Applications Two

APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED!
The next application opening date is Friday 16th January, 7pm EST.
The next application processing date is Friday 23rd January, 7pm EST.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.

While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

To see what we are looking for:
Canon Characters:
Sample Application (Faith Lehane)
Sample Application (Iroh)

Original Characters:
Sample Application (Mors)
Sample Application (Vera de Barr)
Sample Application (Malkus Iverwelling)

Previous Game History:

Character Name: Rufus Barma
Canon: Pandora Hearts
Canon Point: Chapter 60

Background/History: Barma on the Pandora Hearts wiki

Personality: Being the oldest Duke, Rufus is a widely respected man. However, he’s also not an easy one to come in contact with. One can try very hard to get an audience with him and wait a very long time before they are successful. That’s both due in part to his status and in part to his impertinent nature. Many wish to ask information of him due to his vast knowledge and equally impressive library of records and texts on history and other knowledge. But on most occasions, he asks that for information, people pay him properly in return - with the only fair currency - other information. However, he doesn’t always strictly enforce that. On occasion he tells people things simply because he thinks they should be told, or wants to tell them. In that way he’s not always strict.

The most notable part of his personality is his strong desire for knowledge, thinking it the most powerful thing in the world, and devouring it with a great passion. He keeps intensive records and values information more than anything else. More than some, he has an open mind to all sorts of various sources of information; not being the type to dismiss rumors without considering the possibility of them, even if they seem more on the far-fetched side.

When in the middle of uncovering something, he proves to be very dedicated, and can sit about for a long time working on something without breaking away from it. That includes looking through books or deciphering codes. He might sound like he’s complaining at times like this, treating it as something troublesome but more than that, feels immense satisfaction when he manages to learn something or make headway on a project. So in the end, he’ll smile about it. On the other hand, there is the frustration that comes with not knowing something. There’s a line between the way he enjoys the challenge and the frustration of not making progress that shifts depending on the circumstances.

However, he dislikes being disrespected and shows annoyance over stupid questions. He’s generally direct, however, he can be a good actor when the situation calls for it.

He also tends to create a mess when he gets engrossed in his work, curling up somewhere comfortable and having books and scrolls piled around him. And he takes pride in everything he does, whether it’s a piece of information he’s gathered, a skill, or something as silly as his acting.

It’s true that he rubs a lot of people the wrong way when they meet him due to a mixture of bad traits in his personality that makes him come across poorly. It can be said that at times he is cold and blunt. He also tends to be rather shrewd and condescending. But more than that, he has a bad habit of playing people and coming across as manipulative. On more than one occasion he’s withheld important information for one reason or another, with the result being beneficial for him. While he’s not necessarily a bad person, he tends to weigh the value of different people based on how much they can contribute to his knowledge. Obviously, the more he can learn from a person, the more valuable they are to him.

He is a good judge of character and tends to be able to predict people’s reactions based on the information he’s collected on them. It’s not exactly a good habit, and he has a difficult time accepting deviations, when people act differently than he expects of them. The fact that people change is something that he detests, because it’s not something that can be measured, or predicted, and out-dates the knowledge he has on them. It’s easy to see how he over-calculates the concept of people and has a difficult time relating to them on more human terms.

As a Duke, he does have servants, including Liam. And he both is and isn’t high maintenance. There are certain things he’d much rather do himself, especially if he thinks he can do a better job of it. But like any noble, he does take advantage of having certain work carried out for him, and in that aspect is more spoiled than the average person. He does act as Sheryl Rainsworth’s valet, however, an act that proves him not above serving and helping others although it can be said she’s a bit of an exception, being someone he has a certain amount of unrequited romantic interest in.

He occasionally drapes about in a casual manner; likely a result of spending a lot of time bent over books and sprawled out comfortably while he devours information, though he doesn’t necessarily have a bad posture. His speech is odd in that it’s an old dialect which can either make him sound a little ridiculous, refined, or just plain uppity depending on who you ask.

Far too often he acts ambiguously and makes it difficult for people to judge his morality and/or loyalty, and makes him suspect. While the easiest way to try and figure it out is to determine what end might suit him most as far as his personal desires. If that’s not clear, then it’s a very difficult task.

Usually he acts in a proper and serious manner, but occasionally even he can act silly, flitting about. But usually he keeps a very straight face, or a bored or amused one depending on what he’s saying. When he starts telling stories, he tends to look almost bored, not showing as much emotion one way or the other, like he does when he’s just conversing with people.

Another thing worth noting is that he is the contractor of Dodo - the power of which he actually refers to as wretched; being a creature capable of creating high-quality, nearly flawless illusions. Being someone who is very invested in reality, he hates that power, although he’s not above making use of it if it suits his needs. But it’s something he complains about all the same.

Abilities/Powers: Rufus Barma is contracted to a Chain - a creature born of a dark alternate dimension known as the Abyss. The contract is similar to a partnership, in which the Chain answers to its Contractor in return for being released from the Abyss and tied to its Contractor. Pandora developed a safe way to do this, however, occasionally the person stops aging physically, which is the case in Rufus Barma’s case (being 67 years old despite looking more like 37 years old). It doesn’t mean that he isn’t aging however. The strain of the body’s age still piles up despite not showing and it does not in any way make them immortal or stronger. The Contractor is still entirely human and powerless, save for having the Chain to fight for them.

Dodo is a large bird that maintains a lot of power and a lot of stamina. However, due to its size, it cannot fly, unlike the other bird-like Chains such as Raven and Jabberwocky. Like all Chains, it’s capable of fighting, but also has unique capabilities that set it apart from the others. It can fight physically with beak and claw and wings, and is no pushover. But its size is a disadvantage to its agility; which is where its high stamina becomes useful.

+ Illusion - Dodo’s special ability is tied to its ability to create grand illusions on a massive scale based on Rufus Barma’s wishes. It can quite literally be anything Rufus desires.

+ Door to the Abyss - Dodo makes it possible for Barma to cross into the Abyss through a rift between the Earth and the Abyss.

+ Dark Energy - Dodo can use dark energy as a secondary weapon aside from physical attacks against his opponents.

As a human, Barma’s greatest asset is his intellect. However, he also proves himself decent in combat, combating Break’s sword with a bladed fan. But while he has that talent, it’s not something he prefers to use unless it’s more defensive. He certainly wouldn’t hesitate to use it if he had to, but he’s the type who sits back and observes, rather than fight if it can be helped.

Items/Weapons: (1) bladed fan, Dodo

Sample Entry: Prithee, tell me - whom amongst you have been here longest. If thou consider thyself knowledgeable, I desire to speak with thee.

[It’s still the first day, and of course he’d asked many questions upon his initial arrival proper, but that didn’t mean he was finished by any means. No, he’d only begun, and he seemed rather diligent about it, gathering it so quickly. His voice is rather calm, all things considered. There’s an air of dignity about his speech that goes further than just his use of older dialect. And he’s polite enough - considering he finds these people to be rather valuable for all they can possibly offer him. He doesn’t intend to remain ignorant long. It’s an unpleasant feeling.]

