Applications Two

APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED!
The next application opening date is Friday 16th January, 7pm EST.
The next application processing date is Friday 23rd January, 7pm EST.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.

While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

To see what we are looking for:
Canon Characters:

No problem on the edit. XD Copy-paste errors happen.

Also, no problem about the notebook being blank though it will frustrate the ever living heck out of Takagi. XD

There's not a lot to Hercules Hansen on the outside. He projects the air of an experienced soldier, the cool, calm attitude of a seasoned military man.

On the inside is where you have to look.

Herc has a lot of guilt, self-doubt and self-loathing. Most of this is brought on by the events after the death of his wife during the attack of the fourth Kaiju, Scissure, on the city of Sydney, Australia. It’s during this where Herc had to make a decision; to save his only child, Chuck, or to save his wife. This is something that has haunted the man since that day.
He seems to doubt his abilities, possibly believing that he could have saved both of them if he were better, faster. This was probably the driving force for him to join the Pan-Pacific Defence Corps Jaeger program a year later, with his brother, Scott.
Deployed in Lucky Seven, Herc and Scott completed many successful missions, but Herc’s loyalties would eventually be called into question when, during a mission, he glimpsed his brother doing something that breached PPDC protocol. It was so shocking that Herc nearly lost control, causing Lucky Seven to be badly damaged and nearly destroyed.
Herc reported Scott to his PPDC superiors, this, no doubt, causing more guilt, and possibly a fair bit of the self-loathing. Scott was more than just his brother at this point, he had shared minds with him. However, Herc has shown an aptitude to burying those feeling deep inside. He seems to have a tight control over his memories and his emotions, preferring not to show them too often. Maybe this was a lesson learned from that mission in Lucky Seven, where Herc nearly died from straying onto a memory by chance.
He wasn’t going to let his next pilot suffer the same.

Which just so happened to be his son. Chuck and Herc Hansen were found to be "Drift Compatible," meaning they were capable of the mental link required to pilot Jaegers. They were assigned to the first, and last, Mark V Jaeger Striker Eureka. As a result, the father and son got to look in each other's heads.
From the movie, it’s shown that Chuck has contempt for his father, possibly due to the fact that, being an ADF pilot, he wasn’t around much for Chuck’s childhood, and possibly from the feelings of self-doubt Herc has about the day he saved his life. It would be easy to misconstrue the feelings of inadequacy Herc has to be about Chuck. The Drift is not perfect, alas.
In reality, Herc wishes that he had been around for his son more, wishes he could have taught him better, been a better example, and made him a better person. Chuck’s personality is extremely stand-offish, a clear want to exceed all expectations, whilst sacrificing social connections. Obviously, this isn’t how Herc wanted it to happen, and he blames himself for how Chuck turned out.

Chuck and Herc rarely saw eye to eye. The Drift didn't help matters, however. Whilst the two trusted each other enough to allow a neural handshake, PPDC medical staff were worried that their relationship outside the Conn-pod of Striker Eureka would cause too much friction to let them keep piloting. Herc tried to be a better father to his son, tried to raise him the right way, but, instead, saw him grow to be a cocky, headstrong young man with contempt for anyone he thinks beneath him. He always thought he was too late.

That would always be something Herc would always regret.
When it came for the final mission, the mission to stop the Kaiju coming into our world, Chuck was selected for the, almost certain, suicide mission in Striker Eureka with Marshall Stacker Pentecost. It's here, where Herc thought that his son was going to die, that he would never see him again, that he decided to confront Chuck.

The upshot of drifting with someone, however, is that Chuck already knew what his dad was going to say. He knew what his dad was trying to do, how he was trying to do it, how he felt. In that moment, all of the regretful feelings Chuck had felt over the Drift had made sense. They seemed to reconcile in that moment, but Herc would still regret all the things he never said.

Outside of his family life, however, Hercules Hansen is a respected Ranger, being one of the longest serving, next to Marshall Stacker Pentecost. He's piloted every mark of Jaeger produced by the PPDC and, despite his age, still meets the mark. He's respectful of his other pilots, showing sympathy for their losses when necessary, but not losing sight of the objective. He doesn't show any patience for slacking, helping Pentecost keep Newton Geiszler and Hermann Gottleib under control. He's clearly seen as Pentecost's second-in-command, and proven by the way he assumes control of the Hong Kong Shatterdome after Pentecost's passing.
He has a tight control over his emotions and his feelings, not letting them interfere. This would be due to the incident with Lucky Seven, and the knowledge that he was now fighting with and for his son. He wouldn’t make the same mistake again, he wouldn’t risk his son’s life and the life of the people he was tasked to protect.

The above is most evident in the fight against Leatherback and Otachi, two Category 4 Kaiju, he and his son fend off Leatherback with flare guns. Most notable was the way he introduced the plan: "There's only us between that ugly bastard and a city of ten million people. Now, we've got a choice here, we can sit and wait, or we can take these flare guns and do something really stupid."

His dedication to defending that city, even when his arm was broken from disconnecting from his Conn-Pod harness and Striker being knocked by the Kaiju, even when Striker Eureka was rendered inoperable, and even knowing that they might die, and just serve as a distraction to prevent the Kaiju from running rampant on Hong Kong like it's partner, is a perfect representation of the type of man he is.
There is one instance, however, where Herc loses his composure. This is likely due to the fact that he just broke his arm, their Jaeger was rendered inoperable, and they had a giant monster outside, but when Chuck says “C’mon, on your feet, old man,” Herc explodes with “Don’t call me that!” This is likely due to the ongoing medical concerns made by PPDC Medical that Herc is getting too old to pilot. He doesn’t want to be shown as weak, not when he feels he can keep fighting.

In summary, Herc Hansen is not a man you want to get on the bad side of. He's fully able to hold his own, and doesn't stand for anything against his principles. On the flip-side, he could be a valuable ally for the same reasons. Despite the turbulence in his family life, he won't let that distract him, and always gets the job done, even if it means putting his own feelings aside.

Background

[personal profile] for_redemption 2014-02-15 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Richter was an only child born into a small and simple family. His parents are Marcus and Amelia Alcross, and he has an adoptive homunculi sister and brother, Alicia Masters, who works as a doctor, surgeon, magic researcher, alchemist, and scientist, and Gunner Helman, her assistant. The the Alcross family lived in a small community on the outskirts of new city side towards the mountains, while his sister and brother lived a bit further into the mountains. Marcus worked as a consultant for a big business firm in the city, that paid him a fortune for every consultation, whilst Amelia was a housewife. Richter was being sent to a well known preschool in the area where he met his life time friends, Kevin Frank and Victoria Summers. The Alcross lived happily together spending every moment together day or night, they were a picture perfect family until Marcus had some trouble at work. Something had happened to cause him to quit his high paying job and work at the city bank, but even with his new job the family started to have financial troubles.

Amelia took a job as a school teacher at the local grade school, and Richter had to stop schooling at the age of 6. Though he stopped school, this doesn't mean he stopped his education. His sister, Alicia, tutored him while his parents where at work. This went on for about two years, his parents would go to work, his sister would tutor him, his parents would return and they would spend time with the family. Everything looked like it would work out in due time but sadly, it did not last. On March 23, the night of Richter's 8th birthday, police arrive at the door of his house saying that his parents were killed.

The young Richter did not take their passing well. Even though his sister and brother took him into their home that was at the base of one of the surrounding mountains, he did not make any effort to interact with them. He didn't eat, he didn't speak, he didn't shed any emotion whatsoever, trapped in a pit of despair and sorrow. One day, he managed to gather the strength to walk and leave the house without Gunner and Alicia noticing wandering aimlessly and eventually becoming lost. Soon enough, Richter was found by pack of wolves who had chosen him to be their next meal. Death seemed inevitable until a man had shown up who dispatched the wolves with ease using a sword.

