Applications Two

APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED!
The next application opening date is Friday 16th January, 7pm EST.
The next application processing date is Friday 23rd January, 7pm EST.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.

While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

Personality:
Kirito is annoying. Kirito is a cool guy. Kirito could be both of them too. People's general first impression of him tends to lean towards positive or neutral judging thanks to how he acts. First of all, he's quick to approach you when he notices that you're in trouble before offering you help, just like some veteran players in any average MMO. Or he could just let loose some snide remark if you happened to be his friend, and he'd still help you anyways. Compared to his portrayal in the SAO arc and ALO arc, Kirito has chilled down from his time-pressed driven self, but that doesn't mean that part of him has been lost completely.

Whenever Kirito has a goal in his mind, without a doubt he'll devote his mind to achieving it. Even if he needs to focus on other things, there's always some parts of his mind thinking about said goal. Whether it's escaping from the Death Game known as Sword Art Online or getting Asuna back from the clutches of Sugou, he puts the main goals in the forefront of his thought and the others on the back of his head, clearing those minor goals whenever he could and still putting effort on his main goal. In a sense, Kirito has some weird tunnel-vision when it comes to his goals. That in itself is another cause for the problems he's encountered throughout his life.

Distancing people tends to be something Kirito is well-known for back in his Aincrad days. Being a solo player during the period of time the «Death Game» was taking place, he tends to prefer to work alone unless his partner is one of his close acquaintances. Nowadays he's not averse to working in parties, but still for most of the times keep his own thoughts to himself. In the Underworld arc, it's quite obvious that he's keeping the truth of the world to the others. Compounded with that is the fact that he's keeping secrets from Eugeo about his real reason of climbing the tower.

Guilt is another concept that Kirito's awfully familiar with. During the duration of Sword Art Online's service, Kirito's reason for becoming a Solo Player is partly because of his need for efficiency. The other part that he rarely disclosed to anyone but his closest friends is the fact that he doesn't want to people to die around him. This was due to the fact that he got all his guild members killed due to his failure of disclosing complete information about himself. The loss of a certain member called Sachi was what caused him to be obsessed with finding an event item that's said to be able to revive a killed person. During that period of time Kirito's eyes were completely empty and soulless, the immense guilt having eaten him over completely.

To others close to him, Kirito's definitely gentler, in a sense. He's more likely to tease them as well as act a bit more open to them. While that doesn't mean he's readily sharing secrets with them, it does mean that Kirito at least trusts them enough to show parts of his true emotions to them. It's readily obvious that Kirito's willing to go through hell and back for his loved ones and close comrades. This is shown by how he aimed to clear Alfheim Online's main objective to save Asuna, as well as getting out of the Underworld as soon as possible so as to not worry his friends. If you thought his tunnel-vision towards his goals were bad, it's worse when it involves his friends. It's shown that if you harm them, he's not going to hesitate to kill you without second thoughts.

Even with his capability of holding his temper in check in daily situations, it's surprisingly easy to get Kirito to snap into anger. Threatening his friends with words or insulting them in front of him usually triggers this response. Another possibility is to be as much of a villain as possible, or to have tricked everyone in a massive scale of one's true intention. Without a doubt that while Kirito's already an impressive fighter during his normal state, it doesn't compare to his berserker-like strikes and ruthlessness when he's angered. The fact that he can't lose any more loved ones also served as an impetus for him to end fights as quickly as possible when pressured. This attributed to his precise commands for his skills as well as his movements in the fight, so as to end it within a few strikes.
