We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.

We now have a test drive community at haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.

While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

Previous Game History:
I’ve played this version of Kongou Agon in one prior game: Holly Heights. While there he was stripped of a lot of the distractions of his flashy and materialistic lifestyle and his status as a worshipped talent was replaced by his obscurity in the eyes of his housemates. He struggled coming to terms with the fact that not only was he not catered to, but many others around him had talents that far surpassed his own. It forced him to learn a little caution…

But certainly not enough to keep him from introducing drugs to Holly Heights after requesting marijuana plants for an event reward, dislocating the arms of a fully humanized Hetalian, and running a smear campaign against Hiruma and anyone else that irritated him, the last of which ended up resulting in more than one successful arrest.

By the time he left he’d learned a little more about humility (despite how his offensive and blustery nature belied that truth) and what it was like to live as a “common” man, to reflect on what life might actually be like without his distinction as a superior breed of human. Here’s hoping that Haven will push that the rest of the way, and I suspect it’ll do just that.

Personality:

Honestly, he's an unpleasant guy in a lot of ways so that's what's worth discussing first and foremost. He is arrogant to the point of pure delusion, extremely self-centered, manipulative, violent, rude, inconsiderate, and easily-angered. I could keep going, but instead of just listing adjectives forever I'll go into a little more detail to illustrate just what a charmer he is.

Highlights include throwing a football at a child in a wheelchair, sabotaging his team in order to make himself look better, severely beating (multiple) street gangs, attacking other players on and off the field (judo chops and dislocation), stealing a car, planning to wreck that same car not five minutes later while at high speed in order injure or kill two of his teammates in the back seat (while helpfully mentioning that since he himself is the only one with an airbag, it'll be fine), assaulting the lead female after she refuses his advances, ensuring that certain main characters cannot go to his school to play football entirely out of spite, and threatening death upon a good half of the people he meets. Also, one of the extra pages reveals that he made a pushy scout disappear mysteriously, and the man still has not been seen since. Um.

As I've referenced before, the most central aspect of his character is his innate talent and the effects that this has had on his psyche. He says repeatedly that all he wants to do is beat down those who have less talent than him and seems genuinely disgusted by the idea of people improving through hard work. The only person that he recognizes on his team as being useful is Ikkyuu, another player who is acknowledged as a genius, though even to him he's disrespectful. He's quick to defend himself and his ego, repeatedly thinking in his matches that if he didn't have to play with such trash then he would be doing much better. This pride is something that is used against him by Hiruma, with the latter having little trouble in provoking him into a rage.

He also genuinely just seems to be a sadist, getting clear pleasure from the misfortune of others and stating more than once that he just enjoys crushing people's spirits completely. When Sena first speaks with him he describes Agon as being nothing like just a delinquent, but rather says he feels that he has just come into contact with pure evil.

To add to his already glowing list of positive qualities, he's also a vain ladies' man. The vanity is shown by the fact that he's constantly changing his hair (he likes to dye it blond when it's not in dreads) and complains about having to wear clothing he doesn't find stylish. As for the ladies' man bit… Well, it's rare to see him off the field and not with a woman. He has no trouble getting one on his arm whatsoever due to his exceptional social skills (read: ability to lie), and frequently is seen with more than one at a time. One of the reasons he's willing to help Hiruma initially is because Hiruma would introduce him to women in return… which doesn't stop him from insulting these women, acting violent towards them, and moving on after one night. An extra page states explicitly that he's never had a girlfriend, just a lot of girls.

With all of this said, he does care about his brother as is shown in the Youth Cup. I was going to put more positive qualities here but I can't think of any.

Abilities/Powers:

His most notable ability is referred to in the manga as his "God-speed Impulse"; essentially his reaction time pushes the limits of human capability. The catch is that he has to see his opponent in order to respond, though this is only a problem for him twice. Because of this reaction time (which is said to be impossible to attain through hard work) he is also extremely good at picking up on techniques or plays and is shown to copy complex maneuvers after only seeing them once. This extends to other areas of his life, such as learning to ride a bike and also to driving a car evasively (to escape police, imagine that).

Aside from this he is highly intelligent and very athletically gifted, alongside having great social skills when he actually feels like trying. He's also a good guy to have in a fight, seeing as how he has a lot of experience in street brawls and is never seen to take a single hit in one. His record for the 40-yard dash is 4.6 seconds and his bench press is 130 kg/286.6 lbs.

Items/Weapons:

His trademark Oakley Juliet sunglasses are a must, of course. Aside from that he’s likely to have his wallet and (if permitted) a few marijuana blunts.

[ The midday sun’s constant attempts to peek through his windows is thwarted not only by slatted blinds but furthermore by a heavy blanket thrown haphazardly over glass panes, with one snag in the material mated semi-permanently to one of the runners in such a way that it has yet to fall. Not that the light would have much of value to illuminate.

The floor’s strewn with garbage, from a two day old empty pizza box to a collection of beer cans (which have been equally un-wasted). The nests of clothing piles exhibit a unique sort of gaudiness, from vibrant designs and colors to gold chains still tangled within their confines, and the tackier of the patterns comes in the form of leopard-print boxers that the lazy body reclining on the mattress is still wearing as he holds up his phone. ]

Yo, you pieces of shit. You know what today is? If you don’t, crack open a fucking calendar and ready the red ink. I know all manners in this heap are either steeped in obsequious bullshit ‘cause y’all are fake as fuck or they’ve dried right up, but you know what? Just for you, I don’t give a fuck what your motivations are.

Time to celebrate another year of me on this Earth, so you know where to mail your presents. Don’t leave me waiting.

Sample Entry Two:

There was a satisfying crack emitted from his shoulder when he rolled his arm, not really one to prepare for games but just stretching wasn't going overboard. If some of the trash on the line failed to properly protect him, one well-timed tackle could do a fair amount of damage. Not that he expected that kind of thing, not from their current opponents. He surveyed the field behind dark shades, impatient as he ever was as he awaited the kick-off. Now that they were already set up and in position it was a fucking nuisance to stand around doing nothing. Why was the opponent taking so long?

If they were intelligent, it would be because they were scared. His lips twisted into a dark grin as he stared at their opponents, too cocky to even imagine a scenario wherein his team failed to take them down. This was always a good moment. Seeing the determination in their eyes... and then seeing how it would turn into pure despair when they faced off against true talent, against something they had no hope of combatting.

The ball soared through the air with the first kick and Agon was reacting faster than anyone else on that field, rushing to reach it before it would touch the ground. After seeing how quickly he'd get possession of it, things would change. Their expressions would change.

This was why he liked football.

Specifically we want more details about the character's growth in Holly Heights and the changes he went through. You went into some detail about it in the Previous Game History section, but the mod team feels this is a short summary when the character seems to have been in the game for a long period of time. The things mentioned in the PGH section and Personality section don't match up quite due to these changes, so we want a little more information about them.