The man's name was Gerard, and Richter took an immediate fascination to him. Gerard took Richter back to his siblings with haste saying that "a brat has no place there" but regardless of the warning, Richter would escape his siblings watchful eye and head up the mountain to see Gerard and he would always be walked back down. This went on for a month but eventually, Gerard would let Richter stay and let him spend the day watching how to hunt down animals. The two shared an odd friendship, mainly because Richter wouldn't say a word but would start to pick on some of the various hunting skills Gerard was using. Finally, Gerard asked the young lad why he was so interested in learning how to hunt and he answered "I want to find who took my parents away from me."

After hearing Richter's story Gerard agreed to mentor the young child, teaching him how to use a blade, identify prints, how to survive in the wild, and how to hunt down man. Like any good guardian Alicia and Gunner were opposed to Richter learning such a dangerous thing, not to mention that he could die while training and so two talked to their younger sibling out of training but, their pleas fell on deaf ears. Their disappointment was apparent, and troubled by guilt Richter agreed to train for only four days a week and the remaining days will be spent however Alicia and Gunner see fit, which was mostly to educate Richter. He had learned much about science, math, language, literature, and music from the two. When he was old enough, Richter learned how drive along side Kevin.

Years passed and Richter's training had turned him into a fine hunter and was ready to go out and find his parents killer. At the age of sixteen Richter dove straight into the underbelly of the city, hiding his face behind a steel mask to protect his family while he hunted down various criminals at night, gathering info and making a name for himself in the underworld. To cover his tracks and make a little money on the side, Richter joined the band of his friend Kevin as a guitarist and singer. The group mainly performed in night clubs in the new city and sometimes, at various charity events at the high school of Kevin. He also took side jobs during the day and sometimes during the night when not much is going on, so he build the image of a regular teen. Those side jobs proved to be helpful in the end since he had gotten multiple contacts and informants that had connections to the underworld, which he took advantage of.

Eventually, Richter had finally gotten a clue about the identity of his parents killer but sadly, the information came at a price. He learned that his father was part of an organization that distributed and produced illegal substances. He worked for a man called "Oz" and Marcus was one of Oz's favorite and closest subordinate, so close that Marcus knew personally. Marcus had gotten feed up with the underworld and wanted out, and Oz had let him thug he was saddened by this. Marcus thought he had gotten off free, but out of the blue, he was killed in cold blood by Oz. No one but Oz knows the reason why, maybe it's to keep his identity safe, or maybe they had a falling out, but it didn't matter to Richter. He found the one who ordered the hit, he knew who he had to kill.

Upon learning about Oz, Richter started to fervently hunt down members of Oz's drug cartel, looking for whatever information he could get his hands on. He started to stay out for days, and when he came home he was usually injured in some manner. Sometimes a multiple gunshots, or stab wounds, or some kind of dislocated bone. His family and friends were worried, even his mentor thought he was pushing himself too hard and losing touch of things around him and in an attempt to try and remedy this, Kevin and Victoria took Richter out for a day in the city. Richter didn't enjoy this and thought of it as a hinderance but went along with them, thinking that it couldn't get any worse. He thought wrong. The two had also set him up to met a young lady named Ciel Phantasia. Richter wanted to leave and be rid of all this girl but she was persistent and wanted to get closer to him.

Richter eventually just gave up at trying to ditch the girl and let her steal him away for a good day's rest. They talked about various things, the state of the city, how she knew Kevin and Victoria, different kinds of people, mundane things. The one thing they had argued about a lot was their view on the city sinceRichter hated it with a passion and believing the city is hopeless, while Ciel loved it dearly and believed that it can be saved. Ironically this is what made the two of them understand each other so well.

Ciel was one of the few people who could cast magic, making animal shaped lights and other things, and this fascinated Richter. She told him that he had a strong affinity for magic but since he didn't practice it, he was pretty poor at it. Ciel taught him the basics of creation but the only thing Richter could make easily was metal objects, mostly chains and continued practicing thinking that it would be useful to him. Eventually, the two had developed feeling for one another and they started to date, though Richter kept his night hunting escapades a secret from her. Their relationship went on for a year, the two spending almost every waking hour together until Richter decided to tell Ciel the truth about himself and his past. She listened intently and was shocked about what he went through and about his efforts to find his parents killers.

This was a turning point in their relationship as Ciel was also hiding something from Richter, her real identity as Ciel Leona, daughter of Oswald Leona the head of the Leona Company, the largest corporation in the city. She hid her name to protect her and her father's privacy but regardless, she had disclosed this to him. One day Ciel surprised Richter but giving him a sword that she had made. The sword was made using an enchanted metal to replicate orihalcum, a legendary indestructible metal. Richter was surprised but moved by the gift and when he asked why, she said that the sword would protect him in her place when she wasn't around. The sword has two edges, but one was dulled to help remind him that taking a life isn't always the answer.

Ciel let Richter do as he pleased, understanding that he had something he needed to do and Richter felt better than he had over the years but he still felt Ciel was holding something back. Sadly, he was right. Richter had struck gold one night and managed to track down one of Oz's personal guards and find out the identity of Oz who was in truth Oswald Leona, Ciel's father. Possessed by rage, Richter immediately confronted Ciel about this asking her if she knew about her father, and about who he was. Ciel broke into tears and admitted she knew about his parents, the she knew her father and that the person Richter was seeking was him and that night, RIchter left without saying a word and disappeared from the radar of everyone he knew. He spent the next few weeks preparing to break into Leona Tower and kill Oswald Leona.

About a week before he storms the tower, Richter went to his sister with a request to implant one of her alchemic experiments in him, specifically, a magic eye called "The Overseer". The Overseer has the power to see far beyond human sight, look through objects, and even look a few seconds into the future, but the eye was extremely powerful and using it could do more harm than good. Alicia was against operating saying that he can't handle it, but Richter was determined to have it and he didn't care if she's the one who does the surgery or not, he wanted that eye no matter what and threatened to steal it and have someone else operate. Knowing that his thereat was no bluff, Alicia hesitantly agreed and performed the surgery, replacing his right eye with the Overseer.

As soon as Richter recovered from the surgery, he started his attack on Leona Tower. Breaking in undetected was an easy enough task, but once he reached the upper private floors the security went up a great deal. The guards were armed to the teeth and there were cameras everywhere, watching every hallway, every elevator and stairwell, and he was armed only with a sword and magical chains, but that didn't stop him. He charged in and fought what seemed like an entire battalion of hired goons but eventually, after a fierce fight, he finally had Oswald cornered. Richter spoke to Oswald about his father and why he had him killed. Oswald explained how his father was his right hand man, how he trusted him deeply, but then when he said he wanted to leave the underworld and live on the straight and narrow, Oswald let him. Then he found out that Marcus was giving the police information about Oswald's drug labs in exchange that his family will be protected. Oswald had him killed for this reason, though he always wondered about why Marcus never gave out Oswald's identity.

Hearing enough of his talk, Richter raised his sword and aimed for Oswald's heart. The old man backed away trying to escape but Richter was fasterand stronger and just as he was about to pierce Oswalds heart and get his revenge, Ciel came out from nowhere and jumped between the two of them which led to her death at Richter's hands. The room grew quiet as Ciel feel to the floor, and Oswald enraged by what had happened, charged at the dazed Richter and trying to strangle him, but Richter at the last minute snapped out of his daze and gave Oswald a fatal slash across his body.

