Applications Two

APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED!
The next application opening date is Friday 16th January, 7pm EST.
The next application processing date is Friday 23rd January, 7pm EST.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.

While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

To see what we are looking for:
Canon Characters:

Mogget / Old Kingdom Series / Not Reserved

Name: Ena
Contact Info: alchemical @ plurk
Other Characters Played: Alphonse Elric, Cain Knightlord, Crona/Ragnarok
Preferred Apartment: None.

Character Name: Mogget aka Yrael, Eighth Bright Shiner
Canon: Old Kingdom Series by Garth Nix
Canon Point: Start of chapter 28, book one of the series (Sabriel). Just as the Abhorsen is about to fight Kerrigor, right before he gets freed for the second time.
Background/History: Here

Personality: Mogget is a complicated creature, to say the least. At first glance, he appears to be nothing more or less than a small white cat with unusually green eyes, but there’s a lot more under the surface. To properly describe what he is and why he is the way he is, it’s important to give a bit of background to the world in general. The series is set in a world that doesn’t ever get given a name, split into two countries that share a border – The Old Kingdom, where magic is the driving force behind everything; and Ancelstierre, a place much like England in the real world, where magic is believed a myth and nobody talks about the country Beyond the Wall.

There are two types of magic in the Old Kingdom. Charter Magic, which is unified and generally perceived as ‘good’ and Free Magic, which is extremely dangerous and generally only used by monsters or necromancers who are seeking to control the dead. The only exception to this rule is the Abhorsen, who is the reverse of a necromancer and who exists to combine Free and Charter magic to bind the dead into death again.

In the beginning of the world there were nine extremely powerful Free Magic elementals; Orannis the Destroyer, the Ninth Bright Shiner, tried to destroy the world. Seven of the other eight stood against him, and bound him, creating the Charter in order to protect the human life that would start to live in this world from then on. But the Eighth, Yrael, sat on the fence the entire time. When the fight was over, he was bound into servitude as punishment to the Abhorsen bloodline, and became Mogget.

Over the many generations that Mogget has been in service to the Abhorsens, he has grown extremely bitter and generally responds to most situations with sarcasm and a barbed wit. He seems to take a vicious sort of delight in the schadenfreude sort of humour, shown most obviously when he discovers the secrets of Touchstone’s past and holds it over his head by making cryptic comments to the other members of the party in order to make him squirm.

Scheming and manipulative, he is always looking for a way around any order he is given and any loophole that will allow him to be free again. It’s the bell on his collar which binds him into servitude, and only removing the collar can free him, so he spends quite a lot of time trying to convince the various characters to loosen it for him under a variety of excuses. On the few occasions he is unbound, he spends his time in a bloody and furious rage, attempting to murder the Abhorsen in revenge for so many years as a slave.

Despite this, his servitude does seem to have altered him for the better, although he’d deny it if ever confronted about it. In the final battle with Orannis (Book 3), he is unbound and told to choose wisely this time around. He chooses to fight with the Seven Charter spirits of his own volition, although the fact that Orannis asks him ‘why’ suggests that they may have been tentative allies in the past. His reasons for choosing to fight for the sake of good this time, however, are not as laudable as they could be. He states he’s only doing it because he likes living too much to let Orannis destroy the world, rather than because he cares about what happens to anyone or anything else.

He is an extraordinarily stubborn, and sometimes immature, creature, often standing his ground even if the result of doing so would be disastrous. For example, at one point Sabriel has ignored his previous advice and is being ambushed by armies of Dead Hands, he refuses to help until he’s being fed. Even as she’s fighting for her life, he complains about a lack of good fish and pretends to nap all because his opinions had been disregarded before. When he does finally help, because the nature of his binding means he can’t disobey a direct order from the Abhorsen, it’s with great reluctance and a lot of sarcastic commentary.

The final main factor of Mogget’s personality is a quirk that has undoubtedly come from being trapped in his cat form for centuries; he does sometimes forget himself and behave like an actual cat, enjoying being petted, a good fish, and the rather potent effects of catnip. If he’s caught out enjoying these things, he’s more than likely to take a swipe with his claws in retaliation and stalk off for a nap.

Abilities/Powers: Yrael is a free-magic creature that chooses to take the shape of a cat to Sabriel's eyes; however, it is revealed in the book that he appears as different things to different people. His other most common shape is an Albino dwarf with sharp teeth. His collar has a miniature Saraneth for a bell, which is a binding instrument of the Abhorsen - this keeps him bound to servitude and stops him from seeking revenge.

When unbound (with his collar off), he appears as a column of fire and is capable of massive damage, appears invulnerable to harm and is extremely sadistic.

Even bound he has a few powers. He seems to be able to appear from nowhere to be where he's needed, his claws can elongate and he ALWAYS lands on his feet.

His full abilities aren't really known, except that he is one of the Nine most powerful free magic creatures, so spells for almost any task come easily to him as part of his nature.

Items/Weapons: Collar, with a miniature Saraneth (bell) on the collar.

Sample Entry: [The sound of a bell echoed over the telephone, strangely dissonant as though its sound was meant for someone else, a toll of warning as a small white cat took up a perch on the bed apparently assigned to him in the run down apartment, and stretched luxuriously.]

Is it too much to ask for, for something interesting to happen around here?

[Not that he was really complaining. The absence of the Abhorsen could make any boredom worthwhile, the lack of that pull of servitude that made his soul thrill with a dark hope for possible freedom.]

Or at least a nicely cooked fish. Even a saucer of milk would be something.

Sample Entry Two: The thing currently known as Mogget stretched slowly in front of the fire, idly watching the flames dip lower and wondering if he might be able to convince the Charter Sendings to bring in some more firewood. The blasted things were always so uncooperative when the Abhorsen was away, refusing to serve him just because he was technically a servant as well. Pah! He might be bound into slavery, chained and shackled to a meagre portion of what he should be, but he was a far cry from a mere construct of magical marks.

Yet no matter how he tried, the Charter Sendings just refused to humour him. They had only lit a fire today, because the chill of the winter had begun and they wanted to make sure the House was warm just in case the Abhorsen arrived. Not to mention that they hadn’t fed him in over two months... just because he didn’t have to eat didn’t mean he didn’t enjoy it.

Feeling distinctly grumpy, Mogget curled into a tiny ball of white fur and closed his eyes again, deciding to nap until someone literally forced him from his comfortable spot in front of the fire. Sadly for him, that plan was not to be, as he suddenly became aware of a tugging deep inside himself. A pulling at the Charter Magic that bound him to the Abhorsen bloodline, almost painful for how insistent it was.

So, one Abhorsen had fallen into Death and another had taken his place. A new master for him to serve, and this one supposedly had been educated away from the Old Kingdom. All the other servants could be heard bustling in agitation about this development, Mogget only rolled his eyes and curled a little closer to the fire.

luke fon fabre / tales of the abyss / not reserved

[personal profile] fabrecated 2013-10-11 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality:

Luke's character and its development is perhaps the core of Tales of the Abyss's narrative. As a result, his character goes through rather substantial growth from start to finish as he learns the truth about himself, then must find some meaning to his life. For the first quarter of the game, Luke believes himself to be the son of the Fabre family, born into luxury and power. From his birth, he was prophecized to be a great figure that would bring unrivaled prosperity to his kingdom. He possesses a unique power, known as hyper resonance, that no one else has, and is also a Seventh Fonist - the holder of a special power that few can wield. Furthermore, as fiance to the princess, he will one day be prince regent. All these things culminate to make him a walking, talking embodiment of entitlement. His story has a somewhat dark twist to it though, as he was kidnapped during his childhood. The kidnapping scarred him so badly that he forgot all of his childhood memories, and basically began again with a blank slate at the age of 10.

