APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED!
The next application opening date is Friday 16th January, 7pm EST.
The next application processing date is Friday 23rd January, 7pm EST.
IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE
We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.
In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.
You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.
Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.
If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.
Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.
We now have a test drive community athaventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.
While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

Gon, who was not in Asgard for long, had different experiences that altered his development slightly. Having had been thrown from one war to another, Gon found more of a priority to get back home. When he was in Asgard, it was only after he had found out that his friend had been altered and killed, turned into a zombie-like state. Having protected people from a dragon attack, and even hallucinations making people see what they feared the most, Gon did his best to assist others. He made a few friends whom he considered close quickly, and attempted to protect them. While it is his nature to help others in trouble, Gon also found that he wanted to try to make up for what had happened to his friend back at home.
The hallucinations, as said, was something that made others see things they feared the most. For example, the death of a loved one, or their worst enemy appearing in Asgard. For Gon, it was the death of his friends, and both his worst enemy back in Asgard. The hallucinations gradually became worst throughout the three days they occurred, and eventually they became vivid enough to where they felt, saw, and were involved in the hallucinations in every way possible. However, Gon saw his best friend as his worst enemy, and by accident, murdered him. Through that, Gon has vowed to further become stronger in any form possible, as to not ever make a mistake like that ever again.
He is still the same Gon, and will be more light-hearted due to resolutions occurring in canon in comparison to how he acted in previous roleplay games, but his Asgard development will still effect him.
Personality: Gon is many things. He’s dangerous, to an extent that others call him a monster, however he’s also carries all of the personality traits of a “shonen hero”. He’s friendly and accepting to a fault, he’s loyal to his friends, and he does everything in his powers to become stronger and win against any opponent that he faces. He’s curious, adventurous, and courageous. As an enhancer (a type of nen user, which is a power unique in the Hunter x Hunter universe), Gon is both simple minded and determined.
Gon Freecss is a boy that seeks adventure. In the beginning of the series, after catching the legendary fish of the lake at Wale Island, he immediately sets off to take the Hunter Exam. This exam is known to be extremely dangerous, to the point where many can die during it. However, Gon takes the exam without hesitation. With that said, he’s courageous to a fault. Gon faces life and death situations with a great amount of confidence, and without fear of his own death. There are many times in the series where he’s extremely reckless with his own life, to the point where he’s almost died in some of his fights.
His vision of what’s right and wrong are morally grey. His Father had abandoned him at a very young age to become a hunter. Despite that, Gon wants to follow in his Father, Ging’s footsteps, and become a hunter himself. Even after becoming a hunter, Gon decides to follow his father, and holds no grudge against him for what he has done. He has also befriended an assassin, and while his briefly lived rivalry with Hisoka, he didn’t fight him because Hisoka has killed others. In fact, the only reason we see Gon become angry towards others is if he doesn’t understand a situation, or his friends are in danger. This is especially seen during the Chimera Ant arc. Kaito, who Gon appeared to idolize as a friend of his Father, was killed by one of the Chimera Ants. As a result in this, Gon went as far as to lose himself in his anger, nearly obsessed with the idea of vengeance for what had happened to Kaito.
He’s also level headed, and is seen to be extremely calm during many dangerous situations during the beginning of the series. He’s stubborn, rarely giving in when he wants to achieve something. He’s also extremely loyal, doing whatever he can to protect and help his friends when he feels he situation calls for it.
Though, he’s also incredibly blunt. He won’t hesitate to say what what’s on his mind. With that said, Gon is incredibly emotional, and tends to wear his heart on his sleeves. He’s carefree, and tends to be happy-go-lucky at times.
In the Chimera Ant arc, his faults make him take a turn for the worse. Gon isolates himself from friends, and becomes incredibly unpredictable. Instead of helping others as he usually does, Gon wants vengeance so badly that he takes a blind woman hostage, and threatens her death if Kaito’s murderer does not cooperate. At the end of the arc, Gon goes as far as to williningly destroy himself in order to kill Pitou.
Gon is also animal-like. As a result of growing up on an island, he was able to spend a great amount of time with animals. It’s due to this that Gon has many animal-like qualities – he can run fast, jump high, and he has an extreme keen sense of smell. He’s also good with animals, which is a quality that all hunters have.