Richter had gotten his revenge but it cost him Ciel's life. Richter stayed with Ciel until her last breath and in that moment she asks him if his soul had finally been released from his hate but he couldn't answer her, instead he weeped until she died in his arms leaving the words, "It's okay…as long as you're free now…". Richter fled into the darkness, his hands still soaked in Ciel's blood and returned home to his siblings who tended to his wounds, physically, mentally, and emotionally. The damage has been done but it didn't stop there, following the death of Oswald Leona and the Leona Corp started to degrade because of an in-depth investigation into Oswald Leona and a search for the masked man responsible for the attack. Oswald's dirty little secret started to come into light, the dealings with the mob, drug trafficking, and other felonies. The various investors of the Leona Corp started to pull out the moment the news about Oswald's dealings was released and the fund of the corporation started to diminish.

The Leona Company perished, and hundreds of people lost their jobs making people desperate which lead to the crime rate increasing. To add this chaos, since Oz had passed, various mafioso's and gangs had emerged trying to take his place leading to turf wars and more drug dealings than ever before. The city entered it's own great depression, and the one who caused it was Richter.

The young man hid himself in the darkness, away from the city he set on a path to ruin, and away from the guilt of killing Ciel. He was set to destroy himself along with the city, but his friends and family wouldn't let him and tried their best to bring hope back to Richter's life and it was his brother Gunner who gave Richter an ultimatum. Either to live life as Ciel would have wanted him to, or to die and end his own guilt and sorrow. The choice was obvious, so he took the sword that killed Ciel and held it up to his heart but before he could drive it in, he remembered that night she died. He remembers how she said he was free, free of anger, free of the chains of hatred that tied him down.

In the end, Richter could not take his own life but he also could not see a reason to keep living. He was stuck in limbo pondering the idea of how can he say 'I'm sorry' to a person who is no longer there. He remembered all the time they spent together, he remembered how she loved Rise City, how she wishes and believed that it could be better. It was then that he found his reason for living, and his path to redemption.

He set out to correct what he had done, donning his steel mask and wielding the sword that carries his sin. He worked all through out the night, stoping robberies, catching thieves, preventing murders, and exposing drug deals. Eventually, rumors started to spread like wildfire among the people, rumors of the same masked man wanted for the murder of Oswald and Ciel Leona now saving lives and perhaps, a small portion of his spirit. He had become an icon in this time, a vigilante that captured everyone's attention. The police wanted to arrest, the mob wanted him dead, and the civilians don't know if he's a hero or another criminal. They called him a monster, a creature from hell, a man that fights with the ferocity of a hellhound, a black guardian. And so it went, at the age of eighteen Richter was given the title "Rise City Cerberus", a three headed devil dog that guards the gates to hell and prevents it's opening. A title he wore with pride as he sought redemption for his sin.

Personality

Distant and aloof is one way to describe Richter. The death of his parents had led the young boy confused, hurt, lost, and angry with little to no way of coping with these emotions. The pain was so great that he had developed a fear of letting people into his life, and those who were already involved were left in a gray area. He kept his family and friends at arms length despite longing for their comfort and affection, this results in him having conflicted interactions about his behavior and lifestyle which only hurts him in the end. He is also prone to dodging any emotional conversations or anything that may bring up his past. He uses sarcasm, wit, dry humor, and bad jokes as a kind of self-defense mechanism to change the topic.

Another form of his emotional defense system is the his alter ego, "Cerberus". The Cerberus was born from Richter's anger, hate, and confusion. In the beginning it's only purpose was to punish those who seek to do evil and seek out revenge for the injustice done to him. Paranoid, untrusting, and violent, the Cerberus is Richter's way of venting out the negative feelings and pain that gathers in his chest. If left unchecked those feelings would have overpowered what little compassion and sanity he has left, but this had changed when he met Ciel.

Ciel had managed to go past all of Richter's emotional defenses and give him what he desired his whole life, love and comfort. She had the capability to change Richter completely, free him of his pain and heal his wounds, but sadly that was not meant to be. Cerberus had achieved it's goal and gotten vengeance but only to kill Ciel in the process, which rekindled the pain Richter kept inside and further deepened his fear of letting people into his life. Realizing what kind of monster he had become, Richter spiraled into depression that seemed like it would end with his death but it was in despair where he found the strength to continue. He had returned to his family and they had accepted him despite his actions and for the first time in years, he had been able to breath easy.

Following her death and the fall of Rise City, Richter had grown to hate himself for what he's done. He grew to hate the word "justice", believing that there is no such thing and that it's only use is to hide one's vengeance and anger. His hate and apathy for people had vanished but he was still emotionally weary and unstable to be considered truly free. His fear of people had also changed, instead of it him being scared to be hurt, is had also grown to fear hurting others which sparked a great change in him. Richter had vowed to not spill needless blood and only ended the life of those who were truly evil. Some would call it justice, to him it was simple a path for redemption and maintaining order.

This was a harsh and lonely path so to survive and endure, he had to make his defenses stronger to support his heart. The pain had remained and grown, adding to this was his self loathing and guilt, emotions that would tear most people apart but Richter had acquired something else to balance those feelings. Resolve, belief, and compassion. These forgotten emotions had replaced hate and apathy and given him the strength to walk the road he chose. He locked away his negative feelings, deeming them a distraction for his cause but since his heart had already been opened once, he is now vulnerable to emotional outbreaks, showing his more human side.

Believing that he is only capable of hurting those around him, Richter's Cerberus had undergone a slight change from protecting him, to protecting others from him. A negative belief born from his self-loathing and guilt, but he uses this as one of his driving force to keep himself moving and to keep his emotional wall together. The Cerberus had turned into a reminder of his sin, something he wears with the hope that he can be forgiven for all he's done.

Beneath all the emotional stress and instability, Richter is still the same small child that lost his parents. Still hurting from the trauma and scared to be hurt any further, he unconsciously seeks the comfort of others hoping they can heal and understand him. In truth, Richter is a kind, considerate, and naturally compassionate. These emotions were simply suppressed by his anger and hate but when CIel came into his life, these emotions came trickling down in small but meaningful gestures. He wants to be loved and wants to love again, but because of his fears, these desires are struck down for the sake of his mission. He sacrifices his wishes to fight for those he's wronged, to honor Ciel's name, and to wash away the blood and sins on his hands.

REVISIONS

[personal profile] folklorist 2014-02-15 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
I'll just write the revised answers to your inquiries here if that's okay? I'll put in into my app as well after all is said and done~

1) The type of abuse Helios suffered is a mixture of both verbal and physical. His arms have scarring on them from the times Nero has lashed out at him and that's why he normally wears long sleeved shirts and such. That being said the verbal abuse was also sort of mental as well. I mean Helios was kicked pretty low by Nero who put it into his head that he was a bother and if he told anyone about his abuse it would tear the family apart. This in turn made Helios a loner as he was mostly by himself at school while other kids played with each other. He wasn't very good at talking (due to his stammering) which Nero made fun of him for, so he figured most other kids would make fun of him as well for it. Also he wasn't very good with physical contact so a lot of kids thought him weird for shying away when they got too close to him.

2) His parents died from medical complications. His mother being the one to get sick first and since they were both soul mates their father died shortly after their mother passed away. Their death was rather heavy on him, because he lost the last living potion of his family that actually cared about him. His parents were always kinda and worried about him even if they weren't around as much due to their work, which was teaching as well. It took him a year or two to finally get out of his depression and go to college to try and make something of himself. At first he went to college as a means to escape, both Nero and his own crippling self doubts about where to go in his life, but when he finally ran into Varron and Elise he found a renewed purpose towards going to school. He enjoyed his mother and father's work so he wanted to keep on with the family legacy and not abandon the school he grew up in. He wanted to revive the school but in his own way but also in honor of his parents too.