In my case I have none to offer thee in return at this time, but I fully intend to repay mine debts. In return I desire the information in thy hands. If thou dost think thee hath information worth sharing, bring it to me. I will put it to good use.

Sample Entry Two:How unpleasant.” There are many words, none particularly positive, that can be used to describe the phenomenon at hand here, but that is what rolls off his tongue as he removes himself from the initial throng of people who had landed in the mess of rubble. It lacks any indication of importance, this spot, being just as full of colorless rocks and other varying broken pieces of plaster and concrete and glass and other materials harder to distinguish at a glance.

He brushes the dust from his clothes, only just catching the sight of an odd vine creeping at his ankle. Stepping aside, his eyes narrow and he casually drops his heel on the moving plant, watching it shiver and stop before removing his foot.

Rufus displays an expression of displeasure before it becomes pensive again. Since he woke up there has been nothing but thoughts and questions orderly being processed. Starting with the most basic, he begins to start gathering information on what has happened and where he happens to be. It’s easy at first, knowing that this is not the Abyss and that it is not a place he recognizes, either in concept or by sight. This ruin of a place is hardly fit to be living in and yet there are many people; more than just those whom he had been piled with.

Eyes peer up at the looming billboard and Rufus scoffs at the words scrawled there. “Thou callest thy self Haven? A mockery of a name.” It’s laughable, he thinks, but the information brings a humorless smile to his face. He is at a great disadvantage. It’s been a very, very long time since he’s felt this powerless. It can’t remain this way. “Safe thou sayest, but I must disagree. Let us see which is truest.” In the meantime, there is only one thing to do and that is to gather information. He will not remain in the dark long. He despises the feeling, though the promise of challenge and new information promises it will at the very least, not be a waste of his time.

Mako Mori | Pacific Rim | Reserved

[personal profile] retributively 2014-02-06 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality:

Mako Mori is a young Japanese woman with a tragic past that has dictated her fate: her life goal since the age of eleven—during a devastating attack on Tokyo by the kaiju named Onibaba—has been to avenge the death of her parents by fighting the kaiju as a Jaeger pilot. Now, at age twenty, she is on the cusp of achieving that goal, despite many obstacles that still stand in her path.

It helps that she is diligent, dutiful, with an extremely strong work ethic; her pursuit of becoming a pilot has led her to be extremely single-minded, a trait that comes across in every action and choice toward her goal. Additionally, Mako seeks to earn the praise and admiration of Stacker Pentecost, the Marshal of the PPDC (Pan-Pacific Defense Corps) and her adoptive foster father who was present that fateful day in Tokyo, single-handedly defeating Onibaba in his Jaeger and rescuing her in the process. The motivation to make Pentecost proud of her is perhaps the stronger of the two—so strong, in fact, that Mako maintains obedience to him when, after a kwoon spar with Raleigh Becket in which it’s determined they’re both Drift-compatible, Pentecost forbids her from becoming Raleigh’s co-pilot despite her wishes. When Raleigh pursues her after exiting the kwoon and tells her that she doesn’t have to obey the Marshal, Mako turns on him and solemnly tells him, It is not obedience; it is respect. She is not above arguing with her adoptive father and pressing the issue, but she respects him too much and feels to much of a “life-debt” to him to disobey him to the point of insubordination.

Raised in the Shatterdome and then the PPDC Academy in a time of war, Mako has missed many normative experiences growing up. Personal relationships and friendships are not completely discouraged among Jaeger trainees and Rangers, but strict focus is kept on the ultimate goal of defeating the Kaiju, and forming close ties to someone can be detrimental in the sense that casualties in war are common and becoming more frequent among Jaeger pilots as time goes on. Being the youngest ever to have enlisted for Jaeger pilot training has secluded her, as well, in terms of peers she can relate to—the only exception being Chuck Hansen, son of Hercules Hansen and a fellow military brat who has essentially been ‘raised in a cockpit’. Undoubtedly, Mako's closest relationship is with Stacker Pentecost, who is savior, mentor, and father to her, replacing her entire extended family and even distant blood-relatives that she's estranged from.

As a result, her single-mindedness manifests in her almost to a fault. She seems at once introverted, with scant few friends and no social life, and at the same time blunt with respect to how she communicates with people, suggesting she’s inexperienced with socialization. Although she is not outwardly abrasive to most people, she is very standoffish and aloof. While Raleigh and Tendo greet one another warmly when the pilot returns from his five-year hiatus, Mako is nowhere near as friendly with Tendo despite having been familiar with the Shatterdomes for nearly as long as Raleigh’s career. She keeps few things around her that are not related to the war with the kaiju, and her quarters are littered with Jaeger technical blueprints and maps of kaiju sightings, where other (older) Rangers might keep personal photos and mementos. The only personal items saved from her childhood, in the care of Stacker Pentecost, are the red shoes she wore that her parents had bought for her the day that Onibaba attacked.

Mako is the very definition of a perfectionist; part of this is deliberate, intended to show those around her that she's earned her position and dispel any rumors of favoritism, despite being the Marshal's daughter. But Mako is also prone to becoming embarrassed and agitated, often second guessing herself. Notably, many of these instances occur in Raleigh’s presence—when she’s flustered at his understanding of Japanese during their first meeting, and during their sparring match when he admonishes her to concentrate. As she becomes more familiar with Raleigh through their connection in the Drift and most importantly by being his co-pilot, though, these feelings of uncertainty subside and she becomes very connected to him and emotionally confident in the bond they both share.

Mako Mori | Pacific Rim | Reserved, 3/3. *I'd like this app screened, thanks!*

[personal profile] retributively 2014-02-06 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Abilities/Powers:

Mako is fully human, but she has some outstanding abilities as one:

Jaeger pilot: Mako is a PPDC Ranger, with simulator score of 51 drops to 51 kills, and a combat ratio of 2 drops to 4 kills (two independent kaiju multiple events). She has demonstrated a very strong connection with Ranger Raleigh Becket, with whom she has proven to be Drift-compatible and an able co-pilot, as well as with the Mark III Jaeger, Gipsy Danger. Together their fighting style is a blend of street fighting with both implemented and improvisational weaponry.

Martial Arts Master: Mako was trained in multiple martial arts, both by Stacker Pentecost and through her education in the Jaeger Academy. The rigorous Ranger physical training (mostly done in the kwoon, which is a Cantonese version of a Japanese dojo) includes Jaeger Bushido, Greco-Roman/Sumo wrestling, Muay Thai, Krav Maga, boxing, and fencing.

Engineering and Jaeger Restoration Technician: Mako was trained within the Pan Pacific Defense Corps in Mechanics and Engineering, related to Jaeger technology. She is able to design Jaeger components, such as the Chain Sword, and understands structure and function of Jaeger systems, including liquid circuitry, analog nuclear versus digital plasma power sources, human-machine interface, and robotic motor functions.

