Applications

APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN!
The next processing date is Friday 11th October

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every two weeks, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. If you wish to request a specific apartment, please do so in the relevant part of the application. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Every attempt will be made to place a character in their chosen apartments, though this may not always be possible depending on the slots available.

Applications are open constantly, but are only processed every other Friday at 7PM EST. The Saturday following acceptance, an IC mingle log will be posted for characters to be introduced to the game.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old.

[personal profile] piranhamoose 2012-11-24 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality:
" I am an angel of the Lord. "

Like most other angels, Castiel has a tendency to express little emotion in any situation. He's not ruled by his emotions like humans are. Angels live to serve their Father, after all, and obey his orders. Emotions would only cloud their judgement and get in the way. Castiel actually shows little remorse for some of the orders that he has to follow, because they are his Father's orders and therefore must be followed. Outwardly, he shows a lack of empathy and seems cold toward the humans. Orders are the only things that matter. Angels have no need for emotion, and he hasn't spent much time around humans to be able to influence his outlook on things. Mostly, he just doesn't know how to feel these things. He doesn't really understand them. He expresses remorse but he's advised against it, because it's said that he doesn't know the feeling anyway.

Despite these similarities and despite outward appearances, Castiel isn't quite like his angel brethren. One of the biggest differences is his faith in an absent Father. Many have lost faith, but Castiel hasn't. He still believes in God's plan, and isn't sure that He's truly abandoned them, as others have said time and time again. He's not a blind follower of his Father though. He has his doubts and he questions, and he doesn't always understand his Father's reasons for his orders, but he has faith in them, no less, and will follow to the best of his abilities.

This faith of his also extends to humans. He trusts in certain ones and puts his faith in them to make the right decisions. He has a great interest in humans and this ( along with his unfaltering faith in God ) makes him an oddity among the angels. He is also considered to be naive, because of his putting faith in such young creatures who make so many mistakes. But he does, in fact, believe in them and the longer he stays with the Winchesters, the more it solidifies his faith in humans. He's seen what humans are capable of. Plus, humans are his Father's creations, ones that he loves. They have to be worth Castiel's faith and fascination.

" My superiors have begun to question my sympathies. "

The more time Castiel spends with humans, not simply watching them as he had done for two thousand years prior, but actually interacting with them, the more Castiel starts to change. He starts to feel things, truly feel things ( though at least a few of these things, he has no name for ). He starts to question things more and out loud, whereas before his questions and doubts were kept to himself. He starts having strong doubts about whether or not his orders are even still coming from God. He turns on his own brother ( because technically, his brother has already turned on him ) and considers disobedience, even though this is a crime punishable by death.

Castiel becomes remorseful for his actions, for the orders that he has to carry out but through his connection to his human charges, he becomes one of very few free-thinking angels. Or at least as free-thinking as an angel gets. While entirely different from a human's, Castiel starts to gain a sense of free will. He starts to think independently of Heaven. He continues to carry out his orders, yes, but with all of these new things he's feeling ( friendly affection for Dean included, due to the "profound bond" they share ), he starts to twist his orders a little so he's still doing as he's told, but so he's also helping the Winchesters as much as he can. Helping directly is still out of the question most times, but he can point out the obvious loopholes without bringing Heaven's righteous fury down on his head.

In spite of his slight bending on the rules, Castiel seems to value honesty. Perhaps it's that he's an angel and they aren't supposed to lie ( though they do. And often ), but he doesn't take well to lies and deception, growing angry in the face of it, depending on the gravity. He is one of the few angels who prefers the truth to deception. He even tends to stay away from the small, white lies that would be more helpful than hindrance. Of course part of that is just that he doesn't seem to realize when he should tell that small lie.

Above all, Castiel is loyal. He tends to show almost unwavering loyalty to those who prove they deserve it. First God and the angels, and then the humans, namely Dean. His loyalty to the Winchester is such that he does the one thing he'd been so against and the one thing he'd looked down on other angels for. He rebelled. He rebelled to help Dean stop the coming of the apocalypse. He lost his connection to Heaven, losing a good chunk of his powers as a considerable amount where powered by Heaven directly. He couldn't go home, killed other angels ( his own brothers ) all to help Dean. His loyalties to God didn't end, though.

    Until they did.

It took something as big as finding out that God was just going to let the world burn for Castiel to finally turn his back on Him. Once in place, Castiel's loyalty is about as close to indestructible as the angel, himself.

Abilities/Powers:
    angelic possession
Much like with demons, angels need an Earthly host, or a vessel, when appearing on Earth. Their true forms and true voices are overwhelming to humans ( except for a very select few who can, indeed, handle seeing and hearing an angel in their true state ). Unlike demons, though, angels first need permission from their vessel before the angel can possess them.
    astral projection
The ability to extend at least a portion of the body outward, to the astral world. In the case of angels, they often use this ability to project the image of their wings to onlookers, usually to prove what they are, or as an intimidation tactic.
    time travel
The ability to move through time in any direction. Angels are able to travel through time themselves, as well as take others with them. They are also able to send others alone, but they have to be careful with this. The further they send someone, the harder it is to pull them back. Because of this, there's usually a time limit on those angels send alone. Going over this particular limit means losing the ability to bring that person back. All in all, time travel is a very difficult ability to master. More difficult, still, if the angel is not connected to Heaven.
    dream walking
This ability allows the angel to manifest in someone's dream. It's usually used simply as a form of communication when perhaps no other methods will do. This is a passive ability in most angels.
    eidetic memory
In angels, this means they have the faces and names of every prophet that has existed, exists or will exist etched into their memories. Their memories also make them aware of reality shifting and warping around them, and when there are changes in the usual timeline.
    immortality
Angels do not age and they are not susceptible to Earthly diseases. As such, this also goes for the vessel. While being possessed by an angel, the vessel gets the added benefits ( or downfalls ) of immortality.
    invulnerability
Angels have proven themselves to be incredibly hard to kill. There is a very short list of things that can kill them. Angel blades, Holy Fire, stronger angels, God, Death and Leviathans. They aren't completely invulnerable, but very nearly.
    soul reading / soul siphoning
Soul reading is as it sounds, it's the ability to read a person's soul, to assess it's condition. It can be used to find out if there is, in fact, a soul housed in the body and it can be used to find out if anyone has laid a claim on the soul, as there will be a mark that the angel can read.

