Applications Two

APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED!
The next application opening date is Friday 16th January, 7pm EST.
The next application processing date is Friday 23rd January, 7pm EST.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE

We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.

We now have a test drive community at [community profile] haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.

While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

Character Name: Wally West (AKA, Kid Flash. Baywatch. Kid Mouth. Miss Manners.)
Canon: Young Justice (animated)
Canon Point: Episode 1.20, "Coldhearted"
Background/History: Young Justice Wikia.

Personality:

Wally is, first and most obviously, the goofball of the team. If there's a joke to be made about something, he'll make it. This is not to say he can't be serious when the situation calls for it, but hiding behind bad jokes and sarcasm is easier than showing your actual emotions. He often hides behind his status as the class clown so he can keep living in denial over certain things. When Black Canary called him out on his outburst in response to Artemis's "death" in the failed simulation, Wally simply plays it off and jokes about it. She tells him that he is in denial and all he does is shrug and say he's comfortable with that. To be fair, being a teenaged superhero, it's probably easier ignoring feelings in favor of doing the job. Of course, just because Wally jokes about everything doesn't mean he can't express any emotions. On the contrary, if Wally is passionate about something, he'll let you know.

Or if he thinks it will get girls to like him, he'll lie about it. Wally has since grown out of this mostly, but there was a time he would pretend to like things that he otherwise had no interest in in an attempt to get girls to like him. One instance of this happened when the team was investigating the disappearance of Kent Nelson, Wally quickly gets called out on his bullcrap "magic rules" act after his lying nearly gets the team a dip in a pool of molten lava. After being called out, he begrudgingly states that magic cannot and does not exist. Wally believes that all magical acts have some sort of trick behind it. Kaldur'ahm, the team leader, states that Wally doesn't believe magic exists because it's something he cannot comprehend. However, after experiencing being body snatched by an ancient god, Wally doesn't go out of his way to dismiss magic. He may just think of it as another kind of science and is willing to use it when a situation calls for it such as when Zatanna uses a spell on him so he can rescue another team member.

Wally is a science prodigy and was easily able to recreate the experiment that granted his uncle his superspeed. The results of Wally's experiment were a bit different from the original one, but the final product was still basically the same. His knowledge of scientific things has helped the team on more than one occasion. Ranging from being able to recognize the formula for a new strength enhancing drug, building an EMP, and keeping a volcano from erupting. Science is something he has control over, it's, for the most part, something stable and understandable and having something like that in a world constantly in danger of being destroyed can keep a person sane.

Science isn't the only thing Wally has at his side, of course. He is fiercely loyal to his family and friends and has healthy relationships with them. It is shown that Wally and his parents make up one extremely happy family. Wally's parents love and support him, and in return he feels that he's able to tell them anything. He even felt comfortable enough to take Conner/Superboy to his house for a few days after the escape from Cadmus. Wally is close to all the members of his family, of course. His aunt and uncle especially.

Wally is also close to his teammates. As the series goes on they all become more of a unit and get better at working with their collective strengths and weaknesses. Of course, Wally gets along better with some members of the team than he does others. Robin/Dick Grayson, is Wally's best friend in the entire universe. Their bromance can actually be seen from space. The two of them often joke around with one another and Wally is even, currently, the only member of the team who knows Robin's true identity. Wally being so loyal to his friends is actually one of the main reasons he didn't get along with Artemis at first. He believed that her joining the team, meant that they were replacing and trying to push out Speedy/Red Arrow/Roy, and Wally was quick to let his friend know that if the team had a quota on archers that they would pick Roy over Artemis. Eventually Wally and Artemis act more amicable to one another, and they only bicker occasionally rather than being at each other's throats constantly. The mission gone wrong in Bialya even showed that the two of them could have started out as friends if they had met under different circumstances.

