Applications Two

APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED!
The next application opening date is Friday 16th January, 7pm EST.
The next application processing date is Friday 23rd January, 7pm EST.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.

While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

ninjawon: from "damo" (the kickass)

Solomon Goldsmith | Blood+ | Reserved pt 2

Personality: You know those people who look super nice and wear all white as if it reinforce that whole "innocent" image, but actually turn out to be serial murderers in the end? Yeah, that's not such a far off description of Solomon.

On a good day, Solomon is perfecting his "CEO of a world-wide pharmaceutical company" persona (the harmless one), where he's indulging in business-savvy knowledge and diplomatic smiles. It wouldn't be so far off to assume that Solomon's good at talking and good at getting his way thanks to the nature of his job. On the other hand, the reason he's so good is because he honestly doesn't let anything stop him. Crushing the organs of a fellow Chevalier to make a point? Done! Subtly manipulating a thirteen year old's fantasies about a dead friend coming back to life? Easy peasy. The moral compass that swivels in the direction of doing the right thing that everyone has is lost on Solomon. Solomon has a clearly defined goal in mind, and his iron-clad persistence is far more important than trying not to offend people's sensibilities. He never thinks twice about using the people around him, but instead of using physical violence 24/7, Solomon sometimes prefers diplomacy. It's easier to attract bees with honey, or so the saying goes.

And it's true that first impressions would judge Solomon to be a fairly cheerful and friendly individual, as one Riku Miyagusuku would attest to. He'll even go as far as to break someone out of captivity and teach them helpful Chiropteran life lessons. And he's all for being helpful and cooperating with others too, even if they are humans, or even saving lives. It's important to remember that Solomon is never friendly without reason though. It all ties into the end he wishes to achieve. He just doesn't find anything wrong with being a fake bitch Nice Person if it means getting the things he needs. Still, Solomon clearly has a sadistic side for all his pretenses. He takes pleasure in provoking others and causing pain and revels in misfortune like the true Adjusted Person he is. He was more than willing to tell Riku that his dear sister Saya killed Charles, just as he was inclined to taunt Charles about his position in life. Fortunately, Solomon is able to control this side of him like when he helpfully decides not to tell Riku that the boy he's talking to is a clone of Charles. In one of the omakes, it shows Solomon eagerly preparing for his 'talk with Charles' by setting up a cage full of moths (one of the things Charles hates the most, which Solomon obviously knows) and then expressing disappointment when Amshel says "no".

Whatever Solomon's previous motivations for living were as a human, I think it's safe to say that most of them has ceased to be important to him. Instead, his apparent goal in life now is directly tied to the question, "Can a Chiropteran give birth?" which is also tied to "Can Chiropterans be bound by human emotions?" Who the hell cares about that, is probably the proper response to any of Solomon's weird science fetishes, but Solomon's not exactly in his right mind any more. Immortality has taken its toll on him. Obsessing over a goal, having a goal, means that he has something to think about other than the fact that he's lived for far too long. He needs a purpose to sustain himself. But like Amshel, it has twisted him. And yet, in a series of weirdly conflicting events, Solomon goes as far as to abandon both Amshel and Diva later in canon. His reason? Because "they disgust him". I imagine that the real reason was the realization that Amshel might be only using him and his now short-lived patience in having to deal with Diva. So far all of Solomon's desires, he has just enough arrogance to dislike being treated as a pawn and a babysitter.

The ease in which he switches loyalties implies that he's never truly prized his relationship with his "brothers" or Diva. Which isn't surprising when you remember that Solomon first and foremost is loyal to himself. He hasn't turned into a complete traitor at his point in canon yet, so he's still loyal to Diva and Amshel and would be inclined to ensure the safety of the former. It wouldn't take much to push him though.

Abilities/Powers: Solomon is a Chiropteran which are creatures that evolved from batlike ancestors (so like a vampire, except not). As Diva's Chevalier, he's one step higher than the average Chiropteran.

Chiropterans possess a ridiculous amount of strength, able to slice limbs off like cutting through butter, send people flying into the wall with a single flick of their fingers, and cause massive amounts of property damage. Their speed cannot be gauged by the human eye, appearing from place to place in almost a blink of an eye. They possess huge clawed hands and sometimes batlike wings, although Chevaliers do not normally carry around these physical attributes. Instead, Chevaliers can partly or fully shift between their original human form into the Chiropteran form. They can also change their appearances to mimic the humans they've drunk from.

Chiropterans also have a healing factor that allows them to almost instantaneously recover from small wounds (like cuts or severed hands), regenerate lost limbs/organs, and even recover from decapitation (and complete body mutilation). Their five senses are good enough to hear, smell, and see far better than a regular human's. (Ex: seeing in the dark, hearing frequencies that normal humans can't).

As a Chevalier, Solomon requires human blood to feed on (but apparently they can also drink/eat other things like wine or food. It's not that they need normal food though. Most likely it's only blood that can sustain them). He's pretty much immortal, immune to illnesses, and can only be killed by the blood of the opposing queen Saya. (He can theoretically die if his regeneration doesn't kick in soon enough to kill him, but it's still a theory in practice in canon??) He also can't sleep/doesn't require sleep. Chevaliers do not age, but it's been shown that their hair can still grow, weird.