Soul siphoning is using the soul as a source of energy ( a soul has been likened to a mini nuclear reactor ). Especially useful when the angel is low on power. This is incredibly dangerous, however. If not done with care, the angel risks causing the human to explode.

Both reading and siphoning are incredibly painful to the human involved. Neither leaves any sort of physical damage, though.
    sedation
With a single touch, an angel is able to render a human unconscious.
    supernatural strength
Physically, angels are superior in strength to humans, lower-level demons, mid-level demons and most monsters.
    supernatural perception
Angels are able to perceive all supernatural activity around them, such as Reapers, who are usually only visible to those they are about to reap. They are also able to sense any being, location or object that is not protected by an Enochian Sigil ( a symbol which has the ability to hide anything and anyone from an angel ).
    telekinesis
Angels have the ability to move people and objects with their minds.
    telepathy
Simply, the ability to read minds.
    teleportation
Angel possess the ability to travel from one place to another instantly. It's their primary means of transportation. They can also summon other beings, send them or take travelers with them.

( I'm having him cut off from this in Haven, though )
    voice mimicry
This ability is said to be incredibly rare. The ability allows the user to perfectly mimic the voice of anyone.
    protective charm
Angels are able to protect individuals from most forms of physical harm. This protection is linked directly to the power of the angel. The more powerful the angel, the greater the amount of protection offered.
    proficient with blades
Time and time again, Castiel has shown himself to be skilled with a blade. While not physically as strong as a lot of his angelic brethren, he has shown himself to be more than capable with a blade, often being able to turn the tide of battle in his favor, even when outnumbered.

Items: An angel blade, a silver, double-edged dagger capable of killing angels.

Sample Entry:

Sample Entry Two:
This wasn't the world he'd come to appreciate through his association with two human brothers and the grisly, old drunk who worked with them, was family to them. This wasn't the world he'd, perhaps, come to love enough to work at saving it, not only because of those brothers, but also because of the rest of the humans that inhabited it, because they were the creations that his Father loved so much. Just because his Father had abandoned them, didn't mean that he was about to as well. His Father would eventually see the error of His ways and be thankful for His son's hand in helping to save the Earth and its inhabitants.

This, however, was a place he didn't recognize, a world he didn't know. Even for someone who had been to more than enough places in both Heaven and on Earth, even for someone who'd been banished again and again by both man and angel to places so remote that he wasn't sure a human had ever stepped foot there, ending up here was a little jarring.

Castiel wasn't sure, exactly, how he'd gotten here. It was unnerving. Being banished had a certain feel to it and traveling of his own accord, an entirely different feel. This had one, then the other, but then nothing at all. It was as though he'd been plucked from his own existence by hands unseen and dropped into this one. It had an entirely different feel to it. No, this wasn't the world he'd grown accustomed to. This was something else entirely.

Standing in the middle of what appeared to be an abandoned street, Castiel thought of the place where he'd been with the Winchesters last, the place where he wanted to be. Bobby Singer's. That's where he'd left them. It was a mere split second before he realized that something was terribly wrong. His brows furrowed and he tipped his head to one side curiously as he looked first up the street, and then down. He was right where he had just been. To a normal man, to any onlooker, nothing would seem out of the ordinary, but to Castiel it meant that something wasn't right about this place. It simply stirred up more of those unnerved feelings. It wasn't that he couldn't leave ( on foot still seemed like a viable option, after all ), but it was that something was blocking him. There was something that was blocking his power. And not even all of it. He wasn't drained completely of his 'angel mojo', as Dean would so eloquently put it. The rest was still there, still very much intact and still very much within his grasp.

Could a rebellious angel be so lucky as to only lose touch with one of his remaining powers, after being cut off from Heaven? Whatever the case may be, he had no time to look into it. There was work that needed to be done, which meant getting back to the Winchesters and making sure that he didn't turn his back on his own family for nothing.

I saw about the rule change and just added in the items section myself, if that's all cool

Character Name: BLU Scout, real name Nathaniel McCann
Canon: Team Fortress 2
Canon Point: TF2 doesn't really have a canon timeline? I guess from before any updates before February 2010 as that was when I picked him up.
Background/History: TF2 wiki

Previous Game History: It's hard to sum up everything that happened to Scout succinctly. In nearly three years in Mayfield, a LOT has happened to him. He never was one much for investigating. He didn't care why Mayfield did what it did. What mattered to him was that he wanted it to stop. Kidnapped and dragged into a 1950s American suburban cliche was bad enough, without having all the tortuous things added to it. Nuclear war, nightmarish landscapes, Soviet death camps, zombie attacks, people being forced to murder each other, brainwashing... on top of prank wars, having a job as a cop, or having to become a "dad" and other almost downright goofy things. Mayfield wasn't boring, at least.

