APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN!
The next processing date is Friday 11th October

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every two weeks, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. If you wish to request a specific apartment, please do so in the relevant part of the application. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Every attempt will be made to place a character in their chosen apartments, though this may not always be possible depending on the slots available.

Applications are open constantly, but are only processed every other Friday at 7PM EST. The Saturday following acceptance, an IC mingle log will be posted for characters to be introduced to the game.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old.

Tres Iqus / Trinity Blood / Reserved

[personal profile] tres 2012-11-23 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Name: Ena
Contact Info: enabeans@plurk
Other Characters Played: Alphonse Elric, Cain Knightlord
Preferred Apartment: None.

Character Name: Tres Iqus, aka HC IIIX Hercules Tres Iqus, aka Gunslinger.
Canon: Trinity Blood
Canon Point: During the search for the 'Lady Saint'.
Background/History: Here.

Personality: Father HC IIIX Tres Iqus is one of ten "Killing Doll" mechanical soldiers created by Vatican scientist Professor Gepetto Garibaldi, and because of his cyborg status he does not seem to possess any more emotion than a machine would be expected to. However, he does have a human brain stem, and has been seen to make decisions that could be deemed as illogical on a few occasions – the most notably when he declares he is ‘out of bullets’ instead of fulfilling his orders to kill, and then showing he is certainly not when he shoots an enemy a few moments later.

Aside from these extremely rare minor displays, Tres is in all ways a perfect machine. He will follow orders with a precision no human could attain, and his actions are always irrefutably logical. He does not follow the usual human pattern of tact, and will bluntly speak of things other people may use euphemism for.

The main drive behind Tres is his boss, or owner, Caterina Sforza. She came to him when he was near-destroyed and offered him a position working for her in the AX. He refused, but agreed to become her possession instead. He is almost obsessively protective over her, and when his missions send him into the field away from where he can guard her, it has been noted he seems anxious to return to Rome and her side.

His loyalty to her is absolute, as shown in a fight he engages in with the only other Killing Doll to survive (IIX) he replies to the statement ‘You are only a machine’ with the words ‘Negative. I am the Duchess of Milan’s machine.’

Abilities/Powers: As a machine, Tres is capable of a few things that 'normal' humans aren't. The first of which is information storage and processing; he can store mass amounts of accurate information in his memory processors, and calculate possible outcomes with mathematical precision.

The greatest, and most important, of his abilities is his 'gunslinging'. His guns are specially loaded with silver-tipped bullets and he most commonly wields two at once. He can calculate pinpoint accuracy, draw, and fire in millionths of a second. He has no mercy (or very little) and will generally shoot to kill.

Sample Entry: [This was no longer the Vatican, the architectural style not even speaking of Rome any longer.]

Requesting communication with Sister Kate Scott.

[He waited for 3.5 seconds for a reply, receiving nothing. If he was out of range of Sister Kate’s transmissions then he had certainly been transported far from where he should be. The first course of action, therefore, would be to put out a transmission open to all AX operatives and make contact with the nearest.]

This is HC IIIX Tres Iqus, codename "Gunslinger". Requesting contact from AX operatives.

Additional: Previous Game Post.

Sample Entry Two: If a machine could be said to be unhappy, then Tres Iqus was a distinctly unhappy machine. The moment he had arrived in this city, he had run diagnostics to determine his location, as well as activate his internal tracking and GPS to pinpoint how far he was from the Vatican.

None worked. He must be severely malfunctioning to not be able to tell where he was or how to return to Rome, an internal memo was filed and flagged as high importance to speak to Father William Wordsworth once he returned for repairs.

It took 0.54 seconds to run through all potential logical reasons for his relocation to an unknown place, and whittle them down to the most probable. There was to be an assassination attempt on the Duchess of Milan, and her bodyguards were being scattered. A hand went immediately towards his gun holster, lips already forming the flat words: ‘Battle system: Initiated’ when his fingers met thin air instead of the metallic butt of a gun.

Weaponless.

The situation had now moved into urgent, and there was no more time to wait in idle speculation (of which he had already wasted 0.76 seconds), he must find where he was and who was responsible. Opening the door to his room, mismatched eyes processed the hallway as he set off looking for answers.

Previous Game History: Abel is being ported from [community profile] mayfield_rpg, where he resided for a little more than a year as the 'father' of his house on Albright Lane.

The very nature of the town itself was something of a great factor in his growth; considering his lifestyle in the Trinity Blood world, having a 'normal' job in a 'normal' town, being separated from obligation and responsibility as a member of the church -- and thus no longer having any guidance from his superiors was a rather big deal. From his childhood to the present at the age of 977, he had never had the chance to languish and understand what it was to simply be a man separated from the duties and expectations others set on his shoulders, or told how to reach his goals by those he came to rely on and trust whole-heartedly. To be honest, he was more than slightly lost without it -- especially when the repeated events and traumatic incidents that hit his family and friends hard were things he could not protect them from, meaning he was helpless and nothing but a man as they endured their trials.