Of course, the truth isn't quite as cut and dry (not that a back story involving kidnapping and childhood trauma is really all that cut and dry to begin with). Luke is not actually the real Luke fon Fabre at all, and instead is a clone, or a replica, created of the real Luke. He was returned to his family in the real Luke's place, and essentially took over his life. He has no memories earlier than that point, simply because he never had any memories from before that point to begin with. When Luke learns this, his very sense of identity is shattered. That, coupled with a series of tragedies that his naivety gave rise to, completely destroys his ego, leaving him struggling to piece together who he is.

Because of his "kidnapping," Luke lived a sheltered and privileged life, but always desired greater freedom and autonomy. He somewhat resented the people around him, but came to idolize his mentor and hero: Vandesdelca Grants. Throughout the beginning of the game, Luke blunders from place to place, believing him to be special and never quite understanding or empathizing with those around him. While his companions understandably look down on him as a result, Van takes advantage of Luke's naivety and manipulates him. By utilizing Luke's desire to be a "hero" himself, Van manages to trick Luke into destroying an entire city, killing nearly all of its inhabitants.

The destruction of Akzeriuth is a turning point for Luke, and a vital one. That, coupled with his discovery of who he truly is, ends his days of believing himself to be a unique, special individual who is above those around him. Instead, he spirals to the other extreme, questioning his worth and very humanity. He starts to see himself as nothing more than an interloper who stole the place of the real "Luke," who now goes by the name of Asch and generally blames Luke for everything that has happened. Luke also wishes to make up for the losses he's caused; though he recognizes he can never truly do anything to make up for all the deaths that resulted from his reactions, he begins to genuinely want to help others. The transition is hardly immediate though - while he is eager to become a better person, he often discovers he doesn't exactly know how. Half the time he overcompensates to the point of becoming too self sacrificing and not caring enough about himself, while the other half he simply doubts his own worth and ability to accomplish things.

This dichotomy is perhaps best shown through his relationship with his original, Asch. Throughout the game, Luke clearly looks up to Asch, but at the same time has deep feelings of self-loathing regarding what happened to Asch due to his own existence. While, of course, these things aren't truly Luke's fault, both can't help but feel rather conflicted about that. The two butt heads more often than not about inconsequential things, even as Luke shows signs of wanting to connect with someone who is essentially an older brother figure... albeit a very hostile one that doesn't seem to care much about him. Over time, Luke comes to realize that he isn't simply a replacement or alternate to Asch, and is instead his own person entirely. This gradual change in Luke's perspective towards Asch highlights his own growing understanding of himself and the fact that, regardless of his origins, he is an individual with his own needs and goals.

Essentially, Luke's character is one of extremes, that eventually comes together somewhere in the middle. He goes from entitled, arrogant teenager to self-sacrificing martyr, before finally realizing that neither extreme is truly necessary or himself. From believing too much in himself to too little, then somewhere in between. Of course, he can never transition completely from one extreme to another, so even during his beginning arc, he shows signs of compassion despite his otherwise uncompassionate behavior. Later on, when he's shifted to thinking too little of himself, his earlier personality also bubbles to the surface, reasserting itself suddenly before treating back to wherever sleeps below. Ultimately, all those things little things contribute to who Luke is, with all the events of the story coming together to make him recognize those different aspects of himself that he needs to accept.

Abilities/Powers:

In the world of Auldrant, everything is made up of Fonons, or special particles that constitute all different types of matter. Manipulating these fonons is how people use magic; for instance, manipulating a certain kind of fonon results in fire magic. Although Luke is not adept at using different fonons, he is a Seventh Fonist - he can manipulate the special seventh fonon, one that is not entirely understood. The Seventh Fonon has some relation to sound, but is also used to read the past and future of the very world. But most importantly, Luke's status as Seventh Fonist makes him able to use a very particular ability, known as a hyper resonance. While it usually takes two Seventh Fonists to create a hyper resonance, Luke can emit one on his own, making him both a dangerous tool and weapon. Hyper resonance, in essence, is able to break down matter on a molecular level, completely nullifying and making things cease to exist. The ability is hard to control and almost too powerful, as characters note that a mistake while using it can result in catastrophic consequences. It is Luke's use of hyper resonance that causes the destruction of Akzeriuth, as he accidentally uses it upon the pillar that holds the city up. The power is unreliable, to say the least, especially in the hands of Luke, a replica, who isn't able to wield the power as effectively as his original. He does learn to control it over time, however, though its applications are always somewhat limited.

Otherwise, Luke is a fairly skipped swordsman, skilled in the Albert style of swordsmanship. He's a left handed swordsman, a difference from Asch, who is right handed. He's able to wield his sword in various ways, creating a wide variety of different attacks and techniques - although he isn't an accomplished fonist, he is able to manipulate various fonons while using his sword, creating particularly devastating techniques.

Items/Weapons:

His canon sword, a fairly plain cutlass. At the point where Luke is being taken from, he also possess the Jewel of Lorelei, one of the two parts of the Key of Lorelei. Particularly, the Jewel of Lorelei possesses the ability to disperse fonons, meaning it can push away matter. Luke actually doesn't realize he possesses the Jewel at his canon point, since it's sealed within his body, but I'd like him to have it regardless if possible - its application will obviously be limited though, since there are no fonons to disperse within the setting of Haven.

Sample Entry:

Um... hey, is this thing on! I've never seen a fon machine like this before, so this is kind of tricky. Where's Guy when you need him...

[ the red haired boy on screen pauses, letting out a slight sigh as he fiddles with the machine a bit more, before finally deciding to just go forward with what he has to say. ]

Anyways, if it is on, you can hear me, right? I just want you to know... you have the wrong person. I mean, you probably do. I don't think I'm the person you actually wanted. Besides, if I'm gone for too long, I'm sure my parents will get worried about me again. The least I can do is prevent that...

[ his mood noticeably drops from that line of thought. he owes a lot to his parents, especially since he's not really their son, so the last thing he wants to do is cause trouble for them again. but here he is, doing just that. ]

So, uh, what I'm saying is... can you send me back already? There's not much point in bringing someone like me here, and it's just going to cause trouble for a lot of people.

Sample Entry Two:

Though Luke had spent the past month just loitering around the manor and sleeping, he was still annoyed to find himself kidnapped or... whatever had happened. He still wasn't entirely sure on that, but he was pretty sure this was a kidnapping. A real one this time. Regardless, if he wanted to loaf around doing nothing at home, he should be allowed to do that! There was nothing of dire importance that he actually needed to do back home, but that didn't mean he wanted to get dragged away to wherever this place was.

This sucked.

It had been a few days since he'd first gotten here, and he still wasn't used to things. The accommodations were pretty miserable, and people didn't have much to eat. Sure, he'd sort of gotten used to living somewhat un-glamorously on the road, but this was still pretty bad... Though at the same time, he couldn't help but loathe himself a little for even thinking thoughts like that in the first place. He should have been trying to help the people around him, shouldn't he? But instead, he found himself unsure of what to do with himself again, wandering listlessly without a purpose.