But, Mayfield came to a crashing end, the simulation crashing down around everyone as its creator finally went over the edge and took everyone with him. Instead of waking up back home, back on the battlefield, or anywhere he wanted to be, Scout's waking up in Haven. Out of one nightmare and into another.

Over the course of his time in Mayfield, Scout learned a lot. And, most shockingly of all, he's matured a lot. Oh, he's still the same old Scout - fast-talking, short tempered, over confident, loves baseball and a good fight. But Mayfield helped him prioritize and realize there are things out there bigger than himself (hard enough as that is for him to believe!). The way Mayfield treated everyone - him, his teammates, his friends - angered him like nothing else. When things got bad, Scout was the first person to run head first at it. No matter if that actually helped or not, but at least he'd be the one to take any damage from it before someone innocent did. He'd jump in the way of danger for almost anyone, women especially. Previously, Scout never liked kids and didn't give them the time of day. But the ones in Mayfield proved to him that they were strong and amazing kids, and he was always impressed by the way they made it through. He went from ignoring them to actively helping kids learn to fight and defend themselves. He became particularly close to Enma Ai, his town-assigned "daughter", who he looks more as a little sister now, as well as several other kids who he became protective of.

He'll be well-prepared for an environment like Haven. His training and work as a mercenary on top of years of Mayfield bullshit will prepare someone for just about anything, though!

Personality: Scout's not the easiest guy to get along with. He can arrogant, self-centered, mouthy, hot-headed, acts before he thinks and tends to start fights just for the hell of it. Unless you're talking to him about something he cares about, he will probably stop listening to you. Unless you're a woman, and then you'll probably have his rapt attention - not that you really want that. Scout's attention span is short, and the fact that he's a total caffeine addict makes it worse.

Being the youngest of a pile of big bad boys, Scout always had to do a lot to get any attention. He's not the smartest, or the strongest, or the best looking. But he's certainly the loudest and the fastest. His mouth has certainly gotten him in a lot of trouble during his life. He was always getting in fights in his neighborhood, at school and with his own brothers. Thanks to this, he can tumble with the best of them, but usually isn't too comfortable in a fight without at least a baseball bat. Even if he loses, he'll spin the tale to make sure it looks like he came out on top.

Patience is not a virtue Scout possesses, and tends to lose his cool a lot, especially when anyone acts superior or condescending to him. Scout loves attention and will take any chance to talk about himself, or make himself look good, especially to girls. Scout's confidence is almost infinite. Almost nothing will discourage him from doing what he wants to do, and no one can ever tell him no. Once he sets his mind to something, god help anyone who tries to dare and stop him! All the boasting and overconfidence isn’t a cover for any weakness, or secret shame. Scout truly believes in his 100% sheer awesomeness and won't have it any other way. His overconfidence has lead to him having a very optimistic outlook on life. He's certain he can overcome anything.

Intellectual pursuits are beyond Scout, and he has no interest in them. The only things that really interest him are his job, baseball, caffeine, fighting and girls. If Scout's got a problem with you, expect to hear about it. A lot. He won't hesitate to tell you what he thinks of you, or anything else. It's not that he won't ever give a friend praise, but he'll be damned if he'll make anyone look better than himself.

The kind of people Scout makes friends with varies, but generally anyone who doesn't act like an intellectual snob or anyone who doesn’t outright hate baseball is a good start. Friendship with him is a tricky thing, as he is fiercely loyal to those he likes. More often than not he ends up getting his friends in trouble, pulling them along with him in fights or crazy stunts, or beating up on anyone who might look at them the wrong way.

The best way to stay on his good side is not not talk about his mom. Ever. Mama's boy? What are you talking about?

Abilities/Powers: Scout's talents lie in his speed and agility. While not superhuman or a "power", the kid is damned fast.

Sample Entry: Have some classic Scout action.

Sample Entry Two: (This is part of an old Mayfield post, converted a bit. If you need me to write something new instead, I don't mind.)

Scout had enough of this little "event". His friends were killing each other, hallucinating terrible things. Helpless people calling over the phones pleading with each other for their lives. Victims literally laid dead all over town, out in the open.

While out on patrol, Scout came by the lake to find the body a close ally carelessly tossed in, sporting a large stab wound to her chest. It was a difficult task, but he managed to pull Olivier out and carry her to the church. Anyone inside would hear him knocking loudly at the door; he was looking for Ciel or anyone who could help take care of her.

On his way back, he stopped at the police station. Scout was a cop, technically, and he wanted to talk to Chief Grady. Where was that miserable fuck when things like this were happening? When Scout can't find him, he's leaves, but not before cracking his badge in half and dropping it outside the station.

Eventually he made it back home, and anyone still inside 1451 Mitchell would find him still damp, sitting in the kitchen, looking empty and angry. This was Scout trying to control his temper so he doesn't just start breaking things instead. Eventually he got himself under control, he picked up the phone. It was time to take charge of this situation.

So just a blank book basically, since a Bible is pretty mundane if you take away the writing and the cover, including a typical cross design? That's fine by me!

Dr. Bruce Banner | Marvel Cinematic Universe | Reserved (2/4)

[personal profile] themainpersonality 2012-11-25 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: Even before the gamma radiation forced Bruce Banner to accept the reality of living in a body that he was forced to share with the Hulk, he'd been an odd sort of guy. He'd been able to maintain many of the more ordinary relationships with the people that he worked with-- friends and coworkers and his girlfriend Betty. He worked for the US Army in a lab where he was working on re-creating the Super Soldier Serum-- but Bruce had already long since developed the personality that would carry him through much of his life.