Drift Side-effects: Even after both the Drift and the Neural Handshake have been terminated, there have been reported instances of what is called a Drift hangover between two Jaeger pilots, with whom the bond in the Drift is exceptionally strong:

…their cognitive systems are permanently altered by the experience known as the Drift. They report persistent perceptions that another consciousness is operating in tandem with their own, as well as feelings that each action they take is recreated on a larger scale somewhere else. Some Rangers call this the 'Drift hangover,' but unlike hangovers, it does not appear to diminish over time…

(Pacific Rim novelization, Kaiju Magazine Editorial)

This phenomenon is known commonly as Ghost-Drifting. The underlying theory is that the neural pathways formed while connected through the Pons remain within the architecture of an individual's brain, even after disconnection from the Drift.

When Naoto opened her eyes she was blinded by white. The color white. It meant nothing to her normally. It was a color she was use to seeing in her every day life. The pages of her detective novels were white. The shirt she wore every day to school was white. White was the color of the faces of the dead bodies she saw, their blood drained from the wounds that took their life. She had learned to look at these things unflinchingly, without attachment. She felt nothing when she saw the scene of the crime no matter how horrific it was.

'Something is seriously wrong with that kid,' a police officer had whispered to another when they thought she wasn't listening. 'He doesn't even flinch when he sees the most twisted things. I'm a pro and even I have trouble stomaching some of the stuff we see on the job.'

'No kidding. He isn't afraid or anything. He doesn't even bat an eye. Maybe a part of me admires that, but then I feel stupid thinking so highly of such a pompous kid. He acts tough but he's got nothing to back it up. He should go back to the playpen where he belongs.'

What do they know, Naoto had told herself bitterly. They understand nothing. But what was it, she wondered, that they didn't understand. Maybe she was the one who didn't understand. Maybe they were right, but that was something Naoto, at the time, could absolutely never think of as a possibility. Then she had met them and suddenly she began to think differently. She started asking questions about herself she might never have otherwise and a part of her hated them for that.

The color white. It was only a color. She was use to it. But...

But to be honest, she didn't like the color white.

So when her eyes opened to white, she felt more afraid than she ever had in her entire life. She sat up abruptly, blinking spots from her eyes and trying to summon the memories of what had just occurred. Immediately she regretted sitting up so fast as a wave of nausea and lightheadedness nearly caused her to pass out again. Then she noticed her surroundings. It looked like a cliche. She was surrounded by a giant laboratory of some mad scientist that looked like something you'd see in a low budget movie. Surely she was dreaming. Yet even as that thought entered her head she knew it wasn't.

"Ah good, you're awake."

Naoto felt chills run down her spine. The voice had been her own, albeit twisted, but there was no mistaking it. Sure enough when she turned she came face to face with herself. The same clothes, the same hat, the same face save for eerie yellow eyes... and for the fact that it was wearing an oversized lab coat. White. Naoto grimaced and stared in horror. This was the answer she had sought? Her clone grinned at her in a way that made her skin crawl.

"Now let the body alteration process commence!"

Naoto closed her eyes and took a deep breath, much preferring the darkness behind her eyelids to the white surrounding her. They will come, she reminded herself. They absolutely will come for me.

Pascal // Tales of Graces ƒ // Not Reserved 2/3

[personal profile] shotstaff 2014-02-07 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:
Airhead. That is the sole word that can describe Pascal to a T.

Since her initial introduction before the events at Wallbridge, it’s clear that Pascal was — and is — an eccentric young lady. She’s excitable, loud, and generally has issues with social norms. She is, essentially, a free spirit who doesn’t quite understand why others don’t quite agree to her personal agenda. Even so, despite her overbearing eccentricity and simplistically casual vocabulary, Pascal bears a gift that is shared among her people, the Amarcians: the gift of Knowledge.

Pascal, like all other Amarcians, is a genius in all types of sciences, with her specialty lying in technology and engineering, and her enthusiasm for it is unmatched. As commented by multiple major and minor characters, she is able to figure out how a piece of technology works simply by looking at and tinkering with it for a minute or two-- particularly if it's Amarcian technology, although she hasn't had any issues with dissecting extraterrestrial technology either, as seen during the events on Fodra. Her intellect is unmatched, and she is unwittingly one step ahead of everyone else. Pascal’s mind runs like clockwork, always analyzing and observing the surrounding technology with a critical eye not immediately noticeable to others. This is the backing for her impressive adaptability with familiar or foreign technology, making her an important asset to the party as they very likely wouldn’t have gotten very far without her intellect. It even goes so far as to spawning jealousy from her older sister Fourier-- which Pascal, of course, never intended.

Despite her genius, she is a very laidback, very casual 22-year-old lady with the mindset of a simpleton. To an extent, she is crude and a bit perverse. Her favorite food is bananas, and she will grow excited at the prospect of eating one-- or one dozen. Unless she is going off on a tangent, her vocabulary is equivalent to that of an elementary schooler, utilizing slang either from the younger generation or from her own made up arsenal, and even the use of childish onomatopoeia such as “tappy tap” and “ka-POW” to describe the functioning of technology or actions.

And yet, thanks to the clockwork running in her mind, she can somehow remember that she met Asbel, Sophie, and Richard on the 652, 331st step of her journey.

Her gift of perception is not solely prominent in her technologically savvy ways: to a lesser degree, it is also prevalent in her observations of her companions. She is able to pick up on small details her friends exhibit — an example being when Pascal approached Cheria asking why she’d never confessed her feelings to Asbel, something the latter had kept under lock and key to the best of her ability for quite some time — and can usually tell when someone’s upset or bothered and will be right beside them to offer them a quick perk-up. This is only on occasion, of course, and is not as fine-tuned as her ways with technology only for the sole fact that her social skills are less than adequate. Despite this skill, Pascal is not exactly the most socially inept person. That is not to say she’s introverted, because she is far from such: she just doesn’t quite know how to behave around most other people. She is blunt and openly voices her opinion too often, is almost harshly truthful, and has a tendency to bemuse — or even insult — others with her words and actions without entirely meaning to, simply because she never put much thought into choosing the right words. She bears passion, yes, but that passion can usually be seen as borderline insanity, with her companions often shaking their heads and saying, “There she goes again,” with a sigh.

And that is only if her actions don’t cause trouble for herself or others, which it often does. She speaks and acts without thinking, constantly landing her in hot water as a result, and this was made very apparent in the beginning: immediately after waking up, she moves to touch Sophie and continuously insists on touching her again, despite Sophie’s obvious discomfort with the idea. This is all because earlier she had seen a hologram of “Sophie” in some nearby Amarcian ruins and had grown excited at the notion of touching her, as she could not initially do so with the “Sophie” she had seen in the ruins. Later on as the story progressed, she later landed herself — and her group — in hot water with a group of Fendelian soldiers who had accused her of attempting to steal their weapons, when all she simply wanted to do was look. What truly made her aware of her obliviousness, however, was her encounter with her older sister, Fourier. Having felt as though she was constantly living in the shadow of her far-more-knowledgeable younger sister, Fourier snaps at Pascal and accuses her of constantly one-upping her with hardly any effort while she puts long hours and honest work into her projects. This shocks Pascal and lands her in a temporary depressive state: she never realized that this was how Fourier felt about her, especially since Pascal looked up to her older sister as something of a role model. This realization made guilt settle into her heart.

