the sacrifice and even he feels uncomfortable that Virion did such a thing, but Virion’s “gallant” nature coolly plays it off like it’s no big deal.

Of course, the “dashing rogue” as Virion so aptly puts himself would like for everyone to think he’s just all smiles, goofy proposals to women and the like, but there’s a fiendish cunning that lurks behind the sparkly smile. Virion is a masterful manipulator, a powerful deceiver, one with sharp wit, a quick mind to plot the plan and a silver tongue to set it in action. He is a great judge of character, able to aptly pin Cordelia’s characteristics and problems she is facing just from observation, and a top-notch deceiver, able to trick even the most logic-ruled person Miriel by understanding the human psyche. He duels against Robin on numerous occasions with a board game that employs great tactics (presumably chess?) and often beats Robin, and Robin is the tactician of the army!

Virion is a number of things. A braggart, a dashing rogue, a skilled tactician, a gifted speaker, a devastating fighter, a master of many… The noble wears many hats, and it suits his lifestyle. His dandyism might not appeal to all (let’s be honest, it appeals to virtually no one…) but his heart is in the right place most of the time, and since he’s such a carefree and cheery fellow, it’s easy to get swept up along with Virion’s antics!

Abilities/Powers:

Virion is a powerful archer. His ability with the bow and arrow are surpassed by few. Overall he is a terrific and adept fighter, a soldier with great familiarity with a good range of medieval weapons. However he is only human; he does not possess any supernatural or beyond human powers. The following skills are ones Virion can possess in the video game and their IC usage.
Bowbreaker: Increases Hit Rate and Evade by 50% when Enemy Units are equipped with Bows. ICly it can mean that Virion is so savvy against enemies who use this type of weapon against him!

Bowfaire: Adds 5 strength when using a bow. ICly it can mean Virion can use bows with even more deadly force.

Hit Rate +20: Increases the hit rate by 20. ICly it means Virion is one very, very accurate shot.

Rally Skill: Increases all allies’ Skill by 4 that are within a 3 tile radius around him. ICly it can mean he can give a brief rally and raise everyone’s spirits to perform better in battle.
Items/Weapons:
Killer Bow: A bow that drastically increases the critical rate of attack. ICly it can be a very taught and high-strung bow that shoots arrows with increased speed for deeper penetration, inflicting a more mortal wound!

Longbow: A bow that has increased range. It can shoot very, very far!

Brave Bow: A bow that does twice the number of attacks. ICly considering Virion’s speed, he would be able to fire up to four arrows in the span it would take to attack once!

[ The feed blips on, showing a man with long, flowing light blue hair and smooth, defined facial features. He’s certainly handsome, though it’s a sort of pretty handsome instead of the “handsome handsome.”

He’s also wearing a cravat.

Or a bib. It’s hard to tell. The video quality isn’t great and it’s kind of small anyway.

Nonetheless he flashes a very winning smile. ]

Ahem. Greetings, fellow adventurers! It is I, the most noble Virion, here at your service. And especially to the good lasses and most proper of ladies, I bid you the fairest salutations that a man of my elevated station could offer! It truly woes me to see such disparity in such a bleak, unrefined land, but fret not! For this nobleman will lend his good will to those truly in need!

[ In grandiose manner he sweeps both arms out. ]

Have I, the great and gallant Virion, captured your hearts, my sweets? It is to be expected, of course. Even though it may be civilized conversation, it has become somewhat of a terrible habit of mine to cause much craning of the neck to take a peak at whom so speaks with such refined flourish. Ravishing! [ There’s a weird amount of emphasis placed on that word just now… ]

…Hmm, one can certainly understand how our very first meeting can come with a frightful bout of skepticism, but permit me to explain! The gentlemanly Virion tells no lie, and I shall do everything in my power to never fail you. I swear it by the heavens itself!

[ He motions to the camera, pointing a finger and then gestures to himself again. ]

A brief respite from dreariness, a wondrous song of heartfelt emotions, a wild, captivating dance to enrapture your very souls, to a simple fetch of the well water, I shall do whatever is in my power!

[ The feed blips out. ]
Sample Entry Two:
The sun was beating down furiously. It made the gentle nobleman sweat. How mortifying.

