Applications Two

APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED!
The next application opening date is Friday 16th January, 7pm EST.
The next application processing date is Friday 23rd January, 7pm EST.
IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE
We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.
In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.
You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.
Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.
If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.
Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.
We now have a test drive community athaventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.
While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

fin.
Hunting; As said, Dean is a hunter. He knows how to track an enemy without being seen, knows how to lure them out to begin with and not blow his cover. He has nerves of steel when the situation calls for it, and he takes his job very seriously. He's been in the game for most of his life, from the moment his dad started training him for the role of a hunter.
Dean knows his job. He knows how to deal with his prey, and even if a new creature of some kind pops up, he's very good at figuring out the hows and whys of eradicating the new species. His knowledge on mythology and such is very extensive, and along the ways he has even picked up a few skills in spells himself. Fro example, he knows how to use the angel banishing spell.
He knows how to handle a hunt, from the very early stages of purely asking questions, to finally taking out whatever creature crossed his path. He can be stealthy, and come up with last-minute changes to plans that end up working out, such as a sudden to find an escape route, or change tactics on how to handle the creature he's hunting. His tactical skills often step in as well in the form of being able to read people easily, and knowing how to manipulate them into whatever role he wants them to play.
He's a con-man, able to lie and deceive his way to information that may be inaccessible to a normal person. His skills as a hunter have also lead to him being very skilled at quite a few things that wouldn't sit well with the law. He can pick locks, break into tightly secured buildings and hot-wire cars. Dean also knows how police departments and other such systems work, being able to both impersonate them and avoid them when needed with surprising ease.
Another trait picked up from his father which also plays into his life as hunter, is how well-versed he is in the skills of a mechanic. Dean used to keep his '67 Chevy Impala in top condition and has an extensive knowledge on automobiles and engines alike.
These skills all still apply to the man he is in 2014, though he has been tested in becoming the camp's leader, and thus is in charge of missions. He plans well, though, knows his enemies and is usually as prepared as can be when taking on a mission.
Weapon handling; As a hunter, Dean knows his firearms and other monster-handling equipment better than he knows most day-to-day items. From a very early age, Dean was left with the task of looking after his brother while their dad went off on a hunt. John Winchester would give his eldest son a gun and the orders to look after Sam, and to shoot first, ask later. This lead to Dean knowing how to use a gun at a very early age, and by the time he was 11, he'd built his own gun.
This also lead to Dean growing up very skilled with melee weapons, and he is also an exceptionally good shot. He is often seen with weapons such as a chromed Colt 1911, presumably a gun he got from his father, and also a Desert Eagle which is often rounded up with salt bullets. Dean also knows how to handle a sniper rifle, and a machete-- and other large knives and blades.
When all else fails, don't count him out as being uncreative, for Dean'll use just about anything as a weapon if the situation turns grim like that. This is especially the case with the way the future is rolling out, as certain day-to-day items have become rarities and sometimes getting creative is the only way to survive.
Hand-to-hand combat; When things get a little too up close and personal, or he doesn't want to hurt whoever he is fighting, Dean often goes with hand-to-hand combat. It is never revealed what kind of style he uses, but from what is seen, Dean is very skilled at subduing and disarming a person with no weapons of his own. He is also able to take on supernatural creatures this way, though they might be physically stronger than him. However, with things getting worse and worse, and him having to fight more infected people than not, it's a lot easier for Dean to simply pull a trigger than to get too close.
Torture; While in Hell, Dean was Alistair's student, and learned the skills of inflicting torture. He knows how to inflict the absolute maximum amount of pain on a person without having them die, and was hailed as a skilled torturer. Once the Croatoan virus spread and people began to lose their mind, Dean was forced to pick up this skill again in order to extract answers from those who were far more unwilling to give them. It seems that by 2014, he really has no trouble doing so either anymore.
Items/Weapons:
✘ the clothes he's wearing which includes one ( 1 ) thigh holster
✘ the empty Colt ; weapon he attempted to kill Lucifer with
✘ one ( 1 ) Taurus PT99 + pack of bullets
Sample Entry:
[ to some, the angry, burning green eyes are the first thing you see when the feed clicks on, coupled with the straight lines of a hardened face glaring at the screen. it could be a familiar face even, only aged and roughed out by the harder hurdles of life. still, never before has dean probably looked this angry before.
needless to say, this constant back and forth between worlds isn’t anything he ever signed up for. ]
Whoever did this has exactly one minute to explain what's going on before I take matters into my own hands. [ that being, he starts demanding answers from whoever he runs into. and trust him, you don't want that. not when he's holding a gun in one hand that seems have been drawn from the thigh-holster wrapped around his right leg. ]
Fifty seconds...
[ time’s ticking. you're welcome to stick around and see if he's joking or not though. just try him. ]

-> REVISE
The reason for this is that the linked sample is written in first person/action spam format. You are welcome to link to another thread or log, or write a new sample.
We apologize for the inconvenience, and you have one week to reply to these revisions. Thank you.
Re: -> REVISE
And another sample;
The grass under him was cold, a bitter reminder of the world around him, the same freezing ice that ran through his veins also in the very ground of the planet. Dean knew he wouldn't be sad to see this world go, not even if he'd been trying to save it for the past five years. It's been a long fight -- a long, useless fight that they lost the moment Sam said yes.
Sam, the familiar face, is now looming above him, the white leather of his shoe pressing down on his neck and all Dean can do is look up at his once-little brother. Now it's Lucifer staring down at him, tugging his brother's lips into a twisted smirk that his Sammy would have never even been capable of. But Sam, just like the people who thought of him as their leader -- his friends -- is a lost cause. A sacrifice that this world had demanded.
Sacrifices, so many sacrifices. And this mission had lead to one of the biggest, and now he had to give himself a moment to...hope that Cas' death had been a quick one.
Dean saw himself, the past-him, stumble onto the scene, and knew his time was coming to an end. No words were needed, his past-self had to be able to see that this future was not something he wanted, that he should do everything in his power to not end up here, under Lucifer's mercy.
A snap-crack and the world goes black.
Death embraces him, like it has many times before, but instead of falling down into the pits of Hell where he belongs, Dean finds a weightlessness around him for a moment -- much like being transported by an angel -- and then his back is once again against something solid.
He waits for pain, the first slice of many under the hands of Hell's demons, but nothing happens. It's only after a bit that he blinks his eyes open, and finds that either this isn't Hell, or the place has gone through some serious renovation. A push off the ground -- his neck isn't broken, how is his neck not broken? -- and he's sitting up, the world around him foreign and very much not the place where he had fallen.
There's no curses, no shouts of surprise, only the dragging of his body as he gets up with a tense frame. A quick look to all sides -- no immediate enemies in sight -- and his hand goes to his thigh; a single gun strapped there having never been drawn when faced with Lucifer.
Death or a nightmare, if there's something lurking in the shadows, he'll be ready.