One of the most influential points Mayfield offered was one that existed right from the start -- when Abel woke up in town, he did so under the very same house as his partner, Esther Blanchett, and his twin brother (who had been deceased in Abel's timeline for centuries), aged down to an innocent ten year old and ignorant of his horrible future. His life was something of a 'second chance' in so many ways -- he was able to see his precious brother again, to be the sibling he felt he had failed to be the first time around -- and to try to protect and make him happy in repentance for the sins he had not yet transgressed in Cain's memory. This was obviously a huge adjustment for both of them, and there were a great many pitfalls along the way -- but inevitably despite their age gap, both of them were tied together even more tightly than ever before. Abel began to understand his brother in a way he hadn't ever been given the opportunity to when growing up beside him... and Cain was gifted with the brotherly love he had always wanted but was denied by his distant and angry twin. This time was nothing short of precious to both of them and something they would never forget, even if it was wrought with pain and tears as well as contentment and affection.

His relationship with Esther also changed and mutated over the course of their time in the town; because the nature of Mayfield was to make a man, no matter his physical strength or otherworldly ability, completely helpless and no more powerful than an infant, he and his partner were left on a surprisingly even field. Abel was unused to this -- the power of Crusnik and his promise to his dead soulmate meant that he was always the masochistic protector of man, the one who had the strength at his fingertips to do whatever it took to save those around him. He was used to being at the top of the food chain... But failing time and time again to accomplish things that would have weighed in his favor at home was a major blow. Esther began to teach him that it was alright to rely on others -- to fight and trust his comrades, and to stop seeing every scratch and bruise as a personal failure, to let it defeat him. Learning to trust his friends and to walk a path with others, not so alone -- to trust her in particular -- was a giant milestone.

Alongside his relationships with Cain and Esther, there were others that memorably touched and affected him -- especially Charles and Ciel, both from worlds other than Abel's own. Both became close enough to be considered something like family in his eyes, similar to the bond he has with his comrades at home; they fought side-by-side, and in times of duress -- it was them Abel inevitably could turn to. This was the first time that he was gifted with the ability to make 'friendships' outside of those born of a direct relationship with the Vatican or 'work'; these people may share a town with him, but there was nothing dictating their closeness otherwise. Even so... in a sign of how far his friendships with them progressed, it was Ciel, Charles, Cain and Esther who attended the very first birthday party he ever had thrown in his name by 'humans.' There are no words to describe how memorable and deeply profound this was to him, a show of what it was truly like to be 'loved' not for any grandiose or wordy thing, but... for simply being 'Abel.'

It was gaining that sort of closeness with Charles that seemed remarkable despite his prickly demeanor that meant worlds to him; it gave him hope and faith in his ability to comfort and protect others not as the monster and sinner, but the man -- even if that man still had a heavy penance to pay. Likewise... it was learning what it was to be a 'man' to a 'woman' who inspired far too much contentment in a soul he believes deserved the distinct lack of it that moved him so greatly; Ciel is an amazing influence... causing him to question the path his life has been on and his most masochistic tendencies. She is softening the edges of a self-loathing that's existed for centuries, giving him hope and belief in the prospect that, perhaps.. perhaps he could learn to be happy through the happiness of others, inspired not as a protector or any grand thing -- but by being himself, and the comfort he can offer as nothing more than a normal and simple-minded human being.

Not all development has been positive. He has taken significant hits in his insecurities and fears; Mayfield's events were often horrific and traumatizing, and while Abel was not personally subjected to much of its tortures firsthand, watching those around him suffer bred the feeling of uselessness and ineffectiveness by leaps and bounds. He has watched people he loves die before his eyes, seen them bleed, observed them endure torturous miseries he would have taken upon himself tenfold to save them from -- but been powerless to do so. For a man who considers the value of his life next to nothing to begin with, having his 'purpose' stripped of him in this way has been a heavy burden to bear along with the rest. None-the-less, he refuses to give up -- and that will not change, no matter how far he's hammered into the ground. As long as there are people around him, loved ones to goad into smiling again... he will pick himself -- and them -- up, and keep moving forward.

The most notable mod-run events that left the deeper and more lasting marks on our hero in Mayfield's history were:
- Thanksgiving: The town deteriorated to a nuclear wasteland. Considering the untoward memories this brought about, Abel was less than fond to say the least from the get-go; however, the fact that he had not regained his abilities or durability as a clone or Crusnik meant that he expired from radiation poisoning. He left his little brother in the care of Clark Kent, and died to be resurrected at the end of the event. He's told no one of this to this day.
- Dr. Johnson's experiments: The NPC Dr. Johnson briefly held control over the town; during this time, a great majority of its citizens were kidnapped night by night and found the following morning experimented on in crude and often times grotesque or horrifying ways. Their minds were played with; their bodies warped -- Cain was one such victim. Abel spent days watching his brother fearful even of him, afraid he was on the brink of death and being hunted by unseen enemies. She holds a special place in his heart... the place where all the lingering rage and bloodlust goes, of course. He isn't fond of doctors who play mad scientist to begin with, but hurting his kin is an unforgivable transgression. She might be one of the only individuals Abel would legitimately break his promise and kill if given the opportunity.
- The Carnival: Cain lost his life when a trip through a funhouse lead to a bubble-dimension of a 'prototype' Mayfield. Cain was beheaded inside of it by a glitch portal (or corrupt data pocket in the simulation).
Personality: Abel is, at first glance, a rather unassuming and pathetic priest with a distinct sweet tooth and appears impossibly hard to take seriously whatsoever. And, if he had his way, you'd think no more of him than that - he'll gladly chat you up for hours regarding just about anything - the weather, local news, how nice your shirt looks, oh my what a pretty sunset...! all the while never truly revealing much of substance about himself or letting the conversation get too serious. He can seem vacant and flighty, but it's all a facade hiding something much more than one might expect.