He had once told Tear that he would find his own way in life, one in which he didn't constantly need direction and guidance from others. But where was he now? At a time where he needed to rise to the occasion and find a path for himself... he had no idea what to do with himself.

"This sucks."

He couldn't help but finally voice his complaint, kicking a rock he'd come across on the road. Thankfully, as he quickly confirmed for himself, no one else was around to hear his somewhat half-hearted outburst. He thought he'd manage to come far since he'd led to Akzeriuth's fall, but perhaps his growth hadn't been as pronounced as he'd liked to think. Instead, all he could wonder was what Asch would do if he was here now, in his place. Or what Tear would tell him... or even Jade. Was he that dependent on his friends to guide him?

Gritting his teeth, he finally spun around no his heels, determined to prove that wasn't the case. He didn't need to prove anything to anyone else: no one else was here, after all. But he still needed to prove some things to himself. He might have stopped Van, but he hadn't done that on his own - a fact that had sunk in more and more over the past few weeks. Now was his chance to really do something, even if he wasn't sure what that something was. If this world needed saving... or help... or something... then he'd do that!

Or, well, he'd try, at least.

slight spoilers from the most recent chapter below!!!

Personality: Bon gets shit done. The end. Period, exclamation point. But no, really though, in all seriousness-- Bon, or Ryuuji Suguro, has a very killer work ethic. Everything he does, he does seriously. He's not the type to half ass anything. He's more the type to give whatever he's working on, whatever he's doing his full attention. Because that's the type of person he is. He grew up around people with strong morals and a dedication to never give up on their dreams. Which, in turn shaped Bon in to who he is today. He's very passionate about the things he does. He doesn't take anything lightly either, he commits to everything one hundred percent.

He gets slightly-- no. Slightly is probably an understatement. He gets really annoyed when people don't take their education seriously, or take things for granted. He especially dislikes people who skate right on through life, or people who visibly show that they don't really care about doing anything. He gets very irritable with others who don't really show any interest in helping out with group projects as well. Take Takara for example. The guy doesn't contribute much of anything to their cram sessions, and he just sort of sits off to the side when they're testing their knowledge and skills out in the field during little missions. He only helps out when it's absolutely necessary. And that pisses Bon off to the extreme.

The one thing that pisses him off the most is when people look down on him. Sure, he has the tendency to take things a little too seriously at times, and be stern more than he should. But that's just how he is. He's a teen dedicated to fulfill his duties as an exorcist. He has something to prove to everyone and he'll do anything he can to prove it. He wants to show the world that he isn't just this kid who was born into the cursed temple in Kyoto. Everyone always looked down on the temple after that night, and while he shouldn't have taken it personally, he did. He saw how hard his dad had to struggle to get donations to keep the temple alive, let alone making sure that the temple's followers stayed faithful. The people of Myou Dha mean a lot to Bon and he considers them all apart of his family, even if they aren't exactly blood related. Because of this, Bon decided to become an exorcist. And he didn't stop there, oh no. He made it his dream to get strong enough in order to defeat Satan. If he could do that, then he could bring honor back to his temple. No one would have to struggle to make ends meet ever again.

Bon has an incredibly short fuse. It doesn't take all that much to set him off either. It's usually his short temper that gets him into tight situations too. He usually gets into a lot of fights with Izumo and Rin. Most of the time it's over petty things, things they normally don't agree on. But he's never gotten physical with them, well... with Izumo at least. He grabs her collar at one point, but that's as far as he goes with her. With Rin though, it's different. They've gotten into a couple of fist fights. But they seem to understand one another differently afterwards. He's at least able to set his differences aside in order to work with the other person when he needs to. He and Izumo are constantly at each other's throats, but he can at least act cordial when he's around her.

He also has the tendency to be incredibly close minded. He has his own assumptions and sticks with them unless he's verbally or physically proven wrong. He's very stubborn when it comes to changing his belief on something when he's already made his mind up about something. A good example of this would be his friendship with Rin. After he found out that the other was a son of Satan he hated Rin's guts, especially when you take into consideration that when this happened they were starting to be on alright terms with each other. But it didn't stop him from feeling completely and utterly betrayed. After finally coming to an understanding, with Rin proving to be more than just a son of Satan, they were able to move past it and salvage what little friendship they had left. Rin helping take down the Impure King also helped cement things back into place too.

Once you get past his tough exterior, Bon's a pretty decent guy! He looks like someone who could fuck your shit up, but he cares deeply about his friends. If any of them were in trouble he'd do just about anything he could to help them. He doesn't take the word "friendship" lightly. If someone needs his help, he'll be there. Which... sort of gets him down in the dumps once he's realized that one of his closest friends, a brother actually, betrayed him and everyone else. He takes it personally. He wasn't there for his friend when the other needed him most. However the case was. Which is why he personally feels like he needs to drag Shima back to True Cross.

Bon also has the tendency to worry about how often he glares. He's also very much a neat freak, and spends his days off cleaning when he can. He's very good at memorizing and is a really great multi-tasker. He's good enough to focus on chanting while drawing what he needs to in order to get his point across out on a pad of paper.

Abilities/Powers: Bon has incredible memorization skills. When he was younger he used to listen to his father (the highest priest of the Myou Dha sect) chant sutras. After only hearing one certain chant twice, he was able to memorize the entire sutra and repeat it back to his friends without fail. He is also able to recall vast information from books, bibles, and what have you if he's read it enough times. Because of that he was able to recall the entire Gospel of John to find the demon's fatal verse during the exwire certification exam.

This brings me to my next point. Bon is an Aria and Dragoon in training exwire. An Aria is a type of exorcist that take on the utilization of fatal verses. Fatal verses are phrases that are found in the bible and other holy scriptures. Each demon has one fatal verse specifically assigned to them based on build, make, or what have you. Because of his expert memorization skills, Bon has a vast knowledge when it comes to fatal verses. But of course, there are certain demons he doesn't know the specific fatal verse to, so, half the time he has to recite the entire chapter(s) that pertain to the demon in order to get something to register. There are also other sutras he uses solely for protection.
"On basara gini nehatana sowaka." - a barrier that helped Bon block and intercept an attack from Rin.

On basara gini hara nehatana sowaka hikougoshin no in" - a barrier that helped Bon block an attack from Mamushi's Naga.

Dragoons on the other hand are a type of exorcist that fight demons using modern weaponry, such as firearms. All this means is that Bon is somewhat familiar with his way around guns. He's probably capable of using them, if he has to since it's mentioned that he goes to practice every now and then. But he has yet to be seen using them in canon, in the manga at least.

Another thing worth mentioning would be his familiar, Karura. Karura is a demon like phoenix which has the ability to use a strong amount of red flames to incinerate almost everything. He inherited Karura from his father to help destroy the Impure King. It isn't really known if he ever plans on using Karura in a fight because you don't really see the demon after that point. Nor do you see Bon ever mentioning having magic circles (which is something one would need in order to summon a familiar with) on his person either. It could be a possibility that Karura acts just as freely as Rin's familiar, Kuro, does. -- which would eliminate the need or use for magic circles. But for now, not much is known.

