We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.

We now have a test drive community at haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.

While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

It had been a long time since he'd last thought about what Ao's face looked like. He'd been small when he'd last seen it and now he felt sad that he could no longer remember the look of it. The man had meant the world to him but memories could be fleeting things, there in a moment and gone in the next. At times it hurt that he couldn't recall and yet..

And yet, he accepted it as he stared at Yona while she talked with Kija and Jae-Ha on the other side of the fire. He'd wanted to remember Ao's face so he could properly tell him about how he'd found a home and a family with these people but knew when it was best to give up. The man likely would have growled at him, told him that they weren't meant to have friends. Sometimes he could still remember what his voice sounded like in the night, anger, the irritation, the warmth of his body when he held him to keep him from being afraid when he truly couldn't find the will to get up anymore.

He missed him.

Yona laughed and he tilted his head, not really understanding the joke that had been told to her but apparently Kija didn't find it appropriate. Not that this stopped Jae-Ha from looking proud of himself, preening with delight over the various reactions he was getting. Shin-Ah wasn't sure why he would find it funny to do that but it was nice to see the delight on his face.

He missed Ao but he didn't at the same time. He had this. He had the Dragons, he had Hak. Shin-Ah had Yona who was excusing herself to come over to him. Right away she plopped down with a sigh and he tilted his head to the side wondering why she'd come to him. She didn't say a word though so he decided that things were fine and returned to watching the others moving around. Even if he didn't always understand the humor, it warmed his heart to know that he was allowed to be included in moments like this, that they actually wanted him around them.

They cared enough to want to be near him even if he was a monster. For whatever reason, they refused to see him that way. On nights like this, it meant more to him than any...thing...

That was a small hand sneaking toward his sword. Immediately, he grabbed it and jumped up to run away. Yona looked frustrated that she'd been caught, demanding he at least let her try to use it. Panicking, he shook his head a lot, hugging the weapon to him then took off running. The last time she'd used it, she'd cut her finger on it so he wasn't about to let that happen again. Her safety was important to him which was why he ended up hiding around a tree, staring around it at them who all stared back in confusion.

Oh. He supposed that he should probably say why. Yet, they were talking again, moving on. Zeno was distracting Yona from thinking about stealing swords which made her safe again, something he was grateful for. Though, the wink the Yellow Dragon gave him was rather baffling.

In moments like this, he was so happy to no longer be lost in the darkness that he forgot about the pains that came from missing someone he would no longer see again. One day he would find a way to repay them all, Yona especially.

Until then, he settled for just watching over them, relaxing as they all fell into their individual tasks of preparing for dinner.

I'm not alone anymore. It was a little thought but it made him smile for just a second before he ran over to help Yoon with chopping vegetables for the stew when he was called over. Being useful was important to him, whether it be with his eyes or with his hands preparing food. Whatever they needed.

As long as it wasn't Yona using his sword, of course.