For all of the rude and tactless actions and words that spew out of her being, Pascal is far from ill-intentioned. She is a very positive person who views the world as “glass half full with the best damn drink you would do anything for,” even despite her position as a relatively unfamiliar person in comparison to the rest of the team-- which, she confessed, made her feel lonely occasionally, but not enough to deter her too badly. Almost no source of negativity gets to her, the only exception being if she hurt someone she truly cared for without meaning to, and she never holds grudges, usually being quick to forgive. When Hubert accused her of hiding the truth behind her Amarcian origins (which she never did; no one just asked her!) she brushes it off like it never happened and even later saves him from an overgrown, rampaging boar without a second thought simply because he was a comrade in need of help. Almost constantly, unless she knows for a fact the situation is one to be taken seriously, her naivete takes control and there is always a smile on her face, reassuring or otherwise. She makes the best out of any bad situation, either by temporary distraction (while within the Rockgagong’s stomach, for example, she assigned familial roles to the group with Cheria being the mother, Asbel the father, Sophie the baby sister, etc.) or by coming up with a drive-by solution herself. She bears a charisma of positivity that, although can cause second-hand embarrassment, breathes life into the group and helps them to press on, in a way.

She is also modest and humble to a degree. That is to say that she won’t accept any form of praise given to her-- her pride will easily soak it up, even if said “praise” was meant to be an insult. And that is also to say she doesn’t have an ego, as she does have something of one (“I guess the rumors were true: I really am that awesome!”), but what does count is that she never really asks for payment for any of her efforts. Typically, if something is in need of a fixing, she jumps in without an intention of receiving a reward or even a “thank you” It is also particularly why Pascal took Fourier’s harsh words to heart: she never saw herself as being above Fourier’s intellect, but rather the other way around. Pascal looks up to her older sister and considers herself far more inept than she, particularly in the subject of biology, and never once intended to condone or prove herself better than Fourier.

Despite how well-intentioned she is, however, nothing can excuse the fact that she is rarely ever truly aware of her surroundings. Pascal has a one-track mind that is usually set on her projects fifty percent of the time, with the other fifty percent being dedicated to... odd debates with herself or her odd agenda. Whether it’s a good idea to eat 10 or 12 banana pies or debating on whether or not she should think about serious things more seriously are but a couple of the many debates she has with herself. However incredulous her mindset is, one thing is for sure and that it is absolute once she sets herself to it. When her initial goal had been to get another chance to observe and touch Sophie again, it became the sole reason she tagged along with the group, which earned her a jab from Asbel because of it. When she’s focused on a project, everything becomes obsolete. Literally. Everything. Eating, organizing her room, and even bathing become second rate when she becomes engrossed in her work, and it usually takes a few well-placed pleads or even threats to get her to relinquish her progress enough for her to smell pleasantly again-- otherwise she would go for twelve days before deciding she smells putrid enough to need to bathe.

So, yes: “airhead” is certainly a title best befitting for Pascal, but she views it in a light of positivity and wears it with pride. After all, to her, an airhead is “someone who is so smart, they can control air with their minds”.

Abilities/Powers:
When it comes to Pascal in battle, fantasy and technology correlate. Pascal's weapon of expertise is the shotstaff: a modified staff that bears a functioning rifle barrel where the butt of the staff would be. Its "ammunition" are little projectiles of eleth that manifest within the staff. Pascal's A-Artes (Assault Artes, physical) and B-Artes (Burst Artes, magic) involves the combined use of the rifle end of her shotstaff and a collection of offensive and defensive spells and glyphs. Her Derris Ring also acts as a boost to her abilities: made with a material that reacts to the energy used to counter Lambda's power, it grants her the very same abilities that Sophie — as well as Asbel, Cheria, and Hubert by extension — has. She, too, can heal and provide power ups for surrounding allies thanks to this power, although they must be within a specific radius from her. In addition, Pascal also bears the blessing of the three elemental guardians (Grim Sylphie, Cyandine, and Bloodflamme), allowing her to summon them to her aid at her beck and call.

While the ranged weapon and her unique Iron Guard ability are beneficial to spell-casting, only a few of her spells are truly ranged: many spells in her arsenal requires the target to be within a radius around her, leaving her vulnerable to attack due to close proximity. In addition to her relatively low endurance (HP), frequent injury and knockout can happen, though she's adapted her fighting style to minimize that. Sort of. To an extent.

UPDATE: Because of her update to a later point in time, she has one more arte to add to her arsenal: her Accelerate (Accel) arte, Runic Shield. This is an impressive and useful arte that allows temporary near invincibility to those within a certain radius of her, typically only lasting a couple of minutes, reducing damaged caused by enemies to about 5% of it's severity. Accel artes are gradually recharged during the duration of a battle, the minimum needed being a 50% charge. If at 100% charge, Pascal would also be able to perform her Accel Mystic arte, Fever Dream... but she presently does not have Mecha Asbel in her possession so that's kind of a moot point.

A full list of Pascal's artes is available over yonder.

Okay so, it's like super obvious that your timing is just plain bad-- like, ridonkulously bad! "I-was-totally-gonna-save-the-world-when-you-guys-did-your-wee-woo-wobbly-thing" bad. 'Course, this wasn't the first time you did that sorta thing-- by the way, thanks a bunch for getting rid o' those itchy scars, they were a real pain in the butt! --Aaanyway! Thanks for getting rid'a those things but y'know what? You're all still a buncha rotten bananas. I mean, your timing was terribad 'cause I was about to do the whole world-saving thing again and you brought me back to this dump! Sure, it's not that big a deal or anything...

Sample Entry Two:
There were several things Pascal expected when she came to: a mouth full of rocks was one of them, but not quite at the top of the list. Although the taste of sediment was one that was all too familiar to her (one could ask Fourier, or even Sophie to attest to this), last she recalled, Pascal couldn't remember a situation where she ended up kissing the ground for whatever reason. First of all, she wasn't alone: she was with the gang. If she really did end up tripping over her own feet and blacking out as a result, she wouldn't be face down for long if she had her friends around her, or so she believed. Secondly, she wasn't anywhere near any sort of rock: she was in the Enclave, finishing the final touches on Mecha Asbel. The floating streets of her home were carefully crafted by her ancestors and cleaned daily. If there were any pebbles on the streets, they were few and far between.

And yet here she is: shoving another body off of her while spitting out rocks that managed to sneak their way into her mouth. Continuity displacement — the only likely situation she can think of — is not exactly something Pascal can find herself getting used to or maybe appreciating: it's too confusing and she has better things to worry about than figuring out how she ended up in the ruins of a building with more bodies piling up (such as relishing the sight of Hubert's tears of happiness when he sees Mecha Asbel in all its glory).