3) Basically the whole thing with Apep and Elise is this. Since Helios and Elise were soul mates, and their souls were bound together (each of them having one half of the other's soul), once Apep had possessed and killed Elise Helios became tainted. The portion of Helios' soul that was bound to Elise's soul is the portion that became tainted. He lost his body heat because essentially half of his soul is dead, thus he feels like a corpse. The reason why he hasn't died yet like all other cases of one soul mate dying and the other succumbing to death shortly afterwards is because a small portion of Apep now resides in the portion of Helios' soul that used to belong to Elise.

And that's totally alright about the durgens. I figure I'd just ask anyway! I hope this clarifies things~ if you need me to go into further detail just let me knooow~

Personality: Doumeki is a popular guy at school. Why this is? It’s hard to say. He’s good at sports, he’s on the classroom board, but Doumeki is a guy who’s more seen than heard. He’s far from silent, yet neither does he go out of his way to say unnecessary things, leaving his thoughts to translate through action rather than words. What is said is mostly to the point, though it is good to note that he has quite a biting sarcasm when he chooses to use it.

Doumeki is also a very grounded person. Through his many adventures alongside Watanuki and Yuuko, he rarely seems surprised or startled by any odd turn of events. He takes many things in stride, from meeting kitsune to a rain sprite to finding a dead girl in a house. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t have the ability to get upset by a situation, but he does know how to keep a handle on his own emotions and his expression of them is often more subtle. He is also on the general whole a kind person. He’s not touchy-feely per say, but he often expresses his emotions through action rather than words (a pat on the head, walking someone home to keep them safe, eating their cooking, etc.)

I feel it is also important to mention Doumeki’s grandfather, Haruka, and his influence on Doumeki’s upbringing. Doumeki often talks about stories his grandfather told him, and also that it was his grandfather that had him dressed as a girl when he was a child because of an old tradition that dresses up weak boy children as girls so that they will grow stronger as they grow up. Combine this with growing up in a temple, and Doumeki is now essentially a walking Japanese mythology dictionary. It also gave him a sense of respect and wariness about the supernatural, and enough of a sense to know a dangerous situation when he sees one. We do know that he is an excellent archer, and, because of his level of skill, it is easy to infer that he has been doing it for quite some time.

Doumeki is fiercely loyal to those he cares about, though it may never be said out loud. He’ll go to great lengths to protect those people closest to him. However, that isn’t to say that he’s about to go throw himself under a bus, or sacrifice himself for the greater good. Though Doumeki incurs a multitude of injuries from protecting Watanuki (the loss of an eye [which he then gains back later,] a severe injury on his right arm right before an important archery match, as well as holding onto an exacto-knife blade in order to keep it from stabbing Watanuki,) none of them were done with sacrifice in mind; rather Doumeki was better equipped to handle the situation, and therefore stepped up to the plate in order to protect Watanuki. No, Doumeki has a very good understanding and empathy for the feelings of those who are sacrificed for; in fact, the first time we see him really angry is when someone sacrifices half of their sight for the return of half of his own. On that note, it should also be said that he will go to great lengths to find a solution to a problem if the immediate solution doesn’t work. He will always find some way to use knowledge and information to his advantage. Speaking on him getting angry, his anger is a rare thing, and it’s a quiet, focused anger. He doesn’t get rough unless he has to, but he’s not above it, certainly. He will also go against the wishes of someone he cares about to save them from being hurt. He’ll protect them, even if it means that they’ll hate him.

Abilities/Powers:

Archery - Doumeki is a highly skilled archer. He has excelled in competitions over the years, and practices regularly.

Monster Repellent - Doumeki’s own spirit naturally has the ability to repel supernatural monsters and ghosts. He is repulsive to them; he naturally makes them want to stay as far away as possible. It’s never really explained how exactly this works, only that it’s something that Doumeki was born with and, until he was told about it by Yuuko, had no idea he had that ability.

Monster Exorcism - Doumeki has the ability to exorcise supernatural monsters and ghosts. Using his bow, he creates arrows of his own spirit, which he then shoots at them to exorcise them.

Japanese mythology knowledge - Doumeki was raised in a Shinto temple, not to mention received many lessons in Japanese mythology from his grandfather. He’s a veritable wealth of knowledge in that regard. He also knows how to write and recognize protective wards and spells in relation to ancient Japanese beliefs. His, however, do not have near the power of his grandfather’s; his are weak, at best.

General Physique - Doumeki may not be an Olympian, but he is considered rather athletic. He’s good at sports in general, and at least seemed to have the ability to dodge things that come at him. He is not, however, trained in combat.

Items/Weapons: His bow, a quiver of arrows, and a stone egg.

Sample Entry: Even if it hurt you [Watanuki]…even if it made you hate him…[Doumeki] didn’t want you to vanish forever.

Sample Entry Two: The motion, by now, was automatic. Eyes on the target, fixed on the point he wanted to hit. Reach back to retrieve an arrow and fit it onto the string, against the bow, aim. Draw back the string, breathe in—breathe out, and fire. It was a process Doumeki had learned to almost perfect through years of practice. His aim was unerring, his arrows true. Of that, he made sure of. Before, it had been a respect for the sport that had driven him to do well. Now, it wasn’t an option, it was a necessity. If he missed, then…well, that was something he wouldn’t think about.

Or rather, it was something he tried not to think about, but it was like a persistent voice in the back of his head. It taunted him now, as tendrils of doubt crept into his mind. Would he always be able to protect That Person? Would there would be a time when something would go wrong; when he wouldn’t be fast enough, or precise enough, or his hand would slip just so--and they would be lost, because Doumeki had failed. These thoughts were just enough to distract him, causing his concentration to slip just as he fired the arrow. It hit the target on the outside of the second ring—not a bad shot by any means, but certainly not where his last four shots had landed.

Doumeki lowered his bow, eyes narrowing as he walked to the target to retrieve the arrows. He pulled the first four out of the bull’s-eye, before turning his attention to the last one. It wasn’t far off the target, but just far enough. What if this had been one of those situations? He might’ve missed what he was aiming at completely, and in that case, he wouldn’t get a second shot. They might be lost before he even had the chance to shoot again. The archer gritted his teeth just slightly, the only indication of his thoughts a furrow between his eyebrows. He reached to pull the arrow out with a hard yank, before returning to the firing point. As he stepped back up to the line and prepared to fire again, the voice returned with its ever persistent question: What if you aren’t able to protect That Person? This time, Doumeki pushed it aside. That won’t happen, he thought, because I won’t miss again.

Eyes on the target, fixed on the point he wanted to hit. Reach back to retrieve an arrow and fit it onto the string, against the bow, aim. Draw back the string, breathe in—breathe out, and fire.

This time, he hit the bull’s-eye.

Sorry about that fumble, mods! Thanks for lettin' me know.

Sample Entry Two: Emil wakes more disoriented than he's been in a very long time. "Sebastian," he says hesitantly, fingers splaying out on gritty ground beneath himself, and then, "Nier?" But nobody answers, and he hears no footsteps. In case of any floating allies nearby, he also asks, "Um, Weiss?" but of course that falls through too. His stomach is making this really strange sinking sensation and he doesn't like it. It's one he knows well: it's fear.

Maybe there's no point in asking anyone for help, in saying, hello, so he decides to pull himself to his feet instead. Then he brushes off his hands and his thighs and his bum, trying to get flecks of dirt in the way so that if he does find anybody, hopefully somebody nice, at least he'll be presentable. Finally, and most importantly, he gingerly touches his blindfold, making sure it's securely in place so that the first person he meets doesn't accidentally come into his line of sight. That would be the worst. Unless there are Shades. He'll keep his hand near his face, he decides, to bring the blindfold down if he needs to. But only if he really needs to. With that resolve in mind, he thinks he can start walking.