At 976 years old, "Father Nightroad" is actually a genetically enhanced clone - one of four - injected with "Crusnik" nanomachines which, upon activation, transform him into a 'vampire eating vampire.' They alter his appearance and behavior, acting like a sentient parasite that's only purpose is to kill and destroy. The more he uses Crusnik, the less he's able to resist its pull, the temptation to fuse to 100% and become a slave to its will calling to him. He considers Crusnik a "mark of his sins," a side of himself he hates showing anyone and prefers to use only as a last resort when absolutely necessary - and those sins don't paint a very pretty picture.

For all his light-hearted banter and warm smiles, Abel utterly and completely loathes himself - and perhaps for good reason. He has no self-respect and considers himself a monster; long before he held the title of 'priest,' Abel was 'Contra Mundi' -- or 'enemy of the world.' Born a clone whose purpose was to herald mankind into the future by colonizing Mars, Abel was treated like a lab rat and 'tool.' He loathed the mistreatment of his kin, and unlike his twin brother (who he was directly cloned from), he wore his rage like a second skin. He became bitter and openly hated the people he was supposed to serve. Violent, disobedient, mouthy and off-putting, it came as no surprise when he ended up attracting the ire of those above and beneath him to the point that there was an attempt on his life. When he was given the power of "Crusnik," he used it to help begin a cycle of genocide to rid the world of humanity once in for all. Abel is single-handedly responsible for over seven million deaths -- not counting those he aided his kin in further destroying. They leveled cities; they plunged the entire Earth into a state of near inhabitable emptiness that came to be known as the "Dark Ages." If not for Lilith Sahl - the woman who loved him and saw that little spark of humanity buried under so much fear and hurt and longing to be accepted, loved... he might have continued on that way forever and wiped out mankind.

When Lilith was killed by the Crusnik nanomachines puppetting his brother, Cain, he realized the full scope of his errors in judgment, how far he'd fallen -- and effectively ended the war by killing his (already dead) twin, taking her corpse with him to Earth, and requesting to be sealed away in her crypt beneath the Vatican. It was there he remained for the next 800 years of his life... hoping for a death that wouldn't come to reunite him with his soulmate and his just desserts for not realizing the fate his brother had suffered ages ago to the monster behind his eyes. The only woman who had ever held out hope for his soul - and died for him to see it, too. If he hadn't been given a purpose in Caterina Sforza's accidental discovery of his sealed-up and still grief-ridden form ten years ago, he would likely still be locked away from the world in his dead lover's crypt. He tells her he can't not protect humans; it's his duty to keep on living, to protect humanity and undo the damage he's wrought in his past, to carry Lilith's love into the future and continue her work where it left off.

And so he loves the world and the people in it; he hates seeing suffering and sacrifice. If there's something he can do to ease someone else's pain, chances are he'll go to great lengths to do so. In the same breath, he can be a selfish and childish creature. Even when he knows it causes those who trust him pain, he'll very rarely if ever be truthful about both his past and his "other self;" he fears to damage the friendships he's made and frighten those who've put trust in him by showing them what he truly is (or to face the reality of being shunned for it, just as much). And, more than anything, he is almost constantly doing battle with his conscience that tells him he doesn't deserve their trust, their friendship, at all. So, chances are a great deal of his interaction with the world will remain superficial and shallow; he'll befriend you, lend you his shoulder, fight by your side - but the chances he'll genuinely let you see who he is are slim to none.

Abilities/Powers: Abel is a genetically modified human clone of his brother, Cain Knightlord. Beyond this, he injected himself with the Crusnik nanomachines which gift him with various abilities based on the amount of their power utilized in 'release states' at any given time.

Crusnik are, in effect, a parasitic machine that feeds on the bacillus in a Methuselah's bloodstream as a fuel source. They are normally dormant; when activated, they transform Abel in various ways depending on how much of their power he exerts. Abilities include:

- PHYSICAL ALTERATIONS. Sizable increase to strength, speed (can use a type of particle acceleration, like "flash step", that makes him move so fast he looks like he's teleporting), stamina, and senses. Gains fangs; claws; wings, and the air pressure around him drastically changes. He can also create a scythe that changes appearances from a hammerspace in his body utilizing the nanomachines.
- REGENERATION. He can heal from wounds quickly, and piece himself together from just short of literal dust, though it will take much longer than say, regenerating from the loss of a limb or hole in chest cavity etc.
- BIO-ELECTRIC CURRENT. Creates and can control lightning. Basically, he can shoot lightning/create fields of electricity from his body to use as a weapon to the point of ionizing particles in the air to cut to a fine point, explode and incinerate, or electrocute anything around him.
- DEFENSIVE/OFFENSIVE WINGS. His wings can be feathery, but also have the ability to become sharp as razors to touch; they can slice through steel and bone, as well as form a shield around him capable of deflecting laser cannon fire from an airship.
- ACID-LIKE BLOOD. Abel's blood is full of the Crusnik nanomachines; they can form little mouths which can eat flesh/muscle/bone like acid as well as infect and control other technological creatures. They're typically used to eat his own fallen flesh when he's injured and are re-absorbed through his wings to aid the regeneration of his body. The nanomachines are also capable of telepathy with the bacillus (which infects Methuselah (or vampires) in the Trinity Blood universe).
- TECH SAVVY. He was created and raised to be an advanced tool of mankind for colonizing another planet. He is an expert at security systems and hacking, as well as being a capable engineer.
- MARKSMEN. He is shown to make incredibly accurate and impossible shots in canon with what's been dubbed the "Peacemaker" revolver, equipped with reinforced silver bullets.
- TANK. He gets blown up and sliced apart very regularly, and always gets back up to finish the job.
Sample Entry: An entry from Mayfield!
Sample Entry Two: Gravel crunched underfoot as the priest's eyes raked over the naked and raw landscape of a city proclaimed as... ah.