VIrion wiped his brow and shaded his eyes, squinting in the brightness of the mid-afternoon. He stared down the field to an archery target. It was at such a distance that the target was a mere blurry, hazy blip of white canvas on the green grass horizon. The army was tasked to train, and Virion couldn’t exactly find a way to weasel out of this session today. The ex-Duke thought about just quitting, because seriously this was too much effort. “And what, if I may exactly ask, is the point of having someone of my exuberant pedigree stand out for so long in the sun?” Virion grumbled quietly, setting his hand down onto his hip and cocking it there. “Don’t they know that a fine dandy like Virion would wilt under this unbearable sun? It would not be entirely remiss to be serving tea in the nice shade, enjoying the soft breeze, instead of sweating it out with such buffoonery—“

His ears cricked with the idle chatters of some people who have come to watch Virion and his grumblings stopped. He paused for a moment, then turned to the gathering audience with a pleasant smile and a broad sweep of his arm. “Ah, I’m pleased that my unrivaled skill has gathered such an audience! Were Virion’s talent with the bow berthed from his noble pedigree could somehow provide brief, shady respite from this heat, it would be done!” He exclaims rather gallantly, scanning the gathering. There weren’t any ladies in the group, so there was no point to showboat. He could shoot, they would disperse and leave the noble to his own devices. He did note Frederick among the group, of all people, and it pleased Virion that the commander’s right hand man would bear witness to this training exercise. After witnessing such a spectacle, there would be no doubt that Frederick could vouch on behalf of the disgraced noble of his necessity and place in the army.

In one easy, casual motion, Virion nocked an arrow, drew the bow string, angled high upwards and let the arrow fly, all within a span of a few moments. Less than a second. The arrow sailed through the sky, but Virion had his back turned from the destination and was walking to the audience. For any archer worth their salt, they should be able to hit anything within seventy-five meters. And then hitting a broad target like an invading phalanx of soldiers from one hundred fifty meters isn’t too difficult. To hit anything with any sort of accuracy beyond two hundred meters is quite paramount. Virion lost count, but knew the target he was aiming at was over three hundred meters away. Virion rose his arms to the group a moment before the gathered audience erupted into awe and applause. Without having to look back, Virion knew the arrow struck true, dead center of the target. He was the archest of archers, after all.

“Thank you, thank you! You flatter me! Your thunderous ovation is entirely too pleasant, even for a true nobleman such as moi. But please, with nary an ounce of hesitation, let us break from this heat!” With the watchers thoroughly impressed, Virion could ease into the shade and eventually slip away, back to camp. Training was such a bore, anyway. What was there to train, when he was already at the very peak of his own perfection? Maybe he could take a visit to the local town nearby for a brew and a budding sweet lass? Oh, just the thought of it sends a rush of thrill through his body!

Ichiko Sakura ✿ Binbougami ga! ✿ Reserved - 2/3

[personal profile] prosper 2014-01-17 07:46 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:
Ichiko Sakura is a normal sixteen year old high school student. She's pretty, smart, and athletic. She's very popular among the men in her school and the spotlight is always on her where ever she goes. She's very wealthy and she even has a butler! She even comments that she has led a rose-colored glasses life, breezing through it with minimal effort and looking wildly good in the process. Her personality, however, leaves much to be desired. Frankly she's just plain rotten! She's spiteful, has no respect for authority, competitively a sore winner (and she always wins) and all around unpolished. She even resorts to violence. The girls at school hate Ichiko for her "minimal effort, massive gains" lifestyle and Ichiko just rubs it in their faces! Succinctly put Ichiko is a very lucky girl; so lucky that her luck is on par with that of literal gods!

When one first meets Ichiko they would find a young girl who is very pleasant to talk to. In public and around people, she’s very polite, very nice and charismatic. Her thoughtfulness always seems so genuine as well, so naturally she’s on the good sides of many people. In the school she attends, she’s the heart throb of all the men and a teachers’ pet. She doesn’t try to act humble about her talents, but she doesn’t publicly exalt herself. She understands that that is not a good trait to be seen with, so she will keep her bragging to a minimum. At least to the boys. But when Ichiko is away from other people and by herself, her personality does a complete 180. It’s revealed in the very first few minutes of the show that she’s actually extremely haughty and considers herself to be on a different, much higher level than everyone else. She intentionally acts the way she acts to manipulate peoples’ feelings about her. She has terrible relations with other girls because she makes little effort to become their friends, and when it’s just the girls, her inner nature is revealed. Ichiko intentionally ostracizes herself from the other girls by baring her teeth, always comparing herself to them. She has better looks, she receives higher marks at school, she’s more athletic, constantly has men eating off her palm, and she’s loaded. Naturally she becomes an object of envy and hatred by the other girls.

“You’d think I‘d care about what happens to a few nobodies?”