It's cold, he notices; his fingertips feel it most, unused to any temperature below the eternal summer he lives in. This makes him even more fearful, because he doesn't understand it. But it also makes him more determined: if Nier and Weiss are still here, which they should be because it doesn't make sense otherwise, maybe they're in trouble, and Emil will definitely need to help them if so. He starts to walk, but kicks something out of the way. It clatters, and Emil jumps a little.

"Oh," he says out loud, and kneels to it. Then he's fumbling with it, running his thumb over what he assumes is its surface; it has grooves, a pad that feels like buttons. "Oh, boy," he murmurs, thumbing over the buttons and chewing on his bottom lip. "What is this—"

He will, perhaps, manage to get it working.

Character Name: Timothy Drake
Canon: Young Justice: Invasion
Canon Point: 212 – True Colors
Background/History: Here
Previous Game History: n/a
Personality: Tim Drake is the third Robin of Young Justice, and like his predecessor, he takes the role very seriously. While he doesn't have the natural confidence that Dick possesses, Tim doesn't shy away from responsibility when it's placed on him. He takes his work as Robin very seriously and does his best to complete the mission, even if it doesn't always go his way.

While not exactly timid, Tim can be a little too humble and polite for his own good. He's confident enough in his abilities and aware of the trust set on him, but he doesn't take credit for accomplishments he believes weren't his own. When Dick congratulates him on their first mission, he was quick to say that he didn't actually do much for the mission compared to the others before he was interrupted. Similarly, he keeps his professionalism even under pressure, and while he does get frustrated with certain teammates (like Arsenal), he still kept his objectivity in his report to Dick. He gets flustered and frustrated when people deviate from the original orders, but still manages to work with the situation presented to him.

He looks up to Dick as his predecessor, obviously pleased when he's recognized for his efforts. They're very close as well, being the only ones who know each other's names (prior to Impulse telling Beast Boy about it) on the current team. As a member of the team, he tends to value the protection of civilians over his own, prioritizing them even on the off-chance that he could get in trouble. This was shown when they rescued the hostages despite having only four minutes left for the self-destruction of the alien base. It was risky and could've killed everyone, but he deemed it a necessary risk for the team to accomplish. He's a natural leader as well, having led teams on two very different occasions without much protest from them. Of course, this doesn't mean there's no friction, considering Arsenal did blow up part of the lab they were investigating which had nothing to do with the original orders.

As Tim doesn't have super powers like most of his team nor the natural athleticism that Dick has, he relies heavily on close combat and weaponry. While not exactly reckless, when Tim gets into battle, he's quicker to attack up close than rely on projectiles. He's good enough that he can take on several smaller enemies on his own, but as he's still human, this backfires when he faces any meta stronger than he is.

Tim's quiet by nature unlike his predecessor, which becomes more obvious when paired with someone like Impulse or La'gann. He's more of an observer, though this doesn't seem to be the case when it comes to Dick, who he's more comfortable with chatting about things. With the others though, unless he's giving orders or telling them off for deviating from the plan, he tends to keep quiet, adding to his already serious personality. He doesn't question his teammates' quirks or their reasons despite their odd behavior (like Blue Beetle talking to himself or Bart's blatant disregard for mourning) unless there is a good reason to, just like Arsenal blowing up the lab in one of their missions which compromised them. Basically, unless he has to, he doesn't pry. It could be a byproduct of his own secretiveness, seeing as he doesn't exactly let others know his real name or civilian identity like the rest of the members of the Bat family.

Despite being humble though, Tim doesn't like being belittled. He shows minor offense at the idea that Nightwing was going to let him lead Gamma squad because it was considered the team with the easiest mission, only to be surprised when Nightwing tells him not to die instead.

There's not a lot stated in the actual show about him because he doesn't talk about himself as much as everyone else (or talk about himself at all). However, it's safe to assume that he has a close relationship with Batman, Batgirl and Nightwing, and may have also looked up to Jason when he was still alive unlike their comic counterparts. Seeing as Young Justice canon also makes sure that all the members of the team have their parents' consent in letting them be superheroes, he doesn't have the issues of hiding his secret from family members either. His closest friend on the team seems to be Nightwing as well, and he never questions his orders or his motives even when Nightwing hides secrets from him, showing that he trusts him.

Abilities/Powers: Here. Unlike most of the members of the team, Tim is still only human. That means that he submits to regular human limitations and cannot take the impact head-on like everyone else does. He relies heavily on weaponry and martial arts over heavy hitting, as well as planning out strategies that highlights their strengths and weaknesses in order to protect the team. While he doesn't have Dick's natural athleticism, he makes up for it by fighting harder in a battle.

Tim is skilled with a staff, showing that it's his primary weapon against enemies in any situation. The tip of the staff is also electrically charged, possibly to give him an advantage to make up for his weaknesses, which he triggers depending on the circumstance. He's been shown to use exploding batarangs, tasers with grappling wires and smoke bombs among others, but only when necessary.

Items/Weapons: Collapsible Bo, grappling gun, rebreather
(I’m assuming since he comes with his uniform, the utility belt and his computer should be on it. However, the utility belt will be empty, and the holo-computer would be wiped of all written data. If this one isn’t okay, I’m fine with the functions disappearing from his R-symbol and gloves so they’d be deadweight. Please let me know!)
Sample Entry: Here
Sample Entry Two: His first reaction was to stay in the shadows.

His second reaction was to try to contact Nightwing or Mal.

His third reaction? Recon, which was not doing him as much good as he hoped when the second reaction failed to produce results. The place he landed in was completely unfamiliar, devoid of the corn fields of Smallville or the grimy alleys of Gotham. His initial thought was that he had been inevitably captured by the Reach, which was not a good thought to have, but that wouldn't explain why he had been unconscious in an unfamiliar bed in the dead of winter. Besides, they weren't that careless about things as loathe as he is to admit it. After all, these were the same guys playing a bad game of cat and mouse with them. A game that he doesn't want to think they're losing.

The oddness of the place struck him when he realized the moment he left the house he had been in, the outside looked like a scene from a post-apocalyptic movie. The billboard didn’t help any. For a moment he could feel the worry gnaw into his bones, make him want to panic until he reminds himself that if Nightwing had been in his situation, he would be able to keep his cool. If Batman was there, he would be gathering as much intel as he could.

Intel was good.

Tim closed his eyes momentarily, breathing deeply and ignoring the foul stench of the alley he had been hiding in. First, he needed to do something about his clothes. It was broad daylight, and considering he didn’t exactly enjoy swinging from insane heights for traveling purposes, he’d have to go through the normal means of walking on the street inconspicuously. He can’t do that in uniform. He pauses for a moment, indecisive, before he decides to try contacting Nightwing again.

"Robin to HQ. Come in HQ."

The resounding static (one he was starting to get too familiar with) did nothing to ease his worries, and he had to resist the urge to bit his lower lip in anxiety. He can do this. He knows he can.

"Okay, Tim. Let's get this over with."

He just hoped things would work out as well as he'd want them to.

Character Name: Ted
Canon: Suikoden series
Canon Point: When he orders the Soul Eater to claim his soul
Background/History: Here
Previous Game History: n/a
Personality:
Ted has seen a lot of things in his life, probably more than a lot of other people, and while he may look like a teenager, his eyes will tell you a different story. Still, despite having such a rocky and complicated past, Ted is able to keep a cheerful smile around people, especially those he cares about. This is because by this time in his life, he has met Tir McDohl, his one and only best friend, who has greatly influenced his life in the years that they have been together. On the first meeting, he may be a little more withdrawn and shy, as shown in the radio dramas and the official manga (and seemingly the Gaiden as well), as he isn’t very used to people. Once he starts warming up to them though, he is really friendly, and would often try to be the one to encourage others (or rather, Tir) to go on adventures and the likes, even to the disapproval of Gremio. He likes to tease people he is comfortable with, and he can jab at them once in a while to keep the mood up. He teases Tir with women in the game, just like the one time that Leknaat mentioned that Tir was a cute boy, and Ted started teasing him. He also has a tendency to spout out some sappy words, whether intentionally or not, which are usually sincere. It must be noted that a lot of the positive things he does usually, if not exclusively, occurs around Tir in-game, and to an extent the rest of the McDohl household, as he doesn’t normally interact with people outside of the group.