Haven.

Blue eyes are sharp behind old, thick bottle lenses... and Abel's gaze traverses the depressing scenery with no shortage of some sort of numbness. This was not what he expected to open his eyes to when he hadn't even recalled setting his head down on his pillow to sleep... The buildings in disrepair; the smell of rust and stagnancy in the air that suggest a lack of traffic; the heavy aura of something grim and unsettling... it was all...

Familiar, in a less than pleasant way.

Plucking the old-fashioned frames from his face, he looks on his newest environment with a grimace that seems fitting the sober landscape. How on earth had he gotten here...? Was this the work of Dr. Johnson? It seemed irony at its best -- that she would toss them from Mayfield's meager comforts to yet another hell-ridden concoction containing whatever godforsaken miseries lied in that twisted woman's imaginations. As much as he wants to believe this is a good sign -- that her taking persona touches mean she is beginning to feel 'comfortable,' which suggests a greater probability that she will slip up...

...There isn't much to inspire hope in this at all.

But first thing is first. He needs to locate others -- whoever made it to the ill-named town will likely be just as confused as he is, but potentially less equipped to deal with the doubtless dangers. As useless as Mayfield's proven Abel can be... God knows why, but -- his feet refuse to keep moving. One in front of the next, right...? If there ever were a time he wished he had paid better mind the lessons the sincerest men of the cloth taught inside the Vatican's walls, the last few months of his life were it.

--Ah, ah. Enough... the setting is depressing enough, mm? Cain is probably wondering where he is; they didn't wake up together this time... and he's got to locate the others. There would be time for philosophical musings later. Now... the priest must fulfill his promise, and protect the humans as best he can. Whether it's inevitably as man, priest, or monster is a question he leaves to his fate.

Previous Game History: Ciel's been at Mayfield for two years (September 2010 to November 2012). Quite experienced in matters of torture, both physically and mentally, Mayfield's bloody tendencies left her largely unimpressed, from her first day to the last. Her mobile line of work already made it so that she rarely connected with people (there's not enough time to make 'friends' when you move around and never stay anywhere for long - Japan being the one exception, but yes), and coupled with her personal history, she was much better at dealing with loss through droning than most. If anything, placing her inside a nuclear family allowed her to continue the charade that she played back in Misaki City: take up the normal role of a normal person, and pretend that her life was never anything more. Ciel went from being a kind, patient, and occasionally eccentric third year senior to a kind, patient, and occasionally eccentric 'mother'. The added mold of housewife and teacher gave her even more freedom of acting, though in a roundabout way, this "play" allowed her behave more faithfully to who she truly is more than ever before - heck, even more than she herself would've bargained for. The role of an adult required more maturity and sense of responsibility than that of a student, and while Ciel is physically still a teenager with girlish tendencies, 'motherly' describes her true nature best. Mayfield's imposed mold lifted her from the nosy but nice older sister trope to a full time mother henbear. With more people to support through thin and thick, she never let loss discourage her. Harboring the belief that while wounds on the body can be healed, those on the soul take far longer - if ever, she's been especially insistent on keeping up positive morale. Like in canon however, she got close to others while they can rarely say the same the other way around.

She was outgoing during her first year, did everything to support her new friends and acquaintances. She made a big mistake with Shiki, but they eventually made up and she was inspired to keep pushing. She even conducted the ceremony in which he married a girl he fell in love with in town, but unfortunately, the couple was droned shortly after they got together. Their leaving are among the latter of a string of continuous droning of virtually every person that she's grown close to during the past year. She could keep going, but it became very tiring. She'd greet newcomers and explain the town to them, she maintained her cheerful smiles, but after the first year, Ciel became much less keen on becoming attached to others. Having key figures like Sakura and Archer droned and coming back - more than three times each, even, and every single time, without any memories of their previous stays, was especially taxing. She understood that it couldn't be helped, they had no control, they can't do anything about it, but... It was still disheartening. The feeling that no matter what you do and how hard you struggle, it won't amount to anything in the end. A canon update during which she 'returned' home convinced her that nothing that happens in Mayfield matters. She'll honor the memory of the people she met thanks to this town, but in the end, no difference she makes in their lives would count. Yet there she still is, in that town, trudging forward and picking up the pieces left behind by those who are gone.

