We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.

We now have a test drive community at haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.

While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

Sample Entry Two:
For a moment, he was actually relieved to hear the alarm clock. Onoxious as it was, it gave him hope that maybe the whole Marie-being-held-hostage thing was just a dream after all, or a weird nightmare. Not that he remembers ever setting an alarm clock... and if he did, the sound waking him up would be something far more creative and pleasant. Actual music, for example.

But then, maybe that's when Raphael slowly starts to realize it. This isn't his dream, and it isn't his room or his bed at all.

It isn't even Paris; and the last thing he remembers is flying -- no, hanging high in the air, gliding, with a voice shouting at him to stay awake. Stay alive.

"...Charlie," he whispers weakly in a groan. For the first time, he opens his eyes and struggles to sit up; though the murmurs from the other people in the room keep him otherwise hushed. "If I'd known you were going to drop me, I would've..."

He trails off, flinching as he expects the worst from his pain; because yes, while the bullet only grazed him, that was enough. Being shot at again afterwards and tossed about willy nilly during the air chase certainly didn't help matters, either... but soon, he realizes he feels nothing at all. Perhaps he's just numb from the impact -- or perhaps it really was a just scratch. Perhaps this is a hospital, and he's actually recovered. Perhaps Charlie just left him there.

Disappointment colors his face when he notices the sleeve of his favorite suit tainted with his blood and nasty burn marks; and with all that in his mind, he finishes his earlier thought.

I should've taken you down with me, he muses to himself. His lips start to curl, as if he's trying to force himself to smile, but it's difficult. It ends up stiff and crooked, but regardless, he finally hops off the bed staggers his way to join the others.

His breaths are deep as he adjusts. Even the air in the room feels different, and looking out the window like all the rest have only adds to the oppressive atmosphere.

Describing it as a dump would probably be too generous, he thinks. It definitely isn't the city he knows and loves -- and he knows one thing for sure.

He feels anything but safe.