Ichiko acts selfishly, often thinking about how this can benefit her. She doesn’t like to dive into trouble if it doesn’t immediately reward her, simply because she doesn’t want to get involved in the first place. A good example of this is right at the beginning when she meets Keita, thinking that her life would be better complete with a boyfriend. She interacts with Keita exclusively because he’s fairly good-looking and imagines in her head that he’s from a family of importance and wealth, thus furthering her rose-colored glasses lifestyle. She’s also fairly lazy, stemming into a number of her personality quirks. If it’s not going to immediately benefit your lifestyle it’s not worth doing, including cooking (why cook when she can buy prepared food?) or cleaning (why clean herself when she can hire maids to do it?). Aside from her blossoming school career she stays at home, away from peoples’ expectations and where she can put her guard down.

“I’ve basically been alone up until now anyway.”

Because of her natural talent at virtually everything, she has a very can-do attitude about things that need to be done. She throws herself at new challenges and hurdles when they need to be tackled and goes for the gusto. She’s a trailblazer and a leader with tasks at hand, but Ichiko also has very little faith in others. She has an incredibly hard time opening up to other people, and never would she expect or anticipate someone being genuinely nice or friendly to her. She does not want to trust other people for fear of being let down and expects that if someone is nice to Ichiko, they just want something else in return. Ichiko always exclaims it’s a bother if someone tries to really get to know her. She’s mega popular with a million acquaintances but she actually ha s no friends in school that she can connect deeply with.

And of course, wealth to Ichiko is the catch-all answer to life. She believes that money can do anything and make anything happen, especially solving her problems. A few times in the beginning of the series she resorts to the “Money is the answer” solution to a few situations, even when they aren’t the most appropriate answer. In one instance it was incredibly offensive to Keita’s family, of which the details will be explained further later.

Although she acts in a very selfish, lone wolf manner, she picked this up as a defensive mechanism from a traumatic experience in her young life. When Ichiko was very young and in preschool or kindergarten (canon doesn’t specify which one), she acted very differently. She was a good girl, not only in behavior but in thinking. She had a very close friend, Kurumi, which ended up deceiving Ichiko. Kurumi turns virtually the entire school against her, to which Ichiko still had faith for Kurumi, thinking that she was still looking out for Ichiko and keeping her intentions in mind. Ichiko firmly believed that Kurumi was still a great friend, but she overhears a conversation where Kurumi flat out tells other schoolmates that she deceived Ichiko on purpose, manipulated, and betrayed her trust. Ichiko then got mad and became incredibly haughty back to Kurumi. It threw her off and made it seem like Kurumi's attempts to make Ichiko feel bad didn't work, which started her arrogant and rude behavior towards other people in order to protect herself. Ichiko did this simply to prevent herself from being betrayed again, and ever since then she never made the attempt to make a close connection, excluding her butler.

Ichiko has never known true hardship nor does she know or care about the feelings of others. She was pretty jaded already at the beginning of the series and it showed no sign of improvement. For someone who possesses an incredible amount of fortune, she leads a very corrupt and selfish life. Thankfully however, things change. Ever since the introduction of Momiji Binbouda into Ichiko’s world, she begins to change for the better. She begins to foster those deeply buried and neglected feelings of faith, trust, compassion and even love for others.

“Happiness is something that’s to be shared between people. It doesn’t matter how good the food you eat is, or how big the house you live in is, if there’s no one to share that happiness with, it’s like you don’t have any at all.”

Momiji Binbouda is a misfortune god. To Ichiko, she is the biggest threat to her fortune energy. And yet, Momiji becomes Ichiko’s greatest influence and her personal catalyst for a tremendous change. Because of Momiji, Ichiko starts to realize all sorts of wonderful things her life has been void of. Throughout literally dozens of instances in the TV series and in the manga itself Momiji is always pushing Ichiko and challenging her to become a better person. She is always presenting opportunities for Ichiko to grow into a more charitable and happy individual. Momiji’s misfortune stymies Ichiko’s lifestyle, and it’s obvious the biggest hurdle Ichiko had to face was Momiji herself. However, Momiji’s presence and influence helps Ichiko realize that there are in fact more wonderful things in life besides always making oneself happy.

Suwano is Ichiko’s butler, and to Ichiko she is one of her most cherished treasures in the world. Ichiko’s parents neglected their daughter when she was very young and eventually they moved away from her. It was Suwano who took the role of primary parent to raise Ichiko and treat her as his own daughter. Ichiko isn’t that ungrateful to ignore this; in fact at the start of the show Suwano is Ichiko’s closest kin, her best friend and only pillar of support. However getting her to admit this is tough for Ichiko. In the very first episode and chapter, Suwano has a heart attack and is rushed to the hospital. It is also Ichiko’s birthday, so instead of supporting him, she is at home, wallowing that he dares miss out on her special day. Of course Ichiko isn’t that heartless as she expresses grief, but Momiji presents the opportunity (unintentionally!) for Ichiko to use her own fortune energy to save Suwano’s life. After that she is able to tell Suwano just how important he is to her.