That led to a questionably healthy resolution during her second year. It's the motto Shiki himself held: to just live the present. She won't concern herself with the future, but she can't afford to have the past drag her down and hollow her out. She grew more reserved and more outgoing at the same time. She didn't stop approaching others, she just did it less. She started to worry a little less about long-term consequences, and started acting a little more as however she truly pleased. She was still careful about the latter, however. She's an expert inquisitor, after all. She can't risk going too soft, becoming too merciful. Trek down that road too far, and she'll become far too easy to kill. Mayfield isn't a town where sentimentality is safe or easy to harbor, but neither was Ciel herself easy to sway, her mentality and modus operanti both hardened countless of times through various events, back home and in Mayfield.

...Or so she thought, but it seems that wherever she went, life liked to prove her wrong. She approached less people, but due to her own kind nature that she cannot change, it inevitably made it so that the few bonds she did held became unimaginably strong. Ciel still snarked at Arcueid, but in a place where the True Ancestor's been notably weakened, Ciel has never failed to do her best to support the ditzy vampire and work together with her when the times were dire. Charles was a thing, too. The fact that she's patient and cheery but secretly a killing machine deep down made it easy to handle his temper tantrums and aggressive physical quips. He learned her physical superiority the hard way, and it's entirely his fault that she grew a bit too fond of trolling and being overbearingly motherly. Marisa's story is similar. Situations were strained sometimes, Ciel nagged, Marisa talked back, but despite arguing often, both truly enjoyed their time together under the same roof playing as 'mom' and 'daughter'. Ciel partly figured that it didn’t matter in the end, but Marisa remains as the first (and only) person she’s personally confessed her past to openly during their last few days of Mayfield. And then, there was Abel. "Bird of a feather" was the only conclusion one can draw. He was just as hypocritical as she was, if not more. Through friendly small talk and sobering admissions when either of their masks cracked, however, she's began to try doing something she thought she never would again: rely on someone else. Seven works alone. She still strongly disagrees with how the priest sees the world: he's too kind, too soft, he can't pull the trigger when it matters, his ideals are too innocent for him to have to dirty his hands. Nevertheless, through cumulative small steps of give and take, she's slowly shedding aside her role of a killing machine to accept her human identity of being a 'woman', and to not rush into everything on her own like always.

Really, it was over-indulging. She really shouldn't be playing at mothering unstable vampire children or outgoing rebellious witches, much less pretend to be a normal girl who's lost her life years ago. Still, Mayfield has undeniably provided her with the opportunity to care for others extensively like she had very little chance to back home, so for that, she became more honest with who she is. So... it looks like she failed to keep her own quirks in check and ended up over-investing herself, after all. Hopefully she can afford to have her edges dulled; she really wasn't counting on remembering all those fuzzy moments, having bargained on forgetting everything once she was through with that town.

Personality: Ciel is first introduced in Tsukihime as a cheerful, chatty, and compassionate, third year senior. She might be a bit strange to follow sometimes and has a frightening obsession with curry, but she generally gives off the air of a kind, mild, well-mannered, polite, reliable, smart, and even motherly older student. Sure, she’s not without her quirks, but generally, she gives a nice relaxed image of someone who goes by her pace and can follow another’s well. She’s also very good at keeping her calm. Even when angered or upset, she can hide her dismay well behind her flawless and very convincing smile, so her presence is generally always considered to be a soothing one. She is always ready to support someone in their time of need too, willing to listen to their troubles and giving them tips when she can. A good example is in her own route, where she finds Shiki soaked and miserable in the park after he ‘killed’ Arcueid. She proceeds to take him in like a lost duckling, but refuses to listen to his pity speech. Shiki was convinced that he was a bad person because of whatever he did, but Ciel tells him that the moment he is remorseful for whatever crime he thought he committed, he is not a bad person. She never allowed him to go into details why he felt so guilty, jokingly brushing it off as something she didn’t need to know. As a constant of Shiki’s school life (or so he thinks, anyway), she is always there as a comforting presence, offering to eat lunch with him and hear him out to get him to relax and calm down.
The picture of a good normal girl is a façade, however. Ciel’s true nature is cold and methodical. Her character is sober, her personality is serious, and her actions are methodical. She is in fact an elite vampire killer who works for the Holy Church, and disguised herself as a student in order to get information on Roa, the vampire who ruined her life that’s ordered to be eliminated by the Church. Above being an Executor, Ciel is a Burial Agent, the most ruthless organization inside the church that would resort to heresies to accomplish their goals. In accordance to the organization’s motto, Ciel can tell lies without batting an eyelash, manipulate people through unethical hypnotism to suit her needs, and engage in very underhanded acts to get the results she seeks. She is also capable of putting up the extremely cold and ruthless mask of an indiscriminate killer for the same purpose. Demonstrated in Powered Ciel's story mode in Melty Blood Actress Again Current Code, her voice and expression are strictly controlled, barely showing any emotion whatsoever. That’s because she can perform self-hypnosis on herself to frame her mindset into that of a detached and mechanical individual who would be more efficient at fighting. Able of clear thinking and sound reasoning even under heavy pressure, she can be very dangerous and highly competent when she needs to be.

