Applications Two

APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED!
The next application opening date is Friday 16th January, 7pm EST.
The next application processing date is Friday 23rd January, 7pm EST.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.

While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

Character Name: Henry Mills
Canon: Once Upon A Time
Canon Point: End of Season 2
Background/History: Henry Mills
Previous Game History: Henry was only in Zelien for barely two months, but some events that happened to him there changed his outlook on a few things. Henry arrived on a train like everyone else did, only this time it crashed… partially due to his own mother's efforts along with other people to stop it in order to find a way to get out of the city. After he got healed by a friend of his mom's, he was shocked to find that his dad had also arrived on the same train. Neal had been believed to be dead back home, so he was overjoyed to find that that wasn't the case, and that he could be with his birth parents again.

He settled in fairly alright, restricted to staying on the floor his room was on as far as going anywhere by himself. Henry being Henry didn't exactly do that, and more than once he got scolded for going out on his own. On one such occasion, he ran into Peter Pan. In his future, Pan uses Henry and manipulates him, but this hadn't happened for Henry yet, so the only knowledge he had about Pan is that his parents told him he wasn't to be trusted. Pan, however, convinced Henry that he was going to be a hero that would save Neverland because it had already happened for Pan, that they were friends, and that his family just wanted to protect him from any risks or danger. Henry believed him and kept that from his family members. Henry also made a few friends with other kids that were his age, too. He befriended D'Artagnan and asked him and his grandpa David if they could give him sword fighting lessons.

Probably the biggest thing that had the greatest impact on Henry at Zelien was during the 28 Days Later event. The campus at Zelien was brought to London and Henry was wise enough to immediately seek out an adult… after taking a look outside, of course. He couldn't contact Neal but was able to talk to Emma, and he met up with his mom, only to find out that he wasn't able to contact Neal because he had been sent back home. The loss of his dad upset him, but he did his best not to show it too much. A group of people from Storybrooke and a few other tagalongs made their way to a safehouse after London started getting worse to be in. Whenever they came across zombies, Henry stayed in the car as he was instructed to while the fighters cleared the roads. On one such occasion, though, a zombie managed to grab him and haul him out of the car. His grandpa David killed the zombie before it could infect him, but it still left him shaken up. Ever since then, Henry's been more cautious, sticking closer to adults and not going outside on his own anymore, even after they were brought back to Zelien.

Personality: For an eleven year old kid, Henry has quite a few admirable qualities about him. However, he's not perfect. Henry very much wants to be a hero like his grandparents and birth mom. He's willing to do anything to help, wanting to prove that even though he's still just a kid, he can be useful. When he gets an idea or plan in his head, he tends to stubbornly stick to it most of the time, even if he hasn't really thought through the consequences or dangers of it. Sometimes his young naïveté also shows in these ideas.

Henry is a smart and brave kid, curious and inquisitive. He's not afraid to go places on his own even if they might be potentially dangerous, like exploring a cave or going to a big city. Getting to go on adventures, especially ones outside of Storybrooke, excite him, although he sees Storybrooke as his home and always plans on going back there when he's left it. His bravery also has led to moments of selflessness, like willing to risk harm to himself in order to help people, or offering to help someone who's injured even though the person might be frightening him. He's pretty good at using his words to twist a conversation around in order to get what he wants.

Henry has a good heart, sometimes showing a degree of maturity for someone so young. There've been times where he's able to look at things from an objective perspective, stating what the true problem is when people are playing the blame game on each other. He doesn't bear any ill will towards anyone, often being friendly, caring, and trusting even towards people he doesn't know very well unless they give him a reason to be wary of them. He's gotten upset when people have gotten hurt due to things he or his family has done. He believes there is good in everyone, even his adoptive mother who is the Evil Queen. Even after all the things she's done, he still loves her because she's still the mother who raised him and loves him. He refuses to resort to killing someone, no matter how evil they are, and refuses to let anyone he cares about to be left behind or left behind to die. There always has to be a way to save someone and no one is beyond saving, unless they're dead. He sees the world in black and white, and is quick to judge and reject anyone who does anything he feels is evil, even though he still believes its possible for them to redeem themself by doing good things. Henry has strong faith in good, believing that good will always win, and sometimes this faith dwindles when discouraging thing happen but his hope never goes away completely.

As someone who was adopted, family is also something that is extremely important to him and something that he has strong faith in. He never doubts that his family will find some way to pull through and come out on top of any situation. He's eager to get more in touch with his fairy tale family heritage like learning to sword fight and ride a horse. Family is a large reason why honesty is so important to him. For a long time, he believed that magic was real and that the people of Storybrooke were actually fairy tale characters, but his adoptive mother made him think he might be crazy and delusional, even though she knew he was right. He also used to think she didn't care about him, making his desire for a true family stronger, but doesn't think that anymore. He has conflicted feelings about magic, because it's an amazing thing that can be useful when used in a good way but it also is the cause of a lot of pain and clashing in his family when he just wants them all to get along and be happy together. He's more than willing to live without magic if it means he can be with his family. Sometimes his feelings about family have caused him to get into situations where he shows naivete, like when he was eager to prove Tamara was bad in the hopes that getting her out of the way meant his own parents might get back together, or urging David and Mary Margaret to get together when David was married to someone else.

Some other flaws Henry has are he doesn't often do as he's told when someone tells him to stay someplace safe or don't do something dangerous. Even though he hates when people hide things from him or keep him in the dark, he's also not above lying himself. Henry is willing to break quite a lot of rules in order to do what he feels is right, doing stuff that is sneaky and not quite lawful, like breaking into places and/or even stealing things. When he gets angry or upset about something, he usually doesn't yell, instead withdrawing from the person he's upset with, acting rebellious and standoffish to them and sometimes even being flippant. Henry is still a relatively normal young boy though. He enjoys doing things like playing on a playground, swinging on a rope swing, reading comic books, playing video games, and going to the arcade.
Abilities/Powers: Henry is normal human kid.
Items/Weapons: Practice sword, his Once Upon A Time storybook (the writing will disappear but I figured the pictures would still be there?), his backpack (which will be empty because I figured anything inside of it would count as another item, he'll use it to carry his book around in)
