APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN!
The next processing date is Friday 11th October
IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST YOUR APPLICATIONS HERE ON THE NEW APPLICATION PAGE
We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.
In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.
You may apply for two characters every two weeks, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.
Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. If you wish to request a specific apartment, please do so in the relevant part of the application. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.
If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.
Every attempt will be made to place a character in their chosen apartments, though this may not always be possible depending on the slots available.
Applications are open constantly, but are only processed every other Friday at 7PM EST. The Saturday following acceptance, an IC mingle log will be posted for characters to be introduced to the game.
We now have a test drive community athaventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old.

robert "bobby" drake | marvel-1610 (not reserved)
Of course, most people view his tendency to laugh as immature and they'd be right. Bobby is still a teenager beneath his X-men uniform. He often fails to grasp the atmosphere and he's obtuse to the feelings of people around him. Sometimes he can't think beyond his own feelings, such as when he kisses Kitty while dating Rogue or messages Rogue while dating Kitty (yeah he's an idiot). He also can't think beyond his hormones, ogling the ladies even as said ladies wipe the floor with him. And with all the battles he's been through, you'd think he's learned something of strategy, but no. He's still the first one to get riled up, the most likely person to throw himself into a fight and attack head-on. Bobby's the sort of person that needs someone next to him, someone who can order him and calm him down at his worst. Without an anchor, Bobby's just a headstrong, irresponsible boy. He can also be a real jerk when he wants to be, but it doesn't take long for him to apologize when he's in the wrong.
It's somewhat admirable that Bobby has stayed the same despite everything that's happened to him. Bobby probably deals with most of the issues in his life by repressing them. He doesn't repress them to the point where he forgets about them, instead he simply doesn't allow himself to dwell. The only way Bobby can stay as the same cheerful teenager he's used to being is if he picks himself up after every fall. Sure he's seen some really crappy stuff, but he'd rather push that stuff to the back of his mind and move on with is life. He wants to live and enjoy his life, video-games, junk food, etc. And if that means refusing to change, if that means staying the same, then Bobby is okay with that.
The best part of Bobby is that he has a good heart underneath his
stupidimmaturity. He doesn't think it's right for humans to hate mutants or for mutants to hate humans. He doesn't believe in mutant supremacy or getting revenge against the people who have abused and hated him for just being a mutant. Bobby believes in the cause of the X-men and Professor Xavier's dream for peace. As Professor Xavier has noticed, it's Bobby's warm heart that truly defines him. Despite his parents pressuring him to testify against the X-men after a brutal mission, Bobby stands up to both them and the mutant-hating public in support of the X-men. His loyalty to the X-men also stems from his desire to be loyal to his friends. He treasures his teammates and would leap to their defense in battle any time. He even goes toe-to-toe with Magneto in order to rescue the team (despite ending up scarred by this encounter). He doesn't care about whether or not his friends are mutants and humans. What's important is that they're his friends. After the events of 'Ultimatum', which killed most of his friends and left him homeless, Bobby is not left entirely unaffected. He's no longer part of the X-men. You'd think that Bobby would be free to be the teenager he truly is now that he's no longer on the team, but that's not the case at all. He immediately seeks the help of his closest friend on the team, Kitty, and bonds with Peter and Johnny (who aren't mutants, but understand how it feels to be 'different'). He's not the type of person that can do well on his own. He frequently mentions his desire to be an X-men again and his annoyance at having to live as a 'normal' teenager. So, despite everything, Bobby likes being an X-men and having a purpose.
After Peter's death and the sudden revival of mutant hatred in America, Bobby is forced to live underground with Kitty and Johnny. He watches as the nation he's protected as an X-men ultimately turns its back on him. The combination of that betrayal and the stress of having to live on the run take its toll. Kitty remarks that while Bobby is still a jokester, it's obvious that he's feeling the pressure. He becomes more pragmatic, having realized that the only way to survive is to fight back. And while Bobby still refrains from taking human lives, he's not afraid to punch back and act like the violent mutants the public despises. Most of his friends have given up on America and 'peace', and Bobby is well on his way to doing the same.

Sample Entry Two: It had to be another trick.
To be honest, it wasn't as if Bobby hadn't been kidnapped and taken against his will to a shifty place once before. And considering the amount of things he's been through, kidnapping seemed to be on the lower end of the scale. Less impressive, more overused --
Still really creepy. Bobby had bolted the first chance he got, straight through the window and out onto the street. He had slid all the way to the outskirts before slamming into the barrier. It would take at least ten more times of Bobby crashing facefirst into the barrier before he finally got the picture. Okay, magical forcefield, fine. If that's the way they were going to play, then Bobby would just have to beat them at their own game. Except, who exactly was playing? He doubted that any anti-mutant resistance would have kidnapped him and then left him alone in an apartment room. Shouldn't he be tied to a chair? Interrogated? Or at least in a place with bars?
Maybe it wasn't the anti-mutant army that was behind this. But then who?! Bobby inhaled deeply and exhaled ice, freezing part of the building he was facing, before eventually sitting down. He had tired himself out running into invisible walls and he had absolutely nothing to show for it.
"Couldn't they have kidnapped Kitty too? Someone who could at least figure all of this out?" He regretted the words as soon as he said them. If the others weren't here, then that meant they had escaped -- somehow. They were still safe in the caves with the others. But was Bobby safe? He couldn't keep back the crawling feeling of fear, the nerves bundling in his stomach.
"Keep it together, Bobby." He's been through this before, yes, nothing could possibly be worse than the experimentation he'd been through before. But at least he had been with the other X-men back then. No matter what happened, he had never been alone. Ever. And as much as he didn't want to admit it, he couldn't do this on his own. He wasn't smart enough, or strong enough, or, or, no, he had to keep his cool! That's what Scott always said before Bobby would crack some joke about being 'cool'. 'Except Scott's dead', whispers the quietest part of his mind, the one that Bobby usually ignores - and for good reason.
Maybe he wasn't alone! He had woken up in an apartment, he had heard other people before he assumed that they were bad news. Maybe he should just go right back and ask...around. Ask if anyone had seen his friends. Because for all of what Bobby's been through, he couldn't deal with this alone. He had always been a team player. They couldn't possibly expect him to go solo now.