He’s easily excitable, enjoys good food, and likes to go on adventures with Tir. He doesn’t like punks or obnoxious people, and his attitude could easily change depending on who he interacts with. He’s also very loose with his words, and more often than not doesn’t realize what he’s said until he’s said it, whether it’s offensive or not. This is shown a few times in the game, especially with Luc and Futch, as he had called them both punks, and in retaliation, Luc decided to teleport him to a high point and drop him unceremoniously on the ground while the others had a decent landing. Futch on the other hand got into an argument with him because he called him a punk and Futch called him the same, which was also the time Ted nearly blurted out his real age (a tactless move, and most likely an unconscious revelation) only to be stopped by Gremio. He is also rather rude to others no matter what position they may hold, as he was rather flippant with Kanaan when he felt he was taking too long to get to what he wants when he summoned Ted to go with him, only for Windy to capture Ted at that moment.

While on the surface, he can seem to be just any regular teenager, Ted has had a lot of personal development, nearly three hundred years of it. He still has a tendency to keep things to himself, and he doesn’t just trust anyone either. He keeps a lot of secrets, whether it’s his age or his past or even his rune, and even to Tir, he has never revealed this despite how long they’ve been together. However, when he does trust people, he sticks by them forever, and he would do just about anything for them, even give his own life. He’s a very loyal friend, if not a bit too easily attached, though this mostly comes from the fact that he’s never had friends before Tir McDohl, so he tends to want to be with him as much as he could, even to the point of sometimes sleeping over at his house even if he supposedly lives elsewhere. (If Gremio’s words were to be believed when Ted didn’t come back home for supper, he probably spends more time in that household than wherever he lives as he’s practically a part of the family.)

Once put in a serious situation though, Ted’s personality changes almost instantly. He takes things a lot more seriously, and he tends to think a lot more clearly. He’d always try to make sure that he doesn’t involve others into his problems, or that they weren’t in immediate danger, even if it’s the cost of his own safety. This was shown when he used the Soul Eater Rune on the Queen Ant so it couldn’t kill them, and when he told Tir to run away while he stays as bait so they won’t get caught. He doesn’t fear death, having lived as long as he have, which also could be the reason his decisions, although helpful, can be rather reckless on his part. He is also far more gentle and sympathetic, as opposed to his more boisterous and cheerful personality. He also tends to focus at the task at hand more, like when he tried to break away from Windy’s control long enough to tell Tir what he was planning to do, and immediately execute it afterwards so that the rune would take his soul and thus releasing him from Windy’s control.

Even while he was slowly dying, Ted showed a lot of care for Tir, and even then it could be seen that he really did trust him, as he wouldn’t have given him the rune in the first place if he didn’t. He may have felt a lot of guilt for putting that burden on him, as the whole time he had been in Windy’s clutches, he was still able to see what was happening to Tir due to being the Soul Eater’s recognized owner still, hence he was able to witness them through the rune. However, in the end, he seemed to have found peace in his death, as he knew that he could rely on his friendship with Tir that the younger man would be able to protect the rune in his stead.

Abilities/Powers: The Soul Eater Rune, also known as the Rune of Life and Death and the Cursed Rune, is a rune that basically devours the souls of the bearer’s loved ones. Basically, the rune creates circumstances around the bearer in order for their loved ones to perish, then it will take the soul in order to grow stronger. According to the novels however, he had figured out a way to overcome that side of the rune, so what’s left would be the magic he can invoke. More information can be found here)

• Deadly Fingertips – Inflicts instant death to one enemy
• Black Shadow – Stronger damage (300 DMG) to all enemies
• Hell – Inflicts instant death to all enemies.
• Judgment – Very powerful damage to one enemy

(Note: I’m totally fine with powering down the rune if necessary. The instant death type attacks in canon only works against regular enemies, so I assume that to translate this in-game, stronger characters than him would be able to survive it and just get badly hurt. There’s also changing it to the attacks he had in Suikoden IV instead. Please let me know if I need to adjust!)

Also, as he has been traveling for a long time, Ted has shown great mastery over any type of weaponry, though his preferred weapon is the bow and arrow. Even in Suikogaiden, he remarks that he could use something the moment he holds it, whether or not he’s used the weapon before. It comes from years of having to fend for himself. Though it’s not applicable in this game, he’s a very powerful mage, especially with the Water Rune in Suikoden IV, so if he’s equipped with the right rune he’d be very formidable.

Items/Weapons: bow and arrows
Sample Entry: Here
Sample Entry Two:
He should’ve been more careful about what he asked from the Soul Eater.

Ted grimaced when he finally had enough time alone to inspect his right hand, noticing the mark that was embedded on it as if it belonged there. It did, once upon a time, but he didn’t think that it would follow him all the way to the afterlife… or its current equivalent, since this place was pretty hellish in itself. Still, he supposed ordering it to take his life was a good moment for it to return to its former master before he came here.

Hopefully Tir was all right. He probably should be, even without the rune. Windy knew better than to fight without making sure that they can’t fight back. She plays dirty like that. He sighs, slipping his hand back into the glove as he ponders on what he’s going to do now. It… sucked, for the lack of better words, but he knew it was for the best.

Of course, he kind of thought dying would be a lot more climactic, but then he’s lived long enough to not be fazed anymore.

The weird thing was the how, but he didn’t want to think on that right now. He was stuck in an unfamiliar place, and while he knew of the desolate future that the runes have predicted, he doesn’t think this is quite the same as what they had in mind. So exploring was probably his only real option at the moment. With his roommates gone, it meant he had room to venture out on his own.

Guess he can start by greeting the locals then. He grabs the coat his roommate left and fixed his scarf, pushing himself off the bed in order to get a head start on his task. Hopefully, this place isn’t as bad as it seems.

(He’ll find out later, of course, that it’s much worse.)

Also, because it was pointed out to me that there's also a comics!Tim on reserve, I'll just add a small section here to point out the differences of both Tims. I hope that's fine.

  • The Teen Titans were never formed in this universe. Neither was Young Justice, despite the canon name. Tim was immediately part of a special ops squad of the Justice League rather than a separate team. Thus, he never becomes the leader of Young Justice or Teen Titans, and his only moments to show his leadership are when Nightwing assigns him as team leader for the squad.

  • Unlike in the comics where Tim kept his dual identity a secret, the YJ:I-verse required all of the underaged members' parents to sign a waiver for their kids to participate, so it's easy to assume the same happened with Tim.

  • The Light wasn't in the original comics, despite being the main enemy they have in the cartoon.

  • The family dynamics in the cartoon is different, where Batman seems to be more supportive and caring of his crew, Tim included, as opposed to his very dictatorial way of handling the members of the Bat family in the comics sometimes. There doesn't seem to be any resistance to him forming a team.

  • While there are similarities in the personalities, Tim in the cartoon tends to be more serious in personality and less aggressive in his approach. He's also a lot more quiet and less likely to make quips.

  • He's also less confident about his plans and ability compared to his comics counterpart.

  • Cassie ends up with Tim instead of Conner. Tim is also not best friends with Conner or Bart, though he seems to get along with Bart in the cartoon well enough.