There is a sense of self loathing that stems from his childhood, from a hatred that his father had for him (in thinking that Bruce had been born a mutant because of his father's own experimentation with radiation and what had been perceived as a mutation of his DNA), alcoholism leading the elder Banner to take his own fear of having a mutated son (and to him the child progeny bit only fed into that belief)out on a young Bruce, beating the idea that he was somehow wrong into him. This thought is only increased when Bruce's mother tries to protect him from his father, before she is murdered by him in front of Bruce. His father is carted away to a mental institution and Bruce is sent to live with his aunt and expected to grow and develop as regularly as possible.

This sense of self-loathing is only increased with the Incident that sticks him with Hulk (proof that his DNA had, in fact, been altered. It's the reason that he survives the Incident) and without the ability to control his body as Hulk kills and injures people in an effort to escape from the government. It takes Bruce many years to stabilize the transformation between himself and Hulk, and having to be separated from the friends that he'd made (and also from Betty, who he had fallen in love with), and because of that it's easy for him to accept any kind of disdain or fear that other people who are aware of his 'condition' show towards him. He shows this in the Avengers when Natasha Romanov comes to collect her, and he lashes out at her to see how she will react, and seems mostly unaffected when she pulls a gun on him and is clearly beyond afraid. In fact, he barely seems surprised to find out that they were surrounded by soldiers the whole time-- he seems to expect behaviour like that when people are dealing with someone like him. It's similar to his behaviour on the helicarrier where Steve Rogers, Thor, and Fury tell him at different points and different words something to the effect that he needs to keep his calm or implying that he's still a danger. Loki does this, too, but his intention is to goad Bruce so that he can use Hulk-- it works, but the comments themselves seem not to make a huge difference. Bruce has had a lot of time to learn how to internalize his emotions.

Perhaps the biggest show of this, though, of his self-loathing is that he's attempted (at least once) to kill himself. He doesn't seem too shy to share that fact with the other Avengers when he's explaining to them that he cannot even shoot himself, if he wanted to. Since he had tried it before and had failed.

Even the knowledge that he has that SHEILD had built a cage for him has little effect on him until Loki's scepter begins to effect the tension in the room.

The one time that it is absolutely visible on his face, the one time that the audience is able to see just how anguished Bruce is about himself and the relationship with Hulk is when the helicarrier is attacked and Natasha is trapped with him as he is changing. The change is obviously painful and when he looks at her during the change, his expression is completely destroyed-- he knows that he's going to do something that will be horrible, and there's nothing that he can do at that point to change it, and he hates it.

Beyond that, Bruce is a brilliant scientist. He's got his Ph. D in Nuclear Physics, and has studied in some of the most prestigious schools in the United States. Science had been his life for a long time, and he'd preferred the company of his lab equipment over people for a long time. Which is why, for a period of time (specifically referring to his living in Brazil in Incredible Hulk, where he had been virtually a nobody with only his dog for a companion as he tried to find a cure for his 'Condition'), it was easy for him to revert back to that state. He's learned while he was on the run, and by the time that he's hopping from country to country, he's able to speak at least four other languages. He's extremely good at adapting to whatever situation that he's in, which makes him resourceful and very successful at it. In a crowded room or a busy street, he's nearly perfected the art of making himself unnoticeable and very difficult to find, even for extremely resourceful organizations like the US Army.

Unfortunately, the fact that Bruce has been fairly consistently hunted by the Army (and they've said more than once that they believe his entire body is property of the US Army) has left him significantly paranoid, sure that at any turn he's going to be handcuffed or attacked (and that would just trigger Hulk, and that's the very last thing that Bruce wants). Even in a space that is supposed to be safe (like the SHEILD helicarrier), Bruce averts his eyes from anyone holding a gun and in uniform. He's never really sure when he's going to be apprehended and experimented on (he's sure that they are searching for a way to separate him from Hulk so they can replicate the exact Incident for a weapon), just that he will be.

Prior and during the Incredible Hulk, Bruce's main objective is to separate himself from the Hulk. This is something that he becomes extremely obsessed with. It is easy enough for him to figure out exactly what it is that triggers the change (any kind of raised heart rate from fear, anger, excitement, or even just strenuous exercise), and so he manages to find ways to prevent that from happening (yoga, meditation, a heart rate monitor), but that's still not good enough for him. He's willing to go to any length to find a cure for Hulk. He even sends some of his (highly toxic) blood back to the US to have someone he met there find a cure. He risks everything trying to see Mr. Blue, returning to the US despite the army presence, and even searching for him after he'd already been attacked once.

It is a show of his determination that he never gives up on the chance of a cure until all avenues have been cut off. When he actually is cut off from Hulk, Bruce realizes that he's not able to balance the scales-- Abomination exists because of his blood and the army's obsession with getting him back to them. He's ready to risk his own life to protect the people that he loves and also the people that he thinks he owes it to, and jumps from the helicopter that he had been stuck in with Betty and her father, General Ross. He actually doesn't manage to turn into Hulk until after he's crashed into the ground, and in the fight with Abomination, Harlem is destroyed and a lot of people are killed.

This is what begins Bruce's real desire to balance the scales. Part of that means leaving Betty behind, and being sure that she won't try to find him-- that she'll move on with her life. It also means that he's forced to be on the run from the US Army again, and he flees to British Columbia, where it's easy enough for him to find a very secluded area where he is safe and alone. Balancing the scales means, to Bruce, that he has to be alone. He doesn't have anyone and the world has basically kicked him around, and he has to be all right with that.

