Applications Two

APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED!
The next application opening date is Friday 16th January, 7pm EST.
The next application processing date is Friday 23rd January, 7pm EST.
IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE
We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.
In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.
You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.
Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.
If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.
Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.
We now have a test drive community athaventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.
While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

-> REVISE
The reason for this, is that we would like to see more of how Dante's relationships have shaped him, specifically with Vergil.
We apologize for the inconvenience, and you have one week to reply to these revisions. Thank you.

Dante’s life has been shaped, largely by his relations to four different people - Sparda, Eva, Vergil, and Lady. Trish, who Dante would have just met at this canon point, would not leave the impact that she does until the end of the first Devil May Cry but it is worth nothing that meeting her and her similarity to Eva, does confuse Dante greatly and she does eventually become one of his best allies.
Everything starts with Sparda, of course. Sparda, winning the award for not so great father, left a giant target painted on his family when he left them. Dante feels of course, very hurt and betrayed by this and it’s a feeling that’s never left him. It was of Sparda’s actions, indirectly, that ultimately set him off on his course. The game is never clear on whether Dante was aware of Sparda’s personality, only his deeds. However despite Dante’s hostility towards his father, it seems that Dante has inherited his father’s sense of justice and his belief in the soul.
Eva’s murder, is of course the catalyst for the separation of the twins Dante and Vergil. In contrast to his animosity to Sparda, Dante adored Eva and greatly mourned her passing. The same could be said of Vergil, but they have taken different stances on the issue. Another issue was the amulets that both twins had - as they were the key for releasing Sparda's power.
There is no doubt despite what happened, that Dante loves Vergil, as is apparent when he mourned his passing (or rather, disappearance into the demon world) but even though the same blood flowed from their veins, they took opposing stances on the idea of strength and power. Vergil had discarded his human nature in order to possess the strength of his father’s blood, believing that human frailty of the heart and weakness was nothing more than a hinderance. He believed that seizing the power from his demonic heritage would allow him to avenge his mother and his initial separation from Dante, hence his reason for trying to open the demon world after Sparda sealed it. Note that Vergil's quest of power goes against what Sparda's presumably last act as a demon was, and that Vergil seems to have no qualms with bloodthirsty demons running rampant. Encountering Vergil again after that period of separation in Devil May Cry 3 leaves Dante doubting because Vergil seems to be right, but at the same time he isn't. Nothing good comes from being selfishly powerful, which is one of Dante's key beliefs. Yet Dante knows he's using his own demonic blood to the same end. It's a pickle at first, ultimately, with Lady's help, it's Dante's belief in the strength of humans and the strength of heart and soul, rather than powerlust that allows him to overpower Vergil and allows him to acquire the Force Edge.
Though he hasn't encountered him yet, when Dante meets Nelo Angelo in Devil May Cry, they are both shaken, though in almost true Dante fashion, it takes him until much much later for him to recognise what Vergil had become. Seeing Vergil in that state spurs him to defeat Mundus more, as Nelo Angelo seems to be possessed by him by some degree.
Lady is the person who set Dante on his course of maturity. She is probably the other person in this series with a whole load of daddy issues, but she approached them in a manner different to Dante. The odds were stacked against her when she went to Temen-ni-gru to face off against Arkham, and yet she felt a strong responsibility to do so in revenge and in the memory of her mother. They fought for the right to kill Arkham, and Dante won fair and square. Lady is the one who makes him realise that it is not a matter of demons versus humans, but rather that of honour. He saw a kindred spirit in Lady, and it is no doubt a testament to her approach to confronting the trials that faced her that allowed him to ultimately become better as a person as well.
