Applications Two

APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED!
The next application opening date is Friday 16th January, 7pm EST.
The next application processing date is Friday 23rd January, 7pm EST.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.

While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

To see what we are looking for:

Re: Blake Belladonna | RWBY | Reserved

[personal profile] ninjaslove 2014-01-21 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: Blake's nature could easily be summed up as calm and collected. She is someone that prefers to stay quiet in most situations, only speaking up when she feels the need to. When she is first introduced in the series she's reading a book and not interacting with anyone, showing that she's perfectly fine with being alone. However as the series progresses and Blake is seen talking to people more, it's indicated that she just has trouble talking to new people. Blake likes being around people, even if it's just their presence. She might not talk an awful lot but that doesn't mean she doesn't enjoy the company of someone. Blake loves to read, preferring it to socially interacting in some cases, at least initially. Majority of the time when Blake is seen she has some sort of book with her, her love for reading all too apparent. At one point Ruby and Yang make an attempt to talk to her while she's reading, but doing so nearly ends in failure for both of them. Blake tries to ignore them at first, making a comment about how the night is lovely but not as lovely as the book which she'll continue to read. She tries to shoo them both away but Ruby ends up winning her over by asking her what her book was about. Blake engages Ruby in a conversation about her book, feeling some sort of connection with the girl. Blake isn't entirely opposed to engaging someone in conversation, she simply needs some prodding sometimes. Blake can act a little sarcastic and humorous at times as well with her friends, showing that she's able to let loose a little after feeling like she can trust someone.

While Blake seems a little distant and cold, she has an attitude about her. She isn't afraid to speak her mind about something if it's bothering her, or simply telling someone off. She doesn't do it all that often, but if she feels like shutting a person up then she will most certainly try to do so. Several times throughout the series this is shown, and in most instances it made her become disliked by some. When she first talked to Weiss she remarked that her company was shady and had questionable business partners, causing Weiss to storm off. Blake wasn't bothered by her reaction at all, in fact she simply turned and walked away as well after that. When she feels annoyed at someone that's when these moments of sass leave her, knowing just what to say to someone. At one point in canon a boy named Cardin spoke his opinions about the Faunus species in a bad way, and it was both Pyrrha and Blake that ganged up on him and pointed out how stupid he was. She's a clever and quick witted girl, but this side of her only comes out when she feels the need to humiliate someone.

Blake used to be someone that was very optimistic about the world. There was a time in her life where she felt like she could really make a difference and get people to think differently. Blake was involved with an organization called The White Fang for most of her life, a group that dedicated it's time to trying to liberate the Faunus. In the world she lives in, the Faunus are half human and half animal. There are many different types of Faunus, and Blake herself is a cat Faunus. While she was in The White Fang she was dedicated to protesting and making a difference in the world. All she wanted was for humans to see the Faunus as equals to them, as people, but there are far too many that think they're nothing more than monsters. Blake slowly saw everything change around her within the organization, and that included the way peopled viewed them and their leaders. It was said that five years ago everything changed for the group, they wanted people to fear the Faunus instead of trying to get them to be accepted. Blake went along with the group, but she still didn't agree with all of it. It was then that Blake started to see that not everything has a happy ending like the many fairytales that she reads. At one point she was fascinated with a happy ending, but now that she saw that everything could fall apart so easily Blake became more of a realist. She stayed within the group for as long as she could, but in the end she couldn't shake those feelings that this was so wrong. Blake has a strong sense of right and wrong in that case, preferring to be on the side of justice than one that uses fear and intimidation. She still had trouble trusting humans fully however, it's why she wears a bow to cover her ears and it's why she never told her friends about being a Faunus. She wants to trust them though, and while it's hard for her she does prefer to be with them than with her surrogate family. While Blake isn't with The White Fang anymore, she still feels bad for leaving them. She had to do it of course, she just couldn't kill humans or cause anyone harm that didn't deserve it. Even so Blake felt pained about leaving, as it was shown in the Black trailer as she said goodbye to her former partner, Adam.

While Blake is generally quiet with a little bit of added sass here and there, she's prone to get riled up when someone insults something important to her. A time where she was completely upset in canon would be when Weiss insulted the Faunus. It wasn't known she was one of them at the time, but she yelled at Weiss and told her that she was being ridiculous. Blake was hurt that her friend insisted that the Faunus kind were simply a bunch of animals, she simply couldn't believe a friend of hers would act that way. While she was indeed troubled by this, she knew she couldn't fully blame Weiss. Blake was a part of the organization that attacked the Schnee company again and again, so she took part in harming Weiss too. Blake refused to back down throughout their argument however, wanting Weiss to see that she was being terribly discriminatory. That was the only instance where Blake lost her cool, and she regretted it afterwards. It was after that argument that Blake ran out of the room, heading towards the front of Beacon. There she spotted a statue, seeing the humans triumphant over the beasts that they all fought. She felt terrible at seeing that, thinking that humans really will only see her kind as animals. Blake might hold her emotions back quite a bit, but in that moment she felt her emotions pour over and she shed a few tears. Blake might act cold, but she's simply afraid sometimes to let people in since they might hate her for being a Faunus.