Between the Incredible Hulk and the Avengers, Bruce goes through a huge shift in his personality. He stops with the obsession to cure himself, and instead works on meditation and yoga (both of which he becomes very good at), and builds up a way to control his transformation. Once he's in control of Hulk, Bruce is able to take in more of his surroundings, and can see in other people (especially in the poorer parts of the world) the suffering that he could cure, and he begins to practice medicine for this reason (despite never having studied it beyond the basics in school). It all feeds into his need to be self-sacrificing in any way that he can be. Bruce is kind and he cares for people, and in this is how he's chosen to pay back whatever debt he owes the world. It becomes less about running and more about giving back (though, of course, he has been running).

One of the things that might set Bruce apart from other people in any situation that is similar to his own is that he hasn't managed to lose his sense of humour. He's fully capable of understanding what he's gotten himself into, and finding at least a little humour (however wry) in it. An example of this is when Tony prods at him, looking to stimulate some response, and Bruce actually smiles at it and shakes his head a little. It's also apparent in the Incredible Hulk, when Bruce is posing as a pizza guy, offering the night guard at the university some of the pizza in order to get upstairs to deliver it to some of the scientist up there, and he's not beyond joking about it with him. He also jokes around with Betty a fair amount when they're on the run from her father, especially when it comes to her trying to buy him stretchy purple pants. Another good example would include any of the conversations he has with his dog in Incredible Hulk, as well as his attempts to learn Portuguese by watching Sesame Street with a dictionary in hand (to some success).

Probably one of the most important things about Bruce, is that he is extraordinarily kind. Even after the Incident and the effect that Hulk has over his life, he still goes out of his way to do anything that he can to help whoever he can. Examples of this would be in the Incredible Hulk, even though he's determined to keep as low a profile as possible (even going so far as to stay off the payroll at the factory, despite being paid far less than he ought to be), when he catches a female co-worker being harassed by a few of his male co-workers, he takes her away from them, despite being threatened by them (and this does end up being to his detriment in the future, when Ross and his Army fellows show up in Brazil for him). His kindness is something that shows through every time that he is forced to leave Betty (the only person to have seen Hulk and still love him), even though he eventually is forced to leave her without looking back, giving her the chance to live some kind of life without being trapped in it with him.

In the Incredible Hulk, Bruce is forced to make the decision to fight against the smallest bit of a cure that he'd managed to find, and release Hulk again in order to fight Abomination, who is much too strong for anyone else to fight. He feels like he owes it to the people of New York, because it is his blood that helped to create Abomination, but he also just feels like if he has the ability to help people, then that's what he should be doing. When he manages to get out of NY, he gets out of the country again, this time to British Columbia.

When Bruce finally moves away from North America again, his kindness manifests itself into almost a life of its own as he takes on a physician's duty in third world countries, specifically in order to help people who are so sick and contagious that they cannot be helped by any other doctor, including those that would otherwise be willing to help them. He uses the fact that he is impervious to human illness as a tool to help people less fortunate than he is.

The last, though not least important, facet of Bruce's personality comes with his understanding of the 'Other Guy'. Once he is able to control the way that Hulk changes (and as long as it's not directly caused by fear or extreme shock) and to fight alongside the other Avengers, Bruce seems more settled into it. He doesn't run away the way that he could have after he fell from the sky-- he makes the decision to stay and fight for New York, to give himself over just enough to Hulk so that the transformation is seamless and Hulk is in a state where he can understand who he is supposed to be fight (though it helps that most of the people have already been evacuated). Hulk even catches a falling Tony Stark from the sky, leaving room to wonder if it's Bruce's own emotions that rule the Hulk when he is out. Tony was the only person on the helicarrier who seemed to trust Bruce (going so far as to provoke possible Hulk reactions, much to everyone elses dismay), he seems to be the only person since Betty to seem unafraid of him. It's the first time (though not the last, since the rest of the Avengers seem to come to terms with Hulk by the end of the battle, at least to some extent) that Bruce is accepted in that way by any number of people, and his life is clearly changed for it.

Abilities/Powers:The main ability that Bruce has is that he turns into the Hulk (or the 'Other Guy') under two fairly specific requirements. 1) that his heart rate is elevated considerably (through fear, anger, stress, excitement, etc) and the transformation is involuntary, leaving him without control over Hulk. This process can also occur when Bruce is in danger from himself or anyone else-- something of a self-preservation idea, leading to the idea that it's possible that the transformations are at least partly psychosomatic. 2) that Bruce gives himself over to Hulk and transforms into him voluntarily, managing to hold on to some of the control of Hulk (enough that he is able to work alongside the Avengers with little excess violence, and also able to make decisions and to recognize people enough not to attack them). The Hulk's abilities range somewhere with being extremely strong and nearly indestructible. He relies a lot on self-sustinance and needs very little to live, he even ran (while in control of their body) from Brazil to Ecuador in a very short period of time. He has super human speed and is immune to all diseases and viruses, as well as being capable of healing incredibly fast. Hulk has superhuman stamina and durability. He is also huge and green and he likes to smash things.