Items/Weapons: a sketch pad & marker, his beads, and a headband.
While I am aware Bon wouldn't be able to write anything down on said sketch pad, he wouldn't use it for that. He would use it for it's actual purpose - sketching and doodles.

Sample Entry: a zombie apocalypse meme @ bakerstreet.

Sample Entry Two: Empty. He felt completely and utterly empty, and cold. He was kind of hoping that this was some horrendous nightmare that he'd wake up from in five minutes. But five minutes came, and passed. He didn't really flinch either when Yukio put his hand on his shoulder. He hardly felt it he was so... so wrapped up in his own little world. He's usually not like this, he's usually attentive whenever Okumura-sensei talks to him. But he has a good excuse.

His best friend-- no. His brother betrayed him and the others, and for what? Shima never gave a reason. He ignored them so diligently as he gave them his parting words and hopped into the helicopter.

Thank you for trusting me until now!!

What the fuck kind of bullshit parting was that?! He can't even remember giving the command to curl his fists, but they seem to do it so seamlessly on their own. There were so many questions that bubbled up inside of him, just like the acid bubbled up in his stomach. Why? Was Shima really willing to throw away everything they've been through?! Apparently he was. Apparently their friendship didn't mean a damn to the other. He gritted his teeth as he tore his gaze away from the helicopter that grew smaller and smaller the farther it got.

No.... no he couldn't blame Shima for this all on his own. Shima didn't deserve all of the blame, he was partly to blame as well. Shima-- Renzou was his best friend and he didn't even know when the other started calling out for help. Help he never got from Bon or Koneko. So instead he turned to someone else for help. Someone the other felt like he could trust. He was too busy worrying about everything else, that he didn't even stop to worry about his friend. And he hated himself for that. And--

"Suguro-san, we've... we've got to go." Yukio said as he gently shook Bon's shoulders.

"Ah, sorry Okumura-sensei." Ryuuji murmured. And with that he tuned out the rest of what Yukio had to say. He rubbed furiously at his eyes, freaking dust, as he turned around to join the others. He was going to bring Shima back, even if it cost him his life. He'd do it. Because that's what friends do. He'd go through the depths of hell to help his friends out. Even if it meant killing Shima in the process of doing it. He'd be killing apart of himself, as well. But he'll deal with that when he has to cross that bridge later on.

Character Name: Arkady.
Canon: FreakAngels.
Canon Point: Episode 084, Page 3

Background/History:
23 years ago, 12 strange children were born in England at exactly the same moment.
6 years ago, the world ended.
this is the story of what happened next.

(additionally, Book Two and Book 3 and Book 4, plus Arkady's page.)

Personality:
overview.
“Arkady’s gonna seem a little spacey to you. And the truth is, she’s not in her head much. But don’t be fooled: Sometimes she’s an acid casualty, sure, but sometimes she’s sharper than anyone has a right to be.”
There's not a single person who understands the inside of Arkady's head--and that's saying something, since eleven other people regularly see inside her head for themselves. She spends more time in her head than in the physical world most days, but the more she detaches from reality, the more she loses herself. Once upon a time, Arkady was incredibly sharp. One of the smartest of the group, even. Part of her still is, but a larger part has been lost at sea for years in the expanse of the world their mutual powers ('The Package') opened her up to. The fact stands, though, that whether she's lucid or off in Never-Neverland on any given day, she (more than anyone else) is the glue that sticks their ragtag group of freaks and fuck-ups together.

crazy.
“Okay, Kirk. Want to have breakfast? I might have some food at home, unless I forgot or it’s in the future.”
From the very start, it's made clear that Arkady's 'not all there'. Kirk (a fellow FreakAngel) finds her in the market, where she's gathered a crowd. He reminds her that she promised she'd skip the market this week, because last week she told three people the exact day, hour, and minute in which they'd die. Arkady, however, remembers none of this, insisting that everyone knows it's impossible to see the future. That was clearly one of Arkady's particularly bad days, as it's one of the very few times she's shown to legitimately forget chunks of time like that, but the point stands.

As it turns out, she wasn't always like this. Even as recently as six years ago, she was absolutely brilliant, one of the finest minds among them. That fact stands, but in a slightly different way: The combined power that she and her friends released into the world put a spiderweb-crack in reality itself, plunging all of England into what could only be described as an apocalypse, and of the eleven that remain (one was exiled), she's the strongest. And for that reason, when the others each have jobs (Miki's the castrating consultant, Caz builds solar panels for seagulls to fuck in, and Kait jerks off to cop shows.... Alternatively: Doctor, engineer, and one-woman police force, respectively), Arkady's job is "up here", as she puts it, putting a finger to her forehead. The problem is, the more she stretches her mind, the more detached she becomes from reality.

The 'breakfast' quote at the start of this section is legitimately the most telling quote to ever exist, for her. Things as crucial as basic human needs--sleep, food, staying warm in the cold--are only a blip in her peripheral, coming to her full attention primarily when others are involved (like when she offered Kirk food). This is excusable with the sleep and food, since it's repeated multiple times in canon that FreakAngels technically need almost no sleep or food to sustain them... However, while they're still fully susceptible to such things as hot and cold, Arkady wears a thin-to-the-point-of-transparent skirt and only recently has been persuaded to wear underwear underneath. She wears this day and night, in the hot and the frigid rainy cold. It's like she doesn't quite process that it's cold out, like she isn't firmly-enough hinged in reality to grasp that. On top of that, she isn't even entirely hinged into place on a three-dimensional scale. For Arkady, the past and the future are often interchangeable with the present. Like rather than visualizing time as a timeline, she visualizes it as a messy pile of rubber bands, some farther to one side, some deeper in the pile, all different colors and shapes... It's really just fun to look at.

It's important to note that Arkady knows she's nutty and is even willing to poke fun at it at times ("Because, y'know, I may be crazy, but I'm not that crazy."), but she doesn't like being actual crazy. She doesn't mind being seen as 'different' or 'a little off', but she doesn't like it when she feels herself start to slip. In the beginning, when Kirk tells her she was trying to see the future, she's legitimately concerned that she doesn't remember it. Then why does she push herself like that? You might be wondering. It's because when the group decided to give the soldiers chasing them a good hard 'leave us alone!' punch and they accidentally broke England as a result, it was Arkady who put the idea in their minds to start with. It was Arkady who got them thinking of what they could do if they joined strength. Mark is the 'villain' of the story, but even he just took and ran with what Arkady suggested initially. She feels responsible, in a big way. She feels responsible, so she's picking through her own head not just to see what all they're capable of doing, but also to see if they're capable of undoing the damage they did.

And then there's whatever this page is. I have no idea how to classify that besides 'why arkady why'. sob.

childlike.
You must’ve nodded off. Maybe you had a dream. I liked dreams.”
Almost all of Arkady's interactions with others, especially with people she doesn't know, have some childlike quality to them. It's in large part due to her simplistic world-view, and the way her mind doesn't conform to what others would immediately consider 'normal'. But the fact stands that not only do the children of the area treat her like one of their own (as shown in a scene at the local playground), but even her friends tend to treat her like a child.