After a moment, she finally pushes herself up with a grunt before someone else decides to roll onto her, dusting herself off and wiping the blood off of scrapes she can immediately find. Her legs and arms are stinging with irritated cuts and she can already see blood collecting on the elbows of her sleeves, but she pays no mind to it as she crawls out of the ruins and onto firm ground, Fandom's Light in hand. Briefly, Pascal wonders if she'd been brought to Telos Astue while she was knocked out, or if there was an explosion triggered that caused a building to collapse. The latter seemed plausible: it wouldn't have been the first time a building fell in the Enclave if that ruined walkway by her home was anything to go by. Not only that, but the surroundings are not as rust-colored as she remembers Fodra's atmosphere being. The thought that maybe her house exploded while she wasn't paying attention is put to rest, however, when she notices a billboard in the distance-- a billboard she can recognize anywhere.

At whiplash speed, she turns back to the ruins that she emerged from. Something's not right: the angle was correct as she remembered it to be, but there was something missing, that "something" being, oh perhaps, an entire building. Last she remembered, the apartment building — her home for several months — was supposed to be standing here. It was slowly being taken over by plants, sure... and there were regular earthquakes up until she left, some stronger than others but not enough to bring down an entire building. Despite that, the clues were all there: the occasional oddity that likely belonged to someone, the strange plants, that barely standing staircase...

There was no doubt about it. She's back in Haven, and these ruins were what remained of the apartment building.

"Holy..."

Her first instinct: find the others. Undoubtedly, everyone's found a different place to stay if this was what remained of the apartments, but where would she even start? Would they be on their own, or among friends? Finding a place where there are more people gathered would be a good start as the group shared the common belief in strength in numbers and bonds, and getting into contact with them immediately would be even better, though that's not a route she intends to take. While calling them would be the better option, what kind of return to Haven would that be? No, what she wanted to see was their surprised faces as she makes her Ultimate Reintro(c) in person, not on a screen where she can barely make out the faces anyway.

Though finding them... clearly won't be an easy task. All the other buildings look no better than what used to be the apartments, and everyone's seemed to have spread out-- not to mention Haven West is fairly big on its own, giving the Amarcian an unfairly wide area to cover if she intends to find her friends on her own. And then there was looking through all of the other ruins, and while she does enjoy her fair share of ruins spelunking... Pascal honestly couldn't believe that Haven West could look worse than it already did.

Pascal spares another glance at the ruins, kicking up the earth with a groan before setting off, Fandom's Light balanced on her shoulder. "Yeesh, what'd these guys do to the place this time?!"

And more importantly, why wasn't she around to see it happen?!

Character Name: Ponpokorii Chitchoriina III (Pochi for short)
Canon: Itsuwaribito Utsuho
Canon Point: Chapter 113
Background/History: Wiki!
Personality: Pochi is a child, not even a year old, and it shows in his total lack of understanding of the world. (As a side note, I'm going with "he" for convenience, Pochi's gender is a mystery.) His vocabulary is limited, he mispronounces things, he falls for every trick or lie anyone throws at him, and his first instinct is to trust everyone he comes across, no matter how horrible they may appear or prove themselves to be. In fact, it's this same gullibility that gets him into trouble multiple times throughout the series, going out in the open to meet a poacher or untying a criminal because he says the ropes hurt. Despite all the times he's been tricked or hurt for it though, Pochi continues to trust in people, and manages to keep a cheerful and positive outlook on life. He happily follows the team around on their adventures, treating the entire thing like more of a picnic outing than a dangerous adventure - much like the protagonist does - and never complains or cries, unless he gets hurt, because it's hard not to cry when something hurts.

This isn't to say he's a total airhead; Pochi understands perfectly well (or as well as a small child can) that it's dangerous out there, that there's bad people, etc. He was covered in scars when he first met Utsuho, and barely survived to see his mother's grave. But he was saved from death back then, and he has complete trust in his new family's ability to keep him safe. In fact, trust might be his strongest trait - even when facing a perilous situation, which could define quite a large portion of the situations he's been in with Utsuho, if the people around him believe it will be okay (or tell him it will), then he'll believe that over everything else. He's able to collect one of the treasures the team is looking for, solely because he's innocent enough to believe when the sign tells him it's safe and walk through all the dangers to the treasure at the end. His trust in people is his defining characteristic, and the thing that keeps him moving forward (or staying still if he's lost) no matter how bad things may get.

Pochi has been called such things as "foolishly honest", "sort of oblivious", and "very, very innocent." And the truth is, he might be all three - but that foolishly oblivious innocence is also what attracts people to him. When an apparently dangerous person joins the group, Pochi keeps him in check simply by accepting and appreciating his presence. When the guy miraculously returns from his apparent death, Pochi is the only one who innocently comes up and says he's glad he's okay, not bothering to ask about the whys and hows of the matter. Likewise, he's adamantly against the thought of anyone dying or killing willingly, even stopping Utsuho when facing off against the person who'd slaughtered his village. (He's okay with hitting people though.) He's a child with enough love for everyone he ever meets, and the strength of that love may be a weapon in and of itself - his only weapon, and the only one he'll ever want or need.
Abilities/Powers: Pochi's mother died before he could learn how to transform, so he has no abilities whatsoever! Aside from speaking the human language.
Items/Weapons: Nothing!
Sample Entry: Test post!
Sample Entry Two:
It had been a while since Pochi had woken up alone - and waking up in a place like this was definitely a first. Where had all the trees gone? And the people? He looked around worriedly for any signs of his family, but it seemed the only things nearby were rocks and buildings made of more rocks. Was that right? They looked kind of like rock buildings, anyway. But whatever this place was, Utsuho-san had to be around somewhere, right? Or Mom or Sis or somebody else! Maybe the'd gotten split up? It wasn't the first time that had happened...but he'd find someone eventually! Or they'd find him. That was usually how it worked, anyway.

Having allayed his own worries for the moment, Pochi picked a random direction and started walking. Was Utsuho-san over here? Over there? Maybe over that way! "That way" being a particularly tall pile of rubble, which he decided to climb. His adventure was cut short though, when he slipped at the top and found himself rolling and bouncing down the other side - and getting himself stuck in a gap in the rocks. He wiggled a bit, kicking his stubby legs futilely...nope, definitely stuck. Well, there was only one way out of a situation like this:

"Hello! Is anybody there? If not, please tell me!"

Personality:

When Tsurugi first appears in canon, he is angry, bitter, and spiteful. On first glance, he will appear forceful and arrogant, and seems to get a certain satisfaction in asserting his superiority over others. He has a harsh temper, and will actively lash at anyone who gets under his skin, which, given his circumstances with Raimon, is often; after watching his brother lose his dream, it's difficult for him to stomach other resisting their circumstances to pursue what they want. But although he would try to pretend otherwise, these aspects were never part of his real personality, but the unfortunate result of pent up pain and frustration. The reality is, his brother's loss affected Tsurugi so deeply that he gave up on himself, and started actively suppressing his own dreams and desires just so that he could return Yuuichi's. He didn't care for a moment what happened to him, if only he could heal his brother. At one point, he even goes as far to describe following one's own desires as "nothing but a useless effort," and when Tenma learns his motivations and attempts to reach out to him, he responds, "There are things in the world that can't be changed. What would guys like you understand?" These harsh views characterized a good chunk of Tsurugi's life, resulting in a repressed young man who lost sight of what he loved and would take it out on the world around him.