Keita is another important person to Ichiko. She tries to get cordial with him initially on false pretense, in that he is hot and he’d be perfect for her good luck lifestyle. She eventually finds out that Keita’s family is dirt poor and they have much monetary hardship. However their family including Keita himself are all smiles and all warmth, of which pisses off Ichiko immensely. She throws money at them and speaks condescendingly that money is the answer to all their problems, and in the process gravely offends Keita’s family. She is kicked out of their home and Ichiko is livid, because this poor as dirt family has all these wonderful things like togetherness, empathy and inner happiness that her rosy life lacks. However Keita eventually becomes another person of great care for Ichiko, helping her realize how to show empathy for her fellow human and compassion.

Ranmaru Rindou and Nadeshiko Adenokouji are two of Ichiko’s closest friends. Both of their initial meetings are very antagonistic as they both find Ichiko’s actions and personality repulsive. However they both have problematic situations that Ichiko can relate to very, very well. Their parents each force their daughters into a lifestyle that importantly denies them of their happiness. Ranmaru’s father tries to make his daughter manly, with a manly resolve, despite her wish to also try to be more girly once in awhile. Nadeshiko’s family is that of modern nobility, so she is trapped by her family’s customs and traditions instead of being able to do as she wants. This resonates in Ichiko as her parents were never around and she loathes it when parents try to force their own ideals onto their children without their consent. She challenges their parents directly, which eventually helps their parents realize that the happiness of their children is more precious than enforcing their ideals onto them. Ranmaru and Nadeshiko realize Ichiko’s pain and her goodwill underneath that sour exterior, so they deem the good luck girl a very good friend and stick with her.

Abilities/Powers:
“It’s over 9,999,999!” Fortune Energy: Ichiko possesses an abnormal amount of fortune energy. Literally the amount she has within her is on par with that of the gods! Because of this she never had to work a hard day in her life. Everything will come up her way, like successfully evading mortal attacks from monsters at the nick of time (most monsters, anyway…) and finding food more often. If she has a tool that can somehow extract her luck, she can use it to perform miracles, like bringing people back to full health from the brink of death.

Martial Arts: Ichiko is a black belt! It’s not specified what mastery it is but it looks like Judo or Karate. She’s very capable of handling herself in a fight.
Items/Weapons:
Keystone necklace: A necklace with a pretty gem on it. The gem is a keystone, and as long as Ichiko remains in direct contact with it, the keystone will prevent Ichiko from draining Fortune from others around her. Without it, she will continue to inadvertently drain people of their fortune energy. Kind of a bad thing to do to her neighbors in Haven.

“Jazz the Hyper” Rosaries (2): A pair of rosary bracelets with spiritual energy poured into them. Depending on where they are worn they enhance the physical attributes of the body part. For example, wearing them on the ankles makes you run faster, wearing them over your wrists make you swing your arms faster or punch harder, or even holding them in front of your eyes increases your eyesight capability.

[ Ahh, the sound of a newbie finding their way into Haven’s open arms. A figure comes into focus on the feed. It’s a girl, and she stares at the device and picks it up. She looks off camera as she is being explained by her roommate that she is currently broadcasting to everyone else, among other things. Standard Haven procedure, really. ]

Hah?! Yao corporation?! Monsters?! Everyone’s watching me right now? [ Sharp snap to the camera as she gives off a scary, frightfully intimidating glare: ] Don’t fuck with me!! Your lies are getting even more and more ridiculous! Obviously you’re in cahoots with that stupid Misfortune God! Just take me home already!

[ And with that she violently chucks the device down onto the ground. It crashes and turns off.
A short while later, the feed turns back on. This time the previously crazy-angry girl is wearing a very pleasant smile, facing it fully with her hands neatly tucked on her lap. ]

H-Hi there! I’m Ichiko Sakura, and, boy, that certainly was some thrilling gut-wrenching acting, right? Ha, ah ha ha!... [ She starts to laugh nonchalantly but it’s stifling… She scratches her chin sheepishly. She’s not the best liar. ] Um, so hey, if anyone knows a few clues on the way out, then we should totally work together! I’m pretty new here, but I have a knack for finding my way out of things, so, let’s all work together, right?
Sample Entry Two:
I want to go home. I really, really want to go home. Ichiko stares down to the bottom of the well. She is alone, and she is sullen. Her roommates are weird. The residents of her apartment are weird. There is virtually no food, definitely no electricity, and Ichiko’s curiosity led her to the entrance of the tunnels earlier. Sure enough, there were monsters afoot as well. They scare her. This whole place scares her… At least, she thinks she’s afraid. She is supposed to feel fear and dread with a heaping serving of anguish, but there’s this annoying, gnawing feeling in her gut like something is off. And certainly this whole place is off! Massive death experiments, no writing permitted, people vanishing as mysteriously as they appear—there’s not a shred of normalcy in all of this.