Arkady's a magnet for protectiveness, for one. Pretty much everyone takes care of Arkady in one way or another (except for Luke, who says, "I'm not like the others. I'm okay with hurting you."). When shit goes down, Arkady's told to go to Sirkka's house and wait. "You know the rules," she's told. The fact that there are rules about Arkady hiding somewhere safe while the others deal with danger says a lot about how they view her. Along those lines, she's rarely consulted about important decisions. She doesn't mind too much, though. Karl asks her about it once, says he noticed that nobody asked how she felt, and she brushed it off with a, "You all know what I think." As if they didn't ask because her opinion was safe to assume. It really does make sense, though, that others keep in mind to protect her--she tends to get into childlike trouble, when left to her own devices. After the above 'you know the rules' scenario, they check in with her later and her response is a complacent, "I can has vodka." (Note that she doesn't actually get into trouble with the vodka, that's just something the others wouldn't have wanted her to get ahold of.)

On top of that, Arkady has an incredibly stunted sense of tact, of what should or shouldn't be said, and that's putting it generously. Thank god she's so sweet, because this little tact in a meaner person would end in misery for everyone. "You told three people when they were going to die. To the minute. With details." Says Kirk in Arkady's first appearance in Episode 8. That was something that Arkady apparently just did, casually and with no regard to how upsetting that would be, especially in the public market. According to Kirk, she then proceeded to tell KK that she (KK) was gonna shag someone from Lambeth, which would clearly piss her off, but Arkady just didn't even hesitate because derp derp Arkady. In a similar vein, she also tends to use her teleporting powers to warp into random places, not always conscious of privacy invasions. For example, warping into the center of a conflict, like she did with Luke and his ex plus a couple of times later on in the comic. Arkady as a whole tends to make no move to appear normal or to hide her powers, not because she ~feels superior~ but because she doesn't feel the need. There's evidence to support that this lack of tact is deliberate rather than absent-minded, but more on that later.

A lot of the time, her wants, needs, and priorities are a bit simplistic and childlike too. She loves animals and flowers and children. Her attention span is ridiculously short--the last thing she needed to figure out how to do was teleport, because nowadays, even the rest of the FreakAngels get whiplash from how many different things she does in any given five-minute span. That is, when she's not 'at work' in her mind. During those periods, she can go days without moving. The rest of the time, though? Her attention span's about the length of a short conversation. It's not that she necessarily is any kind of ADHD, it's just that with her ability to mentally be in more than one place at once, she has so many things going on at any given time that she jumps from one thing to the next pretty rapid-fire. In the span of 3 pages, she goes from turning Luke into a vegetable to waking KK up in order to save her from Kirk’s wrath to standing on top of a building shouting 'Hee!' to running through a street pondering Luke to bending down and saying hello to the 'fishies' in a pond.

She gets a pretty big kick out of being sneaky, especially for good reasons (like leaving surprise gifts). It's almost like a kid who sneaks a cookie out of the jar and giggles even though the adults saw him the whole time. Except Arkady actually isn't caught most of the time. As an example, she leaves a bundle of picked flowers for the new arrival Alice while she's asleep, but giggles and teleports away before Connor could come in and spot her. Later, when she meets Alice officially, she gleefully asks if Alice found anything when she woke up. When Alice says that Connor mentioned Arkady left flowers, Arkady practically tackles her in a hug. "Hee hee! You found them, you found them! Welcome to Whitechapel!"

Needless to say, Arkady comes on a bit strong for some people. With the teleporting into their general vicinity and her lack of a concept of personal space, she's definitely a lot to take in. Fortunately, most everyone can tell pretty quickly that she means absolutely no harm, so that makes it a little easier to handle. Still, some people take longer than others to get used to her lack of tact and her sudden bursts of childlike glee (such as when she rides with Caz in the water-delivery truck and pleads to be able to ring the bell. Once Caz agrees, Arkady's downright ecstatic and gleefully rings the bell all through town).

Many of her speech patterns are a bit childlike, too. "Hee!" is her go-to response for excitement, or even just a quiet, "Hee," when she's pleased. She uses terms like 'fishies' or 'chikkinz' (though I doubt that's said any differently than 'chickens'), she announces impending sound effects (like 'Boom!' before an explosion or 'Whoosh!' before she teleports someone), and she rarely uses big words. She reminds people of promises they made, as if a promise is some unbreakable universal force. And Arkady has been shown to tattle like a child, pointing to Kait and plaintively telling Miki, "Kait's being horrible to me!"

Arkady also has a few innate negative childlike reactions, too. In Episode 54, Arkady's called in to help police!Kait and doctor!Miki move a body, but she derp-teleports in before Miki can warn her, so at sight of the body she FREAKS THE FUCK OUT, all "AAAA A DEAD BODY!" and releases the chicken she's holding into the air in alarm. (She loves her 'chikkinz'. So much.) Later in that scene is another example of childlike emotional reactions: The chicken flies at Kait and she freaks and shoots, and Arkady flies into a rage, warping Kait clear out into the river for daring to shoot at the chicken. She brings Kait back, but not before pouting at Miki over it. Later on, when everyone's arguing over the fact that Kait's had what amounts to a hidden torture pit for people she considers criminals, Arkady's contribution is a loud, "IT SMELLS OF POO!" with her hands in offended fists up near her face. Everyone stops to stare at her, and she's like, "What? It does!" Nothing about agreeing or disagreeing with the pit in general.

adhesive.
“Karl, I’m the one that you all found with her face down in a puddle and a needle sticking out of her arm. When am I not going to be in favor of rescuing people? I wish you’d see things the way I do.”
Let's start with a sort of tie-in from 'childlike': Arkady loves everyone, or at least is incredibly accepting of them. Even the worst people she knows, she sees the good in them somehow. This could have a lot to do with being able to see into their heads, because no one is truly despicable once you can see where they're coming from in some way, but even in the flashbacks from when she was a kid, she was always the one who was really close to the others. She stuck up for Connor when people picked on his weight, and when she sat in the field and talked existential bullshit with Mark, their legs were casually entwined. But it's downright impressive, her capacity for caring about others, and even for outright protecting them. Like, Luke? Luke is a total douchenozzle (or 'wanker', as they called him repeatedly in canon), but she still made sure to interfere to prevent his death early on. Alice is another great example--Alice marched right into Whitechapel and tried to kill Connor, and even though KK and Sirkka cleaned her mind of Mark's control, most of the FreakAngels took quite a while to trust her. But where's Arkady? Oh, there she is, leaving flowers by Alice's bedside and whispering, "Welcome to Whitechapel."

Why is she like this? Probably a whole bunch of reasons, but the strongest one was put to words when Karl asked what she thought about taking in the starving strays from Shoreditch Park. She said, "Karl, I’m the one that you all found with her face down in a puddle and a needle sticking out of her arm. When am I not going to be in favor of rescuing people? I wish you’d see things the way I do." She's a strong believer in not giving up on others because when she overdosed at sixteen, they didn't give up on her. (How did that OD change so much, yet not come up until now? Probably because while the others all keep that in mind when they look at her, it's a lot less pressing to Arkady herself. She hates it when they treat her with kid gloves over the OD, and chewed Kirk out for it once in canon.)