Now that he's finally found his place, however, his real personality shines through, and he's much better for the wear. Where he once had a nasty temper, he's now very calm and is able to view things objectively and rationally, which is furthered by his intelligence. He has keen powers of observation, with a particular talent for reading others' thoughts and intentions. He tends to be aloof and a bit withdrawn, and isn't exactly the most expressive. While this might give him the appearance of being antisocial or a loner, neither are accurate; he cares quite a bit for his friends and does genuinely enjoy being in their company. As time passes, it becomes more and more evident that he actually has a big heart and is willing to accept anyone who has their intentions in the right place. He possesses what Raimon refers to as their "Raimon spirit": an inability to turn away from a guy who could use a helping hand. That being said, Tsurugi doesn't express this tendency in quite the same way as his teammates. He can sometimes be a bit harsh when he talks, as he tends not to pull his punches and makes no particular attempt to be warm. Far be him from an asshole, however; he simply chooses to express himself by his actions rather than his words.

Some of the ways he accomplishes this are more subtle than others. For instance, while it may seem a little too obvious, treating the people around him as his equals is a sure sign of his respect; he wouldn't bother if he didn't feel them worth it. Along the same vein, when he criticizes or yells at someone, it can be considered a form of affection; it's meant to push them forward, and he isn't the type to waste that on someone he doesn't have faith in. Conversely, when he holds someone in contempt or thinks them not worth his time, he doesn't bother making any effort to hide it, and tends to meet them with derision.

While he does tend to let his actions speak for themselves, they're not always obvious without reading into his behavior, and he is ultimately an introvert, so as one might expect, he is isn't always the best at expressing himself vocally and occasionally reacts a little awkwardly. While he's probably not the best choice if seeking comfort, given his advice tends to be a little harsh, he does take care of his friends in his own way; his tendency is to quietly watch over them. Sometimes he'll give them a push by scolding them, but there are also times where he'll simply quietly keep an eye on them until he's satisfied they're okay, or even maneuver on their behalf without so much as a word. He is an excellent listener, however, and has a knack for getting to the heart of a problem.

Tsurugi is also both extremely reliable and dedicated. He tends place huge responsibilities on himself without even blinking, and will fight with everything he has to achieve them. He'll do just about anything for what he believes in and the people he cares about, and his fearlessness and willpower tend to have a way of drawing out the courage in the people around him. Though his outside may be cool, there's no question that it conceals a bold, fiery spirit. While early on he tended to have self-sacrificial tendencies, particularly when it came to his brother, he's since learned combine his strength with others, and to fight without compromising his own ideals or desires, leading to his transformation from bitter and repressed, to a boy with a truly strong heart.

Abilities/Powers:

» HISSATSU/ELEMENTS
The first thing to keep in mind about Inazuma Eleven is that, while it does center around soccer, the version of the game played in their world is a "super-dimensional" soccer played at superhuman levels, utilizing skills and powers akin to magic. These skills, known as hissatsu techniques, are obtained through intense training. As a player grows stronger they start to learn more techniques, and the more they use those techniques, the more powerful that technique will become. Hissatsu are extremely powerful, and can potentially cause a lot of damage, especially if used with ill intentions. For example, Tsurugi's Death Sword once took out an entire team on its own―and that's his weakest move. Hissatsu each have an elemental characteristic that will determine its strengths and weaknesses, and players all have affinities for a single element. It's possible to use a hissatsu of any given element, but a fire user will be able to produce more power from a fire hissatsu than a wood user, for example. It is, however, possible to have techniques with no element, which means it will posses neither a strength nor weakness, giving it equal power against all four elements.

Tsurugi's element is fire, as are most of his natural abilities, excluding Great Blaster and Bicycle Sword (both having no element), and The Earth Infinity (Earth).

» AVATARS
Avatars are metaphysical beings whose existences are shrouded in mystery. Appearance-wise, they're akin to a Persona from the Persona series. They are able to be summoned when a person masters their spiritual energy, which is normally invisible the human eye, and manifest in it a physical form. The users produce a black aura, which can in turn be used to summon their Avatar. Avatars are representative of the user's true heart and nature, and increase their abilities to a literally inhuman degree; when using an avatar a player will be stronger, faster, and able to give and take more damage, to the point that about the only thing that can stop a Avatar is another Avatar. It should be noted that this isn't dependent on the Avatar itself; the user's spiritual aura can do this on its own, with the Avatar appearing to execute skills or fight another Avatar. Avatars often also have their own hissatsu techniques, and a technique used by an Avatar will far surpass one used normally.

Despite the power, however, it isn't possible to just whip out your metaphorical spiritual cock all the time. The user's spiritual aura will slowly exhaust itself, especially as they take more hits, and will eventually run out. It seems to be physically painful for players to completely use up their spiritual aura, and doing so will drain some of their stamina. Once their spiritual aura has been depleted, they will no longer be able to user their Avatar.

Unlike hissatsu techniques, Avatars are rare and cannot be produced as a direct result of training; the ability to use one is inherent. Only special players are able to use them, and there is no real way to determine who can potentially use one who can't. It is also unknown how or why they're able to be summoned, although it's said that they seem to respond to powerful wishes. They're not easy to master, either; before users started appearing in Raimon, it was thought impossible to learn how to master one without the assistance of Fifth Sector. Shindou even fell unconscious the first time he produced one.

Tsurugi's Avatar is called Sword Saint Lancelot, and takes on the form of a knight with a sword and shield. It's adept for both defense and offense; it can both block with its shield and strike down other Avatars with its sword, although its primary power is in its shoot technique, Lost Angel. Tsurugi also helps form Demon Emperor Gryphon, an Avatar brought about by fusing Tenma's Pegasus Arc, Shindou's Maestro, and Tsurugi's Lancelot into a single entity. In the anime all three of them use Gryphon together, but in the game it's primarily controlled by Tenma. As it utilizes three separate auras, Gryphon is much more powerful than normal Avatars. Lancelot has a passive skill that slightly boosts the fire hissatsu of all allies while it's being used. Gryphon's passive ability is different between the first and second games; in the first, it gives the primary user an extreme speed boost, but in the second it gives an extreme boost in kick power.

» AVATAR ARMED
Avatar Armed is an ability in which an Avatar user can take their Avatar onto their own body, wearing it as armor, which creates several advantages. First, Avatars in their normal form are extremely large, so by using them in Armed form, it makes it easier to get around to use them more effectively. While using an Avatar as armor, the player won't be able to make use of the Avatar's own hissatsu technique, but they will be able to use their own techniques without draining any of their mental energy; hissatsu techniques normally consume Technique Points, but while a player is using Avatar Armed, they come free of cost. [Note: In Galaxy, this was changed to 1/4th the cost]. In addition to being more maneuverable and the ease of technique use, Avatar Armed is actually a bit more powerful, and can give a boost to the the user's spiritual aura. For example, if a player using a normal Avatar was starting to run low on KP, switching to Avatar Armed would push them back to full KP, replenishing some of their power.