Blake is currently attending Beacon Academy, a place where they train Hunters and Huntresses. She's striving to become a Huntress, so she possesses many fighting skills. Blake isn't afraid to fight someone, she'll attack a person or a monster if she feels the need. She's a stealthy person, able to conceal herself within the shadows and attack with precision. She might not have the most powerful of blows, but she's extremely quick. She's more than capable of fighting the creatures of Grimm that plague Remnant.

Abilities/Powers: Aura: In the world of Remnant there are certain abilities that Hunters and Huntresses have, along with other special individuals. Within them lies a power called aura, and each aura is different and comes with different powers. An aura serves as a kind of force field, absorbing attacks from an enemy. When the aura for a person grows low it becomes very dangerous for them, they'll begin to sustain serious damage. For Blake, her aura allows her to create clones of herself while she fights. Most of the time she uses it in order to avoid an attack or allow the clone to take a blow instead of her.

Speed: Blake's speed and endurance is above average as well. When she fights enemies she's able to take on multiples with ease, slicing through them and able to tell just who to fight next. She's extremely quick and she doesn't tire easily.

Faunus Traits: It's been said in canon that Faunus are known to have nearly perfect vision at night, thus Blake possesses this as well. Not only that, but with her set of cat ears she's able to pick up on sounds way better than a human. This was shown in an episode where Ruby was falling from the sky, and it was only Blake that seemed to hear her far above them.

Gambol Shroud: Blake fights with a weapon that acts as a katana, a gun, and a chain-sickle. Even the sheath itself is like a cleaver, so she could easily wield both of them for even more devastating attacks.

Items/Weapons: Gambol Shroud, her pajamas, and her clothes.

Sample Entry: [the camera turns on to a young woman staring into it. she looked less than pleased, her eyes narrowing in dissatisfaction.]

I find it rather hard to believe that whatever force there is here, they're somehow able to completely wipe all text from every book and sign.

[how on earth was she supposed to read her books now if there was no text at all. she sighed lightly, her frustration growing.]

Even going so far as to make it impossible for someone to write. I've already tested it and the writing simply disappears after a while. I can only imagine why they would want to do this- it's probably to keep information from being passed around.

[she shakes her head.] Even so, I would have liked at least some books to stay intact. I wonder if the leaders here have anything against fantasy or mystery novels.

[...wait.] Or they can't read themselves and have banned it so they don't have to admit that. In all actuality, this is more annoying than anything. Is there anything to do here that isn't entirely pointless?

Sample Entry Two: Today was the day, it was time.

Blake walked through the forest of Forever Fall, her steps concealed as she walked lightly. She had a little time before the operation, a little time to think to herself. The young woman dreaded what was about to come today, she had been asked to participate in raiding the Schnee train. There would be a large shipment of Dust on it, the rarest kind, and she had been chosen to go. Not only her, but her partner Adam was asked to assist as well. They didn't deny the request, she obliged, all with a heavy heart. She had slowly seen everything she loved within The White Fang slowly die and it was replaced with monstrous tactics. All she wanted was to make a difference, and she didn't think this was the way at all.

She had to tell him, she had to inform Adam what she thought.

The cat Faunus sat atop a rock within the forest, stretching her legs out and she simply watched the sky. The petals were blowing, they were so beautiful and free. Blake longed for that kind of freedom, to simply leave and be on her own. She knew that she could just get up and go, but she was also afraid to leave her own family. She had been raised within that group, and to leave was just...

It left her feeling empty.

She knew she had to go through with today, to just get it over with then think about leaving. Adam might want to go with her, right? She would ask him, she really wanted to. It was all so strange, she felt like all her friends around her were constantly slipping away as well. Adam wasn't the same anymore, he was far more cold and distant. She saw it, the fact that he loved to kill. She couldn't stand what had happened after the new leaders came into power, and she wanted to fight for what was right again.

"Blake..." it was him, it was her partner. Slowly Blake closed her eyes, steeling herself, "it's time."

She turned to look at him over her shoulder, seeing just how eager he was. It was in that moment she realized that she couldn't tell him she was leaving.

"Okay."