Ichiko’s thoughts drift to back home. Her spacious bed, her air conditioned apartment, her pantries full of junk food, and then she thinks about Momiji, then pulling on Momiji’s hair and hitting her because she was being annoying about something to Ichiko—

“Gaaah! You stupid flat chested Misfortune God! I’m in the middle of nowhere and yet I still think about you!” Ichiko suddenly screams, slamming her forehead against the lip of the well. “This is definitely a curse! This is definitely your doing! You’re the reason why I am stuck in this retarded world! Gaaaaaah!” She hits her forehead against the well one more time and holds it there. Is it truly fear that she feels in her gut?

Ichiko chuckles as she stands up again, rubbing the quickly-forming bruise on her forehead.”Ha! I’m in a real pickle here and all I can think about is that poverty-stricken idiot. What’s wrong with me,” She chuckles again in a more boisterous manner. “Alright!” Ichiko exclaims suddenly, quickly pulling up a bucket of well water. She’s suddenly in high spirits, accompanied with a sharp look and a determined smile. “Momiji Binbouda, don’t get too lazy at home,” She announces to no one in particular, “I’m going to find a way out of this dump, and when I do, I’m going to make you regret sending me here in the first place!”

Personality:
Not that you'd be able to tell she's been through even half of the above at a glance, as the most obvious thing about her tends to be her rather upbeat and energetic personality in complete contrast with her past. Being orphaned (shhhh, she thought she was an orphan at the time) then being a child soldier in one of the most brutal wars of her countries history (which then turned into the near-apocolypse!) has done surprisingly little to dampen her spirits in the long run.

Much of this comes from a surprisingly strong will to fight, her entire motivation for joining the army stemming from the raid on her hometown when she was little. After what happened there she'd promised to overcome her fears and gain the strength to protect those she cares about. Despite her initial inexperience she's still willing to throw herself into battle for the good of her country, and upon realizing the truth that the cause of the war is nothing more than the whims of a madman she's brave enough to help take a stand against her own country, disregarding the fact that she's still completely outclassed by the more professional soldiers of the Grado military. Not that she isn't nervous about this, she's brave and slightly impulsive, but not stupid. To her though, it's simply the right thing to do as a soldier.

What allows her to hone this sense of determination into something great is an equally strong drive to improve, relentlessly practicing after she switches sides and constantly looking up to the more experienced knights in the group, hoping to one day become as great a knight as the likes of General Duessel. And despite her prior inexperience with warfare, it's the combination of her efforts and at least some degree of talent that allows to improve from an eager but slightly clueless recruit who can barely hold a lance into a surprisingly formidable knight in her own right, able to hold her own even against Grado's best or the monsters of Formortis' army. Potentially even improving her skills to the point where she's entrusted with one of the countries Sacred Relics, the greatest of all weapons with the power to defeat even one such as Formortis himself. Specifically, either the Ice Sword of Jehanna: Audhulma, the Winged Lance of Frelia: Vidofnir, or the Black Axe of Grado: Garm.

Not that it's all sunshine. For starters she can be a little stubborn at times, once she's set her mind to something it can be a bit difficult to talk her out of it. In addition she tends to ignore her own problems somewhat, opening up about her past and her problems only rarely and only to those who've earned a great deal of her trust. And while certainly brave, her nerves aren't quite as rock solid as her more experienced companions. Although with an entire war under her belt, she's been hardened somewhat to the realities of combat and warfare as well as its horrors.

She tries not to dwell too much on that last part, but for all the drive she may have to fight for what she cares about, a full scale war is not an experience she's keen on ever repeating. Not that she regrets her involvement in it, but she's been through far more than your average soldier would have had to deal with. Technically being a traitor for most of the war wasn't the most enjoyable feeling in the world either.

Not that any of this diminishes her will to protect others. To her, that's what being a soldier, a knight is truly about. Fighting to protect those she cares about and those who cannot fend for themselves, this is the belief that drives her forwards even now and where she draws the strength to stand against anything and anyone that threatens her friends. Even her own country. Even the Demon King.

Even her own Emperor.

Abilities/Powers:

The first thing to note is that Amelia has no real powers to speak of, but that doesn't mean she's helpless. Far from it, actually. The War of the Stones was a harsh teacher, but those who survived it walked away with truly exceptional capabilities and Amelia is no exception.

First and foremost is her physical condition. She's able to maneuver in an astonishingly heavy suit of armor with surprising ease and for extended periods of time without becoming seriously fatigued, even while carrying multiple weapons on her person. Agility, strength and endurance, she has all three, although while exceptional they do not reach a truly superhuman level.

