We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.
In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.
You may apply for two characters every application round, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.
Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.
If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.
Applications are open on a monthly cycle, where they will be opened on the second Friday of every month for a week, and then processed on the third Friday of the month, before being closed again.
We now have a test drive community athaventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old. As of November 22nd 2014, samples cannot be "where am I" intro posts. The reason for this is that we often find it hard to gauge characterization from those, as most people when immediately in a new surrounding are confused or frightened.
While we encourage players who have dropped to re-join us, we do not encourage the continual rapid dropping and re-apping of the same character in a short time period. You are welcome to request specific housing, and all attempts will be made to accommodate that request, but it may not always be possible.

Re: Jonathan Joestar | Jojo's Bizarre Adventure | Reserved
A true gentleman, that is what many would say when asked about Jonathan Joestar. He's a man that leaves a mark on everyone he meets due to his unwavering determination, kindness, and desire to help anyone who needs assistance. He never puts himself before others, always mindful of the consequences of his own actions, even on those who he's fighting against. A good example of this is when he is searching in Ogre Street a cure for his father's illness, and is beset by a group of thugs. Even though they attack him with extreme prejudice (even going as far as grabbing a blade with his bare hands, or blocking a bladed hat with his wrist), Jonathan holds himself back, stating that as he is here for his father's sake, he couldn't help but think about his enemies' families as well, and how sad they would be if they were killed. It was this unbelievable act of kindness that managed to gain him the Joestar family's most valuable ally and friend: Speedwagon.
However, despite this kindness of his, he did not have many friends or allies to help him in his quest against Dio. Indeed, he only had Speedwagon, Zeppeli and Poco at his side when he made his way towards Dio's stronghold, but he fiercely loved them, despite the short amount of time they had together. Jonathan is shown to care for his friends intensely, putting his complete trust in them and never doubting them for a moment. He is shown to be inspiration to his friends as well, bolstering Poco - a boy shown to be timid and cowardly - to risk his life in an effort to save Jonathan, and for Zeppeli to march towards a fight he knew he wouldn't win. Though his friends are few, they are completely loyal towards him, and in return, Jonathan tries to do right by them as much as he can.
Jonathan's determination is a terrifying thing to behold as well, giving him the peculiar ability to get stronger with each defeat. It was an ability of his that would have never been realised, if he had never met Dio Brando, who tormented him throughout his early childhood. The more Dio pushed, the more Jonathan pushed back, unearthing a fiery temper that startles even Dio with its ferocity. It is this particular trait that helps him to eventually defeat Dio, and reduce him to the pathetic state he's in at the end of Phantom Blood: a floating, severed head. Another useful trait of his is that, in the heat of battle, Jonathan becomes intuitive and clever, utilising his surroundings, or using the Ripple in imaginative ways to overcome his foes.
But this enduring nature also stretches towards the mental as well, for Jonathan suffers much loss in his life, ranging from Dio Brando ruining his life and turning everyone against him, to Dio burning his dog alive, the only friend Jonathan had left, and Dio humiliating Erina (the love of his life) to the point where the girl refused to see him anymore, putting him in an isolation that would drive any man mad. Instead Jonathan endured, meeting Dio head on and forcing a tentative peace between them until the events of Phantom Blood in their adult years.
However, Jonathan is not completely pure and good at heart. As mentioned above, he does have a terrifying temper when its sparked, driving him to attack his opponent with everything he has, without hesitation. One example of this would be when facing Tarukus, one of the zombies that served Dio. After Tarukus brutally tore Zeppeli in half, Jonathan flew into a complete rage, delivering the vicious promise of "I will allow nothing of you to remain in this world... drown in the depths of history", before doing just that. He completely obliterates Tarukus using sheer brute force, rather than the imaginative cunning he had used in prior fights. His rage can give him an edge in battle, even if it is a state that is not gentlemanly at all. However, it is something he is rarely roused to, and the only people Jonathan has exhibited such anger towards has been Tarukus and Dio. So he is a man who possesses a long fuse, but when his temper is triggered, it is practically a force of nature.
Jonathan's most glaring flaw, however, also ties in with his greatest strength: his kindness. He never likes to assume the worst of people, and in fact, will take apologies and such at face value. In fact, he is almost swayed when confronting Dio over the fact that the man had been poisoning his father, evidence in hand. He believes Dio's tears of remorse as true - as someone who lacks a single devious bone in his body, he doesn't truly understand how people like Dio work, and can't comprehend someone killing another without some form of guilt or remorse. This type of naivety is dangerous, especially when facing someone as manipulative as Dio, and it has almost gotten himself killed a few times. So, even if his heart is his greatest strength, it is also his greatest weakness as a double-edged sword.
His other strength, as well as weakness, is his ability to forgive even the most despicable characters. As much as Jonathan hates Dio, he also shares a bond of brotherhood with him. It is possibly naivete on his end, or perhaps something inside of him is warped due to Dio's tormenting of him in childhood, but at the point of his death at Dio's 'hands', Jonathan bears no ill will towards him. With the belief that this is the end for them both, Jonathan has no wish for their lives to end with them still sporting bad blood between each other. He is a man whose greatest strength is his heart, able to make peace with someone as vile as Dio, his life ending as a true gentleman, something Jonathan has always strove to be.

> Great physical robustness. He's ridiculously resilient, and can do amazing feats of strength just from pure willpower. As Dio once said, "the more you beat him, the tougher he gets". He just doesn't know when to stay down.
> Hamon, or 'The Ripple'. It's a type of martial arts that harnesses the power of the sun, utilised by performing a type of breathing technique. He possesses a natural talent for this ability. The Wiki has a list of all the Hamon abilities he has (because it's ridiculously long), and is extremely versatile. The biggest weakness it has, however, is that it requires breath, so if Jonathan's breathing is restricted in any way, he can't use Hamon.

Sample Entry Two:
Perched almost comically atop of a discarded bit of rubble, fists pressed together and eyes closed, Jonathan breathed - loudly at that, like the great exhales of an exhausted bull. Utterly obnoxious to listen to, but for the moment, Jonathan seemed utterly oblivious to it, his eyebrows furrowed together in an expression of deep concentration, until-
"Ah," he exhaled sharply, opening his eyes and letting his arms rest on his knees, head bowed somewhat. "No, it still isn't right..."
He rubbed at his neck, where he could still feel the phantom ache. It was purely psychological, this block he had on his Ripple, but it was an obstacle he was finding difficulty in overcoming. He still remembered that helpless fear when Dio had pierced those holes into his throat, the inability to breathe... he shivered, like a horse shaking off flies, and pressed his fists together once more, squeezing his eyes shut stubbornly. If it is a simple matter of psychology, then Jonathan merely had to overcome it. He was certain that an iron will will see him through!
So he continued to breathe... obnoxiously loudly, with the occasional, quiet, muffled grunt of growing frustration.