That, however, is still another act. Elesia was a kind and loving girl, and even after all that she's been through, this part of her she cannot change. Ciel is a nosy person who would be all up in the business of the people whom she cares for. Even when she deceives them, it’s usually for their own good. She is inherently gentle and wants people close to her to be happy and well. She may proceed generally under the modus operandi that the end justifies the means, but understanding pain well and knowing how hard it blows to be at the wrong place during the wrong time, she would work her hardest to keep innocents out of the way even if it's at a great detriment to herself. She knows full well how sad and painful dying fully is, which is why she is so insistent on trying to talk Shiki out of the highly dangerous vampire hunting business he got roped into by promising Arcueid. Hardened greatly by her personal experiences, she's by large disillusioned by the world, and while she's usually a mild person, she finds herself more often than not voicing reason that she could only wish Shiki would listen to. Still, despite the fact that she has antagonized Shiki in the main storyline, she openly tells him that if there was one person that she wants to show her merciful side to, it would be him. Another contradiction, even there: she's proven time and again to be capable of letting other "heresies" slide, using the bigger picture as an excuse to not be as ruthless as she could/SHOULD have been. This is mostly proven through Arcueid route, where she took the greatly weakened Shiki who could barely stand back to the school upon his request, in order to reunite him with Arcueid for the final fight against Roa. She even admits there, albeit subtly, to be envious of Arcueid for having Shiki love her so strongly, but knowing her own role to be purely supportive, she assisted him regardless. In Melty Blood, she ultimately let Sion go because she trusted Shiki to keep an eye on her, and that her mission, first and foremost, was to eliminate the Tatari. Catching the Alchemist and returning her to Atlas is second to that, so as long as the Tatari still roams, she can overlook Sion. Additionally, in her own route, attempting to kill Shiki was a very hard decision for Ciel to make. If Shiki refused to take off his glasses and face her on equal terms, she would be utterly incapable of shutting of her human side and kill him in cold blood: she would have beaten him up around a bit, but ultimately crack and completely break down in tears once she's forced to come to terms with the fact that he is dear to her. She can't do that to a person who just smiles and accepts her for who she truly is, willing to take on death for her sake and tell her it's fine despite knowing how much she's lied and hid from him from the very start.

All in all, she's caught between two extremities; detachment and care, coldness and warmth, ruthlessness and kindness, and the list goes on. Ciel is far from being a good Catholic, but she takes sin and atonement extremely seriously due to her own survivor's guilt after all the pain and destruction that she wrought upon everything she loved with her own two hands. She understands that it couldn't be helped and Roa is the cause, but while this is something that she will never make mention of under normal circumstances, it's still her responsibility to make up for. She's been brought up as a cold and efficient killer by the Church, but because of her experiences, she's full well capable of speaking logic with emotion and act as a voice of reason. She's not a character who would revel in the spotlight either, preferring to take on a supportive role to help those that she holds in good favor. She can nag, warn and threaten, but when all's said and done, she'll be there to help and bail the reckless hero because she simply can't leave the troublesome types alone. Still capable of being pleasant and carry easily casual conversations, she presents herself as a reliable and strong individual that anyone can confide in and lean on for support. She can get very serious when she has to, but generally, while she may deny it, she still prefers to be the laid-back and smiling senpai that Shiki can always count on.

Abilities/Powers:
Outstanding athleticism: As a member of the Burial Agency, a merciless and universally feared organization that is the equivalent of a SWAT team within the Catholic Church of the Nasuverse, Ciel is extremely fit. Swift, strong, and accurate, she can move on top of buildings, lampposts, and electricity/phone line poles with great precision and speed. As a wielder of the Black Keys, she has very good aim with projectiles. She’s also physically trained in martial arts, skills that she has acquired through vigorous practice. It’s been commented that while she hasn’t trained herself to the Master level, she is essentially capable of walking into a completely hostile environment, wander around for 4 days without rest, and undergo 46 hours of combat relying purely on her physical abilities.

Skilled magus: It is the original reason why Roa chose her as his next vessel: because the magical aptitudes that Ciel’s body possessed were outstanding. Think of it in terms of MP unit: Ciel has roughly 100 times the reserves of an average magus. Fuyuki wiki notes Ciel's capacity to be 2500 at the low end or 4000 at the high end, depending on her own personal condition. That's higher than some Servants from Fate/Stay Night, even, so Ciel's aptitude is truly monstrous. More shown in the manga than the VN, she can match Roa with offensive bolts of lighting, put up magical barriers to seal and protect, fire powerful spells that can even harm Arcueid (in a weakened state, but still), and perform healing, although the latter likely falls under sacrament rather than thaumaturgy. She likely also knows reinforcement, in order to strengthen her weapons and her own physique (strength, stamina, speed). From the canon fighter Melty Blood Actress Again Current Code, when going serious and all out in her battle dress, Ciel makes rampant use of her sorcery. In one of her victory quotes, she likens the average magus' capacity to that of a car/motorbike, and her own, to a jetplane. The trigger phrase to her lightning spell is ‘code’; she announces the number in French and the corresponding amount of hits will be fire. E.g.: Code Dix-Sept unleashes 17 horizontal bolts straight forward. The bolts’ directions can go straight or downward like a row of curtains. Her Last Arc (fighter finisher) is named Heaven's Nest. It throws foe upwards with the bayonet of her Scripture, draws a cross while wrapped in an orb of light, and then massively electrocutes in midair to inflict 99 Hits. Setting those aside, due to her ability to tap into Roa's knowledge, she's also versed in Numerology (i.e.: Blue Storm, Lightning Fury – it’s a school of thaumaturgy), High Speed Incantation, and Simplified Repetitive Incantation. She can literally perform more high-level spells than she actually knows, and would be able to easily surpass Lord-tier magi at the Association if only she tried (which she never will).