In addition to this, Amelia's overall skill in personal combat is extremely exceptional for a girl her age. Throughout the war she's obtained a solid grasp over a fairly impressive range of weapons. Lances, swords and axes are all within her ability to wield and wield with terrifying effectiveness. Of particular note though is the lance, the weapon she first learned to use and her skill with which is virtually unmatched by most other knights. Furthermore, knights are generally expected to have skill in both thrown spears such as javalins and throwing axes, although she has none with her at the moment.

(A note to the above, her exact skills depend on the players choices. In this case, she's played as a General with an S in lances and an A in both axes and swords, as a character can only attain Rank S with a single weapon type.)

Lastly it's implied she's able to learn new skills as an exceptional rate, given the short timeframe in which she's able to develop the above skills. (The entire war is implied to take less than a single year, start to finish.) That said, it's somewhat less dramatic than the above abilities.

Items/Weapons:

We'll start with what she's wearing! Mostly because it kind of stands out. Ok, it really stands out because she's wearing a rather impressive suit of armor, although her own is more of a reddish orange color. It's big. It's heavy. And it's very, very durable, meant to shrug off most physical attacks fairly easily. It is however ultimately a mundane object, and doesn't offer much protection against magical attacks. Underneath which she's just got a simple tunic and a pair of pants on. Pretty straightforwards really.

She wouldn't be much of a knight if she didn't have a couple of weapons on her though now would she? The most important of which is her Silver Lance! A fairly hefty polearm made of silver, which apparently in Magvel holds one hell of an edge instead of being soft and squishy. It's an exceedingly well made weapon, durable with a razor sharp point and all around high quality craftsmanship.

And no self respecting knight would be caught dead carrying a single weapon, as there are some cases where a lance is a bit too clumsy in addition to the ever present threat of being disarmed. Her next item is a Silver Blade, a fairly large two-handed sword of similiar quality to her lance. It's heavy. It's sharp. It's shiny.

I'm not quite sure if her armor counts as an item by itself or not, but if it doesn't then her third item will be a Body Ring! A simple magical item that while worn, improves her overall physical condition slightly thus helping compensate a bit for the weight of her equipment or whatever else she's carrying. Not the most powerful artifact to ever exist, but plenty handy for somebody carrying the kind of heavy gear she so often is!

Sample Entry:

[Amelia's sitting next to the ruins of a largely unimportant house, her gauntlets removed and set to the side so she can actually fiddle with the strange device she'd found on her person. As for why she had it, hell if she knew. For that matter, hell if anyone else knew.

But it was there, and after a short demonstration on how to use it by god she was going to use it. The video feed flicks on for a moment, an imposing heavily armored helmet filling the feed.
The voice that comes from said helmet is surprisingly young though, she couldn't be a day past 16.]

So um, I assume this is working... oh right! [She clears her throat for a moment, managing to sound a bit more business-like when she speaks again.] I'd like to take a second to introduce myself, my name is Amelia, of the Knights of the Grado Empire? I'd ask where I am but I get the feeling nobody else really knows much more about that than I do right now...

Instead I'll ask if there's anybody here that might recognize the name of my country. If there is, please speak up at once! [She can't be the only one from home here... right?]

Sample Entry Two:

The hell had she gotten herself into?

Being in something as horrific as the War of the Stones had certainly done plenty to prepare her for difficult situations, but this... "Haven" was quite unlike anything she'd encountered back home. Without even touching upon the subject of the some of the strange, non-functional objects she'd found or the unusual device she'd woken up with, or the mysterious circumstances surrounding how she even arrived here in the first place, the most unsettling thing was how... desolate it was.

A feeling that was only magnified by the way her armored footsteps seemed to echo into the distance, a near complete lack of any other sound being the only response to her presence out here. Something she'd already picked up on is that supplies were in considerably shorter supply than they'd been even in the war, and if she was going to survive she'd need to search and search frequently for food. Not just for herself but for others as well, it was the duty of a knight to do everything within their power to help others.

Taking a moment to rest she took a knee near the mostly leveled ruins of what had apparently once been a house, eyes scanning her surroundings and watching closely for any signs of movement. Thus far she hadn't seen... well, much of anything really. But it being this quiet was an intensely unsettling feeling and she intended to keep her weapons close at all times, even if there were little reason to wield them here they did quite a bit to help her remain calm. Simply a matter of knowing she could defend herself or others if needbe, and besides... they were some of her only mementos of home. A home she already dearly missed.