However, while the ability is extremely powerful, timing is crucial. Avatar Armed drains the user's aura much more quickly than using an Avatar normally, meaning that it rapidly powers down as they move and can only be used for a brief period of time before completely dissipating.

(Note: It is possible to use Gryphon Armed, but it goes to Tenma only, not Tsurugi or Shindou.)

» MIXI-MAX
Additionally, there is an ability called Mixi-Max, which involves fusing two people's spiritual aura's together. The first person, the negative, will act as a conduit, and the second, the positive, with be able to take in the first's person aura, which grants the the use of their power: physical ability, physical/mental stamina, two of the conduit's hissatsu techniques, as well as the use of their Avatar, if they one. The vessel will also take elements of the conduit's appearance (hair color, eye color, skin tone, etc). If the vessel has a different element than that of the conduit, they will also inherit that, which will give them two elemental strengths rather than than one.

The success and power level of fusing two aura together depends on a few factors. First, the two must be of comparable strength; the vessel won't be able to take in a aura that's too large for them. Second, a meaningful connection and an inherent understanding of each other's personality will strengthen the amount of power obtained from the Mixi-Max. The presence of a Chrono Stone can also affect the success and power by maximizing a player's inner potential. In terms of game mechanics, this means boosting the conduit's level so that the vessel will receive more power.

While Mixi-Max isn't quite as strong as using an Avatar, it still makes the user considerably stronger than a normal human, and it can also be held longer, depending on how you use it. Like Avatar Armed, it rapidly drains the user's energy as they move around, but instead of depleting their spiritual aura, it directly drains their physical stamina. As the vessel will inherit the stamina of the person whose aura they're taking in, and stamina can be restored through items, this means there's a higher time limit. That being said, eventual exhaustion is unavoidable with Mixi-Max; Avatars can be dismissed before the user's aura is depleted, but Mixi-Max can not be undone, and will continue to drain the user's stamina until it reaches zero, where it will dissipate and can't be used again until the player restores their energy. Sometimes, this will also have the effect of draining their mental stamina as well: when the Mixi-Max breaks, the user will surrender the energy they gained, so if they've used all of their own TP and dipped into what they've gained from the Mixi-Max, they'll come out at zero instead of retaining what's left. Thus, it should be used with a certain amount of discretion.

Tsurugi has inherited the spiritual aura of Okita Souji, gaining Kiku Ichimonji, a shoot technique, and Speed Plus 30, a passive skill. In addition to amplifying all of Tsurugi's general power/stamina, Okita's power makes his kick power as a striker even more explosive, and the combination of Tsurugi and Okita's speed, plus the additional bonus through a skill, makes Tsurugi blindingly fast.

» COMBINING POWERS
If you want to be ridiculously unfair, it is actually possible to use both Mixi-Max and Avatars at the same time, which will give the player the full stat bonuses of both. One could actually Mixi-Max, summon their Avatar, and then switch to Avatar Armed to replenish some of their spiritual aura when it begins to run low, which will not only make them exponentially stronger, but allow them to keep the Mixi-Max longer, as their stamina won't be drained until they've depleted their spiritual aura. It does, however, take a considerable amount of energy to hold, which means that when using both, the user's spiritual aura will drain twice as fast as it would than with just an Avatar. This also means that Avatars inherited from a Mixi-Max can be tricky to use, since they won't last very long.

» SOUL
Lastly, there is an ability called Soul, which is described at "the power of a beast" residing within a person. Soul is only open to a select few, who are said to have inherited the genes of the Earth itself. A person able to use Soul is able to call forth their own spiritual essence, which will take the form of one of the planet's creatures, and are able to use that to fight. Souls are actually more powerful than Avatars, and mechanically work quite differently than Avatars or Mixi-Max. Where Avatars and Mixi-Max steadily lose power they longer they're used, Souls actually level up the longer they've been in use; it gradually gains bonuses to the SP gauge. SP still decreases when using abilities or taking damage, however, and once the gauge reaches zero the Soul can no longer be used.

Souls can't be combined with Avatars or Mixi-Max within the main game, but it is possible to use one of the player's regular hissatsu techniques at a fourth of the cost. Rather than their own unique hissatsu techniques, as an Avatar would have, Souls have a special move called Soul Strike. Soul Strike works much the same way a hissatsu does, but it's also accompanied by a roulette that will give a x/6 chance of increasing the ability's power further. (In Tsurugi's case, there's a 2/6 chance in increasing the total shoot power, 2/6 chance in increasing the damage output, and a 2/6 chance of no effect.) This means that pitting two Souls against each other is often more a matter of luck than raw power, as it can be at the mercy of getting a good roll. Using Soul Strike depletes part of the Soul's power, and once it runs out, the player will be left physically exhausted.

Souls are characterized by a blue-white aura, and like Avatars, it's possible to use their power indirectly. Tsurugi's Soul takes the form a giant black wolf, seen here.

» ETC.
Also to note is that, even without the use of any these powers, Tsurugi has pretty incredible kick power and athleticism. At the beginning of the series, he kicks a ball at the old club room from quite a distance and still manages to knock down the door and snap the wooden signboard in half. This is a thing that happens. He's also fast, agile, and can pretty easily execute backflips and the like if he needs to. He can apparently also create craters with sheer kick power (this being after he zigzagged the ball between two faces of a cliff).

tl;dr this series is on crack.

Items/Weapons: just a soccer ball and the clothes on his back.

Character Name: Kiyotaka Ishimaru
Canon: Dangan Ronpa
Canon Point: chapter two - specifically speaking towards the end of the Everyday Life section.
Background/History: wiki | character wikia.

Personality: Kiyotaka Ishimaru is a stickler for rules, as one should be if they're the holder of the Super High School Level Hall Monitor title. He's very dedicated to making sure that he and the rest of his classmates uphold and respect the rules of the school. Well, of a normal school at least. He chastises Naegi for his tardiness and then tells him that this will be reported to school officials as soon as possible when he first meets the other in the entrance hall. He also calls Naegi out for his... certain choice in style in regards to wearing his uniform. While Naegi saw no issue with it, Ishimaru did. Because not only did it break uniform code, but it also disturbed the school's peace as well. He eventually let Naegi off the hook after listening to the other's reasoning behind it (something that involved protecting his head, like a hard hat). But made it a point to remind Naegi that he'd get into trouble for it later on once school resumes normal operation.

He's also very time oriented. When he says there'll be a meeting in the morning in the cafeteria at seven o'clock sharp, he means it. Of course he isn't really the type to start the meeting with half of the party missing, so he usually waits patiently (or as patiently as he can) for the rest to show up. If he knows someone's having attendance issues, then he'll do his best to help them out. Whether it be by going to their door to wake them up, or giving them advice as to when they should go to bed. He can also be very short and to the point when it comes to introductions. He'll cut a person off if they've taken too long to introduce themselves.

