We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.

We now have a test drive community at haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.

While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

Well this is unexpected.

[Waking up in a room full of other people is definitely not the usual for someone who has spent the majority of his life living alone--without even a parent to attend to him. Eyes scanning the faces of the other inhabitants of the room, he doesn't recognize a single one.

Memory hazy, he tries to recall the last thing he can remember happening but nothing comes to mind beyond Izumi Nase sitting across from him on the train. What had happened between then and now to get him here? Had he really been that tired and vulnerable that he hadn't even realized what had happened to him?]

No one is wearing glasses, so I know this isn't a dream.

[The sudden realization makes him gasp. No! It wasn't possible. Hands patting down the pocket of his jacket, he feels the familiar shape beneath his palm and hurriedly fumbles to pull out the plastic frames from within.]

T-Thieves! All of you! I'm missing two pair! I spent seven painstaking hours going through them last night for the perfect pair!

Sample Entry Two:
His only real power is his immortality, which was rendered completely null and void the moment he stepped on the roof. The only ability he had to help, just gone. Even going up there to make sure nothing happened to her had been vetoed as no one trusted him not to throw himself in harm’s way if something did happen.

All for the sake of a little fresh fruit.

Any number of things could happen to her up there with the monstrous plants. They could devour or trap her. They could impale her. They could break her glasses! No! No. He couldn't think about that right now. It was too depressing.

He would have taken time to scavenge nearby to pass the time and make himself feel better about everything but he didn't want to go too far in case she returned while he was gone. He swore he would go the moment she stepped back in the door safe and sound and not come back until he had enough for both of their shares for the next few days.

"Kuriyama-san!" She stumbled in the door, a few large gashes on her legs and arms a sign of her struggles. Akihito rushed to her side, only to get the makeshift bag of fresh produce shoved into his arms.

"It's not worth it," he sighs, taking the bag from her. Opening up the cloth to start sorting everything. "Eggs. Eggs would be worth it, right now. I'd kill for a rice omelette."