... that was quite enough though. Sitting here getting introspective was not going to get her or anybody else a meal to eat today and she pushed herself back to her feet, sighing to herself. If food was going to continue to be this scarce, she'd have to seriously consider leaving her armor behind on scavenging trips to conserve energy. A lack of resources was proving to be a much more formidable foe than anything else, and her armor was doing little to shield her from that.

Personality:
Opinions vary. Seimei's personality is like that of a kaleidoscope and depending on who's asked, the projection can range from extremely charming to downright vulgar. Somehow, none of these allegations are incorrect. For certain individuals, he behaves a certain way, and for others, it's entirely different.

For all of his distasteful attributes, it's easy for Seimei to maintain his best face. He's polite, intelligent, and possesses a fair amount of charisma. There are plenty of victims to be found under the weight of that charm. A couple examples can be found in his fighters, Soubi Agatsuma and Nisei Akame. The former, Soubi, a blank fighter whom he adopted, was told he would be reborn from the life he had before, unto a life of service under his command; "You'll have to rewrite not only your body, but your soul. Like a chrysalis concealing a butterfly." This adoptive process entailed carving the name "beloved" across Soubi's throat, described as 'a collar' by Seimei, making it impossible for Soubi to disobey him. Seimei craves complete and total devotion, with nothing warm to offer in return. The two are thought of as the ultimate pair among Fighters and Sacrifices because Seimei is unconditionally controlling, and Soubi is totally compliant. In order to maintain control, control Soubi willingly yields to to begin with, Seimei resorts to inducing physical pain, permanently scarring his body throughout. But, his mind isn't spared either. Seimei fakes his death (thereby 'giving' Soubi to his younger brother, Ritsuka), uninterested in his Figher's feelings on the matter, never mind his abandonment issues, proving that Soubi is nothing more than a tool for him to exploit in every way. As an earlier preface, Seimei even said: "Hearing you apologize, I like it. Seeing the loneliness on your face...I like that too."

Nisei Akame is his second Fighter, his true Fighter who isn't spared of Seimei's cruel ways despite the genuine love Nisei feels for him. "Pretty birds and cute dogs are always necessary. I love them. But I’d never treat a dog like a human." — Soubi being the pretty bird and Nisei being the cute dog, neither being of substance, but they make for a decent sight. Nisei was first ensnared by Seimei's charm almost right off the bat. "His assured voice and his smiling face that didn't give away his true intentions. His way of talking, only saying things I wanted to hear, everything fascinated me. If you could fall for someone at first sight, that's what happened at that moment." More than that, Seimei began making all of Nisei's problems disappear. Nisei was fearful of the final exams, and the next day the school burnt down. Seimei predicted the divorce of his parents, somehow, and spent a lot of his spare time playing games with Nisei. Games with underlying meaning, of course. When Nisei's powers began to emerge, Seimei invited him out on a lake for a boat ride and intentionally loses the ores so that Nisei's forced to use his powers, though they're underdeveloped, combined with Seimei's they're able to bring the boat to shore. A tactic used to embolden what their relationship should be — Fighter and Sacrifice. "From the beginning, this guy wasn't interested in me. From the beginning, it was a power relationship." Even fully aware of this, Nisei can't resist.

When Nisei is pitted against Soubi, Seimei doesn't join him. Although he's meant to take on Nisei's pain, although Nisei calls to him repeatedly, Seimei flat out ignores it. The fact that he fails to meet expectations means punishment is necessary, and Seimei is content to sit back and allow Nisei to fall into the enemy's clutches if that's what it takes for him to be better. Weak animals are nothing more than pawns, beasts meant to further his plans, however shortsighted they may be. "Don't get the wrong idea, Nisei. I'm not your sacrifice, you're my fighter." Seimei himself puts it best.

When Seimei fakes his death, his mother's reaction is strongest of all. She takes her sorrows out on her husband, insulting and measuring him up against Seimei, comparing their strengths and lamenting the fact that Seimei was supposed to protect her and Ritsuka. His mother isn't well either, but the control he had over her is immense. Nisei is able to walk right into her home and easily fools her into believing that he's Semei, and that he can't stay or properly return unless she kills Ritsuka. It's a near-miss, but a sickening example of highly-admired Seimei is, while she is nothing more than a vessel to him. He refers to her as a beast, stating that he and his mother are nothing alike.

During his time as a dead man, Seimei lived with two people. A young man named Nakahira, an older woman named Chiyako, and Nakahira's cat. Nakahira holds their older roommate in high esteem, and is rightfully suspicious of Seimei. With him spouting things such as: "A mother will do unthinkable things if she thinks her children might be taken away. She'd kill them, first. In order to prevent her children from being taken, she'd kill them and eat them. That's the deepest kind of love. to do something like that." when his cat gives birth, it's to be expected. Not only that, but while sporting a polite, humble mask, his cheeky side tends to peak. For example, he outright refuses to ask Nisei to stop referring to Chiyako as 'old' when Nakahira asks him to, claiming it's because Nisei is his friend...when in reality he simply doesn't care enough to ask.