Character Name: Kimihiro Watanuki
Canon: xxxHolic
Canon Point: 119 -- post window fall
Background/History: c a n o n | w a t a n u k i : 1 , 2

Personality:
Compassionate yet easily excited, Watanuki is a smorgasbord in more ways than one. With a tendency toward transparency (largely unconscious), he fits the cliche of wearing one's heart on one's sleeve; having deep capacities for both kindness and commitment, he is quick to afford these things if moved. That said, he is also rather silly, expressive in cartoonish gestures and melodramatic statements, especially where points of self-conscious affection (see: Himawari) and points of unreasonable contention (see: Shizuka) are concerned. There are cases in which he appears almost painfully dense (i.e. thinking a corpse is a doll) but most of these situations are so extreme, one is not off-the-mark to infer he may be using denseness as a buffer between himself and a truth he knows after all. His flamboyant motions on the other hand are no such pretense, merely impulsive and over-the-top (called on it by Shizuka no less) and as telling as a beach flag on a windy day.

Anyway.

Orphaned to his youngest memory, Watanuki harbors a quiet seriousness as well, however. He generally treats everyone with a formal politeness tinged by his innate compassion. An often inconvenient combination of empathy and ignorance many times find Watanuki given over to letting people have the benefit of the doubt, even if much evidence suggests they may not deserve it. But it is important to note that he is very capable of judgment too. Through his experiences at Yuuko's shop, he bears witness to numerous horrible things and handfuls of miraculous, surprisingly wonderful things and each of these shapes him. Some of this has to do with his semi-blank slate status before the events of canon.

"I will do anything that I can do."

Jumping back to that 'benefit of the doubt' problem, Watanuki also has issues with snap-judgments often ending in some kind of sacrifice. In part, this is because he fails to properly value himself, a fact which while not heavily dwelt upon, is stated several times -- that Watanuki must learn even saving someone can leave scars, that an eye for an eye is, in reality, nowhere near so simple as the words would have it. At other points, it is his heart that trumps self-preservation, such as when he continues to meet with a spirit who is slowly killing him even though she means him no malice (in fact tells him to stop coming.) When she asks why he came anyway, Watanuki tells her (give or take the translated version), "...you're lonely. I'm lonely too." This offers insight both on a part of Watanuki not much addressed directly -- his loneliness, that sense of otherness, a gap of being later explainable by a blank of memories -- as well as an obvious problem in relatively constant play: his recklessness. This repeated facet of his personality could be ruminated on endlessly, but some of it boils down to having always been left to himself, his own choices without the consequence of others connected to him. Still more of it stems back to a sense of guilt involved with the deaths of his parents (who he can't remember) -- the sense that somehow it may have been his fault, which opens up a whole other can of worms and isn't something tackled head-on as much as through various episodes of understanding whether or not that's true -- whether this spirit-attracting nonsense is because he is guilty or just bad luck or hitsuzen (the inevitable) -- he has new responsibility. Because his world is not just his own.

And so it is reasonable to say that his history -- both remembered and not -- makes it impossible for him to remain unchanged, as do more significantly, his tasks and trials in conjunction with the shop, in connection with Yuuko, Shizuka, and Himawari. With Yuuko he has begun the long process of gaining a more comprehensive understanding not only of his 'ability' but also his place in the existing worlds. With Shizuka he has the chance to know the difference between what it is to kamikaze versus what it is to save. And with Himawari he is finally coming to terms with as harsh realities: that some things cannot be changed, but on the same token if they cannot be changed one must still choose what one does in regards to them. Stay or leave. The difference between running into danger and handling it. His natural tendencies yet engrained in past decisions, these are none of them over-night, many of them wretchedly slow progress-points, but they are there nonetheless and integral to both who Watanuki is at the beginning of his canon and who he is at the point he is pulled: drawn back from the edge of death, the sound of glass and bloodied hands reaching to comfort him in the dark as he tries to be brave enough to admit he is no longer alone...that he has not been for some time now.

Abilities/Powers:
» can see dead people spirits, inclusive of ghosts and just beings of the spirit plane
» is also a spirit attractor basically :( numnum Watanuki
» on that note, he is also the best cook ever uwu not even kidding
» apparently good at sports but uh he doesn't belong to any clubs etc so lol loser
» can sense spiritual power of a kind, but this ability is largely displayed in a negative fashion, i.e. when bad spirit stuff lurks near, he gets dizzy or has trouble breathing, or sees a dark haze, etc.
» errr he can also enter a dream plane but that's not something he can control, more like a REALLY INCONVENIENT THING THAT HAPPENS TO HIM IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET etc a lot 8( probs wouldn't have any significance in a game tho since it's all very uh plot-involved in canon ~_~ abluh

Items/Weapons:
(1) the pipefox Mugetsu? is this allowed? ;_; can change it if not considering it is a living being....
(2) er...his glasses
(3) ...

[ Not a stranger to technology, operating the device still takes Watanuki longer than he'd like anyone to know, which makes it convenient that no one has thus far been around to bear witness. He sighs. A look at the broadcasts suggests he is not dreaming; or if he is, this is by far the most convoluted, overwrought dream he's had the trouble of being part of. The energy of this space feels strange too, much of it leaving him with a sense of distant discomfort, but he can't articulate it even to himself. So he ignores it, speaking into the receiver. ]

Hello? Excuse me. Can someone tell me where I am? Hello?

[ He doesn't know why he asks twice but he doesn't take it back either. ]

I may have come here by mistake. [ A self-deprecating chuff of laughter... Ah...that is, if this... if it is a dream...ah but no it... or whatever it is, I would like to know. That...er.

So I know how to get back.

[ Not that it's been that simple for him before, but there is much to be said for talking oneself down from a panic. ]

Um.

Answers. Would be. Appreciated. Thank you.

[ He stops and starts awkwardly, and when he sighs again it's loud, an audible eye-roll at himself as on his side of the device he adjusts his glasses and snaps off the recording. ]

Sample Entry Two:
Smoke glides out around him, cloud-like and vague.

"Ahn..."

His voice mutes itself along all the edges, and he drags himself upright only to stare all around him into darkness. His glasses having slipped down the bridge of his nose, he adjusts them, vision focusing even as the light scatters -- fractured by a burst that ripples throughout it, shaped like butterflies. Somewhere in their midst: a light, taking form. He needs to get closer, and he tries.

But moving is like trying to speak with no voice.

He tries anyway.

Precisely how much time passes, he couldn't say, but enough of it goes by and he thinks he is getting closer. It feels nearer. Almost, he can sense the life in it: a fluttering sense of warmth.

Alive like a heartbeat.

Hand reaching out, his fingertips illuminate upon brushing with the gleaming shadow, and when they touch he sees -- just for a second -- the bright outline of a bird...he blinks and it's gone.

What?

He blinks again and finds himself in the kitchen, the water running to nearly overflowing the sink and his hands in mild peril of one another as he nearly chops a finger off while cutting the vegetables.

"Shoot!" he exclaims and drops the knife, hears it clang and clatter to the ground. Biting back a sigh, he kneels to retrieve it and hurries to turn off the water, using the yet-draining contents of the sink to briefly wash the knife. He washes it again for good measure when the sink empties and he can run the water scalding, feeling more present for the way the heat stings along his skin, though even that happens in a dullness, his thoughts far off elsewhere.

"Who are you?" he wonders aloud but no one is there to hear, not on this plane or the next as far as he can tell.

A bird.

For some reason he thinks then of a butterfly in the dark. Yuuko.

He finishes the meal, assembling three bento boxes with a care and naturalness that leaves his mind free to wander still, though he tries to rein it in. One for Himawari, one for himself, and one for stupid Doumeki. Stupid Doumeki who is not by strict definitions actually stupid, but whose name feels more comfortable there with that modifier. Tying off the tops of each, he frowns, pushing his glasses back up the bridge of his nose with the back of his hand.