Other than having a deep passion for rules and order, Ishimaru has a deep passion for... well, school. He's very studious and firmly believes in simplicity and fortitude. He supports hard work and extraneous effort above everything else as well. Which is why he kind of... looks down upon people who claim they don't need to practice or to get better at something. He isn't very fond of the term "genius" either. Ishimaru's grandfather was one of Japan's Prime Ministers, and, to put a long story short he didn't do so well in office. In fact he had to step down shortly after being selected and spent the rest of his life in shamed silence. Ishimaru notes that the only people at his grandfather's funeral were family members, despite the other having known and being respected by so many others.

Because of this, Ishimaru feels like he has a lot to prove to the world. That, just because he and his grandfather are related, doesn't mean that they are the same. He doesn't want to get to the top the way his grandfather did so effortlessly, he'd rather do it through hard work. Which is why he's put such a heavy emphasis on his studies over the years. This also explains why he... kind of sort of doesn't have a personal life either. He so heavily focused on maintaining his grades and being the perfect model student that he never really got the chance to kick back and enjoy life like most teenagers should. He never really had any hobbies or did anything fun to pass the time at home, either. In fact the only thing he did do to pass the time was study. He even goes as far enough to say that he wears his school uniform everyday. Even throughout the breaks because it put in the mindset he needed to be in. Education and learning means so much to him that he even has his own little study sessions in school. Since there aren't any classes going on right now, he has to get his study time in somehow, even if it means he has to do it himself.

He confides in Naegi that, try as he might, he's only been able to hold short conversations with each of his classmates, and that he's never really made any friends before entering Hope's Peak. He doesn't have a lot to relate to his classmates as far as what games he's playing, or what television shows he watched last night. Therefore, most of the conversations he does have with them are typically short and very dry. When he does have his insensitive moments, it's not that he's being a jerk about it, but, he just can't grasp that not everybody acts the same way as he does or should. Despite being so book smart he is definitely not street or people smart.

He's far from a coldhearted unfeeling jerk though. He's more the type who wears his heart on his sleeve. It's really easy to see what kind of mood he's in because he isn't really the type to bottle it up. He probably doesn't even know how to hide, or mask his emotions either. He's incredibly sensitive, passionate, and very hotblooded and seems to display most of these emotions through tears. When he gets mad or frustrated he cries, when he's extremely moved by something or incredibly happy he cries as well. He doesn't seemed to be too bothered or embarrassed by this, so. It really isn't much of an issue to him. He can be very animated at times too. He... also has a very interesting sense of humor. Oftentimes cracking horrible jokes that only he finds to be funny. Sometimes he's not even aware how ridiculous half the stuff he says can sound, either. During the first trial he asked the rest of his classmates to close their eyes and raise their hand if they were the murderer. As if the trial could be handled so simply. And let's not forget about his forget forget beam. Which, is nothing but a few hand movements and him saying the name really loudly.

Because he's the Super High School Level Hall Monitor it almost feels like he has to set an example for the rest of his classmates. He initiates many excursions to explore the school, gives a multitude of pep talks, and does his best to reassure everyone that while things may be bleak now - they'll find a way out of this. He's very optimistic that, if they work together, they'll get out of this.

Another thing worth mentioning would be his friendship with Mondo Oowada. Mondo is the first friend (ignoring Naegi depending on how often you talk to him during in game down times) he's made on his own at the Academy. They had a very rocky start mostly due to a clash in personalities, Ishimaru is very... cookie cutter and sticks to the rules while Mondo is the exact opposite. He's a delinquent, someone he'd never hang out with. But, over time and just talking to each other throughout their endurance contest in the sauna, they discovered that they both have similar qualities and life goals in common. Ishimaru even goes as far enough to consider Mondo his brother. And after that they've become pretty inseparable.

Abilities/Powers: He's pretty normal as far as having any super powers or any special abilities. But he's very studious and has a never ending will to get things done! He also makes a damn good cup of tea.

Items/Weapons: two spare versions of his school uniform and his electronic student id.

Sample Entry: [ishimaru regards the phone in his hand with a small nod. he brings a hand to his face and coughs into it to help clear his throat out before he begins.]

Good evening viewers! I was hoping I'd get a better understanding of this place using this device before heading out and getting a good feel for it for myself! I know this can't be a new addition to the school, since we all discovered that shortly after things settled down. Unless someone was lying about what was in the library or workout areas. And if that's the case then they'll be getting a stern talk to once I find out who was responsible for that! [he shakes his head.] But yes, if anyone has any information as to where we are speak now, please!

[though he has a small inkling that he's no longer in japan anymore.... because the windows aren't bolted up. but until proven otherwise, he's going to assume he's still stuck in murder high.] The view is... rather interesting, to say the least. I surely hope that this isn't what greets us upon graduation! It's irresponsible to let a school of such great caliber to look so... so down in the dumps like this!

Sample Entry Two: Ishimaru gave a quiet hum as he sat alone quietly in his room. He could deal with staying in this room for now, but it definitely needed some minor decorating! He doubted he could ever get it to how his room looked like back at Hope's Peak, but this... this was a start. Finally having an idea he opens his eyes and stares down at the white blank paper in front of him. It took him forever to find paper this size. So when he did, he took it and kept it for himself. Surely no one else needed it. And even if they did he would manage to find a way to give them a small portion of it. It's not like he was going to use all of it, anyway. He could part with a tiny bit here and there.

Anyway! Paper in possession all that was left was acquiring a fat tip permanent marker. Those were actually harder to come by than the paper itself. But he managed to find something he could settle down with. He had to do a little bargaining to get it, and he might have had to sacrifice a weeks worth of cans, but he definitely managed to acquire a fat tipped marker! Had he known he was going to take a little vacation from Hope's Peak he would have come stocked to the brim. He definitely would have had more uniforms on hand too! Do these people know how hard it is to keep white clean in a place like this?!? Apparently they don't as they only let him keep two spare uniforms. Of course he still managed to find a way to look decent and respectable as a student of his caliber should! But still!!! It's the principal of things. No one would take him seriously if he looked like a slob-- but, ah...

Digressing, he shook his head as he uncapped the marker. The scent definitely reminded him of school, and at that a few tears welled up in his eyes. How he missed school.... If he thought he was falling behind at Hope's Peak, then he definitely was going to end up being held back a year by staying in this place! A few more tears fell down his cheeks before he rubbed furiously at his face. No! He didn't need to think about that. He was trying to make himself feel a little happier by being here. Shaking his head once more he quickly began writing on the paper in front of him.

Once he was done he pulled back and admired his handiwork. There, that managed to cheer him up! He grinned goofily at his work, blinked, and then gasped.

WHAT...

WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?!

His... His-- The motivational words he wrote down to help him feel a little better about being in this place disappeared suddenly and without warning! He gave an agonized wail as he leaned forward, marker gripped ever so tightly in hand. He re-wrote the words furiously and watched them disappear five seconds later. He kept at it until he couldn't hold the marker up anymore.

"Why... why is this happening?!"
