We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.

We now have a test drive community at haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.

While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

Abilities/Powers: Bran has many different abilities and powers, all of which are common in the Stark family. However, his powers are much stronger than his families, and all of which were awakened after his fall.

• skin-changing/warg: Bran is known as a skin-changer, which is someone who is able to enter the skin of another animal. His specialty is to enter the skin of this direwolf, Summer. This ability to enter the skin of a wolf has a specific title: warg. All of the Stark children have this ability, though some are stronger than others, Bran’s being the strongest of all. He is able to change into his direwolf’s skin with ease, which is something he does constantly, enjoying the ability to walk and run once more.
However, unlike the rest of his family, Bran is able to take the skin of another human, birds and trees. He is seen taking on his servant’s, Hodor, skin a few times for two reasons: to walk again and to help protect himself and his companions. He is seen taking on Hodor’s skin a few times to walk, but the most notable is when he enters Hodor’s skin to protect his group from attacking wights (dead men brought back to life by White Walkers, who are unknown man-like creatures from North of the Wall) in A Dance with Dragons.
In addition, taking the skin of a tree known as a weirwood (a species of deciduous trees found across the land) is also seen in the same book, which occurs after he speaks to the three-eyed crow and eats the weirwood paste. However, unlike humans, trees have no concept of time, which allows Bran to see the future, present, and pass all in a blink of an eye.
He is also learning how to take the skin of a raven, wanting nothing more than to fly, but it is something he isn’t able to do yet.
• greenseeing: Greensight is the ability to see into the future, which usually occurs in a dream of some kind. It is an ability that Bran has, but is rather new to. It was awoken by eating the weirwood paste, but he hasn’t practiced the ability as much as he has practiced his skin-changing.

Items/Weapons: Bran has no weapons/items on his person. However, if it makes things easier, he could have the wheel barrel that carried him as a mode of transportation until he finds something better.

Sample Entry Two:
There was something missing, causing his heart feel empty and weak. He was alone, despite the fact he was surrounded by people. None of them matter though. Without Summer, Bran was alone, and that darkness in his heart that Summer helped suppress began to creep back in, almost consuming his heart and soul. Bran had already felt like a useless child, but Summer made him feel special, alive even. Summer let Bran run again, but now he couldn’t. Now he was trapped, just like he was in Winterfell, where he was unable to leave his bed unless carried by Hodor. It was a horrid life, which only made him wish he were dead.
That dark feeling was overwhelming though. With no Summer, no Hodor, no Meera or Jojen, Bran couldn’t ignore his self-hate. Meera wasn’t there to make him smile, nor was Jojen there to remind him of his importance. Instead, all he could think about was how he was trapped in this stupid wheel barrel.
Reaching over to the right wheel, Bran tried his best to push it in order to get it to move. Sadly, he was unable to make it do anything with his weak arms.
“Stupid thing.” He grumbled to himself as he sat back into his open cage. “How dare they leave me here alone. They promised to stay, but of course they don’t. No one ever does.”
Though his tone was angry and full of hate, in reality, he was full of pain. Everyone always left him. First his family, and now his closest friends.
He wasn’t going to cry though. Though he was a summer child, he was still a Stark, a child of winter, and winter was strong, so he was going to be strong too.

While the majority of the application looks good, we'd like to ask for a revised personality section.

The personality section as it stands reads much like a history section. There is a lot of summarizing of events in the book that dwarf the parts where you talk about how Bran reacted in those moments. Though it isn't bad to summarize, there are many paragraphs that are just pure summary with a line or two about how Bran felt in that moment and those aren't necessary for this section.