Black Keys User: As mentioned above, these are her default weapons of choice, though Ciel is proficient with practically any type of weaponry and possesses a personal preference for firearms. They are actually just sword hilts created from the pages of a Bible, but Ciel can materialize the blades and throw them at her leisure whenever she desires. Because of how they are made, she can carry a huge amount on her at all times. She can also engrave spells on them so that they gain additional properties: the entire list is here. Canonically, she is shown to have been capable of pinning a human in place and making them unable to move, by burying a Black Key in the ground and through their shadow. She also stated with confidence that once planted, she is the only one who can remove it.

Regeneration: It's her born ability which allowed her to revive from having her heart removed in the first place, as Roa 17th. Because of her insane potential, as long as the brain, which controls the circuits and the body, is not destroyed, Ciel will slowly be able to regenerate from any wound received. It's a much longer and limited process contrasted to that of her Roa-bound immortality (i.e.: it took her three years to regrow her heart and come back to life), but one nevertheless with use, given her line of career. That body has an abnormal reviving ability.

Suggestion: Also known as "Mystic Eyes of Whisper", they are also possible because of her circuits: Ciel has the ability to captivate ordinary humans with weak magical resistance and make them believe whatever she says. What she really does is subtly encourage people to abide by her idea, and not ask questions in return. For example, canonly she was capable of convincing both Shiki and Akihiko that she has been studying at their school for as long as they remember: she could do that because they had no reason to doubt her to begin with, and she acted perfectly the part as well to match up. Her ability will not be able to fully coerce another to believe something that they have valid reasons to have doubts over, or manipulative another to do something that their true selves would never want. The former happened to Shiki, who became aware that Ciel was manipulating his psyche to in Ciel’s Route True End. He caught on when realized the inconsistencies of Ciel talking about taking over her father’s business when he already knew that it was impossible, because he knew her history by that point and how her father has been killed a long time ago.

Necromancy: Manipulation of dead corpses. She admits this, when characters from Kagetsu Tohya, Tsukihime’s fan-disk, 4th walls the original game. Humorous but also terribly true, she confesses that in Arc route, on the 10th day when Arcueid and Shiki were suddenly ambushed by 4~5 Deads, she was the one manipulating them after preserving them and restoring their bodies. ...Something in her asset, let's leave it at that.

Sample Entry Two:
A terrible miscalculation. There was no two ways about it. On a physical level, and an emotional one as well. Having spent the last two years of her life inside that artificial town, Ciel became very familiar with the structure of Mayfield. The feeling she's been getting since arrival all keep tell her the same thing, however: that wherever this is, it's no longer there. The dry and desolate land, the different smell, the flow of thinning mana everywhere... It's hard to confirm, but this place is different.

That's fine, however. She's an adaptive fighter. She'll systematically hunt down information and decide on the best course of action from there. That's what any Executor is trained to do, as a soldier fighting under the name of the Holy Church. She doesn't expect to meet anyone else who might be familiar with how the Church is back home, though. Two years in Mayfield taught her enough about inter-dimensional shifts like these, in a way (the 'virtual copy' theory was still floating around, but you can scrap the 'virtual' part when everything else feels real). Vampire-hunting is going to get put in the back burner again, at least as long as it's not justifiably warranted. Others are trapped here too, and until further notice, the top priority would be to break the system and get everyone out. Many others are here against their wills, she's determined that much at least so far.

Mm. What worries her is those memories that she still held. She allowed herself to soften so much during her last few months in that town, because she was convinced that once Mayfield ended, she'll be returned home with no memory of anything that's happened. That, or her Mayfield copy will cease to exist, which was okay too. Her friends back then needed her emotional support, but to continue down the road she knew she must walk, she couldn't afford to hold onto such frail sentiments. Especially in such a desolate land, it was more obvious now than ever that playtime is over. She can't slack off any longer.

...

But are the two mutually exclusive, really? She knew far well how important emotional support is. She can fight, but she'd rather heal. If any nasty disturbances were to occur here, as they had the habit to back in Mayfield, then there shall always be people who can use a shoulder to lean on, and a smile to brighten their day with. She can't pretend to be a student or a mother anymore, but she can still be of use and assist others. When put outside of her role as a Burial Agent, that's... What she can do. What's right to do. What's simple to do, even. She didn't have to act as something she didn't particularly care for. And besides... Memories are to be honored, aren't they? To try to throw away the influences that others have had on her would be disrespectful. She already knew she needed to sober up, but maybe... Locking the last two years away isn't necessary, either. She'll definitely have to supervise more carefully her own behavior, but that's nothing she hasn't done before.

Look ahead and do what you can, hmm. Just like before. Seriously... This is going to be quite a toll, but she's alive. So what else is there to do, as long as your legs can still carry you forward?

Personality: Alice Elliot is a very gentle and demure young woman, much like what you'd expect from a catholic girl of the early 1900s, though with the added perk of holy powers. She is strong, in both heart and mind, and though, like everyone, she has her doubts, she always ends up better and stronger than before.

