APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED!
The next application opening date is Friday 16th January, 7pm EST.
The next application processing date is Friday 23rd January, 7pm EST.
IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE
We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.
In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.
You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.
Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.
If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.
Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.
We now have a test drive community athaventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.
While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

Re: William T. Spears | Kuroshitsuji | No Reserve
Canon: Kuroshitsuji
Canon Point: Post Campania
Background/History: http://kuroshitsuji.wikia.com/wiki/William_T._Spears
Re: William T. Spears | Kuroshitsuji | No Reserve
William has a fine eye for detail--almost too keen a set of eyes if you ask his co-workers. Ronald Knox even mentioned at the end of the Circus arc that William is hardly ever pleased by anyone. Due to being a perfectionist, if anything seems to be out of order, it triggers his need to fix it. This can be beneficial for all concerned, but it can also prove to be burdensome to those who are on the receiving end of William's efforts. Because he believes so thoroughly in his convictions, William is an excellent leader. Unfortunately, William has a hard time relaxing and he unnecessarily denies himself a lot of things just because he is worried about his work.
William is a perfectionist, and he desires to constantly reform and improve. He is an idealist who strives to make order out of the chaos that demons and other things are constantly causing. William is also a workaholic--everything he does is somehow related to his work. He is often the first one to be found in the office and the last one to leave it as well, often earning himself excess overtime. When William is placed in a situation which is unfamiliar (and therefore uncomfortable) to him, he automatically tries to find something that he can relate to. Any set of rules especially would put him at ease and provide him with the stability to survive in the new surroundings.
William's inability to achieve the perfection he desires feeds his feelings of shame for not being able to complete his goal, and fuels his subdued anger against his imperfect world. William's anger is therefore vigorously repressed from his consciousness, often written off as being unnecessary. However, on occasion it bursts forth in fits of temper often directed at the one who causes the most trouble. For example, in the Jack the Ripper arc where William found himself needing to rescue Grell from Sebastian, William appeared to personally inflict as much damage upon Grell as he could while he calmly read of the list of rules that Grell had broken, finishing his lecture by dragging Grell away by the hair. He has little patience for personalities that hinder the order of life, prime examples being Sebastian or Grell.
William's stiff personality prevents him from interacting with people in and out of work, and in turn makes others generally disinclined to interact with him. He has an extreme, almost childish devotion to his own personal space, and that only adds to his poor social skills. He has difficulty blending well into a crowd, even when undercover. Since he often represses his emotions, it is hard for him to express his emotions even when it is appropriate to do so. Nervousness especially he finds he cannot express, and swallows it down immediately. William also finds it difficult to make friends, let alone pursue a romantic relationship, because of his stunted relationship with his own emotionality.
William is not very skilled at lying, and will speak of his job easily and off-handedly, despite needing to maintain a low profile. Oddly enough, most do not take him seriously and think he is joking. William lacks the social skills needed to understand humor, let alone to intentionally be humorous. He also does not have very much empathy due to being trained to be a death god--a being that maintains order among disorder. Disorder and chaos compromise their work and empathy can cloud his judgement. Given that background, faced with something that does not fit the rules or adhere to any similar sort of conformity, William would do his best to either make the issue orderly or, if that proved impossible, avoid it at all costs. Thankfully, William is not the sort to give in easily, so he puts his all into resolving an issue before giving up.
Re: William T. Spears | Kuroshitsuji | No Reserve
Abilities/Powers: All reapers possess the following abilities.
Most of William's abilities relate to his death scythe; a long metal rod with a clamp at one end and a grip handle at the other. He uses his death scythe to attack, defend, collect souls, and activate cinematic records. It also has the unique ability to extend great distances; the farthest seen is from the roof of Baron Kelvin's manor, which could measure possibly twenty feet. He is never seen without his scythe and uses it for a variety of mundane purposes other than reaping such as adjusting his glasses or balancing on a tight rope. His scythe is more of an extension of his hand.
William has superb agility, reflexes, and skills using staff-like weapons.
William also has been seen using birds as messengers.

Re: William T. Spears | Kuroshitsuji | No Reserve
Good day to those that are watching this. My name is William T. Spears, I am one of the newly arrived citizens to this...community of sorts.
[A little fixing to his tie to make sure that it is perfect, which it already was, for this was just a ploy to distract himself from being unnerved at being misplaced.]
I would like to know about any current sense of rules that must be followed here, as well as proper manners that should be displayed. I do not wish to present myself as a fool because of laziness and the inability to gather information about my surroundings. What do they mean that everyone is safe here and by how could they ensure the safety of everyone?
Sample Entry Two:
Carefully and with precise, methodical flicks of a dark blue silk handkerchief, William wiped away the nauseating black and dark green sludge that had splattered across his face. It was the unfortunate result of when he kicked in a head of a rather demanding zombie--one that had the bad sense of timing and unfortunately came across an already foul-tempered management supervisor.
"Note to self: add the cost of dry cleaning and new work shoes to Sutcliffe's bill," William muttered to himself as he used the last clean corner of his favorite handkerchief to clean away the spare flicks of zombie brains off his glasses. Through the now-cleaned lens William's rather sharp bright green eyes could been seen. Some, mostly a lazy and often troublesome rouge field officer, might describe his eyes as being cold and soulless. Looking behind him to inspect the messy path that he had cleared, William finally became alert to the sound of soft moans. At first the demands for a certain sugary confection were too soft and easily ignored as mere white noise, but now they had gradually increased--as if what was making them was even closer--and judging from the echos they were surrounding him.
It was a fluke that he found out that a piece of chocolate would distract the living dead long enough for him to either escape or to forcibly remove them with a well placed kick. As such, when he found himself awakening to the foul odor of the rotting corpse who was searching through his coat pockets and pulling out his stash of chocolate. William was more upset that his personal space was being invaded than the fact that the ones who were doing the invading were long dead humans.
-> REVISE
The reason for this is that we don't feel as though the sample provided gives a good insight into William's personality. You are welcome to link a post or thread, or write a new sample.
We apologize for the inconvenience. You have one week to reply to these revisions, thank you.
Re: -> REVISED- Reworked!
[At first the camera is zoomed in a little too close, the corner of a frown the center of the focus before it zooms out to reveal a better image of William.]
Honestly...
Finding myself sharing a room with *that* muzzled mongrel of a demon was not enough trouble to begin with but to have also find out that my collection book been tampered with? Every single page within it's perfectly organized and color coded binder wiped clean of all my hard effort. All my hard work wasted. I have you know that it is a tedious affair to follow up on a single person for months at a time, watching their every single action before and up to after their deaths. Good grief, mortals are more trouble then they are worth and I can not comprehend what demons find so attractive about their souls.
[A little fixing to his tie to make sure that it is perfect, which it already was, for this was just a ploy to distract himself from the temptation to either throttle someone or to just point blank turn heel and leave.]
I would appreciate it if in the future- whoever is in charge of this...problem... that they would leave my collection book alone. I would rather not have to do everything all over again.