But this section's called 'adhesive', not 'nice to people'. Because like I mentioned in the intro, she really is a large part of the glue keeping the group together. They may not look to her for leadership or solid advice, but without her, they'd be much more in danger of being ten life rafts drifting opposite directions in the open sea. In subtle but crucial ways, Arkady is the rope tying those rafts together. She has a knack for knowing what to say and who to say it to in order to keep everyone's heads in the right place. Like when engineer!Caz worries over whether she's throwing all of her effort into inventions nobody wants, Arkady links her arm through Caz's and tells her that everyone loves what she does. "You worry too much," says Arkady, resting her head on Caz's shoulder. And Caz feels better, because one thing Arkady never does is lie to placate you. The Luke scenario is another great example, one I'll go into more detail on in the next section, but while she had to threaten Luke in a big way to keep him in line, she turned around and told the others that he's 'staying out of trouble' so that nobody would kill anybody that day. She kept Luke in line without the others even quite realizing, which is more than any of the others could say for themselves. Also, in her little attention-deficit field-trip that I mentioned earlier, she woke KK on watch so that Kirk wouldn't catch her sleeping and then left flowers for Alice all in one trip. That's a clear case of helping keep people from fighting in subtle ways.

Even when she doesn't interfere, though, Arkady's always watching her buddies in some way. Making sure things go okay between them, it seems like. She watches Sirkka and Jack make up on the dock from a nearby rooftop, seeming very pleased that the two are finally getting along again. All in all, Arkady does what she can in the little ways to make sure all's well, and the other FreakAngels kind of lean on that without even quite realizing she does it.

sharp.
“As of right now, I don’t know when you die. You know why, don’t you? Never do anything like this again, Luke. I’ll know.”
She may seem childish and impossibly derpy much of the time, but she can sober up in an instant when she needs to. For example, when Luke tries to take advantage of his ex-girlfriend via mind control and Arkady teleports in to stop him. She warns him that a couple of the others are catching on to what he's doing, and that if he doesn't stop-... Essentially, she summarized exactly how the others were going to try him and he was going to lose his temper and they'd have to kill him. She told him he was going to die within 24 hours if he didn't stop, and when he told her to piss off, she mentally immobilized him and told him she'd do worse if he did anything like that again. This is all delivered with chilling clarity and absolute seriousness. On top of that, she can flip-flop back to derpy at will. In the middle of her serious time with Luke, his ex 'wakes up' and Arkady tells her she must've fallen asleep. To 'What's Luke doing here?!', she says, "Maybe you dreamed him." As if that's a totally reasonable explanation. Then back to serious to threaten Luke some more out of the ex's earshot, and then back to derpy when Luke leaves, telling him to 'Get those trousers washed. They're stinky.'

There's a lot of evidence toward the fact that, while part of the time Arkady's genuinely half-nuts, a lot of the time she's adopting the simplistic mind-set by choice. The fact that she can shift so quickly from serious to whimsical and back to serious is a sort of evidence to the fact that the childlike viewpoint of view wasn't a restricting condition so much as a way that she enjoys being. Life for Arkady is simple and straightforward, whether she's having an off-day and needs someone to keep an eye on her or whether she's entirely lucid. This ties into her lack of a tact toward what is/isn't okay to do or say. At a point after her canonpoint, she becomes a lot less of a nutter overall, and she still says the hard shit that people don't want to hear, she just says it with a bit more seriousness and clarity. That kind of supports the fact that, rather than being blissfully unaware of the fact that she's being tactless, she subscribes to the philosophy that it's not as big a deal as the person's making it. As a whole, nobody ever what she's thinking or planning, or even whether she's planning it consciously or just derping around.

I'd also like to note that Arkady's got some sass, when she wants to. In her very first appearance, when Kirk tries to tell her she said she'd 'give the market a miss this week', she says, "No, you said that." She also hates it when people treat her like she's disabled, especially those who've known her long enough to know better. On a more serious note, she's alarmingly good at making threats (and delivering them casually, sometimes almost sweetly), as shown with the Luke scenario. Lastly, while this barely counts as 'sass', there are certain things that make her fly into a rage. One example is probably exclusive to her canon environment: When she was 'at work' in her head and got a glimpse into the future for the first time in a while, she was furious (after the initial cringe and 'Ouch.'), throwing the half-empty bottle of vodka. "It's gotten worse!" She rages, meaning the fractured state of England. "And it's our fault because we did it!" That seems to expend all of her rage, but the explosive response still counts for something. I'd also like to point out the rage she unleashed when Kait shot at her chicken, which brings me to: The only damage done was a thrown bottle and a river-soaked Kait. Even when she's furious at something, it's incredibly difficult to push her to actually hurt someone or something.

Abilities/Powers:
overview.
She and the rest of the FreakAngels have what they call 'The Package'. It's the set of mind-based powers they were born with, combined with the physical manifestations of those powers: vibrant purple eyes and incredibly pale skin. They each have the Package in their own right, but when they combine forces (generally with the help of some sort of physical connection, like holding hands), they're exponentially stronger. The 12 of them together managed to punch a hole in reality itself, and though it was just over England and the surrounding area and waters, it was enough to do this to the skies and plunge the affected areas into a sort of time-warped apocalyptic zone.

Arkady's powers are strange, in that they're so much more advanced than the others'. To the point where, according to Luke, she could rule them all if she tried. Fortunately, she hasn't got the slightest intention of doing that. She's all about seeing what they can do... Using that to harm others isn't even a blip on her radar. Why is she so advanced, though? She has no idea, but it's later revealed that it stemmed from her OD experience as a teen. At her canonpoint she doesn't know it, but FreakAngels can't die. Instead, they seem to die, then go through a pseudo-dream experience and wake up with more of the Package 'unpacked', so to speak. She's the only person to have died so far (though she thinks it was a near-death, still believing death is a possible thing for her and the others), and therefore, she's quite a bit more 'unpacked' than the rest of them. As such, she feels that it's her 'job' to keep pushing the boundaries of the Package, and spends large chunks of each day in her own head. Still, she feels like they all can do what she does. As far as Arkady's concerned, they can do anything they set their mind to, even the others who haven't gotten as much practice as she has. They just have to, as she puts it, 'dig around in their head for the controls'.

teleportation.
Essentially, she can disappear in one place and instantly appear in another. She can also warp other people via physical contact (generally hand-holding or even a hug, she likes hugs), though this is something she only recently discovered. It's also shown that she can transport someone else independent of herself, like when Kait shoots at her chicken and she teleports Kait into the Thames. In the moment in which they're between points, it's shown in canon that she and whoever she's teleporting with are weightless in a pure white expanse.

This took a few months for her to learn how to do, though she didn't tell anyone because she 'didn't want to frighten anyone'. At her canonpoint, she's certain that physical contact is required to teleport someone else--she's currently plunging toward the street from multiple stories up, reaching for KK who is also plunging toward the street in an attempt to catch her, and if Arkady had any inkling that she could move them both without their fingertips meeting, she wouldn't be reaching nearly as desperately. However, after her canonpoint when she gets 'unpacked' a little more, she speculates that she doesn't really need to touch someone to move them. "I don't think I ever did. I just thought I did." However, I'm pretty sure that she's going to be constrained by the 'physical contact' rule while I play her unless something big happens.

telepathy.
The FreakAngels spend their whole lives in one another's heads, to the point where if she ever does get a castmate, permissions posts between them won't even be a thing like it will be with the rest of the game. It's just assumed, within the FreakAngels. (Which, in retrospect, will probably make her pretty lonely in an RP without them to mentally talk to. :C ) They can not just read minds, but they can plant images and such. Like, at one point, KK gets tired of explaining over and over again how something transpired, so she just tells them to pull it out of her head. Like a full-sensory video, I assume.