Though caring, and almost innocent, she is not naive, and she isn't quick to trust. Even Yuri, the man who had saved her, was privy to her timid distrust. She doesn't assume, however, that everyone is out to use her; she's simply careful. It's better safe than sorry, after all, especially after the death of her father. Despite her cautiousness, she'll drop it all if it means helping someone in need, sometimes not even thinking of the dangers that may lie ahead her.

While Alice isn't particularly social, she greatly enjoys the company of others, though has no qualms with spending some time to herself. She's quiet, and enjoys quiet. She is thoughtful, and intelligent, although there are times she'll act without thinking. She tends to be very polite, even to a point that her enemies tend to make mention of it.

Alice: Thanks, ma’am. It’s kind of you to let us stay, having just shown up in the middle of the night like this.

Mayor Lady: What a nice-mannered young lady. But you don’t have to worry
about your manners so much here. …For, it won’t change the taste of their
meat.

Despite how quiet she can be, that doesn't mean she'll let herself be walked on. She's known to have her outbursts, especially in high-tense situations. More than once she'll stomp her foot in frustration, usually because Yuri either seems too calm or takes the situation as a joke. She isn't the bravest young woman, but you won't find her running and hiding when things get tough. She's a fighter, even if the only thing she may want to do is run.

Like many others, Alice cares deeply for those around her, even going so far as to sacrifice her very soul for the man she had fallen in love with. Her sacrifice required no deep thought on her part, mostly due to the fact that she knew that Yuri didn't deserve to suffer any more than he already had; she wanted to relieve him of his pain in any way she could, and so she took on his curse.

Her adventure with Yuri ended with her death, but Alice wouldn't change a thing about it, because despite all the hardship and the pain, she got to spend it all with the very person she loved. The only thing she would ever regret was leaving him. Their journey gave her strength and courage, and provided answers to her powers; it's something she'll always cherish.

Abilities/Powers: Not only is Alice a very powerful white mage, she is also known as The Key of Light, a powerful source of energy that can be used in a great many rituals, and the very embodiment of positive magic. Her powers are wide, and varied, and only touched upon in the game. The character Zhuzhun Li calls her "demon-eyes" due to the fact that she can see and feel what others cannot, and is capable of sensing evil, though it's unknown if it's due to her status as The Key of Light, or simply another one of her traits.

Alice has several spells, and while most of them are defensive or healing spells, she also happens to have the second most powerful offensive spell in the entire game: Advent. Advent deals heavy light-class damage to any enemy in the field, and is especially powerful against enemies that happen to be Dark.

Her other spells include:

CURE (cures a small amount of HP to one ally)
HOLY EDGE (adds the element of light to any ally weapon)
BLESSED LIGHT (deals weak light damage to an enemy)
WISH (cures all negative status effects)
GOSPEL (raises all allies defenses by 30%)
ARC (cures all allies HP)
RESURRECTION (brings back one ally from KO with full health)

Aside from magic, Alice can deal some physical damage by attacking enemies with a book. To make it a little stranger, most of the books she uses are odd, holy items, and her strongest weapon happens to be the HOLY BOOK OF FLESH, a tome made of the flesh of a martyr.

As for weaknesses, Alice has her share of them. She isn't the most physical of people, and is about average in terms of strength. Her endurance is well tested through out the game, especially after she acquires the Four-Mask Curse, which is extremely draining for her. She's able to stay alive until the very end, though she does collapse once or twice. With her death, the curse is gone, but it's proof that she can suffer and push through quite a bit of physical and mental problems.

Just like her powers work well against something that is classed 'Dark', she is weak against Dark. Any magic that is dark will do considerable damage to her. She can also be overwhelmed by negative energies. For instance, if a place is filled with much death and suffering, Alice will be able to feel it; for her, it's a heavy mental feeling, and the worse an area, the heavier it is.

Sample Entry:  Here!

Sample Entry Two: The train gave a whistle as Alice sat down next to him. He smiled at her, and her heart stuttered; she smiled back, and he laughed. The last year had been tough on the both of them, their journey taking them from China to Europe to above the very Earth they stood together to protect; it was journey neither would ever forget.

They didn't say a word to one another as the train began to depart, instead their eyes were glued to the window as the world around them began to rush on past. Alice met Yuri on a train, but back then there was nothing between them--she was just the damsel in distress, and he just the rude hero that rushed in to save her--it almost broke her heart to know that their time together could end any minute.

I did it to save him. It took everything in her to keep the curse at bay, to keep breathing, but as time passed, it got harder and harder. Alice could feel herself dying, but she had kept on for him. She gave a quiet sigh, leaning against him. Her turned his head slightly, and she looked up. He smiled, and she returned it.

If only this moment could last forever. But it was starting to get hard to keep her eyes open. Neither of them had gotten much sleep since the Meta-God's destruction, too busy celebrating, too busy saying good-bye to their companions, and the trains rhythm was akin to a lullaby after all that, but Alice didn't want to sleep, not when she knew it may last forever.

I'll close them for just a moment.

Alice's eyes slid shut, her breathing slowed, and that moment lasted forever.

Would it be possible for Alice to arrive with her Holy Book of Flesh if all writing inside just vanished upon arrival?
