APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED!
The next application opening date is Friday 16th January, 7pm EST.
The next application processing date is Friday 23rd January, 7pm EST.
IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE
We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.
In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.
You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.
Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.
If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.
Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.
We now have a test drive community athaventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.
While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

Re: Oda Nobunaga | Nobunaga the Fool | Not reserved
Oda Nobunaga; he's a young lord who does everything at his own pace. In Owari, where he was born and raised, he was known as the Fool of Owari, and he sure knows to live up to the name. He doesn't attend ceremonies or meetings that he considers as boring, or that he doesn't think will be any entertaining. In those cases, he sends Mitsuhide to attend the meetings instead. Sometimes, he might sneak in anyway, though. He dress up in weird, unconventional outfits, and he says things that should be better left unsaid. He's brash, and can be incredibly rude. Sometimes, the insulting nicknames that he can give people are out of affection, though. One example is Hideyoshi, who acts like a monkey, and because of that, Nobunaga calls him “Saru” which means monkey. He's impulsive, and doesn't always think through his decisions. Instead, he rushes head-first into it, and often gets into trouble because of this. Because of this personality of his, most people think that he is not fit to be the heir of the Oda clan. They don't think thathe has the qualities of a leader. Both his father, and the court serving the Oda, think that his younger brother would be a much better choice for the next leader of the clan. Nobunaga doesn't disagree, because he knows his brother is a capable person. But at the since time, he doesn't agree, either. Because he is very self confident, our Nobunaga, and he believes that he would be a much better lord than most others think that he would be.
He is very direct, and for one, he went right to Shingen to ask if it was him who sent assassins after himself and his brother. He believes his words when he says that it was not him, because he can see Shingen's face saying that he can defeat Oda without petty things like that. He's also insensitive, and can't read the atmosphere very well. When he sleeps and is awoken by someone, he sometimes even attack them, even if they're not an enemy. This is mostly after he has had an unpleasant dream, and he has been told that he'll lose friends if he keeps doing it. Not that he cares about how many friends he has. He is of the opinion that he only needs Mitsuhide and Hideyoshi as friends.
After stepping foot on the battle field for the first time, not as a participant, but as an onlooker, he realized just how cruel war is. It made him both laugh and cry, though he couldn't understand why. He knows that in this era of war, only those with great resolve will live to see tomorrow, and he intends to do that. He also intends to cause more battles. Because he thinks that, to end all wars once and for all, the world needs to be united. He wants to bring change. If the war changes, the era will change. He will go right into it, and will not run away from it. He swore on it as a samurai, and the word of a samurai cannot be invoked. But with the question of if they are unleashing something that shouldn't be let out, the question if they are bringing Hell to the country, Nobunaga decides that he will conquer it all, and become the Demon Lord.
Because his foolish side is hiding that he actually is much more clever than people think. This is not only strategy, of course, he really is a great fool, there's no denying that. He's a hot-head and an idiot. But at the same time, he is very smart. He just doesn't show it all the time. He prefers doing things his way and people tend to not take him seriously, because he uses such unconventional methods. He often thinks up strategies that normally, people with his upbringing would not think up, and he's not afraid of trying new things. But being serious is a way to convince people of his thoughts, and he's good with words. This often surprise those who only sees his foolish side, but he doesn't let that deter him. He is capable of great motivational speeches, and, for example, when the news of an alliance between Oda's enemies, Takeda and Uesugi, reach Owari, people panic, but when they ready to leave, Nobunaga gives a speech that causes everyone to regain their hope and faith.
He likes battles, and soon it turns into them having a duel. He loves a thrill and if the opportunity to fight comes, he will not turn it down. That is, unless he feels that he will lose. Sure he might be called a coward, but if he throws himself into a fight that he has no chance of winning, he will not be able to reach any of his goals.
Because Oda Nobunaga is a stubborn man, filled to the brim with determination. He has survived several assassination attempts in the past, even if he might not know about all of them. After all, he's not trusted by his father's retainers, who want to usurp him and make his younger brother the next leader of the Oda. He even says that he welcomes the attempts, because it would be interesting if there was someone that bold in the castle. But his self confidence can stay strong partly becausehe doesn't care about what people think of him, and even considers himself a fool, at times. The mech that he gets his hands on, he even names The Fool. A fool should be handling a fool, after all. And he likes how it sounds, the English word for a big idiot. He loves making a spectacle, and to cause commotions. This is one of the reasons why he does so many things considered odd and peculiar.
Despite his repeated arguments with his father, he actually respects the man much more than he'd ever tell him. Perhaps because he's not sure he will be taken seriously, because he doesn't follow his father's wishes or orders. But he does love and respect the elder Oda, and when his father dies in battle, Nobunaga swears to avenge him. He's also a loving big brother, to two younger siblings. He has a younger brother, Nobukatsu, and a younger sister, Ichi. He is very fond of both of them, even if it might sometimes seem like he isn't. Ditching out on your brother's coming-of-age ceremony is not a thing a good brother is supposed to do, after all. When his younger brother dies the same day as his father, he is incredibly upset. He cared and loved his brother, even though he teased him often. Teasing people, and messing with them, is a way for him to show affection.
When he finds something new that interests him, he has a tendency to become obsessed with it. He loves seeing new things, and loves to explore. When he gets obsessed, he forgets about everything else. When they were young, he often tended to forget his little sister, Ichi, in the mountains. He didn't often realize that she had been left behind until long after. But he doesn't let his interests get in the way completely, though. He always went to find Ichi again when he lost her, and she always waited for him. There is a strong bond between the siblings.
His way of coping with hard situations, such as the death of his father and murder of brother, is in various ways. One way is fury. He doesn't care who it is; if someone hurts those that he cares about, he will never forgive them and will definitely cut them down. Another is sadness. He doesn't like showing his sadness openly, but he's not afraid of doing so. He tends to seclude himself after something happens, leaving the castle, when he needs time to think and overcome the hard things. Staying under a waterfall is a good place to think, for example. He is even late to his own father's funeral because he has, and appears in improper clothes for it. He even throws his father's ashes to the floor, and intends to leave without a word. It's his fury at the enemy, his sadness over losing his father, but at the same time, anger over him leaving the world before it was time for him to go. None of his sons are ready to take over after their father; Nobukatsu being too gentle, and Nobunaga being misunderstood by everyone. But grief is hard, so hard that it can make him scream inhumanly in sadness and rage, because he doesn't know what to do with all the feelings.
He thinks they died and that his fiancee, Himiko, was hurt because of him. Because he's so useless. He says that he really is the fool everyone calls him. No, he's an even bigger fool than they say. He hates himself for being so pathetic, for being unable to protect what he cares about. Sometimes he hates himself all over for it, and it makes him mad at himself.
