We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.

We now have a test drive community at haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.

While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

So, no writing huh? That's a first. Not the weirdest thing that's ever happened, but still something to get used to.

[She sighs.]

Anything else that's taboo around here? I'd rather not get killed before I get back to go through who-knows-what again. Though if I've heard correctly, death isn't permanent here.

[There's another pause, and she puts a hand to her chin.]

Still, it's something that I would like to avoid. I've talked to a couple of people, so I already know the bare minimum. I just want the gaps filled, if anyone can help me with that. It's good to know what I'm getting into.

Sample Entry Two:

It was strange, after everything that had happened, that she ended up in another place entirely. She couldn't help but wonder initially if it was because of a jump, but then she quickly realized just the opposite. There were so many other people here, people from worlds that she'd never heard of. It might've been unbelievable before, but then again, there were a lot of things that were supposedly unbelievable happening to her lately. So seeing and interacting with people from different worlds weren't so strange.

What was mildly strange was that there weren't more from the rest of the group that were here. As far as she'd been able to tell so far, it was only herself and Luna. What about Sigma? Or Clover, Quark, Tenmyouji and the rest? Why take the two of them, and not the others?

Where most people would be fighting for a way out, she wasn't quite so much. Maybe figuring out the circumstances that brought them here in the first place would lead in that direction, but seeing as how the others had been here for some time, the answer wasn't going to be so easy to come by. So instead of dwelling on something that wouldn't get her anywhere, she figured she could at least try to figure out something else instead. And...keep mindful of whatever Haven decided to throw at her.

It was going to be interesting, to say the least.

While the application looks great, we would just like to ask for a revise based on the abilities section.

The reason for this is that we are unsure how you anticipate Phi's ability to work within Haven. Phi's power to jump through realities via the morphogenetic field is a power well utilized to the setting of VLR and what occurs in the game, but we would like to request an exploration of how this power would work in Haven. As Phi can jump across alternate universes, what would be the consequences if she did so and what would she accomplish?

Phi's power to jump through the morphogenetic field helps the most in the "main" timeline or the "true" end, with all the information she's gained and the ability that she's been able to somewhat harness.

Anyway, while in Haven, I would treat the linear Haven as the "main" timeline where the information she would gain from alternate timelines would come to her. Anything that she gains would be plotted out oocly (to prevent a godmode-type situation) with the muns or mod in question, and would happen only in certain circumstances. But as in the game, she would have these brief flashes of "memories" where she would know certain information, again, that was talked about oocly beforehand. Accomplishments could be: gaining useful information to (attempt) to divert something bad happening in Haven or to other characters. Consequences, however, could be an all out migraine -- sensitivity to light, nausea, and in some cases, blurred vision.

...Something like this? I'm not too sure what you guys were looking for, but this is what I came up with based on your request.