Later he needs to get groceries. Yuuko eats and drinks more by the day; he'd put money on it if he could. Maybe he will see if Himawari is busy; they could go shopping together. His heart lifts at that, almost a physical brightness to the thought. In his future peripheral vision though, there is a third presence as well and he grumbles non-words about it was he sheds his apron and kerchief. By now it is normal, the three of them, or as close as it gets around him, but he finds reason to complain anyway, though after the spider's grudge, after everything, if it is ninety percent bluster, he isn't copping to it.

What part of him, what all of him does know though is that even when he is alone, his own small unit feels less lonely.

He wonders when that started to happen.

A blink over his shoulder however has him flailing through the rest of the morning, running pellmell to school. Late.

He'll blame Doumeki and his bottomless pit of a stomach, perhaps, the trio of bento clutched protectively to him as he runs.

Character Name: Armin Arlert
Canon: Attack on Titan ( manga )
Canon Point: Chapter 51
Background/History: armin @ the aot wiki
Personality:

❝I'd rather die than become a burden.❞

In a series full of prodigies and powerhouses, Armin Arlert is an incredibly unassuming young man. He's soft-spoken and articulate and more or less polite ( though he's not above poking fun at Jean's face every once in a while ). Graduating far below the top 10 cadets in his year, he originally suffered from crippling self-doubt that held him back from his potential. Growing up, he was consistently bullied and beaten by the boys in his town for his “heretical” views, and always needed to be saved by the stronger and more capable Eren and Mikasa, his best friends. Years of his supposed dependence on them had left him with a need to assert his own competence. We see this early on in one of his first appearances - Eren offers to help him up after a fight, but Armin refuses the offer, stating that he doesn't need help to stand. Reiner offers to carry his pack during training, but he replies that he’d sooner die.

These self-esteem issues are those that he's still working through, but he's made good progress through the validation of his friends and comrades. There's a defining moment in the series where Eren and Mikasa tell him that he's saved their lives in the past, and Armin realizes that despite the disparity in strength between them, his friends never thought of him as a burden. They trust him with their lives. He eventually makes a speech that ends up saving them from being executed by firing squad. Being able to find his niche, and recognize that he's no longer useless in the eyes of his peers has allowed him to become more confident in his skills. He still has those moments of self-doubt, but he’s also much more forthcoming with voicing his opinions and theories, even in front of powerful people in the military.

Speaking of his friends and comrades, Armin’s loyalty is one of his most forthcoming traits. He’s proven time and time again that he’s willing to protect those around him, even at the cost of his own safety. He gives Mikasa his remaining gas for the 3D gear when she runs out, and asks to be left with one blade because he’d rather avoid being eaten alive - implying that he’d take his life in order to give her the chance to escape. He attempts to protect an unconscious Jean from an oncoming titan with a single sword. In order to save Eren from Annie’s titan form, he proposes a plan where he and Mikasa act as bait. When he suspects people in their group of friends of being traitors and titan shifters, Armin admits that he was hesitant to jump to such conclusions, because he hadn’t wanted to believe that their friends could betray them. Armin’s loyalty is tempered only by pragmatism. When asked if he’d be willing to die for their cause, he replies that he’d do so if he understood why he had to die, if doing so would serve a purpose, despite his own reluctance. Armin lives by the understanding that people who can’t throw anything important away can never hope to affect change in the world -- and time and time ago, he shows that this means his own life, if necessary.

This understanding of the world manifests in something akin to a utilitarian view of morality, best exemplified in his defense of their commander Erwin Smith after a particularly damaging military mission. Jean insists that the plan was wrong, because innocent soldiers could have been saved. But Armin disagrees vehemently. It’s easy enough for them to decide on “rights” and “wrongs” in retrospect, with all the knowledge at their disposal. In the heat of the moment, he accepts Erwin’s choice -- the deaths of hundreds of soldiers over the potential of humanity’s destruction. Even while he remembers his squad leader Ness, who was killed on the mission, Armin reiterates that those actions were not wrong. He states that while Erwin might be a “bad” person for his actions, he’ll accept that as legitimate. He believes that people who have the ability to toss away their humanity are the ones who can truly create change.

❝ A good person, huh. Well, I don't really like this way of putting it. I feel like these words are simply what people use to call those who are convenient to them, and no one can be convenient to all. You may be useful to some people, but at the same time a bad person to others. Annie, if you don't help us now...to me, you will turn into a bad person. ❞

This fluid understanding of morality is further explored when Armin attempts to manipulate Annie into a trap designed to reveal her as a traitor. But more importantly, his attempts at manipulation are bolstered by his keen mind and observational skills. Armin seems to be able to gain an understanding of people and use that information in an effective way. When Eren loses control in his titan form, it’s Armin that gets through to him where Mikasa had failed by appealing to his desire to see the outside world. He purposefully attempts to enrage Bertholdt by telling him about Annie’s supposed torture because he knew that they were comrades and it would spark an emotional response. This was a very deliberate action on his part, and it pays off. Bertholdt goes beserk, Erwin uses that opportunity to stab him. They manage to save Eren. The moral of this story is that Armin is willing to be ruthless and manipulative if it means the success of the mission or the protection of those he cares about.

Though he’s not much of a soldier, Armin has the potential to be a brilliant tactician when he’s given the opportunity to be. He’s the one who originally comes up with the plan to retake Trost, and it’s his plan to retake the supply chambers that saves all the trainees during their first fight. He’s also the person who manages to figure out who the titan shifters are among their group of friends, noticing minute details like the bumps and scratches on 3D gear and piecing together other scraps of evidence.

Ultimately, Armin is kind and brave and shrewd, and a boy with big dreams to see the outside world one day. His thirst for knowledge was never tempered by the fact that such ideas were considered abnormal and heretical. More than anything, he wants to see what lies beyond the walls, and all of the grand and glorious things he read about in smuggled books. And he’s probably best summed up by Annie’s blithe words: ”You’re weak as hell, but you’ve got guts.”

Abilities/Powers: Armin is a soldier trained in the use of the 3D maneuver gear, which is basically a system of harnesses that allows him to shoot cords from his hips and swing his body around for peak mobility. He also possesses training on how to use the specialized swords that all soldiers use for killing titans. He’s very smart and a pretty remarkable tactician. Otherwise, he has no supernatural skills, and graduated at the bottom of his class when it comes to the physical fighting stuff.

Items/Weapons: - 3D maneuver gear
- gas canisters ( like the regular amount. four? something like that )
- three extra blades
Sample Entry:

( the video feed clicks on after a little bit of uncertain poking, revealing some blonde hair and part of a face because of the angle he's holding it at. after all, he comes from a place without much in the way of modern technology, so the cell phone feels entirely out of place in his grasp. but there's a little green light blinking up at him, so that means it's working, right? or so he's guessing. )

Hello? Can anyone hear me?

( there's a little more fumbling. armin might be a smart kid, but this is something completely foreign to him so it'll take a while to get used to. it's better to assume that people can hear him and move on. )

My name is Armin Arlert, from the 104th trainees division. I'm...looking for some answers, if there's anyone out there listening to this.

Firstly, I'd like to know if there are any gas deposits here. ( so he can refill his 3DMG. it's a long shot, but there's probably no harm in asking. he takes a deep breath before he poses his second question. )

Secondly, there was a sign on the wall where I woke up. "In Haven, we are all safe...together."

Safe from what, exactly?

( he's telling himself not to be afraid, but this place is a little nerve wracking. it's new, and he has no way of knowing if there are any familiar faces around or what dangers lie ahead. it feels a little too much like being blind. )