Aside from Hulk, Bruce is a little faster and a little more spry than the average person. He's also a few degrees warmer, because of the gamma radiation, though that would hardly be considered a power. He's also been trained in part by the US Army and is at least proficient in hand-to-hand combat. He's also fairly good at building things from nothing. In the Incredible Hulk movie, he builds a lab out of garbage scraps that he found on the streets of Brazil and he's also able to fix the electric control of the bottling company that he worked for. Bruce's blood is also highly toxic and can cause death and/or mutation of anyone that comes in direct contact to it (the reason that he is so afraid of giving his blood to Mr. Blue in TIC, and why he has such an adverse reaction to learning that his blood had been replicated by the same guy). Of course Bruce is also a certifiable genius. He's got his Ph. D in Nuclear Physics and has hands on training in physicians work.

Sample Entry:[the video feed turns on to show a man in his early fourties staring into the camera. He looks composed and calm, but he's a little sweaty and his hair is out of place. There's a little dirt on his shirt like he's been pacing around and looking for a way away from where he is. Or at least a way to figure out where he is]

So... is this the new cage you've built for me here? It's fascinating, actually. [he's wringing his hands just a little-- an anxious habit, as is the small laugh that he lets out]Smart to keep me away from anyone that could get hurt.

If you needed me here, though [and this time there isn't any kind of smile, Bruce just looks exhausted] then why did you let me leave in the first place? This, uh... place hardly seems like an ideal spot for experimentation, so what am I here for? Does the world really need saving already, or are you just going to try to kill me again?

Sample Entry Two: Waking up was easy. That was what Bruce found the most alarming, actually. Waking up had never been easy for him. He'd always had to have one hand on the Other Guy, making sure that nothing unexpected happened there, and the other part of himself had to be constantly aware of his surroundings, making sure that nobody had found him in whatever remote area of the world he'd found himself in. He'd always had to be ready, just in case, to run if it came to that, a small bag packed and always ready for that instance. He reached for it, then, confused and disoriented, but it wasn't there.

Sitting up was harder than it would have been in most cases, his body still ached and stretched and joints still protesting every moment-- proof that what Bruce remembered from New York (and not Harlem this time, not a nightmare-- he's still supposed to be there, though, isn't he?) was real. The Other Guy always left those little reminders that he'd been around.

Glancing around and down at himself, Bruce was able to come to the inevitable conclusion that he was certainly not where he was supposed to be. He was wearing what he'd remembered he should have been wearing, but Stark was nowhere around and the last thing he could actually remember was getting into Tony's car. It meant that if he was in the custody of the US Army again, they'd obviously found some kind of tranquilizer that was more effective and knocking out both him and the Other Guy. It felt different than Ross, though. There were no cuffs holding him down, no needles or tubes or experiments or Betty there to keep him at bay-- none that he could remember even a fraction of or find any hint of on his body, and he was pretty sure that there was no tranquilizer in existence that could have held back the Other Guy for something like that. Not when Bruce could already feel him stirring in agitation in the corner of his mind. It made him itch.

If this was the US Army, it would have meant that Bruce had been lured there for who knows what by the SHIELD initiative. The same people that he'd just fought with-- that the Other Guy had fought with-- who had been in just as much danger as he had been. More, probably, because of the Other Guy. There were always repercussions to being around Him. Bruce actually had to wonder if any of them had been taken with him-- the US Army had never really been above doing whatever it took to get him, and that made a wave of guilt wash over him. If they could tranq the Other Guy, then who knew what they could do to the rest of them.

So not SHIELD, then. He'd been tricked by someone, promised that he wouldn't be sought after (though whose promise was that to keep, really?) if he came back to New York, and the only people that could have known would have been the army. Anger that was white hot and almost overwhelming rushed over him at the thought that he'd been so close, could have just left well enough alone and lived out his life as someone good, but here he was back at the beginning, waiting for Ross or whoever was in charge of this now to come up and try to separate him from the Other Guy or do whatever it was they had in mind to try to take some kind of weapon from him.

The incessant beeping from the heart rate monitor around his wrist brought him back to attention, and he lifted his hands to rub at his face as he drew in a deep breath and let it out in a rhythm of breaths the way that he had learned. It was important for him to calm down, to keep the Other Guy at bay long enough to figure out what was going on. There could be innocent civilians around here somewhere, and who even knew where he was. He had to gather all of the facts and then make as informed a decision as he could with the Other Guy, hopefully keep him in long enough. Bruce could only hope that they would give him the chance to do so, and as the beeping slowed and then left him in silence again, he knew that he had to maintain the control he'd learned, that he'd sacrificed just about everything to keep.

He had to survive here. At least as long as it took to make sure that they couldn't take the Other Guy for themselves.

“I don't understand anything about humans, and humans don't understand us.”

— episode 49

Diva seems like a fundamentally simple and stereotypical villain. It's really not until the last episode she appears in (or the manga) that her complexity is revealed. While her actions are in no way excusable, with the context of her life, they're not at all surprising, and the writers of Blood+ somehow managed to make the villain of the show much more sympathetic than the protagonist. Well, in my opinion, obviously.

Diva is selfish, childish, and also quite air headed. This is a bit surprising for a person that's going on two centuries old, but quite reasonable when you remember that she was only awake for about sixty of those years, fifty of which were spent in torture and isolation. Unsurprisingly, Diva is not smart by any stretch of the imagination, and what education she does have is dated, since the majority of her education came from early 20th century Russia. While Saya was able to have 50 years of normal life, Diva spent this time locked up, alone in a tower. She spent this time living in filth, poverty, and pain while her sister lived quite comfortably. Her childish nature comes from this lack of mental development, and being forced to ‘grow up’ quite quickly as Diva left the tower. Her selfishness also stems from Amshel, for the most part. After being let out of the tower and being whisked away by her new Chevalier, Diva’s every whim was waited on by him. This continued for the years following right up until her death. Diva is used to getting exactly what she wants and when she wants it. This could mean anything from a cute dress to an actual person.

