We're so glad you're thinking of joining us in Haven, where we are all safe.

In order to apply for a canon character, please fill out the information below and post it in a comment in this entry. For an OC, please apply using the OC information. Please do not link to applications, all applications must be posted here. Please do not delete your applications; if you do not want it to be seen, you can request for it to be screened after a decision is made.

You may apply for two characters every two weeks, to a total of six characters. Only two of these may be from the same canon, and they cannot be too familiar with one another. Please make sure to mark the header of your comment(s) with RESERVED or NOT RESERVED, as well as the character name and canon. App challenges are not allowed currently.

Try to remember spelling and grammar are important, and in app length quality and not quantity is what matters. If you wish to request a specific apartment, please do so in the relevant part of the application. All parts of the application must be your own work, plagiarism will not be tolerated, though you are welcome to reuse your own old applications.

If you are asked for revisions, please don't panic! It doesn't mean the mods don't like you, only that we probably need more information before making a decision. If you are asked for revisions, you will have one week to supply them.

Every attempt will be made to place a character in their chosen apartments, though this may not always be possible depending on the slots available.

Applications are open constantly, but are only processed every other Friday at 7PM EST. The Saturday following acceptance, an IC mingle log will be posted for characters to be introduced to the game.

We now have a test drive community at haventest which is continuously open. Posts there may be used in lieu of a sample in the application. You may also link posts, logs, or threads from other games and memes in lieu of samples, though we ask that they be no more than one year old.

Abilities/Powers:

Toale is capable of using Nelpha magic, which (as generally with all magic in his world) is invoked by drawing a magic circle and reciting the proper incantation. (Unfortunately, no cohesive list of known Nelpha spells exist, and it's likely safe to assume Toale knows more than just the ones that have been shown. As a whole, though, think typical RPG type spells.)

His artificial limbs are imbued with magic, allowing him to undo them easily and cause them to self-destruct, which can do a decent amount of damage.

Items/Weapons: A sword and his military uniform (aka the clothes on his back).

There wasn't a day that went by where Toale didn't think of his people back 'home'. It might've seemed obsessive, but they were at war, and so it was only natural to be worried. Toale could joke around easily enough when his friends were around, but alone like this, he was hardly about to laugh with himself.

(For starters, he didn't think he was that close to snapping.)

Concern about his people aside, Haven wasn't that bad. Toale didn't find it a particularly pleasant place, and needless to say, he'd heard the stories—but Toale didn't have very high standards by this point. The basic niceties and comforts he'd been accustomed to as a civilian were a thing of the past. By now, he was used to the life of a soldier, as part of group that had travelled across two countries with barely any rest just to give their people some semblance of a home after their own had been taken from them. It was a group that was grateful even for tents and carriages for beds and shelter, since it wasn't as if they had anything better.

The things that Toale had never questioned as a civilian were luxuries in times of war—luxuries for people who had lost everything but one another. And even then, Toale could never forget the scene of his people dying around him, when Roland attacked. Screams and blood and death and the mourning after—there were some memories that never left a person, and his failure to protect his people was one of them.

"... Well, not like thinking about it can do much now," Toale murmured, rubbing his temple with his left hand. Without the war looming over him, he was technically getting more rest here than he had back home, but a part of him couldn't help but still feel exhausted. Danger was still lurking here, after all, and even more than that—

He had to find a way to return home, where his people were waiting.