Now for the trickier part: All of this is entirely possible on non-FreakAngels, too. Yeah, the average civilian. Her saving grace in an RP context, I think, is the fact that she'd never use it to harm someone--and also the fact that if she knew the person didn't want her anywhere near their mind, she wouldn't even consider it. That being said, I'll outline precisely what she's capable of here in a few bullet-points.
  • Reading the minds of others, generally surface-level thoughts but sometimes deeper. This doesn't naturally filter in like with other FreakAngels' thoughts, especially not the deeper stuff. At most, unless Arkady tries, she'll only get a faint reading on emotions, colors, concepts, etc. A translucent sort of idea-feed, so to speak. She can choose to dig deeper, but FreakAngel code says that they should try to avoid doing that without good cause, e.g. thinking the person means harm. This telepathy even works with the dead. Not as well, of course, but it's shown in canon that Kait could get a flash of memory from a dead man's mind (she was attempting to see who killed him, for context), so someone like Arkady could definitely manage that and more.
  • Communicating mentally. It's commonplace with other FreakAngels, but she can still talk into the heads of civilians if she wants to, as shown by Alice. This made Alice cringe, so it's safe to assume that it hurts a little or even just feels a bit invasive, though Alice does get used to it as time goes on, even inviting it at some points. On that note, she can open up two-way communications and allow the person to mentally communicate right back.
  • Location. If Arkady can find your mind, so to speak, she can find you. This is usually signified by a sort of mental poke, very gentle but noticeable all the same. In order to locate someone via telepathy, she has to make that connection first. People may not recognize quite what that sensation is, but it's there.
  • Implanting pictures, memories, etc. She can put pictures (like a face, or more practically, a map) into someone's head, and it'll be there whenever they want it, strong enough for them to (for example) follow that map with perfect accuracy even quite a while after the transfer occurred. She can also show people things that have transpired, memories and such, but that would probably be even more uncomfortable than communicating telepathically, so I'd assume the receiver would feel like throwing up afterward.
  • Mind-control. Multiple times in canon, characters are shown to take over the minds of civilians. This is shown by a sudden white glow to their eyes and an absent look on their faces, as well as an extreme suggestibility. However, this is firmly against FreakAngel code and cause for banishment or even death, so the odds are about 99% that Arkady will never use it without permission from the affected party. (Or even with permission, I can just see it potentially being a CR point in a tough situation.)

Note again that I'll have a permissions post for all of the above, and I'll find a way for her to be unable to read the minds of those who OOCly opt out. I've had her in an RP before, so I know how to handle the OOC workings of such a sensitive power-set.

foresight.
Yeah, Arkady can see the future. However, the limitations to this render it almost useless a good chunk of the time. For one, reaching into the future really fucks with her head. It makes her so much spacier than usual, which is a feeling she isn't fond of at all. Plus (at least, this is how I handled it in the last RP), the NPCs are sort of 'outliers' to her foresight, so almost anything the NPCs decide to do can change the future as she sees it. Therefore, Arkady at best sees either the very near future or one of many possible eventual futures with incredibly hit-or-miss accuracy. That is, if she even tries to see the future at all.

static line.
I'm not entirely sure how, as they only did it once in canon, but the FreakAngels can enter into a state of stopped time. From what I gleaned from the one time they used it, they don't affect the world around them during the static line (as in, no stopping time just to put the people around them in embarrassing poses), and they usually use it to discuss things "instantly" and with no potential eavesdropping. The static line casts a sort of purple hue to the world around them, which Arkady thinks is pretty. I'm not sure how many FreakAngels are required to throw up a static line--it's probably possible with just two or three, but it would be too difficult to be worth it. That's just my speculation, though.

respawn.
FreakAngels aren't immortal, but close enough to it. Arkady, however, doesn't know this--it's discovered after her canonpoint. Essentially, they can't die, even if they shoot themselves straight in the head. They seem dead, but they experience a sort of dream-journey and conversation with their future selves, then they wake up more powerful (more "unpacked") than before. I don't think this will ever happen to Arkady, factoring in Haven's built-in respawn mechanics and my personal desire not to make her even more powerful than she already is, but I figured I'd include it anyway.

other.
This is the Miscellaneous Shit FreakAngels Do' section. More bullet-points? I'd love to.
  • Photographic memory. Arkady's actually weaker than the others on this one, drastically so, but a photographic memory is technically part of the package. I'd say that at her most lucid, her photographic memory functions as it should, but obviously if she's having a bad day in crazy-town, that would slip just like her actual memory itself.
  • Voluntary out-of-body fuckery. It likely has multiple uses, but the one repeated in canon is that she can focus and close her eyes and essentially leave her body on the ground and see England (or the world as a whole, if she stretches) from above. In this state, she can kind of feel where the country is most 'wounded', so to speak. Where their collective hole-punching has done the most damage. In a RP, that would probably translate to being able to feel if a mass murder is going on somewhere elsewhere, but not something as small as a single death.
  • Kait and Mark are shown to be able to shield their mind from detection, even by other FreakAngels. Arkady has never been bothered to try it, she loves people way too much, but she's technically capable.
  • Karl stopped a rainstorm with his mind. And this was before he got 'unpacked'. Arkady could technically do that too, if she really and truly put her mind to it. However, I strongly doubt that she ever will.

Items/Weapons: Nothing! You're lucky she's even bringing underwear.

Sample Entry:
Example One and Example Two from a previous game. I feel that the conversations she has are much better displays of her personality than the entries themselves, personally.

Sample Entry Two:
No. No, this isn't right. It's not right at all--Arkady's thinking even before she's really awake. She's thinking the kind of thoughts that normally would call for some sort of reply, some sort of 'Are you okay?' probe at her consciousness from Kirk or maybe Caz, but she doesn't expect one now. They aren't there. They aren't anywhere.

Nobody is.

Arkady supposes she'll just have to find them then. Or help them find her. She's not sure--she's never been this far from the others, before. Now she's on a bed, in a tall tall building filled with lots of people she doesn't know, people with food and showers so clearly they aren't from Whitechapel. She doesn't think they even know where Whitechapel is. But this place seems just as bad, doesn't it? Arkady's pulling away, pulling up, looking down on the town with her mind to try and understand.

What color is the sky? She can't look up, not unless she opens her eyes.

So she does, finally. She opens her eyes and slides silently out of bed, tiptoeing around the others in their own beds (she quite likes it here, she thinks, all of the sleeping people look so peaceful) to peek out the window at the morning sky.

Blue.

Arkady's lips press together, her expression torn between fascinated and distraught.

It's not supposed to be blue. Not anymore.

Background/History: here!

Personality:

Let's just immediately establish that Kanda Yuu is an idiot. When his friends tease/argue/BRAWL over it--... It really is because it's true, he just won't accept it.