But to contrast against her sister, after they split ways from the Zoo, both of their lifestyles dramatically changed. Saya was a vagrant with Haji, traveling and looking for Diva so that she could kill her. Diva traveled with Amshel and snowballed massive political power. Powerful people became her Chevalier, consulted Amshel, consulted her, or anything in between. Diva was living the life of the dying class of nobility, but remained in political power through Amshel until her death. So her times spent awake were amongst the highest classes of society, and it reflects in her. She's a very cultured woman in public, especially since she performs opera. Diva has never known anything but the highest luxuries in the world, and is quite happy with that. She's very demure and charming to the public eye, reflecting her position as a cultured heiress.

And as you would expect from an heiress of any kind, Diva is vain. She knows she’s beautiful and alluring, which reflects itself in a very high amount of confidence. Once she has her mind set on something, she's absolutely determined to acheive it, and has no doubts that she can. She may do it in an underhanded way, but that doesn't matter to her. She's extremely selfish and cares little for the well-being of others. Though this view has diminished somewhat after having her babies to care for and dying, this is still a prominent part of her psyche.

Diva also has an extreme desire for closeness and relationships. This desire stems from her isolation in the tower, and she never grew out of the desire for someone to care for her, even if it's entirely artificial. She's a very physical person, and in a conversation with someone she sort-of-remotely-likes, her body language will convey affection even if that isn't her true emotion. She's a person that honestly desires being loved, but she doesn't know how to express it or even get to that level of emotional intimacy. The exception is Amshel, who she is extremely close to, though whether that's out of genuine love, necessity or even something like Stockholm's is up for debate. That being said, this is why Amshel can be considered the true villain of Blood+--despite her vicious nature, it's really Amshel that's the one in charge.

Ah, but about that viciousness! Diva may be very sympathetic because of how she's used and the question repeatedly posed about how if she hadn't been in the tower, she would probably be a perfectly normal girl, but she's still a raging bitch, don't worry. Diva has a complete lack of a moral compass. Killing people for their tennis shoes or raping and killing a young boy to get pregnant doesn't even phase her. She honestly sees nothing wrong with these things, because in her opinion, humans are lesser beings, and her desires come before anyone else's. It's worth noting that she doesn't hate humans, however. She just hasn't spent much time with them positively. When confronted with these moral issues, Diva is genuinely surprised--and that itself isn't surprising. Despite leaving the tower, Diva was still fairly isolated--Amshel kept anyone that he didn't want her to meet away, so she really never developed any kind of morals in that environment of war and Amshel's underhanded dealings.

But that viciousness will change quickly because of her childish nature. One thing may set her off and be an inch from ripping out someone's heart, but when pacified by kind words, she'll be back to perfectly childish and curious.

Her shallowness is shown with her slight obsession with fashion and beauty, getting more upset by her dress being torn than getting shot in the heart. Diva also harbors jealousy very easily. She is extremely jealous, to the point of obsessive, of her sister. Diva wants to take away everything that Saya loves, all because Diva never got to have any of that. This shows the deeper layer to Diva, because beyond all the awful awful bitch, she’s really just a lost little child looking for someone to love her.

Which is to say, that without her Chevalier telling her what to do, Diva is agreeable enough. She’s friendly, childish, outgoing, and very direct. Diva is very disconnected to humans, since humans have only mistreated her all her life, so she is very reluctant to trust them. However, it doesn't stop her from being curious, or at the very least, polite. Though what we see in canon is mostly her being an awful bitch, in a normal situation, she's nice enough. Without her Chevalier there to influence her and without her babies to fawn over, she'll be pleasant to everyone she meets.

Well, at first, anyways.

Abilities/Powers:
...Well. It's worth noting that this section is highly contradictory and badly written in canon, since there are abilities that show up once and are never explained or mentioned again. It's that kind of show. Those are listed here, noted by italics, because even if they're canon I will probably never use them because idek what is going on in my canon sometimes.

- General Vampiric Abilties
As with most vampires in fiction, Diva has a variety of abilities that are standard to all vampires in her universe, including incredible strength (cruise liner anchor tossing), incredible speed (after-images kinds of speed) and incredible senses (identifying and following a heartbeat on a cruise ship). However, at least Diva is weakened in these respects by the fact that she doesn't know how to fight pretty much at all besides brutal and feral ripping and tearing. Someone smart and with some speed/strength would be able to overpower her by outsmarting her without that much effort. Similarly, the longer she goes without drinking blood, the weaker these abilities get, but she gorges herself, so.
- Poisonous Blood
Diva's blood is poisonous to humans (and to Saya/Saya's Chevalier) and will likely kill them if they even ingest a drop of it. The significance in how people overcome that and become a Chevalier isn't explained, but what I generally go with is that it has to be something that Diva consciously wills. Of course, even if she decides to make someone a Chevalier, it's a horribly painful process and just generally not fun.
- Shapeshifting
Diva is able to take someone's appearance to perfection after drinking their blood. It's sort of implied that they even absorb their memories somehow, but I don't use this aspect because it's a pain to RP, for one, and two, it's too much work for an implied power. Though more interestingly, she also can combine people's looks to create an entirely new one—For example, she "mixes" her own appearance with Saya's younger brother to create an entirely different look.
Regeneration
Chiropterans have really extreme and fast regeneration, and can survive anything but extreme mutilation, beheading or fire. Getting shot through the heart is no problem, and losing a limb is not really much of a problem either. Diva in particular also seems to have an extremely high tolerance for pain as well.
- Energy Siphoning
It's shown that Diva can siphon life out of a leaf that had just fallen on her... This is the reason the italics section exists, since idek
- Telepathy
It's shown that the Chevalier and Diva can communicate with each other telepathically but isn't really explained either.