Ritsuka, his brother, is the exception to all of his blatant cruelty, with only a few 'subtle' implications of his darker nature. More than once, Seimei mentions having a distaste for babies, finding them disgusting and of no real value when discussing the birth of his younger brother. But Seimei amends this by saying "This woman (their mother), she gave birth to a child just for me. She gave Ritsuka to me." He decides that he and Ritsuka are similar, so similar that Seimei decides the two of them are the only real humans on the planet. "Ritsuka is all I have", he professes, while it's inferred that Seimei's murdered Ritsuka's pet goldfish. He's obsessed to the point of casually demanding all of Ritsuka's attention, feigning his little brother on the phone to cancel plans, and disposing of a home-made item specifically given to Ritsuka by his friend under the premise of it being dirty.

Despite having a distaste for being touched, Ritsuka is also the exception to this. He once informed his Fighter at the time, Soubi, that being touched is physically painful. Described as obsessive compulsive, he refrains from eating in front of others, too, and refuses to share bedspace. Yet, he's seen not only sharing a bath with Ritsuka, but also his bed. Because it doesn't hurt to be touched by Ritsuka, Seimei doesn't mind indulging in physical affection. It's strange, borderlining incestual, but he doesn't take it quite that far. Seimei easily embraces Ritsuka, guides him hand-in-hand, and essentially shows no signs of being mysophobic at all. Accordingly, Ritsuka believes Seimei to be an admirable big brother, even though he remarks that something feels off at times.

More than a big brother, Seimei must act as a caretaker in lieu of their mother who is physically abusive towards Ritsuka. Seimei was always ready to protect him from her, willing to bring him to various doctor's appointments, play with him — virtually cover every base necessary.

Seimei defines love in many different ways. Aside from a mother cat eating her babies, he explains to Nisei that he needs to test Ritsuka's love for him because he's insecure. That love means forgiveness, and that if Ritsuka were to forgive how he behaved 'before' and accept how he is 'now', that would be the definition of love. His philosophy is extremely dark and twisted and threatening. He's described himself as weak and cowardly, saying how he strikes first, hard and to kill when cornered (or engaged in battle) due to those unsightly traits. For example, when he's attacked by Ritsu Minami/Soubi's former teacher, he not only gouges his eyes out, but leaves a blood message for Ritsuka on the wall.

Another example is, at an earlier time, Seimei tells Nisei to cut , Mikado Gomon's hair and rape her while he watches, for absolutely no reason. She was considered a kindred soul, and yet he couldn't produce any kind of attachment to her.

“For me,” she says, “For me and Seimei-san, there is nothing. We can’t quite figure out our own feelings, or other people’s. It’s also true for pain. But with a reason, we can understand. To be connected with other people and the world, we have only that. A reason is such an important thing. Everything can be summed up in a reason. But despite understanding how important a reason is for both of us, he didn't give me a reason. I have a grudge against him for that. It’s treason against a kindred soul.”

All in all, Seimei is best described as sociopathic. He's manipulative at his core, controlling, dominant. He can be very sociable and helpful, but his motives should always be kept in mind. Seimei would sometimes play video games with a group called Septimal Moon (a mysterious organization affiliated with the Seven Voices Academy, which is a school for fighters/sacrifices) and players on his server would always rush to his side for this and that. "The way Seimei plays, anybody would like him." In-game, he would use his body to protect inexperienced players to earn points, and he was very open to speaking to anyone who happened to approach. He would also resurrect players when they died, and refused to steal from treasure chests.

If there's anything at all to be concluded about Seimei, it's that he's steadfast in his convictions, believes himself to be very justifiable in all that he does, and is very dedicated to his personal goals.

Abilities/Powers:

Seimei is a sacrifice, which means during a fight against another sacrifice/fighter pair, he absorbs the damage so that his fighter — who is under his control, can attack without enduring pain. What makes him unique, is his offensive ability. Seimei's able to generate pressure in a room or over a certain area without much effort. This is typically accompanied by a sense of dread or negativity. Where a fighter uses spells to propel attacks and manipulate energy, Seimei merely affects the environment he's in as pictured here. The better he knows a person, the better this works.

Also because he's a sacrifice, Seimei has the ability to control whoever he carves his name into, thereby employing them as his fighter and making it very difficult (if not impossible) to ignore his wishes.

It isn't shown, but he's thought to be an extremely violent person when push comes to shove. He's able to gouge Ritsu's eyes out without receiving any damage, so he's a very capable fighter.