Kanda Yuu comes off as an arrogant, short-tempered and extremely moody individual. It's a personality embedded in him since the beginning, and he's sure as hell kept it up through his years within the Black Order. He can go from reserved and brooding quietly in the background, to extremely agitated and.. well murderous at the drop of a hat; this capricious attitude often causes chaos amongst the Exorcists, be it comical or serious. If something must be said or done, he'll put it out there, otherwise, Yuu prefers to keep to himself. He and Allen Walker regularly come to blows due to clashing of opinion.. Often Yuu's poor idiotic manners, he's no gentleman, after all.

On that note, Yuu's attitude towards his friends could be called.. rough, to say the least. He's always been anti-social, and most have learned to respect that, knowing all too well persistent attempts to socialize with him will only irritate him further. As children, he and Alma Karma often fought over Yuu's reluctance to become friends with him, their disputes frequently ending in time-outs to regenerate and start all over again.. Not to mention pain and heartache for most of the Asian Branch's scientists. Froi Tiedoll often tries to connect to Yuu on a fatherly manner, but is met with an monstrous reception and a fist, or the edge of Mugen's blade, much to his dismay.

Disregard for those around seems to come natural; on many occasions, Yuu has openly stated or shown his willingness to abandon those who prove a hindrance during a mission or task, even if their lives are at risk, and more so if they are not Exorcists (Finders in particular, he doesn't like them much). Despite this, it is often him to ends up saving others just in the nick of time, and remains loyal to his team in times of distress. He's merely a mouthy grump, more so than a heartless bastard. His morals can seem pretty twisted at times, but they're in the right place. This often reflects out on the battlefield too; he's a lone wolf, and prefers to fight by his own plan. Though his cooperation truly can turn around a fight, be it in shielding someone, or engaging in combat while actually following the team's plan.

Things haven't always been ratty arguments and rainbows for Yuu though. He is a product of one of the Order's inhumane experiments to create more Exorcists to fight in the 'Holy War' against the Millenium Earl, Noah and Akuma; better known as the Second Exorcist Program. It was more like torture than scientific research, and even ended in Yu having to kill the first real friend he had, Alma Karma. In doing this though, Yuu expressed a strong resolve to live on. He's kept that will to live, even after the Black Order causing him more pain due to the discovery of Alma's Akuma-fied body under the Noah's assault on the American Branch.

He has feelings under all that ill-tempered mess, and did not present much ability to deal with them efficiently during his battle with Alma, only a violent sense of detachment to the situation; rather than answering any of Alma's questions, or even talking to him, he only focused on killing him again, resulting in his own abilities inflicting massive damage upon his body. His inability to cope with the situation appropriately and his own emotions, caused devastating results to not only himself, but to others around him as well, more specifically, Allen Walker.

Upon his return to the Black Order, Yuu has expressed a need to make something up to Allen and the others, after he send Yuu and Alma away for their final moments of peace together. For once, Yuu feels guilty about his actions, especially provoking the inner Noah within Allen to break through even stronger than even. Though his intentions are redemptive and show a desire to improve himself to help his friends (yes that's right friends), Yuu has in no way forgiven the Black Order for their mistreatment of Exorcists and Alma Karma.

He may not be a saint, and well, is still pretty much just as rude and short-tempered as always, but Kanda Yuu has become an Exorcist willingly this time with a new sense of purpose. Maybe, just maybe, it might help him understand others just a wee bit more...

Abilities/Powers:

Physical prowess and agility:  Yuu is stronger than an average human, and can move a lot faster and jump a hell of a lot further than a lot of the other characters within the series, even without the effects of his Innocence. He has been designed to be a formidable soldier after all; combine that with a ratty temper and little regard for how you're going to feel after a fight-- he can surely pack a punch.

Elite Swordsman: Perhaps its due to the nature of his Innocence, or that he grew up under the tutelage of Master Zu, but Kanda is an expert swordsman. Even when Mugen is not activated, he is exceptional at handling a blade, and can even fend off Akuma up to Level Four.

Artificial Enhanced Regeneration: Yuu can regenerate at a completely abnormal level; lost limbs, crushed organs, even rebirth after death-- he can bring himself back from it. It was recorded by the Asian Branch that his rate of regeneration takes him around 580 seconds until he is fit for battle (or forced Innocence synchronization in that case). He is one of the characters that is immune to the Akuma blood virus, and his blood contains amazing healing properties that even saved Noise Marie from brain trauma.

Mugen: Yuu's Innocence takes form of a sword that possesses the abilities to release illusions and increase his physical strength to a state both highly dangerous to both himself and the enemy. After returning to the Black Order after his disappearance, Yuu's Innocence took on a new 'Crystal Type' form from his own blood, which means he no longer has to worry about his blade being damaged, and it has become a hell of a lot stronger. He no longer needs to draw his finger along the blade to activate it, making his attacks a lot faster. As recently revealed, Yuu had long surpassed the critical points.

Some of Mugen's attacks and abilities include:

First Illusion; Netherworld Insects: The blade releases a swarm of angry insects to devour the opponent.

Double Illusion Sword: Mugen covers its scabbard and blade with a white supernatural energy, shaping both into two razor sharp blades that resemble a praying mantis' arms. This enables him to use Eight Flower Mantis; a sequence of eight energy slashes that takes form of a lotus once fully delivered.

Ascending Flower: This is where Yuu begins to use the power of his seal to a more hindering extent. The only way one would spot this before realising the increase in his strength and agility is by observing the shaping of his pupils as they separate into three dots in each eye, and darken after exhausted. Once activated, he can then use Triple Illusion which feeds directly off of Yuu's life force to increase his strength, or Exploding Spirit Cut, which is a powerful slash that separates into many other little explosions.

Fourth Illusion Style: His pupils split into four dots, and in exchange for more of his life, there is another dramatic increase in his strength and speed to a monstrous level.

Fifth Illusion Style: This is Mugen's final release; the blade changes colour and takes a tremendous strain on Yuu's body that eats away at his life force dramatically in comparison to the other Illusionary techniques. Yuu also enters a destructive state that that lacks control and goes completely 'berserk'. In this state he can also use Ripping Flash Claw, a technique that releases several sharp energy strikes upon the opponents

Items/Weapons:

Sample Entry One:  Sample Entry Two:

This is bullshit, This is complete and utter bullshit.

After much investigation, (see: kicking down doors to look for a way back to the Order and glaring odd strangers down in suspicion as he wanders through the streets) Yuu has finally come to the conclusion that this is most definitely not that beansproat's Ark, Headquarters, or just some weird-ass European town that he magically wandered into.

... Like that's happened before-- but this is just.. different.

He's been plagued with illusions all his life, they're nothing new to him, and he's adopted the will to ignore them regardless of the annoyance or how disturbing some may be. He's fought Akuma, grotesque, pitiful creatures that range from being a fucking hoot to slicing up to a pain in the ass. He can recognise them pretty damn easily-- these weird ass spectres and shadowy beasts scuttling within the darkness of the tunnels he passed, they're not Akuma, and they're certainly not products of his own screwed up brain.

He exhales a sigh as he stares down the chasm of the tunnel, various scraping noises, grunts, and snarls resounding from the passage, lusting for fresh meat. One problem though: he sure as Hell isn't going to let any of these bastards gobble him up. He grips Mugen's hilt, unsheathing the blade in one fluid motion, and drawing two fingers along the edge.

A smirk lifts his scowl, rasping the next words out with a venomous excitement lilting his tone.

"Mugen, unsheathe-- Innocence, activate..!"