Sample Entry Two:
Diva dipped her fingers into the blood.
Tracing circles lightly in the blood, she then smeared her pinky across her lower lip.
Glancing up to the mirror, it looked like a bright shade of lipstick.
A droplet flowed down to her chin, and she smiled.

"How beautiful."

"Madame, you'll look as beautiful ever in this gown."

Diva just nodded absently as the two maids prepared the dress and its various things for her. She sat in her underclothes in a chair off to the side, looking out the window distantly. The two maids looked at her, then to each other, exchanging nervous glances. Something terrible had happened to their mistress, but she would never give them as much of a hint why. They were rarely allowed to see her at all, since Mr. Goldsmith always had the mistress busy or she simply didn't want any help.

She really looked like an elegant doll, sitting there. Her face was devoid of expression, but still absolutely perfect in every way, and sitting in this big, lonely dollhouse of a mansion, she was the princess. But they couldn't say a word about that. Jill and Claire liked their jobs too much for that. It worried them to see her like this, less out of concern for her, and more out of concern for their jobs.

However, for now, they had to do as they had been told. They held the expensive, vintage dress in their hands as they delicately brushed the fabric to clean and soften it before it was put on her. It seemed to be made of jewels, like the fabric had been dipped in gold and silver. The long, luxuriant fur coat that went with it was no less impressive, and each of them very carefully prepared the dress.

Jill was the one that spoke first, since she held the dress. "Miss Goldsmith, it's ready. Would you rather go in the bathroom to change?"

They both watched curiously as she seemed to be torn from her distant thoughts, and her bright blue eyes met theirs, as if she was surprised to see them. She stood gracefully, walking closer.

"I would. Thank you," she responded politely, but it still felt just as distant and unfeeling. Jill and Claire once again exchanged nervous glances, and Jill led Diva into the bathroom.

"I think it'll look really beautiful on you, dear. You'll stand out at your dinner party for sure!" Jill said cheerfully, but Diva just moved to the counter, starting to busy herself with makeup.

"Oh, do you think so?"

"I'm sure of it! With as beautiful as you are, you're sure to attract a wonderful boyfriend, or even husband," Jill said. It was, to her, a brave statement, since they were sure that was what was the matter. Their poor mistress was still upset over her uncle dying earlier that week.

"I'm not interested. I don't really like being tied down," Diva said coolly, brushing blush onto her pale cheeks, turning them rosy.

Jill frowned, feeling thwarted, and set the dress over her arm until she finished applying her makeup. Once she turned to face her, Jill was taken aback by her appearance once more. With the colors suddenly applied, it seemed that she was even more of a doll. Her skin was so pale that it was the color of porcelain. She wondered if perhaps she really was ill, but didn't get a chance to speak. Diva had already started to take of the top of her underclothes.

The interesting thing about the dress was that it was both beautiful, and slightly dangerous, in a way. The rigidness of the fabric made some of the edges of the petals that made up the skirt rather sharp. Jill moved the dress to start to put it over her mistress' head, but recoiled, making a small noise. Diva looked with disinterest, but her eyes widened to see Jill holding her finger.

A small cut had been formed, and bubbles of blood swelled about the light cut. She realized in an instant that she hadn't eaten at all since Solomon had died.

Oh, that was far too long.

It didn't run like water. It was thicker than that, and flowed slowly, almost with leisure, until it finally dripped down the drain. White tiles were covered by droplets of red, making it look like a pattern. It seemed natural to have the bright crimson against such soft ivory. There was nothing usual about that.

But laying on the floor, that was unnatural. Corpses were unsightly, and not nearly as pretty as the blood that spilled from them. But she didn't look at the corpse. The puddles of blood that slipped down the slightest slope, they were the interesting part. She didn't make a noise, just kept the slight smile on her face. She kneeled, and felt the warmth of fresh blood against her knees, staining the light blue fabric that she wore. That was just as unsightly.

"J-Jill!" Claire screamed from the doorway, and Diva looked up with a small noise of surprise.

Silence filled the house once more, and Diva glanced in the mirror calmly, watching Claire's blood slide down her neck, her shoulders, her breasts, all down until it dripped on the floor. She thought that they looked like ribbons, but it still wasn't as beautiful as she would have liked.

She stepped over the corpse, taking a towel and brushing the ribbons away and slipping off the rest of her clothes to go change into her gown. There was an oppressive silence as she moved the fabric across her skin, stretching and twisting to get into it without tearing the delicate fabric. It settled comfortably on her shoulders, and Diva smiled contently.

Diva shrugged the heavy coat onto her shoulders, looking into the mirror once more before she stepped out of her room. Diva realized, distantly, that something was missing. She stepped into the bathroom once more, looking indifferently at the two bodies collapsed over each other with expressions of terror upon their faces.

A distant memory came to her, and Diva smiled absently. Picking up the corners of her dress carefully, she dipped just the very tips of her fingers into the pools of blood. She took all the care as a woman might normally, smearing the sanguine lipstick across her lips as she looked at her eerily smiling reflection in the mirror. A droplet flowed down to her chin, and she smiled.

"How beautiful."