After the mission in the Bialyan desert goes wrong, Kid Flash finds Artemis unconscious and offers to help her. He spends the majority of the day keeping them out of danger, even when he starts to run dangerously low on energy. Wally is more than willing to put his life on the line to save someone, even someone he barely knows. Wally can express compassion as well, this is seen when he comforts Artemis when she's worried about M'gann poking around in their minds.

Even with all of his confidence, Wally still feels self conscious on occasion. He's not as fast as the Flash, and he doesn't even have all the same abilities. He has to eat constantly just so he can use his powers and function properly. He's worried that others don't take him seriously as a protege for these reasons. At his core, though, Wally West is just trying to be one of the good guys. He may crack bad jokes, talk too much, and just generally say the wrong things at the wrong times, but he's still good. He aspires to be a hero just like his mentor. Wally feels good about being good and helping people.

Abilities/Powers:

Wally has super speed. What that basically means is that he can move really, really fast. How fast he can go is never stated exactly, but just shy of breaking the sound barrier is a good estimate. He uses his speed in a variety of ways: creating small tornadoes, ramming himself into enemies, and eating an entire tub of ice cream in under a minute.

He also has very high endurance, which allows him to take blows and recover quickly, and supercharged brain activity, basically meaning that he can think much faster than a normal person. Wally has also been shown to possess some basic gymnastics skills, able to do flips and handsprings at high speeds. He is stronger than the average person his age, being able to pick up and carry people bigger than him without issue. Additionally, he knows basic hand to hand skills, and is seen punching and kicking enemies.

As mentioned before, Wally has an affinity for all things scientific and is knowledgeable enough to create and recreate complicated experiments.

Being a speedster, he, of course, has common speedster weaknesses. Wally's metabolism is hyper-accelerated, which means that he has to eat a lot to maintain energy. If he runs low on energy he becomes sluggish and slightly less coordinated than usual. For occasions when he will be out for more than 24 hours, Wally has a secret compartment in his glove for snacks. Kid Flash, unlike his mentor, needs to be able to accelerate and decelerate when running, if he tries to stop abruptly it results in falling, crashing into things, and hurting himself. He also is susceptible to normal everyday human weaknesses, being that he is still human and everything. He can still get cuts, bruises, and broken bones, but he does heal slightly faster than normal humans do.

His Kid Flash suit also does a few things worth mentioning. The suit has shoulder pads and other body protectors to help cushion Kid Flash when he rams himself into enemies and his gloves come with small compartments for holding snacks. The insignia on his chest doubles as stealth tech and, when pressed, changes the suit into either a black and gray color scheme for covert ops missions, or a white and light gray color scheme for missions in snowy places. Which has been helpful exactly zero times, but hey. Wally also has specially made goggles that protect his eyes from debris while running, work as binoculars, and can even see different light spectrums.

Items/Weapons:

(+) His standard Kid Flash suit
(+) His goggles
(+) His winning personality???

Sample Entry: Here is a recent thread + post!

Sample Entry Two: Here is a recent log. And Also another sample just in case:

This could not be happening. It just couldn't. Being pulled into some weird city that looks like it's falling apart? He could handle that. He's been through worse. Well, actually he hasn't, not really. Wally can keep his chin up though. Not that he has much of a choice in the matter, but even so he's not going to curl up somewhere and wither away. If everyone else can cope with the day to day in this place, then so can he. That's not what the problem is.

The problem is that Wally has lost some things very important to him. He's been driving himself crazy all morning trying to find them and if they don't show up soon Wally is going to start doing surprise room inspections.

Wally gets up from the floor after he's done checking under his bed. He sighs and rubs a hand across his face. It's not that the items he lost were particularly valuable, but they were really important! Not only for him, but also for everyone around him. For hygiene and all of that. So, really, he cannot comprehend why someone would just take his clean underwear like it was no big deal.

"I hope you made sure they fit first!"

He flops back on his bed and stares at some spot on the ceiling. This is officially the worst day ever.
