Applications Two

APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED!
The next application opening date is Friday 16th January, 7pm EST.
The next application processing date is Friday 23rd January, 7pm EST.
IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE
We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.
In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.
You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.
Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.
If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.
Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.
We now have a test drive community athaventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.
While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

Character Name: Remy Etienne LeBeau (Gambit)
Canon: X-Men Comicverse
Canon Point: Post 2013 solo series
Background/History: here
Personality: It's known by many that it isn't wise to judge a book by its cover. But with Gambit? Many of your assumptions could very well be right. Remy Lebeau is a cool, calm, collected individual, riddled with wit and French banter. Born to a family who tossed him aside because of his strange eyes, he grew up living on the streets. He learned to keep himself collected, to take what he needed to survive, to steal. And while that may not be the most wise thing, it's because of his early street-rat tendencies that had him adopted into a family of thieves.
Remy has a witty personality, eager to make a snide remark or joke whenever given the opportunity. But through the snark, he's actually a very friendly and gentlemanly individual. Though his gentleman tendencies are usually used in an attempt to charm someone's pants off in order to steal, to those who are important, that characteristic is very genuine.
Gambit is well-known for his top-notch thievery and charm. A man with rugged class, charm, and swagger, he constantly maintains that cool composure that gets him away with damn-near anything. He has a playful demeanor, enjoying very much to push whatever buttons he can. He seems to find entertainment in chasing after women, finding their weaknesses and trying to wriggle himself in their lives. But with this comes with a weakness: Gambit, first and foremost, is a gentleman. He loves the women and the women love him, even the most unsavory. Gambit has always had a soft spot for women, even those who are deemed an ex-wife and try to get him killed after he'd saved their own life. It's his downfall in plenty of situations, something that he gets scolded for constantly.
Playful and social, Gambit also has a secret-not-so-secret love for fiction and movies. Plenty of times, you'll find him quoting or referring to The Twilight Zone or Harry Potter (which I will refrain from should we have any Harry Potter players). He has a love for playing games and gambling, a knack for card tricks, and a love for entertainment.
Although he carries a sense of pride to those who see him, Gambit has a very heavy burden on his back. Through his past experiences, mistakes, and misfortunes, he has taken on a large weight of guilt that has always been taxing on his ability to become close with anyone.
However, through the guilt and self-torment, Gambit actually has a heart of gold. Despite his master skills in stealing and lying, he's actually quite caring to those he deems as friends and the ones he loves. He has a charm, despite the one that serves as a magnet to victims, where he's easy to get along with and quite fun to be around. He's obnoxious at times, though entertaining just as often. Gambit enjoys joking around and spending time with those close to him.
Regardless, once a thief, always a thief. As mentioned before, Gambit is an expert in the art of lies and deception. With his ability to charm and persuade, he's succeeded many times in stealing and deceiving those who have something he wants or needs. He keeps his past carefully hidden, and he's very quick to run away from his problems and pretend that they never really happened at all. But that ties in with this guilt. With each and every mistake and lie, Gambit has placed another heavy block of guilt. He knows when he has done something wrong, yet he is known for repeating history. Through that awareness, Gambit beats himself up and very quickly believes he deserves what is coming to him.
But through all that, he wishes to stop his old ways. Gambit would want nothing more to live a normal life, but he honestly believes that he doesn't deserve it. While he's aware that stealing and lying is wrong, he continues to do it because he believes it's all he will ever amount to. Even through that charming smile and laugh, there lies a man who is deeply disappointed in himself. He puts himself through a vicious cycle of trying to improve, messing up, and reverting back to his old ways.
Abilities/Powers: Gambit's mutant ability is molecular acceleration, meaning that he has the power to take an object's potential energy and convert it to kinetic energy. The smaller the object, the faster he can charge it up. The larger the object, the longer it takes to charge. Either way, he can turn any household object into a home-made bomb! Ain't that nice? He is also capable of accelerating the energy of a woman's ovaries, causing them to inevitably explode. This includes, but is not limited to, blowing panties off.
Enhanced Agility: tying in with his mutant ability regarding energy, Gambit is able to move at superhuman speed.
Static Interference: Gambit's body is coursing with static energy, making him undetectable by telepaths and the like.
Hypnotic Charm: His ability to manipulate energy has no limitations when it comes to the human form. Gambit is able to change the energy in an individual's mind to work in his favor. In other words: he can literally charm the pants off of you and convince you that it was completely your own decision.
Items/Weapons: His Bo-Staff, a deck of cards, and a burnt and tattered queen of hearts card.
