We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.

We now have a test drive community at haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.

While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

Flat | Top-Level Comments Only

While the majority of the application looks fine, we would like to ask for a revised history section.

The reason for this is that we feel parts that would be important to Helios were glossed over - for example, Nero's abuse. It was never mentioned exactly what sort of abuse he was suffering and how it came about that Neros turned to abuse from sibling rivalry. As well it wasn't mentioned how his parents died and how that impacted him. Secondly, the section regarding Apep reads as confusing in parts. We would please like a clarification of what exactly Apep did to Elise to hurt Helios, and how/why he is tainted as well.

It should also be noted that, as pets are not permitted in Haven, that the dragons would not arrive with Helios.

I'll just write the revised answers to your inquiries here if that's okay? I'll put in into my app as well after all is said and done~

1) The type of abuse Helios suffered is a mixture of both verbal and physical. His arms have scarring on them from the times Nero has lashed out at him and that's why he normally wears long sleeved shirts and such. That being said the verbal abuse was also sort of mental as well. I mean Helios was kicked pretty low by Nero who put it into his head that he was a bother and if he told anyone about his abuse it would tear the family apart. This in turn made Helios a loner as he was mostly by himself at school while other kids played with each other. He wasn't very good at talking (due to his stammering) which Nero made fun of him for, so he figured most other kids would make fun of him as well for it. Also he wasn't very good with physical contact so a lot of kids thought him weird for shying away when they got too close to him.

2) His parents died from medical complications. His mother being the one to get sick first and since they were both soul mates their father died shortly after their mother passed away. Their death was rather heavy on him, because he lost the last living potion of his family that actually cared about him. His parents were always kinda and worried about him even if they weren't around as much due to their work, which was teaching as well. It took him a year or two to finally get out of his depression and go to college to try and make something of himself. At first he went to college as a means to escape, both Nero and his own crippling self doubts about where to go in his life, but when he finally ran into Varron and Elise he found a renewed purpose towards going to school. He enjoyed his mother and father's work so he wanted to keep on with the family legacy and not abandon the school he grew up in. He wanted to revive the school but in his own way but also in honor of his parents too.

3) Basically the whole thing with Apep and Elise is this. Since Helios and Elise were soul mates, and their souls were bound together (each of them having one half of the other's soul), once Apep had possessed and killed Elise Helios became tainted. The portion of Helios' soul that was bound to Elise's soul is the portion that became tainted. He lost his body heat because essentially half of his soul is dead, thus he feels like a corpse. The reason why he hasn't died yet like all other cases of one soul mate dying and the other succumbing to death shortly afterwards is because a small portion of Apep now resides in the portion of Helios' soul that used to belong to Elise.

And that's totally alright about the durgens. I figure I'd just ask anyway! I hope this clarifies things~ if you need me to go into further detail just let me knooow~
